Hide Tumblr Live
Tumblr media
It looks like tumblr live was recently released outside the US so for anyone who doesn't want to deal with "snoozing" it every 7 days, you can permanently hide it from your dashboard with the Xkit Rewritten browser extension!
If you're not already using it, I highly suggest adding this as it makes the tumblr experience infinitely better and more customizable.
Mobile users I'm sorry, I've had updates turned off forever and never got the live update so you may still have to snooze it if live shows up there too. My condolences.

The Shinigami Eyes extension is actually funny because, while the stuff that's marked often makes sense, sometimes you'll be browsing a random Wikipedia article and see someone highlighted in red, and you'll be like "Oh no, who could it b-"
Tumblr media
Like, thank you Shinigami Eyes. How else in this great-big world was I ever supposed to know that Adolf Hitler was not a trans ally?!?!?! Mind-blowing revelations in the studio, today.

finally got my new computer and made the move to firefox. there's only 4 things i liked more with opera gx so far and those are: 1) getting to have a wallpaper for a new tab 2) getting to see if any of the people i follow on twitch are live by just glancing to the sidebar (this one's not too bad but i did catch a lot of streams this way since twitch hates giving me notifs) 3) i could close all my tabs but the browser wouldn't close because of the gx corner and, 4) the gx corner. i like free games. a lot but hey if anyone's got good recommendations for ways i can replace these functions through extensions or whatever i'll gladly take em. im glad to not be using a chromium based browser anymore and really really don't wanna switch back

Not usually the kind of thing I post, but!
I found a browser extension called postlight reader that helps remove ads and random distracting stuff from most websites. (It also helps get past paywalls on a lot of news sites). In my experience, it's very helpful if you have ADHD because I have ADHD and that's my experience. And obviously distractions are especially distracting if you have the distractions are eating your brain disorder. But obviously distractions and paywalls are pretty unilaterally annoying so. Here's a link in case it's helpful to anyone idk.

Tumblr Savior v1.15.0 Released
I have updated Tumblr Savior to work with the new dashboard layout. Luckily the old version continued to work for the most part, it was primarily the features related to the sidebar that were broken.
I took the opportunity to update the redirect feature to work on href.li instead of t.umblr.com as they've migrated completely to the new domain. I also updated the code for the sidebar features to more accurately hide the radar & recommended blogs. There were a few places where some sidebar features were being inadvertently hidden.
On a related note, I've signed up for tips on tumblr. If you'd like to show some appreciation for the work I've done on Tumblr Savior, hit that tip button!
As always you can get Tumblr Savior for Firefox, Edge, Opera, and Chrome at tumblr-savior.bjornstar.com

XKit Rewritten
My Tumblr browsing experience just got 100% better since I installed this browser extension. I've said "goodbye" to the Tumblr Live carousel! And Tumbr Radar! And several other annoying features of the web interface.
Please note that the XKit-Rewritten extension is in beta. I'm testing it on Firefox. Your mileage may vary.

Youtube search fixer. Make youtube search suck less. I reblogged this at some point, but I must not have tagged it well because I can never find it when I'm searching. So I'm just making my own post now with a ton of tags. It has some additional stuff too, like taking out the shorts section.

As a heads up, please put this in your rotation of useful browser extensions. You'll need to turn the option on in the settings, but it will automatically save every website page you visit. And if it's not available, you can search to see if there is an archived version already. There's been a shocking amount of older pages I've visited that I'm surprised to see I'm the first archive of it, and it's just useful. So please, add it to your browser today. (And it is on non firefox browsers too)

Tumblr isn’t what it used to be. If the pre-Dec 2018 userbase were here, we’d already have a browser extension to batch block every Tumblr Live user.

Neopets Wont Do It So I Made My Own Inventory Link
Tumblr media
Yeah so I replaced the search bar tool in my header with an inventory link (since I literally never use that feature) and swapped in the chest icon from my theme.
If you want to do it yourself, I wrote out what to do in a little pdf so you can follow along and set it up yourself. If someone else wants to make their own way of doing this, by all means, but I just used some javascript and css and some browser extensions.
Instructions Link (pdf in google rive):
Currently I only have this setup in Firefox, but if you can find a browser extension for running CSS and Javascript on a different browser, then the process and code should be the same, just with those extensions!
