Revitalizing The Heritage Of Socialist Modernism: BACU’s Online Initiative To Protect Central And Eastern European Architecture
Preserving the monumental yet decaying structures of central and eastern Europe erected between 1955-91 is the mission of the online initiative, Socialist Modernism, created by the Bureau for Art and Urban Research (BACU). With an aim to revitalize this heritage, BACU believes in the significance of these elements which managed to defy some of the ideological requirements of their time, giving the urban space a distinct flavor characteristic of the socialist period.

Georgia, 1177
For twenty years King Giorgi has defended the throne of his fragile kingdom against all comers. Now on the threshold of old age he faces a grave new threat: he has no son to succeed him. There is only his daughter, Tamar; a clever, indomitable and fearless girl.
When a revolt threatens her life, Tamar is sent to live in the mountains, disguised as a boy, until a devastating betrayal places her in the hands of her enemies. Her courageous escape convinces Giorgi she should be his heir, but the nobles are outraged - no woman will ever rule them.
While her father is alive, Tamar has some protection from the hostile forces that surround her, but once he is dead, she is truly alone. She must find the strength to control the bitterly warring factions at court. She must win the respect of her friends and the fear of her enemies. And she must marry a man of whom the elders approve.
But her heart belongs to a reckless boy from the mountains - a poor match for a queen. With rebellion brewing at home and powerful foes circling her borders, Tamar must make a terrible choice between the man she loves and the land she adores ...

My thoughts:
Historical badass girl and palace intrigue! Seems to be out of print, though?

Giorgland Fables Series: Battles of Giorgland and Warrior's Love
Author: Tamuna Tsertsvadze
YA World Challenge read for 🇬🇪 Georgia
Review
This set of two short stories features the adventures of various Georgian mythological gods in the heavenly realm of Zeskneli. In the first book, a couple of demi-god losers decide that to win the hearts of their goddess crushes, they'll go on an adventure to acquire Pokémon mythical creature companions. In the second book, a timid flower goddess has demon-induced nightmares and must seek out the god she's most afraid of.
These were light-hearted reads that were a little cheesy but also rich in description of the godly world, making them a fun fantasy escape. While there is awkwardness in the dialogue from (I assume) a non-native English speaker author, the sense of humor is still enjoyable, and you can tell the author has love for these characters.
There is a glossary of characters at the end of the books, though I missed having any kind of author's note - I was curious to know how much was borrowed from folktales and how much was the author's imagination.
Check it out to expand your mythology pantheons past the usual Greeks.

Awards Season 2023-24: Awards Round-Up 1/6
This is going up a little sooner than I expected, since the awards groups are coming on thick and fast in the new year. (According to Awards Daily, my go-to source for awards news, five groups are announcing their awards on the 6th alone.) This time around, we’ve got 13 groups to cover:
Alliance of Women Film Journalists (AWFJ)
Black Film Critics Circle (BFCC)
Critics Association of Central…
