Geography:
Birkina is based on the Egypt coast physical geography*. Rains are light when they do reach the island, but magical storms are angry things; Birkina has casters in every city to protect themselves against these storms. There isn't much seasonal changes here, staying hot and clear year round, although their winter does have intensely cold nights. Some animals seem to prefer this as they migrate here in the winter months, away from Solistal's constant cold.
*but only when I feel like it lol
Architecture:
Birkina's most famous natural phenomenon are it's Rainbow Bay, an almost constant rainbow connecting the far ends of the bay, and the largest known reef system in their waters, the Great (Barrier) Reef. There are also some sunken buildings along the coast, in a different style to GK's underwater buildings. Scholars love to visit the towns closest to them. The most memorable man-made wonder is the Dudrana Lighthouse, which connects them to the mainland. It is magically enhanced to function and assist sailors in storms as well. Much of the buildings designs come from Arabian/Egyptian architecture and are built around the few rivers and/or oasis' on the island. With fewer areas to settle, the cities tend towards bigger more clustered layouts as many more people stick to the river ways.
Trade/Commerce:
Kamikita holds Birkina's access to the mainland, and has a choke hold on trading overall, so Birkina has trouble with getting access to certain things. This also means Birkina depends on Kamikita for a lot of their livelihoods. They export lots of dyes, spices, and herbs. There are also lots of fruits, different to Kamikita's, that they'd be willing to trade if they weren't restricted. As it is, dyes and spices are asked for Klenith-wide so those are the most farmed and exported goods that Birkina has. Currency is often used for mainland trading, whereas it is goods bartering within Birkina.

Geography:
Great Kettering is based on the UK islands physical geography*. Great Kettering has slight weather changes with the seasons, primarily an increase in humidity and less rainfall in the summer months. Mostly known to be cold and wet overall. Tsunamis can happen along the coast to the south, and south-east. Earthquakes are small distant shakes from the far west. Droughts are rare and only in very dire situations. Lots of coastal towns are on the coast cliffs rather than the coast, and therefore are generally safe from the usual tsunamis that occur. Boat living... isn't uncommon yet dangerous depending on the time of year (hence the phrase, sturdy like GK's fishers). Earthquakes aren't an issue just noticeable along the west border. Great winters are prepared for a lot like Solistal does.
*but only when I feel like it lol
Architecture:
GK is a mix of my personal headcanons for orcs and fantasy England. The most common form of landmark is the stone/moss circles, each with their own pattern, like a fingerprint. Generally, only those born in the area will be familiar with these landmarks without a map. Because of this, the moss circles are speculated to be linked to the orc-ish Aeons religion. Kelp forests are a special sight along GK coasts. The most well known location in GK is the sunken castle, and its bridges to nowhere. One explanation is that the coastal cliff was washed away and the castle was too heavy so it fell into the ocean to be forgotten, another blames the mythological 'Thorns' for putting it their during one of their tantrums. For a foreigner, the knight tourneys are a highly anticipated event due to the invitation of both the highest king and lowest servant. Most towns start with a safe drinking water source in the middle, market and community buildings around that, then common dwellings around those. For Kettering, the capital, there are 'districts' that citizens must get permits to build inside. These districts help with deliveries, city planning, guard patrols, and lock down procedures. Again, most towns are situated along the south coast, and it's either the direct coast or, if the cliffs are too severe, then it'll be as high on a hill they can get while still in viewing distance of the sea. On the north side of Great Kettering, it still follows the idea of the highest hills. Including Kettering, which itself has a 'natural moat' around it, although the city surrounding the castle has since expanded further around the lake as well. In smaller towns, people are clumped together, tiny and people live in each others pockets, whereas bigger towns are more spacious. That said, construction is trending towards taller rather than wider. Common structures are in the easy to acquire and transport materials, where the elegant marbles and quartz are left for Kettering or other religious sites in other large towns.
Trade/Commerce:
GK trade away seafood for different 'exotic' foods and their artisans are highly sorted after. They import from Solistal for specialty materials to craft with. Kamikita holds a chokehold on trading routes and this frustrates GK. They import from Birkina for island herbs and spices, as well as dyes for their crafts. Can be self-sufficient if trades were to be suddenly cut. The world trade is currency based but smaller store keepers accept barters... if you can talk them into it. Solistal's ores/minerals and their jewelcrafters are flaunted as expensive goods and a highly requested import. Whereas 'seals' or magical coins are the least sought after. GK's embroiders are the most asked for export.

Kamikita; Land of Patience and Glory
south west corner of the continent, primarily human citizens
Tumblr media
Costume from Dracula Untold.
Games:
Stemming from their religion, aeon coin games are popular throughout Kamikita. The richer people will use magical seals in place of playing coins, and collecting seals/coins from different people and places is a place of pride for the more adamant players. Soldiers enjoy GK's knight tourneys, specifically their dragon taming and elemental fights.
Clothes:
Humans use silks and cotton a lot more than other materials in their clothes, any furs are saved for large seasonal cloaks, and leather is used in light armour more than average clothing. Kamikita and GK have a lot of style similarities, bright colours and fun patterns, the important distinction is that floral patterns are reserved for royals in Kamikita. But with Birkina and Solistal, humans are easy to find in the crowd. The common patterns in lower class humans are dragons and suns. Formalwear is a kimono and far more plain, still light and colourful, but one solid colour with a solid obi belt. High class often make up for this by bringing delicate sun umbrellas.
Food:
The major foods in Kamikita are wheat products, fruits, and their cattle meat. Because they have such a stable and mass produced agriculture, their hunting, trapping and fishing areas are less practiced, many in the profession coming from other areas in Klenith.
Animals/Plants:
Because this is fantasy Japan, the usual flora/fauna are going to mimic real life. so here I will talk about the fantasy creatures and how they interact with stuff and things :) Due to the coastal conditions here, there are no harpies, hydra or sea serpents, and the travel between Kamikita and Birkina keep the waters a well-traveled and safe area. There are mermaids but many keep their distance and the few that do approach the surface are looking to trade for the fruits of Kamikita's shores. Kamikita is also the only nation to house unicorns, and while pegasus do visit no wild ones are here. The fae and dryads have a huge population in the forests here, whatever their preferences may be, they seem to find it in this nation. Despite the natural flourishing here, treants are scarce. Perhaps they fear the more obvious sightings of dragons here. Outside of the fantastical, cats are hugely popular in the cities. They are lap warmers and aren't owned by any one person, but cared for by their cities as a whole. Dogs are common as workers alongside horses and are cared for the same way on farmsteads.

Geography:
Solistal is based on the UK islands physical geography*. It is very much the coldest nation, having snow almost all year round except for the 3 months often jokingly referred to as their 'summers'. Despite this, storms are infrequent and the weather is generally clear or slightly cloudy. Storms are constantly being prepared for, both snowstorms and magical storms, as the ones that do appear and particularly harsh in Solistal. Besides those, earthquakes have been recorded in the nation too.
*but only when I feel like it lol
Architecture:
Most of Solistal's territory is the northern mountain range that stretches from the east to west coasts. Adventurers struggle to survive in the winter on the other side of the mountains. Maybe, these harsh conditions are why there's an impossible amount of fossils found here compared to the other nations. These mountains are also the only place in Klenith that natural clusters of 'seals' can be mined for the magical properties. The seals are said to be the result of a magical blast that sent many forms of mega-fauna to go extinct, connecting to the fossils found here. Another piece of this theory is the 'everburning flame' kept watch near the capital city, Domongrad. Nobody has a reason for why it continues to burn despite the snow and ice surrounding it, but many suggest magic, specifically the magical blast that took out mega fauna. As there is no concrete way to find out, it is still being discussed by scholars and many myths have stemmed from these theories. From the outside, the planning of Solistal towns appear to be random, but is entirely dependent on what each towns considers necessary. If built on flatter ground and the need for stronger buildings is higher, that town puts it's most traveled buildings on the outside. Whereas, a different town will be secure in their mountain-side so will focus on their magic and research, therefore their magical stores and casters' homes would be placed further into the mountain walls. What's needed is most central, and what's not is pushed out. Many towns and cities are built into the side of the mountains, pushing their necessary buildings into the caves to be the most defensible. The styles, including materials used, follow Russian architecture. Although... squashed, because dwarves don't need as much room.
Trade/Commerce:
Solistal primarily exports the ore/minerals that are found in the mountains, the magical seals only found here, and have large stores of meat due to mega fauna hunting. They could be self-sufficient, however it would lower the citizens general happiness and lifestyles. As they have such large holdings over the ores and seals, trading is a constant request from the other nations. Whilst the continent wide trade is currency based, within the Solistal borders it is often information based. Even when currency is required, the price will often be lowered for a good book or two. Their largest import is dyes from Birkina, requiring ink for the libraries, and their lowest being finer/thinner cloths.

Kamikita; Land of Patience and Glory
south west corner of the continent, primarily human citizens
Tumblr media
Matt Seymour on Unsplash.
Society:
The social structure mostly mimics the classes of England in the late middle ages. Kamikita call themselves gracious or foolhardy, but outsiders often call them compassionate people, or arrogant bastards. This could be because travelers and immigrants are greeted kindly with the expectation that they will be leaving, and if not they are encroaching on humans lives. Ironically, humans are happy to settle anywhere in Klenith. Subtle or easily hidden tattoos are fine, magical or otherwise, and few subtle piercings are also acceptable. Makeup, jewelry and perfume are fun and creative ways to decorate yourself, hats and umbrellas are trending in Kamikita recently. Typically, an attractive human will not use any artificial things to make themselves more beautiful. Long hair and a good sense of humour are desired. If the disabled cannot be supported by their families, they can be helped at the centers run by religious followers. The buildings are made for anyone that cannot support themself and can be found in any major city in Kamikita. In smaller towns, the religious sites may take these people in but may also send caravans to larger cities when resources are stretched thin.
Professions:
Education in Kamikita is generally privatised, those able to pay will send their children to learn in certain guilds in major cities, otherwise families teach their own in the family business. This means there are no schools, the closest being following an 'instructor' while being inducted into a guild. Art is celebrated in Kamikita, especially in festivals and ceremonies of all kinds. Song and dance are the most popular forms, anything musical can bring people together.
Language:
The 4 main languages in Klenith are human, orcish, dwarvish, and elvish. In Kamikita, their main language is human with use of all other languages within their merchant guilds and/or along their borders. Human has no discernible accent. Their writing however is very fun, loopy, and letters flowing together*. There is the royals sign language, and general peoples sign language which started in the merchant guilds and quickly grew to be popularly used throughout Klenith. It is commonly referred to as the merchants hand signs but because of its use everywhere and outside the guilds as well, it is very much the general language overall. Kamikita has fairly even swears from vulgarity and religious words. Humans like to mix and match swears from other countries, finding the most obtuse way to insult someone. As for gestures, the middle finger is common, and pulling at your bottom eyelid. The royal family bare a green crest with a yellow four pointed star, held at the top between two black hands. The royal colours are yellow and green. The star has four points, representing the four major roads out of the capital city, Maashi, and the hands holding the 'city' aloft are the people in Kamikita.

Geography:
Kamikita is based on the UK islands physical geography.* Out of all Klenith nations, Kamikita has the most obvious seasonal changes in its colours, summer is green, autumn is red, winter is brown/white, and spring is pink. Lots of Kamikita is seasonal including religion, trade, and magic. Its animals often migrate through here on their way either to Solistal for summer and Birkina for winter, so seasonal appearances are special. It rains less in the summer here but that doesn't stop its natural growth throughout. Earthquakes don't affect Kamikita much, neither do tsunamis with Birkina island being off their coast on the west. Their most dreaded disaster is drought, is truly devastates the nation even when prepared for as their livelihoods are built around their agriculture and rivers.
*but only when I feel like it lol
Architecture:
Kamikita has fields of crops as far as the eye can see, most wild because there is simply too much for farmers to tend to. Roads in the nation are winding to give you time to take in the view; to 'stop and smell the roses'. The nation's natural beauty and power is it's biggest draw for travelers as there are limited wonders. The most popular two being, Kamikita's 'ever glowing' lake that has been dragged many times and still there is no physical magical source besides the water itself; and the man-made wonder of Klenith's largest greenhouse tempts gardeners from all over Klenith. Inside, there are flowers for everything; flowers that can raise the dead, cure any illness, to kill with a glance, to give beauty and grace, to strengthen your body. Its capital city, Maashi, is a founder of garden cities* alongside its sister city in Birkina. Many of Kamikita's cities are bustling garden cities now, with farmhouses being sparse overnight buildings dotting the landscape. The actual architecture of the buildings follow traditional japanese patterns, the most common motifs are dragons, the sun, and floral designs.
*a real thing, research garden city planning for more
Trade/Commerce:
Kamikita's primary export is food; wheats, mango, pineapple, apple, peach, and other such fruits. This can be in its fresh whole form, or as jams, pickled, fermented, or juice. Their largest imports are GK's artisans, Solistal's magical seals, and Birkina's dyes. They hold the majority of trading across Klenith in their control due to the physical trading routes being within their borders, and their merchants guild being strongly supported by their royal family. It is funded by the royal family, possibly because their nation would crumble without the constant economy flowing for them.

Solistal; Land of Knowledge and Hunters
northern mountain border of the continent, primarily dwarf citizens
Tumblr media
Zeynep Sümer on unsplash.
Games:
'Intellectual' games are the most common in Solistal, chess being the most popular. Otherwise, 'dragon taming', pop-up circus' and mega fauna hunting raids are also well loved. Solistal's soldiers and weapon and armour crafters enjoy Great Kettering's knight tourneys.
Clothes:
The most used clothing are furs and leathers in dull colours. Even royals wear 'plain' layers of leathers and a fur coat over the top. They are a generally prude-ish nation concerning clothing as nobody would want to be any colder unless there was something to gain. Even inside, they dress warm and practical overall. Dwarvish fashion is the easiest to pick out due to its dull practicality. However they do love accessories, especially in glitter. Their crowns, jewelry, pins, buttons, bags, buckles, piercings, are extravagant and sparkly.
Food:
The Solistal diet is mostly meat from their mega fauna hunting, fungi from their underground hydroponics, and other above ground plants. There is hunting, trapping and fishing here as they do not raise their own meat. There is little need to as they are the only nation that gets regular appearances of mega fauna, although some smaller, less connected towns may require additional sources of leather. Growing their own plants as food is the more reliable and stable source for them, sometimes while underground as well.
Animals/Plants:
Because this is fantasy Russia, the usual flora/fauna are going to mimic real life. So here I will talk about the fantasy creatures and how they interact with stuff and things. The list of creatures found in Solistal are dragons, shifters, fae, dryads, treants, vampires and griffins. They are generally passive and/or private creatures that will not go out of their way to harm people. Except vampires, although they have trouble hunting alone citizens as the buildings are so pressed close and overlapping that nobody can ever truly go missing without it being noticed quickly. Griffins are tamable and used in mega fauna hunts, yet are much more unruly than dogs or horses. Outside of fantastical creatures, dwarves enjoy keeping cats in their homes, treating them as 'shared' pets. With so many towns being built into the side of mountains, cats were great at hunting small pests that would try hiding inside as well. Their reflective piercing eyes are good for picking up the supernatural and/or magically inclined as well.
