WIBTA for inviting my uncle & cousins to my wedding, but not my aunt?
My partner M (31NB, ey/em) & I (31NB, any pronouns) very recently got engaged, & are just starting to work on a guest list for our wedding (planned for next fall). Of note: we are nonbinary lesbians & it will be a very loudly gay event, this is non negotiable, I can’t wait to make this butch my wife & I’m going to make it everyone’s problem 🥰
We both want to invite (most of) both our families, and I would like to include my uncle C (60ish M) & his two kids, my cousins, K (21F) & T (16F). C was one of my favorite relatives growing up; we’re not as close anymore, but I would still like him & the girls to be there, I love all three of them to bits. The problem is C’s wife & the girls’ mom, E (60ish F).
E wasn’t like this when she & C got married, but around the time K was born, E fell into a very conservative rabbit hole, both politically & religiously speaking. For the past couple decades she has been very loudly homophobic, transphobic, prolife, antivax, name a right-wing conspiracy & she probably believes in it. For obvious reasons, My Fiancée & I Do Not Want Her At Our Big Gay Wedding. (I don’t think she would show up even if she was invited, but I’m not certain enough of that to risk it.)
M & I will talk about it more & come to a decision anyway, but we wanted some outside opinions too, just for funsies - would it be an asshole move to invite C, K, & T but explicitly not invite E (& risk the family drama), or would it be safer to just not invite any of them? I have absolutely no problem burning bridges with E, but it would be a shame to burn bridges with the rest of the family if it’s not strictly necessary.
What are these acronyms?

alright so I said the other night that I came up with a huge bullet point list detailing a qsmp au that I have no intentions of writing, and several of my lovely anons told me they were down to hear about it so here we go
the inspo for this was kind of like a fusion of breaking dawn (yes from twilight) and the underworld movie series. it's a modern setting where the federation is essentially the vampire government. they watch over all known vampire covens to make sure they aren't taking risks that could possibly expose the existence of vampires to the human population. vampire hunting groups that exist, but for the most part they're small and scattered around the world and don't communicate with one another.
something ends up changing though. covens are attacked by strange green creatures that the vampires believe are created by the hunters, but they're not entirely sure where they come from (these are the binary entities). the creatures are incredibly strong and many covens that are attack lose members.
several of the covens attacked have connections with each other. they slowly form a network finding others around the world that were attacked by these strange creatures, and realize they all have one thing in common: only covens with vampire children were attacked.
the federation backs off saying they don't know anything about the creatures, sounds like the vampire hunters are up to something but they stay out of that stuff. it's very strange, so the attacked groups come together to investigate what the hell is attacking their children, and if the federation had anything to do with it. eventually, they declare themselves one giant coven, and the federation doesn't like that.
info about the groups under the cut!
before joining up into one group, the individual covens originally consisted of:
Phil (ancient), Chayanne (roughly 10-11 years old*, turned when he was 5), Wilbur (very new vampire, literally got turned a few months ago by Quackity), Missa (ancient vampire who got stuck at the bottom of a well for three centuries so he's still catching up with stuff)
Jaiden (new vampire, turned 2-3 years earlier by Roier), Roier (turned 5 years prior by Vegetta), Bobby (around 9-10 years old*, turned within the last year by Roier)
Foolish (at least 300 years old, probably older, he changes his age every time someone asks), Vegetta (200 years old), Leo (turned when she was 7ish, is now 9*)
Fit (roughly 150-200 years old), Ramón (8-9ish*, turned when he was 4 not by Fit)
Bad (between 600 and 800 years old), Dapper (11*, got turned when he was 9 by Bad)
The Brazilians: Cellbit (around 200 years old), Felps (50-60ish, turned by Cellbit), Pac and Mike (no one knows how old they are exactly but they're a bit younger than Cellbit. Also no one is sure which one is older but they know one of them turned the other), Forever (werewolf, not a vampire. Doesn't age because he's pack bonded with vampires and is around 90 years old), Richarlyson (8 years old*, turned when he was 4 by Cellbit)
The French: Baghera (130ish, turned by Etoiles), Etoiles (600-700 years old), Aypierre (300ish?), Antoine (100ish, also turned by Etoiles), Pomme (7 years old*, turned within the last few months by Baghera)
Solo vampires not in a coven who get involved anyway:
Quackity (60ish), Max (70s)
Humans
Charlie (24), Mariana (24)
Now if you're wondering where some other eggs are, they have their place either later on in the story or as backstory. These are just what I imagine the groups to be at the start of everything
*Vampire children do age in this world. When a child is turned they continue to age until they reach a point of physical maturity and will stop. This age is different for every individual, but ranges from late teens to early 20s. No one is sure what affects when a vampire child will stop aging, but some theorize a diet of solely animal blood can cause them to stop aging earlier due to a lack of proper nutrients
I have so many notes about this au including backstories for most of the characters and how they all got their children but I don't want to make this insanely long so please send me asks about the groups!! If not I might just make a post talking about the characters in more specific detail but yeah this au is very fun for me to rotate in the brain microwave lol

Attack on Prime: Autobot Anthology 'Titans and energon'
Main Story
Ice Skating
Comfort
Matrix of Leadership
This is just Hanji catching Arcee and Wheeljack on the power of the titans. This conversation happens a lot earlier when the two arrive. At least before the Survey Corps go to Hizuru, so around chapter 60ish.
"Okay, the original layout of attacking pure titans used to just be striking the nape of the neck," Hanji explained, drawing a diagram of a titan getting its nape cut on chalkboard they wheeled out in front of Wheeljack and Arcee, "And energon used to be effective in taking out a pure titan and even a titan shifter without touching the nape of the neck."
"What do you mean by used to?" Arcee asked while Wheeljack was taking notes using the data pad.
"Optimus used his blaster against the Female Titan: Annie Leonhart during the battle of Stohess." Hanji crossed their arms, "What we didn't know at the time was that using energon to attack the titan form of a titan shifter would do actual damage to the titan shifter's real body. After that, the former king of the walls had kidnapped Annie, experimenting on her body and finding a way to create an energon serum. Annie escaped our custody, but had energon infused into her body. Now Marley has it, and is using it to enhance their army to counteract Optimus and Megatron."
"So his armor got cut off-!"
"By a human yes." Hanji nodded.
Wheeljack couldn't help but snicker at that before he started cackling. "I love this place!"
"So what's the new power scale now?" Arcee asked.
"Power scale. I like it," Hanji smiled as they turned back to the chalkboard and erased the initial diagram. They started writing another diagram on the chalkboard, the dust of the chalk hitting the grass, "The energon serum enhanced both titan shifters and pure titans. But there are certain methods that can and cannot be effective."
Hanji finished writing the power scale list before pointing to the bottom of the chalkboard. "If the titan or titan shifter has no energon in their system, normal weapons can be used to cut the nape of the neck. And energon can be used to kill the titan entirely."
Hanji pointed above that. "If a pure titan has energon, it has faster regeneration time and manic movements. Normal weapons are useless. Energon allows for instant regeneration. If you can use a normal weapon to cut through the nape of the neck, it might work, but the manic movements of the titan would make it extremely difficult to land a critical hit. At least for humans."
Hanji pointed to the last item. "However, energon can provide the advantage. Energon may not cause decay to titans with energon, but it can help slow down regeneration to the original regeneration speed before energon was introduced."
Hanji set the chalk down. "I wish I could give you more information on the effects of energon on titan shifters, but we only have Eren and Ymir to go off of. Even so, based on reports, each titan shifter is affected differently. But energon in titan shifters does allow for damage to Cybertronian metal if utilized properly."
Hanji walked over to the table full of equipment and picked up an energon spear. "That's why I brought you two here. Energon is not doubt going to continue to stay, and I've been trying to create new energon based weapons to prepare. This is what I have been working on: an energon spear. The weapon itself is extremely powerful; however, there still needs to be a lot of testing. Not to mention the weapon is by default short range. The weapon needs to be launched at a certain range before the hook at the end unclips, releasing the explosive."
Hanji set the spear over their shoulder. "However, due to the manic pure titans, I was hoping to incorporate energon into the 3D gear instead of the iceburst stone. Energon is much more powerful and I think it would be more useful."
Wheeljack handed Arcee the datapad before walking towards the table and leaning down. He placed his servo under his chin to examine the 3D gear.
"Seems doable," Wheeljack proclaimed as he straightened himself out, "We can definitely start some experiments right now."
"So soon?" Arcee couldn't help but ask.
"If the pure titans are super fast and they use the current model they have now, there won't be a Survey Corps," Wheeljack retorted before turning to Hanji, "You have your notes?!"
"Yes!" Hanji shrieked with delight, scrambling to get their notebook from the table. "Let's get started!"
"I'll take that." Arcee was surprised when Wheeljack took the datapad from her.
"I'm...going to leave and avoid the chaos," Arcee decided before walking away, "Don't kill the commander!"
"I'll be fine!" Hanji waved off.
(Next part is going to be Hanji and Wheeljack doing experiments)

Hobbies and interests are weird sometimes.
Tumblr media
Like sometimes you see something and you just know that’s what you want to do, and there is no looking back from that point. I remember seeing Magic the Gathering for the first time, and it was like 4th grade, I knew. And lo and behold, I'm 35, still playing magic. But like sometimes it just kinda happens by accident, like you don't mean to get into the thing at all.
I think it was mid 2021 and I just stumbled on the Blackwargreymon gunpla kit online. Digimon was a big deal for me as a kid, I was pretty young when it started, like 10?, and I have always had a soft spot for it. So this thing looked really cool, I didn’t really have anything on my shelf for digimon even though it was a big deal for me as a kid, and it wasn't that horrendously expensive, even marked up on amazon. I don’t think I had ever done a plastic model kit before, so I started poking around to see what it would need, and I found a pretty decent entry level set of tools, clippers, some tweezers, some sanding tools and so on. So I went, what the hell, I did something nice for the kid in me. I think it’s important to do a lot of nice things for the kid in you, just good life advice. So I took the plunge. The closest thing to compare to I guess was lego, it’s kinda the same process, you just gotta cut out your pieces and clean them up, but after that you just put it together. Lego was another thing I really liked as a kid.
Tumblr media
This kit was so much fun, I went into it with the just expectation that it will look good, and it does, very good. Ok I have to stress this, I don’t think there is anything on the market that looks even a fraction as good as these kits do, and at such a better price, it’s ridiculous. But the Kit was so much fun to put together, it's just meditative, and very personal. You slowly work your way through it, learning how the plastic feels and reacts to the cuts, shaves and sanding you do, and you make mistakes, but you work through it and learn. It’s imperfect in a very personal way. And then I finished it. And sometimes you just finish something and then you are like, ‘this can’t be the only time I do this’. I knew I was kinda hooked on it.
Thankfully there was a bit of backlog on the kits available. I think at the time the upcoming one was Machindramon, and I ended up picking the other kits in the meantime, Omegamon/Omnimon & MetalGarurumon. And so over that year of the pandemic it was a treat for myself, as I slowly built up this shelf of great looking digimon figures that I put together myself. When I got the Gallantmon/Dukemon kit, I took an extra chance on it, and decided to re-paint it with my minis paint, giving it a more classic color scheme. It’s probably the most time I spent on one model, and I haven’t tried painting one again since them, but I’m still immensely proud of it, there was a lot of little mistake I made, and a spoke on his shoulder broke that I had to drill a metal rod to reinforce as well as putting some extra epoxy putty in, but it was more lessons learned. As a prep I spent a bunch of time looking up videos of people painting gunpla, and as a side note, some folks do amazing jobs with that, like absolutely fantastic.
Tumblr media
I wanted more though, and I was waiting for new digimon kits to come out but you are waiting. I think it was around the time the pandemic restrictions were loosening, and I was starting to maybe just explore places a bit again. I went into a Game Stop for the first time in a while, and was surprised to see a gunpla kit there. It was the master grade Barbatos kit, and it was a very reasonable price, like I want to say 60ish CAD. I was paying more for the digimon kits cause I was mostly getting that stuff through amazon and often it was imported from japan and extra shipping fees etc. So I went what the hell? I never really was that interested in Gundam before, I had a friend who made me watch an Iron Blooded Orphans OVA, and I honestly could not tell you anything about it, I was so checked out. But it looked cool, so I took another chance. I figured it wouldn’t look bad on a shelf.
That kit is a killer kit. I remember being so impressed with it, when you are building it you start with a skeleton and then you put the armor on top of that. It was so novel, and so cool. It’s a master grade, which is kinda the 2nd highest tier of kits available.
I guess as a little aside, the entry level is High Grade, HG, this is 1:144 scale, and is a great entry level, kits can be very cheap, as low as 15ish up to 30ish (CAD prices, your can figure out your conversion, USD is going to be less). Next up you have Master Grade, MG, these kits are 1:100 scale, sometimes they are different names but 1:100 is size. These guys are pricier, but a big jump in quality, not to say the HG are bad, HG are pretty impressive, but the jump is very noticeable. MGs are very nice, and the prices I noticed are usually 60 to 90. The next typical grade up is Perfect Grade, these are 1:60 scale, and very big, and very complex. I have only done one so far, the Exia. It was 280ish I think. For these kits I think the floor is around 200ish, and can go up quite a bit from there, I think some push 500+.
Back from that tangent, this kit felt like the perfect entry for a more experienced kit. I had already done quite a few digimon kits, and it's the same stuff, just different franchise. Like literally the same, Bandia makes both of these kits. So this was easy to get into. And it really was cool, to say it again. I was like damn, this is neat. So I let that stew, and for a while that was the only gundam I had and I was pretty content for that to be the case.
Then a new boon arrived, I found a local gunpla store. I had actually been there a few times before, but before It was more focused on anime, but I guess in my absence over many years it shifted, and grew its gunpla selection a lot, the wall of bluray and dvds became a wall of boxes of gunpla. And They had digimon kits too. And the prices were very good. I made the switch, as it became a lot more accessible, just even the ability to browse and not do shipping, chief’s kiss. So I picked a few kits I didn’t have, and continued to get new ones there. But I started to see the rest of the gunpla, and I knew the Barbatos was cool, and they had such a big selection, even a lot of older stuff.
So I started picking up a few. It was kinda neat, just jumping into this franchise that I really only knew on a visual level. Like I know it’s been around for a long time, and there are a lot of series, like OG, Wing, Seed, ect. But after that, I know nothing about the Gundam, they fight in big robots, that’s it. So I was in the odd position where I was free to just pick them up blindly if that makes sense, I wasn’t beholden to any lore or preference outside of ‘it looks cool’ and wow I kinda realized I don't have something like that. Like how often do you enter a fandom in a backwards kind of way. Like typically you get into something because you are a fan of it, you like the story, setting, characters and then that kinda informs how you follow up everything after. Like you get the figure of the character you like. I’m sure I’m not the only person who just gets (outside of WFM lol) the kits as kits with no real attachment to the source, and I imagine it's not even that small of a portion. Like people don’t need lore to do train kits or w/e. Anyways it was just a neat perspective, and like I said, freeing. I was allowed to pick stuff from w/e series, and mix and match cause I didn’t care.
So yah, i just went on picking up more kits, the prices of HG were such a great thing too. Like on average 20 bucks a pop for a kit, easy sell for me. So I started having a gunpla shelf, and that was cool.
Tumblr media
I guess the next phase kinda happened. I had heard of Witch from Mercury (WFM), way back when it first announced, and the only take away at that time I had was it was going to feature a female lead, I remember going, I guess that’s cool, but you guys have been doing this for how long, and this is your first? I had another thought but I will come back to that later. So I just kinda filed that away as whatever, I wasn’t really that interested in it as a show, Gundam as a series just didn’t really feel my thing, I am still quite ignorant outside of WFM, but I guess I have more of a sense of it now. Anyways it comes to the point years later, and WFM starts airing, I think I even had a CR sub cause I wanted to watch spy family. I slept on the first 2 episodes. I had just met with a friend again that moved back, and he mentioned it’s queer, that Suletta gets herself engaged to in the first episode.
Tumblr media
What. This was not what I expected. The point I mentioned before? So I'm a sucker for W/W ships, always have been. I very much had a thought when I first heard WFM years before, ‘it's not going to be sapphic though, it’s going to be some hetero stuff’, and it was a pessimistic take at the time, but I just felt burned out from everything being like that. Everything is fucking straight all the time. Like I just want more queer stuff, I hope everything ends up being queer, but realistically it’s not. And it’s Gundam, this is a big franchise, It’s not going to push further than female protag, so I just stopped my expectations there. But is it? And well fuck, I have to give it chance now. And it was, like not even in the subtext kind of way. Suletta was Miorine’s groom. The show had Utena in its DNA. I was very cautious though, feeling like this isn’t going to happen. I felt like I was going to get the rug pulled out, there certainly were a lot of guys vying for either of the two girls at the beginning. But I stuck with the show, a bit of pessimism and caution, but wanting it to happen.
And the little things started happening. After the third episode I think there is a shot of Miorine’s room, and it's a mess. I told myself, then, in a very gut feel way, If Suletta cleans her room, it’s real. I carried that thought going forward. Unpacking it later, I realized how true to the characters it was, Miorine didn’t want to be there, her room was a prison to her and she didn’t let anyone into her life. And then she asks Suletta to clean her room in ep11, and god that episode. I threw out caution, I was ready to sink on this ship if it would after that. And shit, 12 was a hell of an episode to finish on, and then the wait for the second cour. Ooof. Like it was real now, very real, feelings were vocalized and it wasn't just reading into characters. It was firmly the TEXT, no room negotiation. This show was very intentional about everything, I could start to see how everything was now feeding into the rest of itself. God this show.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The wait for the second cour took a while. I was talking about gunpla before, wow. Sure, let's get back there for a bit. I was pretty moderate with picking up kits, I got just Aerial, and Suletta and Miorine. I honestly felt a little embarrassed at the time, like it was an admission that, yah, I’m getting the feels hard now. But that was it, I got some more unconnected gunpla but I was mostly just stewing on my feelings till the second cour hit.
And wow, did those feelings come in hard once the show came back. Not to sound old here, i’m only 35, but it’s easy to forget what watching a show weekly is like with how much bingin it like with the netlix model of shows was the norm for so long. But letting a show really sit with you, to digest it, let it stew and think about before moving to the next episode. For some shows that can be magic, or at least that’s been my experience. I don’t think this would have been a good show to binge, and if anyone is going to watch it, I don’t recommend just burning through it really quickly. This is a show that really lets you take it apart and analyze the moments. It felt like everything could be read into for more meaning. Tomatoes, The move forward, gain one, the growth of characters, how Suletta and Miorine treat each other. It’s a gold mine for essay lol.
Or this whole ending credits to Red:birthmark. This is is basically the whole character arc of Suletta.
Tumblr media
I guess that sorta leads to onwards. I had dipped out of tumblr way back when things went south and everyone dipped. Like myself maybe not right away, but like it felt like 90% of folks were gone and I was soon too. I would sometimes check back in, but never stayed. Then things started to just get real bad with twitter. Like i never liked it as a social site, or reddit. It just feels bad. I had only really started to use it and reddit cause tumblr died, and they did not serve the same way. Like there are few decent subreddits. But they never really did what I wanted. So I started to maybe check in here again, more frequently. Then I remember the day it really stuck.
Tumblr media
Bees happened, Yang and Blake kissed. I was not super invested in RBWY, I bounced pretty quickly way back. I like the fandom though, it has always been strong and I'm sure people will have different feelings, but w/e. I always found them charming, and I think it was what made me try watching the show way back in the first place. So anyways Bees happened, that was a big surprise, and it kinda hit hard. Like it was beautifully awkward in a real way, it felt genuine. And I saw it here on tumblr. And good fucking win for the fandom, I tried watching some of the more recent episodes, and I am not going back to watch old stuff but boy does Ruby have some trauma to unpack. Whoof, even missing context that hit hard. The fanfiction is great. Dug around in there and there are some really good ones. Bless the fandom. I started with Bees stuff since obv, but I also dug around into Ice Rose too. Maybe it’s too much to hope, but that show will be cooking if it also does that.
Anyways I guess I was back on tumblr. There were a bunch of oldies still here, and I could dive into the tags. And It really made me realize how much twitter was kinda just making me miserable. Like there is just so much more positive here, and over there it’s just miserable. And WFM was starting up again soon. Perfect storm. I wish I had been here for the first cour. But I was here for the second cour.
I had originally joined tumblr way back after Korra ended. I was not ready to let the show go when it finished, and this was a good place to celebrate the show. It was so fundamental to my early days here, I followed so many people because of it. Fan art, people talking about the show, even years later, fan fiction. Like I said, it was a celebration of the show. I still treasure a lot of those old moments, and followed a lot of those artists onto twitter and pateron. Hopefully I will start seeing them here more as twitter implodes.
Tumblr media
It’s been very nostalgic here again, as we finish WFM. It’s like being back to that moment with Korra. I loved seeing all the art here again. I loved seeing all the talks, musing and speculation as the second cour went on. I started to follow people again that I kept seeing popping in the tags and It reminded me what it’s like to slowly learn a bit of someone on this site. I missed that old bleeding of interests you get. The cross contamination of fandoms. I got to see someone younger share their experience with Sailor Moon in real time through this site. I love it, I was a kid when that show first aired, it is so cool to get these new perspectives.
And now WFM is finished. I said this before, I knew at the start of the second cour that this show is going to stick with me for a long time. Remember the gunpla, well I have perspective now, I have been picking up more of those because I now have feelings to contend with, lol. Not a bad problem to have. It hit hard, the show, episode 16 left me heartbroken, god. And now we are here, they have rings, they had the wedding. Eri is the sister in law. God it happened and it feels like this was plucked from a better timeline. This show is such a fucking win, I’m not letting it go any time soon.
Tumblr media
I never really did much of this before, sharing that is. This is a lot, hell I’m even considering if I will post this as I draft this. I mostly just reblogged things and avoided putting my own words on top of them. And that’s fine, but idk, it’s never too late to try new things right, and you can always do things at your own pace, so maybe I can share a bit and it resonates with someone, and maybe it ends up being no different than existing in the void and never being posted. I spent too much time being self conscious of the things I like. I want to spend more time just making the kid in me happy you know.
Being around this all again has been nice, I feel motivated to be creative, more so then I was before. I have always had ideas for fics just floating in my head, and I think I might actually post a Persona 5 fic at some point, it's in the works. I recently played through it again with the female protag mod, and bless that mod, but now I feel compelled to write something about Makoto. Hell, maybe even some WFM stuff later. There is a really obscure doujin that I want to write something for as it felt criminal that it only got one entry. If you made it this far, thanks. Let yourself enjoy stuff.

Hello I would like to know why bc I love reading your takes (and the Tumblr in-blog tag search function is a dumpster fire on a good day).. if you’ve already made a post you can just link it, I’m super curious 👀
Okay this is a goddamn mess but I hope it is somewhat coherent.
So one of my biggest problems is that I don't think Donna should have gotten her memories back side-effect free. Like I love Donna's end, things can be heartbreaking and not happy for the characters and still be good. Like it feels like they wanted Catherine & David back because of ratings/streams etc. and I need a better reason. I LOVE Donna and I've said so on this blog but it feels so cheap.
And the reason why was so clunky. Like loving the recognition of a nonbinary Doctor but like the idea that they as women can like let go when 14 can’t because he’s male presenting? I just don’t understand. Not to mention I don't think Donna has ever let anything go in her life, and I love that about her.
I do admit that I was sensitive to the whole getting your best friend back when my own died only a few months before. I'll own up to that personal bias but I do think it maybe just shouldn’t be done and characters’ stories don’t need to be undone after they’ve meant something.
Another thing is bigeneration is stupid? Like why do we need 14 running around? Why does that need to be a thing? I don't care so much that it breaks tradition, it annoys me sure, but it pisses me off because there is no reason. And I hate the idea they can just use them whenever and also why would the current Doctor need to come back to earth if you have a full-blown regeneration of The Doctor with a TARDIS? ugh
Like I don't read this as a poignant story about healing. And fuck do I understand running on fumes. But I relate to 12 being tired and not wanting to carry on much more. Also like Donna's gonna die soon in terms of how long a regeneration can last. So is Rose. So why does this break heal them and not like Darillium? Why are those 24 years worth less?
Not to mention guarding the vault for 60ish years. I get no loved one outside of Nardole but like he did stay there and teach and watch over Missy. So like I just I don't even know.
And the flippant listing of all the trauma? That’s supposed to be moving because they hang on Adric’s name?  Like I've talked about those a lot on this account and listed them but like I'm making a blog post so be better! Think of better ways to reference all the past The Doctor's pain, I appreciate them noting all of the trauma but it doesn't feel like it's really artfully dealing with it
Just vaguely alluding to The Doctor getting better for some reason now? like there is so much more wrapped up in dealing with millennia of trauma than just having a good friend.
They even say in Wild Blue Yonder that it will take a million years to get better!
Then you have the lines about family and being happy in the end of The Giggle
DOCTOR 14: I love them. But here we are, Grandad and all. Who'd have thought? I ended up with a family.
&
DOCTOR 14: The funny thing is, I fought all those battles for all those years, and now I know what for. This. I've never been so happy in my life.
Like, do The Doctor's actual children and grandkids not count?
And the Ponds are similar to the Noble/Temples and they just do not count? And if they don't count, why?
Not to mention like all of the companions Ian & Barbara -> Yaz? Like why aren't they family?! So none of that time was as happy as this? Did The Doctor just not love all of those people as much as Donna?
We even have Sarah calling all 10's friends his family:
SARAH: You know, you act like such a lonely man. But look at you. You've got the biggest family on Earth. (Journey’s End)
It's frankly insulting to every person who's poured their heart and soul into this to say that only now he has a family and only now he's happier than ever before.
Only this character matters, and like I've literally written a post just about 10 & Donna's relationship and how singular it is, but that doesn't make her more important, it doesn't make her better than everyone else.
And I think 15 should have gotten classic regeneration moments and his own TARDIS interior. Like Yeah Ncuti Gatwa is killing it and many people were super excited about getting to see him for a full episode, it doesn’t mean that he shouldn’t gotten his own TARDIS interior!
And if you're going to have 14 stay on Earth WTF does he get a TARDIS? Like if you're going to say staying still is healing then make him stay!
Okay, that was too long but my brain is still buzzing. I've been a fan for most of my life and it's been a companion for many of my worst moments. So I know I'm overly emotional but I think there are parts that aren't good.

On my way home tonight the sun setting created a dark hued rainbow that met the night sky. It was so stunning to look at, I just wanted to stand in the parking lot and stare at it.
January, and I started thinking about my grandfather who suffered a stroke this month 22 years ago, and the subsequent month passed away.
December before he died, we were at my grandparents home in northern Wisconsin for Christmas. I remember sitting in the kitchen with my grandfather and he, out of nowhere, asked me if I wished I’d done anything differently with my life. I was 19, hadn’t yet lived much of a life to be regretful of, so it was certainly odd. But it also signaled, perhaps, that he was aware time on this earth was drawing to an end.
He went on to say that he could have married a nurse. That he had dated a nurse while he was at school at UW Madison. A blonde. He could have married her.
There is something sad about the fact that the biggest regret he was holding was that he wished he’d married someone else. Especially strange for me to hear, because had he done so… I wouldn’t have existed in that kitchen in that moment with him at all. That kitchen wouldn’t exist at all.
Curious, also, because my grandfather didn’t get to finish college. Farm life and his family beckoned and returned him to rural Rusk County where he ended up pursuing my grandmother, who was engaged at the time, and eventually married her, built a family home with his own bare hands and raised 4 daughters with her.
What if his family was able to farm without him? What if he had been able to finish school? What if he had stayed in Madison and married that nurse?
I used to go into the Rathskeller at the Memorial Union to write sometimes. Many times, after he passed, I’d look around and think of him being there. I’d try to place him in the exact spot I was in, tried to envision whatever academic life looked like in the 1940s.
It’s also interesting to note, at least to me, that he is the only relative I’ve ever had premonitions of prior to them passing and the only one who came to say goodbye to me after crossing over.
Life is strange, everyone’s story is so different yet often familiarities can always be found.
But wow… 60ish years spent thinking about the one that got away…

7/11/23
No rain today, dissapointing. I feel like it will be a busy morning but overall a slow day. Yesterday was the record breaker, 23 cars, all on my own, without any issues. It kinda stinks here, like smell wise, like the faint smaell of a farm. Oh the lot is like empty, empty today. As least someone left a tip in my lockbox. I’m adding Hiccup to my kinlist beacuse that’s how it feels to do this job. I deal with beast of various sizes who all behave diffrently and I can easily transfer over over from “dragon to dragon” without thinking about it. I can’t belive I went the comedy route for the Pokemon zine, but like why the fuck not? Samurott is my partner Pokemon and I know it’s personality best. If you want to be happy is playing on loop in my head again. Damn it’s like someone just turned off the sun with that cloud that just covered the damn thing. The clouds themselves are moving extremly fast and yet there’s barely a breeze. Some clouds look strange, they’re very thin lines that make it look like a computer screen. DO NOT let the conspiracy teriost see this post. They’re just goofy clouds. It reminds me of being on the lake with how fast they’re going. I miss going to the lake.
I miss a lot of things. I miss the beach, I miss laying in the hot sand, I miss burrying myself in it. I miss getting knocked over by waves and choking on salty water that sunk into my lips to pucker them and make them taste sweet. I miss the symphony of sound that blened into one cry of waves crashing, seaguls cawing, people talking, the occasional squeal from a baby. I miss peeling my skin off a week later beacuse I always get sunburned no matter what. I miss hauling up water back to the car when it was time to go so that we could rinse off our feet to make sure no sand got in. I miss going to the shops accross the street that waft over the sweet and savory smells of food; the kitchy gift shops enticing me with useles trinkets I don’t need but needed beacuse they reminded me of the sea. I miss going to the arcade and having my sences overloaded with evrey machine ringing and singing “winner!”; the ticket machine’s cartoonish munching as it eats up someone’s jackpot. I miss the more solitary beach with it’s single shop at the top of the hill; stacked from top to bottom with treats and beach toys. I miss going to the slushy machine and filling my cup to the brim with red ice. I miss how my tounge would turn red from the coloring
Notes:
Wake up in the morning / look over at the shelf / try to pick out a face / that I can put on myself / trip and fall / slam the wall / all the faces flying / god I hear them crying / God damnit leave me alone / god damnit go home
I need to find that car again. White Cadilac Imperial? 1950-60ish. Fucking beautiful beast and I mean BEAST. That thing was a god damn land yacht.

10 Years of Sherlock (TV)  AO3 stats!
Sherlock fans, new and old, click below to read a long list of graphs and comments about our communities fanworks over the last 10 years. I scraped AO3 again and demonstrate that:
More creators are writing longer works in 2020
Readers engaged more as the fandom changed after S4
Top ten new tags per year for the last 10 years
And a lot more.
PS the code to gather this data and analyse it can be found way over here.
Activity over 10 years
The last 10 years in the BBC Sherlock fandom have been tumultuous, but this community persists, with engagement from new fans and continued creative output. To commemorate over a decade of squee, I’ve done another scrape of the fandom’s imprint on the Archive of Our Own and will share some insights from the numbers in these plots. A very late update on my post S4 snapshot from 2018.
Note: This analysis is of completed public fanworks only, about 101000 of the 122000 Sherlock (TV) works available at present. This is to remove the late WIP effect, which adds a bulge to the last few months, and out of respect to creators who wish to have their material reserved for other registered AO3 users.
The works are still coming
Counting the number of works posted per day, we can see the peaks associated with each series airing (in UK and US). After that, the number of works continues fairly evenly, 20-30 per day, plus seasonal peaks. This rate is continuing on without a hint of new canon in sight. So who is posting all this work?
Tumblr media
Creator-waves, monthly output
Years ago I started plotting creator waves, basically I group fanwork producers by the year they first posted to the fandom and then count how many of this group are active in later time intervals. This lets us get a sense of how long people are contributing and whether new fans are getting the urge to create.
Tumblr media
This plot of the Sherlock (TV) fanworks on AO3 shows the standard shape of plump participation in the first year of any given set of creators, followed by a slowly thinning tail as they because less active over time. Turnover is natural in fandoms, with most only posting a work or two within a fairly limited amount of time, while a precious few persist for years.  The surprise for me here is that the ratio of new creators is higher in 2020 than it was in 2019. Maybe the excuse of lockdown encouraged more folks to take a turn at creating content.
Tumblr media
Another way to look at the output of fan creators on AO3 is to see the total amount of words being shared across all fanworks. The total has been pretty close to 300-400k words per month since 2018! To get a sense of what that means per work, I also plotted the median number of words per fanwork in these monthly sets. The median in higher in the last year than it had been staying for a while.
Reader behaviour: Hits & Kudos & Comments
Fan creators are only part of the story. Stats on engagement are a bit trick to interpret, I’ve got some plots here that tell us something about how works have been engaged with over time.
Tumblr media
The obvious first to consider is Hits. Above is the total number of Hits given to works published each month. This is the current totals, not a historical snapshot, so we have a very strong bias  towards early works, what we might call the Classics Effect. Works that have been around longer have had the chance to be seen by more people, and in particular those works that become must-read classics in a fandom, extending their exposure through prominence in top ranked works and recommendations.
To cut down on the advantage of the classics, we can also consider median hits per work for each month. As most works get a lot attention when they are first posted and then fade out of sight, the median number of hits reflects instead the ratio of readers to creators, basically how many eyeballs are around to look at the latest work, regardless of status. The median plot shows how the hyper-visibility of the few work available before 2012, and then a more steady curve once the fandom had gotten established on the platform after Series 2. Amazingly, the hit rate for the median work was steady through the big bumps in activity with later series, a 1000 hits for median works between 2013 and 2018, followed by a slow decline. I’d expect the 2020 works to continue gaining for a few months yet, but the median is probably 50-60% of what is was when the show was in production.
Tumblr media
Kudos counts and medians show a similar story to hits, but there is a dip down around 2013 for kudos reflects the frenzy of productivity that saw the fandom grow during the Series 2 hiatus. Readers were getting spoiled! From the airing of Series 3 (2014) until a year following Series 4 (2018), the median work received an even 60ish kudos and 1000 hits, a niche audience that decreased to 50/750 through 2018-2019. The numbers of 2020 suggest a smaller community of readers again, though these numbers may still rise a bit in the next few months before the median works are forgotten.
The statistic that tells a different story is Comments. Looking at the total comments counts, there isn’t a drop after Series 3 (2014). Instead, the fandom compensated for changing numbers with more feedback and discussion attached to works. This is reflected in the median comment rate as well, which shows seasonal variation but doesn’t really drop off until 2020.
Tumblr media
It’s remarkable that without fresh canon we continue to have new creators contributing to the fandom, and while that may be outpacing the readership somewhat, the standard of engagement has been very high. One could say the fandom is chugging along quite nicely!
What about Tags
So, with all that turnover and shifting population, is there a change in the kinds of works being posted? We can look at tags, all tags and freeform tags, to see if there were any meaningful trends.
First up, I did a creator-wave like analysis of works just for tags, to see how tags continue to be used after being introduced. Unlike the creators, tags clearly persist for years. After 2015, it looks like the core tag set has been established, with very few tags persisting in usage per  subsequent year.
Tumblr media
This graph reports numbers over time that are not proportional to the number of works or creators active. Instead, works on AO3 have been getting more and more tags over the years, with the average steadily growing from 5 in 2011 to 15 in 2020, with freeform tags (not characters or ships) from 2 to 8.
To get a sense of fic and tagging culture changes over time, I counted the most popular NEW tags of each year (wave). Note: this analysis is using exact matches, not the networked associations of tag meanings wrangled into AO3 today, so some things that pop up aren’t new concepts but instead newly popular TAGs for whatever they represent.

A little note from looking across all freeform tags, not just the new ones, we see a curious pattern with regards to two actions: First Kiss and Anal Sex. They appear amongst the most common tags as of 2014, neck in neck for two years, than Anal Sex drops off the top ten in 2016. From there out, First Kiss stays in the top 5 from that point on, while anal sex appears at rank 9 from 2017-2019 and is gone again in 2020. This probably says something about the fandom, somehow.
Bravo for making it to the end and thank you for reading!
Questions/comments welcome.

i was tagged by @foreverfanficaddict! :D thanks!
my check in tag
1. Why did you choose your url? i wanted something that was kind of fandom neutral just in case i wanted to reblog a bunch of random stuff (HA, the 1d tumblr claws hooked on me tight, so that’s not happening) and some of my friends call me becky so... here i am!
2. Any side-blogs? no, although i should start one just to have slightly better tag organization because i think i have three different tags for the same thing on this account haha!
3. How long have you been on tumblr? boy bells, you think you’re a baby, i’ve been on tumblr for... *checks date* maybe 7 or 8 months now.
4. Do you have a queue tag? yeah, i do, mostly to ease my irrational anxiety of reblogging things immediately.
5. Why did you start your blog in the first place? i can’t remember the exact reason because i have the memory of a goldfish, but i think it was because i wanted some place to share my harry/1d art and none of my other socials were really art or fandom related.
6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp? i love the aesthetic of it and his teal pants kind of match the teal on my blog.
7. Why did you choose your header? photos of H waving pride flags have always been my favorite, but this one is my particular fav. and since i can’t put it anywhere else, it became my header!
8. Whats your post with the most notes? i haven’t really made any posts that have gotten too many, but right now it’s my first fic post.
9. How many mutuals do you have? around 30? maybe? but i love all of them!
10. How many followers do you have? around 100 i think
11. How many people do you follow? 60ish
12. Have you ever made a shitpost? nope.
13. How often do you use tumblr a day? waaaaay too much lol. i scroll through it whenever i’ve got any free time or when i’m not reading fics, which, now that it’s summer is.... a lot.
14. Did you once have a fight/argument with another blog once? Who won? nope, and i really don’t hope to. i like having my little corner of tumblr drama free because i definitely don’t need more anxiety in my life.
15. How do you feel about “you need to reblog” posts? mehh, i’m not in love with them. i do think they’re often a way to show off performative activism for some topics
16. Do you like tag games? i love them! i’ve not got that many tumblr friends so it always warms my heart when someone tags me in them. <3
17. Do you like ask games? i do, but i’ve been kinda just saving them up for now because my blog isn’t really big enough to warrant throwing them out there yet. but maybe one day!
18. Which of your mutuals do you think is tumblr famous? honestly, i haven’t been around long enough to even know who is tumblr famous
19. Do you have a crush on a mutual? lots of friend crushes! you all are amazinggggg <33
20. Tags? i’m pretty sure everyone has done this at this point, but here’s a few @alwayslarry-vol28 @theisolatedlily @idolizingthelight @neondiamond

hiii idk if u have been asked this before but i'm wondering how far in advance ur planning goes (specifically for come together) because every chapter is so rich and all of ur characters have such full storylines!
thank you for asking! i have possibly given vague answers about this before but i love talking about the Process™ so much that i will gladly do it again
there are multiple levels to my planning in terms of depth. loosely speaking, the ~stages are brainstorming (back-of-my-mind juggling ideas, the what-if stage), daydreaming (thinking up what each what-if would look like, discarding things that don't work, altering what-ifs to better suit the plot), scene planning (going from "this happens" to "this is how it starts, this is why the character is here, this is where they go"), outlining (putting a scene in my mind mapping software under the requisite chapter, writing out every detail of it i already know so i won't forget anything big).
then it's a little rinse-and-repeaty, in that i go back to daydreaming to flesh things out, and i usually don't do this process in chronological order within a chapter so i have to figure out where a scene goes in a chapter both in terms of when it actually happens and what reading order it's in (for example, positioning the diagon alley run-in flashback in the middle of chapter 33 after all the girls had already found out james was head boy).
so, the furthest scene i have brainstormed right now will probably end up like....in chapter 70, or something? maybe even later. the furthest scene i have daydreamed is probably chapter 60ish, and furthest scene-planned is 46. but note that those aren't full outlines for the chapter — they're just one-off scenes that i know will come around sometime in the timeline.
i feel most comfortable when i have sizeable outlines for the next 3 or 4 chapters, which is how it is now! of course, that doesn't always work out, and there are various points where i've had to be like oh crap i've got nothing in the scene planner LOLL
but that's super stressful so, obviously the bigger the safety net the better. also those moments have also been fewer and further between since i got this mind mapping software, since now i put down a lot of ideas i know will go somewhere in the future, and don't worry about them until i see a place they can slot in. so it enables me to plan a lot further ahead than is really necessary, strictly speaking!

Shadowbringers Tank Thoughts! [FFXIV]
Well, with patch 5.2 out with a singular change to any of the tanks (WAR’s shield on Shake it Off went up to 12% of Maximum HP to 15% of Maximum HP at base), it is as good a time as any to make this post. I’ll go over all 4 tanks and describe how I’m feeling about them, maybe with some initial impressions mixed in there as well. Let’s start with the ARR jobs and work towards the ShB tank with GNB. First up, the angriest job: WAR!
Warrior (WAR):
FELL CLEAVE! FELL CLEAVE! FELL CLEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVE! The one button that changed tanking forever. Seriously, every tanking job has their Fell Cleave button. For PLD it is Holy Spirit, for DRK it is Bloodspiller and for GNB it is Burst Strike. So, what did WAR get with Shadowbringers? Not too much, but what it got was quite nice.
It got a combo skill from Overpower called Mythril Tempest and unlike Overpower it is a circle around you instead of a cone ahead of you, more on that later
Mythril Tempest also extends the Storm’s Eye buff and it gives 20 Beast Gauge
It got Nascent Flash, which is a buff you put on someone and for 6 seconds (roughly 3 GCDs if done well) you give them 10% mitigation and heal them based on the damage you do. You also get healed for 200% of the same amount you heal them (or they get healed for 50% of the same amount you heal yourself)
It also got Chaotic Cyclone and Inner Chaos, essentially roided up versions of Decimate and Fell Cleave that always direct crit and they look like Steel Cyclone and Inner Beast
So WAR didn’t change much from SB to ShB and honestly, there is nothing wrong with that. Do I wish it got a few more things to play around with? Absolutely. Do I think WAR is in a bad spot? Hell no. It is amazing on the self mitigation side and its damage, while definitely lower than GNB/PLD and while arguably (depends on what level you are preforming) DRK, is still quite good. Overal, if I had to give an arbitrary number to rate WAR with, I’d give WAR a solid 8/10. Also, as a quick aside, it feels weird to have a cone AoE combo into a player based circle AoE. I’d personally like it if WAR got 2 cone AoEs, though they would’ve had to extend the range of each a bit (around 10 yalms instead of the current 8).
Paladin (PLD): HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! IT IS FINALLY TIME THAT WE’VE BEEN LEGITIMATELY BETTER THAN WAR FOR A COUPLE OF PATCHES! MWAHAHAH- ahem I mean... the shield of the party is up next. PLD, with it being my main in the short while I played HW and the entirety of SB (I’ll get to ShB main at the end), definitely has a soft spot in my heart. But what did PLD actually get?
Well, it got a combo skill from Total Eclipse called Prominence. Prominence also gives MP back when used (only in the combo)
It got an AoE version of Holy Spirit called Holy Circle
It got a gap closer called Intervene, which has 2 charges
It got a system called Sword Oath, which gives you a use of a skill called Atonement. At the moment, the only way to get Sword Oath stacks is to do a full Royal Authority combo and you get 3 stacks of it. Each Atonement hits as hard as the final part of a RA combo (so the actual RA attack)
It also got a fix 2 years in the making in the form of the Enhanced Requiescat passive: when you are under the Requiescat buff, your spell casts are instant. THANK THE LORD!
And last, but certainly not least, it got Confiteor which is an AoE finisher to your Requiescat window
So... let’s talk about PLD. I listed everything that it got from Stormblood to Shadowbringers. While all of this is great, especially the Enhanced Requiescat passive, it also lost pretty heavily. Its personal mitigation feels kind of crappy. Sheltron is great, but unlike the other short cooldown tank cooldowns, it is tied to the Oath Gauge... something that is still tied to auto attacks. Even if it wasn’t tied to auto attacks, the only benefit that it has is that you can use 2 Sheltrons back to back and then you are stuck trying to get it back. Doesn’t help that blocking’s power has been nerfed into the ground, with the highest blocking power still mitigating only 20%. “Only 20%? That’s still a lot!” Yeah, but it just doesn’t feel great. Also, I don’t know who made this decision but I just wanna talk: WHO RENAMED SHIELD OATH TO IRON WILL? I JUST WANNA TALK I PROMISE *prepares to Fell Cleave whoever made that decision*
Anyway, lame jokes aside, overal I’d give PLD around an 9/10 as well with a small note: in its highest highs it is a solid 9.5/10, sometimes even going to a 10/10. In its lowest lows, it is still a 7/10.
Dark Knight (DRK): THE EDGE IS CALLING TONIGHT! DRK is back with a vengeance after what happened to it in SB. The black sheep no more, DRK took a page out of WAR’s book and decided that Delirium needed to be diet Inner Release. So, for the changes/additions to DRKs kit (warning: there is a lot):
firstly, it got Edge of Darkness/Shadow. It is an oGCD single target attack that gives the DRK 30 seconds of Darkside
Darkside is now a buff activated by Edge of Darkness/Shadow and Flood of Darkness/Shadow (which I’ll get to next) that increases the DRKs damage by 10%. It also doesn’t halt MP regeneration anymore, so that’s neat
Flood of Darkness/Shadow is a line AoE oGCD skill that gives the DRK 30 seconds of Darkside
Abyssal Drain is an oGCD skill now that heals the DRK a bit per enemy hit, so the more enemies hit the bigger the heal
Delirium is now a 10 second window where Bloodspiller and Quietus don’t cost any resource. Sound familiar? Yeah, it is basically WAR’s Inner Release
They also get a combo move off Unleash called Stalwart Soul, which gives 20 Blood Gauge and some MP back when combo-ed
Next they get Dark Missionary, an AoE buff that makes the DRK and everyone one arounds the DRK take 10% less magic damage
Last, but certainly not least, they get the coolest skill in the game: Living Shadow. The summon a dark shadow in the shape of our all to familiar DRK quest giver from levels 30 to 50, Fray. It does 7 attacks across the span of 20ish seconds, but a mix of AoE and single target attacks
Also Plunge gets 2 charges, matching it to PLD’s Intervene
Plus, Blood Weapon now no longer increases attack speed (or well, it decreased the GCD so you were attacking quicker)
HOT DAMN DRK! You got a lot of good stuff and I’d probably say that DRK had the biggest upswing out of all the tanks from Stormblood to Shadowbringers. Makes sense since DRK is the poster boy of this expansion. So if I had to rate DRK, I’d say a 8.5/10. The only thing I think is halting DRK is that it doesn’t get Stalwart Soul until 72 and that the Blackest Night is still its level 70 capstone, making synced stuff be kind of painful from time to time. Not as bad as PLD though, which in my opinion might as well be unplayable from levels 68 to 78 because of Requiescat not giving the instant casts yet :(
Gunbreaker (GNB): KABOOM! Squall Leonhart has arrived in XIV and he has come in the form of a tanking job. Funny, both of the popular FF mainline protagonists, Cloud and Squall, are referenced in tanking jobs. Squall more so in GNB than Cloud in DRK, but still. Oh boy, let’s start this. This is gonna be a while and I’ll do it in bullet points since this is an entirely new job instead of changes to an existing job:
GNB has its Solid Barrel combo, which gives a small heal and small shield equal to the heal on the 2nd hit of the combo and it gives 1 cartridge to the GNB on the last hit
Cartridges are used to power 3 abilities: Burst Strike, their version of Fell Cleave, Fated Circle (can you tell this job is inspired by Squall yet), their version of Decimate/Steel Cyclone, and their Gnashing Fang combo
The Gnashing Fang combo is a high powered combo of skills that is on a 30ish seconds cooldown (it goes lower with skill speed). You can use another skill, called Continuation, in between each of the hits of the combo. They are oGCDs that add more damage to the combo
No Mercy is their damage buff. For 20 seconds you get 20% more damage. Simple enough!
Demon Slice is their AoE combo starter, with Demon Slaughter being the skill that combos from it. It also gives a cartridge when properly combo-ed!
Danger Zone is an oGCD that does ST damage. Eventually it gets upgraded into Blasting Zone (CAN YOU TELL THAT THIS JOB IS INSPIRED BY SQUALL) and does more damage
Camouflage is a oGCD skill that gives the GNB 10% mitigation and increases your parry change by 50%
Bow Shock is similar to Circle of Scorn, an oGCD that does AoE damage and gives AoE a damage over time effect
Aurora is a heal over time skill that the GNB can use on themselves or a party member. Has the same eventual potency as Equilibrium from WAR
Superbolide is their invuln skill... with a twist. It gives the GNB 8 seconds of total invulnerability... but puts their HP to 1 first
Sonic Break is a GCD skill that applies a damage over time effect on a 60ish second recast (goes down with skill speed)
Rough Divide is their gap closer and it has 2 charges
Heart of Light is Dark Missionary. Exact same skill
Heart of Stone is an oGCD skill that gives the GNB or one of their party members 15% mitigation. It is on a very short cooldown
Last but not least, it gets Bloodfest (its animation is Squall’s Draw animation from FF8. So again, CAN YOU TELL THAT THIS JOB IS INSPIRED BY SQUALL). Bloodfest gives the GNB 2 cartridges
That... that was a lot, but that was expected since I was describing a completely new job. The next time a tank releases, if it does, I’ll have to do this again... oh boy. Anyway, Squa- I mean GNB is a very interesting tanking job. It has kind of taking DRK’s spot as the fastest tank. Makes sense, since a Gunblade is not nearly as big and heavy as a Greatsword. In reality, GNB is a very fast and fun tank. It is arguably the best designed tank at the moment, though I think something can be said of PLD (though that is strictly speaking on the offense side). Overal, I’d give GNB a 9/10 rating. “WHAT?! AS HIGH AS PLD?!” Ye. It is a really good and fun tank!
Overal: So, in the end, what do we have? Well, the short of it, we got 4 very fun tanks for their own reasons. Even the meh-est of the tanks, WAR, is in my opinion still quite fun to play. So I said I was going to talk about what my main is. Well... I’m still trying the tanks and see what I like the most, but I do still consider myself a PLD main. Kind of doesn’t help that Square gave me almost everything I needed to keep maining PLD. A gap closer, instant cast spells (only during Requiescat but still), a way to reduce the monotony of the 1-2-3 combos, a finisher on the Requiescat window. I’m... in love once more.
The only thing I don’t like about PLD at the moment is how it very much lost its impenetrable wall fantasy. Blocking is now only 20%, still hasn’t scaled and at this point I doubt it will. Sentinel is now the same as Shadow Wall, Vengeance and Nebula: 2 minutes cooldown and 30% mitigation. It feels very weird that the shield tank has the least personal mitigation out of the tanks, plus its utility abilities are... weird. Divine Veil needs to be proc’d via a healing spell and Passage of Arms needs to be actually aimed and either be done somewhat last second or be held, which then makes it a damage loss. Every other tank’s utilities are instantly applied. Also an issue is that the Oath Gauge still doesn’t have a reason to freaking exist. You don’t use it often enough and for enough skills to have it visible. The only reason why I still have it is because it feels weird to not have a job gauge on my HUD for only PLD. I can go on about this stuff for a while, but I still love PLD. I’ll go over a “things I want to see changed for the tanks in the next expansion” thing later. PLD will definitely be the biggest section of that. Anyway, these were my tank impressions for Shadowbringers. Overal, very good expansion for tanking c:

Why did I start this new blog?
This post might rub the people the wrong way but I have to think of myself and my work. I have to be selfish at this point. I want to progress with my writing and I can't think of everyone's feelings. So disclaimer here I guess.
I started this blog due to a few factors. It feels right to seperate my writing from my personal blog. That way my personal blog is now less cluttered and those who didn't follow me for my writing aren't having that constantly thrown in their face.
Another reason is on my personal blog I have over 1000 followers most of which I believe are inactive, so I wanted to weed those out and actually have active followers for my work. Not just that, I want active followers who actually give some form of notification that they’ve read my work. My old Negan taglist is almost two pages and four columns long (it's got a lot of names in it) and hardly anybody in that taglist leaves kudos. I’m not asking for comments, or reblogs. I just wanna know that people have read it, that they’ve liked it. Just clicking the heart button is enough for me. Comments and reblogs are a lovely bonus.
I went from getting 60ish notes each chapter I posted to barely hitting 30 now. Thats half of my viewers gone for whatever reason. My writing might have gone downhill, if you feel that way I’m sorry. Or maybe its because a lot of people don't give a fuck about The Walking Dead anymore which is fine...fanfiction is there for the shows fuck ups though. Or maybe it's because of Tumblrs constant fuck ups and people have been driven away, which again I completly understand. It's hard to stay on a sight that barely functions and then bans our porn.
But I was fed up with feeling disheartened, not good enough with something that is my creative passion. Something that I want as a career. My other half was probably getting fed up of me being upset every time I uploaded a chapter to this site. I love writing, I’ve been doing it since I was 12 and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon but I need validation like every artist. Ok we shouldn't let notes drive our work but its a very big factor. When your in this game you have to fight to stay relevant and that fucking sucks. I know my writing isn't perfect, I would say its average at best but I have really improved since when I first started and I will continue to grow and improve like everyone else.
So taglists have been reset. Im showing more work for more fandoms, which I was too scared to do before as it might have driven away the audience I already had. I’m still doing taglists, but (again disclaimer for sounding mean and selfish) I want people that are actually gonna leave just a simple heart on the piece of writing. I know there are people out there who are scared to have smutty works in their likes or on their blogs, that's fine. I know there are people who don't know how to comment, you could say anything honestly. Comments in any shape or form make our day. Again writers are simply asking for some validation, it shouldn't be that hard to give. I’m not asking to be popular or praised like the suns coming out my ass.
This new blog will have all my work uploaded to it, that includes the stuff I was too scared to post before meaning you’ll be seeing a lot more Star Wars on here. I hope I haven't upset or offended anyone, that wasn't my intention I just felt the need to explain my actions. I hope you understand. Thank you to those who have followed me, I appreciate all of you and the support you have given.

Dark Animaniacs Theory
because this is my idea of fun XD
Disclaimer before I begin:
A few days ago, I made a post asking if Tiny Toon Adventures and Animaniacs take place in the same universe and if we could apply the logic of one show to the other. Most of the notes of this post were likes, which given my post was in the form of a question, doesn’t really tell me people’s thoughts on the subject. (I assumed anyone who liked it either agreed with me or was liking it because they wanted to know the answer too and that was their way of saving the post to check other people’s responses later (I’ve done that)) I did get one reply from @viridianvenus that said:
i always thought the canon was that everyone was actors who were well aware that they were on a tv show. Therefore you can never really tell what's 'real' and what was just part of their show
Which is a good point and even with my two interpretations of this show, (see here) they both incorporate this idea in some way shape or form.
So, with that being said, I would like to clarify beforehand which interpretation/logic I am applying to is the first one I talk about in the post above. And if you don’t want to read it, I’ll sum it up real quick: the logic is that it’s in the same universe as Who Framed Roger Rabbit and the idea that toons come to life and are actors for their cartoons applies to both, and because of this, the idea that the Warner Siblings were locked up in the water tower for 60ish years is canon. It’s also important to note that like I suggested above, this theory involves the idea that Tiny Toons takes place in this universe as well, and the logic of that show also applies to Animaniacs.
So, keep this in mind as you read this theory. If you agree with the logic this theory stands on, I hope I blow your mind! If you don’t agree with this logic, then this entire theory is a moot point, but hey, maybe you’ll still enjoy it!
Anyway…
I’ve been going through the episodes of Animaniacs that give us insights into the Warner siblings’ past, (wanting to create a timeline for them, but that’s a whole other thing) and of course I can’t do that without watching their 65th-anniversary special. While watching that episode, I came across a line that I previously didn’t bat an eye about, but all the sudden seems a little suspicious.
The line in question came up while various characters were giving testimonies about the Warners, specifically talking about when the kids got locked up in the water tower. The line came from Plotz: “They’d spend the rest of their lives in that tower…alone!” Perhaps I’m simply reading too much into this, but the wording of “the rest of their lives” seems to imply the studio assumed the Warners’ lives would eventually end. And given everything we know about toons in this universe (regardless of whether or not you think it is connected to WFRR and TTA) the concept of them dying seems to be something next to impossible, especially since many toons we see haven’t aged since they first came to life. Then I remembered the logic of Tiny Toons, that toons will age if people stop watching and laughing at their cartoons.
And then suddenly I remembered a little line from the News Reel opening. “The Warners’ films, which made absolutely no sense, were locked away in the studio vault, never to be released”
This happened at the same time the Warners themselves were locked up, so there would have been no way for them to get anyone to laugh at them.
Combine this with the suspiciously morbid line of “They’d spend the rest of their lives in that tower…” and I have come to the unsettling conclusion/theory that the studio basically tried to kill the Warners by forcing them to age.
Now I do have some ideas on what the opposing arguments will be to this and rebuttals to some of them, so let’s cover those:
Opposing Argument: Slappy has stated many times that no one dies in cartoons (and let’s be honest, she’s the cartoon expert, she would know), so while toons may age from people not watching their cartoons, that doesn’t necessarily mean they will ever die from aging.
My thoughts: An excellent point. It’s certainly hard to suggest the idea that Slappy doesn’t know the cold hard facts about cartoons and the logic in them, but I do have a rebuttal to this,
My rebuttal: There is one episode in which Slappy attends a funeral for Walter Wolf, and yes, I am aware Walter was faking to get revenge on Slappy, but the important take away from that episode was the number of people who attended his funeral. There was a large group of people who did genuinely seem to believe that Walter did die. This doesn’t necessarily prove that toons can die from old age, I admit, but it could suggest that. However, it could also suggest that they just didn’t know if toons could die from aging yet. Perhaps it was unheard of until Walter “died”, and they all just went, “oh, I guess toons can die from old age” which to me says that they at least understand it’s a possibility, even if it hadn’t happened yet. If it was a known fact that toons couldn’t die from aging, no one would have attended his funeral, they all would have known he was faking. I would even dare to argue that in this episode, even Slappy believed that Walter was dead until she saw him up and moving (she just didn’t really care that he was dead because ya know, it’s Slappy), but the rest of you might disagree with me there. Either way, no matter how you look at it, it seems that the general population at least acknowledges that toons dying from old age is a possibility.
Opposing argument to my rebuttal: But, as viridianvenus stated, it’s a show within a show, so there’s no real way to tell what’s real and what’s part of the show, this is especially true when dealing with other cast members’ cartoons.
My thoughts: Good point, no rebuttal to that one.
Opposing Argument: Even if it’s true that toons can age from not having people watch their cartoons, that doesn’t mean the studio actually knew that. If toons started becoming a species as animation was invented, then at the time the Warners and their cartoons were locked away, there wouldn’t be any toons that would have aged enough, if at all, to have proven that this is how aging works for toons. Even if this was a known fact at this point, that doesn’t mean it was a well-known fact. It may have been known by some, but not necessarily known by the studio.
My thoughts: These are all very good points, and I have no rebuttal for this one.
Opposing argument: Even if it was a well-known fact that toons aged by having their cartoons not be watched, and even if toons can die from aging, that does not mean that the studio’s intent was to kill the Warners. Because even if the aging could have been proven by the mid-1930s, there wouldn’t have been enough time to prove that toons could die from aging and perhaps this is something they didn’t learn until later.
My thoughts: A very good point indeed, I have no rebuttal, but I do have a thought I would like to add to this idea: this could potentially explain why they let the Warners out to do cartoons every once in a while, like with their wartime cartoon and their being lent out to competing studios. Perhaps the studio discovered that toons could die from not having their cartoons watched, and the studio realized what they could have been unintentionally doing to the Warners and decided to give them just enough cartoons to keep them alive.
And the thing about these arguments I’ve thought of, while they do offer a potentially likely alternative, they dont seem to actually debunk the theory...
Another thing: Even if the studio wasn’t trying to actually kill the Warner kids through aging, that doesn’t negate the fact that this certainly was something that could have happened to them.
There’re probably more arguments against this theory, but I couldn’t think of them, so it’s up to you guys to let me know what you find or remember that debunks it!
Now if it is true, I have two questions:
1.       How is it that despite these efforts, the Warners seemed to have not aged a day? Yes, there are the cartoons the studio let them do while they were out of the tower, but would those have been enough to keep them young for several decades until the next batch of cartoons? Or were there other cartoons the studio let them do that we never got to see? Or was it just them having to be let out every few years so the tower could be fumigated enough to get enough laughs for them to stay young. Or did they perhaps actually age, while in the tower, and then when they got released and got more people laughing at them, reverted back to their child states, and maybe that’s why they are able to make so many adult jokes, because there were periods of time when they were adults.
2.       Do you think they ever caught onto this? Do you think they ever connected these dots and went “holy crap this studio is trying to kill us!”?
Yes, I know I’m probably just over analyzing and over thinking a silly cartoon that’s meant for nothing but to make its audience smile, but ya know what? Dark conspiracy theories make me smile so it’s still doing its job!
