There’s something horrifyingly beautiful about Tess’s final moments. In the midst of the most dire chaos, as she waits for her death to come rushing past so she can blow it sky high and give cordyceps a big fuck you one last time, one of the infected stops. It looks at her, really looks. Her own mortality is personified in this infected. It’s death that’s looking at her, and it sees her. She looks her own death in the eye, and the suspense is so high as it approaches. But then, it doesn’t bite her throat out like we all expect it to.

It kisses her. What’s more, it kisses her gently. And I think it was a brilliant choice on the writers part, because it reminded me that the infected aren’t supposed to be evil. Sure, they’re scary as hell, but really, they’re just trying to survive. They’re connected to one another, they can feel each other from miles away. They seek out and want to be close to their own kind, just like the human survivors do. And when they do find each other, they kiss hello.

And after so long apart from a loved one, someone you know and trust with every instinct in your body, wouldn’t you want to kiss them too?

conspicuous lack of the HOUSE of usher in mike flanagan's "the fall of the house of usher"

#like yeah theres an usher house that crumbles but it doesnt function well as a symbol of the family #because we dont see the house degrade/crumble in time with the family nor is it even a house they're tied to or inhabit beyond it being #'where it all started' and such #like i know flanagan's 'haunting of hill house' already did 'the house is alive' so i get it but more of that element wouldve really helped #have a house fire that kills one of them and that burned out area symbolizes some of the decay #windows being broken from one of them jumping #maybe run off from the chemicals starting to poison the land and kill the plants around it #if nothing else have all or most of them at least live in or have grown up in the house.#something.#not star trek #tfothou #doctor's log

some thoughts:

i understand why people just dont really like endgame

either they hate marvel

or they hate the ending of it in some way

but to the people angry about nat not getting a funeral with tony

well neither did vision

or any of the other people who died in those battles

because it wasnt about that

it was about saying goodbye to an era

the era that was build on the back of tony stark

thats why i find it so emotional

because youre not just saying goodbye to tony, who is an amazing character with so much growth, youre saying goodbye to the ten years we had and 20+ movies that we loved, even if begrudgedly.

i dont remember watching iron man the first time, but i do remember the feelings i get from watching it and for that it remains my favorite marvel movie and even one of my favorite movies in general

thats what we're saying goodbye to, the memories. whether you watched it when you were at home, or in the theatre, or on an airplane or something. youre saying goodbye to that decade, to how those movies affected you and the world!!

you guys forget that media is for the benefit of the audience - and this audience started in 2008 when tony stark looked at the camera and said

"i am iron man"
