luke x daughter of aphrodite!! maybe a super cute fluff where they help luke show percy around and just their experience with percy!
-🥽 anon
stop this prompt is soo cute ! thanks for sending it in <3
"You okay?" Luke asked the newest camper in his cabin.
"Super."
"We all have them, you know." Luke clicked his tongue. "Intense, recurring nightmares. That's normal here. For the first time in your life, you're just like everyone else."
"So are you also... Do you not know who your..." the blonde boy began to ask.
"Am I unclaimed?" Luke shook his head. "No, Hermes is my father. That doesn't matter though, we're all on the same team here."
"Why is it okay they ignore some of us?"
"Spend too much time figuring out what the gods do whatever it is they do, you'll drive yourself crazy. Sooner you can stop worrying about that, the sooner you can enjoy what this place actually does offer."
"And what's that?"
Luke smiled, guiding Percy out the door to show him the rest of camp.
The two boys ran into Clarisse and the Ares kids first. Luke explained to Percy that the Ares kids were always confrontational and brutally honest, but he had nothing to worry about, as long as he was around.
"Come on, let's go figure out what you're good at."
After crossing off archery and metalworking, and dodging several near death experiences, they sat down for lunch.
"Is there a Greek god of disappointment?" Percy sighed.
"We're gonna find the thing you're good at, I know it," Luke reassured him. "We should try-"
Before he could finish his sentence, Luke's eyes lit up and a smile crossed his face, causing Percy to turn around.
A girl came over to Luke's side of the table and kissed the top of his head. "Hi, love."
Luke beamed, turning toward Percy. "Y/N, this is Percy, I'm giving him the tour. Percy, Y/N. She's in Aphrodite."
That much he could tell, Percy thought she was one of the most beautiful girls he had ever seen.
"Ah, bonjour! Comment ça va?" she asked him.
Percy looked confused, only recognizing the first part of the sentence. "Uhhh... hello?"
Y/N smiled softly, "Guess he's not in Aphrodite then. Any luck finding out your skill, Percy?"
"No, unforunately," Percy grumbled.
"Aw, don't worry. Soon enough you'll be like Luke here," she had moved to sit in his lap by now, one of his arms curled around her waist. "Did you know he's the best swordsman at camp?"
She looked at Luke proudly, Percy swore he saw hearts instead of pupils in her eyes.
"I think it's come up once or twice," Percy responded.
The Aphrodite girl smiled again, "Have you shown Percy the lake yet?" she asked Luke.
"No, not yet. Do you want to come with us?"
"You mean, do I want to show him the place where we met? Is that even a question?"
The trio finished up their food and headed back outside. Y/N led the way, her presence enough to clear a path in the group of campers idling outside. Luke and Percy followed a few feet behind her.
"So... how long have you two been...?" Percy asked shyly.
"Three years. Since we were 16," Luke responded. Though Percy had only known Luke for about a day at this point, he couldn't help but notice how Luke's entire demeanor had changed since Y/N's arrival.
"Oh, wow. That's a long time."
"I got really lucky."
"What do you mean?"
"Before I got here, I had nobody. I mean, there was Annabeth and Thalia, but they're like my sisters. Y/N was the one that showed me what love is."
"Is that what you meant earlier? About enjoying what this place has to offer?"
He smiled. "You might be surprised, Percy."
"Are you boys coming or not?" Y/N called back toward them.
"Yes, ma'am!" Luke yelled back, jogging up to where she was. They were almost at the lake by then.
"So, Percy, anyone at camp catch your eye yet?" Y/N asked, her hand wrapped around Luke's arm.
"Babe, he just got here." Luke said.
"So? I knew I liked you the second we met."
Luke blushed, caught off guard by her sincerity. That was one thing he wasn't sure he would ever get over, her ability to express her emotions so unabashedly. It was something he still struggled with from time to time, but for her, he would let down all of his walls.
"I wouldn't say I have a crush on her or anything- she kinda just scares me but she did catch my attention," Percy interrupted Luke's thoughts.
"What's her name?" Y/N asked.
"Annabeth, I think."
Y/N nodded knowingly, looking over at Luke. "Well, I guess we'll just see if anything special blooms there. Anyway, we're here!"
The sun was beginning to set over the horizon now, painting the sky in beautiful hues of purple and pink. A gentle breeze accompanied the three as they sat down by the water.
Y/N leaned against Luke's body, savoring the warmth he offered. He absent-mindedly twirled a piece of her hair.
"Three years ago, I was sitting right here, when I saw someone a few feet away from me. He was throwing rocks into the lake and disturbing my peace," Y/N began. "When I looked over to see who it was-"
"You saw the most gorgeous man you've ever laid your eyes on," Luke cut in.
"Hey!" Y/N playfulled smacked his shoulder. "I know you've heard this story one hundred times but Percy hasn't yet."
"Yeah, I haven't yet!" Percy backed her up.
The two older campers laughed. "Thank you, Percy. Now, where was I? Oh, yes, I saw this boy with curly dark hair and soft brown eyes, and I thought that's him. He's the one. This was before I was claimed by Aphrodite, but I just had a feeling, you know?"
Percy nodded, even though he wasn't sure he had experienced that feeling yet.
"But anyway, this boy looked kind of sad, so I decided to sit next to him."
"I think that's why he was throwing rocks into the water," Percy broke in.
Y/N giggled and Luke nudged her shoulder to continue.
"You're right, Percy, I had the same thought. When I sat next to him, I sensed that he was annoyed."
"Okay, love, let me finish from here." Luke softly kissed her shoulder and she buried her head in the crook of his neck.
"I wasn't annoyed-" he clarified. "At least, not at you. I had just been claimed by my father, but I was still frustrated with the whole idea of gods having children and just ignoring them. Then, this angel sat next to me and for the first time, I felt seen."
Y/N looked up at her boyfriend, her face full of nothing but admiration. No matter how many times she heard this part of the story, she still couldn't believe how she got quite so lucky.
"Percy, our parents may never redeem themselves for their wrongdoings, but I thank the gods every day they sent me Y/N." With that, Luke gently placed his hand on her cheek and leaned in to kiss her.
"Hello! As lovely as this story is, still a minor here!" Percy waved his hand in front of their faces enthusiastically, causing all three of them to burst into laughter.

Would you do Uzi with a short drone reader that often makes high end quality of life improvements in the bunker.
Uzi x Short!WD!Reader that improves the bunker!
Wow, someone that's actually competent and doesn't just hide in fear the whole time?! Impossible!
Those were Uzi's first thoughts when she saw you install some quality-of-life improvements to the bunker.
You'd either install security measures or ways to improve the bunker in nice and convenient ways
...some of them were added to support smaller-than-average worker drones which Uzi appreciated a lot, considering how small she is-
You'd also pick fights with anyone who dared to comment on your height.
Uzi admired that a lot about you! But was she gonna talk to you?
Pff-
The more she stared at you from the distance the more intense her feelings got until at one point she couldn't take it anymore and wanted to find an excuse to talk to you without seeming too desperate
Lucky for her an opportunity showed itself when you struggled to put some cables up because you couldn't reach the place where you wanted to put them.
She knows how sensitive you are about your height but it's still worth a try, right?
"Hey, uhm..." She felt like she was being choked by the words caught in her throat. "I see that you're struggling."
"Ugh, what do you want-" You turn around, expecting the same adults from before to lecture you about your "dangerous work" until you saw that it was just Uzi. Someone you admired too for her work and intelligence even though she was a tad bit insane. "Oh, it's you, Uzi. Need something?"
"I think that it's you that needs something." She smiles, seemingly caught off guard by the fact that you know her name but pleasantly surprised. "I could, uh... Help you up?"
"..." You awkwardly glance at each other. Uzi's smile vanished ever so slowly as she started overthinking her words once again. Did she trigger you? Said something wrong? Maybe even hurt you?!
"Sure." You say casually as if those few seconds have never happened. Or maybe only Uzi felt the intense suffocating atmosphere as she's the one that's stressed, not you.
This marks the day when you two build things around the bunker together, spending lots of time together
And while Uzi build more offensive things such as weapons you still appreciated having her around.
In fact, you couldn't be without her
Working alone on your projects wasn't the same anymore after you met her properly. Now whenever she's not present it's like something important is missing.
Laughing and goofing around while working, trying to solve problems together, or the way her hands would trace over your wounds whenever you'd accidentally hurt yourself-
You fell deep.
And it's not like Uzi got it any easier! She's been more nervous about what you think than ever!
Working together also meant you two would rest together after work.
Countless hours spent talking about nothing and everything, about everything you loved and hated, maybe gossiping about the few adults that were there
And on one faithful night, Uzi decided to gather all the courage she got to confess her feelings to you
You see a little cat-bot waddle towards you, its movement extremely robotic. It held a note between its teeth and only dropped it for you after it stood right next to you. Picking up the note, you immediately recognized Uzi's handwriting.
Wanna date? Would you like to be my partner Wanna got out at some point?
You smile, spotting the black beanie out of the tiniest crack in your bedroom door.
"Of course, Uzi!"

Well, you know what - I am absolutely exhausted now. That's the thing about double Casualty nights. I went off them quite a while ago because it gives me a lot to talk about afterward, making typing up my thoughts take longer, and because while I like to think I have a good enough attention span it can only last so long. Also I was more triggered by the eps than I thought I'd be (my fault though, I misjudged how I'd feel).
Yet! I am glad. We went two entire eps without Faith turning up at all. My second-least fave, Iain, was there but primarily playing the only role I like him in: Jacob's friend who tries to look out for him. And thus, even he was likeable tonight.
And of course, Jacob is finally, finally getting focus again!! It's been long enough.
But before I get into all of that, thoughts on ep 1:
Rash's storyline was... well, it's very intense. A lot more so than I would have expected. His whole breakdown about everything being broken was incredibly sad to see. Poor, poor Rash.
I didn't think this would lead to him leaving but I'm not sure now, I could easily see this being an exit story. I hope not - though, on the other hand I want him to be happy, enough that if he has to leave for that I'd go along with it.
Neet Mohan was brilliant. He's one of Casualty's best when he gets the chance to be. I'm pleased it seems the show is finally acknowledging that, even if it means Rash getting a sad storyline for now. Also, I tend to like an ep that partially revolves around a character being in therapy. I hope we get one for Jacob eventually.
I'm... intrigued by Patrick. I really don't know what to make of him, though I don't think I'm meant to. He's definitely an unknown quantity of sorts so far. I thought he'd remind me a lot of Henrik and he does, albeit mostly in different ways than Max did. Patrick makes me think of early Henrik. The grumpy, not exactly nice new man in charge who just wants everyone to focus on their work, with just the tiniest hint of a gentler side beyond all the rudeness. The scene where he talked about Rash being like him, however, was not very Henrik of him. I don't think early Henrik would ever have opened up even that much.
I continue to like Tariq as a character so far. I enjoy his dynamic with Rash a lot, still. Their borderline-brotherly dynamic is very interesting. And I have to say, he was cast really well - he feels like such a believable cousin for Rash!
Ngozi continues to be great, as well. I adore her.
I thought the way this ep depicted how busy the department was was incredibly well done. I don't have much more to say there, but I wanted to point it out.
And as for the second ep:
I'd almost forgotten just how good Charles Venn is when he gets to do dramatic acting! Not that I don't enjoy the comedy/lighthearted stuff too, but there's been hardly any of that recently either - it's just felt like nothing but "Iain, I am now going to prop up your storyline because you're not interesting enough to carry it alone, I hope you don't mind". But he got to be brilliant again tonight.
And Jacob gets the focus he deserves. It's about time Blake came up again! I wonder what's going on with Blake, he did sound very upset. And I wonder what Elle is doing. I hope she doesn't get forgotten.
Jacob's line about how him and Blake haven't really talked for a while was very intriguing. I'm glad him being basically never acknowledged for like, forever is seemingly being incorporated into the storyline rather than glossed over.
Nicole is an excellent character so far. I love her.
Rida was fantastic tonight. Incredible acting from Sarah Seggari! Some very upsetting moments, undeniably, but the writing and performance were pitch-perfect. Wow. She's amazing.
Siobhan is wonderful. I've definitely come around to her.
Anyway, that's most of what I can think of to say about tonight but I'm sure I've left a lot out that I can't remember at the moment. Basically, however, the TL;DR version of all this is: I love Jacob.

totally completely fine
ok. i'm not a fan of australian tv or movies bc they're always overdramatised or too darkly themed or comedic in a way i don't gel with bc i'd rather watch american comedies (not sitcoms, they need to die a firey death). plus i've never really liked the aussie accent, i've found it weirdly unsettling hearing characters speak with aussie voices and maybe that's bc being an aussie myself and wanting to use tv and movies as an escape so having that stark reminder of my own reality means it's harder to suspend and enjoy a different one for a spell. or maybe it's the fact that i, like a great deal of non-americans, have grown up watching american tv so now any non-american accent just sits weird in my brain.
but that's why i need to express my love for this show.
everything from the casting (diverse faces and bodies) and the actors chemistry to the setting and set design, cinematography and soundtrack, and of course the plot and characters themselves. It's so well done. It's a heartfelt dramedy that makes you care keeps you interested in wanting to know how things progress and ultimately turn out. the various relationship dynamics are full of ups and downs and it feels real in that messy way life is.
the premise: vivian is a young mess of an adult who lost her parents in a car crash that she was also in when she was a kid. she's the youngest of 3 siblings who were raised by their grandfather who dies and leaves viv his cliffside beach house. the twist: the house backs onto a picturesque ocean cliff where people go to commit suicide. the grandfather used to try and stop them, and now it's up to viv to try and do the same.
intense stuff so far. but this show is hopeful, it's not super dark even though it does deal with strained relationships and mental health and suicide attempts/ideation. the characters are distinct and the way their lives entwine don't distract from their individual journeys; viv is the main character but enough screentime is given to every supporting character that they all feel like main characters in their own right which is how it should be because that's how life is.
more good news is it's short: only 6 episodes at just under an hour each (it doesn't mince screentime) so i binged it all yesterday when i wasn't feeling great and just. wow. i haven't found anything mentioning a second season but if they did more i'd watch it - but the thing is it ends with both closure and the potential for more exploration of the characters, so it feels like a realistic open ending and works as a single season story.
i don't know if it's available overseas because it was created by and aired here by Stan (which is like our homemade Netflix) but i hope if you guys are interested you'll find a way to watch.
bonus thing for me: seeing this story play out in my home (settings and details) was actually grounding in a way i didn't expect. like i mentioned above, most of us grow up on american tv and maybe some uk stuff and while that's good for an escape it can actually be jarring to get back into our real world. but (with good quality programming like this show) i realise aussie productions can make it a lot easier to connect with the physical world around me (not the digital world), to not feel so alone, and to know that it's worth finding productions from your homeland and they don't hinder the escape of fiction in fact they can aid in grounding it in a believable way.
anyway. just one aussie who doesn't really like aussie-made stuff telling folks to give this show a go because i was pleasantly surprised.

Wow the revival ask is definitely touching and intense in a very good way, If the revived MC says ro the ROs, "I'm sorry that you had to sacrifice an important part of you for me. I'm sorry for everything. I love you... I will never left you alone again, I promise." How would the ROs answers and react? Especially if MC is crying.
It was a good question, and it was very interesting to me to answer it! It's fun how I got two different new asks about this situation, albeit one very sad, and one very cute!
The Physician wouldn't say anything else than 'I love you, too.' She wouldn't know what to say. She would wish that they didn't have a guilty conscience, though - it was her choice, after all. She could have turned it down, but she didn't. She would let them cry as much as they needed to - and on her shoulder, should they feel like that.
Aubrey would just laugh with relief at first - and it would be a bit unhinged. Very intense. He would be wholly unable to control his emotions, and that is how they would come out initially. Then he would say 'why in the name of Heaven and Hell would you apologise, my love? What are you apologising for? I have other parts of myself that I appreciate...' Then he would kiss them, if they were a couple, or embrace them, if they were platonic friends, and say 'I love you, too. ...yes, please. Promise.' He would tear up, too, I'm quite sure. Not that he does that often, but this situation is more than extreme. As I mentioned in previous asks about similar matters, he would be completely attached to the hip with them, like glue, almost insufferable so for a while, perhaps, only stopping if the main character sternly told him to knock it off.
Vesa would say 'oh, you're right, darling. Don't you dare leaving me alone again.' She would take the confusing situation with some humour, namely. Some levity. It wouldn't feel forced to her, it would genuinely make it feel easier for her. Therefore, she would pretend to be angry, but in a playful manner, to show the main character that she isn't cross for real. This, while hugging them tightly, tell them how much she loves them, too, and if they were crying, she would hug them even more intensely, since it would seem like they needed it especially bad.
Narciso would simply hush them gently, while, equally gently, wiping their tears for them. He would try to act calm, but a few things would shine through - how rattled he was. He would be a bit shaky. A bit out of breath. Lightheaded. 'Can we sit down and simply enjoy one another's company? I think we both sorely need it...'
Roswhen would give them their biggest, most wet eyes: 'I'm good... I'm just happy... I mean, overjoyed, to see you again. You're right. We will not leave one another alone. Don't cry... No, what am I saying? I'm about to cry... We can do that, can't we?' They would also tell them that they loved them, and ask to relax for a while lest they will both faint from sheer emotion and confusion.
Elan would cry, too. Very intensely, and if the main character was crying... Complete waterfall, basically. If someone he loves weeps, he has a tendency of doing so, too. He wouldn't be able to say anything other than 'don't apologise,' because he would want them to know that immediately. He doesn't care. All he wants to do right now is to hold them tight, and have them holding him, not letting go for hours.

AL Armin • Episode 1
⚠️ too many spoilers ⚠️
[💣💥❤️‍🔥]In the end these emojis make a lot of sense. (Also the outfit name)
I have a lot to say about this episode. At first, I admit that I felt like a spectator of an intense drama (and I love that). But, in the final scene, I was so immersed in the dialogues that I felt the emotional charge in each phrase.
We all know that Armin is an impulsive, chaotic character, these added to the fact that Candy is furious with him, make the encounter soo tense. It's obvious that they have too many things to say and sadly (even though Candy doesn't admit it) none of them has been able to close that wound. The tension goes up and down during the episode, there are moments where they reconnect for an instant, but then they start arguing again.
At first, it may seem that both behave like kids, as if we were in a silent war to see who says the best taunts. Even Candy herself every time she says something super childish to try to hurt Armin, she instantly wonders what the hell she's doing. She has mixed thoughts about Armin and that makes her even angrier. Also, the kiss at the end makes a lot of sense to me, because the final fight gradually increases the emotional charge, and without realizing it they get closer because of that incipient need to make the other understand their feelings.
Finally, I think that the main problem in their relationship is the serious lack of communication (pretty obvious). And I have the need to defend them both (or at least understand them🥲), because there is no villain, they both make mistakes, soo first
In defense of Armin
It's unfair to put all the blame on him and it's very selfish to tell him that he must admit that, because they both have the communication issues. And yes, it was necessary to tell him such simple things as that you feel that you have been neglected or that you feel that the efforts you make are not mutual (because it's true, he can't magically read her mind). Candy accumulated all these negative thoughts until she finally exploded and decided to break up with him (which would have been solved if she just said what she felt from the beginning). In addition she doesn't hive him a chance to explain himself (so unfair).
But like I said... Candy also has a point, so
In defense of Candy
Although Armin's intentions were based on a good feeling, that does not justify the emotional abandonment he had with his girlfriend. I understand the point that he wanted to surprise her with a detail and that's why he didn't say anything, but it was NOT necessary at that moment. Think about it, they were 18 and barely had any money, the plan is too crazy to work (it's something that only Armin could come up with haha). And no, she didn't have to "be patient and wait a bit" (like Armin said), because that disinterest that she perceived doesn't have to be tolerated by anyone. And sadly, Armin's idea that he had to do an incredible detail to her because he felt he had to prove something, or like he said "show I could be good enough" just doesn't justify it, and Candy herself says it "you were already good enough!" . Armin felt that he needed to prove that he was worth enough to be with her for some reason (evidencing his insecurities) which ended up showing Candy just the opposite.
Tumblr media
Well, I think that's all I have to say. I didn't realize how much I missed Armin until his AL announcement came out. This was such a good episode ;-; I knew it was going to be intense, but wow, I didn't expect this at all 💞🥺

A Clash of Kings - 65 SANSA VIII (pages 817-826)
Tywin and the Tyrells get some upgrades, Joffrey publicly breaks up with Sansa, and Sansa gets a hairnet.
-
-Sansa reached the front of the gallery just as a blast of trumpets announced the entry of Lord Tywin Lannister. He rode his warhorse down the length of the hall and dismounted before the Iron Throne. Sansa had never seen such armor; all burnished red steel, inlaid with golden scrollwork and ornamentation. His rondels were sunbursts-
Thank you brain, for autofilling 'rondels' as 'Ronald (McDonalds.)' Anyway, Tywin Lannister is just Very Extra.
The Lord of Casterly Rock made such an impressive figure that it was a shock when his destrier dropped a load of dung right at the base of the throne.
This horse knows what's up.
Like a pack of trained dogs, the lords and ladies in the hall began to shout their pleasure. "Margaery," they called, "Give us Margaery!" And, "No traitor queens! Tyrell! Tyrell!"
How quickly the ladies forget who was with them as they waited their inevitable doom. No, I get it, even if any of them appreciated Sansa keeping them calm and being there at that moment, the king is still an unstable little shit, and backing Sansa offers them no political or social value. Never mind that it was one instance in the time she's been there, most of which has been spent watching her get abused and ostracized.
(Also, Sansa doesn't want to marry Joffrey anymore so this is a boon for her... if we ignore the layers of protection it removes along with her title of future queen.)
-their chief accomplishment had been surviving the battle on the river, a feat that few enough could boast.
Yeah, no, that does deserve an award to be honest, that shit was intense.
Oh, Lancel and Tyrion update: both alive but not physically well off. That's better than either probably expected though, so take the win.
Sansa had not heard of Littlefinger doing anything especially heroic during the battle, but it seemed he was to be rewarded all the same.
Peter Baelish would do numbers on twitter. Wow, I am mean tonight. (joking)
Joffrey lurched to his feet. "I'm king! Kill him! Kill him now! I command it." He chopped down with his hand, a furious, angry gesture... and screeched in pain when his arm brushed against one of the sharp metal fangs that surrounded him. The bright crimson samite of his sleeve turned a darker shade of red as his blood soaked through it.
Looks like the throne disagrees with you on that, Joffrey. Pfff, and Cersei was worried Sansa would humiliate Joffrey, look, he's doing it all on his own.
... Ohhhh, Sansa's so happy to be free, but Dontos knows what's up *casually smacks him with the steel chair for slobbery kisses in Sansa's ear*
"What stones are these?" "Black amethysts from Asshai. the rarest kind, a deep true purple by daylight." "It's very lovely," Sansa said, thinking, It's a ship I need, not a net for my hair. "Lovlier than you know, sweet child. It's magic, you see. It's justice you hold. It's vengeance for your father." Dontos leaned close and kissed her again. "It's home."
It's poison. Ah, hindsight, you make things so blatantly obvious.
"It's a ship I need, not a net for my hair." Dany knows that feels.
Now: stop kissing the underage child or I'mma smack you with the chair again! or worse, I'll Spontaneous AU you to death!
Ahh, poor Sansa, she thinks she's so close to freedom, to going home.
By the way, if anyone is wondering: black amethysts are a real thing, the dark colour is from hematite and iron in the matrix. The real question is: does it noticeably change the magnetics of the amethyst, even if only from nah to not really?
It's the real question though, right, because hematite is magnetic, but amethyst, the regular ones iirc, have like a repulsing magnetic field, instead of a pulling, like when you put two south ends of magnets together, but nowhere near as noticeable. Hmmmm, google research spiral activate!

Why don’t you like the Kingsley/Juliette dynamic in The Original Sinners series? Or what don’t you like about it?
This turned into an essay with asides about my other frustrations in the series that are not QUITE as sticky as this one, so. Oops.
I have zero issue with their love of intense CNC and pain play.
I do have an issue with Juliette being presented as Kingsley's respite and gentle salvation from his toxic dynamic (a dynamic I love! But it's toxic) with Soren (and Nora), whose main trait is "bosses Kingsley around, mostly off the page because aside from in The Virgin, Juliette has minimal page time", "is beautiful" and "is Haitian". I don't love that she's given the tragic sexualized "island woman" (see: Palm Trees in the Snow) narrative, with a much older man who uses her as a sex toy before Kingsley helps liberate her. And I really don't love that the text gives some sort of ;) ;) *nudge nudge* nod to how "doesn't look kinda fucked up that Kingsley is a French white guy with an intense rough CNC dynamic with a Haitian black woman who is his sexual submissive". Reisz, a white woman, does this a lot.
Like, in general, I dislike how Tiffany Reisz writes race in that series--the weird jokes Nora makes about Wesley's southern family owning slaves in the past, her exotic~ Middle Eastern client who gets prettty vilified by the text. The cop in the ninth book (a black man) who kind of exists to be like "I am a new character and I think Nora is just Amazing and Magical, and wow look at her sexy male companions, but I'm not gay, I have a daddy kink, and even though I'm a grown man and a cop in New Orleans who's probably seen some shit, I'm gonna act kinda shocked whenever these kinksters talk about Being Kinky, which in this series is like Being a Witch, basically".
But especially the acknowledgment of how it's "weird" for Kingsley and Juliette to have the dynamic that they do falls into this tendency I notice with her writing wherein she's like "yeah I know this is fucked, but I know it's fucked so it's fine and I shall acknowledge this in a joking fashion". She does this with the underage sex too--until the most recent novel, wherein she, I'm assuming, consumed some literature on grooming that either genuinely changed her mind or made her worried about canceled for the times she sorta went "eh, the teens wanna fuck the adults, it's fine". Which could have led to the incredibly "too little too late" monologues of Nora deconstructing her youthful dynamic with Soren in a way that felt heavyhanded and not true to those characters, and again, a bit! Late! And sorta covered in a better way in previous books! But I digress.
Anyway, it's like... okay Tiffany, but it really isn't your place (or mine) to say any of this okay, for one thing. But especially not the dynamic between Kingsley and Juliette. And also? if Kingsley and Juliette were real people, Juliette would be an adult woman who doesn't need to have people go "well damn, your relationship with your partner sure is weird, huh!" She's not a child, she's not here to be a living representation of like, French colonization.
Lol the thing with the Original Sinners is that I think Tiffany Reisz writes complex emotional dynamics very well, and I think she writes the way those dynamics entwine in a sexual manner very well, and I think she gets a lot of the appeal of more hardcore-ish BDSM very well. I think some of the Original Sinners books are excellent. And some are excellent if you excise key scenes (The Prince; cut most of Nora's farm girl era and stick to what Kingsley and Soren are up to in the past and the present and you have a great book). I think she writes taboo very well.
And you know, if she dug into Juliette and King's relationship as much as she does Nora and Soren's or Soren and King's, then you might have had a great thing. Juliette seems so cool. I love Kingsley. I love his love for Juliette. They seem hot as fuck together. But I need her to be more than his baby carrier, especially when so much of his angst with Nora (and to some extent Soren) does go back to this crucial moment when Nora aborted his child, which he supported, but was also hurt by because Kingsley wanted to be a dad so badly. So much of his character is wrapped up in this idea of fatherhood, but I want the mother of his (younger) children to be as important on the page as Nora and Soren. Reisz devotes SO much time to writing Soren and Nora's dynamic that, even though it is FUCKED that they met when she was like 15 and he was a cool 29ish? You can't look away. Soren and Kingsley's first sexual encounter was, however much Kingsley enjoyed it, non-consensual. But Reisz puts so much effort into that dynamic, you can't look away. Juliette and Kingsley don't get that.
I'll allow, this isn't JUST an issue with Kingsley and Juliette. Nico is supposedly like, almost on Soren's level in terms of Nora's lovers. She spends months with him every year, and she says "when I'm with Soren, I'm 100% with Soren, and when I'm with Nico, I'm 100% with Nico". She wears Nico's necklace or whatever with Soren's. She doesn't seem to sleep with people outside of them anymore. But at the end of the day, Nico is really just a way for Reisz to sort of like, shutter any sexual relationship between Nora and Kingsley, while at the same time symbolizing this "Nora is secretly more dominant than she is submissive" thing, when it's like, okay yes we get it Nora is a switch. Soren is the man she submits to; Nico is the man she dominates. But we literally never see them together in the full books aside from like... that one quick falling in love routine.
It's like... I know why, lol. Tiffany Reisz as a writer is much more interested in the core three than anyone else... or at least she knows the fans are. (She was also super into Wesley, but I don't get the vibe that he got as much reader support and thus, fin.) And that's fine, that's valid, those are my mains too, girl!
But you can't just say "these relationships are just as important as the other ones, you just don't see them" when trying to write a poly dynamic, imo. Compare to (yes) New Camelot by Sierra Simone because I think that series does complex romantic and sexual dynamics so well. Ash, Greer, and Embry are all in the central triad. Much of the first book develops Greer's relationship with Ash, from her POV, with some additional development for her past and current turmoil with Embry. Towards the end, she realizes that Ash and Embry are also in love--but if you stopped at that book, you might not feel like that was authentic, or that Embry's relationship with Greer had as much going on as her dynamic with Ash. In the next book, you see Greer and Embry have some fraught scenes that are unlike their dynamic in the past, and you get a fuckton of development with Ash and Embry in flashbacks... Like, their whole love story. So even though Book 1 had this emphasis on Ash/Greer, every aspect of the triad ultimately brings something to the table.
Tiffany doesn't give Juliette (and her dynamic with King) that service, but she still wants to be like "look, here is a black woman as an important character in my series dominated by white people, and yeah I know I put the Haitian woman in as the sexual submissive of the white French guy, but I know it haha what can ya do, AND ALSO, just so you know, Juliette is like, on the level of Soren for Kingsley, buuut you're only gonna see it in this one book that is half devoted to Nora's fling with a nun while she and Soren were on the outs".
(Nora's most significant on the page sexual relationship with a woman essentially happening as a "FUCK YOU!!!!" to Soren while she recounts some of her most favorite memories of him rocking her clock is...... another thing for another day, but less bad, The Virgin is not a good book outside of the admittedly delightful "Nora's birthday limo mini gangbang" scene.)
To me? If you aren't gonna do the work, don't do the whole thing. Don't half-ass Juliette and King's dynamic. If that's the only way you can do it, don't do it at all. It speaks to me of a lack of effort.
Anyway. This turned into an essay. This is just one of those rare series where I have so much I fucking love without abandon, and so much I'm mixed on, and a fair amount I just think should've been cut lol.

ADELINE & TEDDY
20. If they disagree, who's usually the one to compromise? I feel like they rarely do, they're both very chill people so most of the time they can come to an agreement together without much trouble, but on the off chance that things get a bit more... heated, I guess, I'd say Teddy is most likely the first of the two to kind of give in, or step back and try to calm the situation down so that they can find some common ground.
21. If they live together, how do they split household responsibilities? They just agree to do the things the other doesn't really enjoy doing. For example, he will take out the trash for her while she might cook for both of them whenever she can, or she tidies the apartment while he does the dishes, things like that. If there's something neither of them likes doing, they just take turns.
22. What's different about their backgrounds? Do those differences affect the relationship? Their backgrounds are, in a way, pretty similar, I'd say. They're both basically nepo babies, they didn't grow up in the same circles and their families are very different, but they share a lot of similar experiences. Whenever they do find differences, I don't think they're relevant enough to affect their relationship.
23. What was their first impression of each other? They met at a fancy ski resort, he was taking some time off with his brothers while Adeline was vacationing with her mom, and at some point of their trip they got stuck on the ski lift together. Teddy was smitten from the moment he met her. It was, of course, a very superficial attraction at first, but as time went on, they realised they might be there for a while and started getting to know each other, he became fascinated by her. She was quite irritated with the situation, which made her act a little mean at the beginning, but their conversation was able to calm her down. In the end, they didn't really notice how much time they had spent stuck because of how at ease and comfortable they had felt with each other. She thought he was a sweet guy although a little intense. He was already super into her and thought she was very cool and also nice (by that point he already had heart eyes for her so she could have done literally anything and he would've been be like 'wow what an angel 🤩'). Anyways, the funny thing is he didn't have a clue who she was until he mentioned her to his brothers and they made fun of him for not knowing. It made things way easier once he realised she was quite famous, and he decided to reach out to her after their trips ended.
24. How did they fall for each other? I think Teddy actually fell for her once he got to know her better. Adeline wasn't really interested in dating but for some reason she really enjoyed spending time with him, so it was hard for her to say no to him whenever he suggested they spend time together. Her genuine laugh is what really got him, he began to notice how she was letting herself be her real self around him, that she was comfortable enough around him to not hold back, and he felt so honoured and it was such a precious thing for him. Teddy realised then that he wanted to hear and be the reason for that laugh every single day for the rest of his life. For her it was a much slower process, she was against catching feelings and she kicked herself whenever she agreed to see him, but she couldn't help herself, he was cute and sweet, and so, so nice to her... She had never been in love before so she was quite scared too, he just made her feel so happy and safe that she sometimes forgot all about it while they were together. It wasn't until he told her how he felt that she started contemplating the fact that, even if she didn't want to, maybe she had started to fall in love with him.
25. Who said "I love you" first? Even though he confessed his feelings first, he didn't dare say it yet, I mean, he knew for sure he was in love with her, but he also knew she was very apprehensive and it might scare her off, so he held back and kind of gave her some space so that she didn't feel pressured or uncomfortable. Adeline was the one who said it first. After she opened up about her feelings with him, she started feeling more confident and took charge of the situation most of the time. She said it quietly one evening while they were laying in bed together, hugging each other in silence. Neither of them made a big deal out of it, he said it back, and they both felt relieved that everything was finally out in the open.

Hello Acacia _may I saw you were doing a song recommendation thing and I was wondering if you had any songs for Jessie and James 😉 hope your well
Hi Eggs! Hope you're doing well! 💕 Thank you so much for ask! I don't get a lot of Pokémon ones so this is really exciting for me, and I'll admit I had a little too much fun going through my old Rocketshipping playlist from way, way back in the day! (It's so old it doesn't even have a Spotify equivalent lol 😂). But yes, excellent pairing and lots of wonderful memories!
Your song & headcanons are below the cut! Thanks for playing my song + headcanon ask game! 🥰
So, in another life (long before I had a Tumblr), a much younger Acacia was just elbow-deep invested in Rocketshipping, and your ask has gotten me all squealing and kicking my feet up in the air about them again. I had lots of fun going back through my old playlist I made for them, though I'll admit most of it was pretty on the nose and/or cheeky with a bunch of criminals in love kind of songs (who knew there was such a genre of that 😅😂). One of my favorites of those has always been "Ocean City" (YouTube) by Charming Disaster. I feel like it really has this Jessie and James vibe to it since it starts of as this kind of bouncy, jaunty pseudo-love song about a couple on what we think is a romantic getaway only to find out by the refrain that these lovers are actually on the run from the law! 😁
It's a fun song so I think it's worth mentioning, but I decided to go for a more serious choice so I can write some related headcanons for you and picked "I Caught Myself" by Paramore which has always felt like a Jessie song to me in the context of Rocketshipping. I feel like the complicated feelings of the singer are very similar to how I imagine Jessie would feel about James and pursuing a romantic relationship.
So without further ado here are some of my "Jessie falls in love with James" headcanons:
Jessie has lingering abandonment issues from her childhood which have made her jaded and guarded. She really struggles to open up to others and even when she has someone in her life (like James) who is so devoted to her and has been such a constant presence in her life, she still struggles to truly accept and believe that he's always going to stick around so she's always looking for the "emergency exit" or that "escape hatch" in case things go south and she goes out of her way to convince herself not to care too much so she won't end up getting hurt.
Despite being so independent and headstrong and so guarded about her feelings, Jessie does feel this almost-undeniable closeness to James and feels this connection, but she stops herself from really exploring that or pursuing it. She does have these moments where she's really beginning to think "Oh, wow! I could actually be falling in love" but then she "catches" herself and doesn't really let herself feel that and just buries her heart deeper and deeper away from him, struggling to admit just how much he means to her and how much she cares about him.
This sometimes even goes so far as her consciously or perhaps subconsciously sabotaging her own chances at happiness by pushing him away. When she feels James is getting too close to her, she sometimes lashes out--feeling it's better to just stop anything that "could be" before it became something and she lost her heart only for it to be broken (or so is her fear)
For this reason, she never expresses her feelings or inner turmoil on this topic despite her affection growing not only in intensity but also in undeniability [to the point that by the time they actually do pursue something romantic with each other, everyone in their lives are just exasperated like "FINALLY. It's about time"].
It's James who confesses first though it is inadvertent and accidental. Confronted with the fact that he actually loves her, Jessie has a sort of existential crisis, but eventually allows herself to believe him. She allows herself to be loved, and it's in that moment that she reaches true acceptance that she loves him too.

How much do your characters go into a 'combat frenzy?' Like, are any of them a straight-up cackling menace on the battlefield, while out-of-combat being well-spoken and well-adjusted?
Not specifically; I'll describe the quartet better individually below (Aeryn almost has shades of this), but for most of my characters, combat is a grim reality that must be done. If any of them do act in such ways, it’s usually a calculated action based on the situation and enemy.
I haven't really done much with that "cackling madman who loves to fight" trope. Closest were the various World of Darkness werewolves and vampires I've played, as violence and frenzies are part of their nature and actual gameplay, so I guess I've never seen a "need" to apply it to others. I don't play many barbarians in D&D either, and it's rarely "fit" the personalities or archetypes I tend to gravitate toward in characters.
There's an early scene from Oath of Gold, the final novel in the original The Deed of Paksenarrion trilogy by Elizabeth Moon, where the eponymous character, trying to get over her trauma and curses from the second novel, talks to the druid helping her about how she wishes to feel joy in her war craft again:
"Sir, I have had enough experience to know what comes of fighting for the joy of it alone. It is not that. But I still wish I could feel the joy when it's needed. Or perhaps I should not say needed, since I can do without it, but--I heard a woodworker, sir, say how much he liked the feel of his plane slipping along the grain of the wood, and the smell of the shavings. My father liked being out with his sheep--I can remember him standing on the moor, drawing in great breaths of that wind and smiling. Isn't that natural, in a craftsman, to enjoy his work as well? And I wish for that, to enjoy it sometimes. To pick up a sword with pleasure in its balance, not always overcoming fear of it."
Paks's story is quite formative for how I view fantasy heroes (particularly my old WoW paladin) and shades of it color my characters' development.
(Also if you want a good traditional fantasy series that's not in the grimdark vein though terrible things do happen, written by a former marine with science degrees and is a horse person who understands those animals, writing a story about military life, growing into a true hero, beating back the "lawful stupid" rep of old school D&D paladins, intricate world building and politics between the action, featuring an explicitly AroAce woman lead who has close and meaningful friendships while other characters get their own romances, written initially as a short story gift for a young friend and now grown into a couple series and stories in a rich fantasy world, I will always recommend the Deed and its followup series, Paladin's Legacy)
Iyna shuts down into more of a cold robotic mode after decades in the Imperial system. Procedural, efficient. She doesn't tend to remember many, if any, details later.
Dark handles things with her usual outward practical calm, in some ways engaging similar concepts as her hunting; quick, efficient, clean as possible. Just get it done. She sticks to her songs when with allies. She might be screaming terrified inside, even all these years and the intense treatments and care post-Carteneau.
C'oretta varies between attempting to maintain her cheerful joker facade to buckling down into seriousness, depending on the situation and the stakes. They're more ways of coping with her own fears and concerns.
Aeryn may occasionally throw a snarky quip, but she's usually silent except for her spellcasting and songs. There IS a bit of gremlin to Aeryn; she won't be a frenzied cackler in battle, but her healers and tanks might call her a "menace" given the risks she takes and her impetuous, impatient nature, while seeming so refined and collected to many people (who don't know her well) out of combat.
Speaking of, it's Sunday and time to frazzle my FC healers and tanks in Eureka by having Aeryn wander off and pull all the things...

If you're still doing the fic writing asks, 50 x 4! (caus I'd like to hear you talk about what you want and I also can't keep track of the og post and what you've answered)
You can multiply questions?! (you can, brows. Thank you.)
question #2 got me looking at my works page, and wow I do not reuse tags! So my top three came in at three uses each: Angst, Fluff, Body Horror. And yes, that is a very accurate representation of my writing habits. It's very difficult to send original works to magazines because I feel like my particular brand of cozy horror is not one trad publishing really calls for, but I write it because it's what I want to read. I love horror that just lives here. The human ability to adapt to anything can be so funny at a certain point. And really heartening! There's some anguish over how we're all dying, but hey we're all in this together, can I get you a cup of coffee while we talk about teeth?
question #21; a story with no dialogue or only dialogue is an interesting one because I'd go no dialogue in a heartbeat. Even though I love writing dialogue, and most of my notes are just dialogue beats for stories, it's a lot easier to cheat dialogue than it is to cheat everything else. You can't really give setting through dialogue alone without getting into cheesy exposition, but the way a person interacts with their place, their clothes, all that can give a much broader story than dialogue on its own. That's not to say it's an easy challenge. I'd have to really work at a story to keep it interesting if nobody's talking to each other. But it'd be slightly less work than a story with no place.
Question 39: my writing process is inspired by so many people at this point that I think it's safely my own, but there are some things that still stick out as distinctly taken from others. One of my favorite craft books is What It Is by Lynda Barry, which is both a book on writing exercises and an intense collage of comics and cut out images pasted onto a legal pad. The first half is a lot of her history with writing, and the second is all lesson plans that she does with her students. One that really stuck with me is a lesson to describe a dress, and sometimes if I feel like I can't write anything I'll fall back on "describe an object. It doesn't have to do anything, and in fact it probably shouldn't. Just let it be." I can't reccomend this book highly enough (though it might be difficult to get into with how chaotic the pages are.) Another person I think of often when I'm considering structure is Milan Kundera's The Art of the Novel, where he talks about the act structure as being somewhat meaningless to his work, and its easier to think of things in orchestral movements. It's not usually relevant when I'm writing shorter things, but sometimes knowing what type of movement I'm trying to write will make things easier.
And Question 49: I'm still working on the last chapter of Flowers! Relevant to feeling stuck and describing a dress, here's a passage from the beginning
Imogen smooths her dress in the mirror and frowns at her exposed shoulders. While it’s warm inside the skyship, the party’s supposed to be on deck, out in the cool night air high above the jungle. The dress seemed so perfect when she bought it last week. All cream and lace and layers that twirl around her ankles when she spins. Fearne and Laudna were insistent she buy it. Said it was made for her. But the scars have climbed all the way to her neck, and they’re always faintly glowing. She didn’t want to be a spectacle, all glittering against the night sky in the middle of Laudna’s party.
Not that anyone would call her a spectacle. Laudna says they’re pretty. Hell, even Chetney won’t give her shit about them, knowing she’s a little sensitive there. But they've invited just about everyone they know, and it’s hard to kick the habits that helped her survive Gelvaan.

AH. OKAY. SO MUCH TO TALK ABOUT. First off, thank you for blessing us today with three parts. I would've said you're a saint but with how you've been tearing our hearts apart, it begs to differ. So thank you, you wonderful devil (affectionate). ANYWAY. Again, I'm going to tackle this by part because I really don't want to miss anything.
First, when Pocket woke up in that pool of blood my immediate thought was: "oh, maybe it's just her period and she forgot." And I really went on in this whole "well, that's a good thing because at least she's not pregnant" and "wow she really does get bad cramps then" even when she passed out because I know a friend who actually passed out from cramps. I kid you not only after the next part did I realize how much of a dumbass I was 😭 like girl, you don't bleed that much during your period. And my second thought was that it had something to do with the drugs which ??? I don't think you bleed out from overdose. Honestly, I was still waking up when I read that part, my braincells hadn't turned on fully yet. Idk i just ruled out her being pregnant because I was convinced she was poisoned LMAO.
Now their first interaction again went as expected, Pocket being angry and Bucky being a sad puppy. But, it did get a little intense though. The way Pocket reacted to the news was a bit, well, cruel and callous. There's no denying that. Like, I genuinely felt like I didn't know her because she's never typically this mean. But then again, she just found out she was pregnant and had a miscarriage at the same fucking time. AND you have the person who's hurt you, someone you hadn't seen in months in the same room. Bucky was also pushing boundaries with the way he reacted too, because at the end of the day, it is Pocket's choice whether she wants to keep the baby or not. And obviously, he can have his opinion being the father of the child but he's not gonna be the one who'd carry it for 9 months and get his body all fucked up so ultimately, he doesn't get the final say. HOWEVER. Pocket didn't have to be so cruel with that "trash taking itself out" line because it was obvious it meant something to Bucky, especially a man from the 40s who has different views on the whole, fetus doesn't equal a conscious baby etc. Sure, if probably given the chance he'd understand the gist of it, but right in the moment when they just found out the news? It was just a really mean thing to say. But again, they're both running on intense emotions so I can't blame either of them for how they handled things.
With that said, I truly do think this whole thing is going to affect Pocket more than she's letting on. Because they DO NOT NEED A BABY RIGHT NOW and she has all the right to not keep it when she would've found out about the pregnancy. But, with her miscarriage? This is yet another choice that was taken from her. Obviously, with the circumstances bringing a child into it is just never going to happen. But I have a feeling deep down, that she probably wanted it and if things were different she would've kept it. I mean, she said it herself at the last part, it probably was something she wanted too. So once she's calmed down and has the time to truly think about what just happened, it's going to hit her much harder than she's going to expect. I mean, I could be wrong, this is all just my assumptions. But in the next part, she did admit that she cared. So this whole thing is going to add another stack to her already growing guilt.
Now, with these next points, I'm probably going to get so much slack but, hey, I'm just here to share my opinion at the end of the day and some might not agree with it. But when they got back to the safe house, I felt a little iffy about Pocket blaming it ALL on Bucky as to why she's acting this way. Like, yes, he might've been the biggest reason she was pushed towards the edge and was sleeping around and doing drugs but, well, she still has some fault in that too. She can't just say that's what Bucky made her out to be because she still made these choices. Yes, she was acting on hurt and anger that was caused by him and yes he fucked up so bad that it caused her to act this way, but she still has some bit of fault in this too. Not everything, obviously, she wasn't in the right state both mentally and emotionally, but she made some bad choices and she won't be able to get through that and be able to learn from it if she's just going to point fingers.
And again, I'm probably going to get so much slack for this but in my opinion, Pocket needed that scolding when Bucky found the remnants of cocaine. Unfortunate it's coming from the person who hurt her the most but, either way, she needed someone to snap her out of this daze of always wanting to numb herself and actually get to see that there's going to be dire consequences if she kept going this route. Because Bucky was right. It's not even just about the baby anymore. She could've died. Can you imagine what that would've done to the people who cared about her? Sam when he's the one who left here there? Tony who's the person who suggested she go on that mission in the first place? Pocket was losing sight of that, so she really did need Bucky to remind her. And she needed to have that breakdown too. She's been running away for far too long and it's going to end up killing her if she keeps going. I mean, it almost did.
And I will say, you can clearly see how much Bucky has grown, despite it being off screen. With him mentioning that he's not expecting anything back from her, that he's going to accept his fate whether she decides to forgive him or not, it is quite refreshing. Like you can see someone who's clearly seen how much he's fucked up and has realized that what he's done is possibly unforgivable and is willing to accept that he's not going to get the love of his life back. Two months of therapy has done him good. I truly do believe that Bucky will be able to redeem himself because he's already shown some growth. I'm so happy that they're starting to have these conversations now too. It really does seem like they're on the healing path. All they need to do is to talk everything out. Even if it won't end in the getting back together, they could salvage some friendship at least.
Lastly, I know there's this argument that people are being too easy on Bucky. And while I don't condone any of the shit he's done, I mean, he still fucked up. But, I might seem that I'm being too forgiving because one, this is just fiction. If someone was like this in real life I'm out. And two, which is the same with the first one, Bucky's case isn't exactly as black and white as most men are. I mean, he's 106 years old, he's been tortured, used, abused, brainwashed for the 70 years and he can't remember most of it, he's a man out of time and he's clearly not yet healed. And I don't think you can't just take all of that into account as to why he is the way he is. BUT BUT again, this doesn't excuse his actions. He still needs to apologize and grovel and get himself together and fix things and do right with Pocket. It just means that I'm not going to view him as some evil asshole who's malicious and gets off from hurting the people he loves. Because he's not. He's a good man who has a good heart but unfortunately has made some terrible choices due to his circumstances. I mean, that doesn't mean he's immediately forgiven. It just means I can give him a bit of grace and empathy and see where he's coming from you know?
Anyway, I'm going to end this by saying, there's truly no villain between him and Pocket, they're both just so human. So there's really no need to pick sides or to argue who's better than who or who’s fully wrong and who's fully right etc etc. (Well, apart from Judas bc she's clearly the villain in every narrative in this story). This is getting so long, I'm so sorry. But you're amazing, and I truly do enjoy this story so much. Lots of love!
— Jnon 🤍
Hell, beloved bestie!
You know, I will happily take Wonderful Devil over Saint any day of the week, so I thank you, lol.
Pocket was also super in denial when she woke up in the puddle of blood. With everything that had been going on in her life, a pregnancy was by far the absolute LAST thing on her mind. It was more logical to think that someone had broken in during the night to stab her, lol. And I really, really, did push the possible poisoning narrative, just because so many people had clued into her being pregnant, I was like "shit! gotta toss a red herring!"
When Pocket got the news (plus the added stress of Bucky just being there), she was in shock. I hated writing her so callous, but I had to think: If I were in her situation, and I hadn't had the opportunity to really process this, and I was running solely on the anger I felt for my ex, how would I respond in my worst moment? And that's what I came up with. Bucky was right, though, when he told her that she didn't mean it. She didn't. She was just trying to make him hurt, and to convince herself (as well as him) that she wouldn't have wanted his baby.
As for Bucky pushing boundaries, I think that, if things had been different and they found out about the pregnancy earlier, and had had the opportunity to actually discuss it, if Pocket had truly wanted an abortion, he would have supported her. It was just the surprise of the moment, and him being from the 40s where that kind of thing wasn't really openly talked about. They were both feeling immense emotions at the moment, and neither one came out looking their best.
And yeah, when she has time to actually sit down and process everything, it's going to hit her, hard. Unfortunately, that's not going to be able to happen for awhile, and off page, because shit's about to go down real soon, and our story (or, this part of it, anyway) will wrap up before she gets the chance to deal with things.
And no, you are totally right-- it's not all Bucky's fault. Yeah, he hurt her, but Pocket chose to deal with that hurt the way she did. There were so many other things she could have done (hello, what happened to tried and true stress eating? lol), but she chose self destruction. The same way he's responsible for the way he handled Carthage, she's responsible for the way she's handled this. And Bucky definitely needed to open the can of tough love on her. I honestly don't think she would have accepted it from anyone else but him. He said harsh truths that she needed to hear. It's the kick in the pants she needed to stop running and start facing shit.
They'll be doing some more talking in 26, too. And I hope the extent of his growth will show more there.
"He's a good man who has a good heart but unfortunately has made some terrible choices due to his circumstances." THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Yes, this is what I'm trying to show for him. He's just a human, who has been put though extremely shit circumstances. He made some bad choices, much like Pocket has, and he's learning from them!
I so appreciate you saying there's no villain between the two of them. They are just two truly flawed individuals. Cunthage is the only villain in this story! <3
As always, I love hearing from you, and picking your thoughts! You make my day!

i'm gonna bitch about 3reload just to get it out somewhere instead of swimming around my brain. i hope to be proven wrong once i get to actually devote more time to it in a few weeks but there's some things that i'll never be happy about lol
the 5ification of the game really bothers me, and it feels like style over substance but still lacking soul. I'm of a firm belief that what works for one game doesn't work for another, and the heavy stylization and graphical nature of 5 doesn't work for 3 imo
like wow yeah the menus are fluid (literally) and there's some super stylized design going on, but how does such design serve the game? the jagged edges, graphic art stylization and asymmetry worked for 5 because it was reminiscent of a ransom note and comic books. the same design points are in 3 because....? the water is here because....? sea of souls? because it's blue? it feels like everyone lost their minds over the ~style~ of 5 and so they decided to do it again
the element icons are atrocious and so difficult to understand at a glance, the exclamation to mark weaknesses is a poor choice. the one thing they really should have copied from 5 is the one they didn't.
the portrait redesigns also got hit. junpei is pale as hell, like they forgot to give the oranges and pinks and yellows of a living person to parts of his face. The Same Face is popping up, Yukari looks like Generic Cute Girl with the same face as nearly all the girls in 5. The expressions are softened, too, her original angry portrait showed disdain but now it's just kinda frustrated. i don't care for the stretched skeleton models, but that was a complaint i had for 5 as well.
voices are a personal thing and some people really like them or hate them. i think the ENG direction for aki and yukari wasn't great, they're both very chipper when their previous directions were a calm veneer just barely hiding intensity, and annoyance constantly peeking out from a stepford smile all the while hiding a deep resentment. these are things that are picked up within moments of meeting these characters in the original, we immediately get the realization of "oh these kids are more fucked up than i thought". they've both lost their edge with the new direction, and personally i don't like smooth voice akihiko but that's a me thing. junpei is great, the VA had a huge amount of pressure on him to perform and i think he's the best in the cast, keeping a similar tone of voice but with his own spin. mitsuru is fine. i think clarke only has like 3 voices so i don't hear the character so much as i hear her - this was an issue i've had in other games too. i have not yet heard shinji, but given the choices made for aki i'm not holding my breath. i'm especially worried about ken.
and the music. the music got hit hard with the 5ification stick. it's lost the grime and funk, why can't i feel the percussion and bass in my stomach anymore? the lady singer sounds like she's too embarrassed to actually get into the song, the pronunciation of 'baby' is jarring every time, they changed the dorm theme for some reason??? they added a new song for getting the drop on shadows? for that particular complaint they were stuck between a rock and a hard place, though; if they used Wiping All Out it would just (rightfully) piss off the FemC fans even more, so now they have to use a (imo) bland song instead.
i'm not even getting into the FemC thing. she deserves more, though.
idk maybe i'll like aigis this time
