stefans mom abandoned him and damon only to start a new family with the heretics as her children (stefan went on to date one of them). bonnies mom abandoned her only to adopt jamie (bonnie and jamie dated for a few episodes).

stefans dad was emotionally distant and had high expectations for him (re: being against vampires). bonnies dad was emotionally (and physically) distant and had high expectations her (re: expression arc)

stefan and elena broke up because elena had feelings for someone else. bonnie and jeremy broke up because jeremy had feelings for someone else. (both are victims of emotional cheating and ironically were done dirty by the gilbert siblings).

stefans ripper arc started due to his desire to protect damon and elena. bonnies expression arc started due to her desire to save jeremy. both ended up attacking their loved ones (namely elena), were isolated from the friend group, and were manipulated by the main villain of the season (in stefans case klaus, in bonnies case silas).

stefan spent the summer in between season 4 and season 5 drowning in a safe. bonnie spent the summer in between season 4 and season 5 dead. neithers absence were noticed until months later.

season 5’s storyline was literally started due to their ancestors (qetsiyah and silas) having a long and complicated history together that was so deep that affected the supernatural world as a whole.

they had the same morals, same general outtakes on life, were the two main people making sacrifices for the group, and got the two worst endings of the main tvd characters. you’d think they were written with the intention of being twin flames/soulmates of some sort with the sheer amount of parallels you can find between them. their friends to lovers arc would’ve been one of the best to come out of the TVDU if the racist ass writers weren’t insistent on excluding bonnie from things (from storylines to romantic/platonic dynamics) that she should’ve been apart of.

Pattern Recognition

One of the things that makes humans truly unique on a galactic scale was their ability to understand, create and implement patterns.

Human languages have so many words that sound the same but mean different things, we have letters that look almost identical save a couple dots but mean different sounds, and we've successfully cracked codes and translated dead languages based on just the patterns of use for letters.

It's not that we've got amazing technology or insane adaptations, because let's be real, humans are stuck in perpetual beta testing phase, it's that we can see and understand complex patterns on such an insane scale.

Other races have achieved technological greatness through maths passed down for generations, and some were functionally immortal on the basis of well bred genetics, bur humans. Humans were wicked smart.

Humans could tell a lie through body language after just a few minutes of observation. Humans could know where their opponent was going to hit next just from knowing where they've hit before. Humans can learn languages just from having a trained team listen to or read excerpts.

And most infuriatingly, they could figure out fair prize puzzles in no time flat, so much so that they are banned from most hustler games.

Thinking about how Percy should not have been the child of prophecy but it ended up being him anyway. Because there were TWO children of the Big Three in front of him: Thalia and Bianca. By all rights, it should have been one of them. While Bianca's case is more complicated, Thalia should have had to deal with the prophecy before Percy even got to Camp Half-Blood at 12...but because of a bunch of circumstances completely outside of his control, it fell to Percy to fulfill it.

And Percy was offered the choice on at least one occasion to pass the burden of the prophecy onto Nico but actively chose not to:

Fucks me up to think about how Legato's legacy in-universe after his death in Trimax (and presumably Tristamp) is probably gonna be how much he sucked and nothing else....

Like, nobody will like Knives but Vash will be long-lived enough to be able to eventually talk about his good qualities from when he was a child and his quasi-redemption in his last days. But who remembers Legato? Livio and Vash are the only living people with any extended memory of him and neither of them would have anything nice to say (and rightfully so). Neither of them probably knew he was a slave, either—as far as Vash can tell this dude showed up one day and hated his guts, for all he knows he's just another survivor from July! Outside of Knives, Elendira, Legato, and maybe Conrad, I don't think any other character knows his actual life story.

And to add on to that, there's no way of looking up that past either—he had no name or personhood before he was effectively rescued, so who could investigators or reporters or archivists track down for information? The human being that was Legato only existed for as long as he knew Knives, before that he was something to be kept and abused as an object. There's presumably no surviving family they can reliably contact, nobody to really say "yes I knew him, here's what his life was like, here's how we can prevent something like this from happening again".

His entire existence will be reduced down to "a human weapon that was freakishly loyal to public enemy #1" without any reflection on the mechanisms that made him the way he was because there's just no actual knowledge of his life.

I was going to hate Gale the moment he was such an ass about Katniss wanting to bring Peeta and Haymitch when they ran away. Truly showed his colors right there.

Still baffled that Hopes so blatantly wrote Claude as the typical Evil Vaguely Middle Eastern Man set on destroying the Good White Nation for his Evil Vaguely Middle Eastern Nation that is often seen in fantasy settings - complete with him being seen as worse than a white woman who does many of the same evil deeds he does in-verse, even by his friends (should it be the bad ending route of SB) - and so many in the fandom were so eager to gobble that shit up. INSIST that "Clearly A Racist Stereotype" is LEAGUES better than "Subversion Of A Racist Stereotype" even. Like I don't think I'll ever get over how supremely fucked that is

thank you for the request, i tried so hard to talk through this fit but as i said at the end, it was so hard to get a word out between the tickle itself and the sneezes it was producing.

it was so hard to hold back against that classic desperate, allergic itch i’ve gotten used to—and stifling the sneezes that i couldn’t keep in just drove the tickle further up my nose—but this fit came at a late enough hour that everyone was sleeping and i didn’t want to risk being too loud and waking anybody up (or worse, getting caught recording myself sneezing and talking about how bad my allergies are…)

i’m not usually allergic to dogs and when i am it’s mild, but holding back, especially when it comes to my allergies, makes my nose 10x more dramatic than usual
