Okay, so yesterday I finally posted Chapter 8 of Every little helps after a loooong time. It's technically the last chapter, though there's an epilogue coming in the weekend. So this is barely a wip anymore, which feels both weird, relieving and also kinda like a loss 🥲
Anyway, here are some cool stats about the fic:
As of chapter 7, there were 108 kiss mentions in this wip. Chapter 8 added another 44 kisses to the mix.

1. Maybe this is how he takes me out, at last—smothered in kisses, my breath stolen from my lungs.
2. For a moment, I'm too engrossed in the kiss to remember I should be interrogating Baz—it isn't perfect, by any means; it's actually sloppy, and Baz's inexperience seeps through in the way his lips move, uncoordinated.
But it feels perfect.
3. Simon melts into me, kissing me hard, hot and hungry. His hands go to my hair, pulling, and my breath hitches. He holds me by the back of my neck and pulls me impossibly closer, until I have no way to escape, nowhere to go but further into his mouth.
4. He pushes me away, lightly, licking his shiny lips and turning away when I try to kiss him again. It's fine. I like his sharp cheekbones—I rub my face against his, feeling the lightest pinpricks of stubble against my skin.
5. I kiss his cheek, then smooth my hand down his back, trying to shoo away the tension growing there. "I'm just saying, maybe you should eat me."
6. He kisses like he used to fight me: not giving an inch, wrestling for control. I don't really want to win, I just like this. I like him like this—feral and uncoordinated and angry. Not poised and indifferent for once. Maybe this is what I really wanted all those times I tried to prove he was plotting; to see Baz drop the act.
7. He kisses me with a fire, tasting like smoke and want. He kisses me like he wants to suck something through my lips. He scrapes his teeth over my tongue, and I let him.
8. I push the hunger down when it threatens to rise, and instead focus on the task Baz has given me. I kiss him slowly, softly. Gentle. Because he wants me to, and I can’t deny him anything.

Share a personal headcanon that you feel very strongly about: Probably not the most original one, but Mickey never liked his full name until Ian stated he thought it was beautiful. Him using it in his wedding vows is symbolic of him reconciling with the darkest parts of himself and accepting them before offering his whole self to Ian, a declaration of love for both of them in his own way. The fact that it somewhat mirrors the act of him apprehensively coming out in front of his own hostile audience, only to confidently show his self-acceptance and love for Ian in front of their favorite people 6 years later is just icing on the (wedding) cake 💖

The first El WooWoo of the year! And as the banner says, I’m still reading instead of writing. So here we go. Buckle up, Klainers and ... Snovians (???? is there a name for Snowbaz shippers? This is just Simon. Snowbazzians?) (What would you call Baz fans? Bazzies?).
I am really enjoying these fic rec posts, more than I thought. It also motivates me to read more, which is a win-win. I do have some ideas for Ljubim te again, so I think I’ll start writing them soon. But maybe I will make a separate post for fics, aside from Wip Wednesday and Six Sentence Sunday? Fic Rec Friday?
ANYWAY, buckle up, it’s a long post, so the entire rec + tags will be under cut today!
Some non-fic recs first. Some? One, actually. I am rereading my Kickstarter books for Check, Please! in preparation for the delivery of the Year 4 Kickstarter. I... uh... asked the shipping costs for that campaign as a Christmas gift. But God yeah, I love this webcomic so much. Time to get back to the SMH (Samwell Meme’s Hockey Team).

I am catching up on The Rise and Fall of Simon Snow by @confused-bi-queer. I last read chapter 5, and [Jason Mendoza voice] oh Simon and Baz, we’re really in it now. I am upsetti spaghetti.
I am still riding the angst train right into Is It Over Yet? by @jayne89. God I really wish Carmen was actually this good, instead of a plot device for Rachel’s.... uhm... questionable storylines. Really excited for more of this verse.
God, I am really going through it, huh? @thnxforknowingme wrote a 2022 fic in review where she mentioned True Colors, a character study of Quinn between season 2 and 3, and I like the premise. I really enjoyed it. Damn, skank!Quinn had so much potential, but RIB just had to do the wack baby storyline.
This isn’t Jenna’s only fic that I have read. I finally, finally read Miles To Go, and I know a fic this wonderful should have a long and coherent comment, but I am just speechless. So utterly speechless. I started it when it was originally posted, but I had just lost my grandmother and yeah it was the wrong time. Now, we got the message that it’s time for my uncle to collect her ashes. Weird way to go back to a fic, but that’s what happened, and this fic tugged at my heartstrings. I definitely recommend it to everyone.
Also, more Jenna stuff, but insert the Chris Fleming meme here. Was no one ever going to tell me that Jenna has written Hades fic, or was I just supposed to find out by browsing through her AO3 by myself? Aíma.... YOOOO. The relation between Zaggie and blood? Jenna, your mind!
More sad shit? More sad shit! @wellbelesbian really made me say FUCK THE MAGE with the latest chapter of blow on the tinder. Guys, this is such a good fic. Alex, I am so glad you’re continuing it!
Okay, okay, whooo, time out with the angst. @redheadgleek‘s Pierce My Soul is a fluffy gem and I am a bitch for costume crew!Kurt. Although he got promoted here and he designed the costumes, including Blaine’s. There are so many great gems in this fic, but I lost it at Brad Ellis being the piano man. And when the fic mirrored dialogue from the show.... my heart!
I definitely boarded the fluff train now. I saw @letraspal‘s art for @skeedelvee‘s Drunken Kisses. I am all 🥺🥺🥺🥺 about this fic. Simon “He Is Plotting” Snow is amazing. Mix it with Baz “Gay Yearning” Pitch and voila!
@facewithoutheart delves into Simon’s sad childhood, but in a fluffy way, in What I Wouldn’t Give. Simon gets his first plushie and we all cry. I am such a bitch for this concept and Christina helpfully linked to another one, namely to @lifewithoutmotivation‘s Flamey. I am just overwhelmed on Simon’s behalf! This guy deserves all the gifts and birthday parties! (Also, congrats on the new URL!)
And we’re going to end this rec post with more holiday cheers from the holiday queers (really, did anyone watch The New Normal?) with @1908jmd‘s Klaine Advent 2022 - With their favourite people. Jen did a true drabble challenge and all the snippets are about the people in Kurt and Blaine’s lives and look I just got very emo over it.

WIP Wednesday
This one is a little late. I wasn't sure what to post yesterday. I’m running out of polished work to share.
Progress is coming along nice. Simon and Baz have met, and I’m currently drafting chapter 4.
Tasha is proving to be a very funny and heartwarming character to write.
For my WIP Wednesday post, I am going to post a longer section along with less plot. I don’t want to give away all my secrets.
For those who didn’t see last sunday’s post, this is an Enchanted Au for Snowbaz.
 Simon Snow is a hero of the land of magic. Known for slaying dragons, Simon is finally ready to find true love. He thinks he’s found that in Princess Agatha. A beautiful maiden who seemingly fits all the criteria of Penny’s spell designed to find his true love. But when she disappears down a well into another realm hours before their wedding, Simon goes after her, intent on rescuing her and securing his happily ever after.
Baz is a lawyer new to New York, having moved recently from London to escape his family and the loveless marriage forced upon him. He just wants to complete his divorce and win the custody battle to keep his daughter, Tasha. He lost hope for finding love years ago. But his world gets rocked when he meets a very handsome, and very insane man with dragon wings threatening him with a sword.
The story currently in it’s drafting stage.
“The world underneath me is white mountain peaks and the green of pines. Perfect as they always are in the land of magic. I tuck in my wings and dip suddenly into a nosedive.
My heart pounds with the rushing in my ears, and my face splits into a manic grin. Cold air turns rapidly to warm as I dip into the valley.
At the last second, I spread my wings and they catch, as if on an invisible force, and I’m soaring again right above a field filled with dusty purple and white flowers that dot the hillside. They bow as I pass, pushed by the gust of my wings and the wind that carries them. I reach down to run a hand through the tall grasses, and snatch up a couple flowers, tucking them into the pouch Penny provided.
There’s a white rabbit snuffling in the grass as I fly by. He sits up to watch me, so I wave at him cheerfully.
He smiles and waves back at me.”

NBA: Timberwolves move into eighth with win over Pelicans trendynewsbro

Karl-Anthony Towns scored 30 points and the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated New Orleans 113-108 in Minneapolis on Sunday to move past the Pelicans into eighth place entering the Western Conference play-in tournament.
Anthony Edwards added 26 points and 13 rebounds, Taurean Prince scored 18 points and Mike Conley had 17 points and seven assists for the Timberwolves (42-40), who tied the Pelicans’ regular-season record and won the season series 2-1.
They will visit the No. 7 Lakers in a play-in game Tuesday night.

New Orleans’ Brandon Ingram had 42 points and 12 rebounds, CJ McCollum scored 23 points and Trey Murphy III had 20. Jonas Valanciunas added 11 points and 18 rebounds for the Pelicans, who will be the ninth seed and host the No. 10 Oklahoma City Thunder in an elimination play-in game Wednesday.
The Pelicans scored the first six points of the third quarter and the Wolves countered with the next seven to get within 61-54.
McCollum made consecutive baskets to push the lead to 11 before Edwards scored nine points help Minnesota pull even at 74.
Ingram’s jumper broke the tie with a basket and he and McCollum combined for New Orleans’ final 14 points of the period. Wendell Moore Jr.’s tip-in with two seconds remaining left helped the Wolves trim the Pelicans’ lead to 85-83 entering the fourth quarter.

Towns, who missed most of the third quarter after committing his fourth foul, made three 3-pointers in the first two minutes of the fourth to give Minnesota a 92-87 lead.
Murphy tied the score at 95 on a dunk, the score was tied again and the lead changed hands four times before Prince’s two free throws gave the Wolves a 105-102 lead.
Ingram made two free throws, but New Orleans missed its next four shots and turned the ball over twice. McConley’s free throw and Edwards’ three-point play gave Minnesota a 109-104 lead with 57 seconds left.
The Pelicans got within three and had the ball, but Murphy’s awkward 3-pointer was an airball with 6.2 seconds left and Conley made two free throws.

Gera Pune Residential Realty Report for the period of January 2022 to June 2022:
Historically Highest ever launch of new homes in Pune residential realty market at 1,15,996 - a surge of 80%
Highest ever sales for the year at 1,05,625 homes, an increase of 24%
Average rates per sf up to Rs. 5,208 per sqft, an increase of 8.11%
Inventory available for sale drops 30% below peak of 1,07,402 apartments seen in Jun ’16
Pune, July 06, 2022: The residential real estate segment gained significant momentum in the first half of 2022. In a bid to meet the supply deficit in Pune’s residential realty market triggered by stalling of projects due to Covid-19 pandemic, developers continued the trend of an increased number of new homes being brought to the market as per the Gera realty Report.
For the half year ending Jun’21, a total of 26,611 units were brought to the market. This has risen by 106% to 54,845 homes being brought to market in the first half of 2022. For the 12 months from July 2020 – July 2021, a total of 64,671 homes were brought to the market. This increased by 80% to 1,15,996 homes brought to the market between July 2021-June 2022 and is the highest number of homes launched over a 12-month period into the Pune market.
On the other hand, the inventory available for sale is 74,818 apartments, 30% below the peak of 1,07,402 apartments seen in Jun ’16. Gera Developments has classified projects into 4 stages based on construction status i.e., Early, Mid, End and Ready. Early-stage inventory constitutes ~27% of all available units for sale as on Jun ’22. The early-stage inventory was at 19.12% a year ago, however, this has increased on account of the number of new projects and new inventory launched in the last year.
Gera Developments – the pioneers of real estate business and the award-winning creators of premium residential and commercial projects in Pune, Goa and Bengaluru, on Wednesday, released the July 2022 edition of their bi-annual report, titled ‘The Gera Pune Residential Realty Report’. The report is an outcome of the longest-running, census-based study of the residential realty market of Pune. It is based on primary and proprietary research conducted by Gera Developments and covers all existing projects in a 30-km radius of the city centre.
Overall, the residential real estate market in Pune is in an upcycle and gathering momentum sequentially. Looking at the yearly data of new launches by price segments, the average prices of homes across the city have increased by 8.11% in the last 12 months. There is a rise in prices across the board especially in the new projects where prices have gone up by ~ 24% in the last 12 months. 70 projects have been launched in the Luxury segment (Average price ~Rs 10,000+ Psf) which has contributed to the significant rise in the average prices across the city.
Explaining the overall trend in the market, Mr Rohit Gera, Managing Director, Gera Developments, said, “After years of prices falling, we have now seen home prices continue to rise for the last 2 years. This is a good sign as affordability continues to be near all-time highs as well. Sales and new project launches are at all-time highs. The last 12 months saw more than 1.15 lakh homes being brought to market and over 1.05 lakh homes being sold. Both numbers are all time high records. The luxury segment too, saw an increase in sales and new launches – in fact to compensate for the years of being in the doldrums.
While on one hand, we saw positive sentiment translating to robust sales and positive price movement after years of shocks created by man and God, we are now faced with a war, supply chain disruption, inflation, global challenges, a stock market rout, rising interest rates. In addition to this, we also have the Government to thank for a massive increase in the FSI leading to a potential over supply. The acronym VUCA is extremely applicable to the Pune Real Estate market. VUCA stands for Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous. And in our view, cautious optimism is the way to go in this VUCA world”
The report also suggests affordability levels have seen a slight reduction however, on an overall basis, the affordability continues to be very strong at 3.61x annual income. Over time interest rates and prices (from Dec ’14 onwards) have trended down, while incomes have risen thereby increasing the affordability significantly. The other impact of affordability is that customers now can move to the bigger developers who have the capabilities to deliver on promises. When affordability was low, customers had no choice but to settle for lesser known developers leading to a fragmented market.
Comparing sales velocity in H1 2022 to H1 2021, there is a 31% increase in sales (from 40,669 units to 53,398 units). Sales velocity increased by 24% in the last 12 months compared the previous 12 month period (from 85,378 units to 1,05,625 units)
The PremiumPlus and Luxury segment has done exceedingly well with high double digit growth rates of 75% and 74%. The segment that is still underserved is the Budget segment and one should expect to see an increased supply in this segment going forward. At 53,398 units offtake at a six monthly level is the highest that we have seen in the last 7.5 years. The least growth in offtake is seen in the Budget segment (+4%).
The number of large projects (those with more than 500 units) as on Jun ’22 is 177 which in Jun ’18 was 115. This absolute number has increased by 54% over the last 5 years. In Jun ’18, these 115 projects constituted ~3% out of the total of 3,472 projects being developed. In Jun ’22, the 177 projects constituted 7% out of the total of 2,503 projects being developed.
Looking at the total inventory distributed across small projects (<=100 units)- only 15% of the total inventory is in this segment. This used to be 30% 5 years ago. In contrast large projects ( >=500 units) now constitute 11% of the total inventory in Pune.
Here are the key highlights of the report, encompassing trends from January to June 2022:
# Highest ever launch of new homes at 1,15,996 - a surge of 80%
The effect of the pandemic has totally been eliminated when it comes to new projects being launched.
Fresh supply launched remained at an elevated level and conclusively above pre-covid levels for two consecutive 6 monthly periods in the running. For the 12 months ended Jun’21, a total of 64,617 units were brought to the market. This has risen by 80% to 115,996 homes being brought to market in the 12 months ended Jun ‘22. This is the highest 12 month new inventory ever introduced into the Pune market.
# Inventory available for sale at 74,818 units
At an overall level, the inventory available for sale is 74,818 apartments, 30% below peak of 1,07,402 apartments seen in Jun ’16.
Ready inventory constitutes 5.19% of the units available as on Jun ’22. Ready inventory for sale has come down from 8,369 homes in Jun ’20 to 3,880 in Jun ’22. This low level of ready inventory is also at historic lows. The End + ready inventory now constitutes 6.5% as on Jun ’22 – 50% lower than what it was 5 years ago when it constituted ~13%
# Highest ever sales for the year at 1,05,625 homes, an increase of 24 %
Comparing sales velocity in H1 2022 to H1 2021, there is a 31% increase in sales (from 40,669 units to 53,398 units). Sales velocity increased by 24% in the last 12 months compared the previous 12 month period (from 85,378 units to 1,05,625 units).
When you look at how sales recovery responded after the 1st and 2nd covid wave we see that sales volume has sustained for the last 12 months even after the 2nd wave effects have subsided.
# Premium Plus and Luxury segments leading the fresh supply
Looking at the more granular 6 monthly growth data of new launches, we see the same pattern of Premium Plus and Luxury segments leading the fresh supply with growth rates well into triple digits. The PremiumPlus segment saw a Y-o-Y increase of 160% in the fresh supply launched while the Luxury segment did even better clocking 287%. Back again for another WIP Wednesday! Thank you for the tags @confused-bi-queer, @martsonmars, @takitalks, @you-remind-me-of-the-babe, @captain-aralias, @facewithoutheart, @bookish-bogwitch, @johnwgrey, and @cutestkilla!
It's been a rough writing week so far, but I'm hopeful for the weekend. I have managed a little progress on the final Bound and Determined chapter, but everything feels like a spoiler so I might keep it under wraps until posting.
In the meantime, here's a new underground bare-knuckle boxing AU I'm indulging in 😅. Extended snippet and tags below the cut!

"Remember the plan,” Premal hisses in my ear and I nod, sluggish, as he wipes down my shoulders and chest, mopping up blood and sweat and leaving water dripping. I watch the sign girl strut around the ring with the number 4 held high. She catches my eye and winks.
Premal grips my chin and jerks me to face him head on. “Go down. Stay down.”
The bell rings and I’m back in it, shoved forward. I jab, Baz dodges, he rounds with a hook, I block it. He’s quick, follows with a punch that lands on my ribs and I tense at the impact. I purposefully lower my block to give Baz an opening, knowing he'll take it. He's been fucking ruthless all night.
A fist cracks against my jaw and the world flickers. Blinking in and out like a bad bulb. All I have to do is fall and my job is done. I make my money and live to fight another day.
I hit the floor with a bounce, leaving blood and sweat splattered in my wake. My vision’s blurred and my hearing’s muffled. The ref is shouting out the count, but it sounds far away. Underwater. So does the crowd, as lit as they are, drunk and slurring, demanding I stay down, demanding I get up.
A single voice cuts through everything. “You can do better than that.”
I blink, slowly, and look up to find Baz staring down.
This fucker.
And in the span of my next breath, I push to my feet and swing. The hook connects as the bell rings, and Baz is reeling back with a smile, mouth guard stained red.
He spits out blood. “I told you so.”
I stare at the dribble of red down his chin, locking my knees to keep myself upright. Adrenaline pumps through my system, and I forget. I forget about the money. I forget about the consequences.
I clench my fists and drag my tongue over my split lip.
I could do this. I could be more than the fall guy. I could win.
But I don’t. Fifth round K.O.

So, pre SamBucky and SteveTony: Tony needs help fundraising for a VA initiative and he picks Sam as his date/partner for the events because Sam is 1. Awesome 2. experienced with these sorts of endeavours 3. Will actually socialize and solicit donations and not play a scowling wallflower (Steve) and 4. Is responsible and trust worthy enough to not just go completely off script/take off like a wild card (Bucky)
And while Sam and Tony go do amazing charity together, Steve and Bucky are lonely and grumpy and pining and jealous together while they wait for their future better halfs to have time for them again lol
(Once equilibrium is restored Steve and Bucky will have normal bro hang outs again, but those were impossible when Tony wasn’t there on Steve and his “New York Italian restaurant tour” that happens every Wednesday, or Sam missed his and Bucky’s bi-weekly darts game lol)
okay but sambucky having a regular darts night!!! why is that so cute to me? they are extra competitive but it's mostly because when one of them is winning they get to be close to the other to show them "how it's done" and both of them love those times so <3
also anything with the four of them being a mess of confused jealous emotions is so good... like, tony and sam dancing?? objectively a very attractive sight and steve and bucky are watching from the sidelines like 🥵 bc of course they attend whatever the event is... they've lost their best guys to it for how many weeks!

what first drew him to you, was when your friend group was hanging out with his friend group (atsumu, osamu, bascially the volleyball team), and he was done with the miya twins bullshit so he went over to talk to you, because he thought you looked pretty chill and fun to be around, so you guys just vibed and got closer, until one day he asked you out, and you guys started dating.
this man has an ADDICTION to monster energy, and he is really pretentious about it, and he says shit like “i could never drink bang, the flavor is just not at the same quality as monster.” with a stupid grin on his face, and you just have to agree with him so he will shut up. he doesn’t really have a favorite flavor, but he hates the juice ones.
both of you are procrastinators, so you guys always have those lowkey freak outs about all the stuff you have to do and it’s all due tomorrow together. you and suna have learned to split up the work, or share answers with each other, and somehow you guys get all of your work done, though you have cut it close a couple of times. (suna was able to finish 3 paragraphs in 15 minutes)
he will call you at like 3am, and just say “i’m hungry let’s go” and he takes you to a mcdonalds, where he orders the weirdest food combos ever (mustard and a mcflurry), and pretends to like it, until he literally cannot drink anymore and just throws it out when he thinks you aren’t looking at him. he also steals your food a lot (annoying ass mf), and if you call him out on it, he’ll just say that he’s your boyfriend, so he’s allowed to do these things.
suna likes to make hyper specific playlists for you, and they have really long specific names like “it’s a rainy wednesday night and you are in bed and just opened my snap i sent you and you are responding back”. the playlists are actually pretty good, so if the time comes when the specific scenario is a reality, you are sure to pull up the playlist to listen to it, and it fits the mood perfectly.
you guys will both make fun of atsumu, because his reactions to being jokingly (kind of) insulted by two people are so funny, and sometimes osamu joins in, and atsumu almost can’t take it. suna is videotaping the whole thing and he posts it on his snapchat story, and so many people laugh at atsumu being overdramatic for a solid 4 days straight.
suna is your designated photographer, and if he ever thinks there will be a good shot for your insta, he will take it, and after the day ends, he will show them all to you and you’ll choose which one you think looks best. since he is always on the lookout for great photo opportunities, your instagram looks so good, and you look like a goddess in every photo (you already do😌)
he will go to all of your meets/games, because he really wants to support you in all of your sports, and if you or your team wins, he will get really excited, but he won’t show it because “he has a reputation”. after any game/meet, he will be sure to congratulate you and say that you were better than everyone else, and he has video proof of it.
if you ever drag him along with you to go shopping, he’ll be a little baby about it and complain about why he has to go, and you will have to drag him along like a child. after like 30 mins though, he will get bored of acting like a brat and will start giving you things to try on and will tell you that you look really good in everything that you were wearing. he does refuse to go into any of the feminine stores (pink, victoria’s secret, etc.), so he will just awkwardly wait outside until you finish shopping there, and he will be texting you to go faster the entire time.
overall, you guys are pretty chill yet chaotic at the same time, and you both think that everything that comes out of each other’s mouths is top tier comedy. you and suna are pretty spontaneous too, and people wish that they could be so relaxed with their s/o, while still having a fun time with them.

A Daredevil Comics Introduction for MCU Fans
I imagine a lot of MCU Daredevil fans are feeling pretty lost right now. The first thing the Iron Fist twitter account did after the show ended was provide a link to the comics, and since the Daredevil account wasn’t kind enough to do the same, I wanted to put together some basic information for Netflix show fans who are unfamiliar with the comics and want to keep Daredevil in their lives post-cancellation!
To start, there are a few basic continuity/character differences you should know about:
1. Matt has beautiful red hair. (This isn’t an important detail, I just... wanted to make sure everybody knew). Sticking with the theme of superficiality, he’s also significantly taller than Foggy.
2. Foggy was one of the last people to find out about Matt being Daredevil (though he is currently one of the only people who knows, thanks to a recent universe-wide mindwipe). Foggy also didn’t grow up in Hell’s Kitchen. He is from out-of-state and from a semi-wealthy family. He has a crusading party-girl younger sister named Candace, and his biological mother is the ruthless attorney Rosalind “Razor” Sharpe, with whom he has a distant and shaky relationship.
3. Karen Page is sadly no longer living. She was killed by Bullseye during a 1998 story arc. She was also never a journalist; rather, she was at various points Nelson & Murdock’s office manager, an actress, a social activist, and a radio talk show host. She and Matt dated on-and-off for a very long time. Matt has also dated many, many other people, and most of his girlfriends have died/suffered horribly in his presence. He is currently (and uncharacteristically) single.
4. Conversely, Ben Urich is very much alive. He was one of the first people to figure out Daredevil’s secret identity, and this formed the basis of what became a long-held and emotional friendship. (However, thanks to the recent mindwipe mentioned above, he no longer knows.)
5. Elektra and Matt dated in college, where Elektra was a political science major. She was born and raised in Greece, and her father was a Greek diplomat. When he was killed thanks to Matt’s amateur heroics during a botched hostage situation, Elektra left the country and trained with both the Chaste and the Hand, which sent her down a painful path that molded her into the expert assassin she is today. She was killed by Bullseye back in the 80s, but she got better.
6. Matt is a swashbuckling, fly-by-the-seat-of-his-pants adrenaline junkie, which is why he’s called “the Man Without Fear” and... well... Daredevil. He chose/reclaimed the name Daredevil as an act of empowerment during his first superhero outing (“the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen” is not a thing in the comics). He became a superhero to avenge his father’s death, which occurred when Matt was in either college or law school, depending on which writer you ask. Both Matt and Foggy attended Jack Murdock’s final boxing match.
7. Matt is much more religious in the show than he has ever been in the comics, since in the show he was raised in a Christian orphanage and in the comics he was raised by his father. There are a few story arcs that depict him as religious, but they are vastly in the minority.
8. This is true in the show too, but since it was sometimes unclear, let me reiterate: Matt cannot see. He doesn’t perceive any light. All of his sensory input is non-visual. He has superhumanly-enhanced senses, and something he calls his “radar sense”. The actual nature and parameters of the radar sense vary between creative teams, but it’s best to think of it as something like echolocation. It allows Matt 360 degree perception of solid objects up a certain distance from him. He could clearly do this in the show too, but it was never actually mentioned.
I could keep going, since there are plenty of other differences, but you should be able to catch on without too much confusion!
Where Should I Start?
You should start with Matt’s origin story, since there are a few key differences from the show’s version (some of which I mentioned above). The very first issue of Daredevil is quite good. However, if you’re put off by 1960s comics, you don’t need to start from the beginning. A really good retelling that is modern reader-friendly is Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale’s Daredevil: Yellow. It covers all of the basics, and is a very nice read. You may also see people mention Frank Miller’s Man Without Fear mini-series. It’s also good, though PLEASE NOTE that it was intended to be an alternate version of the story, and thus isn’t entirely canon.
Once you have the origin down, you can move to the main series. Don’t be intimidated by the 55 years-worth of comics-- again, you DON’T need to start at the beginning, and you don’t have to read everything if you don’t want to. All huge, decades-spanning series like Daredevil are filled with different jumping-on points in order to remain accessible to new readers. This can sometimes create confusion-- Daredevil will have been re-started six times as of February 2019, so if you look for Daredevil #1 you’ll get a whole bunch of different issues. Each of these re-starts is generally referred to as a “volume”, and if you follow this blog you’ll notice mentions of Daredevil volume 1, volume 2, etc. For the purposes of simplicity, in this post I’ll just be identifying the volumes based on the year they began, because that’s how they’re labeled in Marvel Unlimited. Marvel Unlimited is Marvel’s official digital archive, to which I highly recommend subscribing if you’re interested in reading a lot of back issues. All of my comics links in this post will take you there.
There are two starting points in particular that I recommend. They are both very good, but they're tonally different, so you can pick whichever suits your personal preferences.
1. If you crave more of the gritty noir of the Netflix-verse, I recommend starting with Daredevil (1998) #26. This is the first issue of the main thread of Brian Michael Bendis’s run, which is a phenomenal run that provided tonal inspiration for the show. At that point in continuity, Matt is still recovering from Karen Page’s death. He and Foggy have started up a new iteration of Nelson & Murdock (there have been many) and are doing very well; the run starts with them winning a multi-million dollar court settlement. The other important piece of context for this first arc is that Wilson Fisk was shot in the head in a previous story, while left him blind and weakened his criminal empire. Bendis’s run is quite long and will lead you directly into Ed Brubaker’s, which picks up immediately afterward with issue #82 and is also very good.
2. If you want something a bit lighter and more swashbuckley, I recommend starting with Mark Waid’s run. It’s my personal favorite Daredevil run (and I like a lot of Daredevil, so that’s saying something), and it’s a great jumping-on point because it starts a new volume. It kicks off with Daredevil (2011) #1 and goes through #36-- at which point the comic got another new #1. Thus, Waid did a little mini-series called Daredevil: Road Warrior to bridge the two volumes, then carried on the story with Daredevil (2014) #1. Context for this run is a little weirder. Matt has just recently returned to NYC after getting possessed by a demon and then taking a mental vacation to get over it. Upon his return, he and Foggy rebuild Nelson & Murdock yet again, and Matt decides that after all of the pain and suffering he’s been through, he’s going to be happy and enjoy life no matter what. It’s also important to know that his secret identity is basically public knowledge at this point, since a newspaper got ahold of the information and outed him during Bendis’s run.

What’s Going On Right Now?
As of right now (December 2018), Matt is in an exciting position! The latest Daredevil run (AKA Daredevil (2015) or Daredevil volume 5) just ended with issue #612. Currently, Matt is in Marvel Knights 20th, which is a six-issue bi-weekly mini-series about an alternate universe-type situation in which the world has been made to forget superheroes. Matt, Frank Castle, Elektra Natchios, Bruce Banner, T’Challa, and various others have to regain their own memories and figure out what happened.
Then in January 2019, we’re getting a five-issue weekly (yes, that’s right, weekly) mini-series called Man Without Fear (not to be confused with Frank Miller’s Man Without Fear, which I mentioned earlier). This will be a retrospective, with each issue covering a different significant person/group of people in Matt’s life.
And as soon as that ends, in February 2019 the next volume of the main series will begin, with Daredevil (2019) #1! GET EXCITED!
Where Can I Get Comics?
I already mentioned Marvel Unlimited, which is attached to the Marvel website, through which you can purchase digital issues in addition to subscribing to the archive. Another great source for digital comics is Comixology (though sadly, just like everything else on the planet, it’s owned by Amazon). And of course, you can buy physical copies. Don’t hesitate to visit your local comic book store, because they are great resources and can also be nice places to connect with other fans. “RuPaul’s Drag Race star Courtney Act is helping break down gender barriers on the Australian version of Strictly Come Dancing, which she’s set to compete in with a male professional partner.
The drag artist – real name Shane Janek – was revealed as a contestant on the upcoming series of Dancing With The Stars on Wednesday.
Courtney announced the news on Instagram, posting a picture of herself with her new dance partner Joshua Keefe.
Revealing she will be performing as her drag alter-ego, she wrote: “Imma be twinkling round the floor on Dancing With The Stars in Australia!!! Can’t wait to do all the sexy dances and wear all the pretty dresses.”
She also referenced her infamous fall on the way into the Celebrity Big Brother house last year, adding: “Hopefully no wardrobe malfunctions this time.”
The Australian version of the show is the latest around the world to embrace same-sex partnerships, as conversation continues on the issue here in the UK.
So far, Strictly bosses have decided to stick with what they have repeatedly called the “traditional ballroom format” of male and female pairs.
This is despite many Strictly stars – including judge Craig Revel Horwood and professional dancer Ajlaz Skorjanec – calling for the show to embrace the change and feature same-sex pairs.
Courtney will be joined on Dancing With The Stars by the half-sister of former Neighbours star Holly Valance, Olympia. Olympia previously followed in her sibling’s footsteps by starring on the Aussie soap, playing Paige Smith from 2014 to 2018.
It has been a busy year for Courtney, as fresh from winning the UK version of Celebrity Big Brother last year, she toured the country with her own show, before hosting E! series The Bi Life and landing her own Channel 4 festive special.”

MGA SEASON 4 – EPISODE FOUR { Team G : 징미와 가시 }

last week was a shock. they were close to the bottom and while they weren’t in last place, they still lost daehwi. it hurt losing the younger, but he hoped that they would continue to be great. then, it was all over for the former team i. they were split up into new teams. he had told his team that he was going to treat them to dinner, and that’s what he ended up doing that same night. he had heard what the netizens were saying about him. he was too old to be an idol, not talented enough. he knew that. he knew all that, but it was hell just realizing that. he wasn’t worthy of being here and yet here he was, still going on. still continuing. his personal determination knew no bounds.
so, here he was. at kt building, in an empty practice room waiting for his new team to show up. when everyone did come, he was so happy that he was with soojin again. it was nice seeing a familiar face, and of course, still feeling the effect of losing daehwi was felt but he wanted to do well for him. the song and choosing a leader had taken some time, but after several options, bad boy was chosen. he would have preferred a more vocal song like deja vu or i’m so sick, but bad boy was good too. there were many ideas thrown out and sungyeol liked it. while he couldn’t be leader again, he threw out soojin’s name claiming that “she was a big help while we were working on stuff with team I,” he honsetly really liked his team.
chungha had a ton of charisma. he had seen it when her team was performing and her dance skills were off the charts, in sungyeol’s humble opinion. somi and sicheng too were not supposed to be slept on. somi had a lot of talent. sungyeol thought about arrangements and even faces. they had to serve the visual and the confidence. as the one team member with the highest charisma and creativity, sungyeol was up to that challenge. he knew how to serve that confidence on a platter. but it was strange, they were actually clicking really well together despite being completely different. sungyeol didn’t feel as out of place as he had expected. the entire first day, Monday, was spent splitting lines, deciding the choreo, and of course the whole song choice and leader choice debate.
he joined chungha in their design stuffs. they had to choose a good aesthetic for everyone and while sungyeol’s own style wasn’t all that great (hellooo kurt cobain grunge and denim on denim fashion choices), his creativity allowed him to help out with outfits. that was something that he took great pride on. so of course, they created a pinterest account together to brainstorm ideas. they soon enough brainstormed enough ideas, for like a badass set of outfits. it was easy to find all the clothes that they needed but it took some time. he wanted to make sure that they stood out for the right reasons. they had to be one of the top teams this time. sungyeol didn’t particularly like that they were seventh even with what they managed to pull off and team a was first as though they were best (they weren’t and sungyeol didn’t think that they deserved the win.)
it didn’t mean that they didn’t spend time goofing off. they had fun. sungyeol teased soojin, somi and chungha a lot. one particular incident was that they had been talking how this concept made them feel and somi had insisted on love and a boy. he had taken this opportunity to say something deep and philosophical. “why think of love? why not think of badass shit? like you know how the main character in action movies and mangas has explosions behind them. that sort of badass shit.” he laughs, and immediately apologizes for the language since somi was a baby and chungha seemed to be glaring at him. he laughed. it was easy to laugh with them. they were almost like a family.
two days before they had to film though the episode (Wednesday, for whoever is counting), though, sungyeol was not alone. he had a toddler girl in his arms. “sorry everyone. i had to bring my girl with me since my parents are away on business and grandparents are too busy as well.” he said, laughing. he had introduced the toddler in his arms as his daughter. he walked over to the camera with a grin and before everyone else got to the practice studio, he explained the whole thing. “I’m a widowed dad, you know, and Haebin is my whole life after her mom passed away,” he feels really shy about saying this. “But Binnie will be good,” he says, and the little girl waves cutely. The blowout with the president of Miracle Corporation, his grandfather, almost three years ago now had been a fairly public affair (a lot of screaming, begging and sungyeol getting called trash ) and even before then, him and his wife had shown up at some events together so it shouldn’t have been that shocking. When everyone else walks in, he knows his daughter running around is a bit suprising but he’s got no one to take her at home and so he’s got to bring her with him for the day. after all, he doesn’t think that having a kid is that big of a hinderance. he is the oldest person on the mgas, why wouldn’t he have a kid already. of course, his teammates are all over her, cooing over how cute she is. he’s happy that his “dadhood” has been accepted so well. he motions his daughter to sit off to the side and he sets her up comfortably with a coloring book and juice box and a bag of snacks. he began practicing, taking extra care in his moves and his vocals, knowing that his daughter is watching. when break time came, sungyeol flopped next to his daughter, drinking water, and she offered him a smile. “look daddy! i made the sky pink!” she exclaimed, all proud. sungyeol looked over and ruffled her hair. “mm, i love the pink sky! does a princess live in this world?” he asked, and haebin nodded. “well, show daddy the picture when you’re allll done! i’m looking forward to your work,” he said, grinning. he planted a kiss on her cheek and went back to practice.
that’s how the rest of the day went. chungha had played with bis daughter for a bit and showed her some of their dance moves and sungyeol couldn’t help but laugh. he did some more planning of the outfits work and of course, he was filming their practice to see what they needed to practice with their stage presences as the one with the most charisma. when the practice was over, he walked over to his daughter and quickly packed her princess backpack and swung it on his back before packing his bag. she stood quietly by his side and he offered her his hand. Before leaving though, Haebin playfully smiles cutely. “Good luck pretty Somi unnie, handsome Sicheng oppa, charismatic Chungha unnie and cute Soojin unnie!” sungyeol couldn’t resist a laugh. “see you tomorrow guys… let’s go Binnie. Ice cream and then I have to take you home,” he said, leaving the practice room with the girl running after him and even ahead.
the next two days were pretty uneventful, except that sungyeol and chungha managed to find everyone’s outfits and forced them to do a fashion show. when he modeled his outfit, he blushed as chungha called him a handsome dad and told the ladies to hit him up on kakao. he struck a charming pose with a cute wink. “handsome oppa coming to save everyone~ I’m a hero!” it was all in good fun and they were having a blast.
d. day came. they had worked hard and he knew that they put their all into this. as they were waiting for their turn, soojin had pulled him aside and showed him her nails, explaining that they spelled Daehwi’s name. Feeling nostalgic about their first team performance, sungyeol pulled her into a tight hug. “so cute. let’s do well for daehwi.” he said, grinning at her.
they weren’t dead last but they were close to there. he hopes that what they did this week is enough. he watches the other performances and a part of him wants to throw up. he felt sick and nervous to his stomach. however when their turn comes, he pushes the nerves down, adjusts his hair and sighs. once again, he has to lay everything down. he’s proud of soojin and doesn’t hesitate to tell her so after she says thank you for choosing her to be leader before they go on stage. he follows his team out on stage. as their team introduced themselves (“Hello we’re 장미와 가시 ! We’ll be performing bad boy by red velvet!”) , he could hear a loud go sungyeol oppa. oh god, he could just tell that was jaehwan. it made him happy though and he couldn’t keep a smile off his face for long. they took their positions, with their backs to the audience.
once the music started thoug, it was like a switch of sorts flipped on. despite being in the back, sungyeol managed to shine regardless. there was something to be said about being really tall. it was easy to slide into the whole badass mindset. he pulled the dance moves off easily, since they weren’t too hard and dancing was his second performance skill. when it came to his turn to sing, he sang with a newfound confidence.

it was like a weight was lifted off his shoulders this week. he made all the rightdance moves and took his position in the formation for the chorus that they would sing all together. their chemistry was actually pretty decent, since in sungyeols opinion, they managed to sense each other fairly well, moving in near sync.

In the chorus he did have a line with Soojin, singing the first two lines of shijakalkke bad boy down and the first wave of whoa whoa , before hesang with soojin. it was a nice throwback to their first performance as a team.

he didn’t feel any nerves and that earlier feeling of wanting to throw up had vanished deep away. he sang his lines clearly, eager to show off all talent.

he didn’t have a lot of individual lines, so whenever he wasn’t singing, he was serving face. Extreme concentration and focus with a firece gaze. his kurt Cobain nirvana grunge aesthetic was in perfect realm with bad boy. then the chorus hit again and he had a few adlibs which he nailed quite well.
