POST SESSION 1 DLDND CHARACTER THOUGHTS

holy SHIT y’all the hiatus is over w a long ass session to start us off. i passed out so hard post session but now. i have things to say abt peoples characters and im going to say them. plus an added pronoun check for my own memory. this is a long post so ill pop it all under da cut. tldr at the end 2

IZZY | ALASTRELLE (they/he)

i LIKE THEM. i like them. i was very eyes emoji at their intro and im rly excited to see a druid. i have a feelin that theres a lot more 2 alastrelle than meets the eye but im not rly sure what. we got an insight check that he seems to know more than hes letting on... but like. idk. i have a feelin that theyre more like... they know stuff but not in a malicious way? mayb im bein 2 optimistic and alastrelle is just waiting 2 absolutely decimate every1. they DID heal ma’el tho so like... i think they do not want this. they seem kind. i want 2 know more.

This song is beautifully produced, the melody of “everything will be alright” sounding just slightly off kilter and perfectly fits the teetering vibes of the song. I love the carnival vibe- lyrics flow so effortlessly. The RUNS BRO. Really perfect window into a probably fucked up breakdown. Hope things got better CJ <3 “I don’t blame anybody but me/ You’re too kind, I am a disease!” oof.

A big brown dog named bagel- Nep

“I kind of wanted to bite-” I love the incorporation of bossa grooves into this indie rock, gay as hell love song. “I feel like we’re gonna marry way too quickly” This feeling. Really cute. Vocals are so sweet- you just kind of want to scoop the vocalist up and hug her.

So cozy, comfy, fuzzy. Whenever I hear fuzzy vocals it feels like my ears are being hugged idk why. Sad but in a kind of melancholy optimist way? If that makes sense. Chords got a little tired by the end but I forgive all sins for fuzzzzzzzz

Drum good. Fr the production/recording on these drums is so nice. I feel like im sitting in the drummers lap but in a comfy way- like the rest of the song is absolutely great also but man.. Ngl the vocals are nice but I wish he’d put a lil more OOmf in it y’know? Just like SEND IT.

I Fade Away- Tulips Ballad, M.E, CAT DAD

The high vocals really made this for me, just came in and I was like aaah yeah. Then together?? Lovely. Such nice harmonies. Only wish there was a little less repetition but Idk that might just be me listening too hard rn lmao. I like the more subtle production bits but like, the main guitar loop doesn’t have much movement and it left me a lil like… what if you did more? Bass good. I like the piano but what if.. different chord?

I… might be getting fatigued from listening to all this stuff but these chords at the end feel like the same as the last song bro I’m a lil disappointed. It’s just so quick and so… clean? In a bad way? Lmao I think it feels overproduced to me. So many production decisions that don’t feel like they serve the song and only a couple that really feel earned. (cheated and gave it a second listen because I felt kind of bad about having mostly negative comments. Both the vocalists are great and the quality of production is real nice, I just think the producer needed to pull back a bit and let the vocalists do their thing, y'know?)

Big Jack Stauber energy.. Perhaps… too much Jack Stauber energy? I can’t tell if this was a deliberate attempt to emulate the style as an experiment or not. The drowned chords, the vocals that jump down suddenly, all the little cartoon samples. OK I had a look and he’s def got a voice and a sound this song just happens to REALLY sound like it’s going for a Jack Stauber vibe, most of his other stuff is similarly drowned and sample heavy but like… distinct enough that I wouldn’t think to associate the two- it’s literally just this song so he is forgiven in my eyes. Peace and love on planet earth. Honestly I’d forgive him emulating Jack really hard too I mean fuck it man do what satisfies ya. (gave this a second listen and idk why I thought it was so close actually this is good and fine.)

Dark matter- Little Big League

Oh such a sweet sleepy vocal with nostalgic guitars. Love the way the main vocal kind of leans around the notes, feels so effortless. The slight edge in the tone is used so sparingly but so well, such a cool voice. Oh man!! Sorry band you’re great too I just love these vocals!!! I want more growls but I’m feral for growls- the way that tone is used so sparingly to great effect is lovely.

Better Go- Mel blum

Familiar with this one too. Just a really catchy, chill tune. Love the stops and little rhythm guitar moments. “Guess I ain’t using my body anyway.” Yeah. Solid tune fr. Love the floaty vibe of the vocals.

Random Firl -Late Of The Pier

Glanced at the band bio and apparently the band formed when they were 16/17 which is cute. They haven’t released anything in a long while but I wanna believe they’re all still friends. Feels like a song I’d have played on repeat in 2015 when I was in a Smallpools phase. The vocal harmonies are very sweet, such a nice wall of sound. Left me wanting more!! AA

You Make me smile- Mamalarky

This squishy bass is fun. Another soft, floaty voice- I guess Spotify is recommending all of these because I listened to so much Stella Donnelly last year. Really like the structure of this song, the way that the synths swell and fall again to make room for the guitar and piano… Just really cool vibes. Love that blending of synth and ‘real’ instrument. Yeah. Just kind of vibing here. Adding this one to my likes for sure. I feel like what sets this apart from some of the others is that the instrumentation is interesting and thick without drowning or outshining the vocals which is hard as heck to do right!!

First few lines are like. Damn. Yeah. Lyrics are heavy but in a fuck this kind of way. Their vocals are so sweet and yet kind of bored sounding? Genuinely really like the vibes. There’s a great energy to the guitars that makes you wanna dance around, real sad but happy at the same time. Kind of song I’d listen to while on the way somewhere to get myself in a good mood lmao. “Worms in my brain and my eyes are full of daisies, My body’s melting and it feels a-fuckin’-mazing”

Wicca Kids- Pacific Purgatory

This song is underwater! Pull it out!! AAA! Fr tho it’s so muffled it feels like I’m listening through a wall. Kind of a vibe? I do kind of want it a little less muddy tho. I really like the vocals- feels like they’re hiding I wanna drag them out to the front of the mix. This is prob intentional. It is nice, I’m just making grabby hands at all the high frequencies rn. Baby come back.

Vampire- Lupin

The shades in that title and song name. Chefs kiss. These vocals are great, confident and straight shooting. They cut through really well. Oh no wonder I like this, he’s the vocalist from hippo campus. Solid song. Not super my current taste but it’s definitely hitting every ball it’s trying to hit… if you get me. Knows what it’s about.

You’re Terrific - LoudFoxCult

I love the way the two vocals play off each other. This came out in 2018, real cute highschool indie rock vibe and yet- like way better than you’d expect from a highschool indie band so like.. Yeah. Terrific, even.

Scott Pilgrim- Plumtree

Omg I love Plumtree. Punk girls from the 90s kickin ass. I love this band. This is a great song, I like In The Sink better tho. The main lick is super catchy though I can see why this is their most listened to. “I’ve liked you for a thousand years” Repeated over and over and over because yeah dude I’ve liked you FOREVER.

WasteUrTime- Kevin Walkman

Bassline hits. Licking my fingers baby this shit tastes GOOOOOD am I going insane? Idk man this song just has a really satisfying groove going, vocalist has a great laidback tone. Feels perfect for the vibe of the lyrics. Horny songs gotta have a goood bass line and y’know. This one did it.

HAHA opposite vibes completely and holy shit a band from perth!!! The aussie accent feels so comfy to me in music mwa. Feels lik the accent is almost going american in parts- maybe that’s just the Perth accent tho idk any perthians. Jumpscared by the stop in the middle of the song lmao i was like NOO. Guitars are lovely, feels like a real lived-in sound. Love the vibe

Meet me in Montauk- Retirement Party

“Had a head so big it sank into the ground.” The noodles in the guitar always make my heart happy- very midwest emo. Just a very cozy angsty song. This is the type of music that turns my brain to like nostalgic goo. “I’m not sure if i don’t believe in a God or if he doesn’t believe in me” - something my 11 year old self would cry about fr. I love how raw and unornamented the vocals are- it’s a mark of the genre for sure but it just makes the lyrics hit even harder.

I Dropped Out- And The Kids

Feels like I’ve heard this one a thousand times and yet it’s not in my likes. The vocals are swimmin' in reverb and they’re just- asufghdsuigifih I Love The Dreamy-ness. The “I went to graduation" line coming back with altered timing/tone always hits so good idk it’s such a simple thing but with the force of the band crescendo behind it- it’s like. Fuck yeah, you did!

Been thinking- Fishing In japan

SO laid back, these lyrics flow so naturally- the vocals sound half asleep in the best way. Solid band. Nothing really stands out to me more than the silly sleepy vocals which are a very good vibe, kind of wish the guitars were played a little less straight to emphasise the drag of the vocals. It’d be different song. Better? Maybe? But this song is nice too.

Okay SOOOO many but like..I dunno I just really love S8 destiel, like the whole “where’s the angel” “i’m not leaving here without you” “i think i’m seeing him” story line. Like idk if that counts as a moment, but I just really think that all made it so clear to me that Destiel is being Written Romantically. Like idc if people deny it at that point, you can’t just logically omit the destiel story line from your memory at that point. I shipped destiel earlier on, but yeah, s8 is what got me so convinced and hooked that OH MY GOD, its actually ROMANTIC like fULLY, like INTEGRAL TO THEIR CHARACTERS

Most heartbreaking

Jesus okay...so I would say 12x23-13x05 bc I just could feel for dean, his grieving process, his pain his hurt and Cas trying so hard to get back to his human, BUT the ones where they make a CHOICE that separates them hurt me more.

So like 9x03-06, seeing cas as the most beautoful pure human struggling to survive without the one attachment he has to humanity?? And dean telling him he can’t stay?? My heart BROKE at that, and I know that in the end, Dean didnt have a choice at the time BUT Cas thought there was a decision made there. And that rejection, the way Cas must have felt looking into deans eyes and seeing him asking him to leave...pleading with him??? Ugh.

Also just gonna add in the “we are” “i think its time for me to move on” s15 sequence because those scenes were SO powerful and seeing dean feel so hopeless and cas feel so worthless ??????? Yeah, I still cant even process it tbh, I’m just waiting for the floodgates to open at this point

s15 DeanCas predictions

I thought I had this down pat until i watched the jaxcon panels which have me equally so optimistic for endgame destiel and ALSO so terrified bc its looking so positive...so I’m gonna ignore endgame for now and just comment on some little pieces.

Cas is gonna die, or get taken by the empty. Will it be mid season finale? Mid season premiere? Idk but i think itll be around then...and i think his death will cause some major confusion/miscommunication stuff

I think Cas (along w team free empty (i forget who coined that phrase but shout out if they see this) are gonna undermine Chuck

I think Dean is gonna finally tell Cas how he feels, or at least admit it to Sam

I think that Dean is going to explain what happened and his logic around everything but that things still wont be perfect, y’know? Like itll be a step, but i think the burn will continue to be slow and developing throughout the next many episodes. I think it’ll be this air of...okay something is going to happen...but when? And how?

very huge spoiler warning for v’s after end! just wanna give some of my Thoughts

it is very late over here and ive juuust finished one of the endings (560 hourglasses! miscalculated before! holy shit!) and i have a few. feelings. about it. gonna keep it all under the cut so check it out if youre interested uwu

now i’m gonna start at the top with all the Good, and then we’ll keep descending down the line ajhdgcvkjgf

The Good:

- the artwork! god bless everyone on the art team!! it was all Spectacular and the shading could break into my house and stomp me dead and id thank it

- the voice acting! theres a lot of high-tension scenes in this end, and i think everyone handled them all amazingly! i feel like at this point they’ve all gotten a really good grasp of how each character responds to each situation, and you can really hear the different ways they approach their character’s mannerisms and aiughjsjc Basically Its Very Good

- the translation work! if anything this after end gave us a lot of really good and - uhhh for lack of a better word - Deep dialogue, and the translations definitely captured the sentiment to a poetic T. rarely did any lines sound stiff, so definitely props to them there! translating is So Hard guys and they did so well!!

- the reunion between the two Forbidden Twins! AMAZING and SHOWSTOPPING and BREATHTAKING and even though it was SHORT it did exactly what it was trying to do!!!!! which is!!!!! make my sad little heart feel emotions!!!!! i was feelin pretty numb and confused for most of the after end but then the two twins saw each other and my heart jumped out of my chest and it went skinnydipping

- im a SUCKER for “where are they now” montages and v’s after end did about the most cliched ‘they get a kid’ version but YOU KNOW WHAT the kid was ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT and she is a tiny little criminal goblin who stole my heart and wont give me any refunds

- lucy: makes any kind of noise me, absolutely sobbing: fuck everyone else i respect YOU

The Not So Good Ouch Parts:

i actually only really have one big complaint about this ending and it’s that. i don’t really know why it exists like. i don’t get why it unfolded this way. it kinda overshadows the conclusion of ray’s route and now im gonna try explain myself in human language instead of annoyed monkey speak

- two things that happen in v’s after end -- the twins reuniting, serving the Tea abt the prime minister -- were promised to take place in ray’s after end, and it was ray’s route that properly and primarily set up the foundations for these events to happen. because yknow. the prime minister was a key player in ray’s route. and i may be remembering incorrectly but i don’t think he was mentioned at all in v’s.

- while i am On The Moon to know that saeran’s alive, it really just seemed like more of a copout than anything, especially considering the amount of time they spent establishing seven’s guilt and his torment regarding his brother (and the pacing seems somewhat stiff when you take into account that they spent 3 episodes on Seven Going Sicko Mode and a fifth of an episode on Seven Seeing Saeran Again). bringing him to life (wake me up inside) undid a lot of that emotional setup. it relieved a small bit of tension for a Temporary Moment Of Really Nice Things, while simultaneously creating a lot more questions in the process.

- basically all i’m trying to say is that if they’ve already covered all these plotpoints - even including rika’s redemption arc - then my concern lies in what they have left for ray’s after end. it seems a bit like they’ve taken the elements that made ray’s after end worth anticipating, and shoved them into v’s after end for... user satisfaction?

- i get in theory that ray’s route was meant to expand on saeran’s character as a whole, but ray’s route also had the alluring concept of the twins reuniting, and they also spent a good chunk of time establishing the Prime Minister Pandora Box subplot, as opposed to v’s after end just shoehorning in rika’s youtube speech (which Definitely gave me ray route vibes)

- all in all, it just feels a bit like the existence of v’s after end nullifies the need for ray’s route in the first place. although saeran isn’t exactly in Tip Top shape in this after end like he’d be in his own route, he still gets to the same destination: road to recovery, reunited with his brother. if v’s route has already explored this, then is there really anything for ray’s after end to bring to the table?

- thinking more optimistically, though, i suppose ray’s after end would focus more on the twins, rather than rika. thats still content! just not exactly what i thought itd be

tl;dr: v’s after end was aesthetically pleasing but overall very confusing and v wasn’t even there for like 90% of it

aaa no problem! i’ll do all of my characters lol,,

lets do a read more so i can explain my characters and THEN do all the questions!

well first off: all of these characters are superheroes! they basically protect their city (new york. somewhere in there i havent really decided yet) from monsters and this demon named kaal (who i have not drawn yet so…. technically she doesn’t exist. and none of the characters really know she exist either. so thats fun.)

in their superhero form they have different names to protect their identity (even they don’t each other’s real identities!), they each have a different elemental power and a different weapon, AND they each have different jewelry that gives them their powers and superhero outfits.

naomi dao: she’s a vietnamese highschool student! (she’s in the same grade as the other three! specifically they’re all in their junior year) she has the power of hydrokinesis, which is the power of being able to control water. her weapon is a staff, her jewelry is earrings, her superhero name is aqua and her eyes turn green when in her superhero form. she’s basically the leader of the group.

selena hayes: she’s mixed (black and white if you wanna get specific) and she has the power of pyrokinesis which is the ability to control fire! her weapon is a whip, her jewelry is a ring, her superhero name is flare, and the tips of her hair and her eyes turn a golden orange in her superhero from!

jamila bajwa: she’s middle eastern and muslim, and she has the power of aerokinesis (the ability to control air) and holographic projection (the ability to create holograms). i gave her another superpower because i thought just air manipulation was kinda lame. her weapon is a bow an arrow, her superhero name is air, and her jewelry is a necklace!

holly suake: she’s native american and of the cherokee tribe, and her power is chlorokinesis (the ability to control plants). her weapon is a sword, her jewelry is a bracelet, her superhero name is earth, and her eyes turn green in her superhero form.

anyway that was a lot. time to move on from talking about my overpowered mary-sue ocs and GET INTO SOME QUESTIONS HEYO!

naomi: naomi is kinda closed off ESPECIALLY as aqua. she kinda acts as like a leader and doesn’t really want to get attached to any of the others. so… nah. she’s not really affectionate.

selena: i’d say she’s the most affectionate out of everyone, but she’s not crazy affectionate. like when they win a super huge battle, or she’s just feeling really happy, she will hug tackle people (usually to aquas dismay.) she’ll put her arm around people and she’s definitely pretty optimistic!

jamila: she is a muslim character and i DO need to look more into this- from what ive researched i’ve seen that muslim women are usually not affectionate towards men, but idk about women? since everyone on the team is a girl. i’d say jamila is average affectionate! she’d cheer people on and give people high fives and stuff like that, but i don’t really see her as a hug type of person.

holly: i’d say she’s the same with selena! if she sees selena hug tackle someone on the team she will most likely do the same or join the dogpile. she’d probably do the pick-up hug where she also spins them in the air while going like ‘YEAH WE DID IT!!’

psyche

naomi: naomi tries to remain stoic and brave as aqua- but as naomi she’s as emotional as everyone else! (i don’t mean like she’s crying every five seconds. i mean that the amount of emotions everyone else shows she’d show the same amount.) naomi is also strategically just like holly- but it’s not unlikely that you would find her just jumping into battle with no second thought. at the beginning of the story, i’d say she’s pretty good mentally but later- thanks to kaal- she’s like crazy messed up. i’ll probably go into that later but uh. not right now. just know that kaal is straight up evil.

selena: selena is crazy smart! even though she knows it’s probably best to think through things strategically, she always goes with her gut instinct because she trusts herself. selena is also pretty emotional both as selena and flare- she will openly share what she is feeling.

jamila: jamila isn’t really ‘we have to plan this out to the t’ but shes also not the type to just run straight into danger. she is a little more strategic than not, but when need be she will do what she thinks is the right decision in that moment. jamila is average with her emotions too.

holly: holly is super strategical! she’s basically the character that would start talking about the plan, look up like ten seconds later and all the others would already be gone. she’d probably just facepalm and go join the others to make sure they don’t do anything really stupid and die.

as stated in the last question- holly and naomi are the most strategical of the group!

hobby

naomi: well the whole ‘what do they love? what captivates them?’ is like WAY too deep for me so. i’m just gonna list their hobbies. naomi plays softball and she’s really good at it!

selena: selena is part of like stem and robotic clubs, so she enjoys making robots and competing in robotic competitions.

jamila: along with naomi, she is an athletic type! except that she doesn’t play softball, she plays soccer and is baller at it.

holly: holly is musical! she mostly focuses on violin, but she knows the general basics of most other instruments like piano, guitar, etc.

interiors

naomi: naomi lives in a rather big house with her two moms so she’s doin pretty good. naomi seems like the type to hang up pictures of her family so she probably has tons of pictures of her chillin with her moms (no siblings- she’s an only child.)

selena: selena totally hangs up all the school awards she gets. you just walk in and you see medals from robotics competitions, papers of showing academic excellence and probably some perfect attendance awards up there. selena also has an older brother in college so she probably has a funny pic of them hanging up somewhere.

jamila: jamila enjoys lookin good and feelin nice, so she probably has tons of face cleansers, lotions, makeups and bathbombs (of the sort) ALL up in her bathroom. she keeps everything pretty neat and tidy- but it’s not like EVERYTHING HAS TO BE IN ITS PLACE ALWAYS. she just gets anxious when things around her are cluttered, so her house is pretty neat. (she is also an only child.)

holly: holly lives with her single mother and her twin younger brothers (her dad had died when she was young) so her house is usually very busy due to the 13 year old brothers and all the childrens hobbies- and they do only have one mom. the house is filled with soccer gear (the brother’s) and musical things with holly. sometimes the house is a mess due to the younger brothers, but it’s never absolutely terrible. holly has posters up in her room of bands and celebrities that she likes.
