Just remembered those creepy combination chant/scalp massage things that you'd do as a kid but it was always the girls who like proto-goth who would know how to do them, like the whole "egg on your head and the yolk trickle down" thing where at the end they'd push you and apparently whatever color you saw indicated how you'd die?? Does anyone else remember this or was it just a very specific trend within a group of creepy little girls at my school

problem:

i assigned blood meridian as an optional book report option for my seniors. they're old enough to handle that novel, and it was for a college course as-is, but even still i gave them ample warning about what's addressed in the book. a surprising number of them took the option, and really enjoyed it!

some of those seniors' junior friends heard about the book, and one started reading it. they're a mature young adult, but even then---ample warning, and then some.

that junior has a sophomore friend who is, and i quote, "going through a wild west phase." so this sophomore is now reading blood meridian and uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

if this passes down to the freshmen, i'm fucked

💸- If you had a billion dollars and could only spend it, what would you buy first? -Already answered- BUT There's also a good chance I'd just be generic and go for affordable living space for myself. I don't have a need for mansions or anything. 'Just a single house big enough for myself, with some land/garden space around and no directly attached neighbours to the building' Which is quite a luxurious thing as it is, imo.

🐋- share a Weird/funny story? Oh man, these are always the hardest for me. Simply because I can never think of any when being asked these sort of things. My mind literally blanks on them, because nothing gets either label for me hahaha. I guess what always strikes me as any funny situation/story/anything is how much @piltover-sharpshooter and myself think/act alike. Like, to a T. Almost every time we chat we have the whole Spiderman/men-pointing-at-each-other-meme situations.

I'm getting too inured to seeing five and Tegan hugging as my phone background even though it's one of the most joyous things I've ever seen. I've got to make it worse. I'm gonna read the Earthshock novelisation on the bus to work today.

How'd the Vessel get to be Like That™? Did the original Warren die? Did Duffy have a crush on the original Warren? Did he tell Warren before the Vessel happened?

1) no! the original "warren" (again, fake name) is the body the vessel is currently inhabiting. you could say warren is "dead" but he's really just floating around subconsciously in there

2) yes! warren helped duffy transition and showed him the ropes to being an outlaw; they got in a lot of trouble together (and in a lot of jail cells, too)

3) no! circumstances forced them apart and the current story takes place about three years after warren and duffy's last meeting :^( so duffy would've been really happy seeing him, not yet knowing that that isn't his friend anymore

as for how the vessel got like that in the first place...im still ironing out the finer details, but so far what ive got is:

warren robbed a stagecoach that (he did not know) was transporting the vessel, which is an eldritch being trapped within an inanimate object. it's placed within objects (such as vases, jars, and books, to name some of its previous vessels) and moved constantly through different objects so that it doesn't get comfortable in its skin. it's also contained within non living things so that it doesn't gain sentience again.

that is, until the cult put it within a hat, which was to be transported to the next domain, where it would be transferred into yet another thing.

until warren robbed the stagecoach and took his own hat off in exchange for a new one.

the vessel pretty much took over from there
