Rating KinnPorsche ghost ships:
PetePorsche - 10/10
Tumblr media
Adorable, amazing, brilliant, showstopping, spectacular! Best friend to lovers to soulmates for the win. Really pure ship. What else is there to say? Pete and Porsche will sneak away on little dates, mostly to eat and smoke. They will be partners in crime to all sorts of crazy ideas. Pete will definitely go and open a restaurant by the beach with Porsche. Pete and Chay will be best friends. Chay will also have to be the mom of the group because the other two morons don’t know what self preservation is. Pete’s grandma will be so happy that Pete has found such strong and beautiful boyfriend, she will start sending food to feed a small army claiming Porsche and Chay need to grow even stronger.
MacauChay - 7/10
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Love them! I really do! But those little gremlins will kill each other if they date. I see why people ship them. They’re both from a broken family with only one brother to rely on. They’re both trapped in their circumstances and may find comfort and understanding in one another. They will absolutely hate each other at first, though.
ChanBig - 10/10
Tumblr media
Did someone said Daddy Chan? I think we all saw that scene in ep1 and we collectively went - yep, they fuck. It’s the way Chan has all the power, the way Big doesn’t want to disappoint him. My daddy issues could never. It’s their power dynamic, it’s Big refusing to look at Chan’s eyes, it’s Chan being firm but gentle. I don’t need to say anything more, there are already amazingly slutty fanfics about them.
VegasTay - 10/10
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This ship gets bonus points for the aesthetics alone, they are both gorgeously styled. I can see it happening as a one night stand. When Tay has finally had enough of Time’s bullshit, he goes to a club and sees Vegas there. Tay is ready to make some bad decisions. Vegas on the other hand has no idea what is happening, but one of Kinn’s best friends is flirting with him and he’ll be a fool to miss that opportunity. Vegas wrecks Tay’s world that night. Tay tells him he can leave marks. Vegas knows that his definition of “marks” is different from most so he controls himself. It will be so much more satisfying if Kinn’s friend does not regret this in the morning. Afterwards Tay tells the story of his shitty relationship and Vegas suggest murdering Time. Tay should have found that calm statement frightening, but he didn’t. He actually found it quite funny. Having his friend’s hot psycho cousin care more about his feelings than his actual boyfriend. Tay suggests doing that again, gathers his things and leaves. Vegas doesn’t know why he never told anybody about that night, maybe he forgot.
ArmKhun - 8/10
Tumblr media
I’m taking points out because of the power imbalance and I’m giving points back because of the aesthetic. Diva Khun and Bodyguard Arm! Yes, give me more. The scene of them fighting the minor family with Arm’s car-bombs which were bedazzled in gems by Khun is what sealed the deal for me. They are an amazing team. Khun is such a fun and crazy character and I would like to see him in a more serious situation. What if he gets a gun pointed at him and goes into a ptsd episode while Arm has to be the best bodyguard and protect him but also later calm him down. The crack but also angst potential is astonishing.
KenBig - 6/10
Tumblr media
Someone said they are the Mean Girls of KinnPorsche and it hasn’t left my mind since. Yes they are! Them just gossiping around and making everyone’s life miserable, love to see it. Don’t know if I can see them as something more serious than fuck buddies but I see the angst potential of both of them dying without knowing about what happened to the other.
ArmPorsche - 7/10
Tumblr media
I’m seeing this starting as one sided love because notice how Arm looks at Porsche, that boy is in loooove! He was ready to go against his boss just to help Porsche. If Kinn was actually cheating on Porsche, those two boys would be game.
KinnPete - 6/10
Tumblr media
Pretty sure this ship became famous after VegasPorsche left KinnPete in the dust in that alley. I can’t see this ship working, surprisingly because Kinn is a cinnamon roll when he’s in love and Pete is a psycho when he’s in love. But there is something really homoerotic about Kinn having trust issues and Pete being the only one he trust unconditionally. I can see it if the story takes a “dead dove do not eat” approach. With Porsche betraying Kinn and Kinn turning dark, and Vegas betraying Pete and Pete turning desperate.

Okay, hear me out though.
Macau and Chay become besties. Macau tends to greet Chay by saying "Hey baby" (don't @ me, some of us greet our friends like that).
Just Kim yelling in the distance, about to go absolutely feral, and Chay just blushing prettily.

Kinnporsche s2 thoughts
Thinking about a possible s2, I ended up writing down thoughts on three subjects: the mystery of who killed Chaiphat Kittisawat, the three versions of Kinnporsche and the significance behind the ending of the show.
The Mystery of Chaiphat Kittisawat’s murder
One of the things that’s been on my mind since Kinnporsche’s ep 114 is the question of which one of the brothers, Korn or Gun, was responsible for the murder of Porsche and Chay’s father. The finale certainly left an eerie sense of this question being unresolved. We have two brothers and we see a flashback for each one, where they tell their version, both claiming they were calm and collected back then, while it was their brother who reacted in the extreme, shooting and killing Chaiphat, destroying the whole family in the process.
But only one version can be right. We’re never shown explicitly which one is it. Korn and Gun are both brutal men, willing to manipulate their sons, to kill without flinching and all in the service of their own personal agenda. They have a horrible rivalry, yes. But it turns out all this time that all along, there was another issue between them revolving around their foster sister, Namphueng. Both of them seem obsessed with her, even. Gun loved her so much, he basically went to war with his brother when he thought that brother killed her (and his obsession if enough for him to be accused of sexually molesting her without it seeming too far fetched), while Korn literally hid her from the whole world for years, keeping her all to himself, without anyone’s knowledge or consent.
It’s fucked up no matter which brother killed their foster brother-in-law, destroying their foster sister and her sons in the process. And yet, one brother ends the ep still standing, and still very much a part of Kinnporsche’s life, so anyone curious about what the future might hold for this family if there’s a s2 would probably also want to know the answer.
Truth is, unlike with a lot of other ‘Rashomon’ shows and movies (where there are several contradicting scenarios and we see them all play out on screen), I think we were given the answer, though in a slightly indirect way. I already felt like we probably did when Korn, at seeing the picture of Kinn and Porsche hugging that Khun took and sent him, says to no one in particular, “History is written by the victor.” Why would he say that? Unless he knows his version is false, Gun’s was the real one, but it doesn’t matter, because Korn won.  Gun was emotionally destroyed by the secret Korn sprang on him, enough to take him out physically, while Kinn and Porsche accepted Korn’s lie and moved on.
But there’s more. Korn and Gun’s versions of the murder can’t both be true, but they do share one thing. Both of them depicted the calmer brother (in each brother’s version, it’s he himself) as sitting down, while the brother who committed the murder was standing up. In 113, some of Porsche’s memories return to him. Not everything, we don’t see who fired the fatal shot. He doesn’t know who murdered his father. But through his eyes we do see that it was Korn who was standing up. Since we know from both flashbacks something Porsche doesn’t, that the murderer was standing up, we can come to the conclusion Porsche can’t, that it was Korn indeed who killed his foster brother-in-law, traumatized his foster sister to the point where she had tried to commit suicide, leaving her incapacitated and her sons orphaned, and drove Gun mad with grief and anger.
Now don’t get me wrong, the Gun we meet in the show is a cruel man. But who knows, would he have been a different, kinder person had Korn not done this to his family? Would Gun still been such a miserable, abusive cunt to his sons if not for this war that Korn started with a reckless murder? It’s implied their own father was a douchebag who pitted them against each other, someone who was likely manipulative and demanding of total loyalty from his sons (it’s seemingly that loyalty which made Korn kill Chaiphat after his accusations of Namphueng’s adoption not being an innocent one, that her family was killed by the man who took her in). So maybe Korn and Gun would have been rivals still. But it might not have been an all out war that drenched their sons too in blood.
The three versions of Kinnporsche
It’s interesting to me to consider the many possibilities for how things would have turned out if it weren’t for that murder, but one thing I am sure of: Kinn and Porsche would have somehow ended up together no matter what. This show spells it out: they’re soulmates. And a part of how the show does that is by exploring not one, but three versions of Kinnporsche.
That’s right, I said it. When I first learned that despite only one couple being featured in the show title, Kinnporsche The Series would be tracking three pairings, I was surprised by this choice. Why not go for a more inclusive title? But after watching the show I realized that it actually makes perfect sense since the other two couples are actually variations on a theme.
First we have VegasPete. They could be called the darker Kinnporsche version. In both cases, we have a mafia family’s heir who is manipulated by a domineering father that demands absolute loyalty, and this mafia prince is seemingly tough, even cruel at times, but he’s secretly craving love underneath the exterior he had to adopt. He meets a young bodyguard, seemingly far sweeter and more innocent than himself (but in reality, someone with his own baggage and dark side), someone who is also seemingly way below him in social standings, but who turns out to be the one person who can crack that armor, get under the mafia prince’s skin and show him that he can open up, trust and love.
Since VegasPete is a darker Kinnporsche, we have a similar theme for both couples in the imbalance of power that exists at first between the two, where the mafia prince starts out having the upper hand, but then the innocent(er) bodyguard defies his expectations, colors outside of the lines, and eventually becomes someone who, because of the love they come to share, even has power himself over the mafia prince. Because VegasPete is the darker version, where Kinnporsche come across as having soft dom/bratty sub undertones, VegasPete are hardcore BDSM.
The main difference that establishes the darker nature of this version is that Vegas was corrupted by his dad. We never see Kinn being cruel for the sake of cruelty, or taking joy in the brutality itself rather than in the act of exerting his power as a mafia boss proving himself, we also do see him caring about the wellbeing of his men outside of Porsche (Pete, Big, chiding himself for not being a good enough boss when talking to Arm). Korn wants to turn off the caring side of Kinn, but fails. Twice he tries to turn Kinn against the man he’s in love with, Porsche, and twice Korn eventually fails. Kinn’s heart wins over his father’s explicit wishes.
Vegas, in contrast, is the guy who was corrupted, who did embrace cruelty and took pleasure in it, who’s capable of coldly exploiting people and their feelings, who only shows real care for the people he’s personally invested in (his younger brother and his love interest). Would he have ended up choosing Pete if Gun explicitly asked Vegas to turn on him, as Kinn was? We don’t know, Gun never demands that, but Vegas’ choice to fight in the big battle with his dad and against the main family, in accordance with his father’s wishes, even though that would destroy some of the people Pete cares about, can be taken as the answer. He does love Pete, Vegas is not capable of killing him, but Vegas is also not able to free himself from his father’s wishes which corrupted him. But I find it very meaningful that in spite of that, he and Pete get their happy ending with Macau. Their love is strong enough to overcome whatever obstacle was placed in their way due to Gun corrupting Vegas. And if the darkest version of Kinnporsche can overcome everything and get to have and enjoy their love and their happy ending, then any version of them can.
If VegasPete are the darker Kinnporsche, KimChay are the more innocent one. First off, they’re literally Kinn and Porsche’s younger brothers, literally younger (which is usually also seen as more innocent) versions of our leads. In addition, we learn in 106 that if Kinn didn’t have to be his mafia family’s heir, he would have wanted to leave that world altogether and to pursue a musical career. That’s what Kim gets to do. He’s the version that gets to walk away from the darkness that corrupted his family. At the same time, Chay is like a version of who Porsche could have been if he wasn’t saddled with the burden of taking care of himself, his younger brother and a gambling uncle’s debts due to his parents’ death, causing him to turn to dark solutions like an underground fighting ring. Also, the hopelessly romantic Chay reflects in that as well who Porsche might have been. When we meet him, Porsche doesn’t trust people because of all he’s been through in losing his parents and dealing with the debt collectors, so he has no faith in the possibility of romance, he detaches himself from it because his younger brother is more important in any case, and Porsche isn’t emotionally available to anything that would distract him from looking after Chay and earning the money needed for his tuition and keeping their house. So yeah, when you watch Chay hiding his messages for Kim, just remember that’s the level of trust in others Porsche could have had, too.
But despite Kim walking away from the underworld of the mafia, or Chay being relatively untouched by their circumstance, they still find their way to each other, they still fall in love. The show implies Kim didn’t know who Chay was until after they meet and after he already indicates he thinks Chay’s crush (and Chay himself) is cute. It’s implied that fate is what makes them cross paths, just like fate brought Kinn on that night he was running away from his attackers into the alley next to Yok’s bar, where Porsche happened to be at the time. Most things on the show happen due to cruel, strategic machinations by Korn and Gun, but not this. Not the way the Theerapanyakul brothers meet their respective Kittisawat soulmates.
But walking away from the darkness doesn’t mean that darkness doesn’t come after you. Just like Kinn’s mafia life puts Porsche in danger and he has to save his love’s life from a bullet meant for him (twice!) so danger comes for Chay too because of the Theerapanyakul family, and Kim shows up to save him twice, one at the warehouse Tawan had kidnapped Chay to, and once at Yok’s bar after the minor family’s after Porsche’s brother because of Porsche’s connection to the main family. And just like Kinn at one point pretended not to care about Porsche because he was scared of opening up and trusting and loving someone else in that dark world he was born into, which could have meant Porsche walking away from him, we also see Kim being scared of owning his own feelings and pretending he doesn’t care about Chay. But towards the end of s1, he confesses his true feelings in the form of a song, mirroring Chay’s own love confession. Would Kim be forgiven? We don’t know. But hey, if the darkest version of Kinnporsche can make it, the most innocent one probably will eventually get a happy ending as well.
The ending of Kinnporsche
What might s2 entail if we get one? You might have gathered that I think we’ll see the show diving into Korn and his destructive influence on his family, hopefully to in order get Kinn and Porsche free from him for good, and we also probably will see KimChay finally getting their happy ending. But let me say something about why I can live perfectly happy with the ending we had at the end of s1 even if we never get a s2.
For one thing, I wrote in this meta post why I feel that Kinnporsche’s happy ending is one that indicates they can overcome anything that might come their way later in life. They have the love and trust they need for that. In a sense, they’ve also both already chosen each other over their family’s dark history. Sure, discovering Korn did actually kill Porsche’s dad would be a huge test, and dramatically it would probably unfold in the most extra testing way possible, but at the end of the day, Kinn is not Korn, and he is capable of rejecting his father’s demands. And they have chosen and committed themselves to each other in ways that are so profound, I don’t think either one of them is capable of living without the other. So I’m not scared for them. I would love to see them overcoming obstacles together, but I know they would even if I don’t get to see it on screen.
But I also wrote in that post the note they end on is a symbolic “wedding,” with the exchange of rings, vows, with a celebration of their love, their commitment to each other and their choice to turn their two families into one. In a way, they’ll be raising a kid together as well, we kind of see it a bit when Kinn helps Porsche by serving him and Chay food. They’re also recognized and accepted by their families as equal and loving partners. What is that if not a marriage?
So let’s briefly talk about LGBTQ rights in Thailand. In an index measuring these rights around the world, Thailand comes in at number 89 out of 198 countries and territories. That’s roughly half way. What happens if we compare it with countries of similar or close backgrounds? If we look at the Asian countries on the list alone (which I did to save y'all the trouble), Israel comes in at #1 for gay rights in Asia, Nepal is the next one, followed by Japan, India, Laos, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Bhutan, Uzbekistan, Philippines, Timor-Leste, Vietnam and then we have Thailand. That’s number 13 out of 51 countries and territories in Asia. Better than the global comparison, but still not quite at the top. I have to admit that I was surprised, I used to think the state of gay rights in Thailand would place it in one of the top three positions. So I had a look around, and I found that according to a 2017 survey, Tel Aviv ranked the best city for LGBTQ tourism in Asia, and Bangkok landed at #2. I guess that’s one reason why people like me might have thought the state of Thailand’s LGBTQ rights is better than it is.
As I was looking through the article about it, I learned gay marriage is still illegal in Thailand.
I would be sad not to see our beloved characters again if we don’t get a s2, but I have to admit in that case, I’m so happy we got a symbolic wedding at the end of s1. For Thai audiences more than anything, as well as for other countries watching this. For all places where gay marriage is still not recognized.
KPTS was in a lot of ways very raw and real. Even when compared to a lot of other shows from all over the world and all sorts of genres, but especially when compared to romance shows, that don’t usually go as hard as Kinnporsche The Series did. Yes, even with the backdrop of the mafia world and slides into comedy. The way it depicted love and sexuality between two people of the same sex so honestly, the way it acknowledged the importance of building trust, the way it didn’t gloss over pain, and it insisted on showing those very real aspects of a relationship between same sex characters, it has the potential to touch a lot of minds and hearts, and make the real lives of many people better. I can’t ask for anything more from a show that’s already given us so much.

Some more questions for you all, because I’m bored and I love getting your thoughts:
Who is your favorite character? Did it change throughout the series?
…and…
Who is the character you like the least?
(And why, of course)

I love that small part of the kp fandom who headcanon Chay as trans. Like, imagine Chay coming out to Porsche as ftm and the next day Porsche appears with multiple stuff with trans flags on it, amd he's like "BEEEE WHO YOU AAAAAAARE 💖💖💖💖💖"
