So I’m gonna make this post. Someone posted about the script of The Battle of Starcourt. The ones with the red highlights (first ones are the original one that was uploaded) I definitely remember it. As I saw it a couple years ago when they got them. However now the second one is a screencap I just took and what the linked scripts say now. They literally have removed what Mike thinks! Very suspicious if you ask me!!
Here in the original script Mike’s questioning why he didn’t say it back to El and asking what’s wrong with him. I remember reading this when they got them. I remember him being mad at himself why he didn’t say I love you back. I noticed the change when I went to remember what was said and I noticed it was gone from the one they have now. The new version makes it look like maybe Finn acted the scene the way he did when the first one which is the one I remember and am familiar with shows it’s the direction. The script scene just makes it look cute awkward no struggle with emotions. Vs the original one has inner struggle and conflict. This one even says SHE leans in vs the other one takes it away. And removes what the hell just happened?
It’s so unfortunate for us that saw this before coz we saw their direction and what it was on there but now when it’s linked it’s gone because now there’s reasonable doubt that it’s not there! Also lowkey it contradicts what Mike says that he doesn’t say I love you to El as a conscious decision because he’s afraid she doesn’t need him anymore and it would hurt more. Now here it shows he is questioning why can’t I say it and he’s frustrated at himself and wondering what’s happening!?? It contradicts his speech coz he says a reason given is a conscious decision rather than not knowing why when clearly in S3E8 he can’t say it again and doesn’t know why. I remember they said they were contemplating ending in s4 so I was thinking they may have initially left it in so that initially planning s4 as the end they would not have him false confess to have an Empire Strikes Back season. They’d beat Vecna like they would in s5 and the answer to why he can’t say I love you would be you know coz he fell for Will and didn’t want to say it when he didn’t mean it. But maybe they decided to draw out the plot so s4 reveals Will’s feelings and s5 reveals Mike’s. I don’t know I just have so many thoughts on this. As a person who saw this when it came out to seeing what the script is now it sucks the link won’t link to the version I saw before.
OK LISTEN WHY DID THEY USE THE RAIN SCENE AFTER HIS FIGHT WITH MIKE?? AND LOOK IT SAYS HE MAY HAVE A CRUSH-. IK IM REACHING BUT THEY COULD HAVE USED THE WILL THE WISE COSTUME PHOTO BUT NOOO, THEY USE THE ONE AFTER THE "Its not my fault you dont like girls" THING. THAT COULD BE SAYING THAT HIS CRUSH IS ON MIKE. I SOUND SO CRAZY BUT IDC.
Both of these scenes are so similar and the captions both say … after the just! I can’t help but think they planned on byler endgame/ Mike being gay since s1.
People saying “I hope that if Will and Mike won’t end up together, Will still gets a love interest.” Is crazy because I don’t think Will “but you make (me) feel like (I’m) not a mistake at all” Byers is physically capable of looking at another human being.
can we talk about the fact that will being in love with mike literally wasn't necessary. in s1 they're best friends and yeah will is hinted at being queer but nothing about him liking mike. in s2 we see they have a close bond but still no hard evidence. then s3 hits us with the truck that is jealous will byers, but even then it's technically not explicitly confirmed. but they still do in S4. like, they didn't NEED to have will like mike. but they did anyway. like, there's a reason they're doing this. there's no point in will loving mike if it isn't important.
I notice something so in the scene with El and Mike in Battle of Starcourt. It says it’s getting awkward and they KEEP That but deleted SO awkward … and in the airport scene ep 2 of s4 Argyle says ‘yeah man this is getting awkward’ and then Mike says ‘yeah SO awkward’ so the awkwardness in my opinion in the mileven scene in star court is connected to the awkwardness at the airport scene in Vecna’s Curse. He didn’t know why he can’t say I love you back. And then the awkwardness is with Will in the airport scene is the reason he didn’t say I love you! So I don’t know I think some things cut are important!
The so awkward is no longer in the script now but interesting 👀 same wording for both scene and dialogue in Vecna’s Curse like the awkwardness is connected.
So we've seen Mike wearing Will's shoes in s5 for whatever reason.... but could it be symbolism?
in simple words, literally AND figuratively Mike is putting himself in Will's shoes. figuratively, because s5 Mike is going to experience what s4 Will went through. Their roles are going to be reversed.
the phrase "to put yourself in someone else's shoes" is to experience (or at least imagine) what they went/are going through.
firstly, s4 was strictly filmed from Will's pov, showing almost nothing from Mike's. this does make it feel as if mikes character arc has been left on a cliff hanger since the ending of s3, where we did get to see more into Mike's mind, and that spoke a lot to us.
so far, what we can confirm is that Will Byers is in love with Mike Wheeler, mostly from his pov being the main focus of the love triangle in s4. they made it clear for us. yet, Mike's perspective is still blurry.
thats the main reason why i think it would only make sense for s5 to show Mike's pov a LOT, and reveal some things that weren't necessarily obvious in s4 (for one, Mike's feelings for Will).
knowing we're finally going to be seeing Mike's pov, we'll see him pining over Will, just like Will did s4. they are going to switch their roles on screen, we'll see Mike, now that he doesn't have to deal with his relationship issues with El and his (not necessarily) new issue of how he doesn't think Will could ever love him back. and Will, is going to be trying to resolve issues with his connections to vecna.
my main point is, the writers are going to figuratively put Mike in wills shoes. Mike is going to be pining over Will this season, and it will be explicitly shown this time.
not done!!!
these are Mike and Will's shoes in s2. keep note of the designs and colors.
these are Mike's shoes in s5. coincidentally (not), they have the same design as his shoes in s2. but the colors seem to be the opposite?
now these are Will's shoes in s5. they too keep the same design as his own shoes in s2, and the colors are opposite, just like Mike's shoes.
or... the colors are reversed.
Mike and Will's shoes kept the same designs from s2, but the colors are reversed, just like their roles will be in s5.
