Whoever on here said that work pants aren’t even made to last no more; you are 10^100% right. I just discovered that I have a 2+ inch big hole on my pants along with another parallel to it bc my thighs are mighty. I am able to fix damn near everything cloth related but
my work pants getting holes when they are under a year old is
unacceptable.

I’m not going to lie over the last 6 months the amount of fabric scraps that I have produced from my sewing projects is a little crazy.
And as someone who has been borderline depressed over the fact that we produce about 92 million tonnes each year in clothing waste I struggle with the idea of just throwing these away so they can sit in a landfill like the rest.
Originally my idea was to take these scraps and create stuffing that I can use to make pillows with. However I lack the knowledge/equipment to get my fabric shreds small enough for my pillows to not be lumpy and uncomfortable.
But I do feel like this may work for a bean bag style chair. I’ll keep yinz updated if I actually try that out.
However this week I was sparked with the inspiration to attach these scraps to a canvas.. Which to my surprise went pretty well.
Well I guess for the most part…
At first I thought the best idea to attach these pieces of fabric to my canvas was with a hot glue gun. And in theory, yes… that was a pretty good idea. However I am me and I probably shouldn’t be left alone with a hot glue gun.
Or glue in general…
but I have adult money… so I can do what I want.
After covering about half the canvas, which is 12” x 12” btw, and burning the crap out of my hands, I decided to switch over to Mod Podge. Which was neither amazing or bad, but it did get the job done.
Though I am looking for another type of adhesive. So if anyone was any recommendations let me know.
After talking to my friend/amazing artist Braighlee and sitting with this piece for 24 hours, I really love this as an option on what to do with my fabric scraps. And I now have a better idea on some interesting routes to take with this project here in the future.
I’ll keep yinz updated on where I decide to go with this. <3

I read somewhere that embroidered clothes need to be washed differently. Is this true? I read that right after getting a bunch of embroidery floss to visibly mend some clothes
Washing embroidered clothes
Yup! Check out my post on securing embroidery thread, which includes laundry instructions. My embroidery tag's also a good resource.
Handmade embroidery tends to be fragile, so it's important to properly secure your thread and take good care of the embroidered item. If you don't, you risk for your threads to come loose.
If you're not careful when washing embroidered items, your embroidery threads could get snagged on things like buttons or zippers in the washer.
Try to either wash them by hand (safest), or use your machine's delicate cycle combined with a laundry bag. Always let the item air-dry.

All of the great Maria Hill moments in Secret Invasion
this bestie hug scene
this scene where she realizes her demise is imminent because she just saw agent ross die turn into a skrull in front of her and knows she’s gonna be a goner no matter what but also the hair.
this scene where she gets to explain the plot of the episode to the audience so we understand what is going on and why we should care while rocking this v-neck and gay stud earrings.
additional v-neck appreciation
this scene where she grabbed her arm and rocked the v-neck again and also has A+ hair.
this scene where we got a great shot of this hair again
this scene where she ate one piece of barely popped popcorn, confirming to us that she is a human and not a robot i guess also Nick lmao you can’t make popcorn just for yourself dude. also i just noticed that this is an extension of Maria’s red/white & blue color scheme here!
this quick shot where she is smiling at Nick getting out of the SUV aka her house I assume since she is basically always getting in or out of SUVS???
this scene where she gets to leave her SUV house because she noticed a short person and was immediately like a short person in a tv show? that’s SUS!
this scene where she walked outside, i loved this, she looks great outside walking, i would love more scenes where Maria walks outside alive.
this shot where her hair was fucking perfect
this last moment of perfect hair before G’iah fucking wrecks it
this moment when she was like, how dare you be a short person, you better not mess up my hair in this poorly lit tunnel we are about to have a hairography fight in!!!
this moment where she legit held her own for a moment in a poorly lit tunnel that was not that way just to hide stunt doubles against G’iah in this hairography fight... (Also apparently, just being a skrull G’iah has super strength so it’s amazing that Maria Hill didn’t die in this encounter, also why wouldn’t G’iah just kill her, she’s about to be fine with killing 2000 people in a bombing?) NGL I made fun of this scene a lot the camera work is horrible and it’s so awkward and it makes no sense.
this scene where she sat the gayest way possible in A RUSSIAN DIVE BAR
then this scene where she changed to her only other article of clothing, a second gray hoodie like a mom in a 2012 yogurt commercial.
and finally, when Nick brought back those infrared glasses from space that he just happened to have like he knew they were gonna need them ahead of time and then acting like they are essential for some reason to this very dumb and terrible plan. But NGL they did look gay and cute as hell.
I refuse to look at any screen caps further into Operation Glasses
(( Also, I was just thinking about how even if she did survive being shot that dirty bomb radiation would have gotten her, right? Also, why did the dirty bombs not affect real Fury? Surprise another plot hole. ))

My low waste goal for today!!
Unpicking a dress I like the fit of but HATE the fabric.
I’m taking it apart piece by piece so I can copy the pattern. I’ll make a dress version, which is what this piece originally was, and then shorten the waist so I can use it to make shirts.
My goal is to eventually make all my own clothing. That way I can use natural fibers (cotton, linen, wool) instead of buying clothing that is almost always some blend of polyester. Micro plastics are no joke!
So I’ll take a few hours (oh no) to completely unlock this whole dress. And if I have the spoons (probably not) I’ll try to draft a pattern. It would be my first time drafting a pattern, and I am nervous/excited!

Enshittification at it once again!
Every once in a while when my mom goes to the store, she’ll bring something home for me. Bless her sweet lil Midwestern heart, she tries to get me things that she guesses I need or might want and it’s a hit or miss. I’m just not a conventional dresser except when I’m at work. These white t shirts are new tho and I thought I didn’t like the design but it turns out if I kinda do. They were free, the best price out there ;).
Everyone who is pointing it out is so right that this is plaguing the (fast) fashion industry. This shirt and it’s clone are decent quality that I can tell at the moment, but the green corduroy pants that she bought?? I’ve never in my life felt fabric that felt like it was trying it’s hardest to mimic fabric. She brought me these pants right as I was waking up, and through my sleepy eyes I could tell the quality was so garbage. Out of habit, I checked the crotch to see how the inside of the fabric looked… and I can swear by my left pinky that good corduroy SHOULD NOT BE MILDLY SEE THROUGH TO A N Y DEGREE, especially when it comes to pants.
Fabric? Shit quality. Shit quality = harder to repair = meant to be replaced faster = more money spent.
I always check the stitching in the crotch. Standard stitch instead of a flat seam on shitty fabric? Strike 2. Using machine needles that are too big on said shitty fabric on the booty/crotch? Strike two. I only hand sew to make sure I don’t mess up or am able to correct any mistake and get the absolute best result I can but when I tell you that I almost thought I was going crazy when I saw those holes with my bare eyes and no glasses???? 😭😭 y’all.
I tried them on once before folding them back up and handing them back to her. Enshittification is so real and if it hasn’t reached an area of clothing production oh boy oh golly it eventually will, and I’m not sure what is as consumers will do once it has a death grip on every single thing.

Where does Gabriel get these clothes?? He turns up without them, just the case with the swords and his coat. Those are the ONLY things in his hands, and yet, here he is, brand new outfit…
Did Sam and Dean go BUY THAT for him??? Did they go stick Narfi in a trash compactor and then swing by target?? Did Sam have to beg Dean to pull over so he could buy him a lil leather jacket??? I mean he looks delightful good pick but WHY
