The Will Wood concert in Houston was very fun!! Very very enjoyable but!! Some Will Wood fans need to learn some serious concert etiquette, for example
DONT GIVE A STRANGER DEAD ANIMALS
Someone in the front of crowd held up a wet specimen of a rat and shouted DO YOU WANT A DEAD RAT??
Will just stood there in silence for a few seconds before trying to laugh it off saying “you guys are like the kind of people who get off to making vegans uncomfortable huh.” He was about to perform his new song too about befriending a rodent in his home and he ended up not performing that one. This is a man who is known to like rats why would anyone think that is acceptable?
I’m not Will Wood obviously so I don’t know how bothered he was by it or if he was able to shake it off just fine or what but regardless that kind of behavior should not happen in the first place. I’m horrified that this kind of behavior seems to be occurring more and more often in music events like this.

You couldn’t help it.
It started off simple. Chewing your nails out of nerves and anxiety eventually gave way to chewing your nails out of habit. You didn’t mean too, it just happened. It’s not that you did it on purpose, anyway.
But everyone else on base still made fun of you for it.
Then, things got slightly more complicated. Putting your fingers in your mouth when you were nervous, or concentrating— just pressing the tip of your thumb to your bottom lip, or rubbing the pad of your index finger against the top of your lower row of teeth. It wasn’t meant to be gross, or strange, or anything like that. You couldn’t help it!
Things kept ramping up. Soon, you found yourself absent-mindedly biting at lollipop-sticks for hours on end, the plastic rolling along your teeth and tongue and giving you something to focus on. Then, it was sucking and chewing on the lid of your drink bottle for literally fucking days during missions.
It was becoming embarrassing, especially when the boys commented on it, joked about you acting like some teething fucking animal. It made you immediately spit out whatever it was in your mouth, and draw back within yourself, face burning. You didn’t mean too.
Gaz and Soap, bless their hearts, joked about it like teenagers. They didn’t mean it maliciously. They were idiots. You didn’t dwell on it too much.
Price tried to help. He noticed the chewing of the nails, first. Noticed the red, raw ring around your fingertips.
Just dip your fingers in hand sanitiser. You’ll hate the taste.” He suggested.
You gave him a look. That’s not going to work, Price, oh my god.
He laughed. He seemed to understand you the most, though. On base, he carried toothpicks in his pocket, and would roll one across the table to you during rather tedious or nerve-wracking briefings. You’d twist them around in your mouth until you could taste the wood.
On a couple of occasions during missions, he’d hand you an unlit cigar if he had one to spare. You didn’t like the actual smoke inhalation that came with smoking, but the look of it always intrigued you. So, Price would hand you a cigar and you’d happily roll your lips around it, not binding the bitter taste of tobacco. Sometimes, Price would place his hat on your head while the cigar hung from your lips.
Soap liked to do this thing— he’d enter the room after Price gave you a cigar and his hat. He’d act shocked, looking between the two of you with his hands either side of his head in an expression of shock.
“Two Price’s?!?!?!?!”
It was funny, you had to admit.
But, the one person you couldn’t quite crack about the matter was your lieutenant.
He noticed your fixation. Of course he did. Ghost noticed everything.
But he didn’t act weirded out, making jokes like Gaz and Soap. He didn’t even try to offer help like Price.
He’d just make small remarks to you. Sometimes they were somewhat helpful. Sometimes you felt your body grow hot with embarrassment.
Chewing on your nails?— he’d tap you on the head as he walked past you.
Fingers near or in your mouth?— he’d yank your arm away with a shake of his head.
Sucking on the nozzle of your drink bottle for a bit too long?— he’d grip the back of your head and pull your mouth off of it.
Each action made you feel humiliated, to say the least. But, each action also had him speaking to you in ways that made your stomach flip.
Tap on the head = “Quit it, sergeant.”
Arm yanked away = “None of that, thank you.”
Head pulled away = “Don’t make me ask you again.”
Did some of his whispered words make your core throb? Maybe. Was that a problem? Also maybe, but who cares?
This entire thing came to a head one night in base. Price, Soap and Gaz were off doing god knows what, leaving you alone in the rec-room. You found yourself running a finger against your teeth as you stared into space, your most previous mission replaying in your mind.
You didn’t even hear Ghost come in. You also didn’t see him until he was looming over you, a hand clamping around your wrist.
You squeaked in surprise.
“You just don’t listen, do you?” He tutted softly. “You’re hurting yourself. I’ve told you to quit it.”
You looked up at him. “I don’t mean too, sir, I mean it. It just—”
“I don’t care,” Ghost said simply. “Stop it. I’m fed up of seeing you putting shit in your mouth. You’re not a dog.”
You rolled your eyes. “You don’t understand—”
“I don’t understand?” He blinked down at you. “I don’t understand? I understand perfectly. You just want things in your mouth, right? That’s what you want, eh?”
You frowned. “You’re making it weird.”
He had a hand on his belt now. When did he do that? It made your stomach flip.
“You want to suck on something so bad? You want something in your mouth?” He was unbuckling his belt before you could reply. “Come on then, naughty girl, open your fucking mouth.”
You gaped at him as he let his belt hang either side of his hips and place one of his gloved hands to his growing bulge.
“Lieutenant—?”
“Well?” He prompted, imprint of his cock right in front of your face. “Come on, sergeant. You want to put things in your mouth, right? So go on. Suck my fucking cock. Open wide and let me stuff this mouth with my cock.”
Oh.
I mean, you weren’t complaining.
But oh.
He peered down at you between long, blond eyelashes. You swallowed thickly, his stare making your entire body grow hot. His eyes seemed to grow darker and despite the skull balaclava, you could imagine his expectant expression.
“On your knees.” He whispered, bringing a hand to cup the back of your head.
You did as you were told— clambering off of the couch and sinking to the floor. His hand was still heavy on the back of your head as you propped ourself on your knees. He pushed your head forward, and you caught yourself by placing your hands on his thick thighs.
“Come on, pretty girl. I don’t have all night. Take my cock out.” He mumbled, pressing your face closer to the obvious bulge in his jeans.
He lightened his grip so you could lean back. With shaky hands, you unbuttoned and then unzipped his jeans. You opened them and proceeded to push down his boxers, letting his hard cock spring free.
“Good fucking girl. Now take it in your hand,” Ghost hissed. “Wrap your hand around it— ah, fuck, there you go.”
You grasped the base of his cock firmly, making him curse under his breath. You squeezed it gently, stroking lightly, and he hissed out, the hand on the back of your head tightening in your hair.
“S’enough of that,” he tugged at your hair. “Open.”
You looked up at him, eyelashes fluttering. He looked down, cocking a head slightly to the side. Tentatively, you leaned forward and, still maintaining eye contact, pressed your lips delicately to the reddened tip of his cock. The pressure was featherlight, barely a peck, and when you pulled back, you had a small smear of precum on your lower lip.
He grunted, the hand at your head tightening so much that it made you choke on a whine.
“Quit the fucking teasing,” Ghost grunted again. “Naughty girl you are, eh, sergeant?”
You kissed the tip of his cock again. This time, you darted your tongue out like a fucking lizard and swiped it along the sensitive slit across the head. A deep, gravelly sound emitted from Ghost’s throat.
Whoops.
His other hand came down to your face, and he forced a thumb into your mouth. It was cottony against your tongue, his glove tasting like the smell of him. He kept his thumb pressed to your tongue, his other hand gripping the back of your head. His cock was still directly in front of your face. A dribble of pre leaked down the fat shaft of it.
“What’d I just fucking say?” He growled, thumb pressing down harder. “Quit fucking teasing. You don’t want to listen to your lieutenant, eh?”
His thumb on your tongue was making you salivate so much that strings of it dripped from the corners of your mouth. You whined, embarrassed, as your body flared hot with humiliation.
Ghost chuckled, low and dark. “Messy girl.”
He finally shifted his thumb, hooking it onto the bottom row of your teeth, the rest of his fingers holding your chin. With this, he forced your jaw wider, pushing your head closer with his other hand.
“You want to put things in your mouth? Want to be a dirty girl?” Ghost let go of your head briefly so he could grasp his cock. He brought it forward and ran the sensitive tip across your lower face, smearing your saliva. He shuddered an exhale at the sensation. “Come on then. Let me put my cock in your mouth. Let’s see how dirty you can be.”
He kept your jaw open like a vice as he pulled his cock back and then proceeded to push it into your open mouth. You gagged immediately as he rammed the tip into the back of your throat with a groan.
“Yeah, that’s right. Gag on it,” Ghost groaned. “Fucking gag on it. S’too big, eh? Fuck, I know, pretty girl. But you love putting things in your mouth, don’t you? I bet you love this.”
Tears were welling in your eyes when he removed his thumb from your mouth. He kept a hand on the back of your head, guiding you to take more and more of him.
He was grunting and groaning quietly above you, your cunt throbbing at the sounds. Meanwhile, you continued to wrap your lips around his girth and keep up with the way he was fucking your throat.
He was heavy on your tongue. Velvety smooth, with veins you could feel and drips of precum that you could taste. You moaned around his cock, and he bucked his hips deeper into you, making you gag again. Tears slipped from your eyes and down your cheeks.
“That’s it, take it,” he muttered, the fat head of his cock slamming into the back of your throat. “Take it all in this slutty little mouth. Listen to these noises, too. Such a filthy fucking mouth.”
The noises were slick and wet. Your saliva, dribbling down your chin, pooled in your mouth as he fucked it. It was sloppy and messy. The sounds filling your ears made your stomach twist in both mortification and excitement.
Ghost was fucking his cock into your mouth like a madman. His thrusts were desperate while he kept a firm grip on your head. He watched you as you took his cock down your throat, grunting at each suctioned drag, eased by the amount of saliva.
His breaths were now coming in pants. “You’re not gonna put your fingers in your mouth again, okay? You want something to suck on, then you come and suck on my cock. Got it?”
You whimpered around him, desperately trying to hold more gags at bay.
He was still grunting and groaning deep from his chest as pleasure built within him. “M-fuck. M’gonna cum down your throat and you’re gonna take it all, pretty girl.”
You whimpered at him again. Your core was throbbing so much you thought you might die.
The grip Ghost had on your head tightened even more, forcing you to take more of his cock until your nose was flush to the thatch of hair at the base. You whined and gagged and it prompted Ghost to whisper your name and cum down your throat.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck,” he babbled as he emptied his load into your mouth. “Fuck, yeah, take it, pretty girl. Don’t waste it… don’t waste it.”
He rutted his cock a couple more times before he pulled out. He blinked down at you lazily as you stared up at him, cheeks puffed out with a mouth full of his cum. Cheekily, you poked your tongue out a few centimetres, some of his seed oozing out and dripping down your chin.
“Holy fuck—” He caught himself moaning. “Just— fuck, swallow it.”
You did, and he moaned again. He pulled you up towards him, urging you to your feet by still holding your head. Then, he kissed you, shoving his tongue into your mouth to smother the noise of surprise you made.
When he pulled back, he breathed deeply, massaging the back of your neck gently.
“I’m serious, by the way. Stop chewing your nails and sucking on your fingers… please.”
You smiled at him. “I’ll try. As long as I can distract myself by sucking on your cock instead.”
“O’course you can, pretty girl.”

soulmate au with percy and reader. i was thinking like reader is like a complete nobody at camp and the daughter of some not really known god. percy and reader meet by accident and they figure out they are soulmates. percy at first didn’t want anything to do with it because he had feelings for annabeth but comes around.
Tumblr media
Percy Jackson x Fem!reader. (Soulmate au)
-£ Pictured a older version of book Percy, but imagine them staying a camp or coming late.
-£ words: 1.5 words
-£ warnings: Angst, rejection, jealousy, I love annabeth, percy being mean? Idk. Anyway kinda short. What can I say, I love a man with dark hair who has sass?🤷‍♀️
Tumblr media
“Do you ever wonder who you’re soulmates is?” percy sat on the log near the cliff looking over the sunset. annabeth keeping her eyes on the forest below, smiling softly as the orange sun hit her skin.
“I’m not worried about it, they will come to me when the time is right.” she replied with a calm voice.
percy could help himself from looking down at her hand and slowly inching his hand near hers. the marking was just late. he knew that she was his soulmate. how could she not be after everything they went through? besides no one knew him like she did.
fate is a funny thing.
because the person who was chosen to be his, and his alone wasn’t the girl he sat next to. it was you. you barely had any contact with percy. never even spiking a word to each other and yet the world still twined you together.
looking back on it he wished he reacted in a nicer way then he did. anything other then what he did, even faint.
he was running a pile of arrows to the archery training ground when he ran into you. as soon as your eyes met the world was slow for just a second and colors shined brighter then they did. in that moment you both felt something that was more then the gods. something even the gods can’t touch.
“woah,” you whisper with your hands still held onto the arrows he was trying to give to you. his hands didn’t stop clinching onto the wood, he couldn’t believe it.
you blink at him for him to do something other then stand there and stare with a open mouth. sure this type of thing wasn’t normal but he didn’t even move a inch.
but you wished he had stayed quiet, “Look, I um..” he let go of the things you two shared and took a step back with hasted.
“I have to run.” you watched him run off like there was nothing important to keep him here.
At first you thought that he was just shy, in shock, and didn’t know what to say. but you soon figured out he wanted nothing to do with you. you followed him around and tried to talk to him at every chance you got but he would always slip from your fingers.
cornering him in the woods at night wasn’t the best idea but you had but there was not other choice. it didn’t feel good to have your soulmate avoid you.
“There is a mistake.” his voice echoed through the woods, “I feel nothing for you. I am sure you are amazing, but you are not my soulmate.”
he watched the tears pool into your eyes like the waves he controlled. taking a step back from the news from his lips that crushed your soul. “I am in love with another.”
Licking your lips you roll your eyes to try and stop the tears forming. “it’s annabeth isn’t it?” he couldn’t deny it even if he wanted to. the silence he gave when he opened his mouth but nothing came out told you everything you needed to know.
“I do hope you live a happy life,” you walked closer to him only inches away, “especially when she finds her soulmate.” you walked past him and down the dirt path back to your cabin where you broke down.
fate was twisted and cruel for giving you him.
day and night you thought about him. and day and night you got worse. everyone could see the toll of being rejected but no one new by who. not a soul knew about you and percy and you honestly liked it that way. no pity glances when they hung out together.
soulmate depression was a serious thing and could lead one down to a never reversible illness. your eyes lost their light, no one ever saw you smile, looking as dead like as possible. every positive feeling in your body was drained out.
annabeth looked over at you at diner time as you stared at the plate in front of you, sitting at the edge of the bench. “It’s terrible,” she said and picked at her food with a fork. “I hope they come around.”
the trio stared at you in pity, one of them feeling guilt. “It’s a really bad case, I feel so bad.” Grover looked sad as he almost cried himself. love was supposed to be for real, that’s what soulmates were for! If he had one he would never let them get like that.
Percy found himself studying the girl. Her hair messy, her face grime and eyes blank and darker then the last time he looked in them. And Percy was the cause.
“Yeah,” the black hairy boy turned and poked at his food.
It has been week since then and a weight sunk in his stomach when he thought of you, which was almost every moment now. He thought about how you would smile before and how he wanted to see that again. He really thought he liked annabeth but each day that feeling went away.
Maybe he could think things over. But how could he apologize? Would you still want him?
But as Percy thought over the war in his head you moved on. Or as much as you could. there was a sickness in your body but you tried to fight it and spent time with your friends.
one boy took you in quickly. the two of you now glued at the hip and he was the only one who seemed to make you smile now.
“Dude,” Grover knocked his shoulder with his own, “What did he do to you?”
The son of Poseidon darted his eyes lowly at some boy. The way you smiled ever so sweetly like he has been wishing to see for weeks but this- This guy could cause it easily. And those small laughed he could hear so faintly in his ears.
“Nothing.” Percy stated while still glaring at the guy heavily.
the satyr nodded but lingered his eyes on his friend for a few seconds. clearly not believing him one bit.
“I have to tell you something,” he pulled his eyes away from you and to his friend. Guilt covering his face. “You know how y/n got reflected by her soulmate?” his voice shaky.
“Of course, it was hard to watch.” He answered. It didn’t take long for him to connect the dots when Percy lifted his brows as a sign. Grover gasped loudly.
“You did- Oh my god’s. How could you?” His mouth was then covered by Percy as he shh’d him.
Percy took a big breath as he held his hand over his mouth, “I’m not proud of it. It was just, I didn’t feel like we could be. I thought me and annabeth were soulmates until they came along,” he turned his eyes back to your direction to find you laughing slightly with your friends.
“I was terribly wrong.”
As much as Grover was mad at his friend he could see the guilt and regret on his face. He helped him come up with a plan, and gave him a very long lecture about love. Annabeth found out, and cursed him out. Saying that the marks don’t lie and was overly upset he could do that for her.
it took a week of long work for him to build up the courage to finally talk to you.
lucky he knew exactly where you would be. in the same stop he saw you for the first time as his soulmate. In the training grounds. You had been walking back to your cabin looking as beautiful as always even with your gloomy change.
you had a basket in your hand. you hummed quietly and kept your eyes on the dirt path underneath your feet. you were too out of it to hear him walking from behind you. “Y/n.” He called your name.
turning around startled you are met with him smiling at you. the boy who broke your heart standing there with a warm smile on his face as if he didn’t do anything wrong.
“Percy.” You whisper and step back. “I um…Do you need something?” you were shaking almost.
He got closer slowly as he got more awkward by the second, “can we talk?” you were hesitant to expect his offer but you nodded.
“I want to apologize for rejecting you. I felt horrible watching you- Well, get like this.” He kept getting closer and you didn’t know if you should run away or scream at him.
“I was wrong. You are the girl for me.” He saw the tears flood in the corner of your eyes and your lips tremble
“you think that’s enough?” you didn’t yell but he could sense the harsh tone in your voice. And you have that right.
“No, not really.” his frowns. Knowing he needed to do more.
“But I’m willing to work as hard as I need to. If you will have me?”
His green eyes filled with sorrow. the feeling to leave him here, with nothing like he did to you. But you couldn’t. You felt better in his presence as he looked at you.
“I’ll allow it, but we take this slow.” All he could do was smile again and nod his head in understanding.
even if you didn’t trust him. he healed your heart in the matter of seconds.

hi! i found your blog yesterday and i’m obsessed! i was wondering if you could do one where in Y/N’s culture give someone a hand-crafted object (like a wood carving), it’s a way of confessing without actually saying that they like that person, but only Gandolf and Aragorn know since they have traveled all around Middle Earth! Thanks so much for your time!
Thank you, I’m glad you like this blog! I hope you’ll enjoy your post!
・゚✧ Aragorn.
Tumblr media
Indeed, Aragorn knows exactly what you mean when you gift him the wooden amulet you crafted over the past few days. He smiles fondly, aware of what this means for you. He’d take it the exact same way as he would a verbal love confession, takes your hands in his and gives you a kiss ♡ He'd also ask you about the exact cultural implications of the symbols you used etc.!
・゚✧ Arwen.
Tumblr media
Arwen has been kind to you ever since you started your work as a blacksmith in Rivendell. She is very impressed with your work and you soon start to fall for her. When her favourite bracelet breaks one day, you see your chance to use your newly-learned skills of Elven craftmanship to make her a new one. Though part of you wished she understood your gift’s meaning, Arwen’s unknowing reaction makes you just as happy: she’s beaming with joy and giving you a tight hug!
・゚✧ Boromir.
Tumblr media
Boromir spends days wracking his brains about the hand-crafted sheath you made for him. Every time he turns it in his hands, he can feel the energy and affection you poured into his gift. Still, its true meaning stays a mystery to him… until one day, he’d not-so-casually ask you, “It doesn’t carry a deeper meaning, does it?”
・゚✧ Elrond.
Tumblr media
The day Elrond finds the artful bookmark you crafted for him on his table, wrapped in a gorgeous leaf, he starts researching your culture. He faintly remembers hearing of love customs from your home region but thinks this couldn’t be possibly true! After a whole day of reading, he’d ask you for a conversation and talks about it to you, always respecting your culture’s habit of not outright stating your feelings. He’d be very understanding.
・゚✧ Éomer.
Tumblr media
Éomer is convinced that the little horse figurine you carved out of the most gorgeous walnut wood is a present you gave him out of fascination and respect for Rohirrim culture. While he is happy about the kind gesture, he is entirely oblivious to its meaning. So one day, when you absolutely couldn’t take it anymore, you’d had to take him aside and break your culture’s customs – because otherwise, this man wouldn’t get it!
・゚✧ Éowyn.
Tumblr media
While Éowyn may be unaware of your culture’s custom, she does recognise how much gifting her handcrafted objects means to you. So, she soon starts making something for you in return – albeit clumsily – but still you can’t help but swoon! You start to develop a playful gift exchange that Éowyn partakes in so lovingly that in the end, it doesn’t really matter that she didn’t know of your specific custom. Since you get together anyway, you can just tell her afterwards!
・゚✧ Faramir.
Tumblr media
Whatever you craft for Faramir, be it a bookmark, a tool, or a piece of jewellery – he’d treasure it religiously. Maybe he’d even build a shrine around it, hidden away in his quarters, where he’d sit down and think of you. Imagine his shock when he learns (possibly through Gandalf) of your gift’s true meaning – the poor man would blush like a sunrise, unable to speak to you for the next few days. He is ashamed of his perceived ignorance toward you and overwhelms you with the most romantic love confession in return!
・゚✧ Frodo.
Tumblr media
Frodo would be very casual about the notebook you crafted for him. He uses it as his journal, for flower pressing, and recipes. Everybody keeps asking about the gorgeous binding and covers, and he always redirects everyone to you with great pride. He is glad that your crafting skills finally find recognition in the Shire. However, since you only craft for those you love, you always have to send the other Hobbits away, until one day you admit to Frodo the truth behind your gift, which he takes with great joy.
・゚✧ Galadriel.
Tumblr media
Galadriel is convinced that the ring you made for her carries a deeper meaning, she just can’t quite put her finger on it, with you being so mysterious. It intrigues her, since usually everyone is an open book to her. When she asks you anew about your gift, you can’t help but give in to her warm telepathic voice, and confess your feelings to her. She’d light up with joy – “What a wonderful gift! The most precious anyone has to give!”
・゚✧ Gandalf.
Tumblr media
For Gandalf, you’d craft a new staff or wand. You don’t expect much when you gift it to him, so his sudden attention comes as a surprise to you: “You said you’ve made this yourself? It is an artful present…” His soft, loving glance would instantly tell you he understood. You share a blissful laugh, before he would deny any knowledge about your culture.
・゚✧ Gimli.
Tumblr media
You’d gift Gimli a precious stone or gem you found in the mines, having perfected it into a shape that’s perfect for his collection. When you gift it to him, his reaction puzzles you though: “No gem in this world is more precious than your presence in my life…” He wanted to confess to you too – what impeccable timing!
・゚✧ Haldir.
Tumblr media
Haldir is the worst person to make gifts for – while he trains his face not to show it, his confusion is still very much readable to you, now that you know him. The archery gloves you made for him are stored away deep in his travel bag, never to be seen again. It’s not until Aragorn secretly informs him of your region’s customs that Haldir finally understands your gesture – which leaves him even more irritated...! He is considerate enough to say “thank you” at least, with a timid kiss ♡
・゚✧ Legolas.
Tumblr media
Legolas would be thrilled that you made him an arrow, not meant for battle but prestigious decoration. The affection and care you poured into your hand-crafted gift do not escape his sharp attention, whenever he touches the glistening arrow and turns it in his hands. Intrigued by these feelings, he starts ‘investigating’ – meaning he teases you about a possible crush. He’d only stop when he sees how important this topic is too you, which is when he finally understands.
・゚✧ Merry.
Tumblr media
For Merry, you’d craft a new pipe. He is excited about your gift but oblivious to the deeper meaning behind it. That said, his sharp attention does catch your slight blush when you give it to him. It makes him think – and after days and days of pondering, he starts a courting offensive on his own, until the day you finally get together!
・゚✧ Pippin.
Tumblr media
The wood carving you’d gift Pippin is originally meant for decoration, but he carries it around his neck as an amulet. He proudly tells everyone who made it – and knowing how close the two of you are, it doesn’t take a genius to understand your gift’s true meaning. The situation would eventually solve by Pippin telling you, completely confused: “I thought we already were an item?! Of course I love you too!”
・゚✧ Sam.
Tumblr media
Out of all the Middle-Earth characters, Sam probably appreciates handcrafting and artisanship the most, being a craftsman himself. His reaction to your wood carving of a sunflower is appropriately flustered: “This must’ve taken quite some time to make, I’d say. Turned out so beautiful, too. Not that I expected anythin’ else from you! You are very skilled in many areas, after all…” His beautiful little speech charms you so much that you end up confessing your love unconventionally! Be it verbally or with a surprise kiss ♡

WIP Snip
Nearly finished this fic, final extended scene is a go atm. In this snippet, Harry has just arrived unexpectedly at the Manor where Draco is undercover pretending to be a Death Eater. CW for wandpoint confessions and mild angst.
Draco’s eyes narrowed but he put his hand inside his robe and then, quicker than Harry could have hoped to notice, Draco had his wand out and was holding it to Harry's throat, pressing hard so the wood bit into the tender skin under his jawline. "You are Harry, I suppose? You seem right, of course, but there’s always a chance that someone enterprising might come along with a stash of Polyjuice and a gift for impersonation.” “Oh, fuck off,” Harry managed, and the point of Draco’s wand wormed slowly deeper into flesh. “You knew it was me the second you saw me.” “Mmm, I suppose that’s true,” Draco murmured agreeably, something suggestive about how the sound travelled through the small space between them. His free hand strayed to Harry’s forehead and he brushed his fingers lightly over the dried blood that Harry could feel tightening on the skin there. “But indulge me. Tell me something only you would know.” Harry scoffed, though he was thinking with his throat tight of Arthur knocking at the door of the Burrow in the middle of the night long ago, and Molly blushing, and how they had exposed the long intimacy of their marriage for safety's sake. “There’s a lot I could tell you,” he said tightly. “If you’re really sure you want to hear it.” “By all means,” Draco said, eyes on Harry, searching for something in his face. “You fucked me in that bed and afterwards you asked me not to leave because you wanted to wake up with me? Remember?” Draco wanted to look towards the bed, Harry could tell by the way his eyes flickered, but he resisted, and so Harry went on. “You told me you wanted us to win this war just so you could take me back to London and feed me my favourite ice-cream off your spoon. You told me the only thing you miss about France is how you and your mum really got to know each other properly, and that when she gets back you want to take her for dinner to that little French bistro we went to that time in Edinburgh. I know you remember that, you said the wine was better than anything in the cellar here.” Draco nodded shortly, and almost regretfully pulled his wand away from Harry’s neck. He didn’t move away. “Yes, fair enough, I believe you.” But Harry couldn’t stop, didn’t know how to shut up now he had started. “The last time we were together, you told me that I’m generous with my love. Do you remember that? And I wondered then… because I’d never said it, had I? Not out loud, anyway. Neither of us had. But I thought, maybe— Maybe it meant that you knew.” Draco was staring, his eyes wide and shocked, a blush crawling up his neck, blotchy with heat. Neither of them moved, the silence between them growing until Harry could practically feel it. Draco almost raised his hand to Harry then; Harry sensed the arrested movement, the enforced stillness. He didn’t know what he’d do if Draco touched him. But he didn’t have to find out, because that’s when the knock at the door sounded.

“Your what?”
Gareth's annoyed words repeated in your head over and over again.
She’s your mate. She’s your mate. She’s your mate.
Your mate.
Mate. Mate. Mate. Mate.
You had read enough fantasy romance novels to read between the lines of what he was saying.
You felt dizzy, unsteady on the side of the road that you were currently stranded on with a pack of men that turned into wolves, with one of them being extra bossy and thinking that he had some connection to you that you had been blissfully unaware of.
A lot of thoughts and revelations came rushing to you at that moment. The weird reaction the first time he saw you. The time Eddie showed up at your job begging to talk. The wolf in the road. The flowers on your car. Your lawn being mowed.
Someone let out a low whistle at either the steam coming out of your ears or the death glare you were sending to Eddie.
“Listen-“ Eddie started.
“No,” you cut him off, finger pointed in the air.
He shut his jaw with an audible click of his teeth at your command.
You found yourself moving closer to him, finger pointed directly at him. The rest of the guys stepped back, unable to save him from your wrath.
Finger posed at his still bare chest, you gave him a poke.
“Did you-“ Poke. “mow my-” Poke. “lawn?” Poke.
The small twitch of his lips was the only answer you needed.
“Well, I’m gonna get started on that tire!” Gareth chirped cheerfully while the rest of the group except Eddie muttered about going to do their tasks, leaving you glaring at Eddie.
“You can be angry with me.  But now is not the place to do it. We need to get you some water,” Eddie said slowly, carefully.
Now that you thought about it, the shock of your situation kinda wearing off, you were a little thirsty and tired.
Really tired.
“How long was I in there?” You posed the question to Gareth who was currently taking the flat tire off.
“A few hours,” Eddie answered for him, even though you weren’t asking him.
“Hours? How? I wasn’t even that far in the woods!” You gasped, thinking of what you could have possibly been doing.
You heard the trees start to move behind you, probably from an animal but Eddie grabbed you anyways, positioning you between him and the car protectively.
You wanted to roll your eyes and tell him to shove whatever it was where the sun didn’t shine but you knew when to keep your mouth shut. And whatever was in those woods was a good reason to keep your mouth shut.
Eddie relaxed a fraction after a second, but still on edge.
“Just an animal,” he muttered, still staring at the darkness.
Just about then Jonathan pulled up in an old, rattling red pick up truck. He idled on the side of the road while Eddie ushered you in like some sort of half naked body guard.
The inside of the cab smelled like wood chips and weed, a very interesting combination.
Jonathan climbed out and started loading the things you had bought from town earlier in the back of his truck. He got in at the same time as Eddie, smushing you between the two of them awkwardly.
The back of the truck swayed and groaned as Gareth jumped into the bed.
“One of us will come back and get your car fixed up tomorrow,” Eddie said, dark eyes trained on you now.
You scooted away from Eddie pressing most of yourself against Jonathan instead. Jonathan ducked his head shyly, pretending to not notice.
Eddie started to shake so badly you could hear his teeth chattering, an angry glare sent not towards you but to Jonathan.
“Cold?” You asked cheekily. You really didn’t care if he was cold, you were still pissed over the mates thing and couldn’t wait to get an explanation from him and not a supernatural romance book. None of those books were ever consistent anyways.
He just shook his head, jaw clenched.
Jonathan visibly sighed in relief as the truck hit the pothole at the start of your driveway. The trailer seemed more ominous than it was when you left and suddenly even the woods surrounding your house didn’t feel safe.
Every shadow and branch made you think you were seeing a person. You couldn’t tell if that was from the paranoia or the lasting effects of whatever was messing with you earlier in the night.
As soon as the truck stopped Jonathan practically threw himself out of the truck and as far away from you as possible. Instead of letting Eddie help you out of the door, you slid down the seat and out the still open  driver's door.
Eddie met you at the front of the truck, a bag in hand that he must have gotten from Jonathan and led you to your front door, Gareth and Jonathan trailing behind him.
“What do you think you’re doing?” You snapped as soon as Eddie tried to follow you inside.
“Do you really think I’m letting you out of my sight after everything that has happened tonight?” Eddie asked with a chuckle as he tried to step inside. You put a hand up, blocking him from coming any further.
“And I think if you want to come inside my house you need to ask permission first,” you warned.
“We’re not vampires and it’s cold!” Gareth called from behind Jonathan.
“Wait, are vampires real?” You asked Eddie, genuinely curious.
“Let us in and I’ll tell you,” he said with a raised brow and the hint of a smirk.
You rolled your eyes and stepped aside, letting them shuffle in. You watched Eddie’s reaction as he looked around, taking in the open floor plan of your double wide trailer. You pointed him towards your bathroom down the hall so he could put on the clothes that were in the bag.
Gareth went straight for your kitchen.
“You got any food? I’m starving and a little bit stressed,” he said as he opened your fridge and started rummaging through it.
“Gareth,” Eddie warned in a low tone as he stepped into the kitchen, now fully clothed. You had to admit you did miss the tattoos a little bit.
“I think I have some stuff to make sandwiches,” you sighed as you followed him, pulling out the bread and supplies. “Would you like a sandwich, Jonathan?”
You thought you were seeing things by how fast Eddie moved into the kitchen in front of you.
“No,” Eddie snapped, prying the sandwich ingredients out of your hands, persistent yet gentle. “Sit down,” he demanded, pointing towards the couch. “They can make their own damn sandwiches.”
“Did I ask you?” You yanked the bread back out of his hands, smushing it.
“Yum,” Gareth said sarcastically at the ruined bread in your hands.
You had had enough of this already.
“Here,” you said, shoving it into Gareth's hands and stomping towards the living room and away from Eddie. You didn’t like the way he took up the room, making it so every corner of your vision was full of him.
You passed Jonathan who was leaned up against the wall, stiff and awkward with a blush on his cheeks. You wondered what that was about.
You sat on the edge of your couch stiffly, refusing to relax with Eddie  in your house.
“Are you gonna tell me what happened tonight?” You immediately asked as Eddie sat across from you, pausing to set a glass of water into your hands that he had gotten from the kitchen.
“I don’t know,” Eddie said as he leaned forward and rested his elbows on his spread knees.
“You don’t know what led me into the woods?” You asked with a raised brow.
“It’s…something. We aren’t completely sure what it could be. None of us have ever seen it, only felt it. My uncle has told me stories that he heard when he was a kid about there being something in the woods that went after the people of Hawkins dating years back but we don’t know why it’s back or what it wants.” He seemed disappointed in his lack of answers as much as you were but you couldn’t help the suspicion that he was hiding something. You couldn’t tell if that suspicion was just because you didn’t like him or what.
“So, whatever it is we don’t know what it wants or if it’ll strike again,” you deflated.
Eddie nodded grimly.
“And what about me being your mate?” You asked, bitterness lacing your tone as you narrowed your eyes at him.
Eddie looked down at his lap like he was trying to figure out what he was going to say next.
“Because I want no part in that,” you said before he could speak. “I decline, refuse, whatever I have to say to make you go away.”
You could’ve sworn you heard Gareth gasp.
“Hate to break it to you but you’re stuck with me. You can’t just refuse this. I had no choice in it and neither did you,” Eddie said calmly, like he was expecting this from you but you saw the way his chest deflated slightly and the way he started to fiddle with his fingers.
He wasn’t used to being turned down. You had a feeling that every girl in this town jumped to do his bidding as soon as he looked at them with those pretty brown eyes.
You hated to break it to him but he had a lot coming for him if he thought you were just going to fall at his feet and worship him like everyone else. Even his friends listened to his every word in a strange way like what he said was the law.
You decided to change the subject for now, gather all of the information and then turn him down.
Again.
“Let’s start from the beginning,” you said as you clapped your hands together and scooted forward. You tried to ignore the face that you and Eddie’s knees were almost touching. “Can you tell me why you turn into a wolf? I’m sure you can only imagine how many questions I have.”
Eddie cleared his throat, adjusting in his seat but you could still see the self conscious frown on his face. You turning him down really did hurt his feelings.
“Before I tell you everything I need you to promise me that this will all be kept a secret. You can not tell a soul what I am about to tell you,” he said sternly. He searched your face even after you nodded aggressively and crossed your heart.
“Okay, I’m not sure where to start. I’ve never really had this conversation with anyone outside of the pack. So, you know those stories about werewolves or people that turn into these big hairy monsters when the moon is full? They’re mostly true. None of us got bitten. It’s a trait that’s passed down. For me, it came from my dad’s side of the family. We don’t just turn on the full moon, but whenever we want. When the  moon is full we have a harder time resisting the urge to change and go based on wolf instincts instead of our human side but that’s it. It definitely makes for a few awkward mornings when you wake up somewhere naked and you don’t remember anything you did in wolf form. But any other time we know what we’re doing.”
You nodded for him to keep going.
“We don’t know why we get mates but it’s something that happens. Not every werewolf gets one. It’s kind of a lucky thing…” He trailed off fiddling with his hands again for a moment before taking a deep breath and continuing, “I definitely didn’t think I would ever have one. I know you’ve probably heard some things about me-”
“Not a lot but enough to know how you treat women. You’ve slept around with every woman in this town and then throw them away like they mean nothing. I haven’t even lived here that long and I know that,” you snapped, interrupting him.
He stared at you for a moment, not upset that you had cut him off but just waiting for you to finish before he started again.
The worst thing wasn’t how understanding he was with you even when you were being cruel, but how he wasn’t denying his ways.
“Mates are special. You are special. Ever since I first saw you my heart has belonged to you. You are my whole world,” he admitted, voice full of emotion and tender. “I know what people have told you but that’s not the same way I’d be with you.”
You scoffed and rolled your eyes.
“That’s what they all say!” You practically yelled. “I don’t want you thinking for one moment that I am interested in you because I’m not. I appreciate you coming to rescue me but as a person you disgust me.”
He said your name, a broken plea for you to understand but you couldn’t. You didn’t want to be connected to him in this way. You deserved a choice in who you ended up with and if you wanted to be tied to the supernatural life at all.
“I think I’m done with this conversation,” you announced as you stood up. “I’m going to bed because I am mentally and physically exhausted. I’m sure that all of you can find your way out.” You gestured to the front door dramatically before spinning on your heel to walk down the hallway to your bedroom.
Eddie was right behind you in a moment.
“You don’t actually think I’m going to let you stay here by yourself after what happened tonight?” He questioned you, his voice demanding.
“That’s exactly what I think, Eddie,” you responded in a flat tone.
You stopped right before your bedroom door, turning to face him.
He was right there, closer than you thought he would be. Your noses almost brushed. You didn’t back away this time for some strange reason that you didn’t even have the answer to.
“I’m not leaving you alone tonight,” he whispered, soft but still not leaving any room for argument.
“Has anyone told you that you’re pushy? And creepy?” You asked with a raised brow.
“Nope.”
“Well, I think you are. That’s another reason why I don’t want to be your mate.” You said the word mate like it was some sort of incurable disease. You knew you were being cruel but in your mind he deserved it.
“Is that really how you feel after everything I’ve told you tonight?” He asked, rubbing the spot on his chest right above his heart.
“Yes.”
“I’m still staying. I’m not letting anything happen to you. This is for your own safety. I’ll sleep on the couch and you won't even know I’m here.”
You were beyond frustrated. It was like an information overload was frying your brain and you just needed to lock yourself in a room and process without the reminder that Eddie was somewhere in your house, making himself at home like he owned the place.
“Why can’t someone else stay? Like Jonathan?” You knew the second the words came out of your mouth that it was a mistake. You just didn’t know that his reaction was going to be as intense as it was.
A low warning growl erupted from his chest and your hair stood up on the back of your neck at the sound.
You backed away from him and the way he shook in the hallway was a tell tale sign that he was about to lose control because you ran your mouth. He saw the fear on your face and his own started to reflect yours.
“Wait!” He called, starting to move towards you. “I would never-“
You yanked your door open, slamming it behind you and fumbling to get it locked in his face mid sentence.
“-hurt you,” he muttered to the closed door.
You waited for what felt like hours for any noise to happen outside of the bedroom door but there was only silence until you eventually fell asleep.

You had just arrived on an island that you recognized immediately since one of your closest family friends lived there. Happy, you wanted to go see her immediately but you were stopped by Luffy who asked to accompany you. You laughed and, despite his pouting that he tried to convince you with, you refused. However, you placed a kiss on his lips before leaving.
Your parents' friend recognized you at first glance and you fell into each other's arms within seconds. You were happy to see her again after all this time, so you started talking for a few moments until she finally sighed.
"I’m sorry about your mom." she declared sadly. Not understanding what she meant, you raised your eyebrows. She continued. "For her illness? I know it must be hard for you. I'm surprised that you're not with them; have you already said goodbye to her?" A drop of sweat ran down the back of your neck and, confused, you explained to her that you didn't know what she was talking about. "Your mother is terminally ill." she elaborated. "They told me they sent you several letters about it, so I thought you knew." You shook your head in shock.
At the same moment, a commotion was heard on the other side of the store window. You saw a group of Marines running past while shouting that they had spotted the Straw Hat Captain on this street. Panicked, you picked up your things and greeted your parents' friend before running away since, if Luffy had been targeted, you weren't going to stay on the island.
When you arrived at the boat, without being noticed by anyone, you went directly to see the captain to explain your situation and that you would like to leave the ship for a few months to go and see your family. But, to your great astonishment, Luffy refused. You insisted and yet he remained intransigent: You will not leave the ship. You then insisted even more so that he understood your need to be with your loved ones but, as you turned your back and announced that you would leave anyway, the world went black.
You woke up in a cramped room while the rocking under your feet as well as the smell of wood and salt water confirmed to you that you were still on the Sunny. Suddenly, a ray of light passed into the room and you saw your captain smiling through a trapdoor in the only door. Behind him, you noticed the Soldier Docker System  with the doors to Franky and Usopp's workshops in the distance.
"Let me out, Luffy!" You ordered, confused but mostly annoyed. "Nah!" he responds with his characteristic smile. "You are not allowed to leave. Your captain forbids you!" You frowned in concern before speaking. "You can't do that, Luffy. I can leave whenever I want and you have no right to stop me." He laughed as if you had just told a joke. "Well I'm doing it anyway! You'll stay there until you promise me that you'll always stay by my side. And don't bother shouting for the others to come get you, I told them that you stayed on the ground with your friend. See you!"
And he closed the hatch, leaving you alone and in the dark again in the Sunny's hold. You didn't quite understand what had just happened to you but you felt in your gut that you weren't going to like it.

Since the Straw Hat Grand Fleet was formed, you have become very close to the other crews and, in particular, to a group from the Beautiful Pirates that you found very interesting. They had refined manners, their styles were fun with their wigs and mustaches and, above all, they had a lot of conversation. So you gradually started to spend more time with them to find out where they came from and what they had been through. As a result, it took up your time with your other friends from the Straw Hat Pirates even though the majority of them didn't pay much attention to it.
After a while, when the fleet began to run out of supplies, it was decided among the captains that you would stop at the next island to get them. About thirty members were designated among all the crews to go and recover the goods. Among them were, among other things, all your friends from the Beautiful Pirates as well as Zoro. You were not worried at all, so you wished them good luck before returning peacefully to your activities.
Unfortunately, not all of them returned.
Zoro returned to the boat first, some blood on him, announcing that they had been attacked in the mist by a brigand who had taken advantage of the lack of visibility. Seeing nothing, he therefore wanted to inform other pirate but he got lost. A wave of worry ran through the fleet as a feeling of revenge grew within the ranks. Finally, slowly, a few other members of the other crews came back and everyone explained the same version: they had been attacked by a brigand. Everyone looked terrified except Zoro. Only your friends did not return and you lost all hope when you saw Farul returning to the boat. The horse, panicked, began to neigh and rear as soon as he noticed the swordsman in your ranks. Crazy, it took a lot of effort for Cavendish to master it.
When the fog lifted, no bodies were found on the island and rumors began to grow among the pirates that they had been killed by a demon.
That evening, after your feelings had been numbed all day, you felt your walls crack before completely collapsing. You began to mourn the loss of your friends and their mysterious disappearance. Unable to believe this demon story, you began to imagine what had happened to their bodies or what they had been thinking during their last moments.
The crow's nest hatch opened and you saw a green head slipping through it. Zoro approached you as soon as he saw you and, when he was close enough, out of a cruel need for comfort, you took him in your arms. He nevertheless closed his arms around you despite the surprise and then rested his chin on top of your head. You were immediately reassured by his presence and surprised that he accepted your hug so well. However, you didn't complain and stayed in his arms, talking about your loss, while he continued to hold you against him and stroke your back.
From there, a routine settled down.
He came to join you every evening to take you in his arms before letting you evacuate your sadness. He was so supportive that after a few months, when he confessed, you thought it was the kind of support you needed in your life so you accepted.

You were upset. For several weeks, without knowing why, certain very specific memories of your adolescence had come back to your mind, like an afternoon of fishing with your father and his crew mates. Or a boarding with rival ships. You were experiencing these flashes in an abnormally precise way with the details, the smells, the exact conversations and the emotions associated with them.
All the members of the Straw Hats knew what was happening to you and supported you in their own way. Nami, above all, was a huge pillar for you. You had already gotten along very well with her when she joined the crew after you and Zoro, but now she was even more attentive. She listened to you talk about how much it unsettled you to have these outbursts of impromptu memories that you hadn't thought about in a long time. She helped you a lot to unload this emotional burden that was overwhelming you.
Once again, you were alone in the shade of the navigator's mandarin trees. You closed your eyes, exhausted, and the sound of the sea began to lull you. The waves passed and rolled under the hull of the ship or crashed against the wooden planks. Then others took over and it started again and again.
Suddenly, a cage of fear closed around your heart before crushing it and you were plunged into another memory. You were on your father's boat, lying in bed, but something was wrong. It took you a few seconds to untangle your thoughts and realize that you were tied hand and foot. Your wrists and ankles were burning from the uncomfortable friction of the bonds against your skin. A cloth gag also covered your mouth to stop you from screaming. Suddenly, a noise in front of you made you raise your head and you came face to face with a person you had never seen before. Unlike everything around you, this person's head was fuzzy. The only thing you noticed was that it was a girl around your age with orange hair. She abruptly sat down on your lap, making a faint citrus scent waft through your nostrils, before you felt something cold against your cheek. A ray of moonlight passed through your shutters and reflected against the blade placed under your eye.
"I finally catch you." the presence whispered with its face inches from yours. "You were so attractive on the last island that I couldn't help but get on your ship. You are so... these last few days I saw you laughing on the deck and talking to those dirty pirates, but you... you..." And you saw her face move closer to yours until you felt pressure against your lips through the gag.
At the same time, screams were heard from the other side of the door and footsteps echoed on the deck. The girl on your lap groaned before slowly getting up without taking her eyes off you. You saw her grab a large bag from near the door before you closed your eyes. The next day, when you opened them again, you rose unhindered—and without memories—from your bed to discover that your loot had been stolen during the night.
You came out of the memory with a start, your heart beating a thousand miles an hour. You were sweating as your breathing ran out quickly. Above you, the branches of the mandarin trees quivered.
"Slept well?" Nami asked happily.

The battle raged and you attacked as best you could despite the circumstances. Indeed, shortly after arriving on the island, you were found by the Marine who had launched the assault but you were not at your best because of relationship problems which prevented you from concentrating completely.
For several months now, you found that Usopp was becoming more and more restrictive: he no longer wanted you to go on dry land when you docked somewhere, he wanted you to spend less time training to spend more time with him, he preferred that you talk less to the other male members of the crew and the list went on a lot longer. And the worst thing is that he always had justifications! Either he reminded you that it was him who created your weapon and that he regretted it because it had replaced him or he confided in you in private how the other male members of the crew made him doubt his abilities and that the fact that you preferred to talk to them rather than to him meant that you made him insecure.
As the battle finally ended in your victory, a cry from Zoro alerted you. Running up to the swordsman, you saw Usopp's body at his feet. His rolled-back eyes shocked you, as did the pool of blood that was gradually forming around his body. A memory from the day before came back to you: "I want to take a break." You told him, and he replied, "I would rather die than live without you." You froze, your eyes locked on his broken body as Chopper came running in to examine him. Above him, Zoro was explaining that he had seen the sniper suddenly completely stop fighting in the middle of the fight. He had managed to reach him to protect him but Usopp had taken serious blows in the meantime.
The whole crew was tense. You heard the slight sniffles from Franky as Nami collapsed next to her friend, her shoulders shaking in fear. A worried frown also narrowed Zoro and Robin's gaze. Sanji, for his part, was nervously smoking his cigarette while Luffy, the most terrifying of all, was dead silent. After a while, Chopper ended up reassuring you that he was still alive but that he had to be transported back to Sunny immediately.
As soon as he was placed in the infirmary bed, the morbid wait began. For days, you took turns next to him so that you would be immediately informed if he woke up and, for days, you saw the faces of the crew deteriorate more and more. For your part, more than worry, it was guilt that burned your stomach like acid. Was it your fault he stopped fighting? Was he going to die because of you? How would the crew react if he died?
Finally, Usopp woke up much to everyone's relief. He reassured them by blaming it on fatigue and they ended up leaving both of you alone in the infirmary. Their relief made you feel even worse since you weren't relieved that he was alive; you were relieved that he didn’t die because of you. The sniper then asked you to join him in bed and wrapped his arms around you. He placed a soft kiss on your forehead.
"I was so scared when you told me you wanted to leave me." he started to whisper. "I wouldn't survive if you left me."
And, too terrified of what might happen if you broke up, you stayed.

While you were going to the bathhouse as Sanji had asked you, for a surprise, you met Nami. The navigator laughed slightly and admitted that she already knew what was waiting for you because Sanji had talked to her about it all day and asked for her help to prepare it.
"You're lucky to have him." the redhead kindly said. "It’s obvious that he loves you."
You blushed at the remark and you continued on your way. As soon as you knocked on the door, Sanji immediately opened it with a big smile before kissing you excitedly and pulling you into the room.
The bathroom had been completely redecorated. The main light was off and had been replaced by a myriad of candles that smeared the room and illuminated it with a soft, flickering and welcoming hue whose intimate atmosphere was accompanied by the rose petals deposited everywhere. On the furniture, the floor, where it formed a graceful path towards the bathtub, and finally in the latter where the flowers overhung the hot water covered with a white foam that looked like pieces of cloud in the half-light. A sweet smell of cotton and flowers evaporated from the hot water and perfumed the room. On the side of the bathtub, he had specially folded the towels so that they fit into a pyramid among the petals. Dazzled by the atmosphere and the efforts he had put into it, you didn't know what to say. Suddenly, you felt him press against your back before wrapping his arms around your waist and placing a kiss on your neck. His skillful hands, which he took so much care of, then began to undress you while he spoke in your ear.
However, as you took over and the excitement also rose on your side, you finally found yourself in your underwear in front of him and his charming face froze. You felt in your stomach that something had changed in the mood.
"You're not wearing the lingerie I gave you?" he asked, and though his voice was kind, you sensed something was wrong.
You looked down and looked at your lingerie set, which was very pretty but was indeed not one of those that Sanji had offered you.
"This one looked great on the mannequin." he continued in the same oddly amiable tone. "But I told you that I was preparing a surprise for you. You couldn't at least wear the ones I brought you?"
A feeling of shame intensified in your mind in the form of a huge lump that settled in your throat. Under his judgmental gaze, you felt the urge to cover yourself, ashamed of your body and the clothes you had chosen to cover it.
"I spent the afternoon preparing a surprise for you and you can't even do that for me. I've been collecting these damn candles and flowers for weeks on different layovers so you don't realize it. And you come like that?"
"I can go change if you want?" you asked, ashamed.
He then took a cigarette out of his pocket and lit it with annoyance, then exhaled dryly the smoke which polluted the sweet smell in the room. He put the lighter back in his pocket and turned on his heel.
"It’s no use, you’ve already ruined everything." he huffed, irritated. "All those efforts were stupidly ruined, you're lucky I love you. I'm the only one dumb enough to do that."
And he left, leaving you alone in your underwear in the bathroom, which now smelled of cigarettes, next to this bathtub with the foam half gone, and surrounded by those thousand petals and candles that had lost their sparkle.

You were running but you didn't know where you were in the boat, you were totally confused and lost.
A long time ago, you didn't know exactly how much, you wanted to leave the ship to have a drink with a local with whom you had gotten along well. You had prepared yourself, ready to leave, but before you walked through the door, you had passed out. When you woke up, you were tied up somewhere in the dark. After a while Robin ended up finding you but, when you started begging her to free you, she told you that it was she who had locked you up.
From that moment on, the shock had finally dissipated and given way to fear. You had known her for years of sailing together and if there was one thing you knew about Robin, it was that she was the type of person to follow through on the things she cared about. She came almost every day into the room to talk to you or simply to look at you. Only that. But today, you don't know how, your ties have loosened enough for you to escape. You then waited for her to make her daily visit while praying that she would not notice the state of your restraints.
You then counted to one hundred as soon as she left before escaping.
So you found yourself running through the corridors that you guessed were the Thousand Sunny but, in your blind panic, you were unable to find your way. After a while, at the corner of a corridor, you saw a lighter spot on the wall a few meters away. You recognized the shape of an ear sticking out of the wall as you approached. You immediately stopped as quietly as possible near the wall and didn't move. You cover your mouth with your hand to stifle your wheezing. The ear moved a little but remained still. After a minute without any new movement, you felt your heart begin to slow down with relief. Suddenly, a small "boing" sounded in one of your ears and something soft touched your cheek. You turned your head to the wall beside you, where the noise was coming from, and fell face-to-face with a dull blue eye watching you. Horrified, you could only watch as the azure iris bore into your eyes.
You immediately started running again but it was too late.
You could only make a few steps before a hold on your ankle knocked you down. In the process, you felt a hundred arms and hands come to cover you and pin you to the ground. You felt them rest and press on your calves, your thighs, your back and even your neck and your head. Some encircled their palms around your ankles and wrists while others held you down with pressure. As you wanted to scream - lost for lost - you felt a hand grow on your shoulder and come crashing down on your mouth to drown out any noise you might make. Paralyzed, you could only let it happen when an arm blossomed between your shoulder blades so that a hand slipped into your hair to hold your head back. Now looking up, you saw Robin appear at the end of the corridor before quietly approaching you on her long legs. She walked over to you before kneeling down next to your head, keeping eye contact.
"Did you really think I wasn’t watching you?" she asked in her lifeless tone.

The inn is warm and inviting as you step through the heavy front door, the heat from the lit fireplace warming your icy skin as you enter the building. While winter has almost come and gone, and the spring season teases its arrival, the fresh cold air that lingers outside still covers the land with its icy grip. You take in a deep breath as the warmth from inside envelopes you, savoring the warmth as you admire the rustic interior of the small inn.
Fire crackles from the fireplace, a light glow filling the room. The light dances on the display of unique mugs that hang with grace from the wooden beams that line the ceiling above you. Fairly lights are strung up and intertwined with vines around the beams, adding to the soft and warm glow of the room.
You wander into the middle of the room, your fingertips tracing the small crevices and grooves that line the wooden tables. The table feels smooth under your touch, the wood itself worn down and smooth as well. Setting down your backpack on the stool beside you, you roll your stiff shoulders and hear your bones cracking with relief as they loosen up again. The long train ride across state lines had been tough, with your body screaming to stretch and move after only an hour of being confined in the cramped cabin.
The clock above the fireplace ticks, catching your attention as you read the time. You frown to yourself as you look back around the empty bar. The clock had just ticked over nine-thirty, you would have expected at least one person in the bar at this time of night.
You turn at the sound of a door opening as a soft hummed tune flows through the room. A girl with black hair tied in a bun and a light dust of freckles littering her face walks through a door behind the bar. Her eyes are cast down to a glass shes cleaning with a rag and with a smile on her face as she slowly sways to the music playing in her headphones.
“Excuse me?” You try to gain her attention without startling her, but your effort is futile as she turns away from you and sets the glass down before grabbing another.
You lean against the bar with your arms crossed, your eyes roaming the room as you wait for her to turn back around. Suddenly, there's a startled gasp, as if caught in surprise. She yanks the headphones out of her ears, and her breath is labored with shock. She stares back at you, her eyes meeting yours for the first time.
“Oh fuck, I didn’t hear you come in.” She lets out a huff of a laugh, her mouth twitching into a smile as she realises her mistake.“I’m sorry about that,” she says, apologetically throwing her headphones on the bar in front of you and leaning against it with her hands. “We don’t normally get people in this late on a Tuesday” She shrugs, her face and body language seemingly relaxed despite the initial shock.
“That’s okay, I’m normally not out this late if I’m honest.”
“No? So what’s got you visiting the great Firefly Inn this late at night?” She smirks as she leans over the bar.
“Dina stop flirting with the poor girl.” Another girl teases as she walks out of the back room, rolling her eyes as she jumps to sit on the counter behind Dina.
Dina scoffs.
“Don’t you have a boyfriend anyway?” Ellie leans over and takes an apple from the fruit bowl, raising her eyebrows at her friend.
Dina turns around and snatches the apple from her hand before she’s able to take a bite and takes a bit for herself as Ellie frowns at her.
“No actually, we broke up again.” She shrugs as she takes another bite of the apple.
“Again?” Ellie groans, leaning back until her head hits the wall behind her.
You look between the two teenagers, feeling like you’re imposing on their private conversation. You wait patiently for one of them to acknowledge your presence, but they continue to bicker back and forth like children. They seem almost oblivious to any other presence besides their own, their voices growing louder and their playful arguments becoming more passionate with each turn of phrase.
“Is there any chance I could get a room for the night?” You attempt to break their conversation and their heads snap in your direction, successfully silencing them.
There’s a moment of awkward silence as the three of you stare at each other, no one seeming to know what to say or do. Your request finally registers in Dina’s head, and she smiles slightly in embarrassment, breaking the tension between the three of you.
“Oh fuck. Yeah of course.” She mumbles as she dashes into the room out the back and returns with a thick book you assume is for the bookings.
Dina scribbles down your details while Ellie crunches on the apple she successfully stole back from her friend, her smug smile suggesting that the victory tasted a lot sweeter than the apple itself.
Dina leads you up a set of stairs to the second level of the inn, the candles that line the narrow hallway casting a soft and flickering glow around the vicinity. She unlocks an adjacent room and hands you the key, the space itself offering a warm and cozy atmosphere that feels more like a private home than a room at an inn.
You mumble a thanks as you step into the room, about to close the door behind you. Dina's foot suddenly blocks your attempt, jamming the door from closing completely. She smiles sweetly at you as you glare at her through the crack in the door, the exhaustion from the journey and the teenager starting to wear on your patience.
“Breakfast is at eight, if you want any.” She offers and removes her foot from the door and disappears down the dimly lit hallway.
“Weird.” You sigh as you close the door, making sure to lock it.

The town square is buzzing with activity as you walk down the main street, the morning's chill and overcast skies making the townsfolk more eager to get to their destinations inside the warmth of the next building.
Children are out and about, laughing and racing on their bikes as they speed by you with little to no regard towards any other pedestrians in their way. They seem to be racing each other to get to school in time, their speed increasing with each turn in the road.
With the dull gray skies overhead, the fairy lights strung across the town square provide a much-needed burst of warmth and cozy charm to the town's atmosphere. The lights glow dimly and softly, reflecting off of the damp pavement and casting a gentle glow against the trees and other surfaces that the lights have been tied to. You find yourself smiling at the sight, drawn in by the comforting atmosphere of the town and the familiar charm of the lights. You could definitely see yourself making a life here, and the thought makes you feel a sense of calm and happiness.
You don’t remember living here as a child, but you would have remembered this.
Your eyes scan across the town square as if searching for something to give you a further boost of energy after the tiredness of the morning, and there it is. A coffee shop sign, the words and colors of the sign beckoning you in like a magnet. You let out a yawn that seemingly came from your bones, your eyelids feeling heavier and your body screaming for a caffeine boost to help pick you up.
The bell above the door rings as you enter the cafe, the soft jingle announcing your presence. It's a small and quaint cafe on the inside with a few tables scattered throughout the middle of the shop. Brown leather couches are pushed up against a rustic brick wall where an older woman is seated with a book in her hands. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the smell of freshly brewed coffee filling the cafe.
Walking up to the display case, you notice it’s full of pastries and cakes and your mouth waters at the sight.
You hear the familiar ding of the bell as it rings again, grabbing your attention from the mouth watering food. Ellie, the girl from last night, walks in with an older man following in behind her. He looks just as tired as you feel, his dark brown eyes heavy with sleep as he holds the door open as she passes through, and she gives him a small smile in return before she bee-lines to the counter. There’s a smirk on her face as she leans over the counter, reaching for the bell and obnoxiously hitting the bell.
“I thought I hid that.” The tired sigh of the barista behind the counter is a testament to the constant and obnoxious dinging of the bell. His back is turned as he finishes making a drink, seemingly used to the incessant noise that constantly plagues his ears.
“Not well enough Jesse boy.” She draws out his name, as if to mock him and his inability to hide the bell. There are a few annoyed glances from other customers who are growing resentful of her loud and disruptive behavior, but she remains unfazed as she continues to hit the obnoxious bell as if it were a toy.
The older man that walked in with her shakes his head in disappointment as he reaches over and takes the bell from her. A small frown settles on her face as she watches him take it from her, her mood being spoiled as she realizes she cannot continue her disruption. She lets out a small and annoyed huff as he places the bell on top of the display case, where his eyes meet yours for a brief moment. His face settles in a soft frown as he looks at you, muttering fuckin’ tourist under his breath before returning his attention to the girl by his side.
Your face shows your shock at the rudeness of the older man, your eyebrows shooting up in surprise. You shake your head in disbelief, still unable to process that someone could behave so rudely to a stranger. “Grumpy old man” You mutter under your own breath.
 You look back down at the pastries, feeling a bit put off after the interaction but still considering what to buy.
“Come on kiddo, enough of that.” He mutters as he digs his wallet from his back pocket.
Hmm, maybe a croissant, or a muffin?
The barista turns around with a grin, pushing two mugs onto the counter. “A hot chocolate for the troublemaker,” he says, gesturing to Ellie as he pushes the mug towards her. “And a black coffee for the poor tired soul that has to put up with her,” he jokes, pushing the second mug towards the older man standing beside her.
Maybe a cinnamon roll?
“You got that right.” The man softly chuckles as he takes out his card.
“Whatcha say Joel, you want your usual breakfast or are you finally going to try something else? We make mean waffles here.”
“Just the bacon and eggs.”
The muesli slice looks good.
“Alright, alright. I’ll change your mind one of these days.” The barista, Jesse, sighs with a grin as he taps the order into the tablet. “What about you Ellie?” He asks without looking up from the screen.
“Nah, not hungry.”
“Oh come on kid, you gotta eat something.”
“I’m not hungry Joel.” She shrugs as she crosses her arms over her chest.
A woman with dark brown hair boxed braided and tied neatly into a bun walks in, her eyes quickly scanning the crowded café until they land on you.  Her eyes instantly lock onto yours, her warm smile signaling that you're the person she's looking for. She politely asks, "Am I right to assume you're Rose's granddaughter?"
"Oh, yeah that's me." You respond awkwardly, a bit taken aback by the familiarity of the woman's question. You have no idea who this woman is or why she's so familiar with you, and she seems to know more about you than you do about her.
“I thought so. I’m Maria, the Mayor of Jackson. I knew Rose very well,” She smiles warmly, her hand resting on your shoulder as she mentions your grandmother. “I’m sorry about what happened, she was a lovely lady.”
You nod along to her words, a vague sense of familiarity dawning on you as you try to recall where you heard that name before. As she continues to offer her condolences, you remember her name from the letter your grandmother sent you. You thank her for her condolences and look back at the display case.
“I recommend the white chocolate and raspberry muffin.” She points to the muffin and you nod at her offer. “I get it every morning.”
Jesse takes one of the white chocolate muffins from the display and places it into a paper bag, placing it on the counter alongside a takeaway coffee. “All ready for you Maria.” He calls out and she politely dismisses herself from your conversation.
You watch from the side as she pays and thanks the young boy for her order.
The woman turns back to you with a smile and a friendly gesture. "Now, I do have a few things in my office for you," she begins, her voice sounding genuinely friendly and welcoming. "If you want to come by today, I can give them to you and show you the farm?" she offers.
You quickly take her offer, explaining that you were already on your way to her office before stopping by the cafe.
You step towards the counter as the woman leaves, Jesse humming to himself as he wipes over the counter. He looks up at you as he notices your presence, a smile appearing on his face as he offers a warm greeting. "What can I get for you?" he asks, tossing the cloth aside.
You place your order, deciding on taking up Maria’s recommendation and a dirty chai.
Your eyes are instantly drawn to a small table by the window, the sunlight gleaming through the room and illuminating the table as though spotlighting it for you. The bookcase behind the table shows a small collection of books and board games, all seemingly put in a neat and orderly fashion. The entire room feels clean and organized, as if everything has been placed in just the right location and given the proper focus.
You take a seat at the small table by the window and ease into a comfortable position. As you relax, you start to scroll through your emails, going over the updates about the delivery of your belongings. According to the tracking and updates, your belongings should be arriving by tomorrow, and you hope that everything goes smoothly without any unexpected delays.
Movement outside catches your eyes, and you glance out through the window. You notice Ellie and Joel sitting on one of the benches outside, Jesse setting down Joel's breakfast as Ellie continues to talk to him. The two of them laugh at something Ellie is saying as Joel rolls his eyes and shakes his head in a playful and mock frustrated way.
There’s a waffle on Joel’s plate and he shakes his head, shooing Jesse away.
Your eyes find themselves involuntarily drawn to the back of Joel, the short brown hair that curls slightly at the ends and the few soft grays that are starting to sprinkle his head. The thick brown jacket he wears looks cozy and well-worn, a clear indication of years of use and comfort.
He hands Ellie his buttered toast and she shakes her head. He must say something because she sighs dramatically and takes the bread from him.
“Happy?” You can read her lips as she talks.
Joel nods.
You look away, not wanting to be caught staring.
Tumblr media
You’re dreaming. You have to be dreaming. A dream is the only reasonable explanation for the check in your hand.
Half a million dollars.
“There has to be some sort of mistake?”
“I can assure you, there’s no mistake here.” Maria assures you, setting her hands on her desk as she gestures to the check.
You're sitting across from Maria in her large office at the town hall. The light wood furniture in the space is sleek and simple in style, the minimalist design giving the office a clean and welcoming atmosphere. The room is filled with natural light thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows behind her, the sunlight breaking through the gray clouds reflecting off of the wood furniture and making the room feel bright and airy.
A few photo frames sit proudly on her desk. There’s one on her wedding day, kissing her husband with a smile on his face. Then there’s one next to it, the two of them holding a new born baby in a hospital bed, smiling down like proud parents.
Your eyes are frozen on the check though, the number staring back at you as you struggle to comprehend it. You're at a loss for words as your brain tries to wrap itself around the amount listed on the check, Maria's light chuckle drawing your attention.
She digs around in her draw momentarily before setting another note on the table.
“This is a lot to take in, I’m sure. This is a list of everything she did for the town. It’s rather long but if you want to pick up anything she did, you can. No one is expecting you to replace Rose, honestly I don’t think anyone could,” she slides over the list and your eyes widen more at the long list of jobs she did around town.
Farming of fruit Farming of vegetables Farming of flowers Raise cows, provide dairy products Raise Chickens, provide eggs Raise sheep, provide wool Beekeeper, provide honey Fishing, provide fresh fish Deep diving, cleaning ocean Volunteering at town events
You slowly look up at Maria with a raised eyebrow. “I can’t do all this, this is crazy.” You scoff as you look back down at the list.
She laughs at that, sighing and agreeing with you. “She was a very busy woman. But if you want to continue her farm or sell it, let me know. I’ll help you in any way I can. Rose was an outstanding member of our community. If you do decide to continue the farm, even just doing one of these, it’ll be a massive help.”
You let out a sigh, sinking into the chair as you read over the list again. Your grandmother sounds impressive and you wish you had known her, or at least remembered her.
Farming doesn’t sound too bad?
“Alright then, show me the farm. Let’s see what I’m dealing with.”
Tumblr media
You stand before the front door to your grandmother's house, a place long forgotten and now abandoned. Cobwebs and critters are scattered all across the exterior of the house, the once meticulously maintained walls now covered in unkept vines that are slowly crawling their way up the structure. The exterior has an eerie and uninviting aura to it, as if the place has been left to become an echo of time lost to memories.
At the center of the front door hangs a small piece of paper, its edges frayed and fluttering in the breeze as the rusty nail it's held to struggles to keep it in place.
Heard someone was moving back in to Rose's place, if you need a hand rebuilding, let me know. Joel Miller ps. I used to work in construction, I know what I'm doing.
You rip the note off the front door and sigh as you look back over the farm, its beauty all but fallen apart since your grandmother's absence. The farm, once a beautiful and lively space, seems almost lifeless now. The plants are all unkempt and overgrown, most of them withered and dry while others are covered in a thick layer of weeds. It's a sad sight, one that reminds you of how much time has passed since she was last here.
How long it's been since you've been here.
“Who’s Joel Miller?” You ask as Maria follows you up the stairs to the front porch.
“That would be my brother in law, owns a sheep ranch down the road. Why?”
You hand her the note and huffs in surprise at the note. “That’s oddly nice of him. Guess he always had a soft spot for Rose. But don’t expect that from him, he can be a bit…” She trails off her sentence, her face scrunching up in thought.
“Rude?”
“Oh so you’ve met him then?” She laughs.
“I think so, took one look at me and muttered ‘fuckin’ tourist’” You try your best to impersonate his southern accent and Maria lights up at your attempt.
“Yep, that sounds just like Joel. But don’t take that personally, you’re not a fuckin’ tourist, you’re officially a Jackson resident.” She hands the keys to you and gestures towards the front door. “This is your home now.”
The sound of the door unlocking sends a nervous feeling through your stomach, your nerves already on edge from the anticipation of moving into your new home. The door creaks as it opens, a stale and musty smell filling your nose and signaling that the house had been shut up and sealed away for far too long.
The house is beautiful.
Your eyes take in the large entry as you step into the house, your eyes drawn to the two hanging black chandeliers with fake candles. A large black wooden sliding door can be seen to your left, and a set of glass doors in front of you leads out to the back porch.
You ease the black doors open, entering the open-floor plan space with a slow and careful step. The modern and rustic wooden kitchen fills your vision, a large dining room sitting to the left as you step over and slide your palms across the white counter tops. The space has been empty for a while, a thick layer of dust on the counters.
“She took a lot of pride in her home.” Maria speaks up as she follows you into the room.
“It’s beautiful.”
“Would you like a tour?”
“I’d love one.”
You follow along as Maria opens a set of dark wooden doors to the right of the kitchen, the door leading into a small laundry room that connects to the back porch. The laundry room is small but spacious, and the view out to the back porch over a pond is quite peaceful.
To the right of the kitchen, a wooden dining table is situated next to the glass windows that lead into the small greenhouse, the space filled with dead and rotting plants.
To the left of the dining table, a small living room that includes a fireplace and wide wooden stairs that lead to the second floor is also visible. Both the fireplace and the stairs have seen better days, their condition clearly being a testament to the neglect the house has seen.
She leads you upstairs, and as you enter the room at the top of the stairs, your jaw falls wide open at the sight. The room is vast and spacious, with its floor-to-ceiling windows on one wall offering a magnificent view of the pond and farm. Built-in bookshelves line the other two of the walls, with couches built in under the windows, giving the space a cozy and welcoming vibe. The books on the shelves display a wide variety of topics, from classic works of fiction to non-fiction books on various scientific subjects.
“Joel helped her do this.” Maria points towards the bookshelves and couches and you nod in awe.
“Maybe I will take him up on the offer to help.” You chuckle as she leads you into a room across from the top of the stairs. The bathroom is fairly run down and rusted, but you can see what it used to be like in all its glory. A cracked tub sits in the middle of the room with an open shower to your left.
Maria leads you to the bedroom, the final room of the upstairs, which is located to the left of the stairs. The room is decently sized, with a big window that faces out towards the farm. The window lets in plenty of lighting and fresh air. To the left of the room, there is a narrow corridor that leads to a small balcony.
“Is the power and water turned on?” You inquire, following her back downstairs to the ground level of the house.
She gives you a quick nod, confirming that she had already planned to have everything ready for your arrival. Everything had been taken care of before your arrival, ensuring that the utilities would be fully functional for you to use as soon as you move into the house.
“Well, it’s been wonderful to meet you. Rose used to talk about you a lot, so it’s been nice to meet you. If you need anything,” She digs through her bag before handing you her card. “Call me, I’ll do whatever I can to help.” She offers before leaving you alone in your new home.
You find Joel’s offer again that night, folded on a table in the entry way while you’re snooping around and attempting to sort through your grandmothers house — or you guess your own house now.
You sigh at the number scribbled at the bottom of the note. Did you really want the help of someone who was so rude to you?
As you look down at the note in your hand once more, you can't help but exhale.
“Fuck it,” you mutter as you enter his number into your phone before sending him a text.
Hey Joel, I just moved into Rose’s farm and found the note you left. Would love to take up your offer! - Fucking tourist
You smile to yourself as you send the text and hope to god that he remembers you from the cafe this morning.
Your phone vibrates as you get out of the shower that night.
Glad your not a tourist. We can grab coffee and discuss what needs doing. Tomorrow work for you? - Grumpy old man
You huff a laugh at his response, glad he has a sense of humor. You shake off the smile on your face, remembering how much of an asshole he was this morning. You text back agreeing to his offer and he sets a time for eight in the morning.
You drift off to sleep with a smile on your face, and you tell yourself that it’s not because of Joel but rather due to your own excitement and happiness about the move. He may be a rude asshole but he offered to help and from the looks of the house and farm, you’re going to need it.
And if Joel Miller wants to help, you’ll make him work.

🦝— jealous
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: nat tries to make you jealous by hanging out with travis. it backfires on her. warnings: 18+ MDNI, boot riding, bratty nat.
it’s taking everything in you not to make a scene right now. you were supposed to be hunting with nat, but she decided to take travis for some reason. you watch as he wraps his arms around her as they leave the cabin, and jealousy rears its ugly head as she doesn’t attempt to shrug it off. a sinking sensation materializes in the pit of your belly– what if he tries something with her out there? you let out an exasperated scoff, rushing to the attic ladder and climbing up before you cry in front of the girls. you slam the entrance shut, jumping in shock when you turn around and see someone by the window.
“sorry…didn’t know anyone was up here.” you apologize. –
it’s shauna, who is sitting in the window sill, writing in that journal of hers. she conceals it from you as if you could read her secrets from that far away. you walk towards her, opting to lay on one of the blankets on the floor and hide your face in your arms. “is everything okay?” shauna asks, closing up her journal and walking over to sit next to you.
“it’s nat.” you sigh. “i think she’s trying to make me jealous. with travis of all people.” you confide, turning your head towards her. you’re met with apologetic brown eyes. shauna scoots closer to you and rests her hand on your shoulder, rubbing in consolation. you melt into the touch and she smiles sweetly.
“don’t let it get to you. she’s crazy about you.” shauna reassures you. you know it’s true, you and nat are obsessed with each other but still– you can’t help but let jealousy overtake you. “nat would never cheat on you.”
“i know, i know. i just hate this feeling. why can she never tell me what’s going on with her?” you sigh, feeling annoyed with natalie. you love her, truly, but you wished she talked about her feelings with you more.
“maybe talk to her when she gets back?” shauna suggests, shrugging.
the hunting trips you and nat take usually last a little over an hour, mostly because you two were busy making out instead of hunting but it’s not your fault her lips are your favorite.
you just hope she’ll be back earlier than that.
Tumblr media
since you had time to kill, you decided to go out and cut some wood with jackie, who is currently sitting on a log looking pretty while watching you do all the work. you roll your eyes but continue to chop some pieces up for the fire later tonight.
“you could always help you know?” you tease, smirking softly. you didn’t mind it to be completely honest, you think she’d end up chopping off a leg if she attempted to help anyway.
as you bring the axe down to the last piece of wood, you hear nat’s muffled voice announcing that she and travis are back. you instantly feel dread fill your whole body. the rest of the girls come out to help with the animal they shot and shauna gives you an encouraging nod towards nat. you suck in a breath and walk towards her. she’s already looking at you, but quickly averts her gaze when she notices you walking towards you.
“i need to talk to you.” you cross your arms.
“then talk.”
you huff and drag her by the sleeve to the shed, shutting the door behind you with force. you hear her scoff at your roughness and the fire in you ignites.
“what’s your fucking problem?” you whisper-shout, trying to keep quiet so none of the other girls goes eavesdropping.
nat rolls her eyes at you. “nothing. i don’t have a problem.”
“clearly, you do if you’re going around trying to make me jealous using travis.” you retort. how can she stand here and lie to you?!
“this is what you dragged me in here for?” nat crosses her arms and leans back against the shed wall. “bullshit. i’m not trying to make you jealous.”
you walk towards her, getting up in her face before speaking. “you can never admit you’re in the wrong, can you, natty?” you see her lips shake before they turn tight-lipped. “you could’ve just told me you needed attention from me.”
her eyes droop for a moment, and you can see a faint bob in her throat as she swallows a big gulp. suddenly, she flips your position as she pins you against the wooden wall. “you’re right. i need your attention.” nat leaves hot-mouthed kisses against your neck. “think you can give it to me now?” her hands slip under your shirt, nails racking up your sides teasingly.
you hate how easily she can switch up like this, but you’re not complaining now. you hum in agreement and bring her in for a kiss, her tongue slipping into your mouth.
“use your words, pretty girl,” she says after pulling away from the kiss. there’s playfulness dancing in her eyes as she awaits your confirmation, thumb rubbing against your lips in the meantime.
“yes. let me give it to you, please, natty?” you beg, desperation replacing any annoyance you felt towards her earlier. you grip the sides of her shirt, trying to cling to her.
“get down on your knees.”
almost immediately, you do as she says. the smirk she gives you as you look up at her makes you throb. nat brings her hand to your chin and coos. “such an obedient little thing for me.” she chuckles at your small whine.
nat steps closer, moving her right foot in front of your center. you start to shake with excitement– you know what she’s doing. you steadily bring your hand up to her leg, scooting your body until you’re sitting on her boot. you let out a needy moan as you gently start to grind against it.
“good girl. keep going.” nat praises. she unbuckles her belt and brings her jeans and underwear down to her thighs, shoving your face in her pussy. you inhale her scent before sticking out your tongue and licking a stripe up to her clit, sucking it into your mouth.
you feel her lift her boot, rubbing against your throbbing clit in just the right way. “fuck, natty.” your voice is muffled. you grip her leg tighter, feeling like a dog in heat as you hump her boot. her hand that’s tangled in your hair gets firmer as the vibrations from your moans help her get off.
“fuck…loveyouloveyouloveyou,” she repeats, voice getting whinier by the minute. “cum with me, baby.”
you decide to stick out your tongue completely and just let her grind against it– that’s all you can do right now since your brain is going all fuzzy from the feeling of her leather boot against your clothed pussy. you both orgasm at the same time, moaning each other's names as you do so.
nat pulls you back up to her height and kisses you, arms slipping around your neck. “love you so much.” she rests her forehead against yours, stroking your cheek with care. “promise i’ll get better at this whole ‘telling you my feelings’ thing.” she chuckles softly.
“love you too, natty.”

Electric summer Ch. 2
Tumblr media
Here is chapter 2! I love everything about this story so far it’s so fun to write and I adore writing Sy! It was so weird I was modeling this after my time at camp and I literally got a brochure from them in the mail today😂 maybe the universe is telling me something 👀
Anyway enjoy! Comments, likes and weblogs are encouraged!
Summary: Sy and ofc are united as camp co-counselors and spend the day catching up and reminiscing!
Warnings:none? Just cursing a lil
Link for Pt 1 if you missed it 🥰
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I blinked a few times in disbelief. “How, I-I…aren’t you…” I stammered trying to string a sentence together, still lost in the puzzle my brain was trying to work out. How was he standing here in front of me right now?
“Come here,” He laughed. Throwing his arm around my shoulder and pulling me into a tight hug. I was still for a moment still in shock about the situation but I pulled myself out of it and hugged him back squeezing just as tight.
“I can’t believe it,” He chuckled. “This had to be Rebecca’s doing.” He said.She was an old counselor of ours. She was with us our last summer together.She also happened to be camp director now and in charge of assigning cabin groups. This was surely not a coincidence. Sy’s arms were still around me. Admittedly I wasn’t ready to pull away just yet either. I was afraid he’d disappear and this would all be a dream. My mind was playing tricks on me or something.
“How are you here?” I finally strung the question together, pulling back to look up at him. Did he get taller? I could have shrunk but I swear he got taller. “I mean aren’t you in the military?” I asked, obviously confused.
“Take a walk with me?” he asked. “I’ve been dying to see this place again.” He added. I nodded and we finally let go of each other. It may have been years since we’d seen each other but I could still read him. Logan was social. He loved to talk, he was extremely expressive and attentive. Right now he’s quiet. And pensive. When we walked away from the cabin he shoved both hands in his pockets staring straight ahead. Whatever had happened it was difficult for him. Like the night on the lake in the canoe. When he told me he wouldn’t be coming back to camp. It’s why he wouldn’t look at me. He knew or was afraid that after all this time I could tell when something was hard for him.
He hated coming off as weak. It’s why he was so competitive. When the boys played ultimate frisbee his team always won. In high school when he played football he was the quarterback. He had to be the best. The strongest. The leader. But not with me. He told me that once. He told me even before our summer fling, back when all we were was best friends excited to spend the summer together. That’s why he liked me so much. He could let his guard down with me. I didn’t understand it then. But eventually I figured out exactly what he meant. And I saw it in him now. Even when we’d only been reunited for minutes.
We walked from my cabin and through the park out to an open field outside the woods. There was a path that ran alongside it. If you took it left it would take you to the lake down to the dock to swim, if you followed it further you crossed a bridge and you could go sailing or take out a kayak or a canoe. If you took the path right it was a hiking trail. It had its own forks in the road one leading to a nature preserve and a small shelter where the camp housed some exotic reptiles and other animals. And one that led to a ropes course and a rock climbing station. We didn’t take either path. Sy stopped walking and stared off at the trees. I came up next to him and gently put my hand on his shoulder.
“You don’t have to tell me, we don’t have to talk about it, whatever it is. I’m just really glad you’re here.” I spoke softly. I felt his hand over mine on his shoulder and he turned to me with a sad smile. He let out a deep breath before he spoke
“I’m retired from the military. Uh, discharged. Medically.” He stared at the grass when he spoke. I could hear the shame in his voice. It broke my heart. I slid my hand off his shoulder and over his back soothingly. I didn’t say anything. He knew I was listening. “Last April, I was leading the boys into a raid. We’d been waiting on this for weeks. Trying to find these guys. Somehow they got tipped off that we were comin’ and they were ready. One of my boys was being attacked. Enemy came out of nowhere. I jumped to cover him. Told him to run up stairs with the rest of the guys to secure the building. He was alright. His chest plate protected him. But I got shot in the leg with 2 bullets. I managed to stop the attacker. But I had to be carried out of there. They sent a Med-line, it's a helicopter.” He explained. I nodded and let him keep talking.
“I was in surgery that night. They almost thought I was gonna have to lose it. But the Dr was able to get the bullets out. They uh, didn’t think I’d walk right again. So.. I was discharged from the military not long after. They transferred me to a civilian hospital for physical therapy…” He trailed off.
“How is it now?” I asked softly. He finally looked up from the grass. My voice pulled him back to reality.
“I ain’t gonna be runnin’ in the Olympics anytime soon but. Normal. Aches sometimes when the weather gets weird or cold. Probably coulda went back but no one knew how long it would take. Or if…if I’d ever get better.” He said.
“They should’ve known,” I said, “nothing stops Logan Syverson when he’s got his mind made up.” There it was. That genuine smile I’d missed all these years.
“Guess they don’t know me like you do,” He chuckled. “Enough about me, it’s been 7 years darlin what have I missed?” he asked, his hand hovering over my lower back guiding me toward the left path. We started to walk again toward the lake.
“I wish I could say you missed a lot but,” I shrugged. “I graduated. Went to school and graduated again, and at the end of this summer I’ll finally start my first job with the schools.” I explained flatly. It was nothing compared to the things he’d done and what he’d seen.
“Hey, graduating college is a big deal. I’m proud of you! Child Psychology, right?” He asked. I stopped walking and just stared.
“You, remember that?” I questioned. He laughed and threw his arm around my shoulder pulling me into his side.
“Of course I do. It was all you talked about our last summer together. You were nervous about getting into the school you wanted. I admired that because you were only a junior. I was going into my senior year and I’d never even thought about that shit.”
“But you knew you were going into the military, you didn’t have to think about that.” I argued.
“Maybe, but you were so smart, you are so smart, you had it all figured out. I was just following what everyone else in my family did. Now that I’m out, I kinda wish I’d had some other plan. Something I knew I wanted to do to fall back on.” I nodded. I understood what he meant. It must be hard for him now. The things he’d aspired to be in his adolescence had come and passed. He had to reinvent himself now. Start over. I couldn’t imagine how scary that must feel.
“You’re smart too Logan. You’re quick in a crisis. You’re logical and level headed. You’re great with people. And and from what you’ve said you’re an incredible leader. I have no doubt you’ll figure it all out soon.” We had wandered some more, now we were walking along the lake. Or what we knew as the beach. When they’d built the camp they carved out the shore and laid down sand. Leaving it more like mini beach than a country lake. I followed Logan out onto the dock. He turned to me and smiled.
“I think coming back here this summer was exactly what I needed.” He said. I smiled back giving his arm a gentle squeeze… and trying not to dwell on the fact that his muscles had gotten incredibly larger.
“It’s funny,” I answered. “I always remember it being the other way around, you giving me pep talks and encouraging me to take risks.” He chuckle the air between us becoming lighter as I watched his smile form into a playful smirk.
“That’s because you were always trying to chicken out. You were a little scaredy cat.” He laughed. I pouted. And smacked him in the arm. “Ow,” he teased as he fake soothed his arm.
“I was not!” I argued. He shook his head.
“You were too!” He challenged. I rolled my eyes resting my hands on my hips.
“Name one time,” I groaned. He eyed me with that same smirk on his face with an eyebrow raised looking at me curiously.
“You really wanna do this? He teased. “Alright, you did this to yourself, night hikes.” He stated. I frowned.
“Oh that is so not fair!” I objected. “You know I hate the dark. That doesn’t count!” I argued.
“Mhmm, rock climbing.” he deadpanned. I scoffed.
“I suck at climbing I have like no upper-body strength I wasn’t gonna embarrass myself infront of everyone.” I defended. He shook his head again trying to hold back a laugh.
“You’d never done it before. You had no idea if you were bad at it or not!”
“Okay, well… it was really high.” I pouted.
“My point exactly,” He chuckled.
“That means nothing!” I said. He groaned pinching the bridge of his nose.
“You wouldn’t even jump off the dock into the water that first summer! Because the water was deeper. You knew how to swim.” His shoulders were shaking with laughter. “You remember how I got you to do it?” He asked.
“Yeah you literally picked me up threw me in off the dock! I wound’t call that being “kind and encouraging.” I laughed emphasizing the last bit.
“It worked,” He smirked.
“It was traumatizing.” I countered.
“ I caught you blushing when I grabbed you, I think you liked it.” He winked. I glared at him crossing my arms.
“You have no proof,” I scoffed. He smirked, a mischievous glint in his eye.
“You wanna test that theory?” He raised an eyebrow taking a step closer to me. My eyes went wide and I started to back up slowly.
“Logan,” I said softly. He looked me over that cocky grin plastered on his face.
“I’d start runnin’ if I was you.” He challenged. I backed up a little more, holding my hands up in defends.
“You don’t have to do this.” I reasoned with him. He let out a low chuckle.
“I think we both know I do.” He said. “Last chance darlin’” He teased. I turned on my heal quickly back toward the beach. Only getting in a few long strides before he had his arm around my waist. Damn his long legs. It doesn’t help that mine are so short either. I squealed as he lifted me off the ground in his arms.
“No! Logan please!”
“I warned ya, told you to start running sooner.” His voice was deep in my ear as he carried me to the end of the dock and I wrapped my arms around his neck for some sort of safety net. “Would you look at that.” He smirked, looking down at me in his arms. Bastard. Of course he was right. After all this time he still had the same effect on me.
“Oh shut up!” I rolled my eyes. Which was a bold move for someone in my current position.
“You’re blushin’, after all this time, I still get your heart racing.” He rasped.
“My face is red because I was running, and it’s ..it’s warm out here.” I argued.
“You took 3 steps, you weren’t running,” He smirked. “You’re just too stubborn to admit you still feel it.” He whispered against my ear. I felt hot. And it had nothing to do with the sun glaring down on us on the pier. It had been 7 years. Did we even know each other anymore? And…he ..he left. That hurt so bad. What if he leaves again. I don’t think I could handle losing him a second time. We’re in totally different parts of our lives than we were then. But at the same time… “Answer one thing for me, all this time, did you see anybody else? Let anyone else in? I don’t see a ring on your finger.” He raised an eyebrow looking down at me intently. I swallowed hard and swatted at his chest.
“Put me down Sy!” I whined. He jostled me in his arms threatening to drop me in the water.
“You want down?” He smirked. I squealed, wrapping my arms tighter around his neck.
“Logan, Don’t!” I chided. He chuckled, adjusting his grip under my thighs. He leaned in close. I could feel his breath against my ear, his beard tickling my skin.
“Tell me, I just wanna hear it. Did you wait for me?” He sounded like honey. The way his voice hummed in my ear. He always did. It had been so long since we’d stood this close, or been this close and I could feel myself still magnetized to him. It’s like he lit up every sense in my body. I had no choice but to follow his warmth and his chaos and his light. I never felt anything like it with anyone else.
“ Sy you know, I …” Before I could answer him he leaned forward and tossed me into the water. I screamed and heard him chuckle before I hit the water. It was still a little cold since summer had only just started. As I started to come back up to the surface I heard a huge splash a few feet away from me. Logan jumped off the dock with me. When he surfaced he swam closer and I splashed him. “You’re such an ass!” I rolled my eyes. He laughed, swimming toward the shore.
“I had to distract you. You thought I wasn’t gonna do it,” He smirked.
“Yeah I thought maybe you were like a decent guy now or something!” I scoffed.
“Aww come on honey, don’t be mad at me, you know it’s not really summer till we take our first swim.”
“Yeah I know,” I smiled.
We left the lake, soaking wet and headed back to our cabins to dry off. I couldn’t get what he’d said out of my head. I knew it was killing him to know. Why did he stop me? After drying off and changing into some dry clothes I hung my wet clothes and towel out on our cabin's little clothing line. I dug through my bag to find a new pair of shoes, because those were soaked too, and headed over to Logan’s cabin where he was waiting at the picnic table. I walked over and hopped up sitting on the table top. Something I’d made a habit of during my years at camp. And it followed me everywhere. I sit on my countertop all the time. He looked up from where he’d been writing in a notebook on the table and smiled.
“Feel better?” he asked.
“Now that my feet aren’t in squishy wet sneakers? Yeah much better, no thanks to you.” I laughed.
“Did you have fun?” He raised an eyebrow. I groaned.
“Yeah,” I muttered. He had a proud grin on his face.
“Well then you’re welcome.” He mused. I rolled my eyes and flickered my gaze down to his notebook.
“Whatcha working on?” I asked curiously. He leaned back looking down at the list one hand smoothing over his beard.
“Trying to remember all of the camp traditions. The games we played. Ice breakers things like that. Trying to set up a bit of a plan or a loose schedule before the kids get here tomorrow. I don’t know if the boys' cabins still do their prank war, but I’m bringing it back.” He said seriously.
“Ah yes, the infamous prank war, you were ruthless. But your cabin always came out victorious.” I giggled. His eyes met mine and he just smiled holding my gaze for a moment. I shook myself out of it before I could let him in too deep. “What else you got?” I prodded. He sighed. And his eyes went back to the paper in front of him, trying to hide the disappointment on his face.
“Uh, Just some of the group games we used to play, Red rover, capture the flag, the coed softball game. Shit like that.But I just wanna make sure we get everyone comfortable when they get here ya know? I always felt…”
“Safe? When we were here. Me too.” I nodded.
“Just wanna be sure everyone’s having a good time like we did. Whatever problems we were having back home, in our family, or friends, kids that were dealing with bullies, we left it behind. We didn’t tolerate anyone being left out. Just want that for our campers.” He said.
“You’re really passionate about this.” I added.
“Aren’t you, I mean, you loved this place as much as I did, … do.” He added. I nodded.
“Of course I am. I’m just really glad that you are too. I’m glad that my co-counselor is someone who loves and appreciates this place and the kids as much as I do!” I smiled. “I’ve got this book of icebreaker games. We can go through it after our counselor meeting. Find the ones we think are best fit.” I smiled. He nodded.
“Sounds great.”
Later that night after our meeting introducing and welcoming us all to camp and going over our rules and shifts, and after dinner we met in my cabin. We sat outside on the patio at the picnic table. We started flipping through the book and talking about each of the games. Some we had done when we were campers.
“Oh, here's a good one.” I said pointing to one of the pages. “Remember doing this one, ‘two truths and a lie’ we always had a lot of fun with that.
“I do! It was like being a cop trying to read a lie detector test. And trying to beat one. “He chuckled.
“You were good at it!” I laughed. “Like try me,” I nodded to him. He smiled, and cocked his head to the side thinking for a moment.
“Alright, I blew a tire going 90 down the highway last week. I shot my first gun when I was 10, or my brother broke my arm in a fist fight.”
“Jesus!” I laughed. “From the stories you told me about your brothers I wouldn’t doubt it. I know you like to drive fast but you take good care of your truck…I’m gonna say it’s the gun.” He shook his head.
“Nope, I broke his arm.” My eyes went wide and I tried to hold back my laughter.
“Your poor mother.” I giggled.
“She got used to it.” He smiled. “Your turn, see if you can fool me.” He said. I groaned. I never could trick him. He always knew. But maybe I could use this as an opportunity to answer his question back at the lake.
“Okay,” I nodded, “Uh, I have a short story published in a book. I..I’m still a virgin. I lost my phone on a cruise to Jamaica,” He looked at me quizzically, his bottom. Lip pulled between his teeth as his gears turned.
“There’s no way,” he finally spoke. “You’re not still a virgin. No way.” He added. I shook my head. My eyes met his.
“I’ve never been to Jamaica,” I said softly. He let out a shaky laugh.
“In seven years nobody.. Nobody’s tried?” He questioned.
“They’ve tried.” I said. “I tried.” I added. “I wanted to be over you. I tried to be mad at you, for leaving me. But I knew that was selfish. You didn’t leave me. Certainly not because you wanted to. You were fighting for me. For everyone you loved. I couldn’t be mad at you for that.” I admitted.
“I never intended to hurt you so bad. It hurt like hell leaving that summer.” He said.
“I know you didn’t,” I said. “When I went to college I tried so hard to put myself out there and meet other people, I went to a few parties. I made out on trashy frat couches. It was awful. I did go on a couple of dates. I convinced myself I had to. I was sure you’d moved on, found someone new. I liked them okay but it was nothing special. They weren’t… you.” I said. He nodded soaking in all the information I’d just given him.
“You have no idea how happy that makes me. To know that you were still thinking of me as much as I was thinking of you. I have to be honest with you. I slept around in high school. When we broke things off that summer I was just trying to shake it. I hate to say it but, I barely remember their names. But you’re wrong about one thing. I never found anyone, never had one serious relationship after that last summer. You said it darlin, they weren’t you.” He rested his hand on my knee softly caressing my skin with his thumb. I never thought. I’d be here again. At camp. With him. In this position all over again. I think somehow we were getting a second chance. I’m not sure I’m ready for that. But I’m willing to see what the universe has put right in front of me.
“Sy, all I wanted back then was to be with you. To kiss you. For you to be my first. I don’t know if I’m still the girl you knew then. If you still want this after all this time. I don’t know what I want, I’ve spent so much time trying to forget you and what this felt like I don’t know if I know how to do this anymore.” He saw the panic in my eyes. And his face softened. He reached up tucking my hair behind my ear his fingers resting on the back of my head, gently massaging with his fingertips.
“This is a lot, I know, it’s a lot for me too. What I want is the woman you are now. For us to learn how to be now. If it aint the same spark then maybe it’s not meant to be. But i’m not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth and let you go again. Not without saying we tried to give this a shot.” He said his eyes boring into mine My heart felt like it was overflowing with emotion. I nodded. It was all I could do. “There is one thing, we never got to do that summer that I can’t get out of my head.” He whispered.
“What’s that?” I asked.
“I never got to kiss you,” He stated almost breathless like it was a secret we’d been keeping for years. And a weight had now lifted off his shoulders.
“We never did, did we?” I blushed. He shook his head a gentle smile on his lips.
“It’s all can think about since I saw you again. That, and how you’re somehow even more beautiful.”
“Logan,” I blushed playfully shoving him.
“It’s true.” He said. I smiled.
“Well, are you gonna make a move or am I gonna have to make it for you?” Logan chuckled grabbing my waist to pull me closer and cupping my cheek. He leaned in his hot breath against my lips and…
“Hey you two!” Becca called from across the lawn. We jumped apart quickly. I could hear Logan groan no matter how hard he tried to hide it. “I just wanted to check in with you!” she said as she approached the cabin, “You settling in okay? Nervous about the kiddos or anything?” she asked. I shook my head.
“I’m a little nervous, not like I did much babysittin or anything,” Sy admitted. “But I’ve had plenty of practice with my brothers little rascals.” He laughed.
“Great!” She said. “Don’t be nervous, I’m so glad to have you guys back here, you’re our only counselrs this year that are camp alumni, and I always love having people that know the place well.” she smiled.
“It’s good to be back Becca! I never thought I’d see this place again!” I added.
“You know you’re always welcome!” She smiled. “Well I’ll leave you guys too it then, I’m so happy to see you two hear together again,” She winked. “Good night you two.”
“Well, she’s got impeccable timing.” Sy groaned. I giggled and squeezed his shoulder softly.
“This summers just getting started Sy,” I smiled. “I uh, better get some sleep, I was gonna get up early to decorate my cabin for the girls.” I said quickly. He nodded trying to hide his disappointment.
“Okay darlin’, I’ll see ya breakfast?” He asked. I nodded and turning and opening the door to my cabin
“I’ll see you then, goodnight Sy.”
“Goodnight Lainie,”
battinson! bruce wayne x f! reader
chapter five
Tumblr media
Summary: After the sudden deaths of your mother and grandmother, you’re forced to return home to Gotham…and to the man who broke your heart three years ago. Back in Bruce Wayne’s inescapable orbit, you vow to get to the bottom of your former best friend’s new cold personality. But Bruce’s secrets aren’t what you’re expecting. a
a/n: I won't lie, I love this chapter, especially because it shows one of my favorite things about this reader very clearly--the fact that she only has one braincell. She's been surprisingly fun to write, even with all of the angst!
Series Masterlist
word count: 2.6k
The doors opened with a noise so loud she winced.
When she looked up, she was face to face with a gun.
Y/n was afraid in a distant sort of way. It was, sadly, not the first time she’d been held at gunpoint pursuing a story. But the first time had been with a wire under her shirt and a whole bunch of cops around the corner.
This time, she was alone.
And the man on the other end of the gun was a cop.
“Shit,” Lieutenant Gordon said and, mercy of all mercies, put away his weapon. “What are you doing here?”
For some reason, the disappearance of the gun kicked the fear up a notch. Her heart suddenly tried to take flight. She took a deep breath, dizzy now, and managed to say, “Got a second for that interview?” Her voice was too high. Probably not the best time to crack a joke, but she obviously wasn’t thinking clearly.
Behind Gordon was a shadow.
No, a man.
The Batman.
His mouth was slightly parted, what she could see of his face…almost shocked.
“You two look awfully surprised to see that someone followed you. The blindingly bright light wasn’t very hard to find.” She should shut up, she thought distantly. She still wasn’t sure if they could be trusted. But the fear was ebbing away, slowly but surely.
Gordon pinched between his eyes, the movement pushing his glasses up to his forehead.
“There’s a locked gate that requires a code. There’s barbed wire.” He sounded like Alfred when she and Bruce had gotten into something they were told not to touch or do as kids. Tired dad voice, they called it, snickering behind his back.
She hooked her thumb in Batman’s direction. He still stood absolutely still, cape blowing in the breeze, his mouth closed now. “Followed this guy in.”
Gordon looked over at the vigilante. “This is the girl you–”
“I remember,” Batman said in that voice of gravel and smoke. It sent a thrill of fear through her. Actually, his voice was kind of sexy, now that she was thinking about it.
She was losing her mind. She had barely slept in a week and she was losing her mind. She was with two men she wasn’t sure if she could trust, on top of an abandoned building where it would be very easy to kill her, and she was thinking of sexy voices. Well, one sexy voice in particular. No offense to Gordon, she thought wryly.
“I’m also, um…a journalist.” This was directed at the vigilante. In her experience, honesty opened up more doors than it shut. She was usually pretty good at figuring out when to lie, particularly about her profession, and when to tell the truth. Or when to split the difference. She trusted her gut more often than not, and right now, she was relatively at ease. “Couldn’t help it, sorry.”
“So you just…” Gordon waved a hand vaguely.
“Followed the light? Yeah. I just hope it doesn’t lead to death like it usually does.” God, she needed to stop cracking jokes. She wasn’t out of the woods yet. “So if you’re going to murder me, can I please at least get a good quote first?”
“This concerns her anyway,” Batman said, shocking her so much that she nearly toppled over the edge of the tower. And–oh shit, the tower was really tall and had absolutely no walls or rails or anything to protect her from the drop. She took a shaky step back towards the elevator, but it had returned down below. Heights had never been her friend. An irony, Bruce liked to point out, because she lived in a tower. Then that would almost always start an argument about what “irony” meant.
“Are you sure?” Gordon said. The wind whistling in her ears made it hard to hear. She hoped the question wasn’t Are you sure we shouldn’t kill her? and was instead simply Are you sure we’re going to trust her?
“We can always throw her over,” he said. There was something almost familiar about his voice, she realized, but then the words caught up to her.
She gulped, dizzy again, but Gordon did a double take. “Did you just make a joke, man?”
The Batman gave no indication that it had been a joke. She gripped the pepper spray tighter. Not that it would help her if she got tossed over the side, but it made her feel a little better.
“He’s kidding, don’t worry. Tell her you’re kidding, she looks ready to puke.” Gordon crossed his arms, clearly not intimidated in the least by the hulking figure of the vigilante.
“I’m kidding,” the Batman said with a cutting glance towards Gordon. “I don’t kill people.”
She squinted at him, unable to clearly see him in the darkness. She really couldn’t tell if he was serious or not. She guessed he had to have at least some sense of humor about all of this. He was dressed as a fucking bat, after all.
She decided to trust them. “Okay, which means I’ll be really upset if you make an exception for me. I’ll haunt your ass. Yours too, Gordon, because supposedly you’re the only cop who isn’t corrupt in this city.” She crossed her arms and shivered. As long as she ignored the sheer drop surrounding her on three sides, she’d be fine. “Though I’m not convinced yet. I’ve been gone from Gotham for too long.”
“The force has changed a lot in a year.” Another look exchanged with the vigilante. “But I understand the sentiment.”
Y/n glanced around, keeping her eyes on the view instead of the drop. “So no one else has ever followed you up here?” she asked curiously. She saw what she was pretty sure was a spotlight on the far side of the platform. “Because seriously, the light is a dead giveaway.”
“His girlfriend did once,” Gordon said, and he smiled. “But no one else.”
“Wasn’t my girlfriend,” the Batman mumbled. Mumbled. He was suddenly less scary when he sounded like any surly man denying any attachment to a woman.
Her ears perked up. “Oh? She got a name?”
They both gave her looks that said they knew exactly what she was up to. She shrugged, the perfect picture of innocence. It was worth a shot.
She changed tactics. “You said this concerns me. What does?”
“The murders you witnessed,” Gordon said. “We found ties to the Gallo family. I was coming to fill him in.”
“The Gallo family,” she repeated. She knew this already, but better to play at ignorance in case they gave her more information. That and it hadn’t been confirmed by someone who was on the investigation team. “The mobsters in New York?”
“The very same.”
“Was the one who got away one of them?” she asked. Because that would be bad. Very bad.
“We didn’t get any information out of the other three. One…committed suicide not too long ago, actually. Part of why I’m here.” Gordon sighed. “Getting rid of Falcone created a vacuum. The Gallos are just the first ones powerful enough to fill the space.”
Falcone. She knew the name. Knew the story. Knew he’d been responsible for the deaths of Bruce’s parents. That was one death she hadn’t begrudged the Riddler–at least Thomas and Martha had gotten justice, in the end.
The Batman turned and looked over the city. His figure cut a dark shadow across the city skyline. “Any ideas where to start looking?”
“So you can bust some heads?” Gordon said. He was smiling. Y/n looked between them. It was fascinating. They were obviously close but this only confirmed it. She itched to take notes but she didn’t want either of them to snatch her phone. Damn, she should have set it to record when she was in the elevator. Gordon continued, “But no. We’re coming up empty so far. None of the typical informants have heard anything about the Gallo family. As far as we know, none of them are actually in the city. If they are, they’re laying low.”
“Could you identify them again?” Batman asked. His eyes glinted in the darkness as he faced her again. She noticed he hadn’t come any closer to her, unlike Gordon who was only a couple of feet away. Instead he was near the edge, about as far away from them as he could get. Was it to make her feel better, safer?
“Maybe, with the help of the video.” She knew eyewitness testimonies were shaky at best. And the more traumatic the event, the more unreliable the testimony could be. But a video helped and would do wonders in court. “What does this mean for me?” she asked. “Am I supposed to stay locked up forever, afraid to go out in case there’s a mob hit on me? Or even just a regular murderer trying to take out a witness? Because both of those are kind of shitty.”
“Yes,” Batman said at the exact same time Gordon said, “Probably.”
Her heart sank.
“We’ve been protecting your identity as best we can,” Gordon said in a sure tone that again made her think of Alfred. She wondered if Gordon had kids. “But we can’t be sure there isn’t a leak in the department. We’re still plugging all the holes left behind from Falcone.”
She winced. “Okay, I’ve done two bad things so far.” The Batman crossed his arms. Gordon motioned for her to continue. “First, I may or may not have been loaned out to the Tribune on special assignment to report on my own case. So the editor definitely knows my identity. And I also may or may not have reached out to a GCPD officer to be a source.”
She heard the Batman sigh even over the noise of the wind. Gordon was pinching the bridge of his nose again. Their response made her feel like a little kid getting in trouble and it made her bristle. She bit her tongue to keep from immediately defending herself.
“Which officer?” Gordon asked and his tone told her all she needed to know. He didn’t trust some of his fellow cops, if any.
“He hasn’t even agreed to be a source yet, and besides I have the right to protect–”
“Which officer?” Batman cut in, the sharp growl of his voice startling her.
The sound of it made her spit it out. “Martinez.”
Both men visibly relaxed. “Martinez is solid. There’s a reason I brought him with me to get your statement,” Gordon said. “We can trust him.”
“Okay, good. That’s good. See? I’m not a total idiot.” She relaxed marginally.
“Maybe you’re just lucky,” Batman said.
She laughed humorlessly. “Lucky? Well, buddy, you know what I was doing the same day I witnessed a fucking mob hit? Burying my mother and grandmother. And don’t even get me started on the rest of my personal life right now.”
“He didn’t mean it,” Gordon said with a sharp look. “His humor takes some getting used to.”
Batman mumbled something under his breath again that sounded a lot like I can talk for myself. But he didn’t actually butt in.
“Okay, whatever. What can I do? I don’t want to be killed, obviously, and I don’t particularly like the idea of being locked in an ivory tower either, nice as it is.” What she didn’t say was that she wasn’t sure she could handle being locked in Wayne Tower with Bruce Wayne. She just couldn’t. She couldn’t be reminded of how close they used to be and the distance between them now. And all of that on top of the immense grief she experienced at unpredictable times. She never knew when she’d be reminded of her grandmother and subsequently that she was gone. Around every corner, through every doorway, was the potential for a punch to the gut when she remembered her grandmother was dead.
“What can you do? Stop sneaking into construction sites at night, for one,” Gordon said with a soft snort. “But any information, anything, you come up with while working on this story, send it to me, too. And we’ll work with you on identifying that fourth suspect.”
“You aren’t going to tell me to stop investigating?”
It was the Batman who answered. “Would you actually stop?” His voice was rough on her skin, giving her goosebumps that had nothing to do with the cold or the fear of heights.
She shrugged. “Probably not. But I don’t want to die, either.”
“I’ll keep an eye out for you,” he said. He took a step forward. She noticed how broad his shoulders were, how sharp his jaw was, how his gloved hands were clenched into fists at his side. She really, really should have found a way to sneakily record everything. She was probably closer to the Batman than most people had ever been.
She swallowed. “Don’t worry, Wayne Tower’s plenty secure.”
“Still. I’ll be around.”
“That sounds a lot like stalking.” She raised an eyebrow.
“I promise I won’t peek in your windows.” A twitch at the corner of his lips.
“That sounded a lot like another bad joke,” she said. But she smiled.
“Let me drive you home,” Gordon interrupted. He was glancing back and forth between them, eyebrows raised. She wanted to protest, but she doubted her luck had held long enough for her to be able to get a taxi back home.
“What, that’s it? Two whole pieces of information and you go home? You guys don’t text or anything?” She crossed her arm. She really hadn’t gotten any more information that she didn’t have–except for the suicide of one of the suspects. If it even was a suicide. “This meeting could have been an email.”
“Never know who’s listening,” Gordon said. He tilted his head towards the vigilante. “Besides, he’s paranoid. Only calls if he needs something. Hates texting.”
She eyed the man in question. If he hated texting, maybe he wasn’t as young as she thought. Then again, Bruce hated texting too, old man at heart that he was. But he was the exception, not the rule.
“I’d really appreciate it if you two kept me in the loop too. Quid pro quo,” she said.
“For your article?” Batman asked. There was a certain edge to his words that made her think he didn’t like reporters. And really, it made sense. If she was trying to keep her identity a secret, she wouldn’t like reporters either. They were a chronically nosy bunch even when they weren’t working on a story.
“For my life. If I survive this, yeah I’m going to write a hell of an article. But I kind of have to be alive to write it, don’t I?” She crossed her arms again and stared him down.
“Quid pro quo,” Gordon said. “As long as you two agree to play nice.” He chuckled, like it was part of a joke.
“Keeping her alive is nice,” Batman said. Another joke? Every interaction between him and Gordon solidified the fact that they got along well and were around each other often. No way Gordon didn’t know the guy’s real identity. But if they were as close as she suspected and if Gordon was as honorable as everyone said…no way was he going to let any hints slip.
Her mind spun as the two men talked quietly about off the clock watches of Wayne Manor. She now had two very reliable sources for her article–if they really did keep her in the loop–and a new certainty that an op-ed for the Batman was in her future. She doubted any reporters in Gotham had spent as much time with the vigilante as she already had. Her veins thrummed with that inner fire.
She might be able to expose a mob conspiracy and the Batman’s identity in one fell swoop.
It was all she could think of as Gordon drove her home.
He’s My Thing
Posting this on tumblr as well as I seen people do it and I wanna know what is better here or AO3 for folks?
Part 2
Enjoy!
You first met him in a bar, not caring who he was at first. He didn’t have a high bounty at the time, the annoying clown cracking jokes and jabs at any pretty face before he landed on you. You threw in a jab about his nose, thinking it was fake. That was the first scar he gave you, a broken glass slicing your cheek. You broke a few fingers, and got you both kicked out.
”Fuck you bitch!”
”Bite my ass!”
Pretty soon, Buggy made a real name for himself. So did you. The next time you met, you heard of a terrifying circus act in a town raider by pirates. Who else would it fucking be? You pretended to be a victim, picking the lock on your shackles while he monologued. The circus wasn’t all that spectacular, you wondered why he ever bothered with it at all.
Slipping through the crowd, you followed Buggy to his green room. Before he could react, you sliced his throat. Expecting blood, you hear a laugh instead.
”You-“
Recognition flashed in his eyes, “the bitch from that bar. Come back to finish the job?”
You sliced the arm he held around you, popping back into place like nothing happened.
”Is that? Y-You ate-,” you stuttered.
”Surprised?”
You didn’t think those even existed, your mind racing for your next move. It was made for you, Buggy stabbing your stomach. You been stabbed before, fighting through the shock. You stab him back, punching his nose for good measure. He let you go in pain, long enough to escape.
His arm flew to your throat, slamming you to the ground. You weren’t about to be killed by a fucking clown. Biting down on his arm, he loosened his grip enough for you to kick it away.
You never ran so fast in your life, figuring it was way too easy the way you dodged body parts. He was toying with you. You ran to the docks, jumping into the ocean. He didn’t follow you there, the stories were right. He couldn’t swim. You swam under the dock, floating as you heard him swear and stomp.
The salt stung, your ribs hurt. He was going to pay for that. He wasn’t going to be the one laughing anymore.
You hid again, months later. Another show, another town demolished. It made you sick, the more you did this job, the more you hated pirates. The more you hated him.
Buggy stood in the spotlight, in another life he’d be handsome. Sparkling eyes scanning the crowd for a victim. You locked eyes, the creased greasepaint spreading on his face with a smile.
“Ladies and Gentlemen! The incorrigible pirate hunter is with us yet again! Come on down, sweetheart.”
You smiled at him, “you can’t get rid of me that easy honey.”
He draped his arm around you, like you were both old friends. You’d believe it if he treated his friends like this anyway. With a flourish, he gestured to your act.
”Since you love knives so much, I figure this one is right up your alley.”
”I’m gonna make you eat that big, red nose of yours, clown.”
He laughed, and the adrenaline caused you to also. You couldn’t deny the rush chasing these pirates down gave you, Buggy was like a cat playing with a mouse. You just needed him to stick his hand in the wrong trap.
”I have to say, that scar highlights your face beautifully.”
“You ever find that pinky? Or is it still at the bottom of the ocean?”
He smiled turning to his audience, “now folks, this lovely assistant of mine has no fear of silly little knives so…it’s time to up the ante.”
Meat cleavers, how cliche. You willingly let yourself get tied up to the wheel, Buggy studying your face. Now he was the one thinking this was all too easy. You closed your eyes as the wheel spun, standing still as the blades hit the wood with a loud thunk.
”What you playing at? Huh?”
”Maybe I just like the show so much, I always loved the circus.”
He laughed, “of course you do. Is that all though?”
”Maybe I have something you want.”
”Go on.”
A knife landed near your head, you opened your eyes to face the pirate. He had one more left, he could aim it anywhere. You still liked your odds.
”The map your been looking for. A log pose too.”
The look on his face was worth it, he stumbled his throw causing him to hit your leg. You grit your teeth, a smile on your face. Buggy shouted for his crew to take you back to the ship. You never been on his before, circus themed of course. The crew’s doctor worked quickly, with frown letting you know the knife cut to the bone.
When you woke up in his cabin, your leg was gone. Of course it was. Buggy seemed to take and take and you got nothing in return. You considered your options carefully, wondering how you can kill the bastard once and for all. At the very least you could take his head and ask the marines to let you toss it into the ocean. Either scenario worked for you.
”Where’s my map?”
”You took my leg, Bugs. Let’s call it even.”
He gazed at your leg, a frown on his face.
“Sorry about that. I really am.”
You both knew it was a lie, but you felt weak. You needed to stay on his good side, at least for now.
”You’re the only devil fruit user I know, I knew what I was getting into.”
Saving the best for last right?
”You couldn’t let me go, I suppose your type never does.”
”Says the guy chasing after a fairy tale.”
He sat down on the bed, “oh it’s real alright. So about my map…”
”Buggy, let me rest. At least get a girl a drink first. Don’t glass me this time neither.”
He sighed, getting up to find a bottle of rum that he usually kept around. He toasted you before taking a swig, the both of you taking turns drinking.
“So why offer this to me anyway, hm?”
You smirk, “you know what they say, if you can’t beat them, join them.”
”Is that right?”
”Oh yeah, I seen your act plenty of times to know it needs work. I can make you shine, baby.”
He laughed, “tell me why I shouldn’t kill you right now.”
”What’s the matter, don’t like this thing we got going anymore?”
He leaned closer to whisper, “if all you wanted was a ride that’s all you had to say.”
”Think I got it bad for clowns, huh?”
”I think you got it bad for me.”
You had him right where you wanted him. Leaning forward, grabbing his scarf to pull him close.
”I think you gotta earn my forgiveness first, baby,” you said, pushing him away.
“And how can I do that?”
You briefly wondered if he was truly as flustered as he looked. You didn’t think he’d fold this quickly. You needed to test this out.
”Maybe…let me stay here awhile. Rest up. My map is hidden in a safe place. Maybe I can take you there if you play nice.”
You kissed his lips, Buggy stared at you like you were crazy. Before he said a word you held up your hand.
”But, hey. I’m tired, I have a lost limb to scream about now.”
You never told him what exactly were the magic words to make the map appear, the next few days you slept in his bed while you recovered. Buggy forced to sleep in his chair, you didn’t care, quick to motion at the wood leg someone on the crew carved for you.
He tried; buttering you up, training with you to become stronger, flirting endlessly. It was all annoying, you never spent so much time around one person before. You decide to see how far his begging will go, allowing him to share the bed with you.
One morning you wake up before him, the sunlight shining through the tiny window. Buggy was still asleep, facing your direction. It had been weeks, and you still had not really gotten to know him. He never questioned your change of heart, you probably both expected a stab in the back at any moment.
He was handsome, in his own way. You brushed the hair from his face, causing him to shimmy closer to you. You backed up, unsure of what he meant by that. You gazed at your hands, unsure of why you did that in the first place anyway.
With a groan, you swing your legs to the side, rubbing the nub gently. It was still taking some time to get used to, wishing you had his powers.
“You okay?”
“Go back to bed, Buggy. It’s cool.”
So he was a light sleeper after all, good to know. You couldn’t kill him yet, wondering if he’d be lulled into safety at all.
Your felt his eyes on you as you changed clothes. You let him think he was being sneaky, bending down on purpose to find your pants.
“Nice ink.”
“Bite my ass.”
”With pleasure.”
You both laughed, you throwing a shirt at his head. His smile was honest, cute even. This was going to be easier than you thought.
”Buggy, I have a map I want you to look over.”
”You mean?”
”Well,” you smiled, “a map to a map.”
He kissed you, “you have no idea what this means to me.”
You pushed him away, “thank me later.”
While he wasn’t looking, you wiped your mouth. He never done that before, men were too easy to trick. A guy like that was easy to mold into whatever you wanted.
“Lead the way, sweetheart.”
”Aye, aye. Captain.”
The way to the island you hid everything on was a long one. You planned this out carefully. Buggy didn’t know you had a sloop for you waiting, after you’d burn everything he worked for to the ground.
Buggy was none the wiser, letting you get closer. You never spoke about the two kisses shared, trying to find the right time. His lips on yours flustered you like no other, leaving you to chalk it up to nerves. He caught you staring at him more than once, a satisfied smirk plastered on his face permanently.
”What you doing here by your lonesome?”
You sighed, “needed some air. It’s nice to see the moon too, you know?”
He leaned against the railing, “yeah. Beautiful sight.”
You turned to see him looking straight at you, causing you to snort.
”Give me a fucking break.”
”Got plenty more where that came from, sweetheart.”
You slide your arms up his, “tell me, why keep me alive this long?”
”You’re crew, ain’t ya?”
”Before that.”
He nodded with a laugh, “oh that. Water under the bridge, bygones and all that shit.”
”Tell me.”
He looked shy, wringing his hands. Like he was trying to spit the words out, but couldn’t.
“If anyone’s gonna kill you. It’s me. You’re the uh, one that got away.”
You pushed him playfully, “give me a real reason.”
”You first.”
You inhale deeply, “you ruined my life. I mean, fuck Buggy. Look at me. I underestimated you, and look where that got me. You and your…goofy bullshit.”
“You’re not ruined.”
You huffed a laugh, “course not, you’re the only one who got this close anyway. You were my first, in a way.”
”Interesting.”
”Don’t read into it too much,” you spat.
You turned to go to bed, dreading him following you. You had to stick to the plan. Make yourself less of a threat. He stopped you, gently holding your wrist. Before you could say anything, he kissed you. Slipping your tongue in his mouth, you clung to his jacket.
Eventually he pulled back, eyes scanning your face. You kiss again, Buggy gripping your hair this time. He led you down below deck, to your bed.
He took his time with you, roaming every inch of exposed skin. Your eyes peeled open, making sure his was closed. You checked to see if your knives were close, just in case. You weren’t expecting the shove he gave before crawling on top of you. His hands quick to unbuckle and unbutton everything you had on.
“H-hold up. Stop.”
”What, what‘s wrong?” he panted.
“What are we doing?”
”What I wanted to do years ago,” he dove for your neck, nibbling on an ear lobe.
You couldn’t help the moan from escaping, refusing to let go of control, you worked on his own clothes. Soon you became a tangle of limbs, you kicking off your pant leg the best you could off your shoe. It was a complete mess, he didn’t care at all. It was like you were the only thing in the room.
“Take those stupid gloves off,” you said.
He did so in a flash, massaging a nipple. His fingers brushed against a scar, from someone that wasn’t him, but you let him think whatever he wanted. Your fingers did the same, the healed bullet wound on his side was from you.
“You’re so beautiful.”
”Bet you say that to all the bounty hunters.”
”Only ones naked in bed with me, which should happen more than it does. Eh, what can you do?”
You roll your eyes, wishing to shut him up. You gave his cock a few strokes, which seemed to do the job. Buggy unraveled before you, you liked seeing him this way. Your victory short lived, as he found your clit. You weren’t going to praise him for a good job, and he was determined to make it happen.
He was edging you closer, your movements getting sloppy. You moaned again, letting yourself have this release.
“That’s it. Cum on that shit.”
You pulled him closer, ready to lose your mind. Buggy encouraged you, kissing and biting your neck. You came and he kept going, fingers slipping inside you. You slapped his chest, but he didn’t let up thrusting his fingers.
”Buggy fuck me right now.”
”Yes, ma’am.”
He rammed into you, unpleasant until he lifted up your hips. He was hitting your sweet spot, and you hated how much fun you were having. You bit his lip as you kissed him, Buggy was louder than you expected in bed. Moaning at every thrust and bite and pull.
“Can I cum in you?”
”What? No, no. On my chest. Or something. Not in me.”
He mumbled an apology, speeding up. The feel of him sliding out sent shivers down your spine, his cum messily spilt all over you.
He kissed your lips gently before getting up to clean you off. Looking down you groaned at the make up and cum all over you. You were gross, he was gross.
Ships didn’t have showers, you cleaned up the best you could with a towel and bucket. You almost didn’t recognize the reflection in the mirror, a blissed out face looking back at you. You wanted to smash it.
Retuning under the covers, Buggy cuddled close to you, kissing you sweetly. You didn’t get it, couldn’t understand it. Was the sea really that lonely?
You let him hold you as you fell asleep, still tangled up with him in the morning. You almost didn’t want to get up, trapped in the warmth. Something stirred in the pit of your stomach, you couldn’t name it. He held you close to his chest, and you didn’t mind.
”Hey baby.”
You sighed, “hey.”
He gently stroked your cheek, his eyes gazing at you in a way that made you squirm. You rested on his chest, facing away from him. He didn’t seem to care, petting your head.
”How much longer to my hidey hole?”
He chuckled, “be there in a day.”
You smiled warmly, “perfect.”
”Oh yeah? Any genius plans in that head of yours?”
You pushed him off you, twirling your hair, “I dunno, any reason we should be leaving this bed anytime soon?”
That seemed to set him off, lips roaming down your stomach. He ate you out like a starving man, you cursed yourself for enjoying it way too much. You wanted to wipe that shit eating grin off his face, riding his cock until he saw stars.
You didn’t like the way Buggy looked at you when you allowed him to cum inside you this time. Deciding that you couldn’t trust a thing he was going to say to you until you arrived at that island.
The rest of the day, he left you alone, stealing glances when he could. You felt pity for him, the cane in your hand reminded you of your resolve. Buggy was going to pay.
As night fell, he found you on the deck again. His arms wrapped around your waist this time. You leaned against him, waiting for him to speak first. Feeling his heart beat loudly in his chest, caused yours to match. You awaited a blade, but it never came.
”I haven’t been to the Grand Line since I was young.”
”How’d you survive that one?”
He laughed in your ear, “I served on a pirate crew. I think you can guess which one.”
This surprised you, “no shit? Roger pirates, makes sense. You people are hard to kill. I had no idea.”
”I’m an open book baby, just gotta ask.”
”So why haven’t you killed me yet?”
You twisted around to face him, inches from his face. He took you in, a dazed look in his face as he remembered your past.
”And snuff out the most beautiful person in the world? I’m bad, baby, not evil.”
”Fuck you, Buggy.”
”I…I’m sorry.”
You shook your head, “no, fuck you. You can’t keep dancing around this!”
”You started it! Why can’t you just fucking let go then?”
“No one makes a fucking fool out of me!”
”No one is!”
You slap him, the shock letting you wiggle out. He shouted after you, running to the cabin before he could stop you from locking it. Your leg hurt, causing the dam to finally break. You were a failure, you let some fucking clown be your undoing. You collected bounties all over the East Blue, you even got a card from Baroque Works.
How stupid are you?
”Hey, please don’t cry,” said the voice behind the door.
”Look I-I’m trying okay? I’m making it up to you, aren’t I? How about next town, you’re the main act? I can teach you to juggle!”
”Stop making it seem like I’m some stupid little girl. I vowed to destroy you, got it?”
He was silent for a few moments, you groaned. Why were you acting like a little bitch? You couldn’t kill him now, you weren’t in the state to take on his whole crew.
”Baby, let me in please.”
You unlocked the door, gesturing to the empty room. Buggy carefully sat on the bed, patting the space beside him. You let him hold your hands as he crafted what to say.
”Look, I get it. I get betrayal. But I won’t, I promise. The past, is the past. But you and me, this thing now? That’s all that matters.”
You couldn’t believe what you were hearing, an easy fuck and he’s suddenly so into you? How stupid did he think you were?
”You were a worthy enemy, and you’re so much more now.”
You smile, “sure.”
”I mean it.”
You could probably kill him now, the ship will arrive in the morning. Slip out before anyone knows. Make him pay for everything.
You kissed him, Buggy humming with joy. You’ll miss his eyes, and the rest of his stupid face. You fuck again that night, Buggy promising you the world. A few sweet praises, and he figured all was forgiven.
You convinced him to travel just the two of you, a promise of a little fun. As expected, he agreed. You had a map from someone long ago, the log pose you won in a fight. Buggy couldn’t do the things you could do. He never could.
”You wanna dig for it now? Buried treasure, pretty clever huh?”
”You ain’t helping?”
You motioned to your leg.
”Oh, shit. Sorry.”
He dug for 20 minutes, making him good and tired. Silently you pulled out the pistol hidden in your coat.
”Baby, how far you dig this fucking thing anyway?”
He paused when he heard that click. Turning around slightly, he didn’t see the shot coming. With a scream he fell down, you swung hard, the shovel quickly chopped off his head.
”You bitch! You fucking bitch!”
”Oh shut up, Buggy! You were gonna kill me anyway!”
”No I wasn’t! I might now you goddamn cunt!”
You shook his head, “whatever. I’m collecting that bounty.”
He screamed in a rage, his detached body struggling to stand up. You looked toward the shore, you had time to drag his body to the sea. He wouldn’t get up now.
His head fell silent, you glanced down to see the heart break on his face.
”Oh fuck off, don’t act like it meant anything.”
”Sure.”
”Oh what? Like you mean it? Like you actually cared about me at all?”
”I did.”
You shook his head, “I lost my leg! I lost my strength! You took it from me!”
”You took my heart and now my head, guess we’re even now!”
”You better not say what I think you’re gonna say!”
He spat at you, and causing you to cry out toward the sky.
”To think I let myself believe you were different.”
“You did this to me, Buggy.”
He winced, still feeling his body getting cold now. He looked up at you, you refused to meet his eyes.
”Do me a favor huh? Before I kick the bucket.”
”What?”
”Kiss me, one last time.”
You held his head up to your face, the sadness in his eyes you couldn’t bear to see. Tears rolled down his face as you kissed him tenderly. Reluctantly, you separated.
”I love you,” he whispered.
You set him in a bag as you readied your ship. Glancing back at the head of the man you seemed tied to by fate. Did he mean what he said? Did you love him too?
You burst into tears, running as fast as you could with the bag in your arms. You opened it up, so he could attach again. With surprise, Buggy watched as you carried him to the boat. You apologized between sobs, blood wetting your fingers.
You didn’t explain to the ship’s doctor what happened. Buggy never giving it away himself. You were going to die for this, and you accepted it. Maybe that was all that needed to be done to be free of him forever.
You didn’t leave his side, just like he didn’t leave yours. You should’ve known better, it was there in front of you all along.
He woke up late at night to you sleeping on the chair bedside. Various emotions swirled inside him as he gently nudged you awake.
”Buggy, oh thank god!” you rubbed his arm, “how you feeling?”
”Fine uh, care to explain what the fuck was that?”
You blush, shrinking in the chair. How were you ever coming back from that?
”I…had a plan. And a back up, in case it didn’t work out.”
”Was there even a fucking map?”
“Yes, for me more than you.”
You stared at each other, afraid of each other now. You desperately wanted things to go back to what they were. Carefully you hooked his hand with yours. You placed something in his palm.
He scoffed at your gift, his missing pinky.
”Get the fuck out.”
You nod, “that’s fair. Buggy, I…did you mean it? What you said?”
He swallowed hard, “does it fucking matter?”
”Yes,” you whisper, “because I do. Even if you don’t, I do.”
The tears fell again, Buggy turning his head away. You stand up, slowly heading out the door. You knew how to make this right, hoping he wouldn’t hoist the anchor as soon as you were gone.
In the pitch black dark, you finished up where you started. The pain in your leg was nothing compared to the one in your chest. You hobbled pathetically back to the cabin, looking the sorriest you ever felt as you presented what you promised.
”I can fuck off forever now, or…”
”Or?”
You swallow a nervous laugh, “I can make it up to you. You can even shoot me back.”
He laughed, “I got all my pieces with me now. Guess that’s payback enough.”
You nod, “permission to stay?”
”Yeah, sure.”
He didn’t look at you, and you decide against coming closer.
“I’ll just go find a place to sleep…”
”No, don’t. You don’t have to, not with your bum leg.”
”Buggy…I’m sorry.”
He motioned you over, letting you drape an arm over him.
He closed his eyes, “we’ll figure it out in the morning.”
”Oh, okay.”
He held your hand to his lips, “you’re not getting rid of me that easy.”
You let out a sigh of relief, easing into the mattress. Soon enough sleep claimed you, body and mind ready for whatever you got coming to you. All that mattered in this moment was Buggy in your arms.
You made it through the night alive, still shaky from the events that unfolded. Buggy pulled you closer, not wanting to wake up. He was going to be the death of you, one way or another.
“Can I sit?” You gestured to the empty spot beside the archer, who until that point had been sullenly staring out into the darkness. He grunted in response. You took it as a yes.
Seating yourself beside him, you followed his gaze to the woods, presumably waiting for a walker or two to jump out and attack your sleeping group. The room had grown suffocating for you, everyone else sleeping soundly while your eyes remained on the ceiling. After an hour of this, you’d pushed yourself off the ground and made your way here: to sit with Daryl Dixon.
“Couldn’t sleep?” he asked, voice rough from tiredness and cigarette smoke. You nodded. “Not tired?” You snorted at his assumption.
“I’m always tired. Doesn’t mean I can sleep.”
He nodded, and you knew he understood your words. The man must’ve been exhausted from never taking a rest and always volunteering to keep watch, yet here he sat, awake in the dead of night.
The quiet was deafening, nothing to distract you from the swirling thoughts in your head. Thoughts of the old world, your old life. How miserable you’d been. How miserable you still were, now.
You felt yourself choking up. “Tell me everyone feels this bad,” you said. Daryl turned to you, eyes wide. “It’s not just me, right?”
He didn’t say a word, prompting you to face him. You watched him chew on his bottom lip, eyes averted. You couldn’t help the tear that slipped down your cheek, the sob caught in the back of your throat. It was embarrassing, breaking down in front of someone you weren’t especially close with.
Daryl finally met your eyes. “It ain’t just you. Everybody’s feelin’ like shit these days. Hell, Lori’s pregnant. Ya think she’s havin’ a great time?” he said. You laughed, wiping a tear from your face.
“You know Hershel told me something the other day,” you said. He leaned forward, listening. “He told me that he wanted me to know that happiness is possible in this world. That he knows it is because he’s happy.”
You turned to him then, gasping out the words. “How could he be happy? What is there to be happy about?” Daryl reached for you then, pulling you into his arms. For a second, you were shocked, but then you relaxed, letting his warm embrace hold you up.
“I’m happy,” he mumbled, so faintly you almost didn’t hear it. He pulled away, hands on your shoulders. “This is better than what I had before, anyway. Ain’t runnin’ around with Merle no more, wondering what kind of mess we’d get ourselves into that day. Instead, I’m sittin’ here with you, wondering what I can do to make you smile like ya did at the farm. So yeah, I’d say I’m happy, too.”
You stared at him a moment, slightly awestruck. The tears in your eyes had ceased, every previous thought out the window and replaced with his words, “What can I do to make you smile?”
He dropped his hands and sheepishly turned away, gaze returning to the woods. You smiled at his shyness, inching closer and resting your head on his shoulder. He flinched at the contact, but then wrapped his arm around you, leaning in.
You breathed in, letting the comfort of the moment wash away all your anxieties, all your exhaustion, all your seeping darkness. With Daryl at your side, you felt lighter.
“I’m happy too,” you whispered, “when I’m with you.”
You'd always been crushing on your boss since day one. It wasn't something you had the confidence to be so forward with your advances. You like to be in control in the bedroom but when it came to making the first move, rejection was always something you feared. It hinders your confidence. But one night at the Nevermore staff party, some alcohol (okay a lot of alcohol) and a little bit of peer pressure from coach Valad you found yourself living your fantasies out in reality. The best night you could have ever imagined and you were slightly mad at yourself for being intoxicated, but you'd never forget what occurred between you and her.
You were woken by a gasp and the bed sheets being torn from your body, your morning wood on full display. Truly, you couldn't do much but blink away the sleepy haze in shock. "Isa?" You mumbled only to be hit with a pillow and a shriek from the blonde, "Get out! Get out! Get out!" You couldn't help but feel hurt and feel shocked at such a reaction, not what you were expecting after letting her see the real you, being so vulnerable with her only to now be kicked out from her room after spending the night together.
That's how you quilt shoved your clothing on and fled the room to escape what you assumed would be a hurl of insults about how unnatural and disgusting you are. How you shouldn't have slept with your boss. Yes you could definitely do without the abuse. You fled to your room where you would take up residence for the next three days, only leaving once a day to squash the tales of you being injured or something like that. You weren't eating or showering and sleep, you were haunted with the memories of that night and how it would never happen again. A freak of nature is what she called you in a nightmare.
Valad was fed up of you hibernating, not understanding why you weren't glowing since you finally got to sleep with your crush. Larissa seemed to be unusually irritated and quick to anger these days. So of course he had to do something, that's how Marilyn found herself knocking on your bedroom door. "Hi, Valad sent me. He said you might need some friendly company" she murmured to you through the door, only for you to completely ignore her. Marilyn tried for a while but you were not having any of it so she left your room, only to be spotted by Larissa. And well she put two and two together and came up with eight.
Being called into your bosses office wasn't exactly ideal with your present situation. You'd not spoken to her for three days, the rejection still fresh and lingering in your mind. What on earth could she be wanting you for at this time of night anyway was all you could grumble on the way to her office. Once there you were met with a seething blonde. Her rage was obvious but what had caused it couldn't be further from a unsolved mystery.  "You and Marilyn can not be sneaking around to see each other in school hours" the tall principal practically growled at you, "it's already forbidden that two teachers date! Imagine the scandal. It's like your trying to rub it in. God why can't you just see what's right in front of you!"
"Me? Really Larissa. Is that what this is? Jealousy. You know damn well there's no rules on relationships between staff members and you can't control who wishes to check on me after you threw me away like some unwanted toy. Discarded after I have no use. So if it's me that can't see what's in front of me then you know I'm in love with you! Yet you choose to ignore it so if that's all" you raged the emotion overbearing as tears trailed down your flushed cheeks. But before you could even turn to leave Larissa was up in your personal space before crashing her lips to yours in a desperate attempt to convey her true feelings. "Stay. Please. I'll do whatever I need to prove to you how foolish and sorry I am."
That was how Larissa found herself devoid of clothing and tied up on her bed. You were not showing her any mercy tonight, still upset about the fact she kicked you out. You were merciless with how you were eating her out, tongue curling just right as you lapped at her leaking cunt. Edging her over and over to make her feel some of the emotion you have. Tears leaking from her eyes as she begged and pleaded you to let her cum, "please please no more please daddy need to cum."
"More? Hmm okay" you teased, untying her restraints and settling yourself between her legs. Your rock hard cock pulsating with need. "Such a fucking slut, kicking me out then begging for me to fuck you again. What a whore, the principal of Nevermore begging like a cheep slut" you purred stroking your thick shaft. "Pathetic really, look at your tight little hole clenching around thin air. Such a cock slut, now open your mouth" she demanded, loving how she instantly complied. You then lined your dick up with her pussy and slipped in, to distract her you spat in her mouth and demanded she swallow like a good girl. And of course like a good little submissive she did just that.
The tears continued flowing as you practically hammered your cock in and out of her quivering hole. Both of you being worked up to a high where Larissa was desperately begging you to let her fly over that edge this time. Promising to be good for daddy and to never hurt your feelings again. Truthfully you felt you'd punished her enough but of course you weren't going to tell her that, rather you just continued brutally fucking her until she went cock drunk for you, her orgasms washing over her in powerful tidal waves of immense pressure. You followed seconds after, I mean how could you not? Her cunt suffocating your dick like this was making it hard to hold on this long.
Of course you came painting her walls white and you worked the poor blonde back down slowly as she cried for no more, her red puffy lips sore and swollen from overstimulation. "You did so good for me Isa, so good baby" you murmured giving her a sweet kiss before running off to find items to clean her up alongside some water. Once that was all settled you began to dress which seemed to startle the fucked out blonde, "where ? Stay please. I'm sorry. Stay. I love you." The last three words nearly not audible but you caught them. They single handedly warmed your heart and encouraged you back to bed where you could sleep holding the woman you love. Only when morning came you were blessed with sleepy cuddles and kisses rather than being hit with pillows this time.
BEEP! BEEP!
You flinch out of your sleep. The alarm clock on your cutesy nightstand said 11:00pm.
“Stupid ass alarm..” you mutter to yourself, barely awake. You dread going to work most days. It’s not the job itself, the jobs great, kinda. It’s a fun adrenaline rush, but what you hate the most, is Michael. Michael Afton. You had known the guy since high school. You always thought he was the cutest and most attractive man you’ve ever laid eyes on, but man, was he a jerk. He was so rude to you, especially.
Why me…
You think about the times back in 83’ where he would bully the hell out of you. At some point in the midst of him treating you like a dog, you begun to treat him equally. The bulling never stopped, even if you wanted it to. Michael was always so nice to everyone else, but he would say the meanest things to you, and you didn’t even deserve it. Poor thing.
It was a terrible miracle to work with Michael. You got to be around him all the time and he was almost warming up to you. The bulling was never as bad as it was in high school, but you still dreamed of being adored by him.
You move yourself gently to the edge of your pretty pink bed and slide off, putting your slippers on so your feet don’t get cold on the wood floor. You grab your black skirt and black t-shirt, then lastly slide the security vest over it. You put your black converse on, pretty pink ribbon as laces. You gain the willpower to move yourself to the bathroom. You brush your teeth and put light makeup on so that you don’t look half-dead.
After readying yourself, you grab your purse and keys. You go out to your car, already freezing from the coldness of November. You blast the heat in your car as you drive off to go to the best worst office.
I hope I’m here first. You think to yourself. I need to be here before Michael. You were usually there early anyway. 11:30, on the dot.
You quickly walk up to the front door and shakily get out the key for the door.
“Mrs. Early bird, huh.”
You turn around before putting the key in the lock. It was Michael. He was there early, for once.
“Yeah? what about it.” You say back, reluctance in your voice because you don’t feel like getting bullied tonight.
“Didn’t know you got here so early.” He roughly grabs your arm and turns you towards him. “Look at me when I’m talking to you.”
The sudden jerk of your body sent shock flowing through you. “o-oh, yeah. m’ sorry mike.” You said, blush burning at your nose and cheeks.
“Lemme unlock it cause you can’t seem to be able to do such a simple thing, princess.” Michael scoffs to himself.
Did he just call me princess? You turn even more red from the sudden ‘kindness’
After he unlocks the door, both of you get inside and rush to the office.
Michael looks down, into your eyes. “Okay dork,” his British accent is faded, but still there. “I’m working on the left today, so you take the right. I’m trusting you on that side.” He mustered out.
“Oh, um, okay, I guess.” You look back up at him.
“Mike, I just got one question.” You spoke.
He rolls his eyes at your statement . “And that is?”
“Why are you still so mean t’ me? I don’t think I deserve it.” The red, still flushed over your nose and cheeks as you speak.
“I- I um, I don’t really know. I don’t think I know how to stop.” Michael says, completely phased by the question.
“You knew how I felt about you in high school. Why did you push me away? Why did you resort to making us enemies?” You speak as you check down the hall with the built in light.
Fuck. You think to yourself. I said too much.
“I gotta go check on the…uh, whatever. I’ll be back.” Michael walks away with watery eyes, maybe you did say too much, or maybe you said it wrong? The feeling of messing up more with Michael makes you feel like you’re sinking.
You sit in the chair that Michael usually sits in. It was comfy and had a big cushion in the back. You tuck your knees into your oversized t-shirt and pick at your nails, waiting for him.
“MIIIKE! hurry up! It’s 11:50!” You yell across the pizzeria, hoping he would come soon, considering the time.
Did he leave me here all by myself..?
You hear fast footsteps outside the left door, holding something in his hands.
“I’m sorry.” He comes up to you, pries your hand open, and let’s you grab onto what he was holding… a plush version of Chicas’ cupcake.
“My da- I mean, the owner won’t care if you take this.” He said softly.
His dad?
You smile warmly, “Thanks Mike.”
He looks into your dark brown puppy eyes, “listen, I’m sorry about the past. I was and still am an asshole, I know, I’m sorry.” He sighs, “All I’ve ever wanted to do was to treat you good. I couldn’t stand you being with anyone else that wasn’t me.” He covers his face with his hands.
“It’s okay Mike. I forgive you. Y’know It was always obvious how much I liked you in high school.” You say, flustered.
“I- really? You did? I didn’t kn-“ before he can finish his sentence, you move grab his face gently and pull him in to look in your deep gaze.
“Can I…can I kiss you?” He says shyly, the bully in him leaving rather quickly.
You nod as Michael pulls you closer. Both of you indulge in the kiss, taking as much time that feels right.
You pull back, “Mikey…you feel so..good.” He picks you up, off the chair and sits down in your spot. He motions you to come sit on his lap, and you do.
“I’m so sorry, princess. Just wanna treat you so good. I need to make you feel so good, baby.” He slurs out.
“Please..” you whine, grinding yourself against him. At this point, his jeans will have a wet mark on them because of you.
Michael unbuttons and then unzips his pants, letting you rub his clothed hard and veiny cock.
You began to be impatient, so you take matters into your own hands and slide down his boxers. His cock springs out.
“Mike..how are you going to fit-“ your words being silenced by his lips again.
He lifts you up closer to his shaft and moves your soaked lacy pink panties to the side so that he can get access to your pretty pink pussy.
“Like this, baby.” He says as he shoves his length inside of you, making you whine like a bitch in heat.
“AH- fuck! Michael! Too much…t’ much…” your words become slurred by the pleasure of Michaels lengthy pushing on your g-spot repeatedly.
“Fuck, sweetheart. Atta girl, just like that baby.” Michael growls and whimpers from you bouncing on him over and over again.
“Mikey…feel so good in me, ugh can’t take it~ feels so good!” You whine out as you get pounded by him.
“Sweetheart, I’m sososo sorry. I needed to fuck your tight pussy so fucking bad baby.” Michael yells out. He picks you up and makes you bend over the desk.
He chuckles, “Better check those cameras while i fucking pound you, pretty girl.”
You turn the cams on, looking for any missing animatronics.
“looks clear for now..”
“Good job, princess. You’re doing so good for me, baby.” He giggles, “I bet you fucking love this don’t you. God your just such a slut for my cock aren’t you sweetheart?” He says pridefully. His words cause you to whine out.
“Oh cmon baby, just cause I don’t treat you like shit anymore doesn’t mean I don’t get to tease you, and both us know you fuckin’ love it.”
“Mikey…t” much…it hurts! Slow down!!” You whimper
“Oh yeah? I know you can take me. That’s what good girls do, baby. They take it like a good fuckin’ slut. Now, don’t you love?” He says as he picks up the pace, slamming into your walls.
“Oh fu- Daddy..~” you moan out, getting close to your orgasm, white heat flowing over you, taking over your body.
“Say that again.” Michael demands.
“Wh-“ you barely say before Michael thrusts deeply and painfully into you.
“I said fuckin’ say it, I didn’t studder now did I princess? You better say it before I don’t let you cum all over my cock.” He growls.
You whine and yelp, but you know you need to cum now, there’s no reason to fight it now.
“Fuck~ daddy… I need t’ cum so bad daddy! Please mikey, m’ so close…” you cry out. Your pussy grips him tightly, practically begging to cum.
“Holy- yesss, that’s fucking it. Good girl. Cum for daddy, just like that baby. Fuck yourself dumb on daddy cock.” The white heat fills up both of you as you go dumb by being fucked this hard.
“Mikey! I’m cumming, pleasepleaseplease-“ you helplessly cry out, Poor baby.
“Fuck! Me too, sweetheart, where do you want it?” Michael groans.
“Inside, please…”
“You want me to…fuck…breed you?”
“Yes! please daddy! I- ’m cumming!!” He continues to thrust into you sloppily, forcing his cum inside of you.
“Oh- oh my god- you feel so…so good.” Michael falls into your back, having his still-hard cock inside of you. His breath trickles down by the crook of your neck as your catch your breath.
“Oh shit! Check outside the doors!” Michael pulls out of you and looks outside of the left door.
“Fuck! Bonnie!” He slams the door down.
“Maybe next time we do this at my house, hm?” He says leaning against the door.
FEATURING. chrollo lucilfer x f!reader — wc: 2.9k
SUMMARY: as your contract with the phantom troupe comes to an end, so does your relationship with chrollo.
CONTENTS: tbh idk, breakup (?), asking to join the phantom troupe, takes place during the yorknew city arc-ish, reader works w/ the mafia, no warnings really! me exposing myself as an unfortunate chrollo fan
Tumblr media
Your hands curled into fists against the cold wood paneling of the table, the candle burning a tall and bright flame beside you. Though the city was quiet below you, you felt as if you could still hear the melody of an overture, ringing out along the streets with the warning of a heartless army.
You’d known this day had been coming for a while. It was always meant to end this way, yet as the sun dipped below the horizon of that evening, every ache that had begun gradually shocked back into you, sending your body into an overdrive of pain.
The door opened as you leaned your head back against the chair, staring out the hotel room at the lights that glittered from the skyscrapers, the headlights flashing at braking cars. Darkness never fell completely in Yorknew City, not when the entire landscape was lit up like a fiery beacon.
“You shouldn’t leave your door open like that.” It shut with a quiet click. His voice was soft, his footsteps quiet against the carpet. “A criminal might sneak in when you’re least suspecting it.”
Despite yourself, you cracked a solemn smile, keeping your gaze away from his approaching figure. It would’ve been no use to lock the door. He had a key, anyways, and there was no one else you were particularly concerned about keeping out.
“I’m not worried about criminals,” you said, closing your eyes as his hand deftly traced the soft skin of your shoulders, the fingertips barely dancing against your skin. “I’m certain there’s no one worse than you Chrollo, and I’ve already granted you free rein of my bedroom.”
It was hard to remain focused on your objective of letting him go, to not lose sight of the hardened chain that was supposed to be wrapped around your heart, a weak attempt at keeping him out.
Could you really be blamed for your misgivings when he had been so charming? When every word was a greater attempt at growing closer to you or revealing your nature?
Perhaps you’d been doomed from the start. He made it easy to open up to him, something that had always been so difficult in the past. He made himself easy to trust. A man like that had no trouble making a dangerous name for himself.
“Is something the matter?” he asked, attempting to refocus your attention, to open your eyes and guide them to him. His hands were cold, fighting off the heat that came with the tail-end of summer. “You seem upset.”
You considered a lie, though Chrollo would wean the truth from you eventually. Just the hint of a smile was enough for you to carve another little piece of you and hand it right over to him. “The auction’s over.”
Chrollo exhaled, amusement wrought in the breathy laugh. “That it is.” He hummed, and you were certain there was nothing on his face but contentment. “I thought you’d be relieved. If I remember, you seemed rather nervous that I hired you to begin with.”
You remembered just the same. Although you were well-versed in the dealings of the underworld, being hired by the Phantom Troupe was on a different level. You’d get no protection from them nor the other Mafia families if your double agency had been discovered. It would have been easy for you to be used you as a scapegoat, and yet—
“Of course I’m relieved.” Your shoulders relaxed, slumping over. “You’ll be leaving soon. I won’t have to put up with you any longer.”
He stood behind you, draping an arm over your shoulder from where you sat. You loosely gripped his hand, the cool flesh tender against your palm. You stared at the back of it, the purpled veins that protruded under his pale skin, the tendons flexing with the subtlest of movements.
“You won’t.” He agreed, his thumb grazing your collarbone, the opposite hand brushing the back of your neck. You lost yourself under his touch, and even these few movements were enough to unravel you, leaving you in an assortment of emotions you despised yourself for. “So, why do you sound so sad?”
There was no reason to hide from him any longer, not when you’d already shared the most vulnerable parts of yourself. Not when he had you in the palm of his hand, could ruin the rest of your meaningless existence if he wanted to.
You closed your eyes, leaning into him. The back of your head rested against his taut abdomen, feeling the long, steady breaths he took. “You’re smarter than that, Chrollo. Don’t make me spell it out for you.”
Chrollo was silent. Even the slow movements of his heartbeat were just a faint noise in the chaos that resided forevermore in Yorknew City. He’d left his mark on it, a trail of blood, and gave it over to the rest of the world to pick up the pieces.
You were a fool to pretend that he could be anything to you other than the leader of the Spiders, and you’d die the same fool, wondering if things could’ve been different.
Chrollo was the one to finally break the quiet as you waited for him, hoping that he’d change his mind, that his hand was meant to be the one that was always yours to hold.
“You’ll miss me, then?” he finally said, and the air he released curled around you, something caught between warm and mocking. “Our time together was special to you.”
His words always left his lips in such a low, steady hum, as if reciting a monologue from a lesser-known Shakespearean play, one he deemed only himself capable of performing correctly. You, on the other hand, had never been fit for the stage, and any lies you told him were never done convincingly.
“What if it was?” Finally, you stood, and his touch fell away from you, inch by inch as you peeled yourself away from him with struggling magnetism. If the cold air was going to freeze between you, you didn’t want it to be with a part of you attached to him below layers of ice, inescapable. “Would you laugh at me for being so weak?”
“No.”
He surprised you with the response, the sincerity that resided under the black waves of nothingness in his endless eyes. Stories you’d never know, were too scared to know, had their place alongside his sincerity, reminding you just how serious he was.
“Said with such conviction.” You traced his porcelain jaw, the skin still so soft after growing up in nothing but garbage, rotting in a wasteland with everything else the world didn’t want. Chrollo didn’t smile, but something in his face softened, infinitesimally, a twitch of two faint lines you just might have been delusional enough to notice.
“Did you expect anything less?”
“No.” Your hand fell away, but you couldn’t bring yourself to step away from him, caught in his orbit, wishing you could revolve around him like a moon. “At least you can spare me some humiliation when I ask you to tell me that you felt something for me.” You swallowed, doing your best not to withdraw under his intimidating presence. “A lie will do. It doesn’t even have to be a good one.”
Chrollo blinked, your words churning in his mind for a fleeting moment before he took another step close to you. Everything about him, from the harsh set to his face to the aura that was always so devastatingly gloomy, softened marginally. Cool fingertips were on your cheeks, pressing into the skin with practiced care, an action you’d become so familiar with.
“It wouldn’t be a lie.” It was nothing more than a whisper, kept safe in the pocket between your mouths, away from wandering eyes and ears. “I do care for you. More than I wish, anyway.”
Your laugh was senseless and feverish, allowing some kind of illusions take a hold of you. It seemed impossible for you to separate Chrollo’s truths from everything else about him, and even though you had little trust in his words, your body relaxed into his hold. The warm breath across the bridge of your nose was worth the same as a day spent in the sun, and though you’d never been a weak person, your resistance lost all meaning when it came to Chrollo Lucilfer.
You seized his wrists with some sort of desperation, holding him close to you, afraid he’d disappear like a shadow if you were to release him.
“If that’s true, then take me with you, Chrollo.” There was a plea on the edge of your lips, and you were disgusted by the despondency in ever syllable. “There’s an opening in the Phantom Troupe, isn’t there? I can join if you just appoint me—”
Chrollo’s face changed, then, but it wasn’t to an expression of humiliation. At least, he still managed to spare you from feeling any shame.
Instead, there was nothing left in his expression, a book erased of every word within it. He was no longer so gentle and indulgent, letting you see whatever you wanted to. “I won’t.”
That was all he had to say on the matter, slowly pulling your hands away from him, one finger at a time. Your skin grew icy, and while you’d expected the swift rejection, you hadn’t expected it to hurt so badly. There had been ample time to prepare, though you felt as if you were sinking, flailing in a vast pool of water, watching your only tether to shore turn his back on you.
“Why not?”
The question was futile; you already knew the answer.
He laughed quietly, and the sound was a sharp grate to the drum of your ear, even as he kissed the palm of your hand. “I don’t doubt your abilities if that’s what you believe. It’s not a matter of what I want.”
You were silent.
“I’ve considered a multitude of things. You’re better off without us. Without me.” There was another slight change in his appearance, and you wondered if he’d ever let himself feel the breadth of his emotions, the ones that brimmed somewhere under a layer of insurmountable anguish. “Let me do one good thing in my life. Just this one thing, and maybe I’ll receive less retribution in Hell.”
It’d been months. Just that long, and already, you felt sick with the thought of saying goodbye.
“When are you leaving?” you finally asked, letting your hands drop to his chest. The white button-up was a tattered mess beneath your hand. Somehow, you’d only just noticed. He’d come straight to you, after all of the chaos.
Chrollo heaved a breath, the light in his eyes flickering hesitantly. It was the first sign of disappointment you’d seen in him all evening, the only sign that he’d felt the same that you did at all.
“Before sunrise. It’s best to be discreet, especially when you’re supposed to be dead.” Then, as if regretted his own judgment, he tugged you to him, two arms around your back in the gentlest of embraces, the kind he’d only just learned how to share. “If they find you have any connection to us, they’ll kill you. You know that don’t you?”
Your sigh was one of marred confusion, and you buried the little noise into his shoulder. The scent of expensive cologne, one he’d surely stolen, had slowly faded away, sitting just on the edge of his skin. There was the subtle hint of mint there too, and an aged alcohol you couldn’t identify. How quickly his arms had become a comfort to you.
“Of course I do,” you said sourly. Of course you knew. That had been your entire fear in dealing with the Troupe. “I don’t understand you, Chrollo. If you’re so worried about my safety, then take me with you.”
His fingers were on the back of your neck, grazing the sensitive skin like a finely tuned instrument. The air slowly left his lungs, chest rising and falling at a speed that seemed much too hesitant to be human. “I considered it,” he admitted, and that, at least, provided you some relief. It allowed you to retain some dignity, that perhaps, you hadn’t been led astray after all. You’d never stop doubting Chrollo’s intentions with you, but you were too enraptured in him to give a damn. “The risks are much too high. You can handle yourself against the Mafia. I have no desire for you to suffer through our endeavors, even if it means I have to let you go.”
You closed your eyes, steadying yourself. What would he be saving you from, when this was already one of the greatest pains you’d felt? “Chrollo,” the name bled through your mouth, something akin to a mournful prayer to a god that had never answered. “I don’t care about that. Not anymore. Please. Take me with you.”
He smiled against your forehead, melancholy but proud, never one to be seen faltering. “I’m sorry. I am.” He kissed your forehead, and it felt too final. When you closed your eyes, a single tear gathered on the edge of your lashes. Chrollo was not an easy man to subdue, and even your despair was hollow upon his strained indifference. “It’s better this way.”
He took another step back, but you held onto him, etching the feeling of his skin on your own to memory. That if one day, you were to come face to face with him once more, you’d know his features as they once were, and you’d be able to point out every little way that they’d changed with time.
“You’re a selfish man. You should be selfish enough to want me to stay.”
“I’m selfish enough to keep you alive. Even if that means I keep a watchful eye on you from a distance.” He cupped your chin, thumb grazing the concaved space under your lips. “If you need me, I’ll be there. I can promise you that, at the very least.”
“Would you send your Spiders to watch over me instead?” you asked bitterly, your back straight as you stared at him with a strength that was slowly caving in. “Have Shalnark place a needle in my mind, so you can watch over every action? Sentence any man who dared to look me in the eye to a life of torment, punishment for his vile sins committed out of lustful greed?”
Chrollo’s lips curled, and you could see, in that moment, why he was so feared. “I admit, I am not above such things.” He looked past you, staring at the painting on the other wall, one that you would never understand to its completion. “But no. I won’t if you don’t want me to. You can come to me of your own free will if that’s what you desire.”
Perhaps you were sick enough to think that was any form of romance. Maybe you wouldn’t have minded being strung on a thread if it meant Chrollo would come back without a second thought.
Finally, he sighed, and it was obvious that even the most powerful of men could become fatigued. You could see the signs of exhuastion start to weigh on him. “Come on to bed, my darling. I don’t want our last night together to end in an argument.”
He held your hand loosely, guiding you back to the middle of the room, onto the mattress you’d shared for an unreasonable number of days. You fell, pliant, your skeleton turning to rubber under your skin.
“Will you ever reconsider?” your head hit the pillow, and you realized just how tired you also were, the past few days spent with eyes open wide, an indescribable anxiety nesting deep in your consciousness.
He didn’t respond.
“Chrollo?”
When you repeated his name, his lips squeezed together, and finally, he nodded, relenting a simple statement to you, one you to knew to be a lie. Though, it was enough, for now. Enough to get you through the next day, the next week, the next few years until you’d moved on from the man you never should’ve loved in the first place.
Chrollo brushed the dark hair away from his face, the tattoo a contrast to his pale skin, on his forehead in full display. “I’ll come back for you, when I believe your ready.”
Those were the kindest words he could’ve given you, and you surrendered, giving yourself to him once again. Nothing seemed to matter anymore. Not your future, not your past. Your soul had already been sold to the devil, and they’d never been merciful creatures. Perhaps, that had been Chrollo’s goal all along.
“I don’t believe you.”
He smiled, and, for the first time that evening, offered you a kiss. His lips were icy, but they tasted sweet, and you melted into everything that he had left to give you.
“Then don’t,” he said, holding his forehead to your own, the two of you curled into some misshapen heart on the blanket. “I mean it all the same.”
You obliged, swallowing back every single tear you had left to cry. It wasn’t right to shed tears for a man who had committed such terrible acts before handling you with any sort of gentleness.
Chrollo stayed until sunrise, just as he said. There was no way of knowing when he slipped away, vanishing into the crisp dawn, following moving with the moon. When you woke in the morning, it was to a cold room, and a spare key left on the nightstand.
