You know, regarding Lloyd's achievement in history and whether ordinary citizens know him or not made me crave post canon modern au.

Imagine seeing an in universe fanfic authors notes in ao3 or twitter crying about how they simply wanted to write a story set in Lloys time but they just keep diving into rabbit holes.

Maybe someone from Beneto Kingdom being so confused because all he learned from history in school (Beneto history) is that Lloyd is just some brilliant engineer so he got specially confused on why in the movie he was watching set in Alician era is Lloyd fighting a goddamn bone dragon.

I'm interested on how scholars and political figures bemoan and analyse Lloyd's action and achievement but ordinary people's Internet discourse could be so much fun as well.

oh my god forget changing the history of civil engineering forever, sparking the nastiest discourse ever on history/fandom internet forums is lloyd's true greatest achievement akshfksdg

he's the go to historical domain character used to set the time period for a historical movie/book/series. he's the guy writers insert to give their work a more period accurate vibe. everyone knows just enough about him to make really passionate history nerds very angry about all the inaccuracies and made up facts that are taken as common knowledge.

i'm thinking people of completely different online circles all knowing about lloyd in some capacity but regarding completely separate facets of his life and work and being so surprised when they accidentally find yet another whole field lloyd revolutionized. like.

a sword nerd who's really into the concept of the asrahan core technique and knows perfectly well that lloyd helped invent it getting gobsmacked about the fact that's the same guy that laid the ground for modern sewer systems.

a fan of historical romance stories who is used to seeing lloyd as a fun cameo in the background of stories set in the alician period being really confused when they open their book on thermodynamics and see there's a whole chapter dedicated to a method lloyd figured out to create ice without the need of magic.

a train enthusiast who is really fascinated by the rudimentary switchback system lloyd frontera implemented when the concept of a train wasn't even known in the empire being completely dumbfounded when their friends invite them to see a movie about that one time lloyd frontera and his knight defeated a knight of hell in namaran.

i think it's definitely a meme to post "so i was doing research for my asfahan au and went on a rabbit hole and guess who fucking built the qanat that's widely regarded as the only reason the kingdom didn't fall into civil war. take a wild fucking guess" "was it lloyd frontera" "IT WAS FUCKING LLOYD FRONTERA OF COURSE IT WAS"

i'm also certain there would be some guys who think he's overrated and people should really stop talking so much about him when there's so many other historical figures who are just as interesting and not as recognized 🙄. to which people immediately go "mad cause your history blorbo didn't defeat a bone dragon aren't you" at them

they definitely get the alexander and hephaestion treatment you are so correct. they're also the achilles and patroclus of the modern magentano girlies. there's a bunch of 'queer retellings' of their lives. they're the go to example for homoerotic friendships. there's a bunch of edits that mix historical paintings of them with ship fanart with that 'history hates lovers' song playing over them. dudebros get really angry about it. llojavi truthers pull out their 20 pages long annotations that start with "they fucking slept in the same bedroom for years" and it only gets worse.

there's one poor person online who just really fucking wants to know how and why lloyd frontera changed faces one day out of the blue with no one ever explaining it. there's no official records. no member of the royal family ever made a statement about it. why is everyone acting like the frontera family didn't have one eldest son for 25-29 years and one day suddenly had a completely different one. what the fuck is going on.

for morrotober i posted a pirate au thing, and like 2 ppl were interested in it, but then i didn't think about it for a while KJSHFKJKJH but uhhh yea i have a full fledged treasure planet au because i can't keep away from funky alien stuff

here's the crew! minus wu bc he didn't fit into the scene but he's here in spirit lol (he's the captain) he can be taking the photo

brief synopsis before i go ramble under the cut: kai, cole, jay, and zane all met when they stole the golden tech-weapons from a museum, then when the weapons called them all to each other again, they formed a crew to take down garmadon and then just do general space pirate stuff. they're only considered pirates bc they do slightly illegal stuff in the name of good, but everyone hails them as heroes (except the actually bad pirate crews they dismantle)

kai, nya, and cole are humans. well, cole was human but i'll get to him later. this is a universe where humans are space orcs, so they're referred to as deathworlders more often than not. jay's an alien, raised on earth, and lloyd is half alien, raised on a moon colony. zane and pixal are automatons, though built on different planets, so their technology is a bit different. wu is fully alien and the same species lloyd is.

speaking of which, wu and lloyd are the captains. wu is the actual captain, and lloyd is the captain that they show off. he has a cool mech suit that hides the fact that he's a child (bc i didn't age him up). they're a species known as dragoni, ancient beings of creation and destruction that have witnessed the birth of the universe. wu hides his status as a dragoni from the public, and lloyd hasn't quite learned how to shapeshift his dragoni traits away.

nya's the first mate because she makes good decisions and also has a mech suit, and she's absolutely terrifying. people are right to fear her, and most of the time are more afraid of her than they are of the actual captain.

kai's the fighter and crew big brother. he's always the one to make sure everyone's safe and accounted for, and he's the one that takes the longest watches (other than the automatons and cole). he's also, alongside wu, in charge of finances, and can handle weapons in a pinch. he kinda does anything he wants on the ship tbh

zane's the cook and sniper. he likes ranged weapons and is pretty adept with guns, so he likes hanging out in the crow's nest to keep an eye out for things. he's also the only one who can cook, so they trust him to make good food.

jay's the engineer and shipwright. he's a species known as a lectrite, which have an innate sense for when lightnign's about to hit. he also can tell when storms are coming, so he helps pixal with navigation if they see a storm on the horizon.

cole's the muscle and helmsman. he's an infected ghost (because the ghost species pass on the "curse" through infection), used to be human, and the strongest member of the crew. he doesn't really need his legs anymore, so all his strength is in his arms now.

pixal is the navigator and other helmsman, when cole isn't available. she's also one of the best fighters on board, and is unafraid to kick ass. she might as well be the second mate at this point, because she kicks just. so much ass. she's so cool. she also assists with shipwrighting stuff with jay.

"Where the fuck is she?"

The harsh booming of his voice as he entered the room had Lloyd's men scrambling to attention in record time. Standing in the doorway with a ruthless expression sprawled across his face, the dark-haired man brought a hand up to run over his mouth as he tapped his foot impatiently, unimpressed at how many moments went by with no verbal answer. "I see," he growled, eyeing the four men who all stood around him anxiously, exchanging glances with one another as they struggled to form words. "Someone better start talking, or I'll start fucking shooting," the boss snapped, placing his other hand on the handgun secured tightly in his belt.

"She's upstairs, recovering," the bravest of the bunch finally offered up, trying to hide the tremble in his voice. "Her wounds have been tended to. I can bring you to her now if you'd like, sir."

Hand falling down from his mouth to his hip, Lloyd nodded, his exasperation clear on his face as he continued to berate, "Okay, and would you like to tell me, Dean- since none of the other idiots in this room decided to bring their fucking voices to work today- what the hell exactly happened during her transport here? And why the absolute fuck I wasn't alerted- immediately?"

Swallowing hard, Dean wrang his hands out behind his back, replying meekly, "I-I... there was an ambush, sir. We lost two men-"

"Well obviously!" Lloyd blurted over him, anger raging in his pale blue eyes as he looked around at the faces before him. "At this rate, I wish they would've killed more of you! Useless fucking- fuck," he cursed, kicking at the leg of a nearby chair. Holding their breaths as they watched him, his men didn't dare respond; by now, they were used to his constant outbursts, knowing the safest thing to do was to just stay silent and still.

Sweat beading on his forehead, Lloyd muttered a few more choice words beneath his breath before smoothing back his hair, regaining his composure slightly as he began speaking again. "Bring me to her. And as soon as I shut those doors in your face, you come straight back here and call in more men. I don't care who you have to call. I don't want a single square foot of uncovered territory within a fucking mile of this building. Do you understand?"

"Yes boss," Dean agreed quickly, beginning to lead Lloyd out of the room before he stopped, turning back to face the remaining three.

"And who exactly was it that left my princess uncovered?" he questioned carefully, his glare powerful enough to burn holes through the agents as they looked at each other nervously. "Surely someone was closest to her, someone should've taken the hit."

"I-It was Mike, sir. Mike was sitting next to her," Dean spoke up from behind the group.

Turning his attention to the shorter redhead, Lloyd smiled with a light sigh, almost a chuckle as he addressed the young man. "Mike. Oh Mike, that's such a shame. You were the least obnoxious of you group of fools." Drawing his gun with a shake of his head, Lloyd showed no hesitation as he planted a bullet in the agent's head, clicking his tongue in satisfaction as the body hit the floor.

Turning back to Dean, he tossed his gun on a nearby couch. "You know the rules, no munitions around my angel," he reminded the men. Every head in the room offered a nod at the boss's words. It was known amongst the entirety of the team that Lloyd's girl didn't like to see him holding any weapons; they were much too scary for her little mind to handle. It was one of many strange features of the couple's relationship that any outsider would probably fail to understand or even believe, but of course, no one on the inside ever questioned it. They knew better.

"Of course, sir," Dean dared to acknowledge, motioning a hand towards the door. "If you'll follow me, she's right this way."

"She's just down this hallway, sir- last door on the left."

"Good," Lloyd muttered, sticking his hand out in front of the man beside him to stop him as he continued his determined steps forward. "Now get back to work. And try not to fuck it up this time."

Dean didn't need to be told twice, promptly turning around to head back the way they had come. And as Lloyd finished making his way down the hall, from the front view, all physical signs of his aggression disappeared as he prepared himself to step into his other role, his favorite and most important role- a role that only one other person on the planet got to witness firsthand. Stopping at the grand set of doors leading to the bedroom, he ran his hands over his belt and pockets once more, double-checking that he had no traces of his work left on his person. After a final glance back down the hallway to ensure that no one but his intended audience would hear, he reached out and knocked gently against the thick barrier, the simple action the most delicate thing he'd done in weeks.

"Y/n?" he called in, his voice like that of an entirely different man from the monster who just shot an agent minutes earlier downstairs. "My love, are you in there?"

Not hearing any response, Lloyd carefully twisted the door handle, stepping into the room slowly in case you were sleeping. Looking around at the lavish golden decor, he found your little body curled up amongst the fluffy blankets and pillows covering the bed, the large king-sized mattress seeming to swallow you up as you drifted in its center.

Raising your head slightly, you peered warily over at the door. Normally, the sight of your daddy returning to you after weeks of being apart would send you running straight into his arms. But after the traumatic afternoon you endured, all you could manage was a soft whimper in the man's direction, causing his brow to furrow in concern as he closed the door behind him, making his way over to you as he let out a sympathetic hum, "Oh sweetheart. My poor angel, come here. Come to Daddy." Resting on the edge of the bed, Lloyd's heart broke in his chest as he watched you cower back slightly from his invitation; yes, he did have a heart. But only for you, only ever for you. "My sweet little girl, it's okay. Daddy won't hurt you, I left all my things downstairs. Know those are too scary for you, too dangerous. Never scary for my baby- right, angel?"

Lifting your head a bit again at the man's soothing words, your wide eyes ventured up to meet his, warmth spreading through your tummy as he gazed at you lovingly. "There's my pretty girl. Come here, sweetheart. Daddy wants to hold you. Missed you so much- and someone told me you got an owwy today."

Nodding gingerly, you forced your sore body up to a sitting position. At the sight of the large bandage wrapped around your arm, Lloyd began to coo softly again, "Oh, my sweet baby. Come here, come on," he coaxed again as he opened his arms for you, his touch brutally soft against your skin as he eased you onto his lap. "There she is," the man smiled, cradling you with an arm behind your back to allow you to rest your full weight against his safe embrace. "I got you, princess. Daddy's here now; you're safe."

Turning your head inward, you buried your face in the soft fabric of his shirt, tears prickling at your eyes as silent sobs begin to wrack through your little body. "Shhh, shhh," he soothed, running a tender hand over your back as you cried. "I know, I'm so sorry, sweetheart. Daddy's so sorry, so sorry he didn't protect you." Rocking you gently in hopes of calming you down, Lloyd struggled to fight back tears of his own as he was faced with the reality he had just spoken aloud: he had failed you. Unintentionally, yes, but it was all the same to him. It was his job to protect you, to do everything in his power to keep you safe and cared for. That was the one thing that mattered to him in life, and he had fucked it up.

"Baby, baby, baby," he murmured, leaning down to press his lips into your hair. Breathing in the familiar scent of your shampoo, the man couldn't help it; silent tears began trailing down his cheeks as he tried to keep his voice from wobbling while he spoke to you. "Listen to me, please. Never again. Never again will I leave you, my love. No more time apart, no more endless weeks without me. It's done, angel. It's all done; I'm not leaving you again. Daddy's gonna keep you safe. I mean it, I'll gonna do it myself. I'll never fail you again. Never fail you again."

Lifting your head up to look into his eyes, you're met with pools of watery blue, full of grief and regret; as gently as you can, you plant a kiss to the man's wet cheek, earning a soft smile as he reaches up to cup your chin in his large hand. "Thank you, Daddy," you whisper sweetly, the sound of your precious voice causing Lloyd's heart to swell.

"Anything for you, my love." Rubbing his thumb against your soft cheek, all he could manage to do was look at you, wondering to himself what he ever did to deserve something as pure and wonderful as the miracle sitting in his arms. "My little angel, my perfect girl. Daddy would do anything for you."

After you fought the Overlord, it was quiet.

Not in the sense of volume, but it was calm. Usually, you'd be restless, aching for a fight to keep the adrenaline pumping, but right now?

You were happy to have a break.

Especially with Cole. After months of figuring out feelings and sending mixed signals to each other (Cole had once thought you were in love with Jay — even though he was one, dating Nya, and two, you were asking the electricity ninja for tips on how to get Cole to like you back in the first place), he had confessed to you shyly and asked you out on a date. He took you to a coffee shop, and you guys just clicked. He made you happy, made you laugh, made you feel loved. And you loved him all the same.

Seven months after dating, he asked you to move in with him, as if you didn't practically live with him from the amount of time you spent at his home. Moving in with him was seamless, it was like nothing changed, except now you woke up with an adorable, snoring Adonis of a man, and went to bed with a giant teddy bear who basically melted in your embrace.

After you fought the Overlord, it was normal.

It was like nothing happened, adjusting to your new lives immediately. Obviously, you and your fellow ninja were celebrities all over Ninjago - you all were probably asked to give autographs five times a day, minimum. Meeting up with your friends was a frequent occurrence, all going to Chen’s Noodle House and enjoying Skylar’s amazing cooking while catching up with the others.

It was routine now, everything refreshingly the same, down to where you sat. You and Cole would take one of the booth seats, with Jay and Nya across from the two of you. Pixal sat down next to Nya, and Zane sat next to Cole, Lloyd and Kai at the head of the table (painfully single- much to Skylar and the rest of the ninja's annoyance).

All of you had surprisingly adjusted to normal life without fighting opponents twenty-four -seven very easily, though some had more difficulty than others.

Jay worked as a event host at his local comic shop, organizing mini conventions and trivia nights for fellow geeks such as himself.

Kai returned to the dojo he used to have, teaching children how to defend themselves so that they wouldn’t be as defenseless as he was when he lost his powers.

Lloyd helped his mom and Master Wu reopen their tea shop from so long ago, working the cash register and making people’s lives a little happier with a bright smile every day.

Nya worked as a mechanic in her free time, opening a garage and surrounding herself with what she did best: building. Jay stopped by on occasion, helping her with certain projects, but also joining her in tinkering with some spare

parts sometimes. Zane and Pixal had the most difficulty adjusting, their different appearances making them stand out like sore thumbs. But eventually, they found their home giving lectures at schools with a different perspective on certain topics, enjoying the ability to share

their infinite knowledge with others. And then there was Cole and yourself. Being a ninja of Nature, you worked at the local florist, finding it refreshing to be surrounded by so many plants whenever you could. You worked your magic with them, keeping the plants fresh and ending up owning the store yourself once the previous owner retired.

Cole worked as a barista at the local coffee shop, and you stopped by to get food and give him some company on your breaks. It was nice, you think, to spend some time together with him after years of constantly fighting who knows what.

You greet him, opening the door with a jingle, and walk up to him, as he was closing up.

"Hey, Rocky," you hum, leaning against one of the tables as he sets his broom down.

He walks over to you, hugging you close by the waist and resting his chin on top of your head, placing a soft kiss on your forehead.

"Hi, Blossom," he murmurs into your hair, and you take the time to just admire him. The curve of his nose, the small tilt of the corners of his mouth, showing that he was happy, the apples of his cheeks, the stubble that littered across his impeccable jawline. He smelled like the earth just after it rained, and ground coffee, one of the many things you love about him. His hair was artfully mussed, black tresses tucked underneath his visor, and you take it off his head, running your fingers through his hair.

It was just the two of you, standing inside the cafe in the light pf golden hour, drinking up each other’s warmth and love, together.

After you fought the Overlord, it was nice.

My opinion on Lloyd’s mental vs physical age argument.

Okay hello, I’m here to share my opinion on the Lloyd age situation, this is my opinion so if you aren’t happy with it then fine but atleast hear me out. For years now I have seen people argue that Lloyd’s mental age is younger than his physical age, so using my own experiences and maturity, knowledge from my biology class, and evidence from the series, I will show why I think his mental age was never a problem and why people see it as such.

In season 2 Lloyd uses the tea and turns into an teen, now his physical age is the same as the other ninjas, however everyone argues that he stayed a child mentally, so let’s break this down.

Physical:

To start I wanted to get into some more biology stuff (my bio class actually is being useful out of school lol), as you grow your brain must mature as well, and will continue to mature until you are in your twenties. So when Lloyd is turned into a teen, instantly that maturity in his brain is going to be more apparent, his body at this point is already going through puberty, we can already see that from his voice getting lower and his overall change in appearance, and as a reminder puberty is caused by hormones from the brain.

The way people have described this makes it seem like he still has a small child brain while his body is an adult, speaking of child brains.

Child behaviour/maturity:

In this section I will be showing how he acted as a child.

As a kid he was very immature and never thought things through. Surely after releasing two tribes and having them be friends rather than enemies you would know releasing another would be bad right? Well wrong, he is a kid and doesn’t know any better, his brain isn’t mature enough to understand that this is a bad idea. He never really took his responsibilities seriously and always tried doing other things to get his mind going in a way that entertained him, let’s be honest here it’s like going to school, you don’t wanna be there most of the time and can’t wait for recess. He was a child, his attention span was probably not great, and he was not mature enough to fully realize his destiny, yes he gets close but he never seemed like he had the full motivation to.

Teen behaviour/maturity:

Now let’s compare that to after he used the potion.

I noticed a change in his behaviour and maturity right away. We instantly see how mature he is when he calmly rejects the comics, how seriously he is taking his training, and overall how he is so responsible. He starts to behave more like the others and if someone who never watched the show came in around the time they all made it to the dark island they would have believed Lloyd was always the same age as the other ninja. By season 8 he is very mature and it’s no question if his age is younger or not.

Personal connection:

I’ve seen people argue he is still mentally young because he acts childish sometimes, or doesn’t know what some things are. Now I am a sheltered person, and that’s my own fault, I didn’t know what a kilt is even through my ancestors are Scottish. I am typically someone who hyper focuses on things so much that I don’t pay attention to much else, and I hate that about myself sometimes, so not knowing what some things are is not a reason to call someone a child. Also with acting childish I would like to once again refer to myself, since I didn’t have the best childhood with a lot of bullies so I notice I tend to act more childish now, I litterally was giggling like a little child when I was able to get two new Ninjago sets today (including DR Lloyd), I am a girl who is going to be an adult in a few years and I am here obsessing over a show about Lego Ninjas, so does that make me a child? No. And that probably shouldn’t make him a child either.

What could have prevented the age argument:

The main problem, his voice, if they changed his voice back when he aged up or season 3 then we would have had less of a problem. I think the fact that they kept a slightly deeper kid voice for him for so long hurt the character.

Wrap up + final thoughts:

Now I am not saying this as a way of justifying any weird ships like GreenFlame or any other ship involving Lloyd and the ninja, I still say that we should stick to whoever the creators give us an okay to ship him with or make ocs to because my boy deserves better. It’s still weird to ship people who are teenagers who knew him as a young kid so just stick to what is legal pls.

Personally I don’t think the age thing matters too much, especially in dragons rising, he is at least 22 by now, chill guys. And remember this is all my opinion, you do not have to agree nor will I force you to, but please keep it in the back of your mind, and remember this is just a LEGO show.

Anyway, here are some spoiler free ones:

If you watch the scenes of them first meeting, it reads very much as little children bickering on the playground, and that energy carries over very much into their relationship. There's a lot of teasing and one upping each other. Also, because of the years long time skip between their meeting and the relationship, you get the vibes of 'kid you kind of had a crush on when you were younger has become a more amazing version of themselves, and now it's impossible not the catch feelings hard'

Their dynamic is weird, because they are both intensely optimistic people, but in very different ways. Lloyd is all "I believe in the power of friendship!" and a Akita is much more "Friendship is obviously the most valuable asset you can attain in any circumstance, it comes with a number of strategic advantages." So, together they are an absolutely unstoppable persuasive force.

Lloyd is much more likely to be clumsily in love around her, but Akita is probably internally more of a mess than he is. Where Lloyd is conflicted about his romantic feelings and how they might be dangerous to both him and her, Akita is all together pretty confused at the sensation of romance as a whole.

When Akita is mad at Lloyd, she'll go into wolf form, as her version of the silent treatment.

someone asking where one of the other ninja are and Zane is looking away and trying so hard to be secretive cause someone asked to be left alone in the chillest and coolest space ever inside. Then he just looks like a sad puppy as he opens his chest plate and pulls out the wiggly fella cause they didn’t want to come out yet!

Oh every single one of the others is guilty of stowing away inside Zane for a bit if they need time to rest lol. He can change the colors of his stomach lighting, set any sort of requested ambiance, and even change the temperature if needed. Heck he could also use his stomach like one of those massaging water beds if someone wanted. He’s also got a game room further down in his guts and I think that would be the easiest place to get someone out of via his chest plate. His stomach doesn’t have an opening really so unless he disconnects a few of the tubes and squeezes them out it would be difficult to manually extract someone. But if someone is in his game room it’s pretty easy for him to just open the little box and grab them lol.

Usually it’s Jay or Lloyd who try and hide out in there so they don’t get drafted into doing chores lol, and Lloyd was especially guilty of hiding out there when he was younger. He’d give Zane pathetic little puppy eyes until Zane put him in the little game room so he could play some video games, buuuuut any time someone asked where he was Zane would pull the wiggly little fella out of his secret hiding place. No escaping chores on his watch. He still hasn’t found the secret stash of candy Lloyd hid in the game room tho, and if Lloyd has his way he never will.

Alright so this is completely random but let's say one of the Ninjas (and or OC's) got they're Arm stuck in a vending machine what in you're opinion would each of them do and who would they call for help?

Lmaooooo now THIS is a question xD

Kai: Gets stuck because his snack does that thing when it's wedged between the dispenser and the glass, and attempts to try and pull it out. Would call Zane for help because he'll take a scolding over everyone else just laughing at him for five minutes straight first snksnksnk

Jay: Would not get stuck in a vending machine as he has noodle arms and can also probably teleport out if he did get stuck, but also could just electrically hack the vending machine anyway, so nothing's getting stuck on his watch. ...Could probably only mentally handle calling Pixal for help, though.

Cole: Gets stuck just trying to grab the snack from the bottom door (they clearly don't make these openings for wide-armed individuals). Would call Jesse for help because he knows Jesse won't tease him for it (but Jesse wouldn't be able to get him out and so then they'd call Nya)

Zane: Would not get stuck in the vending machine because if he did, he'd just, like, detach his arm and then finagle himself out. Hopefully with no witnesses. If he did somehow get himself really wedged though, he'd call Nya, Cole, or Pixal (but I highly doubt he'd have a need to use a vending machine to begin with lol)

Nya: Gets stuck after the machine does that thing when it spins the dispenser but doesn't actually push the snack forward and after kicking and shaking the thing resorts to shoving both of her arms up there in rage. Would call Jay (because he wouldn't dare to laugh) but then Jay can't get her out so they call Cole.

Lloyd: Is not very likely to get stuck (as he too has small arms and the ability to hack the machine) but is also liable to be blinded by rage like Kai and Nya. So, on the off chance he does get stuck...he's calling Pixal. She's the only one he can trust with the know-how and the embarrassment. If Pixal's not there, then...this vending machine is about to not be
