You know, I’m firmly in the camp of “don’t trust celebrities in general” because so many of them are shitty people (either openly or not-so-secretly), but I really hate when yet another celebrity is outed. Because it SO QUICKLY goes from genuine fans being sad and actual commentary on the situation - or even just “yeah I kinda always had a feeling about them”- to racism, misogyny, fatphobia, etc.

I 100% think that we need to hold people like Doja Cat and Taylor Swift and Lizzo and Ariana Grande accountable for their actions, but I am so fucking sick of seeing all the brainrot incels come out of the woodwork thinking it’s their time to shine, and just shitting all over these women for being women, for being fat, and/or for being black.

Just because I don’t like or support someone doesn’t mean I want to sit and listen to you spout vile hateful bigoted shit about them. Because guess what, all that stuff you’re saying applies to billions of good people. And if you think it’s okay to be racist and misogynistic and fatphobic to bad people, it is ONLY EVER because you are a racist, a misogynist, and a fatphobe.

It’s like when people think it’s okay to misgender or deadname a trans person just because said trans person turned out to be an asshole. That is not okay. And it’s not about “respect” for the person, it’s not about consideration. It’s because misgendering someone (intentionally) is wrong.

So I couldn’t care less about Hailey Bieber or Selena and any of this drama perpetuated by TikTok but it’s insane the amount of support Selena Gomez gets when she has history of being a drama instigator and has constantly weaponized her fanbase to hurt and bully women online. Hailey is just another one of the countless women [mostly models] she has encouraged narratives about for the internet to tear them apart, it happened with Sofia Richie, Barbara Palvin and every other women that is somehow involved with Justin Bieber. She’s not a victim. She’s been long enough in this industry to know how her fandom operates. But it’s easier to rally behind her because she has the nostalgia persona attached to her narrative.

People dismissing the fact she’s been following and commenting on TikTok’s focused on hating Hailey and hyping these theories for months is wild and it shows you how easy it is to manipulate the audience. It’s not crazy to think this is some PR situation due to Hailey’s growing popularity in the beauty space. I think it’s crazy her whole label is "treat people with kindness" when she always lights the fire and pretends she’s doing everything in her power to tune it down and only “speaks” for others when the damage has been done. She has some clear insecurity problems going on with her and she seeks that validation from the internet. She knew exactly what she was doing when she said “she wishes she looked like Bella Hadid” because she knew her deranged fandom would bring up her plastic surgeries — her talking about one of her exes ex girlfriend was premeditated and there’s a reason her only friend in the industry is Taylor Swift who operates with the same self victimize narrative.

All of her behavior has been so calculated it’s actually impressive. The hate Hailey has been getting is not normal. You people don’t treat men like this. It’s too late for Selena to claim to be the bigger person. She was on TikTok a few weeks thanking her fandom and claiming they’re “the best” while she had women being dragged to moon and back online. It’s very easy to see the issue here and I won’t be surprised she’s due to release music or some product soon. The desire to glorify these celebrities that don’t care about you and self insert into these delusions is so scary to me. Genuinely scary.

I didn’t know her history when it came to her relationships but Ethan Slater and her are both in the wrong. Definitely criticizing Ethan more as he’s the one who made the dumbass decision but I will shoot some at Ari too. What business do you have trying to get with someone who’s taken? This euphoria of being able to take anybodies man may be great to you but the damage you cause to the other party is even greater. It sucks that she doesn’t care but it is what it is.

I really haven’t even organized my thoughts when it comes to Lizzo. It’s all around disgusting. I hope the consequences hit her the hardest. I hope those dancers get justice and find work that offers comfort, respect and safety.

Ik nobody cares, and celebrity gossip is usually frivolous to me, but-

MY GOD doja cat has gotten on my fkin nerves.  So many young musicians would KILL to have the success she’s had, and recently she’s spat all over it because it’s “too mainstream”

Her responses to hate on Instagram live are wildly unprofessional. I’m not saying that the hate she’s gotten is *warranted*, or she should just take it, absolutely not. 

All I’m saying is if she really truly “doesn’t care” what people think, there wouldn’t be clips upon clips of her tearing out some random person who said something stupid

If you want to go in a different direction in your music. THATS FINE. It’s expected as an artist to grow and not like their old stuff.

But WHYYYY is she completely alienating the people who have got her where she is? She owes EVERYTHING she has to them, and she shat all over that

If hate gets to her, THATS FINE. That’s normal, just talk it out in a private setting with someone you trust and MOVE ONNNN.

She’s not some niche SoundCloud rapper anymore. As a public figure, she *does* have a responsibility to not throw her weight over people who have much less power than her. There is an inherent power imbalance when a celebrity publicly addresses someone, which she doesn’t seem to be getting 

And this isn’t me saying that she deserves hate, or that she’s a bad person. Because she’s not, I don’t know her and I don’t know her life. This isn’t a “callout” or anything like that

All that I’m getting is if she doesn’t radically change the direction of her career *soon*, in a couple years she’s gonna be another “popular musician who descends into a mental breakdown” story. It’s genuinely disheartening to watch

If worst case scenario, her original fanbase completely deserts her and her new album flops. Then what?
