What is your opinion on Dick Malverne? Favorite canon Kara love interest? Favorite Kara sapphic ship? Which one of pre-crisis Kara's job did you enjoy the most? If you could choose one member of the main Superfam (Clark, Lois, Jon, Kon, Kenan, Nat and John) to have a team-up book with Kara, which one would you choose? If you could have a past Supergirl writer come back to write an ongoing for her, who would you choose (excluding Starling Gates cuz he is an obvious answer)?

i don’t have a lot of deep thoughts on dick malverne tbh! i liked how he was written in solo (2004) #1 and i think his silver age version is funny purely bc he’s kind of insane, but i don’t really think about him all that often. i do think it’d be fun if they brought both him and jerro the merboy back into main continuity if only because they’re specifically kara’s supporting characters.

hmmm favorite canon love interest is hard bc i don’t really care about any of her boyfriends lmao. i did think that the relationship drama between kara and phil decker in supergirl vol 2 was entertaining so i’ll say him. and i wouldn’t really classify him as a canon love interest for kara but i thought her little relationship with ryand’r was fun in sg vol 7

my favorite sapphic ship is definitely a toss up between kara/maxima and kara/thara ak var. i also have a soft spot for kara/lucy lane from the 1984 supergirl movie <3. and honestly i kinda love the superman family era kara/lena (i didn’t really care abt them in the silver age). i’m pretty sure lena was one of the only civilian characters (excluding fred/enda) who knew about kara’s double life (even tho she eventually forgot about it) and their dynamic in the 70s was fun.

as for my favorite job for pre-crisis kara i feel like i mention it all the time but i loved when she was an actress. i think that’s such a fun/unique job and it opens up a lot of possible complications wrt kara keeping her identity hidden that could be fun to explore. and as someone who's an art guild kara truther it ties into that as well <3

now this might be a boring answer but i would love a clark and kara team up book. i literally love their relationship so much and i feel like there’s still a lot to explore with their dynamic. any time her and clark have a heart to heart with one another is so sweet to me... my fav examples of this are in supergirl vol 5 #34, the superman family #208, and superman vol 1 #376 <3 also their camping trip in superman/supergirl: maelstrom <33

now in regards to having a past supergirl writer (who’s not sterling gates) come back to write another ongoing for her I’d choose steve orlando! i’ve talked before about how i don’t really like his run on sg vol 7, but everything i don’t like centers on the fact that it’s meant to synergize with the cw show. I generally liked how orlando wrote kara and i enjoyed a lot of the storylines he gave her as well. like i don’t like cw jeremiah/eliza or the deo but i thought that his interpretations of those characters and whatnot were enjoyable. and it’d be fun to see how he would write kara in adulthood when he doesn’t have an obligation to match the cw show.

name: i'm an internet old, so i never use my real name online, mainly because it's spelled in a very unique way (thanks mom & dad) - i mean like, if you googled it you could find my home address in a few seconds kind of unique - but also, though i do enjoy the spelling, i actually don't like it very much when it's said out loud? (is it weird that my name written down is 'me', but my name aloud has never felt like 'me'?) always wanted a nickname but never acquired one :/

fave bands/groups/solo artists: lumping these together because i just .. don't really do music much anymore. if you had asked me this back in my 20s i'm sure i would have had all kinds of opinions and things to share, but these days i actually mostly prefer to listen music from when i was a kid. part of it is also that as an old, i prefer to buy my music, even digitally, and i don't really use spotify - which does so much to enable diverse music exploration i admit! but i mostly have earplugs in all the time and music does not work for me as background noise, so...

so i guess my answer would be 70s disco and classic rock and 80s new wave artists? i've never liked any artist's entire discography and prefer greatest hits-type compilations, but i guess duran duran and def leppard and depeche mode would be considered formative? i love new order but specifically late 80s new order, NOT joy division. the only concert t-shirt i've ever worn was the cult? i loved sonic temple but i can't listen to most of it anymore though i still adore love removal machine. i think maybe if you get old enough, for some of us there's TOO MUCH good music and we can't pare it down anymore

top three fictional universe you'd like to live in: none really, if i had to still be me..maybe some kind of actually utopian future? but the pandemic has confirmed for me that i do NOT like living in interesting times, so most fictional story universes are RIGHT out. my favorites to read about like discworld or diana wynne jones' worlds would be way to chaotic for my comfort. possibly diane duane's young wizards universe would be safe enough to be okay?

last song: watching center stage made me think of my dance playlist so sunrise by simply red

last movielast stream: i don't watch streams or youtube often, so it was the same as you, vish! liu chang's birthday stream was SO enjoyable i screenrecorded the entire thing just so i could play it back (and maybe gif sometime if i ever get the drive to actually do it)

currently reading: well i just finished the translated quan qiu gao kao or global university entrance exam novel, which was sparked purely from catching a single rec post here on tumblr and basically just *falling* into this 166 chapter epic that is *amazing* and not coming up for air until i got to the end, which is typical novel-reading behavior for me (yes i was the kid who read through lunch period and got hassled by people who kept pestering me with "what're you reading" questions and yes i realize probably a lot of you on tumblr were too) plus, the new murderbot novel is out tomorrow!!!!! so that'll be where i end up next!

currently watching: the entire dmbj verse (that i can get my hands on) but ... sporadically and stopping at random different parts because the thing is ... this type of show is not really the kind i enjoy so much? so since it's more for "research" and learning character arcs (and let's be honest: shots of liu sang), etc. it's easy to get distracted by other stuff. i'm also watching the sleuth of the ming dynasty, mr queen, bromance, the expanse, re-watching farscape and stargate sg-1, just finished the falcon and the winter soldier, and then anytime something new and short gets introduced it jumps the queue. there are just. so. many. things. to. watch! (now i have to look into anti-fraud league too!? you all are cruel ...)

what is antipoetry to you: i ... don't really think much about poetry? i know what i prefer is usually the more basic rhymed kind like lewis carroll, emily dickinson, poe, coleridge, etc. so i suppose i don't have much use for classifying non-rhyming verse? i can appreciate stuff like rupi kaur which i guess would qualify? or that william carlos williams plums poem? but it doesn't really stick with me the way lyric-like verse does

currently craving: i never know what exactly this is meant to be in reference to ... hmmm, i would love a new high-concept, high production-quality movie like say, pacific rim, to be released, just for that massive, excited energy that comes with something new that hasn't already got tons of disappointing or conflicting history behind it - that would be so fun!!

other than that, right now, i mostly kinda want some fried fish? but that will have to wait until i go to get my second vaccine shot on wednesday since it's on the way there. i'd also like my internal body parts to settle down and fly right but it's been more than a month and they don't seem inclined :(((( maybe once i'm fully vaxxed i'll think about consulting somebody about it

Question Meme: The Run-on Sentence Edition

Hi! I hurt myself again yesterday. No, not in an "self-harm" kind of way but more in the usual (for me) "mountain-climbing incident" sort of way (I hate scree; I was so close to that summit) and got lots of deep bruises and lacerations for my troubles and was in a world of hurt by the time I saw a doctor, and I cracked something that isn't supposed to be cracked and it all hurts enough that I got prescribed narcotics again for a week and I really, really hate narcotics but I really, really like to be able to breathe without feeling like my lungs are being ripped to shreds, so...narcotics it is.

It might make the answers to this latest iteration of Ye Olde Question Meme rather entertaining, though. Maybe. Maybe just incoherent. Well, whatever, @nekosayuri tagged me, so it's her fault, and I'm bored and my sleep schedule's all outta whack and I haven't even turned on my Simming computer in like three days and am posting this from a non-Simming laptop, so I have nothing else to post and....yeah. So, I'm like high as a kite right now. I mean, it's not totally unusual because I live in Colorado and weed's legal here, but narcotics is a totally different and much less coherent high for me. So, like, fair warning.

Zodiac Sign: I don't know why I answer this because astrology is a huge crock of BS, but everyone always wants to know so...Taurus. Barely. (Birthday is April 23.)

Height: Still ~6'0"/~182cm. Yay, not shrinking yet!

Languages Spoken: Fluently? At this point, only English. I used to be pretty fluent in Italian and German, but, you know, the saying "use it or lose it" applies, and since I've not had occasion to use those languages much....Well, there we are. I could speak quite a bit of Russian at one time because I spent a chunk of years there, in the late 80s when it was the Soviet Union and shortly thereafter when things were sorta nuts there. But, again, I have lost much of what I once knew. And there are smatterings of other languages that I can speak mostly-useless bits of. I can ask where the restroom is in many languages because I've traveled a lot. :) I do speak fluent bullshit, though...

Nationality: 'Murican. And since 'Muricans are really, really into their "ancestry" for some bizarre-o reason because ‘Murican apparently isn’t good enough...Like, 95% dirty Welsh peasantry (plus some Irish and Scottish thrown in for flavor) on the paternal side and on the maternal side....Well, one of my great-grandfathers was a first cousin of the English Queen Victoria. So basically, my maternal ancestry is the very confused inbred multinational mutt that is European Aristocracy. God only knows what’s in their genes, though my particular bit of it has lots o’ German.

Favorite Fruit: Okra. It is a fruit. Look it up. Then again, much of what people call "vegetables" is, in fact, fruits, so there's that.

Favorite Scent: I've never really thought about this except when this was a question on a previous iteration of this meme that I did, and I don't remember what answer I came up with then. So I'm just gonna say...Vanilla-scented candles. Not cheap ones that just smell sickly-sweet sort-of-vanilla-y, but these ones that I buy online that smell...well...NOT sickly-sweet and like how vanilla really smells. Alternatively...snickerdoodles when they're baking. Hubby is baking me some snickerdoodles as I speak. Type. Whatever. The house smells really good. Baking bread is good, too. Before the snickerdoodles, hubby was baking the twice-weekly loaf of sourdough.

Favorite Color: Green. And/or orange. I go back and forth about which is really my favorite.

Favorite Animal: Elephants. Or hyenas. Or cats of all shapes/sizes. Or alpacas. Or llamas. Or snakes. Or spiders of all kinds. Or dragonflies. Or...Um, yeah, I'm pretty much a fan of all vertebrates and terrestrial invertebrates and some aquatic/oceanic invertebrates, too, so...take your pick.

Coffee, Tea, or Hot Chocolate? Hot chocolate all the way. I don't drink coffee because A) I think it tastes and smells disgusting, but even if that wasn't the case B) I can't have caffeine. Tea is OK. Hubby's way into herbal tea, grows/collects and dries herbs and makes his own blends and shit, and I'll drink it mostly to make him happy, but I'm not into it. I do like hot chocolate, though it's hard to find premade mixes that don’t have powdered milk in them (because I’m vegan), so I generally have to make it from scratch, so to speak, and when I do I use cashew milk as the base and I usually add either peppermint or vanilla extract for zing.

Favorite Fictional Character: Can't really pick a fave. So, have a list, probably but perhaps not really in preference order. Spock from Star Trek, who's been a fave of mine since I was 3 and was watching the original Trek in its initial run, and I announced I'd marry Spock one day. Rodney McKay from Stargate: Atlantis and Vala Mal Doran from Stargate SG-1. (Basically, if you cut up those two and glue various bits of their characters together -- and not necessarily their good bits -- you have...me. So I relate really well to both of them, so I like 'em.) Also Jack O'Neill from Stargate SG-1, but he's mostly for reasons of estrogen. (Especially if you stick 'im in dress blues. HUBBA!) Garak from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine because Cardassians Are Love. Jayne from Firefly, also for reasons of estrogen. Big, hairy, dark hair, blue eyes, solid but not too muscle-y...Yep, that's how I likes my men. And Zoe from Firefly, 'cuz OMG she's how I likes my women. HUBBA!

Dream Trip: *sigh* Still Antarctica. It's the only continent I've not been to, and I will get there before I croak, but...not yet.

When was your blog created? IIRC, it was, like, the middle of December 2013. So, I'll have had this thing 5 years soon.

Last Movie You’ve Seen: I couldn't sleep one day like a week ago, so I put on Miss Congeniality, which is one of my favorite movies because Michael Caine. When I can't sleep, I'll usually put on a really familiar movie or TV show and it lulls me to sleep, but it didn't work that time. :(

Song You’ve Had on Repeat: Englishman in New York, by Sting. I have no idea why, but it's been on repeat in my head, though I haven't actually played it lately or anything.

Favorite Candy: Not much of a sweets kind of person. I prefer salty-crunchy. I can eat a whole big bag of crisps (Like, the British ones, which are way better than American potato chips, but American ones will do) easily, but I can't even get through a whole candy bar because, ew, too sweet. That said, I do like Flake bars, but I have to go up to Canada to get 'em. Or else buy 'em online but then usually by the time I get them they're kinda smashed. Or melted. Or both. Better to go up to Canada. Where they have real chocolate and not this sickly-sweet Hershey's crap. *shudder*

Favorite Holiday: When in Canada, Canada Day is quite fun. It's like July 4th only not so...well...chest-beatingly, yahoo-y, "patriotic" 'Murican. (I really, really dislike nationalism and "patriotism" in general but especially the obnoxious 'Murican brand of it.) When in the UK, I have a fondness for Guy Fawkes Night. I guess I like fire and fireworks and things that go boom and shit, only without the "YAY AMERICA!" yelling of America's own "things that go boom" holiday. Other than that...Can't really say I'm into 'em much. They're not even "days off from work" since...Well, I've never had a "real job," and I'm pretty much retired from my unreal job these days.

Last Book You’ve Read: *cough* Does a really long and smutty and slashy Stargate: Atlantis fanfic count? I'm sad to say that, though I was a voracious reader of books when I was younger, I'm really not so much these days. Haven't been for the last decade or so, really. Not of actual books, at least. I do subscribe to and read a number of academic journals, some having to do with science and medicine and some having to do with history, but they're not books.

Favorite TV Show: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, mostly because it has Cardassians, who are all uniformly awesome, plus all the gritty political and religious goodness and stuff. Except that its last season kinda sucked and did totally WTF things with my second-favorite Cardassian. Close runner-up would be Stargate: Atlantis. Except that its last kinda season sucked, too, and did totally WTF things with McKay, so hmmm. Stargate SG-1 is good, too, except that half its team annoys the piss outta me...although this is largely made up for by the hotness that is Jack O'Neill so there's that. I like Firefly a lot but it was so short-lived that it's hard to really be a favorite because I can watch the whole thing, including the movie, in less than a day. (And believe me. I have.) I like the other Star Treks, too, especially if I'm in the mood for the "goofy soap opera in space" that is Voyager. TNG's shiny-happy Roddenberryness kinda bores the piss outta me, though it does have a few really good episodes, and the original show...Hmmm...Well, I both love and hate it. I love Spock, as I said, and I also love McCoy and all of its secondary characters. The problem is that I hate Kirk. Like, viscerally hate him. Like, I want to punch his face in every time it's on-screen. If he'd just, y'know, been eaten by a salt vampire and Spock and everyone else was OK and went off and had cool space adventures battling giant space-going amoebas and shit, I'd be totally happy and that's what fanfic's for *cough*, but since Kirk doesn't get eaten by a salt vampire...well...

2. Talk about favorite tv show. Okay since I talked about Stargate Sg-1 before, I’m gonna talk about Supernatural now. I didn’t get into it from the very beginning because of college, which is sad. It’s totally right up my alley. I caught an episode from season 3 or 4 and loved it. So I looked into what the show was about, went hell fucking yeah, and started from the beginning. I got the discs from Netflix, which was slow as hell but so worth it. I love this show. I still love this show, even if I haven’t watched season 13 yet. A show about ghosts, witches, urban legends, gods, and demons and the humans who fight them? Yes, all the yes. It doesn’t hurt that THE ENTIRE CAST is hot as hell either. My bi ass never knows where to look lol. And the question of blood family vs found family and how the show revolves around family period is amazing.

4. Talk about a film I think is underrated. I talked about MirrorMask last time so let’s follow in the vein of Neil Gaiman and go with Stardust. This movie is pure fantasy with snarky humor, characters who fit tropes but aren’t defined by them, and a happy ending you wouldn’t expect (the movie at least. We don’t talk about Yvaine’s ending in the book. It’s sad). Plus Charlie Cox, Claire Danes, Mark Strong, Robert de Niro, and Michelle Pfeiffer. The cast is amazing and the story is ridiculously fun.

12. Talk about a performance I love. Okay, my fav Shakespeare play is A Midsummer Night’s Dream. My sophomore year of high school, we read this play in English. And we went to see it perforned at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater on Navy Pier. This theater is a small, intimate one, seating a couple hundred people. At least back in like 2002 when I went. Idk if they’ve done any changes since. But you felt immersed in the play. Sure, there was a stage but the seating circled it on three sides and went right up to the stage. It wasn’t very high either. What I’m getting at is that there was no fourth wall, okay? And Puck, omg Puck. The actor who played him was brilliant, and cute, and he played Puck queer. It resonated with me even though some of it went over my head. But seeing the romance he and Oberon played out between them was awesome. And this actor played to the audience. Remember how I said no fourth wall? Well he ran with that idea. I know Puck talks to the audience in the play itself because he’s telling the story but this actor took it a step further. He made us part of the play. It was fantastic.

27. What do I think is the best adaptation of a book? Hmmm. My gut answer would be Holes because I see people talking about it all the time but I’ve never actually read Holes. So I would have to say The Hobbit. Yes there was stuff in the movies that never appeared in the book but it kind of filled in holes in the story we never see because it’s told from Bilbo’s perspective. And it manages to include the grand sweeping overall narrative while never losing the heart of the characters or of the story itself

Books I’m reading: OH MAN I am reading some good ones right now. Sagaland by Richard Fidler and Kári Gíslason. It’s about Iceland - part travelogue, part family history, part Icelandic history. It’s fascinating and makes me very badly want to visit Iceland. The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo. I’ve never read her before and this is a collection of short stories - fairytale type stories and myths, some of which tie into her novels which I definitely need to read now. It’s beautifully presented as well, with amazing artwork on each page. And finally Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson. I’ve been hanging out for this one for ages and I am TAKING MY TIME with it.

Yes, i adore reading. It was my favourite activity when I was younger, and that hasn’t really changed much over the years. What has changed is that where I used to read novels, I now prefer to read fanfiction~

Probably never eat pizza. I don’t eat it that often as it stands, so that won’t make too much of a difference. Chocolate on the other hand, is something consider a necessity (especially for those times when hormones have got me down), even if I don’t eat that too often usually either.

I don’t think I’ve ever been in love? I’ve only ever been in a relationship twice and I’ve liked a couple people before, but nothing major to my knowledge (but i could also just be an oblivious idiot about this sort of thing…)

I have my ear pierced (just the one in each ear) and have had those since I was 6~ I don’t have any tattoos currently, but I will be getting one when I have money to spare for it~

Favourite tv show… hmmm… I don’t think I could really pick a favourite, although I guess there are two shows that have the most rewatchability for me no matter how many times I’ve seen them, Criminal Minds, and Stargate: SG-1. I adore them both. I’ve opted to believe that anime isn’t included in “tv shows” for my own sanity.

Favourite drink on a hot day would have to be either coke or orange juice~

Favourite movie is tough because i’m not much of a movie watcher. Probably a toss up between the hobbit, legally blonde, or the princess diaries.

Favourite colour is red, specifically the shades surrounding garnet red~

I started writing for fun in 8th grade, so 2013. I joined a writer’s club in school, and found that what had been a mostly passive enjoyment of English and Writing became something much more fierce. I wrote less between 2015 and 2018 for various reasons (mostly amounting to work and school) and picked it up very seriously again at the beginning of the year (and I’ve never been gladder for it!)

This isn’t a question i expected, but I appreciate it none the less. I actually do get headaches more often then most of the people I know. Throughout 2013 and 2014 I was really bad with them, and they’ve gotten lesser over the years, but they’re still more frequent then I would like. I also have migraine medication because that’s something that comes and goes for me.

Oof, that’s a tough one. I had an attack in the car when I started driving from my parents to the house I rent with my friends and I cried then, which was around a month ago now, but I think I may have also had a break down just before I left to go back to my parents for work recently and cried then, so like a week and a half ago?

Not really, but I’ve come close. I’ve had tears of relief when I’ve finally managed something that I’ve been struggling with.

I do and I don’t drink a lot of water. It depends on what you count as ‘a lot’ and also what I’m doing. I’m actually pretty bad for it most of the time, since I hate the taste of water in general, but when I’m working I go through around 2L? I also can’t have normal tap water, my body is really sensitive to the chemicals in it and it makes me sick, so I drink either bottled water (which doesn’t make me sick, but I hate 9/10 times), or what I have here which is rain water from our tank.

How many pairs of shoes do I own? That’s a tough one as well, seeing as I’m not at home to check. I have 4 pairs of boots, 3 pairs of joggers (or runners, or trainers ,whatever your country prefers), 2 pairs of slippers, my work boots, flats, like 7 pairs of heels, 3 pairs of thongs (flip-flops) and 2 pairs of sandals... I think that’s all?

Freeform Brainstorming fic ideas instead of like Actually doing anything with the plot bunnies under the cut

Crossover debating-

HTTYD- hmmmmm nah that wouldnt mesh too well and theres a huge time gap for both the movie and the book. HTTYD is pretty mundane(in terms of magic)

DnD- HUGE potential, drop them in in the plane and set them on monsters and let them be adopted by dragons. Not much plot though. Maybe a rp campaign. I play 1e and very rarely 3e so not sure what kind of spellcrafting shenanigans and what class to shove them in... They dont even count as human really in DnD so Dragonborn??? and IDK Paladin? For all of them bc the guardian thing? Or wizard? Hmmm

Wings of Fire- Dump them in dragon hell (either with lovely new scaly avatars or as-is) and let them Freak Out about the whole ‘humans are weird fuzzy tiny things and sometimes we keep them as pets or eat them’ thing. Also poor Moon and Taranee can have a ‘severely anxious psychics’ party. Hay Lin can love the Rainwings to death and they can all bond over Chosen One Child Soldier Bullshit it will be awkward and sad and full of dragons.

Dragon Orb- Because dumping them in an extremely gory parallel world where they will probably end up with a telepathically bonded dragon soul mate companion each is a terrible idea. A terrible idea I would capitalize on except there are only 4 dragon breeds.

Pern- This Is A Bad Idea. We All Know About Anne McCaffery’s Telepathic Soul Bond Prototype-A/B/O Dynamic Scalie...... Thing.

....And If You Dont You Sure Do Now. (Anne can like whatever she wants but UH OK) I mean I could just... Not have the whole Thing but I mean why would you dragonrider AU if you didnt give them dragons it defeats the purpose and not having the Weird Shit breaks some stuff about Telepathic Networking The Whole Population Basically With Genetically Modified Lizards With A Color-Coded Hierachy and im not sticking children in that mess so No on the Pern.

Stargate- GOOD. IDEA!!! Someone hops a stargate to Meridian. Kandrakar is Ancients. SG-1 is now Invested in the tiny dragons. I cry a lot.

TLDC- Everything I write is actually a stealth HDM and TLDC crossover. Oops. Importing Fain=Dust/Dark Matter=Living Magic and IX=The Corruption into everything still hasnt snagged on much yet.

Bleach- This Will Be Bad. Either Kandrakar=Kings Realm or Hogyoku=Artificial World Heart. Either way the entire Bleach cast will be having Kittens over the overpowered tiny children and it will be hilariously terrible. I will write this one day. ....Maybe

Nasuverse(Fate series)- The Ultimate In Bad Ideas(tm). First off the only safe and not uncomfortable and horrifying crossover would be Fate/Stay-Night anime version because of The Prana/Mana Thing (unless you wanna count blood drinking as a viable method for recharge which im not sure is canon in Nasuverse but several fics ive read say ok so meh.) and the whole thing in Heavens Feel route. Also you have to Kill the rest of the servants so maybe not good for the kiddies. The whole series is bad for the kiddies. If we go the other way, dumping FSN Archer in W.I.T.C.H. to Do Shit(tm) seems like a good vacation for him and awkward talks about heroism and hardcore pragmatism for everyone else. Or any other character to dump there instead of making the poor dragon kids deal with Nasuverse shenanigans. Thats something hmmm. (Saber being Saber is always a good addition to anything) It avoids the Dark And Fucked Up Nasuverse Problems and keeps all the lovely charas I like. HMMMM.
