Specimen, Fanette Mellier
Context: Pôle graphisme de Chaumont, 2009
Printed by: Imprimerie du Petit-Cloître
Description: 120 × 176 cm
This poster, announcing a series of “graphic design and publishing” themed shows, isn’t a conventional image. It’s more of a printed object linked to its subject. The front, fully saturated with color and technical elements related to printing (scale 1), is offset printed with a very thin raster. This space saturation, like an obsessive canvas, presents graphical tools that are a common vocabulary for books makers. The title and info are printed on the back. The fold lets the title appear: the poster becomes informative and evokes at the same time the delicate materiality of a page.

"Oh, you know Cerberus. That mad old dog who will devour anything in sight?"

This was my illustration piece for the JOD anniversary zine! (I also designed the enamel pin!) Cerb is prob my favourite 2nd level in JOD next only to Bella. Despite their sick design they're often forgotten about!
Working alongside my fellow staff and collaborators to create the NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams 15th anniversary zine was an honour that feels irreplaceable, and I loved every moment of it. JOD, and NID in general, are lifelong loves of mine, and I'm lucky to have been able to put that love towards something that pays tribute to this beautiful franchise. Please check the zine and its creators out when you can, it's chock full of SUCH stunning pieces, thanks to the limitless amount of talent that this fandom has always had!!

I promised you a Plance Dance, art print, gold leaf embellished. Because we love them.
This power couple has conquered my heart bit by bit; I was feeling and hoping for them throughout the VLD seasons, and after. The more I wrote them into my stories, the more I read your fanfics as well, the more I enjoyed discovering the “tango” that life puts them through.
So here they are, ready to bloom onto your retinas, passionate and graceful, green and blue, elegant and sparkly, dancing their tango of ups and downs, triumphs and sorrows, finding their identity, their resilience, their unity.
There is power in Green, there is strength of character in Blue. They clash, they mingle, they struggle, they learn from mistakes and they come back together. I love them so much.
And gold leaf, because they shine bright.
This giclée is printed on a 11x14” (28 x 35.5 cm) watercolor bright white archival paper, with Canon Lucia inks and hand-embellished with Schabin composition leaf.
Here is the link to my Ko-fi listing.
*** Since this is a labor-intensive artwork (the magnifying glass is my friend and I might turn into a gold flake gremlin after this, haha), it’s going to be a PRE-ORDER, so I can have time to properly gild each art print. I’ll keep the pre-order open for a week or more depending on the demand, and post updates for you here when I close it.
