I’m curious about the onesie now
also @pizzaplex-stargazer cuz you noticed too!
here's what Moon was rocking before Clip started making clothes:
Tumblr media
after their PizzaPlex went under, the DCA bois had to figure out a lot of things, one being: clothes. unfortunately, Moon's really big, so he struggled to find things that fit him and were comfortable. the onesie is the first thing he found that fit him and made him feel really cozy. so he still wears it at home (he prefers comfy clothes at home anyways) when he needs a pick-me-up.
of course, he can't work at the salon in a bunny onesie, so here's what Clip made him (under Sundrop's direction):
Tumblr media
Moon does prefer comfy clothes, but he has to admit, sometimes he likes the attention these clothes get him. he's iffy about them though, he feels that they show too much of him and he prefers the specific kind of comfort that comes from being an amorphous bundle of coziness.

mama momo to the rescue!
hi!! this is my first little agere fic? i just used one of my biggest comfort characters, i wrote this when i had a bad night to make me feel better, so it's not the best, please don't be too mean, and this is sfw age regression ONLY, no sexualization of it in any way
CONTENT WARNINGS: impure regression, accidents, diapers, but it's mostly just fluff
Tumblr media
you woke up in the middle of the night not feeling very well after a nightmare. as if your night couldn't get any worse, as you went to move you felt wetness between your legs. you had wet the bed you shared with your mama and you probably got her all wet and nasty too, you thought with tears in your eyes. everything was too much and you just started to sob, quietly at first as to try to not wake up mama, but unknowingly you got louder the longer your cried, eventually waking momo up.
"oh no what's wrong sweetheart?" she asked gently, seeing your tears being enough to wake her up fully, she starts to move closer to you to wrap you up in a hug. you weakly try to squirm out of her arms but she's not having it and you put your head to her chest, still crying. "noo mama m icky" you told her as she held you even closer. "i know my darling, it's okay, but you're upset. this is nothing a bath and a load of laundry won't fix, i'm more worried about calming you down and making sure you're okay. we can sit here for a moment until you're not so worked up and then i'll carry you to the bath, how does that sound?"
once you had stopped crying and your breathing went back to normal mama picks you up and takes you to her bathroom, setting you down on the edge and running a bath for you two. "mama?" you tug at her shirt lightly, "yes little one?" she replies looking over. "can we have bubble bath?" you question so gently like she would ever say no to you, especially after such a rough night. "of course bunny, i'll pour some in then we'll be ready for bath time!"
you always love bathtime with mama. before you met her you hadn't liked it much but mama makes it so fun! she's always there to wash your hair and help you get all squeaky clean and then usually you get to play with your bath toys and crayons! even though tonight has been rough you still always love bathtime with mama! "alright let's get you in!" mama says picking you up and setting you down gently inside the tub, before following in after you. immediately you start to play with the bubbles, relaxing even more, while mama picks up the bath cup to wash your hair with. "do you want to talk about what made you so upset dear?" she asks lightly, bending your head back a little to pour water over your hair. "m i had a nightmare and i don't feel very well today mama" you tell her while leaning back into her hands more, you always love when mama washes your hair. "i'm sorry about that darling, how about we get all clean, i'll take off the dirty sheets to put in the wash, and for tonight we can make a pillow fort!" she says, knowing how to cheer you up, and just like she expected you reply with an excited "really mama?" "yes really silly, but let's finish getting you cleaned up first!"
now that you're both clean and dried off, mama diapers you up to prevent any other accidents, puts you in your favorite onesies, puts some fluffy socks on you, and clips a paci to the front of your clothes. next mama sends you on a very important mission to collect all the blankets and pillows and plushies in the house to make a fort in the living room while she handles the dirty bedding. after you had collected all the things for the fort and placed them in the living room mama comes in with a couple chairs. "what're those for mama?" you ask curiously, "well we have to have a ceiling for our fort don't we bug?" she said while putting the chairs in front of the couch. "are you ready to make it bunny?"
with mamas help you two had made the best and comfiest fort! mama made the walls and ceiling and you helped secure them, and you were in charge of placing all the pillows and plushies while mama put up some fairy lights in your fort. after you were all cuddled up and watching a movie, mama left to go make you a warm bottle of milk. within minutes she was back inside your fort and placing you to lean against her so you could easily take your bottle, "are you doing alright darling? still upset from earlier?" cuddling closer to her you say, "no mama, m okay, i still feel a little sicky but i feel lots better being with you!" she nuzzles you, "i'm so glad i could help out my baby, mama loves you so much!" she said giving you your bottle. "luv u too mama" you mumble around the nipple, already starting to feel everything catching up with you now that you're safe and comfortable in mamas arms, quickly succumbing to sleep.

GRUVIA DAY: I Kissed a Girl
Gray Fullbuster, Juvia Lockser September 10, 2020 Rating: M for sensitive language and theme
Writer's Corner: Before we start and before you light that fire to burn me, let's settle a few things: 1) I know. It's too early for Halloween. Consider it as an advance. Hahahaha; 2) I know a lot of you will hate me for this, esp with how the last FT100YRQuest chapter portrayed the FT girls. But please know that I wrote this with no intention to degrade any woman or devalue them in any way. Lastly, with that said, read at your own risk.
HAPPY GRUVIA DAY!

---
It's that time of the year. The most awaited holiday of every tired out college student of Fairy Tail University was just around the corner – Halloween. Couldn't blame them. Halloween was the perfect excuse to dress up funny, drink silly and pass out on one of those green yards. But for the members of the Kappa Kappa Chi, it was the best time to wear the sexiest – sluttiest – costumes without actually being called one. And for the members of the Fairy Tail Dragons, the University's Three-peat Ice Hockey champions, to watch their fantasies come to life. Besides, it was that one day of the year when they could bang a Smurfette and not get judged for it. It was a win-win situation.
Except for Gray Fullbuster, FT Dragons' newest recruit, and this year's Halloween "Island Girl". The Dragons had a tradition, some kind of 'baptism of fire' thing. For this year's annual Kappa Halloween party, Gray Fullbuster was coming as 'Aloha' Fullbuster – the adventurous island girl of Tenroujima, looking for a good time in the City of Magnolia. So, that's a no to hooking up with any of the sexy ladies tonight. How sad.
Gray wished no one would recognize him in that totally inappropriate costume and hoped no one would hit on him. Because he was definitely going to hit on them back – with his foot.
Laxus Dreyar, the Dragons' vicious and ruthless Team Captain made sure Gray a.k.a. 'Aloha' had the complete ensemble: the lei, the fake grass skirt, the coconut bra. He was just being spiteful because his girlfriend made him wear a onesie – the 'not sexy' kind. But no one dared laugh at him, he was the Captain.
The only good thing that came out of this stupid 'Baptism of Fire' thing was Natsu getting the ballerina costume. No one would definitely want to hook up with that muscle guy in tights and leotards. At least, with his long, black wig, Gray could pass as a woman, beautiful at that. As a matter of fact, checking out 'Aloha' on the mirror, Gray would definitely hook up with her. Then, he shuddered, realizing he shouldn't because that would be weird. Dammit, and here Gray thought once he made it into the team, he'd have ladies flock around him and lock lips with the hottest girls 24/7. Guess he had to skip that this year.
"You ready, Island Girl?"
"Shut up, you dumbass ballerina."
Gray snarled at the pink-haired, cladded in a tutu with the same color as his hair, when he catcalled just to ruffle Gray's feathers. Oh, wait. Natsu was the one wearing the feathers.
"Aren't you cold?" Pink Swan genuinely asked as the two girls headed out of their dormitory. He was so serious Gray almost believed Tights and Leotards here was worried about him. At least, Pink Swan was covered all over, it was tight and every muscle in his body bulged, but all covered nonetheless.
Gray, on the other hand…
"Like I have a choice." He eyed the oddly unbothered left wing Forward, strutting down the sidewalk. Gray grimaced at his confidence and, if you look hard enough, a bit of Natsu's sass. Tights actually did look like an all muscle guy with a secret life as a ballerina. So much so that Gray reminded himself to stay away from Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in the Pink Tutu at the party as much as possible.
They stopped near a lamp post and waited for the guys to pick them up. Captain promised that he would drive them to the Kappa House. That would make the walk to the Kappa less awkward and less violent because Gray and Natsu would definitely beat up whoever tried to as much as ogle them on the way there. But Gray knew Captain Laxus just wanted to make sure the two wouldn't bail, that's why he was going to bring them to the party himself. What a vicious Pokémon. That wasn't the only thing to be worried about though, Gray soon realized, when he choked on his own saliva as he watched Pink Swan Natsu rested his hip on the side and folded his hand to study his nails while they waited. Gray sidled a few steps just to put some space between them. Actually, he'd start to stay away from the guy now.
Gray could finally breathe, or, choke some more, when the "Bolt", Captain's yellow Chevy, stopped in a skid just in front of them. True to the typical High School jock fashion, of course, Laxus drove a convertible. How else could he flaunt his perfect life and his perfect girlfriend around campus and make all other men wished they were dead?
"You girls ready?"
Yeah. Whatever, Pikachu. Gray wanted to retort but, of course, he couldn't. So, both Gray and Natsu jumped into the car and squeezed themselves at the back seat with Batman Bickslow, who draped his icky arms around the new recruits and pulled the repulsed Freshmen against him possessively, promising, "Imma make sure you girls are comfortable."
More like the opposite of it. But there was no sign the pervy Batman was going to let go anytime soon, so might as well give up to his fate. Gray settled in his seat, preparing for the most dreadful night of his freshman life.
Well, this was going to be a fun night, he thought. Sarcasm implied.
---
The Kappa House was just around the corner. Could hardly miss it with the white strobes of light spinning around the sky like it was saying 'we're here'. The familiar beat of the bass blared into the large expanse of the garden and a flock of various characters came flowing into the mansion. Wow, these Kappa girls could throw a party.
The five of them walked into the house like they owned it. No, correction – like they own the world. The other members of the hockey team greeted the Captain on their way in. Each and all wanting to see the sight that was the Great Laxus Dreyar in his pokemon costume, complete with the thunder-ear headband. The girls quickly circled around them, wanting a piece of the famous hockey team. But Gray made the mistake of meeting eyes with one of the onlookers and getting the bite-lip, followed by a very suggestive air-bite from skinny Dracula. A palpable chill ran down his spine and Gray quickly came up with the decision not to make any more eye contact with anyone – anyone at all.
"You girls wait here." The Captain ordered, as he tipped his head over the silver-haired witch cladded in a red robe. Gray easily recognized her despite the coveralls – Mirajane Strauss, head cheerleader and the Captain's girl. Very pretty and very off-limits.
Laxus made his way over there, talked to her a little was now heading to one of those rooms upstairs. Man, the Captain was gonna get lucky while Gray was stuck with clueless college idiots ogling him and Natsu like they were some kind of virgin sacrifices. Life was so unfair sometimes.
"Well, they won't be coming down for a while." Batman Bickslow opened, turning to his Robin, Freed Justine. "Or ever. So, let's spread and mingle. Wadda you say?" He slapped a hand on Gray's tushy and added, "Get ourselves one of those cheerleaders, eh?" He looked back at the new recruits and had the urge to correct, "or some of those guys from the wrestling club. Who knows? You girls might get lucky."
Another shudder and it wasn't because Gray's belly was out in the open.
"See you around, ladies!"
It wasn't like Batman and Robin promised to protect them. So, just like that, Gray and Natsu were left to fend for themselves. Gray "Aloha" Fullbuster needed to get out of their before…
"Hello there, beautiful."
And he scrammed, leaving the Pink Swan to deal with the wackos and he didn't at all feel guilty.
It was a breath of fresh air when he stumbled into the decorated backyard. He couldn't be more thankful. Natsu could deal with those perverts himself. Gray just didn't have the energy. So, tonight, he'd rather be alone and invisible. He looked for a dark, quiet spot to brood, rethink his life choices maybe, but the loud laughter coming from the pool-side bar caught his attention. A group of girls gathered around the bar, wearing costumes ranging from Bunny Girl to Firefighter, each one not sparing a chance to show a lot of skin, mind you, and who knew Strawberries could be that sexy? As much as those characters demanded his full attention – to the best curves and skin – his appreciating eyes zeroed in on the familiar long, blue waves. He watched as the bluenette, who was wearing the same costume as he was, licked salt on some Greek god's abs. That lucky bastard. She shot back her drink and basked in the cheers of her Kappa Kappa Chi sisters.
"Hey, Juvia." Gray heard the voice behind him before feeling the weight of an arm over his shoulders. When he turned his head to see the owner of the voice, 'Aloha' winced at the smell of strong alcohol. "Found your twin!" The swaying Police Girl turned to him, breathing alcohol right into his face. "Let's go get a taste of that Greek god."
Hell no!
He protested but damn the woman was determined. Gray knew her; she was in his World Lit Class. Also, she's the reason he couldn't seem to approach the bluenette. He didn't mind getting welcomed into that circle though, especially when Juvia was the one who pulled him to her side and clung to him the whole time because she said they were soul sisters, being in the same hula girl costume. It wasn't on purpose but c'est la vie!
Maybe Captain Pikachu's 'initiation' wasn't that bad. Gray had been trying for days to talk to Juvia. She was also in his class, seating right in front of him. But he never got the chance because she was always surrounded by her cheerleader squad or those stubborn ugly looking guys who wouldn't go away. They weren't necessarily ugly but who cares? They were giant eyesores; especially when they were making Juvia laugh and giggle and he couldn't even come up and talk to the woman.
Thanks to this questionable 'initiation rights', Gray was this close to her, skin brushing against skin once in a while, and could even enjoy a laugh or two with Juvia. Oh ho! Gray had no complaints. Except for that one fleeting moment they were egging him to take a body shot on that Greek god dude. That was a hard no. Not even a slightly tipsy 'Aloha' would say yes to that. No, ma'am.
---
At around dawn, when people started leaving and after Cana, the drunk and sexy police girl, took home – up to her room at the Kappa House – the Greek god, the girls decided to bring the party inside, around the fireplace at the living room, or what looked like a tamed version of it. Actually, the girls were just tired. They had their fun with the Greek god and decided the only action they would be getting was a lazy game of truth or dare. Besides, their President, and the squad's Head Cheerleader, was up there 'getting it' for the rest of them. Somehow, Aloha-Gray found himself squeezed on the couch between Juvia and Mirajane's younger sister, Lisanna. Also, none of them were sober enough to realize he didn't really belong there. All he had to do was keep quiet and don't get picked by the bottle.
Otherwise…
"Okay, your turn Juvia!" It was the sexy librarian, Levy, who was dared to send a very provocative text to his lab partner, who spun the bottle that landed on the bluenette.
"Alright, alright. Dare." Juvia giggled. "Hit me with your best shot, Levy!"
Sexy Librarian opened her mouth but was quickly interrupted when they heard a loud derisive snort coming from sexy police girl who found her own place in the circle.
"You can't trust Shrimp for a fun dare." said Cana. "She'll just make you take off the stupid coconuts."
"Hey!" Levy retorted, but she sat right back, realizing that was exactly what she was going to challenge Juvia to do. "It's daring."
"How about this," The twinkle in those sober brown eyes gave Cana away. "I dare you to kiss your fellow Island Girl."
There was an amused 'ooh' bouncing around the room. That challenge definitely got everyone's attention since all of them knew Juvia was a bit too… vanilla. Never played for the other team, not even out of plain curiosity. When Juvia didn't respond, Cana thought she wasn't up for it.
"Too chicken?"
Juvia glanced at him, at Gray, and he could see she was considering it. She smirked at him with visible interest.
"If Aloha here doesn't mind."
That was probably the alcohol talking but Gray Fullbuster didn't mind. He most definitely did not mind. Except that, it was the exact moment his cock-block of a brain reminded him he wasn't really a girl and that would definitely defeat the purpose of the dare. They bonded over the Greek god and he really felt like he belonged there now. So, Gray ought to tell the girls the truth before things got out of hand. He owed that to Aloha's Kappa Kappa Chi sisters. But as Gray was about to come clean, Juvia had already got him tongue-tied, quite literally.
Juvia Lockser was a good kisser, very experienced. Gray would go as far as say she was more experienced than he was. She got some moves and dammit, Juvia Lockser was making him lose consciousness with just the way her tongue slithered around his. But it felt good, so good that it made him forget about honesty being the best policy and fought Juvia for dominance, leaning in as close as he could get. Gray could hear their coconuts knocking against each other. Juvia probably heard it too, knocking her senses back to her. There was no other reason why Juvia would pull her tongue out of Gray's mouth and started giggling against his lips.
"I'm sorry." She erupted into another series of giggles, making Gray feel self-conscious. But they probably have put on a good show because the girls were cheering them on, probably hoping for some encore performance.
"That was some kiss, Lockser." She received the thumbs-up approval from the darer.
"Not too vanilla now, am I?"
Juvia couldn't keep the gloat in her voice, throwing each of her non-believers a smug look and returned to the flustered Island Girl.
"Look. I ruined your lipstick." She said, wiping the stain outside the line of Gray's lips. "C'mon up, I'll help you fix it." But all Gray wanted was for Juvia to ruin it some more. Still, 'Aloha' followed her like an obedient puppy.
She brought him into her room and led him directly into her walk-in closet. Gray then realized how different a girl's room was from a guy's. He was sharing with Natsu and damn, their room was a labyrinth with all the dirty clothes and other dirty things thrown all over the floor. Juvai's room was neat, tidy and pink. Juvia went into her drawers to search for a lipstick with the same shade as Aloha's.
"Found it!"
She bounced back to him, pulling out the applicator to swatch on 'Aloha's' lips. Gray quickly blocked her hand, deciding he better come clean now or him and Juvia – never gonna happen.
"I'm sorry."
"Wow, your voice is really deep." Then, with the kiss probably sobering her up, Juvia pulled a look of confusion. "For a girl?"
"Actually, that's what I was going to talk to you about."
Carefully, 'Aloha' pulled his long, black hair off his head.
"I'm not a girl."
There was silence. Gray braced for the beating that was about to come but there was nothing. He peeked with one eye to see that Juvia wasn't pulling an angry expression.
"Oh, wow."
On the contrary, she looked a bit…
"That's good."
Relieved.
"For a second there, you got me doubting my own sexuality." She wasn't looking at him now. Juvia sat next to him and stared amusingly at the pink wall. "I really thought a girl was turning me on."
Okay, since she wasn't mad about the, it wasn't technically a lie… just a 'withholding of truth'. Fine, the lie. Since she wasn't angry at him and she was talking about being turned on, Gray carpe diem-ed. He sneaked beside Juvia and, with a smirk that both ghosted his lips and his voice, flirted.
"I turn you on?"
Juvia glanced at him, returning his playfulness. "Well…" but her smile of amusement started to waver as Juvia stared him up and down. "Not right now. No."
"Right." He understood, casting his eyes on the floor. All hope abandoned.
There was that uncomfortable silence again with Gray not knowing the social cues on situations like this. It wasn't everyday that he got Frenched by a hot girl thinking he was a girl and finding out that he actually wasn't. Gray didn't really know the best time to say goodbye and scram. He made attempts but they easily popped like a bubble. Besides, there was nothing he could come up with now that would be of any help. With the way Juvia was avoiding his eyes, hope was flying farther and farther away.
"Maybe," Juvia broke the ice, worrying her bottom lip with her crazy idea. "Maybe, if you lose the coconuts?"
Halleluiah! There was hope.
Gray quickly lost the coconuts and tossed them somewhere behind him.
"Top off." Gray watched Juvia eye him with interest. Then, her pleased blue eyes landed on his bottom and her lips twitched.
"And the skirt too."
He slid out of the grassy skirt in one quick move, tossing it along with his boxers, and waited as hot island girl Juvia checked him out in all his fine glory. She bit her lower lip, obviously loving what she saw.
"Not too shabby, Island Girl."
"Well," Gray gained his confidence, "it's Gray actually." and grabbed the woman by the waist, wincing at the pain of the coconuts which Juvia quickly got rid of, as they both tried to recapture that wanton passion they shared downstairs, when Gray was still 'Aloha' and Juvia was enjoying the thrill of her experiment. Then, the searing passion found its way to Juvia's bed where Gray made sure that, after that night, hot cheerleader Juvia would never think of him as a girl. Ever.

The Good Life
“Stop seducing me in front of my daughter!”
Day 1 of IR month 2020
Prompt: Once Upon A Dream
Word count: 2.5K
x
"You're pathetic!"
Grimmjow grouses from his perch among the low-lying branches of the cherry blossom tree. The erratic movement causes a shower of pink petals to descend. Carried by the wind, the rainfall of petals flutters and trails along the faces of both father and daughter before succumbing to the pull of gravity, kissing the earth and becoming one with the world again- heralding the beginning of spring with their fall from grace.
The circle of life is full of stolen moments, enshrined in the poetry of flowers and their decay; each one unique, each one fleeting, tender and surreal- no two ever the same for man or time.
Violet eyes widen at the sight of them.
Clapping her hands excitedly, his youngest tugs at him, pointing out the bright colours to him, making funny little noises as she jabbers gibberish. Her enthusiasm is infectious but Ichigo is frowning as he dusts off the pesky things.
He should have never let Rukia talk him into planting them in the gardens, now every spring is just a personal reminder of how big brother is always watching. Byakuya has eyes everywhere, even at his own backyard. That has certainly proven to put a damper on the mood when he's trying to have a few moments of uninterrupted bliss with his wife.
"Hmph."
His non-committal grunt deepens Grimmjow's scowl. Feline grace marks his leap as he jumps off the tree and lands perfectly next to Ichigo.
"Don't just sit there on your fat ass and hmph, you lazy fuck! Get up and fight me! I swear you get lazier every fucking time I see you."
Ichigo snarls, hastily covering his daughter's ears as he glares.
"Oi! Language, asshole!"
Fatherhood mellowed him out pretty nicely but that doesn't mean he isn't a hot minute away from throwing hands with that blue-haired freak if it comes to that. Especially if his little girl's first word turned out to be a swear word because of someone's potty mouth.
"You do this every month," Ichigo rolls his eyes, shifting his hold on his daughter when she starts wriggling on his lap, "Give it up already, Grimmjow! I'm not going to fight you! Come back next month, maybe you'll get lucky."
"C'mon!"
Grimmjow swears that he's not fraternizing with the enemy here. Lines and loyalties are clearly drawn between Shinigamis and Arrancars. He simply laments the fall of a fellow warrior. How the mighty have fallen!
When and how exactly did the saviour of the three realms get reduced into this?
This... blob of passivity and stagnancy?
He eyes the baby- cherubic, rosy cheeks, bright eyes; the root of all evil, the devil dressed in a bunny onesie- with something akin to apprehension in his gaze and feels a shudder running down his spine; to think that a hero will willingly bend the knee and let himself grow weak for this insufferable… creature that does nothing but sleep, eat and poo all day.
It gurgles at him, makes an attempt to grab at him with her grubby hands and he flinches, hissing as he backs away instinctively.
Truly children and babies, especially babies, are the worst!
He briefly contemplates if he will get away with it if he snatches the creature away from her father's hands and runs for the hills the minute he did. That should teach the punk a lesson! It could work in theory, he muses- a Garganta with one hand, hell spawn in the other. Diabolical plan in the works, his lips curled into a smirk as he creeps forward. He'd like to think that he almost got away with it too if he hadn't made the rookie mistake of looking into Ichigo's eyes.
If looks could kill, Ichigo's glare would have been sharp enough to cut him down a million times over.
"Don't even think about it!"
A father's instinct to protect run deep and being parent to a pair of rambunctious pre-schoolers means that hardly anything surprises him anymore. Nothing- especially not a sneak attack aimed at his youngest- gets by him. His grip tightens as he cradles the tiny body against him. Grimmjow is a dead man if he takes another step forward.
Of course not everyone appreciates his efforts. Hisaki, for one- the literal baby of the family and already a full-fledged Kurosaki when it comes to getting things done her way- is not amused by the tight hold. She squirms, pouts and makes an angry face at her father while she makes persistent attempts to lunge at the other man.
"Urhhh-urhh…”
Baby talk is hardly the most eloquent of speeches but Ichigo tries. Her pinched face as she gestures wildly and wills him to let her loose is entirely too precious to be ignored. The doting father follows her line of vision and snorts when he notices her fixated stare at Grimmjow's colourful hair. Okay, so maybe Rukia was on to something when she said that Kurosakis are born with little to no sense to recognize danger and run from it.
He laughs, kissing Hisaki's cute button nose.
Maybe when she's older. Right now, he doesn't even trust Renji with her and that man's got years of experience in dealing with children compared to the almost-feral Arrancar in front of him.
Gently, he bunny kisses her chubby cheeks, blowing raspberries against them until her attention shifts and he becomes the focus of those big violet eyes again. She giggles- delightful little sounds that melts his heart down and has him smitten all over again since the day he first held her.
Bloodlines don't lie and she is perfect- a blend of Rukia and him sieved and condensed into this little bundle of joy. Don't get him wrong, he loves all his children equally but fathers are allowed certain liberties in playing favourites, especially when it comes to their baby daughters.
He runs a hand through her hair- soft, orange tufts that smell like baby shampoo dipped in an assortment of syrupy goodness, honeyed, sweet; heaven on earth- but that face, that pointy little chin and those unworldly eyes that gleam in the dying day; that's all Rukia.
His baby girl is going to be a heartbreaker someday, just like her mother and Ichigo is both a little excited and worried at the prospect. Someday, he thinks; the line of boys queuing up for her love and affection is going to be long enough to go round Seireitei and he needs to be prepared- will have to keep his blade sharp and ready if only for better crowd control.
As if to ease his troubled thoughts, his daughter yawns and snuggles her tired little head against him. Well- he adjusts his hold, wrapping both hands around her. He is getting ahead of himself there. For now, this is already enough excitement for the one-year-old and clearly past her naptime.
He eyes his long-time rival- deeply scowling with no signs of leaving any time soon.
"You're never going to leave until I say yes, aren't you?"
"Damn straight!"
"Fine! Just let me put her to bed first."
He slips in through the back door, wanders inside the house with his bare feet.
The pictures on the wall, silly little knick-knacks from the Living World decorating the shelves- the story of a life he built together with Rukia. A mishmash of new and old; the past and present- still them but better, fuller, happier with each other- of them on their honeymoon, of them at the Ishida's wedding, of them with Chad as he opened his veterinary clinic, the happy little family at the birth of each child, of his eldest's hatsu-zekku, and the most recent picture taken with their extended family- Shibas, Kurosakis, Kuchikis brought together to celebrate Hisaki's first hinamasturi.
Pockets of happiness preserved in stillness. Each one infinitely more precious than ever; chronicles of their evolving journey through life together. The sheer joy, the softness in their eyes; he can't help but mirror and smile back.
"Let me guess? He won't leave until you fight him?"
He looks up from the smiling faces frozen in time to see his reason for being. Sunshine filters through the open window from the kitchen and his breath catches. He sees her gilded and golden, crowned by the halo of the setting sun.
He heaves an exaggerated sigh as he presses his sleeping daughter to her.
"I can't catch a break! I'm supposed to be on paternity leave."
Paternity leave is supposed to be time spent with family, with his wife, especially his wife. Instead he spends it fending off old frenemies, being reminded of his brother-in-law's presence every five minutes while Rukia tackles her paperwork indoors. She only returned to active duty a few weeks ago and it has been a constant nightmare since then to catch up on the backlog of paperwork.
According to the newly minted Captain and mother of three, he's a distraction to her work progress, and can't be trusted not to mislay official documents in a bid to lure her to back to bed for the pursuit of sleep and other carnal activities, so to the gardens it is.
Ichigo doesn't bother denying it. He's simply saying that Captain Kurosaki-Kuchiki needs to do a better job of saying no, of actually pushing him away rather than deepening the kiss or groping at his ass every time he comes on to her.
It does, as the presence of three growing children attests, take two to tango.
Rukia rolls her eyes, "Most paternity leaves don't last a full year."
Ichigo shrugs unapologetically.
"Anyone who's got a problem with that can take it up with the Soutaichou himself. Kyoraku signed the papers- official seal and everything. I'm on paternity leave until further notice. Even Byakuya agrees."
It was nothing less than a miracle. He and Byakuya never agree on anything.
Rukia snorts, pokes at his sides as she teases, "Well, a little sparring might be good for you. You're starting to look a little soft and round around the edges there."
"Oh I'll show you 'soft'!"
With a playful growl, he pounces- grabbing her by the waist as he nuzzles against her soft hair, breathing her in- desperate and reverent, until the world melts away and all that's left is Rukia, sunshine, warmth and home. A hand rises to touch her face, his thumb tracing the fullness of her lips. There's the woman he fell in love with all those years ago. Proud, spirited; still breathtakingly beautiful but now a fuller figure to hold onto at night, a few more laugh lines dotting her familiar face, and maybe- just maybe, a little softer in the exasperated looks she shoots him whenever he annoys her; but still a fighter in every sense of the word.
She fights for him, for them and their little family, and he is so hopelessly in love with her- the undisputed queen of his heart.
"I'll be back by dinner."
"Come back before then."
Rukia pulls him down for a kiss. It is needy, sensual; a familiar ache that tiptoes a fine line between her wants and his needs. Passion flares and there is fire in her touch as she runs her fingers up and down the length of his bare arm- playful, teasing. There's a teenager lying somewhere in him still- eternally seventeen and reeving to go once she gives the signal.
He remembers long hot summer nights, naked bodies coiling in the dark; violet hazes that streak and colour his world when he gives in. Rukia's touch is magnetic and he is drawn irresistibly to the pull.
"The boys can stay a little longer with Nii-sama and Kukaaku-san today and Hisa sleeps like the dead once she's out," she whispers dark and tempting. Teeth nipping at his lips for good measure as she pulls away. He's all putty and labile in her hands and she knows it.
"We can have the whole house to ourselves."
He almost whimpers. The things she does to him-
He groans, forcing himself to look away from her sultry bedroom eyes. It's been too long.
"Stop seducing me in front of my daughter!"
Rukia laughs, tenderly brushing the stray wispy hair away from Hisaki's face. "You mean our daughter."
Swaddled in her mother's arm, his youngest looks even tinier than usual; her face small enough to fit into one of his palm and a little drool escapes the corner of her mouth as she fusses, tiny little digits flexing then bunching at her mother. His lips curve, wondering what she's dreaming about and if she can comprehend just how happy she makes him just by existing.
They were in his arms before he even knew it. His heart so full that it seems to burst at the seams with the love he has for his little family, smiling so wide that his cheeks hurt.
There is nothing that he wouldn't do for her, for them.
"I'll be back."
Fingers brush at his cheek. Rukia's eyes are soft and smiling as she watches him leave.
Knowing what he knows now, Ichigo will be the first to admit that there's still a whole lot out there that he doesn't know but this much is true: life is a mystery and anything can happen in the blink of an eye, so when good things happen you don't question it.
You don't look a gift horse in the mouth, or scorn at your good fortunes like a little shit and ask why. No, you count your blessings, grab hold of them and run- praying in vain that you'll somehow outrun time itself and the fates never catch a glimpse of your happiness long enough to be envious of it.
Somehow, somewhere; he was at the right place, asked the right questions at the right time and Rukia said yes to all the important ones.
Life begins anew and he hasn't looked back since.
All is well.

Chapter Six: Ducks
Bubble Bath
August 14th, 2018.
“Five? Normally you’re sated by three,” Patton said incredulously.
Sloshing water over the tub’s edge, their knees knocked together. Patton and Remus’s bones had become saturated with warm water, and the bubbles were seeping in now too.
“I got worked up badly.”
“But five!—“ Patton’s rasping voice broke into a cough. Remus reached out on impulse to touch his throat as if to soothe. It at least brought comfort as Patton pressed into the heat of his palm. The action encouraged Remus to curl his fingers, but he didn’t dare apply any pressure. Turning relaxed and pliable, the full, bowling ball weight of Patton’s head fell trustingly in his grip. Even his eyes slipped closed, the little puppy.
(Poor, touch starved thing, taking every morsel of affection so hungrily like it could cure years of neglect.)
“I’m sorry,” he sincerely said, “I shouldn’t of— I, I never should have asked this of you.” Gaze settling on the froth of bubbles steadily dissolving in the water, his hand fell away.
Only for Patton to catch it. He brought Remus’s hand to his lips, kissing the back like a gentleman. He shook his head fondly. “I know I can say no. Stop worrying.”
“Yeah, but still, Moonshine. I should restrain myself more—”
Sparing his tender throat, Patton abandoned his voice in favour of booping Remus’s nose. That shut him up. He choked on a surprised laugh, tossing his head back. Wanting to giggle himself, Patton just smiled at him while his stomach clenched. When Remus stopped laughing, he winced and rubbed the back of his neck.
Patton tugged Remus forward by his hand still clasped in his, and positioned him with his back to his chest. Deft hands delicately came to hold Remus’s neck, just beneath his jaw. His thumbs threaded into the baby hairs at his nape. (The brief thought of being strangled to death, his body left floating in the bathtub framed as a tragic, accidental drowning crossed his mind. Remus had the compulsion to blurt it out, yet ground his teeth.) Tilting his head just so… Click-ck! And the other way… Cra-a-ack. Air trapped between the segments popped like thunder. Shivers ran through him, soothing the kink in his neck, but consequently triggering a different kink (one he didn’t even know he had until right then). “God, I didn’t realise I needed that,” he sighed appreciatively.
Migrating, Patton settled one hand on Remus’s ribs flexing from the aftershocks of his boisterous, rumbling laughter. Patton could feel Remus’s scurrying rabbit heart. De-dum, de-dum— de-de-de-dum, dum. De-dum. Remus’s rabbit heart hopped beneath his palm. Loud, rough, and wild, it nudged at Patton affectionately. His heart had always beaten a little faster, a little harder. A little more passionate than it should, leading it to stumble and hiccup occasionally. Every beat, his heart plucked his muscles like the strings of a viola, each pizzicato note a jolt singing through his body. In contrast, the base of his lungs took short yet deep breaths. Wisps of curly, deep cinnamon seasoned, caramel chest hair grasped and coiled around Patton’s fingertips.
Then, trying to coax out another laugh, Patton ruffled his hair.
And white powder clinging on got displaced from Remus’s fringe, sprinkling the water and suds.
Patton gasped, “That’s why!” (The “I should’ve known” went unsaid.) Being so used to seeing that streak of silver, Patton had forgotten entirely how and why it was there in the first place.
“I tried to distract myself but the two weren’t a good combination.”
Trust
February 7th, 2019.
Glue splattered on Patton’s face as soon as he popped up in Remus’s room. (Well, he thought it was something else first, but quickly noticed it was stone cold, so no.) Fucking perfect. Patton had just walked in on the funeral of a monstrous glob of red and white paper mache of intimidating stature. It had a fresh, gaping, fist sized hole in it, dripping like a miscellaneous orifice.
Mindlessly munching on a pencil, Remus stood back to scrutinise his work. That wouldn’t do. Remus summoned his Morningstar over his shoulder. “How do you like this, katoptronophile?!” Remus cackled. His morningstar ploughed through the mache mound vaguely where a head would be in one swift(ish) swing. More pulp splattered Patton’s face.
“Really, Remouse?” He whined exasperatedly. Only just noticing him, Remus chirped, “Patton! Could you help me hide the body? I don’t have enough stomach acid to dissolve the whole corpse. Wait—” Remus spat out his chew toy of a pencil, carving “ass” into the remaining mulch puddle like a signature. “Hope Double Dee won’t be too heartbroken,” he muttered thoughtfully, “Eh, whatever.”
“Dear lord, you’re high as a kite.”
“High as a kite? Kites can’t go to space!” Remus babbled, doing a little theatrical twirl. “Think of what kind of aliens you can find in space! Do you think any of them have tentacles?!” Losing his balance, he stumbled into Patton slumping on his shoulder. Unbothered, Patton patiently waited for Remus to right himself whenever he wanted.
“Did you get stuck into the cookie jar again?” Patton asked casually as he wiped and flicked off various substances from his face and glasses. Doing a double take, that red better not be blood. Using blood sweat and tears isn’t ethical, they’ve talked about this!
“What? No! Of course not! Now, Puppy, why have you got a rabbit on your head and haven’t even introduced me yet?! Who’s this little handsome little fella? He looks like a George,” and Remus dissolved into a fountain of cooing while he ran his fingers through Patton’s hair. (Patton tried not to fucking moan at how good his nails felt scraping against his scalp.)
“Oh, the shrooms…” Patton sighed, “His name is Harold. Harold George—“
“The third! I remember now! How could I forget you? You’re so soft.”
Indulging Remus was Patton’s favourite hobby.
“God, you’re so soft I wanna strangle you and skin you so I can have your soft fur all to myself,” Remus ranted and Patton tried not to show fear. It wasn’t that hard, really... Mostly because he was trying even harder to choke down a begging whimper scrambling onto his tongue. Remus grabbed chunks of his hair in each fist tugging lightly. Patton reminded himself that they weren’t impulses Remus would act on and that he had these thoughts constantly just didn’t tend to share them. “But I won’t cause you’re just too cute, my little mammal brethren.”
Patton wasn’t as cute as his bunny, he thought, but he’d take the compliment.
“Hey do you want some?” Remus offered his pencil to “Harold.”
“Fine, suit yourself.” And he ate the rest like a carrot.
Shoulders slacking, Patton huffed fondly.
“I kind of wish you were like this— open— more…” Patton smoothed down Remus’s wrinkled clothes. “I hope you know you don’t need to filter everything you say,” he continued as he fixed his mussed hair with practiced hands. “It doesn’t change anything. You’re my best friend. I’ll never stop loving you, all of you. I don’t love you in spite of your so-called flaws, I love those parts of you just as much as the rest of you.”
That’s what true love means, whatever form it shall take.
Patton made a mental note to tell him that again once he came down. (Sometime, eventually…)
Remus wrapped him in a bear hug, squeezing just tight enough that he felt his ribs flex, but not painfully. “Whoa,” Remus said when he pulled back, eyes wide, “You should keep your skin on, bones and muscle isn’t a good look for you.”
“Silly Snow Bunny.”
Butterfly Kisses
April 16th, 2019.
“You know, once Thomas asked us all to say “I love you” to each other.”
Remus looked up from his sketchbook that rested on Patton’s arm looped around him. It was a typical day bundled in cat and kraken onesies respectively.
“…yeah?” He encouraged him to continue. How Patton’s pitch dropped made Remus draw suspenseful suspicions. Taking a sip of his rum, Patton prepared himself for potential embarrassment. He tapped his glass, listening to the quiet ringing it sang.
“I… I told them all that I loved them. So much. And I really meant it,” Patton said, earnestness framing his words. “I told them that I would give them all butterfly kisses,” Patton chuckled at his own stupid, emotional-ness, “which they ignored, of course.”
Remus leaned backwards into Patton’s chest, trading comfort in the currency of body heat. Peach pink lips mulling over heavy words came into view as Remus tipped his head back. He rested his head on his collarbone, and Patton’s breath rustled his hair. He listened intently— Listened closer to these next heavy words than Patton’s previous ramblings. “But—” Patton swallowed, adam’s apple bobbing, “But Logan could hardly get out the words, Roman was really reluctant, and Virgil refused to say it entirely.”
“Well, I love you,” Remus said, no hesitation.
Patton was star struck.
“R-really?”
“You’re my best friend. Of course I do,” Remus said like it was a no brainer— Since it was.
Voice muffled in his next sip, Patton softly said, “You’re my best friend, too.” He was smiling so much, and ended up biting the glass he hid behind. Mustn’t giggle and disturb the lake of quaint quiet with ripples.
“Butterfly kisses are the ones with the eyelashes, right?”
“Uh-m, yea— huh?”
In Patton’s lap, he craned his neck over his shoulder rather than swiveling around. Leaning in, warm huffs of air skating across their skin, he fluttered his eyelashes against Patton’s cheek. His nose prodded lightly at Patton’s jaw. Specks of white powder dusted onto his cheek from Remus’s fringe, which he quickly wiped off.
Patton became still and quiet as dawn. Dawn when the moon hasn’t said goodbye, and the birds haven’t said good morning yet.
“Teacup?” Remus murmured worriedly. Did he overstep a line (drawn in chalk and scrubbed away by time)? No, no— “Thomas must remember that icecream he ate yesterday, should I fetch some from the kitchen?” Remus attempted to quickly mend.
“No…” Pin drop silence squeezed between their synced inhale and exhale.
“No, jus…” Patton drifted off, setting down his half empty glass. (In second thoughts, he hoped he hadn’t drunk enough to fray or lose this memory.) His newly empty arm draped around Remus’s torso, and Remus tugged his arms close like a well worn winter coat.
“Stay…”

Heyooo! Does the gang ever have sleepovers or something! I imagine they play those creepy games, like ‘Light As Feathers Stiff As Board’ or ‘Bloody Mary! Oh! And they could do each other’s nails and makeup!
Hah, reminds me of a thing a friend told me, where they dreamed that they were Mike and having a sleepover with all the guards. Good times. Mike doesn’t get to put on nail polish. He’ll lick it off to attempt suicide. Jeremy doesn’t want any either, because he will gnaw it off. But he wants little bows and other fun hair stuff, he thinks that is fun! Polish Phone Guy’s head. It’ll last longer on there anyways and more space for cool patterns. They’ll have a lot of fun, except it will be incredibly stressful, because it’s like keeping five cats in a bag for a whole night. Mike never really sleeps, not with so many people around. The sleepover happens inside of the pizzeria, because Dave said either at HIS home or in the pizzeria and everyone agreed the pizzeria was safer- I mean, more spacious. They kept only the party lights on, and the animatronics locked up. At least until they managed to break out and a wild-goose chase started, including multiple last stands, declarations of wars and salt circles. At the end, the animatronic won the final battle of tic-tac-toe (incredibly work by Chica the mastermind) and now they were allowed inside of the sleepover too- Which meant no further swearing for everyone except Mike, who had the bitch-pass, like he always did. Ah, the benefit of being a virgin. You get to swear in front of ghosts! And capture unicorns, but we don’t let Mike near unicorns anymore after the last time resulted in the evacuation of the entire city. Back to the topic, you can rest assured that everyone WILL play the dumbest games, solely to keep Dave and Old Sport appeased. They do great things!
… LIKE REALIZING EVERYONE IS WEARING VERY STUPID SLEEPING WEAR! “Where’s ya sleepin’ stuff, Mikey?! Come on, me ‘n Sportsy brought our matching bear-bunny onesies, and you have NOTHIN’?!” “Usually I sleep fucking naked.” Old Sport grinned. “… well then, we’re waiting-“ “I can fucking break you.” The verdict of both the psychopaths was in. “Sexy!” Jeremy was way too distracted to listen to them though. “THERE ARE FREDBEAR ONESIES!? CAN I HAVE ONE!? PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE-“ Simon laid on the ground, staring at the ceiling, charging. He wouldn’t close his dial all night. “… they uh- were discontinued because the dye they used was tox-“ “WE’LL GET YA ONE, JERRY! DON’T ‘CHA WORRY!” … LIKE PLAYING SILLY PRANKS! “Phoney, help us bake! WE WANT A PIZZA!” “Uh- what do you need ME for?” “HOW NICE OF YA TO OFFER! First, please open that can of melt-cheese!” “… it’s warm.” “DON’T WORRY ABOUT THAT.” “I’m, uh- I’m not touching it. You probably have already molten the cheese inside, d-do you know how HARD it is to get that out of a phone?!” “WELP, TOO BAD, WE CARBONATED THE CHEESE BEFORE RESEALING WITH GLUE!” At that the thing exploded, coating everyone in cheese. “Worst night of my life…” Distraught Jeremy looked at them, while the other two were laughing. “O-oh man- sir, should I get I some water-“ Mike hissed. “No worries, I fucking got it.” “MIKE NO-“ With that he proceeded to touch the stove, putting it on fire and setting off the sprinklers, drenching everyone. … LIKE PLAYING STUPID GAMES! “Okay, everyfuckingone, listen up. I prepared a scavenger hunt. The reward is a fucking nifty thing, so you better work hard. It may or may not be a gun.” Excited Alice, who was gaining power with every miserable hour the guards spend, jumped around. Joining had been a good idea. Jeremy was concerned. “A- a gun…? Mike, you- you know that would be pretty dangerous-“ “DID I SAY “MAY OR MAY NOT” OR NOT?” “Geez, sorry.” “Great. So, everyone, the hints are hidden all around the restaurant and EVERYTHING could be a hint. If you tell me the right code- whatever that will be- I’ll give you a hint where the next one is. The first to find the X wins. First hint: Party hats. FUCKING READY, FUCKING SET, FUCKING GO!” Everyone rushed off, even the animatronics, leaving only Mike and Simon behind. “Did you, uh- did you really set that all up…?” “Nope.” Together they observed everyone rushing about. … AND WINNING STUPID PRICES! Everyone was cowering together in a corner, as the little Minireena pointed the dangerously dull plastic knife at them. In front of them Mike, looking like a feral animal. “YOU FUCKING CHEATED. THERE NEVER WAS AN X. THERE IS NO PRICE!” Alice tapped her chin, then giggled. Tired and confused Simon sighed. “What… what did she say…?” “That her price will be that we all design her a new dress, each of us one- or she will cut us into pieces.” “But that’s- that’s a plastic knife.” Slowly Alice’s head turned, creaking unnaturally loud for such a small machine. “… she says that’s the reason should make you way, WAY more afraid.” … LIKE WINNING THE DARWIN AWARD! Phone Guy had only left for ten minutes at most to get some ice and some non-descript carbon drink that you can’t prove is a brand name, so don’t even try to get me sued- He walked back into the main area, carefully watching his tablet so nothing would accidentally spill over, but when he looked up for a moment he almost dropped it all. Mike, Old Sport and Dave were standing together, roughly 500 rubberbands tied together, leading to two chairs that where weighted down by endo scraps. On the other side where all the animatronics, Freddy in front, Chica, Bonnie and Foxy right behind him in a line, with determined expressions on the faces. “WHAT THE EVERLOVING H-H-H-HECK IS GOING ON HERE!?” “SLINGSHOT BOWLING!” Old Sport screamed back, clearly excited. “MIKEY IS GOING TO CRUSH THESE ANIMATRONICS WITH HIS HEAD ALONE!” “ONE OF US IS GOING TO FUCKING DIE TONIGHT.” “M-MIKE! WHY DID YOU AGREE TO THIS- TO THIS- TO THIS- MADNESS!?!” “Madness…?” Old Sport started, but Mike shook his head and interrupted him. “FUCK YOU. IF I WANT TO GET SLINGSHOTTED AT MACH SPEED THROUGH THE ESTABLISHMENT I’LL DO IT. YOU’RE NOT MY FUCKING DAD!” “Don’t worry chief.” Freddy responded calmly, his eyes firmly on the other guard. “That hollow-headed guard won’t even put one scratch on us.” Frustrated that his meme had been interrupted, the Orange Man groaned. “… this is Sparta. Great. You guys ruined it.” Letting go of the slingshot, they propelled Mike forward with a speed that could kill multiple men. Depending on where they stood. … like learning how cruel and heartless war is and how nobody wins a war truly, the words of glory and bravery were lies that THEY used to capture young, innocent minds, to chew them up and spit them out without any pity for the lost and traumatized- Mike pressed his back against the wall, sweat running down his brow and his body breathing for oxygen- but he wouldn’t allow himself to pant, he couldn’t, they were listening- There were muffled sounds of pillows and flip-flops being thrown and the guard winced as he heard a cry. All he could do was pray, pray that their fort hadn’t been broken- No, he couldn’t hesitate any longer. Rushing back in, he dodged the projectiles instantly hurdled at him, before diving behind the protective walls of his pillow fort. “Status?” Hoarse he asked Phone Guy who was lying beside him, looking out of a little gap. “They’re getting more and more aggressive. Our walls will not long stand like this. Did you get the secret weapon?” Dropping a few bottles of carbonated juice and mentos, he grinned, manically. Yet still, part of Phoney’s heart hesitated. “… does it really have to come to this? Is that what is left of our humanity? We will never be able to forget this night, Mike. Neither you nor me. We will lay awake at night, thinking about this, thinking about the cries… do you want to add this to-“ With that he forcefully was grabbed by the collar and pulled closer, almost touching Mike’s nose. “You better fucking listen to me, Si. Out there-“ He pointed out. “You’ve been my boss. My chef. You told me what to do and what to say. You had some authority. But now? Now you’re a NOBODY. Now everything that matters is if you can DO what is necessary or NOT. BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT DECIDES THIS WAR, DO YOU HEAR ME?! DO YOU KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO US? HOW MUCH LONGER DO YOU WANT THIS HELL TO GO ON!? UNTIL EVERYTHING OUT THERE IS A WASTELAND?! UNTIL NOTHING IS LEFT ASIDE FROM DISPLACED PILLOWS AND THE STENCH OF DEATH!? IF YOU WON’T GIVE YOUR FUCKING GO-AHEAD, FINE. I WILL DO IT ANWAYS, I WILL SAFE US- AT WHATEVER COST THAT MAY BE!” For a second it was silent, then Phone Guy finally slowly nodded. “… okay Mike. If we-“ Interrupted by a call from another ford both of them snapped up. Orange Guy’s evil tone was already bad enough, but his words were unbearable. “GIVE UP, YOU ALL HAVE LOST! WE WARLORDS HAVE AQUIRED THE ULTIMATE WEAPON- WE HAVE SODA AND WE HAVE MENTOS. THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO GIVE UP… OR THIS WILL BE YOUR END.” Instantly Mike’s eyes widened and he sat up, hatefully hissing. “NOT SO FUCKING FAST! WE TOO HAVE MENTOS AND SODA AND WE WILL RETALIATE WITH IT ALL! IF YOU USE THIS WEAPON, NOBODY WILL BE LEFT, I SWEAR TO GOD!” Dave cried out in hatred and anguish. “MIKE! HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO US! YOU WERE THE LAST PERSON I EXPECTED TO BE A FUCKING COMMIE, HOW DARE YOU BETRAY ME-“ “WHAT THE EVERLOVING FUCK DO YOU EVEN MEAN, I’M FUCKING SERIOUS, WHO DROPPED YOU AS A BABY AND WHY DIDN’T YOU STAY DEAD-“ The war was eventually won… but at what cost? Changed my mind, them having a sleepover is a terrible idea and is illegal from now on. Never again.

Adding to that request and shamelessly asking to add how they discovered that Saki could calm Nico with her scent. Something about that is just so soft. Big strong alpha sissy smells like safety and home to fussy baby. 🦄
“mom you have nothing to worry about we will be fine.” saki whined.
“you guys haven’t been in our in almost two years. we’ve got nico. just enjoy yourselves please.” sae added, bouncing the eight month old in her arms. their parents were standing in front of them all dressed nicely, all looking a little apprehensive about leaving.
“not too much fun though one surprise baby is enough.” saya joked from the couch.
“very funny saya. even if we wanted to have another baby we can’t.” tzuyu rolled her eyes.
“her schedule is on the fridge. her food is already prepared in the pink containers in the fridge. she needs to eat all of it.” mina told saki and sae. “make sure you use the pink spoon. she eats best from the pink spoon. she’s completely transitioned from bottles to sippi cups and hers is in the fridge. we restocked diapers yesterday, but if you need anything please call us. i don’t trust your parenting instincts because i know none of you have them.”
“ka-san take a deep breath. she will be fine.” saki nodded.
“oh yeah, here’s some money for pizza. no soda though saya.” tzuyu took her wallet out and gave the money to saki.
“girls please just, be careful with her.” sana sighed.
“we will mom, now go have fun.” saki waved her parents off.
“and if you go somewhere good bring me something!” saya yelled from the couch. sae carries nico all the way to the car, knowing her parents would want to be with the baby until the last possible moment.
“bye bye sweetie. mommy loves you so much.” sana gave her a kiss on the forehead, then giving one to sae. “thanks for being such a good big sister darling.”
“bye nico. be good.” tzuyu shook nico’s tiny baby hand with a giggle. “bye sae. see you in the morning.”
“goodbye nico-chan. i love you.” mina kisses the babies free hand. “bye sae. make sure you know who doesn’t do anything dumb.”
“i know ka-san.” sae giggled and waved as her parents got into her ka-san’s car. sae used her baby sisters hand to wave as they drove away, taking nico back inside once they were gone. “let’s check your schedule huh nico?” sae giggled and went over to her ka-san’s very detailed hand written schedule for nico.
“okay 6:45 is you dinner time, 7:30 is your bath time, and 8:30 is your bedtime. i think we can manage that huh?” sae giggled at her little sister. “let’s go play with your other unnies until then okay?” nico smiled at her big sister and sae had to resist poking nico’s dimples. nico and saki both looked similar when they smiled, both inheriting their mama’s dimples and mommy’s bright infectious smile. sae had her ka-san’s gummy smile, and so did saya.
“saki can you okay with her while i start to set up her dinner?” sae asked her sister as she entered the living room. saki nodded and took the baby, grabbing a baby toy and holding it in front of her baby sister, who happily accepted it.
“she’s so weird.” saya commented.
“why?” saki asked. “babies love toys.”
“i mean she just has so many and she’s so particular about them. she only likes the plastic toys at certain times, and she only likes the stuffed ones at others. she’s like an indecisive puppy.” saya rolled her eyes.
“speaking of the dogs, can you go let them in plase?” saki asked, adjusting her baby sister on her lap. “oh and feed them?”
“yeah i guess, if it gets me out of baby duty.” saya stood up from the couch and saki took the remote from her. she turned the tv off while saya went to let the dogs in, letting nico play with her toy.
“okay i’m ready for her dinner.” sae called after a bit. saki nodded and lifted nico up, carrying her to her high chair and putting her in it.
“i’ll go order the pizza while you feed her?” saki offered.
“sure, can we just get cheese? we always argue about the toppings and i don’t want to upset nico.” sae asked.
“sure. saya will complain but she’ll get over it. food is food.” saki nodded, taking the pizza money and her phone out of her pocket.
“okay nico, open up.” sae smiled at her baby sister and moved the pink spoon towards her mouth, the spoon containing nico’s favorite mashed sweet potatoes. nico opened up and smiled at the taste.
after finishing her sweet potatoes, sae moved onto giving nico the rest of her food, which didn’t go down quiet as easily.
“come on nico please eat the peas? for sae unnie?” nico whined and slapped the peas off the the trey, causing them to land on sae’s shirt. “great.” sae looked at the mazes pea on her shirt. “saya!”
“yes- oh.” saya immediatly dissolved into laughter when she saw her sister’s shirt.
“yes very funny, can you take over while i clean up?”
“what no what if she-”
“just deal with it please saya. i want to do a good job.” sae groaned.
“fine.” saya sighed.
“thank you.” sae took the opportunity to run away and change her shirt.
saya doesn’t have any issues feeding nico, but after eating nico is a huge mess.
“oh i guess it’s your bath time. where’s sae?” saya sighed. “oh saki great!” saya sighed in relief when she saw saki. “can you get nico into the bath?”
“can you wait for the pizza to get here?” saki asked.
“sure sure.” saki nodded and handed over the money, taking the messy baby and holding her away from her clothes.
“wow your messy, come on let’s go take a super fun bath with saki unnie.” saki giggled and carried nico to the bathroom, hearing the shower running in saki’s own bathroom. sae was probably showering, saki figures, as she checked her messages for the bath instructions mina had texted them all before she left. saki put nico on the floor with the door closed while she prepared the lukewarm water.
she found nico in her hands and knees at the door, trying to crawl away.
“come here you silly.” saki nodded, picking up nico and putting her in her bathtub. thankfully nico was okay with bathes, so it went smoothly. nico was distracted by her bath toy for most of it, and saki was happy she was able to wash the baby easily. afterwards she finds sae waiting for her outside the bathroom with a fresh diaper and change of clothes.
“i’ll change her.” sae offered.
“you sure?” saki asked.
“yeah. come here nico.” sae smiled, taking her baby sister to the changing table, quickly putting her diaper on and then a pale pink bunny onesie. sae then took nico downstairs and let her play some of her bath energy off with her blocks.
while nico played the triplets all enjoyed their much needed pizza break while they read over their ka-san’s long bedtime instructions.
“is it really that hard? just put her to bed.” saya shrugged.
“i mean, your right.” saki shrugged. “oh it’s getting close to eight thirty.” saki pointed out.
“your right.” sae sighed, peaking at the baby who was still peacefully playing on her own. “can we all do bedtime? i’m worried she’s going to miss having mommy mama and ka-san.”
“yeah sure.” saki sighed. “come on saya let’s go.” the triplets all got up and sae grabbed nico as they went upstairs.
nico seemed okay as the brushed her tiny teeth and got her ready for bed but the minute they tried to lay her down she started sobbing.
“w-what’s wrong?” sae stuttered, a bit confused as to what they did wrong.
“i don’t know!” saya groaned. “go to sleep nico shh.” saya tried to sing, nico only crying more. saya picked the baby up and tried bouncing her, but nico was not having it.
“ka-san said something about her toys. i’ll check which ones she said nico was to have.” sae grabbed her phone out of her pocket and looked at the list. “dear god this is a long list. and only two of them are in her crib right now.”
“here saya give her to me. you know where most of her toys are right?” saya nodded and handed over the crying baby. saki started bouncing nico and releasing some calming pheromones, nico starting to quiet. miraculously, saki got nico to stop crying.
“what?” sae asked in disbelief.
“i think it’s my scent.” saki informed. “i think she just needed a big strong alpha’s scent like the ones she gets from mama and ka-san.”
“but she didn’t calm down in my arms.” saya pointed out.
“maybe she doesn’t like your scent.” saki rolled her eyes. “and sae’s is too faint for nico to pick up.”
“your right.” sae sighed. “you just needed saki’s calming scent huh? let’s go find all your toys so you can sleep on time and our moms don’t kill us.”
“yeah let’s go.” saki stayed behind to bounce the baby while her sister ran around trying to find all of nico’s toys. once alll her favorite stuffed animals were in her crib and saki put her to bed, nico was much better off. she fell right asleep with the lullaby of her mobile and her favorite toys around her, causing all her big sisters to sigh in relief. they all quietly snuck out and went to the upstairs living room with the baby monitor.
“i never want to have kids now.” sae sighed. “they are so much work.”
“i know.” saki sighed. “but mom mama and ka-san seem to love it so much.”
“it’s rewarding for them.” saya shurgged. “but anyway, we should be proud of them for not coming home early i’m sure they wanted to.”
“i have about twenty missed calls from mom. i’ve just been ignoring her, some seperation is healthy.” saki giggled.
“really? i have missed calls from ka-san.” sae sighed. “and even a couple from mama.”
“i guess that’s just how babies are, they are super tiring but you love them so much you can’t do anything but want to be with them constantly.”

Like Father Like Daughter
Summary: "I don't wanna!" Maddie's heart stopped as her granddaughter's annoyed, narrowed eyes flashed a brilliant glowing green at her before the girl returned her attention back to the TV. "Sweetheart, what was that?"
Rating: K+
Inspiration: It's just a plot bunny I had for a while.
Pairings: JackxMaddie, JazzxOC, DannyxWhoever. I had a specific ship in mind, but I left it purposefully vague so you can picture him as being with whichever DP lady you'd like.
Warnings: Contains fanchild OCs for JazzxOC and DannyxWhoever
Other Notes: It’s originally on AO3, along with a second chapter that I’ll post at another time, but I wanna go ahead and just begin crossposting some stuff. I’m planning a companion piece of sorts to this so might as well spam it everywhere I can.
Other Notes: I'm not really all that good with kids. Dawn's age is just kind of vague, but she's not in school yet. Probably around 4ish? I think you start kindergarten at 5. But also to be specifically clear, Danny's wife in this fanfiction DOES know his secret.
Maddie heard the child making car noises to herself as she moved the toy car along the carpet. She smiled, glancing up from the invention she was tinkering with, a relatively harmless little gadget, just a new and improved version of a ghost detector, to see Dawn crawling a bit on her knees to reach another toy from the toy box in the living room. She opened the lid, reaching deep inside.
"What are you getting into, sunshine?" Maddie teasingly asked. The little girl glanced behind her to flash a grin at her grandmother, black hair sticking out every which way. This was despite the girl's mother having dropped her off earlier with her hair pulled back in a neat ponytail. She still had the ponytail, but her hair just seemed to want to constantly stand up on end in a permanent cow lick.
"Vroom vroom," she replied, and she held up a toy airplane that she had retrieved.
She sunk to her knees again, making soft engine noises to herself as she 'drove' the plane around on the floor. Maddie smiled, and she began to eagerly screw the last bit of the ghost gadget together before standing up. She moved to put it on a shelf, out of reach of curious little hands. The invention was essentially done anyway, just in need of some testing, which would wait. Maddie sat down on the floor.
Dawn's bright eyes lit up in excitement, and she eagerly made the plane take off, hurriedly crawling towards her grandmother. Maddie opened her arms and allowed for the girl to 'crash' into her in an explosion of giggles, happily settling in on her lap.
"Uh oh, crash landing," Maddie told her, and she picked up a fire truck. "Here comes the fire department to help!"
"Grandpa would help!" Dawn added, and she wiggled to grab another toy car, one Jack had made of the Fenton Family Ghost Assault Vehicle. Maddie smiled.
"Yup, grandpa would come to make sure ghosts didn't crash the plane," Maddie replied. Dawn wiggled out of her lap and onto the floor, reaching to grab another car to come assist with the plane crash. The home was pleasantly silent as the two played.
Wednesday mornings were a special time for Maddie, where she got to be alone with Dawn, and she cherished them. On Wednesday mornings, Maddie would never understand quite how it even began, Jack would go golfing with Vlad before picking up their youngest grandson from morning kindergarten, who would join them until the other grandsons trickled in from their various after school activities. The Fenton grandparents often had a full house until their children came to pick up the grandkids. Dawn wasn't due to be enrolled in school until next year, nor eligible for any activities just yet. Had he been home, the Jack would be on the floor with her and Dawn, playing with their only granddaughter and Danny's only child.
Maddie gave a small chuckle to herself at Jazz's brief jealousy when Danny and his wife found out that they were having a little girl. Jazz had five very energetic boys, and Maddie knew this energy had no limits first-handed. One of the best perks of working from home was the luxury of being able to spend a lot of quality time with her children growing up, and now, she got to watch her grandchildren grow up first hand. Well, Jazz's boys anyway.
"Mom, I'm just not sure," Danny had said defensively. He seemed uncomfortable with the idea Maddie had proposed.
"She wants to go back to work in the future, and we already keep the boys," Maddie replied with a frown. "Danny, it's not any problem to leave Dawn with us while you two work. We don't mind."
"It's not that," Danny was so hesitant. Her son was resting in his living room, laying down on the couch, a four month old Dawn sleeping happily on his chest while Maddie sat in the armchair nearby. "I-I-I, just, you know. It may not be safe for her. You and dad are so active in the lab, what if you accidentally spill something on her?"
Maddie tried to not take it too personally. She remembered life as a first time parent. Danny had already grown incredibly overprotective of his little girl. Even now, he kept a protective hand on Dawn's back to keep her in place, as if the infant was going to suddenly float away.
"We wash our hands religiously, and what would it matter anyway? She's human, even if, somehow, something got onto her, she'd be perfectly fine. Any and all chemicals and liquids and gadgets we have only target and harm ghosts," Maddie lightly argued. Danny flinched, and she noticed that Danny's hand gripped Dawn's onesie, anxiously. "Danny we'd never let her into the lab anyway, and we've been keeping everything down there anyway. You know how nosy the boys are. They get into everything."
"Uh...just...let me think about it. And we both have to talk about it, ya know?"
Maddie shook her head, giving a light eyeroll at the memory. Danny was so overprotective of Dawn. It was endearing, but honestly. She dreaded to see him when Dawn became a teenager. It had taken nearly two years, much convincing and a lot of promises before Danny and his wife caved, allowing Grandpa and Grandma Fenton to keep Dawn while her parents went to work during the day. It hurt a little that Danny seemed so hesitant to let his own parents keep Dawn, especially when there was not nearly as much of a fuss when the other side of Dawn's family got to see and keep her. Jack had assured her that Danny was just worried because they had such a dangerous profession, while Danny's in-laws had a much more relaxed job. Maddie had agreed, despite her heart and gut telling her it was something else.
She forced herself to put aside those thoughts as she noticed Dawn going to grab another toy from the box, this time a spaceship toy. The girl seemed to take intense fascination over it, and she sat down next to the toy box to intensely inspect the toy. It was a new addition to the toy box, Danny's when he was a kid, and Maddie gave a soft smile. She was definitely Danny's little girl.
From the couch, Maddie heard a familiar text tone. She reached out to grab her cellphone with her fingertips, pulling it closer to view the message that she was already so accustomed to getting. A message from Danny, on his lunch break, asking her how Dawn was doing. Could her son be more over-protective?
Sure enough, there it was. Hey mom, love you. How's Dawn? Maddie rolled her eyes, and she sent back the same old, same old text. Hey sweetie, Dawn's doing good. Love you too, have a good day.
She put her phone on the coffee table, glancing at Dawn.
"Your daddy's silly," she informed her, earning giggles from Dawn.
"Daddy fell out of a tree yesterday," Dawn told her. Maddie frowned. This never came up in conversation with Danny.
"Is he okay?" Dawn stared blankly at her. "Did Daddy get hurt?"
"No," she replied. "He missed the ground."
Maddie thought little of the statement. Dawn often said odd things. She brought it up to Jazz, who was quick to say that sometimes kids just said weird stuff that didn't make sense. Dawn's mother defended the words. Maddie had a few memories of Jazz and Danny saying odd things, as well as some of their childhood playmates, and so she brushed it off. Dawn had quite the active imagination as it stood.
She spoke often of a ghost that haunted their home, describing her as a white haired ghost that was Danny Phantom's cloned cousin. Whenever Maddie or Jack showed discomfort, Dawn was always quick to clarify that she was a good ghost, and that she played fun games with Dawn. There was also a ghost puppy that Dawn often spoke of that protected her when she felt scared by becoming a huge dog like Clifford the big red dog only he was green, as well as a giant white, fuzzy ghost with a really, really cold ice hand that often made it snow just for her. There was a pretty princess ghost that turned into a dragon that would take her and her dad on magical trips to really, really old timey-times and who let her be a princess for a day once, trying on her crown and letting her sit in the royal chair. Another fuzzy ghost, this time black that she couldn't quite understand, but who was always very sweet to her and let her pet him. Dawn often reported that he was soft, and while he had sharp claws, he had never cut her, not even on accident.
Danny and his wife insisted it was the overactive imagination, and the grandparents soon agreed. A very active, if odd, imagination. It worried Maddie that Dawn seemed to think so positively of ghosts.
"Why was he in a tree?" she asked. Dawn giggled.
"Hiding from Mommy!" Maddie let out a small chuckle herself. That sounded about right. She glanced at the clock. 11:20am.
"Crash Nebula will be on in ten minutes," Maddie told her. "If you'd like to watch it, you need to pick up the toys you played with today."
Dawn's nose scrunched up, lower lip sticking out in annoyance at the idea of cleaning up, the expression being almost an identical mirror to Danny when he was her age. She looked around at all the toys she had dragged out over the course of the morning.
"I don't wanna," she whined.
"Too bad," Maddie's voice became firm. "If you'd like to switch activities, you have to clean up from your last one."
"Can I do it after?" Her lower lip stuck out further, and Dawn's eyes grew sad. A puppy dog attack, and Maddie gave a small smile.
"Then it'll never get done," she replied, tone light. She was used to the age old game of dealing with kids, and she stood up. "I'm going to go to the lab to put my own activity away." Maddie gestured to the invention she had put on the shelf. "When I come back, I expect to see all the toys put away."
Maddie picked up her invention, and she went down into the lab, closing the door behind her to prevent Dawn from wandering down. She began to put away the tools she had brought upstairs with her, as well as the invention in a proper place. Maddie picked up an ecto-gun Jack had been working on earlier, examining it to see the progress. She'd love to bring it upstairs and show Dawn, but she knew Danny would lose his mind. He had been very insistent on Dawn staying out of the lab, her daughter-in-law too.
She'd never understand that. Jazz's boys came into the lab regularly, with Jack or Maddie supervising of course. The boys had even helped with simple invention tweaking and tinkering. The Fenton grandparents even had the absolute cutest photo that Danny, ironically, had taken of Jazz's oldest mimicking Jack exactly. Jack was working on the Specter Speeder, using a wrench to tighten a bolt, and his oldest grandson was using a plastic toy wrench on his toy Specter Speeder (again, another toy Jack had created for the grandkids).
Maddie was a bit heartbroken that Danny wanted to deny Dawn the precious gift of science, engineering and family ghost hunting secrets that she and Jack had to offer. Her daughter-in-law seemed conflicted, wanting Dawn to have the experiences but also heavily mirroring Danny's worries, incredibly concerned when Jack had initially brought up that he was going to get the simple blueprints together to begin a small ghost tracker building project with Dawn, just like he had with all of Jazz's boys. Nothing they hadn't done before with a grandchild. But it freaked the parents out.
She sighed. Maybe when Dawn was a bit older. Or maybe at the next family dinner, she'd bring it up to Danny. There was nothing in the lab for him to be afraid of Dawn getting. Everything down there effected ghosts, and only ghosts. Anything that would be harmful to a human, such as some of the chemicals and gasses needed for some of the more biological side of ghost hunting and testing, was always locked away under key in a cabinet. Always had, always was. No exceptions. It was a safety rule Jack and Maddie took seriously.
Hell, Danny himself grew up practically being an active participant in the lab. Yes, as he hit his teen years, some of the inventions began to target him. They were just glitches in the system, and they only ever targeted their son. Maybe he was afraid of a similar malfunction? But he was never in any true danger. The inventions, the lab, the OP center, it'd only harm ghosts. Danny knew this by heart.
Perhaps if she could get Dawn excited about it, Danny would cave. He did nearly anything and everything to make his special little sunshine happy. Maddie clearly remembered her son swearing up and down a storm as he struggled to put a background playground set of sorts together (with Ryuu, Jazz's husband, and Tucker's eventual help). Dawn was always so eager to play helper whenever Jack or Maddie needed a hand repairing the kitchen sink or the TV, an electronic toy or the Fenton RV. With her imagination focused on ghosts and the interest in repairing, she had the Fenton ghost hunting spirit in her. Maddie could just feel it.
The idea cheered her up, and Maddie finished tidying up before going upstairs to check on Dawn. She heard the TV playing, the familiar cartoon theme song playing. She entered the living room, frowning.
"Dawn," Maddie scolded, putting her hands on her hips. Dawn glanced over her shoulder at her grandmother in annoyance, scowling. "I thought I asked you to put away the toys before you began watching TV?"
"I don't wanna!" Maddie's heart stopped as her granddaughter's annoyed, narrowed eyes flashed a brilliant glowing green at her before the girl returned her attention back to the TV.
"Sweetheart, what was that?"
Dawn's head snapped towards her with wide, thankfully baby blue, eyes. Maddie wondered if her eyes were playing tricks on her. She was getting a bit up there in age-no. No. She knew what she saw.
"What?" Dawn asked.
"Your eyes," Maddie said. Her entire demeanor shifted, and she was puzzled. Dawn looked guilty, as if she was caught stealing some of Jack's fudge (again).
"I'm watching Crash Nebula," was all Dawn said, and she turned her attention to the TV. Maddie shook herself out of her shock. Eye color change or not, Dawn still did not do as asked. Maddie strolled over to the TV, pressing the power button. Dawn's eyes grew wide. "Grandma!"
"Dawn, I asked you to pick up the toys ten minutes ago," Maddie reminded her. Dawn's eyes narrowed at her, giving an angry grumble. Maddie's heart skipped a beat as the girl's eyes flashed green again in her frustration. The look on her face was so familiar, but it wasn't an expression she ever remembered Danny giving her. It was eerily familiar yet not.
"I wanna watch Crash Nebula!" she argued. Maddie frowned.
"You may watch it after you clean up," she told her. Dawn's face scrunched up again, and her lower lip trembled. Maddie gave a soft sigh, anticipating the temper tantrum to follow.
As expected, the ghost hunter soon had an angry, tearful grandchild laying on the floor face down, screaming and crying. Maddie paid it no attention, simply sitting on the couch and waiting. Surprisingly, Jazz was the one almost infamous for her temper tantrums, and Maddie always found that letting it pass worked best. She sat back, watching Dawn cry and kick her legs angrily at the air. Her hands were clenched in fists, but she held them still as she bawled. Maddie squinted. Was...she glowing?
Dawn was. She had a faint glow to her, and Maddie sat up straighter, leaning in. Was it a glow, or was it just the lighting? She did have the curtains open wide to let in light. Maddie couldn't tell, and she stood up to walk over. Dawn had calmed down by now, and there was no glow, assuming one had been present to begin with. The girl simply laid on the ground now, sniffling unhappily.
"Are you finished?" Maddie asked. Dawn just nodded. "Are you ready to pick up your toys?" Dawn shook her head no. "Then I think it's time out time." Dawn's lower lip trembled, and more tears poured. Maddie used her hand to lightly nudge her into standing up, which Dawn did very slowly and reluctantly.
Maddie gestured to the small step stool in the corner that had been unceremoniously placed there years ago when the first grandchild temper tantrum had happened, and never removed. Dawn dragged herself over to it, and as soon as she sat down, she began to cry again. Maddie sighed sympathetically. She hated punishing any of the grandkids.
"I'm going to go get started on lunch," she told Dawn. Dawn sniffled, giving a nod. Maddie stole a glance as she went to the kitchen.
From her spot at the counter, she could see Dawn. The girl was sitting still, sniffling and beginning to get upset hiccups. Lunch was just going to be a simple sandwich and chips, and Maddie broke out the needed ingredients, keeping Dawn within eye and earshot. She tore her eyes away from Dawn for less than a second, to assure she was scraping jelly properly from the jar, but she froze when she saw...an empty step stool.
"Dawn?" Maddie called out, both as a warning but also initial panic beginning to set in.
"Yes?" her voice came from the living room. It sounded like she was still in the corner, but Maddie didn't see her.
"Dawn, where are you?"
"I'm sitting!"
Maddie frowned.
"I don't see you!"
"I'm sitting!" the voice was desperate and whining, louder and more insistent.
"Where are you sitting?" Maddie asked. She tried to keep her voice calm and level, but inside, she was angry and confused. Where was she?
"On the stool!" Dawn insisted.
Maddie's eyes scanned for any signs that Dawn had gotten up and moved. Her eyes drifted over to the couch and chair, and they went back to the stool. She jumped when she saw a familiar, teary-eyed girl sitting on the stool. She put her hand to her chest. Her heart was going crazy. Maddie knew for a fact that Dawn was not sitting in the stool a few moments ago.
"Honey, what happened?" Maddie tried to keep the accusatory tone out of her voice, and she did, but she knew she sounded a bit panicked.
"I didn't move!" Dawn cried out, lower lip trembling.
Dawn was never a liar. She was almost honest to a fault, and she had never, to Maddie's knowledge anyway, lied to her before. She was a good kid, a very sweet kid. Maddie didn't know what to believe. She knew she didn't see Dawn just a moment ago. She was almost afraid to leave Dawn alone in the living room again.
"Sunshine, why don't you come help me finish making lunch?" she asked. Dawn seemed to brighten up at the idea of leaving time out early.
"Okay!" she agreed, and the girl's sour mood seemed to lift.
Maddie kept a close eye on Dawn, but nothing else happened. As normal, lunch was served and ate. As normal, Dawn offered to help clean up. As normal, Maddie got the message that Jack had finished his golf game (having lost by a long shot but as normal, he had fun hanging out with his best friend and was on his way home soon with Dawn's cousin). It was too normal now, and Maddie couldn't help but wonder what happened in the living room.
After cleaning up from lunch, Dawn was finally willing to pick up and put away the toys.
"Do you want to watch Crash Nebula on Netflix now?" Maddie offered, and Dawn's eyes lit up, thankfully still blue.
"Yes please!" she chirped, and Maddie handed her the remote. She already knew how to work Netflix, and within moments, Dawn found the familiar icon of her favorite show and began an episode. Maddie smiled, leaning over to kiss her temple, earning a small giggle.
"Grandma's going to go get something from the lab real quick," Maddie spoke up. Dawn just nodded in response, already engrossed in her activity.
Maddie disappeared down into the lab, heart and head pounding anxiously as she tried to process what exactly happened. She knew Dawn was there. But then she wasn't. Of course, it would be logical to just assume that her granddaughter had gotten up and out of time out. Kids did that all the time. But to disappear from view and return as quickly and suddenly as she had...Maddie wasn't buying it.
She shook her head, picking up the detector she had been working on earlier, also plucking a few small tools before bringing it upstairs with her. Maddie didn't want to be blind to the obvious. Her granddaughter simply had discovered lying and was doing so to do. She couldn't get caught up in the nonsensical details.
Maddie returned to see her granddaughter in the exact same spot on the floor as she had left, eyes glued to the TV.
She settled into her seat, glancing at the clock. Jack would be home in less than a half hour or so. Maddie hummed lightly to herself, turning on the invention to begin testing. The display lit up, and it began to slowly load. Soon, the main menu popped up, and Maddie began to fiddle with the options and controls she had programmed. For now, she just wanted to assure that the controls worked at the basic level, that the options all showed up and that the settings could be adjusted, that the screens lit up and that the mapping system worked as needed.
She frowned as she noticed that it was detecting a nearby ghost, as indicated by the dark green outline that was designed to alert if a ghost was within a selected radius, the default being a ten foot. Was it glitching already? How could a ghost be nearby without her noticing?
Curiosity caused her to go into an option that gave the exact location of the ghost in question. The device should be able to scan a ghost and read their ectoplasmic signature, which would give the quick answers one would need if a ghost was nearby. Was it safe, how dangerous, who was it, etc.
Her heart froze, and she sat up straight as it told her a ghost was very, very close to her, barely three feet away. Which meant it was close to her granddaughter. It had to be a malfunction. It couldn't be within three feet of her without her noticing. Maddie went to check the information the device picked up on the supposed ghost.
Name: Unknown
Age: Unknown, est existence: 1wk
Pwr lvl: ERROR 412
Misc: ERROR 412
Maddie's breath caught in her throat. Error 412 simply meant that there was a lack of ectoplasmic sampling to get a proper reading. But with a ghost supposedly so close? She was on high alert, and she put her hand on her hip, where an ectogun was always there, just in case. As well as the Fenton lipstick. With one hand searching for the exact pinpointed location, she stared at it in disbelief as it told her that the ghost was two point six feet in front of her, sitting in the same spot as her granddaughter.
"Dawn?" Maddie spoke up, voice almost trembling a bit in worry. Dawn scowled, twisting to look at her, and for what felt like the hundredth time that day, Maddie's heart skipped a beat.
"What!?" came the cranky voice of her granddaughter, who was glaring at her with annoyed, bright green and glowing eyes. Maddie recognized the scowl. It was the same kind of scowl and glare she saw Phantom wear all the time towards her, and those eyes were a perfectly replica of his.

Jealousy // The Boyz
genre: fluff/jealousy
word count: about 450 per member
pairing: Sangyeon x reader, Jacob x reader, Hwall x reader, Sunwoo x reader
summary: the members start to get jealous when you’re around another member
Tumblr media
Sangyeon
You’ve never seen Sangyeon extremely upset over anything. At most, you’ve seen him get frustrated with the younger boys, but never anything less than jokes. He took especially good care of the younger boys, making sure their voices were heard amongst the older members. Thus, you found it somewhat weird when he would continuously push Eric out of the discussion. It started about a week ago when you were first introduced to the rest of the boys, and Eric was the first one to introduce himself. From then on, your bond with Eric continued, but so did Sangyeon’s jealousy. Sangyeon would always see you either running around the park or playing baseball together. You and Eric started to have multiple inside jokes. You would both often tease Sangyeon about how old he was, or that he wouldn’t understand because he’s old. Although Sangyeon’s humor could most often match Eric’s, he knew that Eric’s overwhelmingly positive attitude was surpassable. Also, Eric had one quality that Sangyeon didn’t, which was his age. Eric’s excitement always spread to everyone, especially you. Sangyeon, although being the older one, didn’t want to admit his silly feelings of jealousy to you. Thus, he would sometimes choose to ignore Eric or not give him attention. From that day, Eric would often come to you saying that Sangyeon doesn’t like him anymore and that he wonders what he did wrong. Concerned for both of the boys, you would confront Sangyeon. When he’d open his door, he would know exactly what you wanted to talk about, and he would let you in wordlessly. You’d both sit down on his bed, and he’d put his hands on his knees, pursing his lips together to ready himself to admit his jealousy.
Sangyeon: “You don’t need to tell me, Y/N… I know what this is about. Eric will always be like my little brother to me, but I just knew that he would take you away from me… It’s not even that big of a deal, but… you’re a big deal to me.”
He’d let out a long sigh as he let the truth out, but you got closer and rubbed his knee.
Y/N: “Eric is like my little brother too, Sangyeon. We’re close, but that doesn’t mean in the slightest that I’m going to leave you.”
Sangyeon would let out a chuckle, and reach up to rub the top of your head.
Sangyeon: “Oh, Y/N… you’re truly such an angel.”
Tumblr media
Jacob
Jacob was always the one who would think of others before him, thus he always treated you with the utmost respect and love. He was always careful of how you were. Even when you were pushed the slightest bit, he’d ask if you were okay or if you were hurt. Thus, when he saw you and Juyeon getting close over time, he would continuously be protective of you and slightly jealous. Juyeon would always tease you and mess with you. During dance practices, Juyeon would always push you or try to trip you when learning the dance, and you would both laugh about it and try to get each other back. Juyeon would also sometimes lift you or toss you around, saying you were like a little puppy. Jacob always thought it was too much, but his feelings only increased when Juyeon invited you to play basketball with him. Jacob knew that Juyeon would push you around even more, but it would be more dangerous because you could get seriously hurt with the basketball. Thus, Jacob would always try to come along to play basketball as well. Whenever Juyeon would try to pass you the ball, Jacob would steal it away and score the point himself. It began to annoy you more and more because it felt like you were no longer playing and Jacob just wanted to show off. Eventually, you felt very defeated and exhausted trying to get around Jacob, so you simply left without saying a word. When Jacob came back from a water break, he would ask Juyeon where you went. Juyeon would tell Jacob directly that you were annoyed with him, and that you didn’t want to play with him anymore. Realizing his mistake, Jacob would run home and catch your wrist right as you were getting into the dorm.
Jacob: “Y/N, I’m so so so sorry. I didn’t want to make you feel annoyed or left out or anything like that. I-I just… I felt like Juyeon was being too aggressive with you! I didn’t want him to hurt you or hold you or anything! I always get so worried about you…”
Y/N: “I’m not going to get hurt, Jacob! Juyeon wouldn’t hurt me intentionally, and we only do that playfully. Please, don’t get worried, Jacob. I can take care of myself; you know that.” You replied, trying to pull back your hand, but Jacob wouldn’t let go. He would hold on and hug you, rubbing your shoulders until you eventually held on to him as well.
Jacob: “You’re right, you’re right… I’m really sorry, Y/N. I promise that I’ll trust you more. Just smile for me again.”
Tumblr media
Hwall
Hwall would be really proud of himself to even know someone as amazing as you. Thus, he would try his hardest to continue to impress you at every chance he had. He’d try to show you his modern dancing, his rapping skills, his singing abilities, and would even help you choose outfits to wear. However, no matter how hard he tried, he felt that he was always in competition with the person he looked up to the most: Hyunjae. Hyunjae would always come in during your conversations with Hwall, or he would knock on Hwall’s door to ask him where you were to see if you could hang out. Hwall would get pretty jealous and competitive over you. Although he respected Hyunjae a lot, Hwall couldn’t not get upset whenever Hyunjae would ask what he could cook for you for dinner or if he could hold the groceries for you. Thus, Hwall would always try to butt into your conversations with Hyunjae, asking if you needed help with singing or if you could be in his selca. Hyunjae wouldn’t understand Hwall’s unnecessary need to outdo him, even pointing it out in front of him teasingly. However, Hwall didn’t want to confront his own feelings, and would try to play it off as his normal behavior. His front for his “normal” behavior quickly vanished when Hyunjae invited you to be in his V Live interview. When Hyunjae would first start up the live, he would put up bunny ears behind you and talk about how the fans thought you were really cute. Unable to sit on the sides, Hwall would suddenly interrupt the live and sit right next to you, putting a protective arm around you to pull you away from Hyunjae. Hyunjae could obviously tell that Hwall was trying to get in his interview, thus he would tease him and tell him that he is taking you away from the fans like a clingy baby. With Hwall’s feelings suddenly announced to both you and the fans, Hwall created a fake excuse for needing to leave and would run out the door. Hyunjae, realizing that his words hurt Hwall’s feelings would try to finish the interview quickly so you could both talk to him. You and Hyunjae would knock on Hwall’s door to apologize and understand what was wrong. Hwall would say he forgave Hyunjae, but that he’d want to talk privately with you. As Hyunjae walked away, Hwall would open the door for you, his eyes behind his glasses slightly red.
Hwall: “I’m not a child, Y/N. But… Even though I feel like I can never compete with Hyunjae, I still want to be the person who can always amaze you.” Hwall would sit with his arms over his knees but would reach out to have your fingers interlocked with one another.
Y/N: “You don’t need to continue to impress me, Hwall. You always do! Every day, I learn something more about you.” Hwall would blush and push his glasses up, pulling you close to him to sit side by side.
Hwall: “Well… If that’s what you think, Y/N. Then that makes me happy.”

Sunwoo
Sunwoo was definitely the jealous type. However, he was also the type who tried to keep his cool whenever possible. Thus, he made an obvious point to always sit next to you, to let you have first pick of where to get food, and to tell everyone else to shut up to hear what you had to say. It was easy for him to yell at the other members when they were spending too much time with you, but he could never sincerely get mad at Q. Q was near total opposite of Sunwoo. He was always known for his cute charms and his adorable awkwardness. Thus, when he saw Q playing with your hair and teaching you silly aegyo moves, Sunwoo knew that he couldn’t do any of those things. So, he did the one thing that he could do, which was to simply take you for himself. He would always move in between you and Q whenever possible and even distract Q so he could have you. For a while, you thought Sunwoo was doing it just to be funny, so you didn’t see it as a big deal. Thus, when Q suggested you both watch a horror movie together, you thought it would be great to see Sunwoo’s expression when he got scared. You and Q would be in your onesies sitting on the couch watching The Conjuring at night. You would get easily spooked, so Q would lend you his arm to hold on to. Sunwoo, instantly jealous, would plop himself right in between both of you; only to realize what movie you were watching. During the movie, he would try to stay composed and keep an arm around you, but he always ended up screaming really loudly or trying to convince you to not watch anymore. Once the movie was over, Sunwoo would leap up immediately and drag you to your feet to bring you to his room without saying goodnight to Q. You would immediately shoot him a look when he closed his door, and he would sigh and lean against the wall, crossing his arms.
Sunwoo: “You can’t hang out with Q anymore, okay? I don’t think he’s treating you well and I don’t want you to be friends with him.”
Y/N: “What? That’s so hypocritical of you! You were being rude and unfair to Q whenever we would hang out. What’s wrong with you? I can’t have my own friends?” You would huff, pushing him out of the way to go back to your room. However, the door would shut as soon as you opened it, your back suddenly pressed against the wall as Sunwoo held onto your shoulders.
Sunwoo: “I’m just… jealous, Y/N. Please don’t be mad at me… I’m sorry.”

Sweet home. (Part 1/?)
Summary: basically touken parent fic with their 5 year old daughter mai, but kaneki struggling to find the time to spend with his family. Just some domestic touken life overflowing with fluff. Multific...possibly..
Notes: so uh idk if I should make this a Multific or not, but considering how many hcs I've wrote or atleast thought of, I might as well make it a fic. Please share feedback if you actually want more and enjoy~
Touka opened the door slowly and quietly, narrowing her eyes as she peered into the dim study room. She crept in, her footsteps light and tiptoed closer to the desk in the centre of the room, stepping around it and kneeled around the corner. She could already hear the muffled giggles of a little girl hiding in the small space beneath the desk.
“Found you!” Touka yelled, poking her head into the small space and her five year old child shrieked excitedly with bubbling laughter.
“You scared me, mama.” Mai giggled and flung out her arms for touka to pick her up. Touka carefully pulled her out from under the desk and rested Mai on her hip, pinching her nose.
“That’s the point, silly.”
She carried Mai back into the living room, sitting her down on one of the plush seats to change her into her pajamas. In the light, you could see that Mai looked remarkably like touka, with dark, straight purple hair, her button nose and big, round eyes. However, what she shared with her father was his face, even with the chubby cheeks, and his beautiful grey eyes. Touka buttoned up Mai’s bunny onesie but her face was lowered slightly, nibbling her thumb in her mouth.
“Don’t suck your thumb.” Touka scolded. “What’s wrong, mai?”
“I…” She hesitated and her body rocked back and forth a little. “I miss daddy.”
Mai looked up, her eyes wide yet filled with an undeniable sadness, like a puppy begging for food. Touka smiled solemnly and ruffled her child’s hair and brought her in to a tight squeeze. It was a shame kaneki was always so busy with his duties and that by the time he would return, mai would already be deep in sleep before kaneki could read her a bed time story. It upset him as much as it did for touka and their daughter. There simply wasn’t enough hours in the day.
“He’ll be back soon.” Touka told Mai, pulling back and pushed back her small bangs. “But before then, shall we watch a movie? A girls night, just you and me.”
Mai’s face lit up, an excited grin spread across her chubby face with her nodding frantically at the idea. Touka sighed once the small kid rushed off to pick a film and sank into her seat, checking her phone to see if kaneki had messaged her with any update of a hopeful return. Nothing.
It wasn’t as if touka could blame kaneki, he was the king after all and everyone looked onto him for answers whilst the pressures of making the right decision always wore him down daily until he was nothing but a tired mess at the end of the day. She knew this, yet she so selfishly wanted him to herself, to spend her days domestically engrossd with her husband, to see him spend more time with mai as she worked in the cafe, to just know that he’s always there by their sides. After all this time, he had finally returned to her only for him to be distracted by other things.
All the while, she knew it wasn’t fair to pin the blame on him or anyone else, knowing that at the end of the day, all she was feeling was loneliness. It wouldn’t hurt taking a day off from being a mother though, but she wouldn’t complain. No, she will keep these hardships to herself, for kaneki and mai, to keep them happy at the expense of her own desires. It would be worth it in the end. Or atleast, that’s what she kept telling herself.
Mai returned, waddling back into the room with a dvd in hand which touka put on whilst she tucked mai onto the sofa with a fluffy, bunny themed blanket, tickling her as she did before going off to make a coffee for herself and hot chocolate for mai. They watched the movie, cuddled in the dark and hot drinks in their hands but it seemed a wave of fatigue hit touka as it didn’t take long before she fell asleep with mai only slightly drifting off. However, mai woke up when she heard touka’s phone ringing, but since her mother was asleep, she thought it’d be best if she answered it herself. And that’s exactly what she did.
“It’s late, I know.” Mai heard her father say. “Touka-chan, I’m sorry-”
“Daddy?” Mai’s voice lit up, clinging onto the phone tightly at the sound of her dad’s voice. “Daddy, where are you?”
“Mai? I’m- wait, where’s your mother?”
“She’s asleep.” Mai whispered loudly, glancing back to her sleeping mum. “We were watching a movie and she made me hot chocolate and then-” she paused when touka shifted slightly and her mouth hung wide open as she snored quietly. “When are you coming home, daddy?”
“Soon, I’m coming home now. It’s past your bed time, you know.” He chuckled over the phone. “But I guess I can make an exception. Just continue watching the movie before I get back. Can you do that for me, sweetie?”
“Yep.” She nodded quickly. “Love you, daddy.”
“Love you too, mai.”
Kaneki hung up the phone, staring down at it for a short moment, deep in thought; Touka was asleep - she was probably exhausted again, like she is every day because of work and taking care of their daughter and kaneki couldn’t even justify himself for not being there for them. She’s been overworking and yet he wasn’t there to support her. What kind of husband and father was he if he couldn’t even do such a simple thing like spending more time with them?
Frustrated, he shoved his phone into his coat jacket and shuffled between the crowd of people on the train he was on to the doors, awaiting his stop that was coming up. He will make it up to them, he promised himself, his hand unconsciously moving up towards the ring necklace he continued to wear around his neck.
He opened the door as quietly as he could to their dark apartment, the TV blared brightly in the living room with a loud, musical song that was playing from the movie. As he shut the door, he heard mai squeal delightfully, running towards kaneki with arms wide open. Kaneki kneeled and mai ran right into him, clutching onto him tightly as she started to ramble about her day. Kaneki picked her up after he took off his coat and bag, a wide smile on his face with mai continuing with her endless story. She certainly was a passionate speaker, something he was sure she got from touka’s side as well as her looks. He was glad she turned put so much like her mother.
“Hush, mai.” Kaneki said. “Mama is still asleep.”
“Sorry.” She giggled, putting a finger on her lips. They walked over to where touka was on the couch, one arm hanging off and the other sprawled across her face. “She’s like sleeping beauty.”
“You’re right.” Kaneki picked up a blanket and placed it over touka. “A sleeping beauty. Now, kiddo, let’s get you to bed. Your definitely tired and I promised you a bed time story.”
Mai clapped her hands and kaneki carried her into her bright pink room that was decorated with more than a few bunnies. He tucked mai into her small bed, handing her the plush rabbit that she always slept with and sat besides her, picking up the book she had chosen for him to read earlier on during the day. Like him as a child, mai was certainly a vivid reader, her interests in books starting early on to even now and even though she was already remarkably capable with reading on her age, she still continued asking her parents to read to her at night, something kaneki wasn’t going to complain about.
He read the story, just like he had done before with hinami when she was younger, his soft voice soothing his daughter to sleep and with a gentle smile, his kissed her head and turned off the bedroom light, leaving the room and back to where touka was sleeping.
She stirred slightly in her sleep, reaching out slightly for something or someone before she clutched the blanket instead and wrapped it tighter around herself, frowning with a small pout. She certainly was cute in her sleep, kaneki standing besides her with an almost apologetic look upon seeing her so tired. He brushed part of her hair away and leaned down for a kiss, whispering a small sorry in her ear before he gathered her up in his arms and carried her to their room, laying her down on their bed. However, just as he was about to leave, he heard touka call out his name quietly in the dark.
“Kaneki? Is that you?” She sat up, rubbing her tired eyes. “What time-”
“It’s ok, touka-chan.” He walked over and caressed her cheek. “Go back to sleep.”
“But…” She rested her hand over his.
“What is it? I already put mai to sleep, you don’t need to worry about that.”
“No its just,” she hesitated some more before she spoke. “I just missed you, that’s all.”
Kaneki felt the harsh jab of guilt in his chest, wincing at her words at the idea of how many hours she must have spent just waiting to see his face again. He leaned down and kissed her lightly on the lips and continued to rest his forehead against hers in a comfortable silence before he pulled back again, taking a seat on the bed.
“I’m sorry.” He said once again. “I’ll make it up to you.”
She laid back down against her pillow, letting out an annoyed huff and took his hand into hers, looking down at their joined hands and pressed her lips together.
“But when will that be?” She asked, staring directly at him this time. He turned his head away, not exactly sure if there was even an answer to that question. “I know you don’t mean to always be this busy and it’s selfish of me, but we need you as well.”
Kaneki is silent for a while and he knew what she said was exactly right. All he ever did was say promises he knew he couldn’t keep and at the end of day, all he was doing was hurt the woman he loved. Always hurting her.
“Look,” touka sighed. “Sorry, I’m just being cranky. I shouldn’t be making demands-”
“No no,” He squeezed her hand, shaking his head. “You’re right. It’s just…so hard to try to do everything at once. It hurts leaving you everyday and I know I have no right to complain because you and mai should always come first. Always. So what I’m really saying is please be patient. Once I finally get a break, I’ll treat you two to a day out. Just us for the whole day.”
“Oh?” Touka smirked, hiding behind a curtain of hair. “Is that right?”
“I promise.”
He leaned in again and gave her another kiss. Then another. And another. Each one lasted longer than the one before. She wrapped her arm around his neck and pulled him down, turning him over on the bed, his hands roaming beneath her shirt.
“Tut tut, kaneki.” Touka breathed as she pulled back slightly with a sly smirk on those perfect lips. “Making me wait for so long. However will you make it up to me?”
He turned her so that he was pinning her down, gazing down at her beautiful face, his eyes taking in each one of her features. How had he have neglected her for so long? An even better question was how was she still his after all this, but he had more improtant things to think about right now. He licked his lips slowly, taking off his shirt and threw it to the side before he moved his hands to the hem of her shirt.
“I can think of a few ways.”
Touka grumbled to herself as she walked out of her room, her hair disheveled, shadows around her eyes and she was dressed only in a long shirt kaneki wore yesterday that she found somewhere on the floor. They really needed to limit themselves on weekly nights when touka has to get up early to work and yet, touka still found herself smiling giddy at the thought of last night.
In the kitchen, she saw kaneki by the oven and mai seated at the dining table in the centre of the room. The overwhelming stench of human food made her gag a little as she took a seat besides her wide awake daughter. Mai stuffed her mouth with scrambled egg, spilling it all over her with touka mumbling complaints about the mess under her breath. Kaneki came to take the plate away, placing down a coffee for touka.
“Isn’t mama lazy? Sleeping in so late.” Kaneki grinned when mai agreed. Touka pulled a face, glaring at kaneki as he walked away.
“And who’s fault is that?” Touka yelled out, taking a sip of her coffee. “You weren’t complaining last night. If anything, weren’t you the one who told me ‘don’t stop’ repeatedly, touka chan?” She choked on her drink, kaneki looking back to see her wipe her mouth with her eyes still shooting daggers at him.
“Mama,” Mai tugged her shirt. “Can I go to the park today? Daddy said the weather will be nice today, so can we go? Please. Can we?”
“I’m sorry, baby. I have work today.” Mai looked dejected, sinking back down into her seat with her usually energetic self now quiet with disappointment. She hated seeing mai this way, but she simply couldn’t-
“I’ll take her.” Kaneki suggested, standing behind Mai’s seat and leaned down to plant a kiss on her small head. “How about it, then? I’ll try to finish early and pick you up at the cafe and then I can take you to the park before the sun sets.”
Mai looked towards touka along with kaneki, both silently asking for permission with their big, pleading eyes. Touka giggled and nodded her head, watching mai jump up in her seat, jumping happily before touka scolded her once again and sat back down.
Kaneki made his leave, giving both his girls a tight hug before he left for another long day of duties he would no doubt need to fulfill. It wasn’t long after touka got herself and mai ready and left the house to head towards the cafe, listening to mai talk about what she wanted to do in the park later whilst she skipped besides her. Her child beamed with so much joy and it warmed touka’s heart to watch. It’s been a while since she’s seen mai so excited.
She just hoped kaneki could keep his promise this time.

Why Is Papyrus So Great?
Just a little cute thing that I’d had on my mind for, what feels like, forever. Been thinking about it and tossing it around until I decided to finally buckle down and put it on “paper” of sorts.
I might make it a comic later but I dunno~ *shrug* If anyone wants to have at it, go for it and just credit me/let me know!~
The creak of floorboards on the balcony above echoed in the Skeleton household, a small figure tiptoeing its way to another door just down the way. It had been but a measly hour since he was put to bed, but the little tike had a plan in store.
With his gaze firmly set on his target, the small skeleton ninja’d his way into the room, and silently shut the door behind him, with a firm hold on the knob half a foot above his head. While the room was dark, a night light shone above the crib to the left, staving the shadows from touching even an inch of the child within it.
Adorned in an orange and femur-decorated onesie was his new little brother, Papyrus. Being the little troublemaker he was, Sans prefered the nickname “Papy.” His father implored him to get over that name quickly since the babybones practically whimpered in his arms at the silly title, but gave up when it proved useless to say otherwise. Shuffling over to the crib, pushing their dad’s story chair to the side, the young prankster clambered on with a grunt of effort. He hated doing so much work, but if he was able to do this, then he could say he has done everything he can to keep his promise when Dad first brought him home. Hands to the guardrail, bright white eyelights peered down into the pale cream sheets to see his baby brother softly snoring within. He couldn’t believe that he was a big brother now, beaming with pride and adoration for the little bundle in there.
“hi, Papy~” he greeted, voice soft in a whisper to not wake him. “do you wanna know somethin’ cool? you.” His perma-grin widened as he leaned down, a hand cupped around his mouth as though it were the biggest secret the world has ever known. His soul fluttered in giddy excitement. “you’re the great Papyrus. you’re the coolest brother in the world and nobody can tell you different. you’re gonna be the greatest good guy in the whole world.”
Sockets widened when the baby shifted in his sleep, hearing a sigh leave him with a smile as he clutched to the soft blanket. The tiny “nyeh” that left his mouth made Sans giggle.
After watching his brother sleep a little longer, the future comedian crawled down from the chair to put it back, and whispered a goodnight to his brother before leaving the bedroom. Making sure to get back to bed without getting caught, and almost having a mini-soul attack at hearing the squeak of his dad’s bed in the room between his and Pap’s, Sans quickly made it back and fell asleep.
So, every night without fail, Sans would pay a visit to his brother’s chambers and no one would be the wiser. Even well into adulthood, he kept up this trend. After reading the adventures of Fluffy Bunny and his pals, he’d bid Papyrus a good night’s sleep then tuck him in with his favorite teddy bear. Roughly an hour later, he’d return to whisper those words of encouragement.
Waking up from his dreamland when there was pounding on his bedroom floor, he rolled off his mattress to join his bro for breakfast.
“mornin’, Pap.”
“Good morning, sleepybones! You slept in rather late today! If we don’t hurry, we might miss a human! What if they come through today?!” Papyrus cried, red-gloved hands holding either side of his face in worry.
“‘ey, take it easy, bro. no human would dare go through your amazing traps without ya.” Sans reassured, offering a smile as he ate his brother’s leftover breakfast spaghetti from the day before. It wasn’t the best but, then again, he didn’t tell him he was the world’s best chef now, did he?
A sound of defeated acceptance came from the tall dreamer. “Well, yes, I know but… But! I still want to be there when they do show up! So, hurry up and let’s get going, brother! I must be the one to impress Undyne! The honorable title of Royal Guardsman awaits me! Nyeh heh heh!” he declared, waiting for his beloved brother to finish his mouthful before ushering the two of them from the house (though he was careful not to trip him with his boots catching on the ragged slippers).
“alright, alright. let’s go.” Hands shoved deep into his hoodie pockets, Sans walked with his brother through town and towards his station by the Ruins’ entrance. “welp, this is my stop. i guess there’s snow way out of my work shift today?”
“Nygeh! SANS! Why must you pun so early in the morning?!” Papyrus shouted, foot stamping in the snow. He tried to ignore the chuckle his fit earned, hands on his hips in disbelief. “Honestly, Sans. If you put as much effort into work as you do your puns, you’d sleep better knowing you did everything you could to be as great as me.”
A shrug. “hey, being great is your thing, bro.”
“Well, true as that may be, you are my brother so you can be great too!”
Sans blinked, eyelights flickering in surprise. Then, his expression smoothed out into a casual smile as always. “nah, it’s too much work. but, thanks for believing in me, Paps.”
As irritated as ever for his lazy attitude, Papyrus rolled his eyes before heading out with a promise to check on him later.
Watching him walk off down the path they had come, the comedian’s perma-grin softened as his whole frame relaxed. “you’ll always be the great Papyrus. i’m fine just bein’ Sans, bro…”
don’t let anybody tell you different...
