This is one of those things that is both actually frustrating and just sort of stupid, but my parents are very very bad at like. visiting. In multiple senses of the phrase but right now I mean mostly just actually coming to visit.

So like my sister has lived in the same city for a decade, owns a home, etc., and my parents visit exactly once a year, and I have lived in the same city for over two years and they have visited once (for 3 days). Which is all kind of frustrating and hurtful because we are pretty close (if dysfunctional) and I’d like to share my life with them—but also at this point, just kind of a background frustration that we’re used to.

EXCEPT then they sometimes try to make up excuses for not coming and it’s all just…absolute bullshit lies. Very very bad lying. Like “oh we wanted to come visit sometime but our schedules…” ma’am you are retired. “Oh we thought about coming to see you in the Nutcracker but we’ll have your sister’s dog…” you are both adults who could handle a dog on your own AND you literally just decided to dog sit like this week while knowing FOR MONTHS that I would be performing and never asking a single question about when it was or tickets or anything.

Begging swifties to understand that Taylor didn’t write reputation and Lover with the knowledge of how the relationship was going to end and that trying to “excavate” those albums for evidence to prove a specific theory as to why it ended is not how they should be viewed. Taylor wrote those songs feeling a very specific way because that’s what she was experiencing and she is now reflecting on them with hindsight and relates to them differently than when she first created them. These conflicting emotions can exist; how she views it now doesn’t diminish how she felt about it when she first released it.

There’s something horrifyingly beautiful about Tess’s final moments. In the midst of the most dire chaos, as she waits for her death to come rushing past so she can blow it sky high and give cordyceps a big fuck you one last time, one of the infected stops. It looks at her, really looks. Her own mortality is personified in this infected. It’s death that’s looking at her, and it sees her. She looks her own death in the eye, and the suspense is so high as it approaches. But then, it doesn’t bite her throat out like we all expect it to.

It kisses her. What’s more, it kisses her gently. And I think it was a brilliant choice on the writers part, because it reminded me that the infected aren’t supposed to be evil. Sure, they’re scary as hell, but really, they’re just trying to survive. They’re connected to one another, they can feel each other from miles away. They seek out and want to be close to their own kind, just like the human survivors do. And when they do find each other, they kiss hello.

And after so long apart from a loved one, someone you know and trust with every instinct in your body, wouldn’t you want to kiss them too?

ngl i get that people hype up hating writing for the bit but like. idk. yall i Do actually really like writing. it is so satisfying and fun and rewarding and i get to look back what i made over and over again and get joy every single time.

yes writing is hard but if you hate it more than you love it im kinda like. idk. find another hobby?
