Sebastian had finally won a race after what felt like horrible race after horrible race. You were tasked with handling the driver in P1 both yesterday and today as Britta has suddenly come down with the stomach bug - if someone asked you, you said she was sick of Sebastian, who would just laugh at your horrible joke.
He was in the driver's room when you came in, changing for press. "Y/n, is that you?" he calls, back turned to you.
"Unfortunately," you yawned, leaning on the wall.
Seb turns, shirtless and his shorts hung low off his hips. "Am I boring you? Was this not an entertaining show?" He gestures to himself and you laugh, always shocked by how full of himself he was.
"You cocky bastard," you mumbled to yourself and Seb's head tilts, "What's that? You want my cock?"
You look at him, shocked at his accusation. Was he wrong? No, you needed him like a flower needed sun and water but you couldn't say yes to him.
"Shut up, Sebastian."
The man pressed a hand to his chest, "full name, y/n? You wound me, darling." He says as he walks over to you and your back is stuck to the wall, you're suddenly unable to move and he's inches from your face.
Your eyes meet his, "stop that."
Sebastian moves closer, "stop what?"
"That- stop looking at me like that."
"Like what, y/n?"
"Like you wanna fuck me." You laughed, hoping to defuse the tension but nothing.
Seb's lips are over yours, if you move even an inch, you'd kiss him. His hand rested on your thigh, fingers dragging up your bare skin, under the hem of your bright red skirt.
"C'mon y/n, you know you want me."
You did, you wanted him so bad but you couldn't give - oh fuck it.
You leaned in, about to kiss him when Seb pulled away from you. "We're gonna be late for press, y/n. Isn't it your job to keep me on schedule?"
"Fuck you Sebastian," you huffed, walking out of the room cheeks as red as the car in the garage.

Really tired of streaming services making absolute banger animated TV shows for adults, never advertising them, then canceling then because no one watches them, so I'm taking it upon myself to share some of the ones I've watched recently with the hope other people will hear about them for the first time and give them a shot.

Blue Eye Samurai
"A master of the sword lives life in disguise while seeking revenge in Edo-period Japan."
Probably one of my favorite animated shows of all time. Mizu, arguably one of the best sword masters in this time period, goes on a quest to eliminate four white men living in Japan, one of which is Mizu's father. The show focuses heavily on how factors outside of your control, such as race and gender, impact how others view you and how you view yourself.
Watch if you are a fan of: Complicated characters/relationships, revenge quests, gore, complicated relationships with gender and race, and absolute badass characters.
Where to Watch: Netflix
Undone
"After 28-year-old Alma nearly dies in a car accident, she finds that she has a new relationship with time; she develops this newfound relationship to find out the truth about her father's death."
Undone focuses on difficult relationships with family, including how your parents can have profound effects on you even after they're gone, and how to deal with grief. That, plus the added chaos of being able to travel through time.
Watch if you are a fan of: character studies, shows dealing with grief, time travel, trying to rewrite fate.
Where to watch: Prime
Scavengers Reign
"The crew of a damaged deep space freighter are stranded on a beautiful but dangerous planet."
A mix between sci-fi and horror, this show focuses on the crew of a crashed spaceship. Each (living) crew member of the ship escaped in pods, scattering them across the planet. They must fight to survive and make their way back to their ship on a planet featuring some of the most fucked up creatures I've ever seen.
Watch if you like: sci-fi, isolationist horror, body horror, creature features
Where to watch: At the moment, Max. As of May 31st, Netflix. Max canceled the show (even though it has a 100% rating 🙃). Netflix may make a season 2 depending on how many people watch it in the first few weeks after it comes to Netflix.
Harley Quinn
"The newly single Harley Quinn sets off to make it on her own as the criminal queenpin in Gotham City."
Honestly I was feeling a bit burnt out on super hero shows, but this one felt like a breath of fresh air. It follows Harley as steps out from the shadow of the Joker, no longer being one of his henchmen and struggling to find her identity as a single, independent villain.
Watch if you like: Superhero/villain shows, stories that focus on blurred lines instead of a clear distinction between good and evil.
Where to Watch: Max
Primal
"At the dawn of evolution, a caveman and a dinosaur on the brink of extinction bond over unfortunate tragedies and become each other's only hope of survival in a treacherous world."
This show is super unique in that there's basically no dialogue, but it still finds a way to display an absolutely gutwrenching relationship between two parents of different species going through shared grief.
Watch if you like: Brutality, heavily visual story telling, prehistoric stories, and tales of overcoming.
Where to Watch: Hulu
Love Death and Robots
"This collection of animated short stories spans several genres, including science fiction, fantasy, horror and comedy. World-class animation creators bring captivating stories to life in the form of a unique and visceral viewing experience. The animated anthology series includes tales that explore alternate histories, life for robots in a post-apocalyptic city and a plot for world domination by super-intelligent yogurt."
I love this show because you never have any clue what to expect. A siren living in a river falling for a deaf knight? An artist painting intergalactic art pieces? Three robots going on a field trip through the apocalypse to visit old human historical sites? You never know, but there's going to be love, death, and/or robots in it. Each episode varies wildly, so I'd recommend watching at least a few to get a taste for it, as some will resonate more strongly than others.

could you explain the mclaren reputation era please I missed it
ok well i don't really understand it entirely so bear with me here as i fumble through this.
essentially yesterday mclaren archived (deleted?) every single one of their instagram posts (and there were Thousands) except for this kind of twist trap esque video of lando, oscar and their car with the tagline "whatever it takes" like the imagine dragons song, or perhaps a 15 year old boy posting selfies of himself in the gym.
this of course is exactly what taylor swift did however many years ago right before she dropped her reputation album, archived every single one of her instagram posts except for these three videos of a snake slithering around and i don't remember what the words were associated with it but it was foreshadowing her reputation album. this was the album that she released directly after she got a whole lot of shit for her 1989 tour, took basically 2 years off and came back with some s tier bangers about how basically she didnt really care what the media thought of her, but she was reinventing herself (remember the "im sorry, the old taylor can't come to the phone right now, why? oh! cause she's dead!" meme" but essentially, it was her comeback after awhile away.
mclaren, as we know, has not won a championship since 2008 with sir lewis hamilton. their driver line up, lando norris and oscar piastri, is the youngest pairing of drivers on the grid (lando is 24, oscar is 22) and while the 2023 season for them started off absolutely terribly (their car fucking sucked) they were able to do some major upgrades throughout the season and turned it around by the silverstone race (just under halfway through the year). from silverstone on (13 races total) mclaren finished in the top 3 nine times (with both oscar and lando on the podium at the qatar and japan races) and were consistently in the points. oscar also won the sprint race in qatar. and lando had i think 17 overtakes at the mexico race, starting 19 and ending 5th. which is kind of incredible. in a season of absolute red bull domination (lets remember that a red bull driver won ever race except for the singapore race, which carlos won with the help of lando) they were consistently challenging them and there was one time in texas (i think?) where lando almost was able to overtake max.
so yes, red bull is definitely the favored team at the moment and is coming off of quite possibly the best season they've ever had. however. mclaren have some distinct advantages going into the 2024 season:
they do not have to worry about silly season. as we know, 14 drivers have contracts ending at the end of 2024 which means the absolute mad rush to resign and offer contracts across basically every team. redbull is basically guaranteed to not resign checo and might even swap him for daniel ricciardo halfway through the season whereas lands contract with mclaren ends in 2025 and oscars ends in 2026. mclaren can spend all of their time worrying about the car and the drivers rather than who they are signing.
oscar piastri. oscar just finished his rookie season (and previously won the f2 and f3 championships and won rookie of the year this year). in terms of rookie years he had an outstanding one. people compared him to lewis hamilton's rookie year. as a refresher, lewis hamiltons rookie year was in 2007 (also at mclaren) and he won his first championship in 2008. oscar is the first rookie since lewis hamilton to get multiple podiums and win something in his rookie year. expectations are running high here.
lando norris's expiring contract. as we know lando has one more confirmed year with mclaren. cel of mclaren zak brown has announced that they want to extend landos contract with mclaren, but, hes starting to get really really good, which means that a top team like red bull or mercedes might also try to get him as a driver. this is the year for mclaren to prove to lando that they can give him what he wants (which is to win a race. in his 5 years of formula 1 he hasn't won anything. and once he starts winning then hes going to want to win a championship. but. there is max verstappen to contend with). so their absolute balls to the wall tactic could work pretty well for them here. pre season testing doesnt start for over another month and they are already clearly locked in to the 2024 season.
lando and oscar actually get along. sure, formula 1 is an individual sport, but there is the drivers championship (for the individual driver) and the constructors championship (for the team with the most points). so they do have to work together. drivers not working together in the past has led to some ... undesirable results for teams (the great brocedes civil war of nico rosberg and lewis hamilton that ultimately resulted in nico retiring after he won his first championship, whatever the hell was going with max and daniel for part of the 2018 season, the french civil war at alpine between pierre gasley and esteban ocon) they are also both very consistent drivers. neither are incredibly crash prone and seem quite willing to work together on the track to optimize results.
yes they do also have disadvantages. lando has never won a race, they only have one pole position between them (lando in russia in 2021) and they're not a red bull. clearly they're the underdog in the situation. but they did finish fourth in the constructors championship in 2023 ("best of the rest") (and after basically getting next to no points for the first several races on account of the fact that their car was shit) behind ferrari, mercedes, and red bull. they're coming for the top 3 and honestly it could be their season to lose.
if ferrari doesnt change their strategy approach then they could be out of a shot at top 3. also ferrari have to deal with the nightmare of resigning both of their drivers (or finding new ones). merc and red bull will both be giving it their all (lewis hamilton really really wants to win his 8th world championship before he retires and max is well. max.) but if mclaren has a competitive car from the start of the season and doesnt have to play catch up for the first several races, then they could easily finish in the top 3.
also they released their livery today? which really confuses me (is that different than the car unveiling? what is going on someone mansplain it to me please)

do you have any headcanons on texahoma or NY/NJ/CA? (or opinions on them?)
also here's two headcanons of my own:
Oklahoma sometimes lets Texas brush his hair since he knows how much Texas loves it. Texas likes to run his hands through it, play with it, and style it when Oklahoma lets him. His hands are pretty roughed up (scars, burns, etc) from wars/Mexico/farm work so Oklahoma's soft hair feels nice on his rough hands.
New York, California, and New Jersey go skateboarding together a lot. New Jersey and California saw New York eyeing a rat stuffed animal at a store and instead of being smart and just paying for it, they stole it for him. New York yelled at them for being stupid (he treasures it and keeps it next to his bed)

OPINION: I love this ship so much! I love how they have an enemies dynamic that has the potential to turn into a love story (some enemy dynamics can be toxic to the point a potential romance is out the window, but that's not the case here). To me, they have a married couple vibe where they bicker over the smallest stuff but wouldn't hesitate to comfort each other when needed. "Must be exhausting thinkin' about me all day, huh?" is a banger line, and it defines their romantic tension to me. They're so awesome :D
(also I reside in Texas, and I can confirm that many of my Texan fellas dislike Oklahoma bc there's nothing much to do there as opposed to Texas & Oklahomans hate Texans bc they think Texans are mean, but honestly I wouldn't call it full hate. Just a rivalry)
YOUR HEADCANON: I love your hc for them! Oklahoma definitely has soft long hair that he maintains in the best way he can (even if the hair products can be expensive) and Texas definitely knows how to treat hair :D That's such a sweet hc and definitely one of my favorites I've heard.
-Texas has taken Oklahoma to an HEB before and has raced with him to get every single item on their grocery list. Texas knew that Okie would lose bc Texas knows this HEB like the back of his hand, but to his own surprise, he let himself walk through the aisles slower than he usually does so he could see Okie be proud of himself when he gets all the items first. It worked. Okie bragged like there was no tomorrow but Texas wouldn't dare change the happiness Okie felt.
-They go to HEB every weekend. They don't even shop there sometimes, they just roam around the store and somehow entertain each other as they do so. "Remember that time you tried to microwave this cake mix?" "I did that so I could poison you, idiot." "Mhmm.."
-Oklahoma and Texas go tornado watching in Okie's state. They're not scared though since Okie's used to it and Texas practically goes hurricane watching with Loui and Florida. One time they blacked out from hitting their head in their shaky car when it caught into the tornado, and Texas was the one who managed to wake up first and get them home safe.
-Texas cooks for Oklahoma & Oklahoma chooses the outfits that Texas wears. Big dude can't dress himself in something other than a button-up, old jeans, and cowboy boots, so Okie changes it up. Okie also validates Texas when Texas wants to wear something that's considered more feminine (dresses, skirts, crop tops, etc).
-Oklahoma humbles Texas. Big dude is super prideful and can sometimes forget to be humble, so Oklahoma never hesitates to humble him. Kind of like how Washington called Texas out ("Texas, you're killing jobs!" from Table News: Ida goes North, Texas goes Backward)
-Oklahoma and Texas both have scars, and occasionally, they caress each others' scars to tell each other that they'll love their scars just as much as they love every other part of each other. <3
-Louisiana and Arkansas have been their go-to when it comes to Okie & Texas' at-home dates. Louisiana cooks the food for the dinner and Arkansas sets the mood up with decorations and music.
-Loui and Pirate Kansas have also been one of the main reasons the 2 got together in the first place. Loui and Texas are best friends & Okie and Arkansas get along somewhat, and once Loui and Arkansas found out their best friends like each other, they got to planning. Florida has also joined in, and while neither Texas or Oklahoma wanna admit it, Flo's goofy wingmaning is another reason they got together.
-They had a heavy, angsty confession over in Texarkana (a city that's in TX, OK, and AR) that led to crying and a short trip to Buc-ees to feel better :D
-[this one is kind of suggestive] Before they got together (a.k.a when they were still rivals), Oklahoma dragged Texas out of Texas' little hut in the countryside and took him to see his state, saying, "Who said there's nothing to do here?" and Texas lowkey thought, I'd do you here if only you'd let me. Texas left Oklahoma still thinking that the state is far inferior than his though. Of course, Texas couldn't get the dirty remark out of his head, and that's when he realized that shoot, he likes Oklahoma.
-They like to listen to country music and ballads together and even sing on occasion. Since Texas knows so many languages, he knows ballads from all around the world and sings them to Oklahoma to put him to sleep (preferrably Spanish & Filipino love songs). Oklahoma also puts Texas to sleep except with folk songs or old stories.
California/New York/New Jersey
OPINION: Honestly, I'm not sure if I love it or if I'm neutral about it, but I know I don't hate it. I usually ship CaliYork or California/New Jersey separately and never really thought about putting the three into a poly relationship, but I've seen your take on the three and it's actually growing on me. My fav's still CaliYork, but I like these three goofballs together too. I need to read more stories on them though 😅
YOUR HEADCANON: Oh they definitely skateboard a lot together and are competitive when doing so. I betcha their clumsy selves have gotten injured before too :3 And the stuffed animal theft is beautiful, they'd do anything to see their bf York happy. Aww :3 (you have such a creative mind omg)
I don't have many headcanons on them, but here are a few that I have:
-They all ride motorcycles together. Sometimes New Jersey's the one that drives and Cal & York ride with him, and other times they each have their own bike and race each other in whatever road they please (they all agree that I-4 is a no)
-Jersey and York cook for California to make sure he is well-fed. They've tried to teach Cal how to cook, but they've all decided that it's better that he doesn't 😅
-They're all fashionable goofballs and have been mistaken as models once when they were walking through the streets of Hollywood. New York's fashion is either business-casual or punk, New Jersey's usually in shorts and a casual tee but the accessories make it stand out, and Cal changes his style a lot but usually is in a crop top w/ shorts or a designer fit. Despite all of them having different fashion tastes, they like to match outfits.
-They maintain a garden filled with their state flowers. When they all got together, New Jersey showed the other two his personal garden filled with violets and sunflowers (in courtesy of Kansas, whom I think Jersey likes to talk to sometimes), but as their relationship progressed, it slowly turned into a garden of violets, California poppies, and red roses.
-They all like to go to beaches in California to de-stress. Sometimes they go there at 3am just to avoid crowds and hear the waves, other times they go at noon to feel the sun as they swim in the waters. They always go home with a smile on their faces.
-They've driven in each of their states to see which state is the worst to drive in. California has traffic, New York's kinda disorganized, and Jersey has roads where you're doomed if you take a wrong exit. All of these roads trips have ended in arguments, but nothing violent because they all learned to communicate w/o violence.

Macau GP 70th Anniversary
YOU. YEAH YOU READING THIS. This is me trying to pursued you to go watch the Macau GP this weekend. This track is historic and legendary. And one of the most fun and dangerous street circuits (imo) with tight corners and varying elevations. It is still the oldest (active) street circuit that still holds F3 (+other races) and isn't part of the F1 World Championship (the other being New Zealand🤝)
Since it’s the 70th anniversary and they are holding two wholeass race weekends with a BANGER entry list this year (full list at the end of the post), so why not take a trip down memory lane and talk about some iconic races and drivers throughout the years. [LONG POST, just saying][Also, surprises underneath]
Macau Grand Prix, Guia Circuit (or Circuito da Guia)—a circuit that spans 6.120km, with different elevations over 30 meters top to bottom (in non-metric terms: 2 small pine trees, or 2 volleyball courts for all non-metric people out there👍). Top speed: 260km/h for an F3 car, which is already a handful. This circuit has had little to no changes since the beginning of its grand opening. While this track serves as a stepping stone for drivers, it remains an independent circuit and race of its own. Though still having an affiliate with the FIA.
Although the first race event began in 1954, they didn’t introduce F3 until 1983. Which they had a strong start for F3 with the likes of Ayrton Senna and Gerhard Berger, respectively taking first and third place.

A few years later; Eddie Irvine, Damon Hill, Jean Alesi also left their marks on this race track.
But the most iconic moment came in 1990. The battle of Schumacher vs Hakkinen. The beginning of their motor rivalry.

In 2003-2004, both Lewis and Nico took part, whilst Lewis took pole and they both showed great results in qualifying. Neither of them went on to podium in both years.
2005: baby Seb starting to shine through and took third at the main race, just behind Kubica

2009: Daniel, Valtteri, and Jules took the challenge. Jules started near the back end of the grid but was steady racing and finished 10th. Valtteri started 4th, had the opportunity to be on podium until he got a puncture on the last lap that saw him finish fifth. Daniel-not the best start- clipped the wall and punctured his left rear, carried on a little bit more until he crashed out of the race :( can’t find any video cuz apparently no one cared enough about 2009
2011: Valtteri’s third year in a row; the previous got him third place but this one he retired the car on lap 4 due to an accident. Kmag, da Costa, Carlos participated but all in all, half the grid retired in the end.

Bloop! 2014: a wild baby Max appears! Boy had good results in qualifying, placing him third, but in the quali race he lost control and crashed. Main race-7th. Nick Cassidy, Nicki Latifi, Antonio Giovinazzi, Alex Palou finished 3rd, 5th, 12th and 16th. Unfortunately, Antonio Fuoco and Estie Bestie retired :(

2016: we see the introduction of George Russell, Landon Norris, Callum Ilott, Guanyu Zhou and Ticktum (But we’re not gonna talk about him🤭). It was an okay race, António Félix da Costa took first (came 9th in the recent WEC👏) and Nikita crashed.
That year gave us baby Lando and baby George who took his first pole *surprise🎉*
2017: A fucking great racing year, Lando came second due to Habsburg and Sette Câmara crashing out in the final corner. It’s Mick’s first year, though not the best result but did manage to snatch the fastest lap 💨

2018: it was a scary ass race and I remember standing in front of the TV just watching this. Lisboa corner is famously know for a lot of accidents, Sophia Flörsch made contact with another that send her airborne and crashed into the barriers and fractured her vertebrae. Final standing: Mick-5th, Ilott-7th, Schwartzman-9th, Zhou-11th, Vesti-15th

3 years of absence and we are back! 2023!
This year there’s two whole weekends, from 11-12th November and 16-19th November. And they’ve a banger list of drivers like Bianca Bustamante for F4 and Richard Verschoor taking another stab at it.
Macau F4 race is happening on the 11-12th:
F4 is happening the week after on 16-19th
The FIA is streaming F3 on the YouTube channel (streaming f3 not f4🥲…go watch motor gp too it’s on the same day) but you could probably watch it on other streaming platforms too (you know the ones👀👀)
If you haven’t seen the Macau GP before…give it a go! It’s brilliant!
*side note: if Fernando or Lewis ever retires from f1 and have nothing else to do…I’d like to see them tackle this track (again for Lewis) maybe not f3, maybe something like GT cup or something. It would be verrrry interesting👀

as expected she thought it was weird, she called them “rave-y” she’s really anti me liking f1 because she thinks the drivers are ugly and there’s like, no effort into it. when i explained to her the basics of a race like p1-p20 and standings she went “that’s it? it’s just… race good enough to get to the big boy races and then race good enough to win the big boy races” but i don’t mind i like keeping them to myself
ur best friend kinda has a point because prior to the singapore gp, i kept thinking “whAt is the BIG deal abt this stupid f1 race it’s just two hours of cars racing in circles” then i walked into the williams showroom and saw alex and logan’s pics and i was immediately sold idk what to tell u
and then i ACTUALLY watched the race and i was like oh ok i guess it’s kinda cool

NEW MUSIC: Carmen Caska ~ To Be Plugged
NOTE: I originally posted this to AOTY, but thought I'd drop here as well
I have been really excited for this project, ever since it was first mentioned all the way back in 2019/2020.
Over the last few years, it has been relatively quiet on Caska’s front regarding their musical output; a couple demos here and there but otherwise not so much.
In 2020 there was “WHACK” - a more classically hip-hop styled track complete with chipmunk vocals and a real sense of Spaß (to appropriate a Brechtian term) in both Caska’s vocal delivery and lyrics as we learn about the artist’s personal convictions and how they navigate through the world.
In 2021 there was “220 - 2” an interesting listen that with hindsight, due to its pitch shifting and glitchy, yet serene drops, could be viewed as a forecast for the musical direction Caska was headed.
These aside, the last substantial offering Caska was the 2019 mixtape, “ARI”- a project that saw the artist take a dramatic leap forward from their early days of Acoustic-y Lofi Hip-hop (under the alias Toph, or Topshiba) into a world of more industrial/Alternative hip-hop. On “To Be Plugged” however, we see Caska take yet another step - this time incorporating flavours of hyper-pop and electronic music into the mix, yielding a more ambitious, confident and engaging listen.
Over this span we’ve also seen several artist name changes for this project, starting with Ari Mori, moving to Aari Mori finally arriving at Carmen Caska - a fact that is useful to note as they are the literal stages of Caska's devopment.
Context aside, the review begins below
The album opens with “through me” an electronic, shoegaze-y number that sets the sonic stage for what we are about to listen to. Lyrically, Caska establishes a recurring theme of snow - something that is referred to again later on the project. As a listener, you very much “descend” into the world of this project during it’s runtime and it definitely feels so beginning with this track.
“You will drop everything” is an uptempo track that could have fit in on “Ari” - not that this is a bad thing. Instrumentally, this song feels like you’re travelling in a race car, with bending synths, glitchy drums, and a roaring bass.
“Lil Hoe” - is an alternate version of what was the lead single titled “Gutted” released with an accompanying mv in 2020. Due to this song, or at least the idea for it being in the ether for so long relative to the rest of the tracks, I feel most attached to this one. Though I miss the clearer original’s lyrics, in particular section in the original with the lyrics “Made into an addict but I loved her” I appreciate this track for what it is, which at the end of the day is still a hyper-pop banger.
“Have Mercy” is probably one of my favourite songs off this album, there is a fantastic sense of progression throughout its run, the “This is like this many rings” part just goes HARD and I also love the line “all the angels have fallen”
“Last Dance” is an apocalypse party anthem, with fluttering/growling arpeggios - which echo Portishead’s “the rip”
On “Heart Ate Whole” Caska flexes their fantastic production talents - its just a marvel to listen to.
“Tear” is a powerful, yet serene stroll down memory lane, as Caska manages to express the feeling of growing up - I have already written a review for this so I won’t go on much longer- but I wanted to note that it is my thinking that the reference to snow on this record could be a symbol of purity, or innocence, which becomes more powerful considering its use on this particular song
“Kill Me now” - feels Jpegmafia influenced in the best way, especially with the gang vocal chops - there’s a great sense of balance between braggadocio and vulnerability, which reminds me specifically of Peggy’s song “Kenan vs Kel”.
“Valhalla” is another banger - nuff said.
The project ends on “East River”, which I think is one of Caska’s best penned songs. I LOVED the passage “What did he think about?/In those very last breaths before the air ran out/Was it someone/Who gave meaning to every bubble/Who made his heart more than a muscle”. Instrumentally, I liked the distorted guitars and the way the whole composition builds is immaculate. - A truly epic closer.
All in all, I believe that this project is very well conceptualised/executed. Fantastic production, Unique vocals, some decent to brilliant lyrics as well. Would highly recommend. My only critique is that the lyrics are still buried in the mix, of course this is in no small part a stylistic choice, however I still feel that it obfuscates what could otherwise make for a more engaging listen.
This also happened to release on my birthday, so thank you for the amazing gift and keep up the great work, Caska!

I chose to give my personal ratings of all 5 WoC films! I have four separate lists and I’ll give a small explanation as to why I rate it as such! After a convo with @sheriffs-ass I was convinced to post it here!
This will be a long post but it’s all worth it!
My rating Scale will be 1: Best, 5: Not the Worst but not the Best
I’ll list it in 4 catagories:
- Song Wise
- Soundtrack Wise
- Character Growth Wise
- Whole Film and How much I enjoyed it!
Song Wise:
Cars 3: Oh my god all the songs in this movie are absolutely bangers! My favorites especially are all of them! They are all so enjoyable to listen to and I find it unique that for this film, there were two separate soundtracks! One for the songs and another for the orchestra!
Tie between Cars & Planes Fire and Rescue: Both of these movies have great songs and I can’t chose just one! For Cars even if some of the songs aren’t exactly original ones from the movie, I do enjoy “Sh-Boom”, and “My Heart Would Know.” All the original songs for the movie are equally as incredible! The only one I’m not a fan of is “Real Gone.” I’m not sure why but I’m not a fan of that one. For Planes Fire and Rescue, I do really enjoy the songs the movie has to offer, especially “Still I Fly.” That song is truly inspiring and I recommend you listen to it if you haven’t!
Cars 2: I do enjoy the songs this movie has to offer! My 1 fav song from that movie is “Nobody’s Fool” and “Collision of Worlds”. They are both equally impressive and I do enjoy them!
Planes: These songs are lovely but the one I mainly listen to is “Nothing Can Stop Me Now”, because it’s catchy and I do enjoy it the most!
Soundtrack Wise:
Planes Fire and Rescue: I absolutely love this soundtrack! It is the best I have heard and every piece is so unique and recognizable! I listen to this soundtrack all the time and it’s so special to me! My favorite pieces have to come from the scenes with Dusty’s training, when the PPAA was dealing with the fire surrounding the park and when we first met Winnie and Harvey!
Cars 2: A while back it took me to realize that is is the only soundtrack of all 3 Cars films that don’t sound similar Orchestral wise and that’s what I love about it! Some pieces are about the spy moments in the film, others are about the racing and everything in between!
Cars 3: I was pretty happy to learn that Randy Newman came back to work on the soundtrack for the third movie and it does sound similar to the first movies soundtrack but everything fits so well and Some pieces are truly rememberable!
Cars: I especially love this soundtrack but I don’t listen to it as much. I don’t have much to say about it but it is enjoyable and I do like it. I have to say my favorite piece was from the scene in Radiator Springs as Doc was in the center of the town alone after everyone else has left. And as the lights were all shutting down. God it’s so emotional!
Planes: I do like this soundtrack and the orchestra absolutely hits but one minor gripe I have is that most pieces from the soundtrack sound pretty similar to one another so sometimes when I listen to the soundtrack from Spotify there are moments that I don’t even know if a piece has moved on or not. Again I love it but it sounds pretty similar at times.
Character Growth Wise:
Planes Fire and Rescue: Coming from Planes, We can see so much growth with so many characters! Dusty and Blade mainly! With Dusty at the start of the movie we see him at the highest of his racing career yet! After his gearbox was damaged, we can see that Dusty was adjusting thought this whole sudden change in his life that will affect his career and possibly his whole livelihood as we know it. As we go for with the film we can see him still adjusting with his firefighting training, and all this stress. The fact he probably can’t race anymore, the fact that he has to get certified for Propwash to be reopened, the fact that his gearbox will fail if he goes too far, and probably more! I do really like that this film achieved to make Dusty a more likable character then he was in the first movie! And Dusty here is a sympathetic and relatable character! We get to see him as a character from the first film and we get to see that character grow! And now to see him struggle along as he grows, is pretty well and in character to see! I believe that it kinda was reasonable that he didn’t tell anyone that his gearbox was failing that that in itself is a minor gripe of mine but it doesn’t bother me much!
(Continuing here) Now for Blade’s character development, we get to know about the kind of person he is. He’s strict but he cares for his team, as we see in this delayed storyboard I found from @penname-artist, thanks!
Here in this deleted storyboard we do see him have some sort of sympathy for his crew. This board came from the scene in the film when the PPAA left due to the big fire in the park. Man I wish we saw this in the final cut. (If you look at the link I hyphen, you should be able to look for it!)
But continuing forth, we also get a backstory for him as well. Thanks to the film we know that he was a tv star back in the day with his friend Nick “Looping” Lopez. Soon enough it was revealed that Nick died, Blade was there when it happened but he didn’t know what to do and watched his best friend die. And he thought his life was over too. But he came to Piston Peak, trained and for certified and saves life’s for real now. And this can be interpretation of pushing problems away. For example when we first met Cad properly he left the base replying with “He’s more famous then you Blazing Blade.” Only for Blade to push it away and leave as well. I got more examples but I believe that the point is pushed! I also enjoy that he was Dusty’s mentor as we also see his is a sort of a mentor figure to the rest of the PPAA crew!
2. Cars 3: With this movie I do enjoy the character development given but i really wish we got more. I mean they actually were able to make Lighting a sympathetic character this time! I do know we could’ve gotten more signs of character development but for this it came in the form of deleted scenes and content. I really wish we got more important and impactful development with both Cruz and Lightning in this movie like older versions of this movie was intended to be! If you want to know what I’m talking about watch this video! (I can’t link the video for some strange reason)
This video is of all the deleted content and although it provides a different version of this movie but it gives more character development then in the final version.
3. Cars: I do enjoy this movie and it’s story. The character development with both Lightning and Doc are lovely things to talk over! I do like that all 3 Cars movies have a figure in story of mentor figures! Lighting is the rookie in the Piston Cup who is some big famous hotshot and Doc was also a rookie in this time! Doc is one of the best mentor figures along with all the other ones! I do enjoy it and if you watched this film you’ll see!
4. Planes: I do really enjoy the character development but there feels very little to be honest. I do like what they has set up with Dusty and Skipper. The story is a simple I want to follow my dream story but I do like this. For Dusty I do like that he is a kind hearted character and the experiences he made all helped out his character development
5, Cars 2: I don’t have much to say, I might fix this soon but I don’t see much development at all in this movie even though it is one of my favorites.

👀 You should give me a run down on *checks notes* everything Cars related. Assuming I only remember like four events from all the movies combined. And that time the dude with the hitch was a spy.
You just opened a fucking HUGE can of worms, and now you gotta lie in it.
So we start off with Cars 1. I mean this in the best way possible, I am not telling you anything about the opening scene. The opening scene is the BEST scene in the ENTIRE FRANCHISE and if there is anything I want you to experience first-hand, it is that. Even after watching this movie a million times (which I may or may not have done), this scene still gets me hyped. Go watch it. (Also, the song is a fucking banger. Stream Real Gone by Sheryl Crow.)
Okay, and so here we're introduced to Strip Weathers, Chick Hicks, Lightning McQueen, and LMQ's main motivation.
Strip "The King" Weathers is planning to retire after this race, and he's kind of like the last of the elders left on the track, if that makes sense. He works as someone to give LMQ advise and be a rival to who is basically the primary antagonist of this movie.
Chick Hicks is the primary antagonist of this movie. He does not mind cheating to win, he is a fucking asshole to others, he has willfully almost committed manslaughter on like three separate occasions, and I hope he dies a million deaths.
Lightning McQueen is the main protagonist, okay? We all know this, this is a surprise to literally no one. He starts out as this cocky, full-of-himself asshole who would rather have fame than be a genuinely nice person. This changes later on through being in Radiator Springs, but that's how he starts off.
Anyway, from the scene I showed you, Chick starts a giant car pile up, Lightning makes it through, when they all go for a pit-stop, Lightning doesn't get new tires because he's a fucking idiot, while he's in the lead his tires pop, and there ends up being a three-way tie between Strip, Chick, and Lightning, but Lightning only managed to tie by the tip of his tongue. Literally.
This is revealed after Strip tries to give Lightning some advice but Lightning spaces out the entire time because he's imagining what it would be like to race for Dinoco. Big surprise, the winner of this race was supposedly going to be Dinoco's new Golden Boy! A tie-breaker race between Chick, Strip, and Lightning is scheduled to happen in California, but Lightning has to do a meeting with his sponsors, Rusteeze. He doesn't like the people at Rusteeze because he doesn't like rusty cars. Totally not racist, McQueen, totally not racist.
Anyway, McQueen tells Mack, his transporter, to pull an all-nighter to get to Cali, but then we get another fucking AWESOME music scene. LIFE IS A HIGHWAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY-
Then another really cool scene happens were Mack is falling asleep while driving and four hot rods show up and start fucking with him. Best scene in cinema history, I swear on my LIFE. Anyway, Lightning McQueen falls out the back of the trailer and ends up on the highway and speeds off, looking for the Interstate, but winds up in RADIATOR SPRINGS.
He, uh, he destroys the town, to put it simply. He then ends up being arrested and is taken to court the next morning. The person that takes him to the courthouse is Mater, who, get this, is a rusty tow truck. The judge ends up being Doc Hudson. (This is a surprise tool that will help us later!) Doc wants LMQ out of town but then Sally shows up, who LMQ confuses to be his lawyer, and Sally ends up getting Doc to force LMQ to fit their road.
Doc challenges LMQ to a race to get out of things, LMQ agrees, it's one lap around the butte, and LMQ loses because he can't drive on dirt. Not that important but two cars named Mini and Van (they're a couple) accidentally makes it to town. Lightning asks them for help and they just kind of run off, thinking he's insane.
Slowly but surely, the townspeople start to forgive him and he starts to grow as a person. (Doc gives him racing advice at some point but Lightning doesn't listen.) Because the road is looking so much better than it was before, the townspeople start fixing up their respective establishments. Lightning goes to Doc's clinic while looking for Sheriff so he can get his gas to finish up the road but Doc is doctoring on Sheriff so he leaves. He ends up finding Doc's garage, and, surprise, Doc is actually the Fabulous Hudson Hornet!! Lightning tells the town, they laugh, that's that. Lightning and Mater go tractor tipping and LMQ talks about what it would be like to work for Dinoco.
"No more rusty old cars-"
"What's wrong with rusty old cars?"
"....Well, not you, Mater. Other rusty old cars."
LIGHTNING MCQUEEN, DO YOU HEAR HOW RACIST THIS SOUNDS?!
Whatever, the tractors end up running through the town the next day, Lightning sees Doc driving, there's this big argument, Lightning finishes the road, buys something from every single towns person and fixes the lights that the town used to have. The lights were used to impress Sally because....there was a romance plot going on that I forgot to bring up. Honestly they just went on a drive to an abandoned restaurant and talked about what the town used to be and Sally offered him a room at the Cozy Cone Hotel, it really wasn't that much.
Lightning is forced to go to California because Doc called the media, Doc realizes that this wasn't best for everyone but was only best for him (just like how Lightning said that Doc hadn't done anything for anyone other than him in a while because he's lived in this town for decades and none of his friends knows who he actually is [part of the big argument]). Doc and the towns people go to the race as his pit crew.
Chick, oh my fucking God, CHICK, decides to ram into Strip and causes Strip to have a really bad crash. Lightning forefeits winning in order to help Strip, no one likes Chick anymore, Lightning is offered to work for Dinoco, he declines in favor of Rusteeze, and Lightning moves his base to Radiator Springs, therefore putting this long-abandoned town back on the map.
So that's the first movie, right? Now for me to get into analyzing different parts of this movie because I enjoy this far too much.
So, like, Doc ended up in Radiator Springs because he was forced to stop racing after a big crash. He became pretty closed off and bitter, so LMQ, a famous race car, coming into town isn't exactly the best thing that could have happened to him. But with Lightning becoming a better person through this town helping him, Lightning is kind of helping Doc go through some of the same character development. Doc learns to really come to terms with everything, realizes that he's been lying to himself and others for an unreasonably long time, and steps back into the racing world as Lightning's crew chief. I just think that Lightning and Doc's character development paralleling each other in opposite directions is kind of cool.
(Also, I don't think Lightning was an entirely different person because of Radiator Springs, I just think that fame changed him a lot and RS brought out the him before that.)
Also, I saw someone say that when Chick was talking to Lightning about the twins (Lightning's biggest fans, Mia and Tia), Lightning's mind wanders to that drive with Sally, and how that shows that before RS, he thought that what the twins were giving him was love, when it was really just adoration from a distance, and that what he had with Sally was actual love. And I fucking love that observation so much.
This post is so long already and I'm only just starting Cars 2 XD
(I also would just like to say for the record that as I started writing this part, I started watching Cars 3, too.)
Alright, so, Cars 2's plot is so out of left field in comparison to the plot of the first one, it's fucking insane. It starts off with Finn McMissile sneaking onto an oil rig because a secret agent that was in deep cover ended up being killed on the job. Finn is then spotted and a bunch of lemons (the name for a specific group of cars) then start chasing him and shooting at him, and a huge part of the rig blows up, therefore killing a bunch of lemons, and then Finn jumps into the water and becomes a fucking submarine car and what the actual fuck is happening?
So the big bad guy (or so we think) is like "Now that that bitch is fucking DEAD, who could possibly stop us now?" and then it cuts to Mater who says "Mater! Tow Mater! That's who! Is HEREEEEEE to help!" because his friend, Otis, who is a lemon, broke down outside of RS.
Blah blah blah, McQueen is back in town, it's revealed that Doc died, Mater breaks into Wheel Well and pretends to be a waiter so that he can eavesdrop on McQueen and Sally- wait, did I just say that Doc fucking died?!!?
Yep. I did. They just kind of... gloss over that. Like, it's just a simple thing about how it felt wrong to have someone else win the Piston Cup the first year after Doc died. That's fucking it. Like, what the fuck???
Anyway, at Wheel Well, Mater calls into the Mel Dorado Show and secures McQueen a spot in the World Grand Prix. At the first, like, I don't know, party or something? For the race, Mater accidentally gets in the crossfire of some spy bullshit and Finn (with his new partner, Holley Shiftwell) confuse him for some American spy.
They hack into Mater's headset during LMQ's first race in Tokyo, causing him to lose the race, LMQ yells at him (so we admit that LMQ is still an asshole, then?) and Mater decides to go back to RS, but gets completely pulled into the spy bullshit.
Throughout this entire movie, Mater is constantly being told in some way or another that he's nothing more than an incompetent, idiot tow truck, so that kind of fucks with him, y'know?
Anyway because nothing else in this movie really matters other that we kind of just skip to the end. Apparently, the lemon conspiracy was to create a fake biofuel that would have this giant race, the World Grant Prix, to promote it, in which all the racers would be required to use it. However, when aimed at with a high electromagnetic pulse, it'll cause your engine to blow. Therefore, the world would turn on renewable fuel and lemons, who were the lowest minority according to the Cars Universe (also, lemon is, like, an in-universe slur, just felt like I should mention that), would become super rich and powerful because, like mentioned before, they had complete control of the largest oil reserve in the fucking world.
The last race doesn't require the racers to use Alinol because it's supposedly dangerous, LMQ uses it anyway, Mater blows his cover because he's horrified that the lemons are planning on killing LMQ, he, Holley, and Finn get kidnapped, Mater escapes to warn LMQ only to realize that there was a bomb planted on him that could only be deactivated through the voice of the person that said it, Mater figures out that the real bad guy was Sir Axelrod (the guy that organized the WGP in the first place), and Sir Axelrod goes to jail while Mater gets knighted by the Queen of fucking England.
Oh, yeah, did I mention that Mater almost blew up the Queen of motherfucking England???
(Oh, and Holley and Mater are dating now. Felt like I needed to mention that.)
Yeah, this movie was a fever dream. It's my favorite one of the three, though, so I refuse to insult it.
Now for smaller moments, LMQ is introduced to this Italian race car named Francesco Bernoulli. There's this bit where they first meet that directly parallels the bit in Cars 1 where LMQ is flirting with Sally. I'm just gonna link the post I made on that bit here. Also, Francesco gets a custom bumper sticker made that just says "Ciao, McQueen!" and then at the end of the movie, LMQ makes one that says "Ka-ciao, Francesco!" Anyway, my point is that there is no heterosexual explanation for that.
And then there's the fact that Mater's character arch in this movie is basically "I'm being told to be different than I really am, and that I'll only ever be on thing, but what I need to do is embrace what I really am, regardless of what everyone else thinks, because I'm the only one that has any true authority over myself."
.........Mater is fucking trans-coded.
Then there's Lightning McQueen stuff. The first thing I wanna talk about with him comes from the first one and goes into the second one. One of my favorite ways to view the first movie is McQueen overcoming his personal, bigoted beliefs (rusty cars) on his own. Like, yeah, he gets some help every now and then, but it's not as if his hand is being held through every step of the way. And then the way he treats Mater and realizes his wrong-doings is him realizing and amending some of the beliefs that he still holds on a smaller scale.
LMQ is intersex coded. A running joke in the first movie is that LMQ doesn't have headlights and that they're just stickers because he's a race car and doesn't need real ones. And upon telling people this, only male cars are surprised by this, meanwhile female cars don't really question this. In Sally's case, she gives him an affectionate nickname based on it. However, we are told that Lightning McQueen is a man throughout this entire movie. Then in the second one, we see Lightning getting real headlights put in. Almost as if it was like, y'know, top surgery or something.
Also, two background characters, Sarge and Fillmore, are shown on a dinner date when the group was in Italy and then at the end, Fillmore is like "If you're saying that I switched out Alinol with my organic fuel because I never trusted Axelrod in the first place, you're dead wrong, man! It was him," while pointing at Sarge. Sarge says "Once big oil, always big oil *glances nervously at Fillmore* Man." Fillmore, teasingly, "Tree hugger." (Sarge calls Fillmore a tree hugger in a somewhat derogatory manner earlier in the movie.)
I'm sorry, but, like, those two are definitely dating.
But also, the idea that a minority just doesn't wanted to be treated like shit anymore, so they decide to do something bad, and we're supposed to root against them because they decided to do something bad, despite the fact that it came from genuine issues and trauma having to do with the way society functions??
Didn't realize we were gonna go there, Cars Universe, but go off, I guess.
And then there's Cars 3.
So, uh.... I don't like Cars 3?
Don't get me wrong, it's a really good movie, but I have my issues with it, y'know?
It starts of by mirroring Cars 1, with the whole "I am speed" and racing montage thing. Here, we're introduced to Cal Weathers, Bobby Swift, and Jackson Storm.
Cal Weathers is the nephew of Strip Weathers and is the new racer for Dinoco. He's a bit slow, and I don't mean that speed-wise, but, like, I am, too. He's adorable and I love him so much.
Bobby Swift is basically only there to take Chick's place since it was three cars in the first movie, however, instead of being an antagonistic asshole, he's the friend that completes the trio.
Then, finally, there's Jackson Storm. He's meant to be the antagonist.... I guess? Like, there's nothing that really makes me want to hate him, y'know? Like, with Chick, I hated him with a burning passion. With Professor Z (Axelrod's spokesperson for the lemons) and Sir Axelrod, I was conflicted because what they were doing was super bad, but they also had a point. Those are the two ways that you should really be looking for in a villain. Hell, even if the viewer likes the villain better than the protagonist, that's still good!! Because it means that you wrote a good villain!! But with Jackson Storm, he's just kind of..... there. Like, he's ageist. That's kind of fucked up. But that's..... that's it. And even then, it's ageism in the same way that you would hear someone say "You scream like a girl." It's wrong, yeah, but it's ingrained into our heads so even if we have progressive beliefs, we'd still end up thinking or saying it from time-to-time because that's just kind of how society works. Jackson Storm is such a dry antagonist and it honestly kind of sucks, because he has so much potential as a character.
Anyway, Jackson beats McQueen out of nowhere despite being a rookie, even more Next Gens start showing up which causes other racers to either be fired or retire, like Bobby and Cal, respectively. McQueen crashes and has to heal and decides that if he's gonna beat Storm, he needs to train like him. Rusty and Dusty, owners of Rusteeze, sell the company to an even bigger company run by a guy named Sterling (your stereotypical billionaire capitalist who claims to be on your side but has money as his first priority no matter what) and ends up being trained by Cruz Ramirez.
(Oh, also, Chick Hicks has a talk show now called Chick's Picks with Chick Hicks. He has a super smart data analyst on the show named Natalie Certain.
The thing about Chick is that, while he is an asshole, you aren't just born an asshole. Something has to make you that way. And while some of that can be chopped up to fame getting to him and the fact that he was always coming second to the same person, but there's no way that that can be it. Like, murder isn't really the kind of thing that something that simple will cause you to do. Which means that there was something from his past that caused this switch.
Which, when thinking about his character like that, it honestly makes him a lot more interesting. Especially since Doc's story kind of went the same way. He was this confident, happy kid until his crash, and then the racing world abandoned him, and he started to become more closed off and depressed and bitter towards the world. Having the main antagonist have such a big and clear parallel to the main role model is so cool, in my opinion.
Like, my love-hate relationship with Chick Hicks is definitely leaning on the hate side, but he is the kind of guy that I'd want to put under a microscope and study or put in a cage and poke with a stick, y'know?)
Sterling says that if McQueen doesn't win the first race of the next season he's gonna have to retire. McQueen agrees, Cruz starts training him, but it really ends up with McQueen training Cruz. There's this big thing where they end up at a demolition derby and by a stroke of luck Cruz wins and earns her first trophy. See, the thing about this was that they were undercover and at the end of this their cover was blown. While driving back to the training facility, McQueen blows up and is just a huge asshole to Cruz about everything that has happened so far. Cruz's tragic backstory is revealed here but what I wanna focus on is OH LOOK! LMQ IS BEING AN ASSHOLE AGAIN, AFTER CLAIMING TO HAVE LEARNED HIS LESSON!!!
I know that the whole point of Cars 1 was for McQueen to be a huge dick, but he learns his lesson in the end. In the second movie, that behavior is repeated, and then he claims to have learned his lesson. In the third movie, and you're not gonna believe this, that behavior is repeated, and then he claims to have learned his lesson. This is honestly one of the reasons why, while I love him, I just don't like him. He's kind of like the Sharpay Evans of these movies, y'know? He goes through character development in each movie, only for it to be scrapped for the next one. But the thing about why it's somewhat likable in Sharpay but not in McQueen is that Sharpay is A, the antagonist and B, a child. McQueen is neither of those things. It just becomes tiring and annoying at the end of the day.
Anyway, what I didn't mention is that Doc being dead is, like, a huge thing in this movie. LMQ and Cruz end up going to Thomasville, which is a fictional place in the state of George, because that's where Doc used to race and where his family lives. They help him and Cruz train and then they get to Florida for the race. McQueen races for half of it, but then when Sterling is trying to get Cruz to go back to the training center, McQueen stops racing and gets Cruz to take his place. Smokey, Doc's best friend (brother? Cousin?), who was acting as Lightning's crew chief, is then replaced by LMQ, who is acting as Cruz's crew chief, therefore cementing his place as the new Doc Hudson of the narative.
Cruz beats Jackson, it comes up as both Lightning and Cruz winning, Lightning can keep racing if he so chooses, but he decides to continue training Cruz. Tex, the owner of Dinoco, buys out Sterling. There's a quick clip with them racing at the butte that parallels the ending clip of the first movie, where Lightning was racing at the butte with Doc.
The only thing about this is that, like, we're also supposed to be really happy that they managed to beat Jackson, but, like, if anything, I'm just glad that Cruz proved her worth as a racer. Lightning beating Jackson is far from satisfying because I just..... didn't like any of them.
(There's also a series of movies called Planes. I've only seen the first one out of the two and I haven't watched them in years, but I wanted to at least bring it up because they take place in the same universe.)
That kind of leads us to where we are now. Last year, Disney announced that there was going to be a Cars series. A few days ago, the trailer for the series, which would officially be named Cars on the Road, was released. It's going to follow Mater and McQueen on a road trip to get to Mater's sister's wedding. You can watch it here, if you'd like!
To be completely honest, there is DEFINITELY some stuff that I missed while typing this out. I can talk about these movies for ages, and because it was already getting so long, I didn't bring up any of the shorts, comics, or books. But yeah, that's that. Imma just link my fics here, like you asked earlier, and that'll be it.

What is your absolute all-time favorite idea you’ve ever had?
you know what. i don’t know if i’ll ever continue the fic but i still think my superman!thorin au is a banger premise
Is there a question you’ve been asked in the past that really stands out to you and you still think about sometimes?
I don’t remember if this was phrased as a question but I had someone comment on a fic that they would take writing classes from me which was super flattering.
What is your favorite part of being a writer? Which parts could you take or leave?
I guess my favorite part is creating my little stories and having entertainment that is like...perfectly tailored to my brain lol. I don’t know that there’s any aspect that I would ‘leave’ necessarily, most of the struggles are part of the authenticity of the craft. I guess I do wish I had more time/motivation to finish all the fics I’ve left incomplete. And on that note: El milagro secreto by Jorge Luis Borges (this translation is kind of mid but the story is so so good)
What is your greatest motivation to write/create?
I talked about this in an ask recently but my motivation is just that writing is something I have to do? Same way you have to eat/sleep etc, it’s just part of my daily ritual. I would be unhappy without it.
What do you wish you knew when you were first starting out writing?
I wish I knew that the majority of writing advice is a form of procrastination and the best thing you can do is just get words down on the page. The rest can come later.

ok i can finally talk a bit about my new OC! For this new fic I’m working on i’m really looking forward to exploring the main character Hanako’s relationship to victimhood and morality. she is of the mind that being a victim is worse than being the “bad guy” and that influences how she views the violent and cruel things she’s done in the past. personally i think victimhood is something hard to reconcile but i feel like it’s better than believing yourself to be an intrinsically bad person.

The Shade Room is a famous media company founded in 2014 by Angelica Nwandu. It focuses on top news stories involving celebrities, sports, pop culture, love, education, fashion, entertainment, and local news from around the nation about and on African Americans. You can view content from The Shade Room on multiple social media sites, including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, and Youtube. It relates to our topics and screenings because The Shade Room gives us in-depth information on our community that will not be heard or seen on a city's local news channel. Is our news not shown on local news channels because it to urban? Is it leading to showing success in the community?
When reviewing Race vs. Visual Technology PowerPoint, I couldn't help but re-read words from Hank Willis Thomas Crossroads, 2006. "So much of white America cannot see the shapes made out so clearly by most of black America...they are blind to how black folks often experience law enforcement." Also, Raise Up, 2013. "Stereotyping a race as drug addicts, criminals, and gang members and so might deserve to get shot." "White criminals are given the benefit of the doubt, and an attempt is made to understand or justify while criminals of color do not have the luxury of "presumed innocent." Whenever I turn on the local news, we are portrayed as drug dealers, gang bangers, a menace to society, and most of all, criminals, as Thomas mentioned. The Shade Room releases stories on Black excellence—for example, the educational achievement of young Black men receiving full-ride scholarships to college. Young black children creating small businesses and the success it has. New inventions from the African American youth. Were is that news seen on our local news stations? It's not, so we revert to social media platforms like The Shade Room, Black News, and blkculture_.
If you want to keep knowledge away from a black person, put it in a book. I have heard this rhetoric so many times in my life. But it has moved on to a different platform, one more current. If you want to keep valuable knowledge away from a black person, keep it out of mainstream media. African Americans have surpassed the stereotype that we don't like or know how to read. Now that we are becoming educated and intelligent about investments and living. The system must find a new way to isolate the African African American community from gaining success. So the next best thing is not to mention it all, harp on their downfall, neglect their achievements, and continue to condition them negatively through posting negative impacts from our community across news platforms nationwide. That's what the media platform has come to. We turn to other social media platforms to stay aware of what's happening in our community. If we can't be accepted and have the same advances as other races, you create your own. This is supposed to be America, where everyone's treated equally. How can one who helped build this country be so looked down on. African Americans have to find loopholes to gain acceptance in a country they practically made.

#WRECKFEST ACHIEVEMENTS FULL#
Wreck at least X opponents: you have to deal the killing blow on them to count.
Huge crashes aren’t necessary for this one – just small knocks and hustling is enough to accumulate some damage, but huge crashes, especially into cars taking a corner are very effective here.
Cause at least X damage: just do the specified amount of damage in total during the race.
If the track is 1.2 km long and the goal is to lead for 2 laps, then you have to be first for a total of 2.4 km during the race. Your goal is to lead for X times this distance.
Lead for at least X laps: on the pre-race screen, note the track’s length.
Crash out at least X opponents: crash into an opponent and make them hit a static object on the map, such as a rock, tree, pole or anything else that is immovable.
This only counts if the opponent’s car did a 180 spin as a result of your hit.
Spin out at least X opponents: you can spin them out by pressuring their rear from the side or crashing into the side areas near the rear wheel.
These only give some bonus XP and a goal to chase – since no achievements or rewards are tied to them, they aren’t too important, but here are tips for some of them:

Bonus challengesĮach race in a Series event, every single event, and every full Heat Race has at least one Challenge associated with them. 200 points for first place, 160 for second and so on. You just have to get the best placement possible – scoring is double of what I showed above. Bonus challenges carry over from the first race to the final, meaning you can progress in them over the course of the entire event.įinally, there are individual events – races, unique challenges such as lawnmower derby, Last Man Standing events and bus vs supervan races. In Wreckfest, your goal is to stay in the first half of the field to not get eliminated, then win the final race. This is similar to how knockout stages work in the football World Cup, for example. Heat Races are a bit different – they are multi-stage elimination-style events, where you have to play multiple races on the same track to reach the final stage, then win that one to earn the full amount of points. If you get a position in a disadvantageous spot (such as way in the back), you can just press Esc, select Quit to leave the race and restart it from there without losing progress in the series. The total score is calculated from all races in a Series – for example, if you come out 1st, 3rd and 1st in a 3-race series, you get 100+70+100 points out of 3×100.Īlso, it is important to note that because Series races consist of several individual events, your starting position on the grid will be randomized per race. As you can see, first place gets you 100 points, second gets 80, third is worth 70 and so on. The following screen will show how scoring works, by looking at the Standings tab after finishing one race out of 8 in a Series event. The distinction between these is important when looking at scoring. There are 3 main event types in Wreckfest – Series, Heat Race and individual challenges. The same goes for experience gains – look at this XP tally after a 6-lap banger race, where I came out on top – you can see that more than 2/3rd of the total XP came from me being first, the bonus objective and the XP gains for hitting others only make up less than a third of the total.Īnd finishing in the top 3 comes with another very useful reward – you get a random performance or armor part for the vehicle you used in the race, this way you can avoid purchasing some of those parts.This is not a reliable method of “farming” for a specific part, and it is time-consuming – consider it just a small incentive for performing well. Just like in many other racing games, your goal is to earn the best possible standing in all events – even though this is a destruction derby-themed game, coming out on top is more important in single-player than smashing other vehicles. There are 5 championships, with an increasing amount of events within them. 4) Easy credits and leveling Progression in CareerĪt first glance, progression in Wreckfest‘s career mode is pretty straightforward: earn points by finishing events, and when you accumulated enough points, the following, higher tier championship will unlock.

When using manual gears, 1st gear is now automatically engaged after resetting.
