Orpheus
(3k words, tw for canon-compliant suicide and mild self-harm, read it below or on my ao3)
Throughout his life, Wilbur Soot was a musician. In death, Wilbur Soot was a musician. In what came after...(Basically, if c!Wilbur had written all of Wilbur Soot's music in Dream SMP canon, how, and when.)
Full fic below :))
---
He’d always been a musician.
His dad’s best friend used to call him Orpheus. He’d be about to leave, standing in the door frame and he’d call, “Orpheus?” down the hallway. Wilbur would shake his head and cross his arms and answer, “Yes?” “Don’t look back.”
He’d taught him confidence: how to hold his head up, how to keep his voice steady talking to a crowd and, most importantly, how to hold his own with someone that wanted to see him burn. Some lessons less applicable to his future plans, but Technoblade thought it important he knew these things. Even for a budding songwriter, pockets lined with scraps of paper shrouded in scrawled lyrics and chord structures.
“Regardless of whether they’re laughing at your poems or crying at your songs, you keep your eyes on the crowd. It’s a dangerous world out there; I don’t want to see Phil grieving you.” “Relax, Blade,” His guitar was laying precariously in his lap as he leant back, arms behind his head. “I’m hardly going far. I’m not going to start any trouble.” Techno’s eyes seemed to glint, the flames of the fire reflected in his irises as he watched Wilbur across the room. A log crackled and tumbled into the hearth with a beat that could fit cleanly in a two-four bar.
“Well, don’t let anyone convince you you’re any more or less than what you are.” “What’s that supposed to mean?” “You know yourself better than anyone: your strengths, your weaknesses, what drives you to keep writing and singing. If anyone tries to make a myth or a mess of you-” “‘Know thyself, know thy enemy,’ right?” His eyes glinted back, the righteous fire of oats unsown, youthful energy and boldness. Techno resisted the urge to roll his eyes, “You can hold your own, we both know that. Don’t let anyone convince you you can’t.” He paused, “Don’t turn around.”
Wilbur blew a long breath between his teeth, “If I write you a ballad, will you stop telling me that.” Techno just laughed.
Yes, he was always a musician, leaving home with his guitar hefted over his shoulders. Waving at his father and his friend. Techno made the ‘turn around’ sign as he left.
Open mic nights and tavern gigs didn’t satisfy the itch, the hunger inside to create, to share, to make something people would belt at the tops of their lungs long after the alcohol ran dry and the torches burnt low. In the end, it wasn’t even his melody. That part vexed him, partially - his biggest hit and it wasn’t his melody - but he hushed the musician inside and tucked his guitar lovingly into his enderchest, to be brought out on special occasions or when Tommy looked a little low.
Playing by the light of a campfire, within the walls of a nation he built, fought and died for, ran, was all he wanted to do. When the volume of paperwork was insurmountable, when the treaties didn’t write themselves, when he spent countless nights gripping a tear-stained pillow, listening to Tommy and Tubbo staying up half the night in the next room, praying he could keep them safe - those notes, those words were his sanctuary. People spoke of how it made him a down-to-earth ruler; the President sat among his people, leading them in a soft singalong of the anthem, but he didn’t do it for optics. He’s a poet, not a politician (how on earth did this happen) and it felt good to retreat behind his guitar for a while. It gave him perspective: how far he’d come, how much further he could still go. This was so much bigger than a kid writing lyrics by the campfire in the garden. The special place they sang of, he made that happen. Playing by the fire, he imagined the future: retired, moved on from a life of public service, but still playing. Resting under his redwood trees, resolutely strumming that old guitar, safe in the nation he made.
It’s a shame it didn’t last. He remained a musician, but there would be no playing with aged hands within the black and yellow walls.
His hands were cold. He had always strummed with his fingers before, but after moving into that ravine, he started using a pick. His melodies sloped into sharps and flats, shaking fingers unable to find the right fret.
“Ridiculous, aren’t I?” Techno stopped walking, glancing down at the skeletal figure of Wilbur, swamped in a trenchcoat and curled around the guitar Phil bought him for his sixteenth birthday. “All that time in L’Manberg, I said I wished I had more time to write and practice, now I’ve got it and I can’t even be happy with that!” “Well, they do say tragedy makes good art.” “Mmm,” Wilbur gazed up at the ceiling of their cavern home, wrinkling his nose. “I’ve found it hard to know what to write about. All this time I was saving up ideas and now I have all this time and nothing- nothing’s working.” “Keep… Yeah, keep working at it. You gotta persevere with it, or something.” “Sweat your guts out,” Wilbur gave him a forced grin. “You got it, Blade.”
Techno didn’t hear it himself - he had been at his secret base at the time, putting together experimental weapons and mostly trying to not blow himself up in close quarters. He heard what it had been, though, the next time he went to Pogtopia and Tommy Innit ran up to him.
“You didn’t put Wilbur up to this shit, did you?” “Tommy, what are you talking about. I haven’t been here in two days.” Tommy took the deepest breath known to man, dragging his fingers through his hair and finding a number of tangles on the way. “Wilbur’s- Wilbur’s gone a bit… A bit morbid, in his song-writing lately.” He laughed nervously. “I thought the singing about stalking government officials and comparing his heart to a bleeding - literally bleeding - keyboard, was weird, but now he’s going on about- about blowing up L’Manberg-” “Oh really?” “Yeah! It was this creepy two-chord tune about burning the place to the ground and he was playing it over and over for hours-”
He finally heard it himself a few days later, tucked between the usual laments on past lovers and agonising teenage angst - two chords, over and over, echoing through the cavern, Wilbur’s voice reverberating after it like the melody and accompaniment were chasing each other the length of the ravine. He listened to the words - the ones he could make out - and heard the smile in Wilbur’s voice as he bastardised the lyrics of his own nation’s national anthem. That was brilliant for Techno’s plans, but, still.
He had a feeling the musician hadn’t listened to him.
“How does the story end?” Wilbur had been fourteen when they’d met and every bit the child his father had made him out to be. Curious, reckless, idealistic, a dreamer, an intellectual and a poet. Techno saw trouble coming down the tracks before anyone else did. But not quite like this.
“Well, the doubts in his mind grew to be overwhelming. Orpheus looked back and Eurydice was there. He met her eyes… and she disappeared.” He watched Wilbur form a chord on the neck of the battered guitar they’d found abandoned in the woods with clawed fingers. “...Then what?” “That’s it. That’s the end.” Wilbur looked up, “What happened to Orpheus after?” Techno thought for a moment before he spoke, “Well, like most Greek myths, there are a few versions. Most of them agree that he walked the earth lamenting his tragedy, singing about it. His songs were so full of sorrow they made mothers miscarry and willow trees bow their boughs - that’s where they got weeping willows. After that… I think the general consensus was people got so sick of him making them all sad that a group of them tore him apart.” “Just- Just like that?” “Yeah. Just like that.”
Wilbur, even in the pit of his breakdown, spoke of a symphony. Once a musician, always a musician, it seemed. L’Manberg was his great, “unfinished” symphony, he said. He rambled on and on to Techno and Tommy and cave walls about movements and variations, weaving notes between the peaks and troughs of the story.
“The explosions will be like percussion, finishing the final movement - which is ironic of course, because it’s unfinished, intentionally so. The silence after-” He closed his eyes and stilled, imagining it, a smile growing. “Yes. I’d like to hear the silence after. That’s how it’s meant to end.” He turned, trenchcoat flying out, to face Techno again. “Have you ever heard of the Curse of the Ninth Symphony?”
He had been standing at the back of the crowd, Dream whispering nonsense in his ear, trying to rile him up. Truth was, he already knew exactly what he was going to say. He’s an orator. But as the hopeful L’Manbergian’s hung on Tubbo’s every word, he instead watched the figure near the front that had just stepped down from the stage. He observed the conflicted expression on Wilbur’s face. He’d just witnessed the paradox  - backing Techno’s anarchy, denouncing the government and rejecting the presidency in the same breath he used to smile at his boys and hand power to Tubbo.
He watched the doubt creep in. And Wilbur looked back, past Techno, eyes glazed over, towards the hill where he knew the button room to be.
And L’Manberg disappeared.
The guitar came and went repeatedly. He wasn’t even sure how he had it sometimes. It was better not to think. Because thinking meant remembering. Just play. Just let your shaking hands find the right frets in the dark while you stare at the insides of your eyelids because if he had to look at the damn advertisements in the train stations satirising his downfall one more time he would hurl the guitar onto the tracks again, and who knew how he even got the damn things in the first place
Wilbur used to hate barre chords with a burning passion. Just buy a fucking capo. Who even has an index finger that strong anyway. Ghostbur, however, loved them. Finally, for the first time since he was like sixteen, he felt like he was writing melodies that made sense. They just flowed out of him like the water running under the L’Manberg highways. Like someone else had written them, and they were songs he’d always known. He finally felt like a musician again. Phil, his father, sat nearby, listening to him play in the November evening air. The sky was overcast, but the lanterns (his lanterns!) shone overhead like stars, lighting up the quiet marketplace.
“You used to play like that when you were little,” Phil said softly as he played on. “The brighter chords and stuff.” “Mm,” It made Ghostbur glow, sharing his music with his father again. He couldn’t understand why Alivebur had wanted to hide his lyrics from him. “Play the one about- walking boots? Again.” “Hiking boots,” he said with a light laugh. “Yeah, that one.”
They wrote as a duo, subconsciously: like a pair of writers in a band wrestling for creative control while simultaneously stealing all of each other’s ideas. Ghostbur would argue the ‘hiking boots’ song was about his son. Wilbur shouted back: it was about Sally, it was about shattered families, yes, it was about Fundy but not in the way you bloody think! Ghostbur smiled and played the songs until his fingers would’ve bled, were they corporeal. Wilbur screamed at the walls of the station until his voice was completely gone, beating at the walls with his fists, bloodying his hands until they could no longer hold the neck of his guitar.
Gradually, his hands healed. He tossed the guitar away in his rages so he didn’t smash it against the tube station wall (though he had tried it a few times and found it incredibly cathartic). In his infinite patience, waiting in the dark for salvation that would never come, he played better music than ever before. He made a makeshift capo from a strip of fabric ripped from his shirt and a piece of a shattered sign and played weeping melodies in wonky thirds and fourths. Music was his salvation: this time from utter destructive madness. More than once he bit at the skin of his fingers ‘till they bled, then used them to write chord progressions on the wall in rusty blueish-brown. He hummed the harmony line to his melodies as he played them and wished for another instrument, a way to record; literally any of the things he knew he could never have in this homemade hell. The lonely busker spent a decade serenading the empty platform with his songs of brutal tragedy.
“Did you say you’d thought of a new one?” “I did, I just want to tweak my lyrics-” “You’re rewriting my words… You know you need author’s permission to do that.” Ghostbur swore the songs just popped into his head, often almost fully formed, only requiring minor tweaks. He ignored the whispers in his mind in the voice that sounded like his own. Listening to that voice hadn’t gotten Alivebur anywhere. “Originally, the bridge was about trains, but now I’m thinking that’s not very relevant to here, where there are no trains. So I- hold on… I got it.”
Wilbur just scowled as his ghost sang of “barriers on the highways”. My genius is being pilfered, he thought. He picked up his own guitar and played along.
“There’s a reason / L’Manberg puts barriers on the highways / There’s a reason / They fail…”
In Limbo, there was very little melodic sound. Sure, there were trains rattling through every few hours, the wind whistling in the tunnels, and he could always shout ‘till his echo bounced out of earshot, but there wasn’t a lot other than that to be heard. His guitar had been the one thing that kept him from going truly ‘round the bend.
Groaning, screeching, screaming, wailing, scratching, shrieking: it was technically the most horrible noise Wilbur had ever heard in either of his lives. Yet, he loved it. In the blur of the train journey back Wilbur wasn’t sure of much. He heard the ear-splitting screeching, saw the weeping ghost, threw up out of one of the train windows and screamed along to the great noise, harmonising with it the best he could until they burst from the tunnel, light streaming through the windows, so bright Wilbur thought he was dying again.
Several days later, Wilbur was still singing. Sopping wet from the rain, one drink deep in a rowdy tavern where the whole world was warm and beautiful. Dimly, he was aware some of the pub patrons were giving him stern looks, but he was too deeply in love with life to even fathom that he could leave her behind again. No, he was singing, he was happy- no, ecstatic, to be alive, and emboldened by this latest turn of good fortune. He was a musician, and though he hadn’t found his old guitar again yet, he wasn’t going to be discouraged. As if it were Fortune herself daring him, a man appeared by the bar with an instrument strapped to his back.
“Evening, good sir. I couldn’t help-” The stranger in the trenchcoat with the immovable grin did not wait for him to turn around before launching into some half-prepared spiel. “-but notice the bass on your back. Do you play?” “I do, I do.” “Well?” “Yes, I would say well.” Ash had not been expecting to be quizzed on his musical ability that night, but it was a frequent-enough occurrence that he wasn’t phased. Until- “That’s wonderful. Do you have a job.” “I- Yes. I work here, actually. It’s my night off today.” “That’s fantastic. Quit your job.” The stranger was either absolutely plastered or a complete maniac. He allowed him the benefit of the doubt, “Why?”
The stranger flipped a strand of wet hair out of his eyes, “Join my band. I’ve got a drummer and a guitarist. And I sing. I’ve already written some songs, they- the others liked them,” He stood a little taller. “I think you’ll find us a worthwhile endeavour.” Despite the fact this entire encounter was completely ridiculous, Ash was inclined to keep following the thread. “What kind of songs do you write?” “Oh, pretty standard stuff,” He laughed, practically glowing. “Being jealous of your ex’s new man, being afraid of the future, making fun of past presidents. That sort of material.” Ash quirked an eyebrow, “Which past presidents would those be?” The stranger, Soot, grinned, “Any of them. All of them.”
Soot stuck a hand out, “What’s your name?” They shook, “Ash. Yours?” A sly smile, “You already know it.”
“Just one more thing, Ash.” Soot’s eyes were more tired now, darting up from the comm name and number he was scrawling on a napkin in a sputtering red biro. “One rule. For the band. Once you’re on board, you ride it to the end. You keep your head up high and no matter what-” He finished the number, securing it with an exuberant dot, and handed it to Ash. “You don’t look back.” Ash nodded, “Sounds good to me.”
In life, death and that which came after, Wilbur had always been a musician.

Depression really hits you hard when the 2 people up really looked up to, as you grow older, have hit the gutter
I don’t mean to drag on the name but I really haven’t gotten over Technoblade’s death. I’m used to people around me dying, young or old. But the key difference here is that they’re ready for it. They had no long term plans for the future, nor was there any future for them. They knew their end and they were content with what they had. Techno on the other hand… he had so much more, so much potential. He had many ideas, many plans, many projects that all went down the drain because of his end. Unlike the others, Techno accepts his death and had prepared not because he was ready, but because he had no other choice. Faced with an inevitability that was already set in stone, there’s nothing you can do but prepare …and prepare he did. He bid his final goodbyes, enjoyed his last moments, he even spared us, his viewers, a moment by leaving us a video and a note and a legacy, his legacy.
I think that’s why I never truly got over his death because, unlike the others, he had a potential to be more. He was destined to do more, to create more, to build more, to rise more… but I guess our assumption of his destiny was wrong. He still had regrets, I bet you, before leaving, but he has no choice to let those go, to let them go so that the burden he leaves will be lessened.
I still think sometimes that he’s just with his usual horrendous upload schedule or that he’s just busy doing Techno things. I still sometime look forward to seeing a notification from YouTube, or Twitter about his activity. I still sometimes instinctively check the techno update on Twitter to only be greeted with Technodad updates (no hate for the guy, absolutely love him, he’s helped us so much despite healing from grief himself too) I sometimes even trick myself after rewatching old contents that he’ll make more in the future. I don’t know how to deal with grief because I never had the chance to ever experience it. I’ve experienced death, but I never experienced a death that was not “meant to be.” I miss Technoblade, I miss the vibrant community of Technotwt, I miss the active and chill vibes of Technotwt’s SMP, I miss how the community would laugh, and joke, and cry (satirically) over wanting Techno-content. I miss him, and I miss everything that he brings.
The second person that I admire a lot was my old art teacher from elementary school. After catching up with my senior, an old friend of mine, he had told me that my old art teacher have passed away. I wasn’t surprised since he was old and was nearing his time, but I mourn his death all the same. I mourn his death not for the same reason I mourn Techno’s death. I mourn my teacher’s death because I never got to tell him what I did, what I’ve made, what I’ve become, what I’ve created, and what I’ve reached. I never visited him nor told him how grateful I am for his cheating during my years of being taught by him. I never thanked him for always putting in my name in every art competition to represent my class, my year, my school. I never thanked him for cheering me on and giving me advice on what to do with my art. I never thanked him. I never got to tell him how much my art has changed, how I can now draw perspective, how I can now draw a variety of things other than people, how I can now apply colour theory to my art.
I mourn for his death because I never got the chance to see his proud look, the same look he gives me whenever I won a competition, whenever I finished first in class, whenever I show him my art for the period. I never got to tell him that I got a scholarship to one of the best art school in my country, how I’ve joined an artist project and even dabbled in animation.
Growing up, I never really had a parental figure I wanted to make proud of. My father’s a dick and grabbed milk with his new family whilst my mother and I’s relationship was always strained. Especially with how much she wished I wasn’t me. I never really had a parental figure until he came into the picture. I never really saw him as one until I read all of those fanfics where either Phil or Sam became the teachers that the kids would want to make proud of. I never really thought I needed his validation until my senior mentioned it to me and oh how my heart broke.

alright, so!! i often tell my roommate about all the SMPs i’m interested in, which mostly includes Hermitcraft, Empires, DSMP, and the Life Series. and i tend to tell her about all the new stuff going on. occasionally, we’ll watch videos of Hermitcraft and Life Series together. sometimes we’ll watch some solo content from Mumbo or Etho.
i’ve made it pretty clear that she doesn’t need to remember the names or even really watch it, but she does actually enjoy it a lot. however, it’s a lot of content to keep up with and remember, which i totally agree!! while i love these SMPs so much, but i bet it’s gotta be hella overwhelming to newcomers sometimes.
anyway!! so. i just found out that she has apparently combined all these SMPs in her mind and i want to share her perspective with you bc it’s now my favorite thing ever, so here we go:
The MCU (Minecraft Universe) according to my roommate:
all the Minecraft SMPs combined should be referred as the MCU (Minecraft Universe) — this is literally what she calls them and i love that. according to her, there’s so many characters that crossover into other SMPs, it just makes sense to make it into a combined universe. it’s the best thing ever.
there are only 11 total Minecraft Men. that’s it. — this number actually went up bc originally she decided there were only 5??? she counted them out for me tho, and there are, in fact, 11 Minecraft Men.
there is also only one (1) Minecraft woman. she is also the only Minecraft wife — i think she’s talking about LDShadowlady bc i talk a lot about Joel?? but i’m not sure if she’s combined Lizzie and Kristin into one person. either way, she is the only Minecraft wife/woman to exist bc my roommate doesn’t know there’s more. (bruh, when i show her there’s more than one Minecraft woman, it’s gonna blow her mind ahdjskf)
the Minecraft Men are described only as “the husbandos, the guy with the demon boyfriend, the demon, and the child of one of the husbandos”
it’s pretty unclear who the child is, but i THINK she means Sapnap bc i kept telling her how excited i was that Sapnap’s favorite headcanon for his character is that C!Skephalo are his parents agajfkdkgkg
no, this doesn’t mean that Skeppy and BBH are part of the husbandos. i quickly realized this bc she doesn’t remember who the child is. he’s simply just known as “the child” and he has canonically gay parents apparently agdjakfk
when i asked her to describe the rest of the Minecraft Men, she gave me the following list (not in any particular order):
Technoblade (also known as “Piggie Potato War Man!!”)
Kakashi
the Flower Husbands<3
the “husbands that started a monopoly together”
that “one guy who confessed his love to a demon”
the Demon
the Child of the Husbandos
Redstone Man:)
Joel
after that, she decided to share some specific moments that she remembers, but doesn’t know which SMP they happened in, so they’ve just happened in all of them—
the wedding where the one guy tried to say that the demon was his boyfriend, but the demon immediately went offline and the guy was like “oh.” — this was the exact moment i realized she was talking about JOEY. SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT C!JOEY GRACEFFA GETTING REJECTED BY XORNOTH AT LIZZIE AND JOEL’S WEDDING AHSJSKFSHDJF
“there was once a cow heist bc someone stole all the cows” — apparently Jimmy and Scott’s Cow Heist during 3rd Life??? man, i loved that moment, but i was so surprised that’s the moment she remembered out of everything in 3rd Life (/pos!)
“there was a ranch that burned down that one time” — once again, i was not prepared for this shdjdkg. pretty sure that she’s talking about Double Life bc we watched a lot of Joel and Etho’s POVs of that one together
“and i remember there was a panda sanctuary that got burnt down!!” — she was so excited to remember this one?? shsjffks it was adorable. another one from Double Life
anyway, i’m planning on showing her all the character skins and letting her go wild with guessing names and such. she’s literally so excited to learn more and start figuring out who’s who.
for the record, she’s only watched a few episodes of the Life Series and Hermitcraft (plus a few Empires’ clips), but she’s only heard me talk about the DSMP and never seen any of those characters or even just most of the people of Hermitcraft, so this will be hella fun:)

So I'll Stay For Now; Cause I'm Tired Out
by leafmoment
“I should have said something when I saw you this morning,” Techno spoke quietly, taking a seat by the nurse's bed while Phil continued to pace around the little room. Then, louder, “Why didn’t you say something?”
The question hung in the air for a second, and Tommy just curled into himself a bit more. Emotions felt too complicated to sift through right now, and more than anything he just wanted to be rid of this migraine.
“Can we go home?” Tommy said into the sterile air in lieu of an answer, a little bit raspier than normal.
“Yes,” Phil breathed out, “Yes of course bud, whatever you want.”
OR,
Tommy has chronic migraines and doesn't tell his family about his most recent attack. Told from everyone's perspectives, the family works through it.

it’s interesting, you know? i can’t fathom that technoblade is gone, and not because of doubt or grief. because of you all. because of the countless amounts of art that pour out. because of the subscribers rising and rising. because of the stream of phil and wilbur laughing and telling stories of him. because of the donations and the award given by sarcoma. because of wilbur’s dream, and the little things people are experiencing in their lives that say ‘he’s giving a last goodbye’. because of the tributes and the memories and the recounts of all the ways he helped you guys through tough times.
i think maybe he never left.

My #1 post of 2022
“I had a dream I was playing minecraft. And I’d joined a server. I was streaming and I was basically bullying this other streamer who’d moved in next door to me. And, uh, halfway through, Technoblade joined the server. He joined and I told him to get in VC with me. And he joined VC and he was like, talking to me the way he used to and stuff. And he sounded oh so full of energy and excitement. And I ended up streaming in my dream for four hours. And eventually I ended stream and I told him how worried I was about him. I was like ‘I was really worried that you hadn’t answered my messages in ages.’ He basically responds ‘Ah no, man, I’m sorry. I’m not here anymore. But I just saw you dreaming about minecraft and I couldn’t let you get away with that, loser.’”

😅 and 👀?
😅 What's a story or scene you've created that you're a smidge embarrassed exists?
eeeeh, wouldn’t say there’s anything I’m outright embarrassed by, but there’s definitely a learning curve. Looking back on some of the things I wrote when just entering the fandom makes me cringe because I know how differently I would approach them now... Not even from a writing skill perspective (though that too), more as a ‘oh i don’t like these tropes any more at all’. Me demonizing the voices and typecasting Phil as just the ‘dad’ with no other personality come to mind. But then again, maybe that holds a certain charm? Character growth and all that! /lh
👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please!
Oh there’s one I’ve not talked before on here ;) It’s a really cool collab I’m doing with a friend who is also a super talented writer. If you enjoy Technoblade-centric dark sbi, vampires, and super dark fluff, you’ll be in luck >:D

i’ve had some sleep and i wanna put my thoughts down now. i’m gonna put it below the cut for any of my followers who don’t want this on their dash right now which i totally understand - but i wanna share with you all how i’m gonna remember technoblade.
i got into modern mcyt through smplive. i watched a lot of the lunch club guys, mainly schlatt and carson. i remember vividly watching them both during every minecraft monday, feverishly jumping between perspectives. i found techno then, and as most, i had no idea who he was. he was really good at pvp and dominated that competition, and that’s pretty much all we knew him as. i remember liveblogging the event to my friends and getting excited over how good he was, or posting memes on reddit about it. after schlatt and techno teamed for a week, i fell in love with his humor and personality and subscribed. it was one of the best decisions of my life.
smpearth wasn’t perfect, of course, but techno, together with pete and phil, took it and made something special and unforgettable. the antarctic empire pulled some of the best stunts i have ever seen on an smp, and the saint-malo trials is still one of the funniest events i was ever lucky enough to witness real time. i remember refreshing the smpearth map excitedly and laughing when i saw everything claimed by the empire - you have to have one kind of a brain to pull something like that off, and i’m never going to forget how fun and just... utterly ridiculous it was. thank you for the laughs.
the potato war speaks for itself. it was absurd, and watching it happen in real time was unreal. every update, every change in numbers, every taunt back and forth between techno and squid. it was intense, and at the same time so, so stupid. thanks for teaching me sun tzu quotes, of all things, while watching a minecraft skyblock video. and congrats on winning. you deserved it.
when wilbur and tommy were exiled from l’manberg and techno tweeted at them talking about helping out, i got so incredibly excited. it was minecraft mondays and smpearth all over again, in one. his character on the dsmp was one of the most unique and fascinating ones, he always cared about telling a good story, and he changed the flow of the storyline in so many unique ways. i don’t think anything on there would be the same without him. he made one of my favorite characters and at the same time made me hate him to his very core. i’m really gonna miss all of his storylines and the interesting things he came up with. it’s just not gonna be the same without him.
techno cared about his community and you could see that in everything he did. be it his interactions with his fans or even going out of his way to give us a final message, he always put us first and there are few youtubers who can say they are the same. he gave us great content, made us laugh every single day and made sure we got a final goodbye.
alex was a selfless, kind person who raised thousands for various charities over the years, and who raised the money to let his siblings go to college. he tricked all of us into thinking he was called dave, so fair play to him for that. i hope his family is doing okay and know how loved he was. i wish i could have gotten to know him personally, and gotten to tell him all of this myself. he sounded like an absolutely amazing person to know.
thank you for everything. blood for the blood god, technoblade never dies, etc, etc. i hope you’re happy wherever you are now, and  know how much we will all miss you. things just won’t be the same on mcyt without you. i like to think god hesitated a lot more than you thought he would.
thank you for everything, techno <3

i was watching a vod of wilbur explaining his writing during the first “season” of the dream smp and i was thinking abt how it contrasts the current arcs
wilbur said he didn’t want his writing to be character based but instead be about the environment and how characters react to changes in their environment and so overall, it tells one cohesive story and doesn’t have plot lines where one character does their own thing and then come back to the main story
i think the current writing is everyone writing their own character arc, which is fine and they should be able to do that if they want bc it’s their character; however, the problem is that there is a lack of communication between people (ex. niki not knowing the festival was on tuesday and her having to reschedule one of her streams) which then bleeds into a lack of cohesiveness among everyone’s character arcs. the audience is overloaded having to catch up on each individual stream and it doesn’t tell a greater story about the smp.
i wish people’s character arcs would intertwine and expand each other’s bc now i’m just left confused like jack manifold is doing something insane and somehow got his lives back? is that even allowed? niki and fundy could have pushed the downfall of lmanberg even further if they were included and have some even better moments of them talking to tubbo and tommy abt what lmanberg meant and why it wasn’t worth saving
this isn’t hate directed at anyone writing but a genuine criticism bc my mind is just muddled by all the events and in the end... lmanberg was destroyed and nothing came out of it... ppl continue to do what they do and i feel like the plot as a whole didn’t move anywhere. maybe there needs to be a single authority figure over the creative direction who takes inputs from everyone abt their character and bc i just rly want one cohesive plot that intertwines all the characters and moves the story along aside from blowing up the same place over and over again (which would be a lot of stress and work on that one person so i understand why ppl don’t do that but still)

hi !! i’m sorry if you’re sort of done with talking about the cc!techno lore discussion situation, but i wanted to weigh in, if that’s okay. (no pressure to respond !)
the whole thing sort of reminds me of this distinct disconnect i think audience members tend to see among [some] actors and their work - and i can tie this to my own personal experience of having been in varsity theatre in high school, and even to big-name movie stars.
for example, i was in a show called radium girls, and i was cast as this doctor character. i knew my scenes and my lines front-to-back - since that’s really important in giving a good performance - but when i wasn’t directly involved, i was backstage. as a result, if you were to ask me “hey, what’s the plot of radium girls?” i’d be able to give a brief synopsis based off of the parts i myself was directly involved in - but that would be the extent of it, y’know? my synopsis would definitely exclude a significant portion of the story - all of which is vital to understanding the other leads’ characters arcs, and the nuance of the plot itself.
we even see this from cast members of ultra-popular media, like marvel. you’re sort of like, “how could these actors be apart of endgame and not have a clue what’s even really going on?” - and the reality is, unless you make the conscious effort of becoming hands-on, and investing your time into becoming familiar work the material, you’re going to be a little out of the loop. (very sorry for rambling !!)
i think my point is definitely i believe cc!techno is entitled to his personal interpretation of the media he’s in ! especially considering he was involved in a lot of major overarching events. however, i just think he’s sort of viewing the story through one of those cardboard toilet-paper rolls, and he should probably re-examine it as a whole to get a better understanding. dsmp analysts do so much for the community - especially those on tumblr - and i’d love to see him connect with them more. you know, use that english major knowledge for good, rather than evil. (/j /lh)
while I certainly understand what you're saying here, and to an extent you aren't wrong, the problem is the Specific Context
1: technoblade was specifically engaging with the ways that the Audience interprets his character, trying to argue with the perception of him as a villain (or at least as villainous at the red festival), as well as point out several points common in discussion that he doesn’t like (such as the “age arguments,” which in context is the idea that his actions in the red festival were worse because the person he chose to kill was a teenager), which just isn’t the same thing as him having his own interpretation of the character based on his limited perspective.
to use your experience in theater as an example, it’d be as if you walked up to people discussing the play afterwards and argued with an audience member for criticizing your character’s actions and trying to explain why your character Couldn’t have been in the wrong based on the limited knowledge that you have. it’s not a productive conversation and nobody was asking for it.
2: not everything that technoblade said was his personal understanding of his character or his character's motivations. in fact the Majority of what he said was about Other Characters' actions, which becomes problematic both because he didn't have the context to understand those characters on a deeper level And because many of the things he said were just objectively wrong.
as an example: telling his audience that wilbur, tubbo, and tommy tried to kill him by withholding information about the plan is, an extremely bad take on its own. but it becomes worse when we have in stream evidence that tells us that wilbur Did tell techno what the plan was and what techno was supposed to do [Link], tommy's entire arc during pogtopia was about him Not wanting to blow l'manberg up, and neither tommy or tubbo had any reason to think that techno Didn't know (because wilbur had already told them that he was in on it), among other things.
he's not just wrong about the things that happened while he wasn't around, he's wrong about the things that he actively participated in and he's spreading that misinformation to his audience which already has a history of twisting canon to demonize the other characters and downplay the results of c!techno’s actions to absolve his character of guilt.
3: technoblade isn’t just an actor, he’s a writer. he has direct control over his own character, what arcs his character gets involved in, what his character does and says and when he does it. this is an improv roleplay and while there have been instances where there was an overhead writer organizing the events so they played out cohesively that’s long gone. technoblade’s understanding of the story affects how Everybody Else is able to tell their story around his character, which Matters when technoblade is involved in every major arc as of right now.
I talk about this more here [Link], but when tubbo wanted to dig into the consequences the red festival had on his character in more depth he put Quackity into the role as the person his character was angry at and wary of Because of the red festival, having his character absolve c!techno because quackity “forced him to do it” when quackity was openly begging for schlatt and techno to Stop and got hurt By Techno.
c!tubbo isn’t Allowed to explore his trauma From Technoblade because cc!techno isn’t willing to play along, isn’t willing to see his character as a villain or even as someone who made a Mistake. so the narrative had to Bend Around the obstacle that technoblade became in order to explore those feelings. which makes it all the more frustrating when techno apologists turn around and use that to further absolve c!techno of guilt by saying that c!tubbo forgave him and didn’t blame him.
it’s Detrimental to the storytelling of an Improv Roleplay when one of the improvisers refuses to play along.

technoblade & friendship with the syndicate
aka 'techno and the syndicate are friends (real) (not clickbait)'
any sort of collaborative story-telling has always been my favorite, holding a deep place in my heart, whether it be through TTRPGs or written role-play or a group of friends making up a story. and i've made it clear on this blog that rp is medium that you can't treat like a traditional story's narrative.
the first thing i want to talk about is perspective. specifically doylist vs watsonian (shout to @mossesandmushrooms for pointing this out). watsonian perspective seeks to explain things from within the text, using in-universe aspects only to explain or analyze the story. a doylist perspective uses real world or out of universe aspects instead.
you can see where i'm going with this, right
because of the nature of the dream smp being role-play, it won't follow a traditional narrative. and because of that, it's hard to analyze by a traditional stand-point. having to rely on other people to be able to move a storyline forward means that somethings have to be explained or shown in an unconventional way.
it requires a doylist perspective.
c!techno has developed a friendship with all the members of the syndicate, leading him to have some fairly impactful character growth/development. there's been a lot of discussion about this, mostly centering around the fact we don't see that friendship grow.
but there's two issues with that.
the first is real life issues have clearly impacted the cc's ability to play out the stories to their fullest. and this has to be taken into account because it's collaborative. it's role-play and that requires all parties to be present. with cc!techno being sick for awhile and the mental strain of all the targeted harassment, they had to cut planned streams to be able to stay on track with everyone else. so a doylist perspective would say 'alright, we know this was the intent, we're aware of the issues in real life, and therefore can understand that inconsistencies will occur but we can fill in those inconsistencies taking creator intent'.
because we do know what cc!techno and all the others intend, we do know that they consider their characters friends.
the second issue is that their friendship has been shown.
looking at the syndicate as a whole in a way is kind of defeating the purpose. as a whole, yes, the syndicate hasn't spent much time together. but the syndicate is about people first and the people have built friendships.
c!techno and c!phil 'go way back' according to both of them. their friendship is clear and firm, built on mutual respect and trust. they have the ability to disagree without breaking their friendship and they each bring something needed to the friendship. when techno was being dragged to his execution, his first concern was what had been done to phil. for his part, phil risked his life leaving house arrest to warn techno. they support each other and both of them have clear affection for the other.
c!techno and c!ranboo also have a firmly established friendship. even when they were on opposite sides, techno and ranboo were on good terms. techno returned the memory book when he found it, him and ranboo spent a good part of the green festival quietly talking, and techno stopped to check on ranboo after doomsday. the two have bonded across the forest mansion trip and the mentoring stream. ranboo gave techno an axe, knowing what the axe of peace meant, and techno was visibly moved.
with c!techno and c!niki, there isn't as much. but there's still moments that are important and build their friendship. niki helped techno at the red festival, trying to goad others into revealing state secrets and helped cover for him when people became suspicious. when niki revealed she burned the l'mantree, techno cheers her on. after, niki was the first person (outside of phil) that techno approached and asked to join the syndicate indicating that his pogtopia era suspicion of her was gone.
and there's all the small indications from techno's character during the birthday stream. he spends time making sure that niki gets to speak, he's comfortable with them, they joke around. cc!techno clearly shows us what his character feels about these people through those interactions and with the way he looks back to them during his conversation with quackity.
so while out of universe factors have hindered the creators in being able to tell the story in the way they wanted, we do see quite a lot of it, especially if we look at the individual friendships, especially if we take into consideration c!techno's extremely consistent behavior and way of expressing himself.
beyond that, this sort of story-telling medium genuinely requires a doylist perspective because of its nature and how deeply outside factors can affect the creators' ability to tell the story in the first place.

c!wilbur and c!tommy could have saved both c!techno and c!tubbo from the red festival
a good portion of the fandom will always talk about how c!techno was the only person in the wrong for killing c!tubbo at the festival
but we never talk about how c!tommy and c!wilbur let that happen.
(from this point on i'm dropping the character indicators because i don't talk about the ccs in this essay)
but that's techno's main point! techno truly was in a high stakes situation, and it was one that he didn't have a lot of options to choose from lest he were to DIE as a result. like, i don't know about you but i TOO value my life. but tubbo was definitely wronged! he didn't have to die.
technoblade DEFINITELY could have fled. he's a wonderful PVPer and i have no doubt he would have survived, however i don't know if techno could’ve said the same for himself. so while technoblade's choice was ultimately a bad one, he killed someone, i absolutely understand it.
and techno never denies that he killed tubbo, and that tubbo's death was a direct result of his actions. he apologized to tubbo, and tubbo, who is very well known for repressing his feelings and his trauma, accepted it.
however, techno doesn't know that and even if he was aware of that, it still wouldn't be on him to know. you have to take people's word on their own feelings because it's their responsibility to communicate how they truly feel. people are not mind readers.
(this is definitely something i've realized in my own personal life as of late, because i also used to repress myself and now i can't stop pressing my sibling if i do something like ask for her food she wasn't eating. they'll be like "yeah it's fine" and i'm like "are you sure" "yeah. im sure." "are you POSITIVE?" "yes omg how many times do i have to repeat myself?")
like it does a greater disservice to the person to NOT take their word for it than it does to just believe them when they say how they feel. it's on them to communicate how they feel truthfully, even if they do repress because of trauma. it's why processing your trauma is so important.
but i digress.
technoblade apologized to tubbo, because he knows what he did was wrong. if he didn't, he wouldn't have apologized.
however, something so many people have failed to realize, is that techno and tubbo share this experience of being wronged by wilbur and tommy as well.
tubbo's death was absolutely unnecessary not only because techno honestly could have had chosen at least one other route that didn't necessarily guarantee his death, but because tommy and wilbur could have stepped in.
tommy and wilbur could have saved techno the experience of killing his ally and they could have saved tubbo from dying.
but instead they watched.
and technoblade is at least aware of the wrong done to himself by tommy and wilbur watching and not acting. to be fair to tommy, he did want to act. he continued to ask wilbur about schlatt and techno, and wilbur continued to say that it would be fine. that techno would "exact their revenge".
however, the waiting was unnecessary. the hiding in the shadows was unnecessary the minute tubbo's life was threatened. it's unfair to put all of this blame on techno when there were so many other routes that could have been taken.
i don't know if it was intentional on wilbur's part, but i know that technoblade is not the only person responsible. honestly, the whole audience had some level of responsibility to stop the execution. so did quackity. anyone could have stopped it.
but no one did.
there was a lack of action from everyone. yet the fandom only focuses on technoblade because he was the one that pulled the trigger. but he didn't have to and he didn't want to. which, i feel like no one ever considers that.
technoblade didn't want to kill tubbo, and he expected tommy and wilbur to step in just like tommy and wilbur expected technoblade to instead kill jschlatt and quackity. if you watch his perspective you can tell that techno is nervous and panicking. i use the word panicking relatively lightly because this is a minecraft rp and it was still pretty touch and go in taking itself so seriously, but again, i digress.
at two points during the stream, he looks at tommy expectantly. one is of the variety that tommy couldn't notice because techno goes into 3rd person to look behind him, but one is where he physically turns to look up at tommy.
i think it's unfair to treat techno as this cold callous and calculating character on some of the fandom's part! to be fair, i feel like a majority of them haven't seen techno's perspective? i definitely didn't until today because i wanted to get my facts straight before i made this post. and honestly it just. further proved my point that techno is not the only person to responsible for tubbo's death because not only could he have taken other routes, but so could others. especially tommy and wilbur, who were directly involved with tubbo's espionage.
and i know this is an old argument but i don't know the fact that tubbo can also relate to techno in regards to wilbur's and tommy's inaction is really compelling for me and it only really occurred to me recently! i'd like to see techno and tubbo talk about it together honestly? but yeah!
TLDR;
a portion of the fandom views technoblade as the only one responsible for tubbo's death, when i think another large chunk of responsibility also falls on wilbur and tommy as well. theres also a point to be made about the responsibility of members in the audience who opposed the execution as well. tldr 2.0; techno isn't the only one responsible for tubbo's death.

adhd hit hard again and haven’t checked for typos yet, but will get on it as soon as I can o7
On another note if you want to read another comfort fic; I have a small series called “A Painful Reminder” which is more angsty but the 2nd part is more about the comfort, if that is something for you
Living in the SMP was chaotic, turbulent and at times downright painful.
Most people tended to gravitate to one cause or other people to deal with this. Holding on to something so they don’t get pulled under. Get buried beneath the chaos and the violence.
So having people like Y/N around was like a godsend. They were one of the few people that seemed to be able to withstand the constant waves of misfortune and stand strong. Be the rock to hold onto when everything got too overwhelming.
Wilbur, Technoblade and Tommy loved their sibling for it.
After Wilbur and Tommy got exiled with Y/N out of L’Manberg, they were there and cheered both of their siblings up. Immediately making plans on how to set up a safe home and collecting ideas on how to get back. They were the one who managed to get a message out to Technoblade and asked him to visit them. Maybe help them.
Wilbur often jokingly said that Y/N was the glue that held the family together, to which they would always reply with the warmest of smiles “I’m glad.”
And what he said was true. Whenever the family fell on hard times and they began to drift apart it was Y/N who pulled all of them back. Pulling them back to reality and giving solutions for their problems if needed.
Sitting down with Wilbur when things got to much. Listening to his thoughts and worries, letting his emotion run freely without judgement. While they looked worried for him, their comforting smile never faltered. Offering him solutions to problems if he wanted it, otherwise they gave him the chance to just air his own thoughts out. To be angry with him. Sad with him.
Working with Tommy on his own projects. Listening to his ideas and giving him a different perspective that could improve some things but also respecting it when Tommy wanted to do this his way. And while he liked to brag and pretend that some things didn’t hit him that hard, they were still patiently listening to him as he spoke about his own pain in a more roundabout way. Telling him that he was not alone and making him feel heard.
Talking to Technoblade whenever the voices got too loud or out of hand again. He would just walk over to them and nudge them away, asking them to talk about something, no matter what. He just needed to hear their voice and be able to concentrate on it. Tune out the garbled voices in his head with a familiar sound that calmed him down no matter what. Leaning against them, slowly falling asleep as Y/N told all about how they were happily working on their own farm and what shenanigans they got up to.
Y/N really was like the warm sun on a cold day. Warming them up and protecting them.
Yes, Y/N was strong. So strong that even Technoblade considered them stronger than him. Maybe not physically but mentally and emotionally.
A clanging of metal rung through the cave. Techno was training with Wilbur while Tommy was just watching. Cheering on Techno.
It wasn’t an unusual situation and something Y/N expected to see as they made their way down the staircase. Wilbur in full iron armor and weapon while Techno just fought back with his own iron sword.
“Hey, Y/N! Welcome back!” Wilbur breathed out. Sweat running down the side of his face as he stopped attacking his brother.
The three men looked happily over to their sibling who slowly walked towards them but soon their expressions fell. Something was off about Y/N and it confused the three.
Their smile was as always plastered on their face but it looked strained. Their eyes wide open, trying to look sincere and loving but the glassy look of them gave off a different picture.
“Y/N? You okay?” Tommy asked as he stood up from the ground. Taking a step closer to them which made them in return stop in their tracks.
Y/N was hugging themself, shakily opening up their mouth to answer but nothing came out. It was then when Techno got very aware of how they were shaking in general.
This all seemed so wrong. This shouldn’t be possible. It just didn’t seem to register fully inside their minds.
Wilbur made sure to get rid off his sword and armor as fast as he could, walking over to his sibling, trying to get a better look at them but they just avoided his gaze.
Staring at the ground, slowly shaking their head “It’s- It’s fine. I’m fine.”
“You aren’t. You really aren’t. What happened? Did they find you?” Techno asked, his voice full with worry. A bit of anger hidden as well.
Y/N had their own little farm in order to support Pogtopia. The potatoes from Techno were great but variety is important after all. Though they also had an abundance of wheat they usually tried to smuggle into Manberg for Niki. Trying to help her out as much as possible with her taxes and work.
This time Y/N nodded “They did… It’s fine though. I’m fine. I’m not hurt. It’s all good.”
Wilbur’s frown deepened “Usually when people have to be so adamant about being okay something isn’t alright.”
Tommy nodded, supporting his statement only to whisper to himself “Adamant? What does-“
But Wilbur continued “We are your family, talk to us.”
Y/N licked their chapped lips “I’m-“
The tears finally escaped their eyes and begun streaming down their face. Sobbing they fell down on the ground. Wilbur immediately followed suit, laying his arm around them and pulling them against his chest. His hand flew up to their head and begun going through their hair, trying to calm them down. Humming a soft tune from their childhood.
It was the first time in their lives they saw Y/N break down like that and it was quite frankly shocking.
Unsure what to do with himself Tommy squatted down “Um, uh, what- what happened?”
Techno was still gripping the iron sword in his hand. Pacing up and down. Manberg found them? What the hell did they do to make Y/N break down like that? His own sibling! Whatever it was he would make sure to pay it back a thousand times over.
“Tommy can you grab them some water?” Wilbur laid his chin on top of Y/N’s head, rubbing circles now on their back.
He didn’t even hesitate, jumping up to run towards one of the chests with food items that Y/N had always ready for them. Grabbing a water bottle and running back over. Happy that he could do something else besides staring.
Tommy then pushed the bottle towards Y/N who gratefully took it, putting some space between them and Wilbur as they drank some of the cold liquid which helped them to calm down.
“You ready to tell us what happened?” Techno stopped pacing around. His gaze purely trained on his crying sibling. Anger still rising in him just like the voices.
Screaming things like “Technosib! How dare they hurt them! Protect them! I love Y/N so much! Why would anyone hurt Y/N! They always help us! Let’s help them for a change! Technosib! Let’s go out and fight them! Yeah! Blood for the Blood God and Y/N!”
Y/N’s voice was still wavering and a bit scratchy from their sobbing as they begun speaking “Hey, hey! Techno don’t concentrate on the voices. Listen to me. It’s all good.”
This somehow made Techno angry. He threw the sword away and finally knelt down next to them as well so his face was on the same eye level as theirs “Stop. Please. Stop thinking about us for one second. Stop trying to not make us uncomfortable or worried! Tell us what happened! Please.”
He was basically begging at the last part. All his worry packed into it.
“Yeah, honestly you trying to make sure everything is okay for us makes us even more worried.” It surprised the others a bit that this came from Tommy but he was correct.
Tears fell down their face again “I- I was just delivering more wheat to Niki and someone must have followed me. They followed me back to my farm and- and- they burned my fields down. There were explosions. I- it was just my farm. I did not harm. Just, why does it always have to end like this. Why do all the good things always end like this. Why can’t this place let something be. There is always something.”
The farm was so important to Y/N. It was their little project they put so much sweat, love and work into. It was their home away from home. A place to retreat and enjoy some peace. This obviously was devastating. It was their one thing they had for themself. The one thing that wasn’t there for anyone else but them.
It was also clear that this seemed to be the straw that broke the camel’s back and it broke the three a bit that they only now seemed to notice this. That it took that long and their whole farm being destroyed for the realize this was heartbreaking.
“Who?” Techno urged but Y/N shook their head.
“I don’t know. Everything went so fast and I tried to save as much as I could but- but it’s all gone. It’s all gone.” Their voice jumped up an octave at the end, burying their face against Wilbur’s shoulder again. Silently sobbing.
It should have been impossible but Wilbur’s frown deepened and his expression turned more grim “Don’t worry. We will get back at them. We will get our revenge. They will see firsthand what they did to you, I promise.”
Shocked Y/N looked up, their red and puffy eyes wide open “Wil, that’s not what I- no revenge. There is already too much misery going around I just want this to stop. I just want all of us being able to live in peace.”
Wilbur should have known that Y/N was too good natured for that but he couldn’t help himself. He was just so angry. Angry at Schlatt and Manberg. That they went for him was one thing but to go out of their way to treat Y/N like this? Let’s just say he put it on the list in bold letters with reasonings on why he will get back at the Manberg faction.
“Listen Y/N.” Techno begun, his voice now calm again “Stop it. Just for once think about yourself. Stop thinking about others for once. You are also worthy of the same care you give us. Let us at least help rebuild your farm. You always help us with our projects, let us help you with yours.”
Tommy seemed to lit up at that “That sounds like a good idea! We could build towers around your new farm and make sure no one gets in! We could put down traps and all!”
He really wasn’t sure how to react but that was at least something he could do for them. As the past General’s right hand man, this should be something he can do. If he couldn’t protect his sibling how could he ever hope to get L’Manberg back.
Wilbur seemed to think about it for a bit but agreed “Yeah, how does that sound?” Though the dark glint in his eyes stayed. The cogs in head still running off with his own thoughts.
“You guys would? Since when can you guys build?” a dry laugh escaped them but it was a laugh nonetheless.
Both Tommy and Wilbur looked almost appalled at that claim while Techno just shrugged and nodded. Just looking around Pogtopia was more functioning than good looking after all. Y/N tried to pretty it up a bit but usually something always happened around here.
“Also Y/N, please talk to us more. Don’t bottle everything up. Please. We worry a lot about you and we love you. You always do so much for us, let us do the same.” Wilbur pushed Y/N a bit off of him and looked them deep into their eyes, hoping that this would really hammer in that this was a genuine plea.
As a respone Y/N wiped the tears off their face “I understand. I’ll try to remember that.”
“Don’t try just do it.”

VOD LINKS:
Foolish
Technoblade
Awesamdude
Ranboo
Captain Puffy
Karl
Tommy
Eret
---
- A creeper explodes in Michael’s room. Ranboo is upset and confronts Foolish.
- Foolish starts destroying Michael’s room
- Ranboo gives him some gold blocks and he stops. Ranboo leaves.
- Foolish quits and puts the house up for sale
- Ranboo goes over to Foolish’s summer home to speak with him. Foolish tells Ranboo he’s quit. He’s not getting paid enough.
- Ranboo suggests Foolish take some time to recharge at his temple, and that he’ll pay him more.
- They talk a bit about the Egg. It hasn’t done much in a while.
- Foolish tells Ranbo about his plans to create a new statue.
- They reflect on how things have been pretty quiet lately. There hasn’t been much conflict.
- Ranboo leaves and they both continue on their work.
- Tommy sees that all his chests in his house are gone. He’s not sure when it happened, but he decides that he has to appear richer now.
- He wants to hide all his things in a secret chest
- He goes over to Fundy’s old underground base to hide it there
- He returns to his base and starts mining down the statue above his house and Puffy’s Prank Wars stand.
- Tommy works on building the tower near the prison and chats with Tubbo, Jack, Quackity and Wilbur throughout
- Karl shows Lil Nas X around the server with Corpse and several other SMP members
- Eret wants to overthrow the Egg. The Blood Vines are everywhere, people are under its influence, it’s not good for the greater good of the server.
- He thinks the Pro-Omelette people haven’t been doing enough recently, though he’s in support of them.
- He sees that Foolish is on and asks if he’d like to help destroy the red.
- Eret knows that blue soul fire is the best way to neutralize the Blood Vines.
- She’s hesitant to attack the Egg, because she doesn’t know what would happen. If he breaks the Egg, there’s a possibility that it would unleash whatever is inside it and she doesn’t want to risk that.
- Foolish joins the call and they chat. Foolish arrives at Eret’s museum.
- Foolish tells Eret that his statue was warding off the Egg for a while, but it got blown up. Eret asks if they should make an operations base to make plans at.
- They look for a fitting place and decide to use Fundy’s underground base.
- They create a room in an offshoot of the underground base together and create a board on a wall:
“Known Eggheads”
Leader: BadBoyHalo 2nd In Command: Antfrost
Punz
Ponk
“Potential Eggheads”
Hannah
Skeppy
Purpled
- They leave and go over to Foolish’s Temple of Undying. Foolish tells Eret about the Eggpire’s attack. They wonder if they could get Techno on their side.
- Foolish also fills Eret in on Fundy’s social experiment and Puffy pressing the button to explode the Community House.
- Eret shows Foolish the Nether Hub’s staircase
- First business to clear off is Eret’s fortress.
- Eret’s theory is that the Vines may be related to the mortal plane somehow, perhaps to their attempt at resurrecting Wilbur. After the attempt, the Blood Vines started spreading like crazy.
Perhaps they messed with the natural order of things and this is what may have riled up the Egg.
- Foolish says that this is possible if they opened up the plane to the other world, but Wilbur didn’t come back -- maybe something else did. Eret tells Foolish about Ghostbur saying he saw two figures there, then one the second time.
- Eret’s surprised that more hasn’t been done to stop the vines. Foolish tells them that he was a bit naive.
- They start hoeing down the vines at the fortress.
- Foolish tells Eret that he, Ponk and HBomb went down to the Egg Room and that attempting to break the Egg hurt them back.
- Eret says she doesn’t want to hurt those under the influence. Foolish says he doesn’t want to as well. He doesn’t hurt people anymore.
- Eret asks Foolish about that — “anymore.” Foolish doesn’t want to talk about it, but says that since he arrived in this land, he’s killed nobody. (Eret’s killed 83)
“Some I’m not proud about…a lot I’m not proud about.”
- They talk about the Eggheads again.
“We’re not killing people, we’re doing it…for their own good! For their own good. At least that’s how we see it from our perspective.”
- They use the blue soul fire to destroy the remnants.
- Foolish reflects on how — though it was before his time — after L’manburg went down, it seems like everyone has split off.
- Eret replies that before his betrayal, he thought by bringing L’manburg down, everyone would go back to being together, chilling out without division. He tried to get things to go back to normal, but in doing so, he separated people infinitely more…
And now he’s holding on to what’s left.
- Though she’s been gone for a while, it’s surprising how little has changed. No one is really fighting the Egg.
- Eret also brings up the Red Banquet posters. That could be a turning point in the Egg’s influence.
- Foolish wants to attend it, but he’s not sure. There’s a lot they don’t know, and what they need is more knowledge. Eret says they might attend it together.
- Foolish mentions that there seems to be more people against the Egg than for it.
- They clear the Blood Vines off the Hamilton stage.
- Eret is concerned that the Eggpire might retaliate. Next, they clear off Punz’s territory and the area leading to the spider spawner.
- They rescue a dog from the rain in a boat
- Foolish tells Eret that clearing up all this mess reminds him of that time they cleaned up the mess from the Wither Cult a while ago.
- Eret is taken aback. When was this?
- Foolish insists that it was definitely Eret. Does he really not remember?
- There was also that time that they went on an adventure in the mountain to fight off those trolls.
- Eret insists Foolish must be talking about someone else. He’s been the king here for months.
- Foolish tells him he’s been elsewhere, though.
- Eret asks if Foolish has seen his eyes before. Foolish says he knows what Eret’s eyes look like.
- Eret wants to double-check that he’s talking about the right person and takes off his sunglasses. Foolish says the sunglasses are a new look for him, but they’re definitely the person he’s thinking of.
- Eret says there must be something Foolish knows that he doesn’t. Foolish says the Egg must be messing with Eret’s head, and she should get some sleep.
- Foolish says there are other matters he has to attend to, but he’ll see them around. Foolish leaves.
- The rain starts falling and there is a copious amount of thunder.
- Eret has a lot of thinking to do…we’ll see what happens.

Why Tommy is one of THE BEST written characters in existence.
Alright, that’s it
Here I give you my fuckin Take on why Tommy is one of the best written characters out there and can easily compete with best-selling Novels like Percy Jackson and Harry Potter. I’m sick of a trashing that doesn’t even make sense. So buckle up. Here I will tell you why Tommy has one of the best written characters in history of Books and Movies. Remember, I write this all in my perspective and take many examples of other character books as well
Before this all starts, I will also talk about the main characters of some series, since Tommy has the reputation of being a “main” character.
When I look at the books I’ve read, I see a large range of characters and there way of making the story interesting.
Now, to establish a good character, we need key points of motivations, to make them relatable and bla bla blub:
Personality
Part of the story
Their Powers
Flaws
Relationships
Prized Possessions
History/the backstory
The moral and story the character tells
First tho, I want to explain some words I’m going to use here!
Mary Sue/Gary Stu:
Those are characters who are flawless, have missing chunks of personality and mostly one way written. They are easy to achieve when you are trying to make your character look badass.
Examples in some Fandoms are
·      Rey Skywalker (Star Wars Sequels 7-9)
·      Hermione Granger (Harry Potter Movies)
·      Bella Swan (Twilight)
Tree-System:
Imagine a tree. You plant something small and soon you have something giant with many branches, roots and connections. You have the seed you plant and with caring and care you let it grow. Then you have somewhat a sapling. The tree grows with the care and soon you have a tree with many branches.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Personality
Negative:
Tommy’s personality is very brash and out of control = He’s barely containable in fights, going off to do his own risky plans and starting two or so fights. He can’t forgive a person very easily like Eret, who took it a long time to get forgiveness and Techno, as he shot Tubbo at the Festival. He makes decision that also cost his life like the duel because he hates losing
Tommy can be very lazy, giving the thought he wouldn’t have to do the hard work = Shown when he tries to steal the hearts of seas from Eret or potions from Techno, bargain with “drugs” by Puffy and Ponk or gives other people the work he doesn’t want to do like he did with getting cobblestone
Like a child, he often clings to close people and annoys others for attention = His desperate attempts to have company or someone praising him shows, when he tries to get Philza’s approval (or a pat on the back), constantly looking out, if Tubbo’s either okay or where his is,
He doesn’t like to wait or doing things in the long run = He constantly asks when something is finished, when they could go or in his exile, when he was allowed to go back to L’Manburg
He doesn’t show often his cooled down, scared and vulnerable side = He often overshadows his trauma with a facade of jokes and bad hidden hurt he brings out. When he talks about something bad, he’s clearly confused, not really knowing on how to understand it. Also he runs away from things he can’t control a panic attack like visiting the final control room or looking away from the holes in Logstedshire
He runs without head into a battle so often as possible = Only when they had their final showdown for the disc, Tommy was seen preparing in story, thinking it would be his last fight
---
Positive:
But as he has negative traits, his positive shows to many people clearly.
His unwavering loyalty to the closest of people = His loyalty to Tubbo, Wilbur And L’Manburg are, were and always will be a part of him. He stands against anyone who goes against that, even if it means pain in many ways.
Passionate about dear projects of his = You can see Tommy talking about his discs or see an video where he would spent days getting different discs. Those things are very known to be rare things, so for Tommy to possess it gives him somewhat power. L’Manburg was the same passion, even a bit more, as you can see he was ready to give up his most prized disk. The last and in the moment is his hotel
Bravery like no one makes him as one of the dangerous person on peoples hitlist = He stands up for others. He stood up to L’Manburg. He in the end didn’t care that he lost a life. When he sees a foe, he won’t stand down and submit, he will fight against the oppression and tell them that in the face. During the mission to get a visa, he stood against Schlatt, even if they were clearly in the loose of people and disadvantage. Or getting an apology of Sapnap for killing Niki’s fox. Fighting against 5 people with just one ally while the other is a hostage.
His leadership = There are not many people who can take it up, but Tommy is an exception. He can coordinate people with his loud voice and somewhat thought plans. He is charismatic, even if he’s not so good at it like Wilbur, he still can motivate people to fight for themselves or others. He’s seen to lead others into battle and taking in the fighting part a leading role
Unselfish. That’s one of the most arguable things about Tommy`s character = You can´t look at a kid and say he is selfish because he wants to get something dearly back. Especially Tommy, after he gave the things up, he cared about. But if something is happening again, he will lay it down to do the other thing. As seen by the egg, he had a hard time thinking what to do. He, in a long time, didn’t want to be catalyst for something to happen. Not when he in the moment could have stopped it. So doing this act for himself ones, was a good decisions, since they clearly weren’t ready for war
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Part of the Story
Outside of the story:
Let’s all just get something “straight”. What would Dream SMP without Tommyinnit. Now. Don’t get me wrong. All the creators on the SMP are amazing. They are all wonderful and deserve every bit of Attention and fame they get. But just imagine.
We heard from Tubbo, he was the one, who got him into the SMP. Schlatt and Wilbur came because of a “visit”. Quackity was added because TOMMY said he was bored. And from that, we got somewhat of a tree system. As Tommy was invited and drawn into conflict by Sapnap (shoutout to best boy!), he got more people.
He also has the highest viewership and kind of shortest streams, since he is doing college next to Youtube and Streaming. He can’t give up his high viewers since all of those 200.000 (average) – closing 650.000 People (doing something like a big lore stream in prison or the disc final), choose to watch him.
Also a reminder again, Tommy has his storyline as does everyone else. When we saw Tommy and Techno during the partner up arc doing something with the dogs, they saw the start of the red vines arc BUT said they were on the wrong storyline. Tommy was asked by the eggpire writers if he wanted to be a part of the story and he said yes. Why do you think he nearly says nothing about the egg. He leaves it to the writers. Also, it was said by one of Wilbur’s Character descriptions, that Tommy was okay with others doing something with his character, while Techno was more reluctant with his.
Let me say it again, every creator is awesome and individual! Nobody should be compared to others. But with Tommy coming to the Dream SMP, there really was a change in the game.
Remember, that’s because we also have a BT (before Tommy) and AT (after Tommy) Timestamp in the wiki!
Inside of the story:
Now, with Sapnap, Alyssa, Ponk and Tommy in the first ever big conflict its shown the importance. People assume Tommy is one of the conflict bringers, even though he was dragged in it by having something stolen by Sapnap and then forced to fight with him, to get it back.
The Consequences he’s got where having his discs get stolen. This is what Tommy’s biggest character motivation was the first two seasons. Those discs are known on the server and when you think about gifting something to C!Tommy, it would be a disc.
Techno = Disc Wait
Badboyhalo = Disc Pigstep, Chirp
HBomb = Disc Pigstep, Wait
Tubbo = Stal
LazarBeam = Far
Tommy is a openminded boy who longs for funny little adventures and pranks, since he is just a young person. It’s in his nature.
So why, when he does something, are people looking on him?
Because the things he was and is a part of some of the biggest events. And him being so loud and brave and rash lets him stand out. If you look at the old (hah) Revolution of L’Manburg, who can you hear talking the most and the loudest? Tommy and Dream. They were the most outgoing about the war with Sapnap, Tubbo and Wilbur following. Fundy was more quieter (thankfully he has so much more lore now).
Tommy’s character is known to fall or be dragged head first in almost every conflict. He has connections to who? Mostly everybody. So of course he’s connected big parts to the stories.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Powers
Okay. Every “main” character or character with huge importance to the story has some kind of power. Looking at Dream, who is a “demigod” or Ranboo who I don’t even have to talk about. So what about Tommy?
Well. He doesn’t have any. Tommyinnit is one of the people, we get to have as an “human” character
Hannah = nature “Spirit”
Karl Jacobs = Timetraveller
Antfrost, Technoblade, Ranboo, Fundy = Hybrids
Dream = Something something green blob
Awesamdude, Puffy, Philza, Sapnap, Eret, Schlatt = Adding Features (wings, eyes, body parts)
Badboyhalo, Skeppy = completely different species apparently
Tommy has, as we know of the moment, a not confirmed power. The assumptions of the egg are not clear, since we haven’t seen those interact in a while. All we know is, Tommy didn’t get hurt, destroying a part and not feeling anything, while being in contact. That in canon considered.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Flaws
As talked before in personality and also in an assumption, we see the pattern of loyalty and brashness repeating.
Flaws are the most important parts of a character. It shows the struggle of their adventure and learning how to live with it.
Percy Jackson learned loyalty is nothing, if you don’t have someone to project it on.
Harry Potter and Luke Skywalker learned being a hot head didn’t really bring him forward and it’s important to have a plan
Frodo Beutlin learned that it is okay taking care of yourself and what attachment means
Anakin Skywalker learned fear is controllable and it shouldn’t be a remaining part of your life
Tommy learned over the time that his rashness could hurt others, loyalty couldn’t come back to him like he gave it out and he learns even more in the coming future.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Relationships
Tommy’s relationships is a mess of strings. Some are badly knotted and some are very clear.
A characters connections is an important part for the character himself.
Relationships in life are
·      Enemies(-figure)
·      Rivals(-figure)
·      Friends(-figure)
·      Family(-figure)
·      Lover(-figure)
·      Complicated family(-figure)
·      Complicated friend (-figure)
Relationships are a part of everyone’s life. Not with everybody is a good relationship holdable. Either it’s because their hurting each other or another person. People change and that’s a part of life.
Tommy realized, even tho it hurt, that Techno wasn’t good for his mental state and health. It went against everything Tommy ever stood for.
And Tommy and Tubbo’s relationship wasn’t really that broken. It’s normal for friends to fight. Normal for them hit their heads in. Tommy and Tubbo were surrounded with people who were, at the time, a terrible addition to their mental life.
The Dream SMP doesn’t talk it out, hell the talking club was just destroyed because they preferred fists over words. So why do you think everything is going out with a fight, if it’s all they learned.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Priced Possessions
Every character has to something a connection.
Might it be Percy Jackson and his sword
Might it be Harry with his glasses, broomstick and wand
Frodo and his stupid ring
For Tommy we all know it’s his ender chest inside and secret chest. He keeps many belongings in his chests and always has been one for those things. He kept flowers, compasses, Friendship signs and most importantly, his discs.
The care for something of items are important. Might it be a teddy, old photo or jewelry. People get protective over it, because it holds sentimental value to the person.
If you ask me, to let go of my teddy bear, I will show you my middle finger. Probably beat you up too.
You can’t just throw out your memories into a fire or pit of lava. This is just showing you never had a care and everything you had a memory with it before would have been gone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
History/Backstory
We don’t have much here, but still something to work with.
A Hero doesn’t have an easy live. And it’s an said thing that every Hero needs an origin Story.
Tommy, said not really anything about his past.
All we know is that Tommy didn’t have anyone, presumably an Orphan, he knew the sleepy bois already a long time ago and he never learned on how to ride a bike, saying he never really had a family.
Signs that he didn’t even leave half a good life are:
·      his knowledge on stealing and preferring this over working for it
·      Liking to live in weird spaces like carved out holes in sides of hills (his hobbit hole or the basement by Techno) or living in his tent over a hole house
·      His liking of cobblestone and dirt, which are easy gettable blocks
·      Holding his goodies and friends close to him
·      Craving for attention or contact in general
And now for the part with the dream SMP.
We saw how it changed him. We saw his trauma and all the bad things that happened to him.
And that’s why we say his actions came from those past experiences and things. We are NOT excusing them, but showing. Past trauma CHANGES a person. It brings experience and a heavy amount of pain and anger. ESPECIALLY at a young age, you will change due to your experience in life. You will grow worried and anxious. Tommy did that. He grew more anxious, angry, scared and also experienced.
Stop saying trauma doesn’t explain it. Yes. It does. His lashing out came from his past and negative experience. Imagine growing up in a world where this is the norm. War and banishing. As well as death. Tommy has reasons why he is acting and does stuff.
Understand it. You don’t have to forgive him or anything. But understand it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The moral and the story the character tells us
When we see Tommy, we see a boy who went nearly through it all. Mental/Physical Abuse, Abandonment, War, Suicidal thoughts, betrayal, Death, etc…
He doesn’t show forgiveness for his abuser. Still has signs, that he fights with the past abuse, but he tells us a story of learning from past mistakes, that even in the darkest hours, there’s a way out. Things will, can and be ugly and those are dark hours, but in no way should you think that it’s over. Life is more than one way and can always turn into a new direction.
Life takes something old away from you. Life gives you something new. You lose someone, you find someone new. Friends can turn into enemies. Enemies can turn into friends. You can meet the weirdest people. You can meet the most amazing people. You can be alone and in the next second, you’re not. You will often lose, but you also can win if you give everything.
Life can be weird and that’s okay.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Fazit (that’s german)
The thing is, he is very real for many viewers such as myself. He acts like how many teenagers his age reacts.
He doesn’t be “baby”, because he shows the “ugly” sides of trauma. He shows that attachments are good and you shouldn’t forgive your abuser. In no way. He shows that acting out and lashing out are two things that happen, when you have been in wars for many times and nearly just know that.
He has many flaws and mistakes but those make him even more real. He is showing how he is growing.
As a person, friend, (pseudo-)family.
He is real to many of the viewer since he doesn’t have any powers that are existing in our world to solve their problems. He knows that nobody would have helped him and Tubbo against Dream if he didn’t pay others.
Also that you can’t be friends with everyone and that it’s okay that not everybody likes you.
Tommy´s character is the most human and realistic character in a way of how we would react. We are humans who are lashing out and who are having ugly sides.
And also please stop saying that, since I really can relate to Tommy and I don’t want to be feeling like a “bad-written Character”…
And Don’t even get me started on Tommy’s acting dude!
He is one of the best actors and that one livestreams! In from off 200.000 – 600.000 People!
On the face cam alone is so much to see…
·      You can see his face with each emotion shifting,
·      when something funnily weird happens, he looks dead eyes in the camera
The voice acting…
·      His breathing,
·      the stuttering in his voice,
·      THE GODDAMN EMOTIONS IN HIS FACE
HIS MUSIC CHOICE!
·      He changes the music fitting for the situations as in fighting scenes or funny moments.
·      He also has some funny bits with his music.
·      Like a goddam DJ!
The ingame character
·      His movements and head stares
·      The jumping around when he gets overactive
·      Long stops when he thinks or is sad!
You can see, I am a person from Tumblr and saw way too much bullshit around tommys character.
Stop critiquing him so badly.
You could say, I woke up and chose violence
So... MCC Pride was lit as all hell!
Ended up watching Pink Parrots because of curiosity over a Grian/Jimmy and Techno/Wilbur team dynamic, and how that’d play out.
Ended up watching something simultaneously:
Wholesome
Hilarious
With great chemistry that started a little awkward but grew to be amazing very quickly. Could really tell these guys all respect each other a lot, and it was an amazing experience for that.
Full of tension and unexpected turns.
The saga of Wilbur’s fire alarm was harrowing :P
Hadn’t realized Wilbur’s skin was partially inspired by Grian’s, but I can absolutely see it now.
First ever (sort of) 5 player MCC team. Phil was a champ for stepping in when Wilbur had difficulties. I need to see the 5-man fanart. :D
MCC 20v20 Megabolt was so, so chaotic - and Burren was an absolutely beast in it - and I will be sorely disappointed if it doesn’t come up again, even if its only in specials and themed MCCs.
They lost out of Dodgebolt by 2 coins. You can’t buy that kind of dramatic tension, especially after they’d been doing so well!
Someone else on here’s pointed out that they got 3rd after mentioning CaptainSparklez as a potential sub for Wilbur. The curse is getting stronger...
And the way they initially threw all their support behind Orange - even the members of Pink who aren’t directly friends with any of Orange - for surpassing them.
Techno rallying his fans to hit the 200k reward was brilliant and its pretty clear they’d have hit the goal even if YouTube Gaming hadn’t dropped their donation when they did.
His underside spleef in Battle Box was fantastic.
In other teams, Squaishy did really well in Dodgebolt considering it was their first MCC.
Apparently Phil has screenshots of the Yellows/OX all hiding in a van together in Survival Games, and I need to see them.
There’s probably so many other great moments from this MCC that i’m forgetting as well - both in general and from the various conversations Pink had - but it was all brilliant all the same, and i’m looking forward to Noxcrew’s highlight reels and re-watching perspectives to get all that I didn’t catch or need a refresher on. You might be seeing more MCC posts from me over the next couple days. :P
Definitely my new favorite MCC. :D
The Virgin Grian, Technoblade, WilburSoot and SolidarityGaming, or the Chad Sir Dreamslayer, Tech, Wilburn and Mr. Gaming? :P
Most important is the 300k raised for the Trevor Project, though. Absolutely worth it, and hoping this community can make a repeat showing next year.
Massive Dream SMP Fic Rec!!
Hey- Hi, I just feel like there are a ton of fanfiction that's really underrated in this fandom- so I'm going to dump it on your dash!!! Most of it is going to be Tommy-centric or SBI-centric, but they are very good!
Source: Me
Finished Fanfics:
Multi-chaptered Fanfics:
that's, like, a hundred miles by No_one_you_know
Dream would kill him. Dream was going to kill him- he was going to- no, he wouldn’t. Dream was his friend- friends don’t hit each other- Dream was supposed to take care of him- Dream /was/ taking care of him.
It hurt to breathe. It hurt to think. He couldn’t clear his thoughts as he stumbled to the family computer, pulling up a tab on google and frantically typing the name into the search bar.
The words Technoblade Watson stared back at him, the little black bar at the end of the letters blinking slowly, mocking him.
Why, of all people, did it have to be Technoblade?
in short: the one where dream sucks as a parental figure, tommy runs away, and visits his least favorite family member technoblade
Hard-hitting, but has a happy ending, though I recommend reading the prequel (in the same series) first, otherwise, it's lowkey depressing.
MORE RECOMMENDATIONS BELOW THE CUT!!
you’ll rise above (crowned by an overture bold and beyond) by azvremoon
Tommy is not sixteen. He has faced too many open wounds, dripping ichor onto blood-stained warzones, to be just a child. He is Blood and War and needless Death, an all-in-one special of everything that can ruin reality.
(Tommy is the blood god. No one should know, but this server can't stop pushing him over the edge.)
+2 more Works that were Inspired by this one
Tommy is a BAMF and Dream, Technblade, and Phil get fucked it is what it is.
Responsible Forever by SilverWing15
“You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.” /////
“So,” Techoblade says, slow and deliberate, his face shows clearly just how unbelievable he finds all of this, “you saw a boy last night, in the middle of the night, living with raccoons and eating our garbage?”
“I know how insane it sounds,” Phil says, “but I know what I saw. We need to help him, who knows how long he’s been out here?”
“Okay,” Wilbur interrupts, “let’s say that raccoon-boy is real. What is it you want us to do? We can’t go searching the woods for specific bunch of raccoons, I don’t know if you’ve noticed Phil but there are a lot of them out there.”
“Going out and hunting him isn’t going to get us anywhere,” Techno says, “we have to let the raccoon-boy come to us. He’s already come once, you know how tenacious raccoons are. If they came to the garbage pit once, they’ll come again. We just have to set a trap.”
“Those raccoons aren’t gonna know what fucking hit them,” Wilbur mutters.
Or: RaccoonInnit taken well beyond its logical conclusion
Tommyinnit is a Raccoon boi that lives with other Raccoons
Protecting the Traumatised Youth by spookyserpent
Sam blinks. “What?”
Even behind the mask, Sam has the distinct impression that Dream is grinning at him. “A week and he was begging for my attention, even after I stole and burnt his armour, even after the beatings. He couldn’t stand me leaving him because I was the only one to show up, to pay him attention. It was hilarious.”
Sam is going to be sick.
Or, Sam decides to ask Dream about his intentions and ends up becoming a big brother to Tommy and Tubbo. All the while, Dream and George fight, Niki and Jack plan child murder and Ranboo is slowly getting adopted into the SBI.
Absolutely Anything For Them by Numanum
“There’s a lot you don’t understand, Tubbo,” Dream sighs, meeting his eyes cooly. Tubbo, back against a tree, shudders at his tone, at the look on his face.
The sword at his neck skims across his skin as Dream shifts his grip on it, and he flinches back into the rough bark behind him. Dream smiles at his reaction, seeming pleased- like the cat that’s been toying with a mouse that always tries to run no matter how many times it’s caught. And, despite this being his first encounter alone with the man, he thinks that the comparison is fairly accurate; Tubbo has never felt smaller than he does now. There’s supposed to be a buddy system to prevent things like this- he shouldn’t be alone here, stuck in this situation.
Or: Tubbo becomes a traitor to save everyone and has to struggle with his choices
Traitor Tubbo, but it has the happiest ending possible since it follows the rest of the story.
Where Did You Come From, Kit? by KadeAK (zacixn)
Hybrids are an ancient species of humans crossed with animals, blessed with the favour of nature. They used to live in peace on the SMP’s land, but ever since the dawn of humanity’s modern culture, they have become ostracised and hunted by their once-brethren. Now, the once-thriving subspecies of hybrids have been reduced to ashes, the majority of their peoples struggling to survive in a city capital that can't stand their presence.
To the members of L’Manburg, General Wilbur Soot is just another mildly prejudiced human being, stuck with a hybrid fox kit for an adopted child. However, that assumption could not be farther from the truth. As it turns out, there's a reason why he is the man he is today.
This fic is entirely pre-L’Manburg.
Part of a series, very good.
Five times Techno scared Michael, one time Michael scared him, and the resolution of those fears.
I suppose it’s never my time to die, is it? by Birb_Whale
The first time it happens, he barely remembers. The second time is when he realized. The third... Twice is a coincidence, three times is a pattern
“It’s not your time to die yet, Tommy”
Messed up, but not unrealistic. Purely for the Hurt/Comfort lovers.
Dream isn't sure what to think when he finds a kid on his doorstep, but he can't just leave him there, now can he?
(He doesn't know what he's getting into, or what he's gotten the kid into, either)
Long, and angsty, with a bittersweet ending Imo.
let's play a game by Aria_Cinabun
Tommy was once a slave. That's gone now - shoved in his past with the memories of blood and gore and death. He wants to forget who he was; what he has to do to survive. Of course, the Elementalists will always come back to haunt him. They aren't the ones who killed his mother, but they're close enough. And now he and his brother have been dragged into the mess, as Elementalists with their own, separate covens, to find the Pit - the place where he'd lived and killed and hurt for the first twelve years of his life. His coven can't know. Can't know who he really is, what he can really do. Can't know anything about his past. He doesn't want a coven full of Elementalists who don't trust him; one of whom he's pretty sure despises him. He doesn't want that life. He wants the life of a pickpocket, on the streets, because nobody questions street kids, and nobody comes asking about his past and pushes him to tell his secrets that he holds closest inside. Tubbo tries to tell him to trust people. But trust is how you die.
Good fantasy AU, has SBI, and is thus fluffy.
Turn of the Tide by SilverWing15
Tommy’s fins twitch at the mention of Dream’s ancestors. Dream talks about them a lot, how they made their fortune hunting down mer pods, how they were cruel and greedy. Nothing like Dream is. They’ve both overcome their roots he says.
Tommy is nothing like the wild mer out in the ocean, who spend their lives scraping by just to survive, who kicked him out of the pod when he was a baby because he was too small. He’s also better than the pit mer, who can’t overcome their wild instincts and know nothing but fighting.
He’s different from them, he’s better than them. He’s Dream’s. //// OR: Change is like the tide, when it comes, you can only sink or swim. You would think that a mer would be better at keeping afloat.
Mermaid AU Pooog. Part of a series.
Snapped by AmberRunnel
“You don’t know what I went through in that prison cell.”
Jack burst out laughing, blinded with rage and the overwhelming urge to hurt Tommy, to give him everything he deserved. “Oh, is the poor child traumatized? You want pity now?” He twisted his blade, and Tommy’s axe was sent clattering to the ground.
“If the prison was so awful, why don’t I send you back there?”
-|-
Jack doesn't handle Tommy's revival well. There's a simple solution, though. Kill Tommy, and Dream revives him right back into that cell. Problem solved, kid dealt with.
It takes a few confrontations for Jack to realize he's an asshole.
It's fucked up, but god does it hurt in a good way.
An imagining of New Milo's perspective throughout the Skyblock Randomizer adventure. What did he think of the world he found himself in, and how did Wilbur's feelings and actions change things for him? Here's my way of answering those questions.
He made the fish think, funniest shit I've seen.
You told me to be a hero (so let me die like one) by spiromachia
"You told me to die like a hero," the blond interrupted, spinning on his heel to face the others, holding his arms wide open, "So why not fulfil the ending that was always meant to be."
Across the battle field, through the chaos and destruction, a tree burned.
Even the sound of explosions and cries and bloodshed felt distant enough for the world to become silent for a few moments, each individual slowly coming to the same conclusion, each of their bodies tensing.
Tommy's face broke out into a grin as he lowered his head, glowering at the people around him, and Philza's face flashed with recognition.
"Kill me."
Or... In the middle of Doomsday, Tommy decides to ask Technoblade to be the Lycomedes to his Theseus.
‘A realisation hits Phil in the face like a truck. “Wi- Ghostbur,” Phil says, turning to his grey-scale, translucent, actually-dead son. “You definitely told Tubbo that Tommy’s alive, right?”’
To get away from Dream, Tommy agrees to fake his death, going with the cover story that he jumped from the pillar in Logstedshire. Unfortunately, someone forgot to tell Tubbo.
Misunderstandings are one of my favorite tropes.
“He is my son,” Philza says. “Mortal or not, I would see him grow strong.”
Technoblade looks down on earth, at the tiny, angry bundle of cloth and pinking, wrinkled skin. This mortal child, he thinks, lungs filled with breath from the king of gods himself, will not grow strong.
It's mostly centered around Technoblade and Wilbur with Phil being a shitty dad. Pog Gods AU.
That Time a Baby Decided to Raise a Baby by Scitrust
Wilbur has a body.
The freckle on the base of his left pinky finger (shared with Techno). The scar on his chin from when he was twelve and over ambitious, diving into too-shallow water. The scar on his throat from the final control room, and the puckered skin on his shoulder from the poisoned arrow that killed him next. Various other nicks and things that litter his skin from years of rebellion and living wild, a kid thrown into a vicious world with too little self-preservation.
(Resurrection AU, for when/if Wilbur comes back.)
The author knows how it's like to live with chronic pain, and it shows :(
Hands tied loose by rabiddog
"Let's run away, Tubbo." Tommy breathed; a wide grin split across his face as his hope grew. "Let's get out of here – far away. We can go anywhere, can't we? Let's just go, you and me right here, right now."
-
Tommy needs to leave. He has to get out of L'Manburg, he has to leave the Dream SMP for his own sanity, and he wants Tubbo to come with him.
But Tubbo has a family now, a better life - something that he can't give up... not even for his best friend.
Unhappy ending :(
The serpent underneath by rabiddog
Tommy and Techno sit at the memory-filled bench and talk. Technoblade reminisces, he talks, he admits his pent-up feelings, he cries. And Tommy? Tommy listens. (That's all he can do.)
-
“I’m sorry for everything, you know? For all of it. I’m so sorry about... about the first war, about the withers and the fighting, about...” Technoblade's fingers began to curl around Tommy’s blonde locks. “About Wilbur and everything after. I'm so, so sorry.”
Damning choices by rabiddog
Ranboo would have never expected to find himself in a horrifying situation such as that one - quite literally sandwiched between a rock and a hard place, with three lives dangling over his head and the answer on the tip of his tongue.
Tubbo, Michael, Tommy.
It's his choice. He chooses who lives, and who dies. His new family, or his first friend. But Ranboo... Ranboo already knows.
-
"Ranboo," He hissed out, voice cracking and somewhat staticky, "It's not your fault. It's not. You had no other choice; I know that, okay? I- I know that- I know- I know..."
Jealousy is a disease by rabiddog
Tommyinnit isn't new to the idea of jealousy. He understands it completely. He understands the way it runs rampage through his body each time he catches even a glimpse of Tubbo and Ranboo's new relationship, he understands that the emotion makes his heart clench uncomfortably from time to time. He sees it, feels it, and yet he doesn't care.
He doesn't care at all.
-
"You took Tubbo away from me. You took him away. You took my best friend, and now he's- now he's not my best friend anymore, and I-!"
:)
Word of Honour by rabiddog
Tommy could only stand and stare as Technoblade agreed to hand him over to Dream - as his brother traded him off like he was nothing. Like Tommy wasn't important.
-
Technoblade was a man of honour. He was a man of pride and sticking to his word. He knew that he owed Dream a favour, and no matter what that favour might be, he'd be compliant with it. Nothing would change his mind. (Not even Tommy.)
Almost canon. F.
Sweet Repentance by rabiddog
Perhaps Tommy should have told Phil about his arguably life-threatening injury the minute his father had opened the door. But of course, Tommy being Tommy, did not.
Dying seemed like a nice enough option as long as he was with his family.
Tommy just wanted acceptance, forgiveness, and peace. He wanted to close his eyes for the last time and finally be able to let go.
A White Tulip by astervoid
He picked the white tulip from the bottom of the stem, standing up carefully as he held it pinched between his fingers. It would die now, inevitably, but Tommy relented and held the flower to his chest. What a silly, stupid thing to ground him. He almost hated that it made his breaths come easier and his steps feel lighter. Almost.
Dear Theseus by rabiddog
Tommy had thought that they'd won - thought that they'd finally beaten Dream, and that everything would be okay. As it turns out, however, apparently Dream had called in that favour from Technoblade after all.
-
“Please,” Tommy whispered after a beat, quivering hands edged upwards to hesitantly press against the tip of the sword striking through his chest. Why, why, why? Why him? Why now?
Tommy almost wins.
A Shifting World by AplusIsRoman
How was Wilbur supposed to know it would end like this?
The smoke hung in the air and soot clung to his skin. His brother - adopted, but older by two minutes - stood back-to-back with him. The chilling cries of people and the calls of the withers rang through the air above the chasm that was once his home.
This wasn’t supposed to happen.
How could he have known this would happen?
Tommy has always been the fighter.
He has never been the fought for, and he knows it, with every whisper Tubbo directs at Ranboo, with every glance thrown his way- Tommy knows, the way he wishes he didn't, that they think he's dead.
If they're so convinced he's still dead, maybe the one good thing left he can do for them is die.
Or, Tommy gets addicted to being dead and thinks that nobody cares about him. The people who very much do try to pull him back from the brink before Dream can't resurrect him anymore.
Messed up, but with a happy ending.
Hugs 'n PTSD by rabiddog
Ranboo knew from the start that the recovery process would be hard - that moving on from quite literally being beat to death would be something hugely difficult to step away from, and that's if Tommy could even manage it at all.
He knew that it would be stressful and arduous, demanding and tough... he just hadn't expected to be holding Tommy through a PTSD-induced panic attack only days after his release from Pandora's Vault.
-
Ranboo isn't typically an overbearingly protective person. But for Tommy? He just might be.
I love this author if you can't tell.
Big Men don't cry by Shiny22Snivy
The room is small and warm, almost stifling compared to the cool openness of the ravine. It’s cosy and candlelit, and a chest sits open in the corner, full of what looks to be burnt rags of a former smart suit. And sitting in rumpled blankets on a bed, cradling a mug of something steaming, sits Tubbo.
At first, Tommy forgets all about Niki’s vague warning. He’s just so happy to see his best friend again, alive and well and all in one piece. Tubbo’s okay. Tubbo’s okay, and in front of him, and suddenly everything bad in the world is gone, if only for just a moment.
“Tommy?”
And then Tubbo turns to look at him.
Clingyduo fluff.
sins of the father (i broke all my bones that day i found you) by ryter
The thing that hurt Wilbur most was when he saw Fundy tear down the walls of L'Manburg. After all, those walls had gone up to protect his son. But in this world, Fundy trusts his father just a little bit more, and it ruins him.
I feel like we should name him.
There’s a scuffle at the back of his mind as he rolls up, curling tight with a shiver despite the heat of the flames licking up his back.
I mean, he’s like – us, but like a worse version clearly because oh man, this is just weirdness. There’s a flare of a tangle of emotions, complicated and fearful, resentful and livid with anger. I can’t believe this is what I’ve been reduced to, stuck in the mind of this- this child.
