initial thoughts on DCAS episode 11
oh my god
i had already guessed that Alec was lying (much like Jake did), but this was a really nice explanatory touch! Alec and Riya's friendship is, as usual, one of the season highlights for me.
would've been a lot more interesting if the campers could have chosen their own partners in one way or another, imo, but that would definitely eat up a lot of time in an already packed episode. plus, some pairings (like Connor and Riya) probably couldn't have happened this way, given how Riya wound up reacting to Connor.
"alright Fiore, here's how we prevent you from going home this week," one could say.
i was SO worried that Alec was going to have another confessional at some point being like "lol i was testing my acting skills on Fiore too" but he DIDN'T. which means this is CANON. THE ADOPTION IS BACK ON!!!!!!!!
okay, i actually love the decision to pair Hunter and Grett together here. both of them are the "very flawed but kinda mistreated partner of their appearances-obsessed date," so it makes sense that Hunter could give Grett a good perspective on this. also, is it just me, or did they rework Hunter's personality in this episode to be more like S2? i liked it.
i'm going to put every Fiore and Alec moment in this post and you can't stop me. i am initially thinking about them.

as much as i enjoy Alec appreciating his daughter's sass, this does seem like a pretty radical heel turn from "i only voted Connor out of this game because it was what was best for him." i guess maybe spending time with Riya and the other villains has caused Alec to fall further off the deep end/forget about Connor's genuinely nice qualities...? or it's inconsistency between different writers, who knows.
i am 0% a jul(?) shipper, but, damn, the jul shippers were eating well this episode.
Yul is such an interesting little guy.

i do wonder what evil Gabby is doing here. i guess maybe it'll just be the side of Gabby that wants to run with the villains alliance for power vs the side that wants to follow Ellie's advice? that seems kind of weird. maybe it'll be more like the side that wants to go mad with power on the revenge quest vs Gabby's more rational and strategic side? either way, strange cliffhanger.
can't we just have everyone here... always... all the time...? no? okay :( well, it was still really nice to get the whole gang back together for this episode. i'll look forward to seeing them again in the finale.
and, hey, Connor's back in the game now! and he can't be eliminated next episode, at least. are there going to be three players with immunity...? that could get spicy. we'll see how the heroes and villains smack down when the next real elimination rolls around. back up to ten to nine again... see you next time!

scenarios AND dialogue for this one bc its just so good
Your character's friend/partner lovingly made them a big dinner for some special occasion. Unable to quit both due to the quality of the food and the feeling of obligation to appreciate the other's cooking, they wind up eating far more than they should. When the other person realizes how stuffed your character is and why, they're both amused and concerned, and they hurry your character off to a more comfortable spot for a soothing tummy rub.
Your character isn't a big eater. They're known for their tiny appetite, and their colleagues affectionately tease them for it. One day, though, for whatever reason, they completely clean their plate. The people they're eating with are astonished that your character managed to eat so much, and they playfully tease and praise them for it, doting on their bulging tummy all the while.
Your character's friend/partner loves cooking, and has requested that your character spend the day taste testing for them as they prepare for a party. It's not long before your character starts feeling full, and the other person reminds them periodically that they don't have to keep going if they don't have any space left, but your character is eager to help, and they keep on taste testing until the day's work is done. They're absolutely stuffed silly by that time, and the other person makes them a soothing cup of tea and gives them plenty of belly rubs for their hard work.
Your character is at a fair with their friend/partner, and they get some huge ridiculous snack that they spend a good while carrying around as they try to eat it. Against all odds, your character manages to finish their snack, but they're too stuffed to go any further. The other person urges them to sit down on a nearby bench and stays with them until their belly has settled enough to get up again.
Your character and their friend/partner are out on an adventure, but after they stop for something to eat, your character is so full they can barely move, let alone keep up and go on walking around. They feel bad about ruining the outing, but the other person assures them that it's fine and takes them back home so they can recover, staying with them to care for their sore tummy.
Dialogue:
"Oh, gosh, I can't believe you ate all that! Are you feeling alright?"
"You are such a sweetheart. You really like my cooking that much?"
"Oof, you really look stuffed. You take a seat, I'm gonna make you some tea."
"Aw, you didn't have to finish the whole thing! I'm glad you liked it, though!"
"Why don't you lay down for a while? Your belly's gonna need some time to settle after all that."
"Oh, jeez, your poor tummy! Come here, let me see."
"Are you alright? That was a lot for you."
"Boy, you look beached. Here, come lay with me, I'll rub your belly."
"Why don't we go back? You don't look like you're up for this right now."
"Sit down and digest a minute, we're not in a rush."

Any lovely witchy friends out there have advice for reaching out to a deity?
#personal#been a practising witch for a long time but never really thought about having a patron#but more and more recently i feel a pull towards some specific beings. ive been making some small offerings in the form of crafts#related to their imagery and totem style representations but i havent actually attempted to contact them#or open any direct channels of communication. and as ive never had a patron deity before im not sure how to start that process#how to transition from a solo practice to a more collaborative participation#so any advice is much appreciated! feel free to dm if your suggestions might be more personal or longer than a reply#i only know a few other witches in real life and i dont think any of them deal with deities either so id love to make some friends#who also practice too i think its really good to learn this stuff from real people and not only internet stuff#bc internet stuff especially in regards to witchery can be bs at best and straight up racist and culturally appropriating at worse#and genuinely dangerous at worst for inexperienced practicers so i do prefer knowledge from other real humanoids when possible#witchcraft#witchblr

idc what people are whining abt, i actually really enjoyed the netflix avatar series. the costume and set design was really beautiful, the effects were great, the performances were great. i think people are weirded out about the pacing and i understand that, but at the same time, they're working on netflix's budget and i think they did a great job utilizing the important material in book 1 to tell as well rounded of a story as they possibly could. and like sure, i get that it was jarring to see them start at the VERY beginning instead of starting w katara and sokka finding aang like the original show does for ex, but like. idk! i think they shouldn't feel obligated to hit every plot point beat for beat and i don't think we lost anything by establishing aang's background early on. actually, every single scene with master gyatso made me fucking bawl lol. aang's loss is soooo much more palpable in this show than the original one imo bc it lingers on that pain a lot more. there were a few story choices that kinda made me scratch my head a bit, like the fact that teo wasn't introduced as part of the new Northern Air Temple population and what effects that had on aang, but i'm really not mad about it. anyways i give it two big thumbs up and i hope it gets renewed for another season

i think. everyone should stop reading my most popular fics that aren't really that good and start reading the ones with 18 kudos that are significantly better
#this is about (just wanna be) somebody i'm proud of#yes i had fun writing it. but it's REALLY NOT THAT GOOD#also i cannot stress this enough: that fic was a fluke#it's NOT a good example of what i write. guys i'm so much better at the angsty character study fics#i promise i actually can get proper characterization. i had to sacrifice some of that for the light-hearted stupid cheesy premise#alas#no one in fandom actually cares about characterization#ngl sometimes i even wonder what the point of writing stuff in-character is if the flat#'characters reduced to a single trait that they may or may not even possess'#fics will ALWAYS end up being more popular than the ones with good characterization#anyway i know why the 18 kudos one is so low. it's the mcd tag. AND it's a gen fic centered around a character no one cares about#i wasn't expecting that one to do well#but it does suck that like. my most popular fics will never actually be my best ones#it's the same with bsd but THAT'S a whole other story#that's the phenomenon of everyone reducing bsd to the skk show and not giving the time of day to fics centered around anyone else#do u guys realize there are SO many other INCREDIBLE characters and dynamics????#like i was doing that bsd fic rec event on twt and almost all of the fics recced were skk#meanwhile i was searching for anything NOT skk bc idk other ships and characters deserve appreciation too??#and i don't even read much skk bc it's so hard to find anything that's. like. Spoilers for Alan Wake/Control games and DLCs: one of the things I really like in Alan Wake 2 is the confirmation that, no, Alan can’t create something out of nothing. There were implications in-story that supported that, but it was good to have that be a big part in the sequel. The AWE control dlc easily made it seem like Alan himself had a role in the events of the game and the formation of the FBC, and, personally, seeing it through that lens cheapened a lot of the game and Jesse’s story. Instead, having his writing influence the Hiss and try to manipulate (even out of desperation) Jesse/the FBC to end Hartman and get help, fit right into plot and conflicts of Alan Wake 2, with Alan being sympathetic, but also an asshole for trying to change and control people’s lives in his writing.
#since the awe dlc dropped I was slightly worried that it was going the meta route of Alan writing everything in control#but since Alan wake 2 I’ve been. thank god that wasn’t the case 😭#this way makes everything more complicated and mysterious. which I appreciate. makes everything creepier#will say. it’s still wild how much Alan can influence the narrative.#light spoilers for the final draft but—> makes me think of the writers room video where he doesn’t know what he’ll be at the spirals end#like I don’t think he’ll be Evil or anything. but it’s unnerving#might delete#Alan Wake 2 my beloved#so many times in that game it could’ve gone a direction that would’ve lessened or soured the story but somehow it didn’t lmao#more game spoilers but for ex: Alice coming back at the end instead of leaving it with her demise in the documentary#when I first saw that it was devastating. but also wasn’t sure what to feel if that’s how she’s gone from the story#having her actually manipulate her photos. become art to make Alan think she died. go to the dark place and help him and saga#that last video left me Speechless it was so good.#esp after how much I disliked Control (spoilers here) for quickly ending with Dylan in a coma and not much else.#could not be happier with how the AW2 ending played out and the clear love for all its characters#REALLY hope that Control 2 ends in a good or interesting place. give dylan some focus!#not tagging this bc I’m just yelling my thoughts. but knowing tumblr it will somehow be seen on every tag 😵💫

watching a lot of cooking videos lately (great for background noise while working) and just saw one where a cat hops on the KITCHEN COUNTER while the lady is cooking 🤢 that is disgusting do ppl rly let their animals up there!! that kitty has stepped in its litter box maam!!! or it could shed on that counter!!! and you're prepping food up there rn!! ew!!!

i'm so sorry, i've been so inactive lately...! this time, the reason is not personal struggle/distress. i have been incredibly incredibly busy with studies, work, and life changes, but they are good changes! i am really doing better now, and i am so so thankful to the Lord; i am so happy that i finally feel myself growing closer to Him, and my love for Him grows every day
i wanted to really sincerely thank everyone who prayed for me or sent me nice messages after that vent i posted a while back, it means so very much to me. the ppl on here are so kind and lovely! <3 (also, i am not ignoring my asks- i'll respond as soon as i have the time to give thoughtful input!)
this blog is not abandoned and i will return to regularly scheduled Christposting sooner or later!

the fact I've seen a couple people say the reason for the lack of mourning for Kit in ChoT was because cc "didn't want to write sad scenes"... if she didn't want to write sad scenes she shouldn't have killed off a main character????? like why kill off someone and then not follow through with some sort of narrative weight (which is probably going to be sad. because someone died.)
like writing 101 is to not kill off characters unless it serves some sort of purpose, whether plot wise or character wise. even if that purpose is to show how dangerous the situation is for everyone else. but for that to be effective it can't just... exist in a vacuum. there should be notable changes in other characters behaviour bc of the loss, or how the plot unfolds afterwards. death is kinda a big deal & the writing should reflect that! there should be a gaping hole in the group you can feel, a definitive change story that wouldn't exist if the death hadn't happened, especially for a main character.
and the way Kit's death is written... doesn't reflect any of this. like he hadn't died the book would have ended exactly the same. and honestly the whole thing is kinda a slap in the face for readers just because we have read three books with Kit & fallen in love with him as a character. we deserve mourn him! we deserve to have moment where we get to cry alongside the characters for more than a couple sentences! and the fact we don't makes the whole thing feel unfinished & that the ending is undeserved. like for me at least, reading the epilogue was a "that's it?" moment, it all felt too good to be true (and a bit fan-servicey). like I was just expecting this moment that never came & it left me feel unbalanced. at the very least someone could have spared an "ave atque vale" like come on now.

#doing a dcshg v1/v2 comparison#v2 is def stronger in almost every way#i’ll give v1 some credit it does have some good designs#karen and hal here for example#karen’s side braids are striped like a bumblebee?? i mean cmon that’s just character design genius#and you KNOW i gotta appreciate a pilot jacket hal (not pictured)#but the storylines and pacing and animation and voice acting are a lot better in v2#the girls are kinda uninspired in v1 but the boys feel more in-character (less boys vs girls the way v2 is)#v2’s girls have a lot of variety and distinct roles but the boys as we know are. well they’re a hit or miss#ivy is sooo much better in v2 she might be its best character besides barry#carol is unfortunately not great in both versions and ik that’s the comics’ fault#but it still feels dismissive. like you can make a hopeless romantic character without misogyny#anyway personal biases (and also weird moral lessons) aside i’ve been enjoying both!#obviously the show is called dc superhero GIRLS so i have to give my vote to v2#but also bc barry is kinda just perfect in v2 like the update was clearly made by someone that loved him specifically#but also hates hal specifically it’s weird#like how are you gonna be a flash fan and not know that flashes have a history of friendship with green lanterns#v1 makes him a slapstick character too but it’s actually funny. so there IS a difference#but i’m starting to like v2 hal anyway :( i can’t fault him for the show’s misgivings :(#danbles#dcshg#karen beecher#hal jordan#green lantern#dc#i’ve now seen 1 season of v1 and a random mish mash of episodes of v2. sighh i’ll go back and watch them in order to compare 😔#no one is asking for this i just love comparing and contrasting things#oh and btw v1 cheetah is exactly like toralei monster high. i wonder if they knew what they were doing#btw x2 barry and hal share the same VA in v1. just putting that out there

While for comic relief reasons, he's often shown as 'uncultured' or somewhat naive (in this episode, not realizing the shopkeeper was asking for a bribe, and seemingly not knowing what a bribe is), that doesn't stop him from being smart in his own way. His trick with the watches was very neat and was working really well. He was Invested

i had a fun day 2 day ૮˶• ﻌ •˶ა everyone has been so nicey 2 me all day from the minute i left my house earlier ૮ ᴖﻌᴖა ♡
i went to a Retreat for the first time for work earlier 0: and I did SO good for being up since 2am it didn't even feel like it 💀
it was so chill i drove like an hour away but Away from the city so there wasn't rly traffic and the mountains r so pretty 2 drive thru (❁´◡`❁) got some rain n v low clouds and since it's autumn there's all these pretty colors. i took an edible on the way n was just jammin out n enjoying the scenery among the many safe opportunities 2 look
and then at the thing we got 2 do different ice breakers n go on decently long breaks; i got 2 hang in different groups n actually Talk w a bunch of ppl which i never have time for omg. it's nice working at a legal nonprofit, i would NOT want to do this with corporate mfs !! 😹
went around n said hii to the enbies and i ran up a hill that looked a lot smaller than it was, i made it like 80% of the way before my legs were immediately like no girl we're done !! but my brain was like but it's Right There, and i struggled 2 finish the climb but I Did !! ૮ ᴖﻌᴖა and i was so so tired i do not remember ever being that winded before 💀 getting down was so much slower n worse bc my legs were Done and when i finally made it to the bottom i laid flat on my back for like 15m, and when when i made it back to sit n chill i still need like 10 more minutes akskska. i do not b exercising !! i just wanted 2 play it looked fun and i got excited (｡ﾉω＼｡)
in between things i was working on my sister's choker n kept winding up w a group of ppl around me 2 talk to about it and just talk 2 in general n the company was rly nice (❁´◡`❁) ♡ had a lot of different kinda talks 2day!! everyone is a sweetie!! some ppl r so funny n chill and i rly hope 2 get 2 talk more casually w people perhaps As Friends when i go in 👉👈
there's one girl in particular who is rly cute n sweet and i want 2 see her again ૮˶• ﻌ •˶ა when I got home finally i had 2 hop on my work laptop real quick 2 look up her name again 2 make sure i didn't forget ☝️😌 we do not work at the same office but hii i am visiting next week 🐇

You know I didn't expect to actually befriend people in fashion school, cuz I just applied for a short course, so I bet most people are just minding their own business, not to mention I'm sure people have already formed their friend groups and are less likely to accept new people, which is a sad reality I have to accept.
And outside of my little friend group, I'm actually pretty shy and a bit of a loner. I'm also quiet but am bubbly/friendly once you talk to me.
So imagine my surprise when I randomly got invited for lunch by a stylish friend group, like a main character moment and got deep into a conversation with someone who is not only a fellow weeb, but also someone who shares my unpopular. fandom. opinions??!!!!?

I wish GI wasn't trying to push people (kinda specifically longer players) away from the game, like damn. I really hope new players are watching closely and not just deciding "there are haters" or "complainers." Some of the things, like the age old where's the end-of-game road map, have been actual game needs that haven't been addressed for years. Game needs, guys. Idk, if you still call some people haters/complainers, then I'm probably gonna call you a bootlicker lol
