     there's something about being able to perform with a group that nayeon absolutely loves, multiple people working together with strong determination and the will to succeed providing to be driving forces. she's always been a people person, someone who loved to share ideas, collaborate whenever given the chance, and simply have a good time while doing something she enjoyed.

     evaluations for this month prove to fall in her favor, then, the moment she understands she can work with trainees outside of kt. don't get her wrong, she adored her fellow label trainees, bonds having strengthened and morphing into new, wonderful friendships ( something she was so grateful for ), but when one was made to work with the same people for months on end without a little variety, it was easy to fall into familiar patterns— it was easy to get comfortable and stop pushing yourself.

     after letting herself stay stuck in her mind up until she'd gotten signed, nayeon no longer wanted herself to stay stagnant. those days were over, and while she still might hold some of that familiar timidness deep in her eyes, she would no longer let it hold her back from trying new things. so, when she's approached by yerim, the prospect of working together for the month alongside another trainee named somi, the sweetest girl who nayeon immediately found herself adoring one their first meeting had happened, the oldest of the trio said yes in a heartbeat.

     aside from wanting something fresh, nayeon had missed the purple-haired girl ( it was not long after agreeing to their group that nayeon vows she'll never waste the opportunity to reach out to friends signed to other labels if the chance to work with one another ever presented itself ).

     nayeon silently comes to realize as they work together, japanese, and even some english in her case, rolling off the tongue tentatively in the hopes of doing their chosen song justice ( it was the perfect choice for them, if she was being honest, with a feeling that was light and pure fun. she was sure they'd ace it ), that as the oldest of the three, she needs to show she can be relied on— that, if there was any trouble in learning choreography, pronunciation, if vocal lines in general, she should be there to provide all the support and help she could. it's a role she takes to without fail, one she's used to in a different setting, but it comes easily as if it were second nature.

     for her, the ever nurturing soul she was, maybe it was second nature.

     it makes her happy, being able to help others, and receiving that very same help back in return from the younger two, their knowledge in english an incredible help in making sure not only her japanese lines were pronounced correctly, but her english was as well.

     by the time their set to showcase their performance for evaluations, nayeon feels like they're more than ready— aside from the efforts they'd taken to make sure their vocals would be good, their pronunciations well, they'd also taken the time to learn a simple choreography to go along with the song, something just as sweet as the music itself, and nayeon couldn't be any more proud of them.

     it's with animated smiles, fluid movements, and steady vocals that nayeon performs, her joy evident by the way her eyes seem to shine and cheeks flush with pink. she's happy, their positive attitudes shining through as they finish strongly, and it's all nayeon can do to stop herself from squeezing the life out of the two younger girls as she takes them both into a hug once they're done.

     "you two were great!" her voice is warm, a large smile on display, front teeth glowing under the lights. "now, let's celebrate!"

god knows why yujin’s mother buys her a cake to celebrate her becoming a trainee—a week late, at that. the dessert of chocolate and vanilla is way too big for just the girl herself, and more than half the cake remains in their freezer for over two days now. 

yujin’s had enough, though, and decides to pack up a couple of slices into her bag for the day. a dry ice packet provided by her father is stuffed into the container as well, keeping the cake from melting in the heat. makes her back really chilly, the girl notes in amusement as her backpack is cool against her body. it’s probably too much to eat just on her own, so she plans on sharing with a fellow trainee—which is where somi comes in. 

being the first trainee she sees upon entering the building, yujin waves her down in excitement, already slipping her backpack off her shoulders. “unni! are you hungry? peckish at all?” her voice sounds like she’s in a cf. “want some cake? i brought some extra and i really need someone to eat it with before it melts. like, right now, if possible!” their schedule doesn’t start for a bit, at least. “it’ll be good energy for training, trust!”

trial and error

the evaluation for the month of may has been announced for everyone, and the first week of training for said month was kicking him in the ass. see, prior to two weeks ago, hyunjoon didn’t even know trainees did evaluations every month. prior to two weeks ago he wasn’t a trainee, and two weeks was not enough time to fully situate into being a trainee--in his opinion. 

it’s not that hyunjoon isn’t use to long hours of training, or dancing till his legs feel like they want to fall off of him--but there’s something different from school and orion dance practices. maybe it’s the new enviroment? maybe it’s the different in who’s teaching him--who’s directing the training. maybe it’s the pressure that’s been thrown on him being so young and the winner of the triple thread challenge. or the fact that he doesn’t have his best friend here with him when he’s so use to always having her around. so many factors that could go into play as to why he feels half like a zombie and it’s only been a week into the month. 

said zombie finds himself pouting, visibly, as he makes his way over to another trainee. someone he knows and is comfortable with--he had forgotten she was apart of trc to be honest, but he’s so glad she is, another familiar face in the sea of unknown. “noona...” he starts, a touch of a whine to his voice. “have you figured anything out for this... evaluation?” with only two weeks of being a trainee, hyunjoon has learned to swallow his own pride and ask for help.

even though she’s already been to the new royal building more than once with two different people, jei still couldn’t say no when somi gave her the puppy dog stare.  considering their free time is slim to none with the schedules at trc, it’s easier for them to go on a weekend considering they get out much earlier than other companies.  at least it’s still daylight when they walk through the doors of royal’s (  now familiar  ) new building.  

jei chances a glance at somi, making sure that she doesn’t get lost amongst the crowd of people and like the daylight that shines outside, she can see the sparkle in her eyes.  jei tucks a loose strand of hair behind her ear, trying to see what caught the younger girl’s eye but there’s so much around that she’s not quite sure what it is exactly  -  so she chances a guess.  “ did you want something from the merchandise table ..? i can get it for you.”

April Evaluation ||  

             Kard - Oh Na Na (w/ Gray, Somi, Soojin, and Minhee) (lyrics) 

When the evaluation was announced, Minhyuk wanted to work with Gray again, since they were the rapper duo of KT. The ignored duo of the company but it was fine. Minhyuk had decided that any attention that he got was great. The SSKT cf was the last straw for him since as an actor with years of expereince and not being chosen for that, minhyuk was angrier than anything else. So, he decided that if he wasn’t allowed to show off his acting chops, he’d show off his rapping chops. It was nice working with Gray again and they even got some of the girls into their team, Somi, Soojin and Minhee. It was great seeing his friends again, and Minhyuk had fun during this whole evaluation. 

Minhee and him had managed to play a prank on Gray (convince him that they were dating hahaha. ah good times). Minhyuk liked that and then obviously Soojin and Somi who were good as well. He could see why the girls were signed from the mgas. Like they both had some raw talent. When the performance day came it was easy to dance and rap. The dance was fairly easy and his skills were enough to pull it off. Of course, they were surrounded by seven expensive cameras, so Minhyuk felt right at home. He loved being surrounded by spotlights and cameras. It was just that whole feeling. 

He rapped his part, exuding his usual style and swag that he had. it was a fun time, that was the main goal of this eval: just have fun. they were all friends andminhyuk was on a perfomance high casually seducing each camera when he was ithe front while rapping.

Then the girls took their spots and then Gray. Minhyuk always had such a blast watching Gray rap because he had a certain swag that minhyuk couldn’t even hold a candle to even match. it was just all good fun for him. after the hell anger that was most of March, minhyuk was kind of happy now. After Minhee sang a bit, they finished their perfomance and they were told to stay while everyone left. 

Here everything came crashing down. Literally. One by one the cameras fell as the door closed and Minhyuk, kind of already low patience, just took a deep breath to calm himself down. The level of annoyance. He reached into his pocket and as the trainers came back in yelling about the destruction of expensive equipment and how they were going to pay, minhyuk simply pulled out the checkbook. “how much?” he asked, slightly annoyed that he had to deal with this at the end of the day. obviously, mr.chaebol would pay. Like, seven cameras (probably about a 100K or less), that was just pocket change to how much the corporation made in a month. 

honestly this was so upsetting and of course, they were getting punished but they were ;ed into an auditorium and minhyuk sat there arms crossed, already annoyed. but a few moments later, it was revaled that it was all a prank. minhyuk took another deep breath and walked out. “i’m gonna need a hard drink after this,” he said. 

Sneaking Away

Sejeong, while excited about her upcoming debut with K.arma, had been missing something in her life lately, and that thing was her time that she had been missing with her friend, Somi.  The two had spent so much time together up before the final group of K.arma had been decided.  She wished that Somi had made it into the lineup as well, but sadly it had not been in the cards.

She had plans to correct the fact that they had not spent enough time together recently, so she was going to try her best to make it happen.  She moved into the cafeteria, spotting her friend just about to sit down.  She quickly hurried over to her, a sly grin on her face. With that, she produced a container, carefully slipping the younger’s food into it and closing the lid, then offered Somi her hand.  “Come with me if you want to live~” she punctuated this with a wink, waiting for her to grab her hand and then she’d pull her out the door.

The bag of sweets had been secured from his hiding spot, mentally counting out each of the lollipops and checking their flavours when he made his way to where his group had been practising for evaluation. They were coming together nicely, at least, that’s what he thought, and they worked hard every session, getting better with each practice they had together. Seokwoo grinned to himself as he pushed open the door to the room, only to falter when he saw only one of his group remained. This was why he was never good at surprises, they never worked out for him -- he should have told everyone to wait. His nose crinkled, bottom lip jutting out as he realised his silly mistake with handling this. They would have stayed if he told them he was coming back with sweets!

“Did they leave already, Somi?” Seokwoo asked, glancing around the empty spaces that his group mates had been when he left, promising he’d be back in a few minutes. It was a rhetorical question, one that he had the answer for, but was hopeful for something else.

His gaze fell down into the bag of sweets, then lifted back to the lone girl. 

It doesn’t take long to close the space towards the drumset, soon holding out the brown paper bag which was to hide the contents. A purposeful decision after he realised carrying around the original bag, brightly coloured and labelled with the sugar content, would make him an easy target for the coaches. “Do you like lollipops, Somi? These are my ‘after-practice’ lollipops! I have them, after practice. Especially when I’ve worked hard. They’re good flavours!” Seokwoo explained, flashing a grin at her and then remembering the others, smile crumpling at the edges and his shoulders sinking. “I was going to share them with everyone...”

Jongsuk often spontaneously decides on random dances that he does randomly in public or in the trc hallways. Obviously, he has no shame or even loyalty. He often does Chi Chi dances. Today, he siwtches it up, and casually goes to lunch dancing Tell Me by HAM. the song is just too much fun and with his long lanky body looks ridiculous. he kind of totally zones out as he’s dancing in the lobby. he isn’t at home, so this is weird. like always. like extremely weird. jongsuk doesn’t care. his image is long gone. 

he sings along to the music in his earbuds and just keeps dancing, stopping only when he feels eyes on him. “hello!” he says, with a grin. 

which trc trainees/karma members are you closest to?

a smile forms, enthused that she’s given the opportunity to talk about a few of her favourite people. “in karma, i think i’m getting a lot closer to doyeon. we’ve been practicing a lot lately and i’ve shared with her things i’ve never had the chance to properly talk about to anyone before. i trust her a lot and i think that our friendship will only grow from here! of course i’m also close to sohee unnie and yubin unnie as i’ve been trainees with them the longest out of all the other girls. they’re the reliable unnies i will always look up to no matter what. ness unnie too! our leader who i love dearly and whom i’m happy to say i can run to whenever i’m having troubles. as for sejeong unnie and sana, we’re working on becoming closer now and i’m so excited to see what will come of it in the future!” it was a long response but she’s happy to have mentioned everyone.

“as for trc trainees, i would say i’m closest to somi, sowon unnie, yuta oppa, and chanyeol oppa.” she smiles. “somi and i have gotten very close because of the debut project and she’s easily one of my favourite people ever. we’re very similar in personalities and i love that so much about us! sowon unnie is someone that i have a lot of respect for and someone i admire. i’m still sad i can’t debut with her because i thought for sure she’d be with me for this one.” the frown disappears as quickly as it came. “yuta oppa and i have gotten close because of bananas.” she laughs a little. “but for real, i admire his strength and his bravery a lot! lastly, chanyeol oppa and i became close because he takes me out to yummy food places and plays radio dj with me. he seems like a silly guy but he’s actually very reliable!”

When it happened, GRAY had turned his back to the cameras. A shattering sound filled the room and he whirled around to see if anyone had injured themselves. Soojin who seemed to be in closest proximity had jumped aside, avoiding the glass shards. When he saw his team mates being unharmed, the rapper let out a sigh of relief, before looking at everyone's facial expression, Somi was holding onto the other girls' arms. They seemed to be as shocked as him, so he assumed that none of them knew what was going on or how things had turned out like this.

Instinctively GRAY stepped in front of the others, when the trainers came running in, yelling at them. Of course they would be mad, the equipment was probably worth a car and now it was a pile of useless fragments on the ground. Minhee suddenly started to cry, and the rapper swallowed. He disliked seeing one of his close friends crying.

He heard one of his group members trying to tell the trainers that the door fell and that the caused impact was at fault for the cameras that had fallen like dominos. But the trainers ignored the statement, instead told them to follow into a different room, where other trainees already waited. Probably for the penalty. "If you need to punish someone, then punish me. The other's are not at fault." He wasn't exactly guilty as well, but in this case he didn't see a way out. GRAY wasn't the leader type, yet he felt responsible for the mess as he represented the oldest among them. His fellow trainees still had room to grow, while his was limited. If there were bad consequences waiting for them, then it would be better to take upon them himself to protect them.

Surprisingly Minhyuk came forward as well, pulling out his black card he had seen a few times before. In hope that would be the solution to their problem, GRAY turned to the trainers whose expression turned from mad to laughing ones. The group of trainees was confused. He looked over to Soojin and Somi, then to Minhyuk and Minhee. The relief slowly drizzled onto him and GRAY felt the tension fading from his body. It was just a april's fool prank.

April  Evaluation. KARD Oh Na Na. The Hidden Card.

Another month, another evaluation. It was team up with some familiar faces to deliver a wonderful performance for the trainers once again. This time it is to test their abilities to find the camera and work it basically.  The majority of this performance, Minhee was basically in the background since she was the hidden card, she does have her time to shine towards the end but right now it is Minhyuk, Gray, Somin & Soojin in the glory. Like she expected they really were amazing performers, Minhee always put on a happy expression while she dances along to the song. In truth, she felt quite exposed since was doing more dancing than singing in this, she has improved a lot in the dance area but she was no main dancer at all. The trainee just made sure she kept the cute expressions on the face never appear bored but then again how could she look bored when she surrounded with beautiful talented people? It was quite interesting to see the dance pairings too, Soojin & Gray then Minhyuk & Somi. It kinda funny, the tall people stay together then small people stay together. Visually wise, they matched well together meanwhile Minhee was just that one single among the couples which she didn’t really mind so much. 

Especially when gets her own little solo part all to herself as she stood in the middle so she putting herself in her singing to make her small part very memorable. Minhee’s sweet sounding voice filled the air while she does gentle hand movements as look at the camera if she singing to the cameraman asking them to love her, miss me & be her man before stepping back once again into the dance routine which mainly rolling & shaking her hips to the rhythm. In truth, it was quite fun dance to do even though she did feel like little silly popping her booty out from time to time. Minhee doesn’t mind doing sexy dance routines but it can still quite embarrassing especially when done in front of friends ( even though they would never judge or care about it honestly ) Overall, she enjoyed the performance thoroughly and she would happy to do it all over again.  

JUNE 2019 EVALUATION :: AHN YUJIN

after the initial reveal of the theme of the month, yujin’s allowed a breath of fresh air as she’s finally back in her element. not to say she hasn’t been enjoying actually training her skills, but being silly and entertaining comes much more naturally. 

such as the current situation, in which she finds herself the star of one of her absolutely favourite shows. anyone from her generation will attest, the nametag ripping game stands legendary among the masses. yujin’s only dreamed of participating in one for realsies, and now? well, well, well...

it’s a dream come true.

“changmin...you can trust me!” yujin tilts her head innocently even as she approaches the boy at a steady pace. “how long have we known each other— hey! wait!” her voice bursts out in laughter as she takes off running after him, long legs finally coming in use. 

her many years of track meets? rewarded, as she almost catches up to the boy in their sprint down the hallway, but as they turn the corner, she runs straight into one of the unfamiliar trainees that changmin had somehow slipped past. “oh. uh—sorry, but i gotta jet!” she excuses herself before the man can target her for elimination, and thankfully, he doesn’t seem to give chase.

though many people (namely, jinsoul, hyunjoon, and somi), have eluded her so far, her stamina lasts her for longer than she expects. she suspects it’s partly the adrenaline keeping her pumped and ready to go at the drop of a hat. she’s already managed to snag two other nametags from random faces in the building, but there’s no reason to stop there. might as well go for three— no, five! heck, why not go for all of them?

and that’s when she runs into seungjoon, poor, unsuspecting little seungjoon. it takes almost no effort to sneak up behind him and rip off his nametag in one swift motion, the action now familiar and unforgiving. “sorry,” she shrugs apologetically, unable to hide her smile. “this is probably one of the only things i’ll be good at here so— let me have this one,” she tries to make it up to him with an excuse, but it proves fruitless as he walks away, betrayed. a sigh leaves her lips.

eventually, she manages to fail victim to her legs giving out a superior competitor right after securing her final nametag, and she’s exiled to the gym to think about what she’s done. no regrets, though, she thinks proudly on her walk towards said location, but her victims greet her with less-than-happy glances. maybe part of her feels bad for having eliminated them, but she’ll find a way to make it up to them somehow. 

who are you closest to among the trc trainees?

“aren’t i close to a lot of them?” ( ‘ – he happily queries, letting out a chuckle and shrugging his shoulders. in his mind, he was close to them all for different reasons. each one played a part in his social circle and fulfilled some part of his happiness in trc. still, he purses his lips and hums for a second. ) “sowon noona, she listens to my problems a lot. she helped me a lot through last year. and joy sunbae, she supported me when i came back from suspension. we share an inside joke about banana’s.” ( ‘ – he crinkles his nose, thinking of how the two girls had given him some stability when he returned to trc, and offered him comfort. ) “somi is really fun to hang out with, she knows about who my parents are and who i was in japan. she knows some of my secrets, that no one else in trc knows. and jongsukkie hyung, he’s someone who can give me advice about how to do sns things, and he knows a lot about being a trainee.” ( ‘ – his brows raise, scratching his nape and grins, eyes crinkling in their corners and shrugging his shoulders. ) “and then there’s sicheng. my soulmate, and chanyeol, who was there when i was in jeju and insults my chopping abilities, like a wife does. only a wife would insult how you cut up carrots.”

island adventure ;

location: jeju island

running into doyeon was like a breath of fresh air. for some reason she could never find either of them in seocho. they evaded her every single visit for the last two months. she never understood how they managed to. chungha hadn’t been able to even see them.

all of the sneakiness aside, they were finally in the same building which means she could go about seeing both of them. the staff seemed to be too busy to care so it was like a free day off for all of them. she was going to meet up with meiqi later for some much earned dinner. the only thing missing from her day was her giant baby.

she had sent somi a text that she was in jeju and that she had ran into doyeon in the hotel. she had also said she was outside a certain room number which doyeon had told her was down the hall from her shared room with somi anyways. so chungha stayed put, awaiting the arrival of somi, whom she hadn’t seen since she left the mgas.

the intense cold weather is an attribute of the beautiful city of seoul she has yet to grow to, she's witnessed intense humidity with scorching temperatures but not the type of climate that seoul has in the summer. at this time, australia would be a solid warm and just the right weather to go outside and enjoy a sunbath. this has convinced her that she should head to the cafe to grab quick hot cocoa to settle herself in for some comfort!

is there anything else better in this world besides a mug of hot cocoa with some marshmallows and a soft biscuit? once she’s told her order to the cashier, hears her name being called out to pick up her order from the counter and then finds a seat in no time, she’s in an awfully good mood thanks to the delicious foods.

“thank you, amaterasu.” she says in english, softly speaking, quiet to the point that the public ears can’t hear her low voice. she’s got her eyes on the food but suddenly, they’re pinned on the sight of a younger girl who’s strong physical features resemble her childhood friend from the past that she lost ties to.
