Fan-lacing corset in action. Yeah, it can be that simple, especially if you experience troubles with shoulder motion range.

saw yet another costuber trip all over themselves to not ‘mess up’ the corsets vs stays terminology and this is my contribution to that debate @marzipanandminutiae
to explain, if anyone’s getting confused: conical 18thc ‘stays’ and hourglass 19thc ‘corsets’* are often conflated and people get mad about this. in reality, the terminology was SUPER loose and depending on what language you spoke, where you lived in each country, how attuned to fashion you were, etc. you might call your foundation garment ‘stays’ even in the late 19thc, or you might call it a ‘corset’ in the 18thc. They both mean the same thing. ultimately it’s just a timeframe thing with the terminology and tbh unless you are a publishing fashion historian i do not care if you call marie antoinette’s undergarment a corset because you’re technically still right <3
yes, most experts use these words with the specific meanings of ‘19thc undergarment made in an hourglass shape, often with a metal separating busk’ and ‘18thc undergarment in a conical shape boned with reed or baleen’ etc etc but the moral of the story here is that it’s okay to not remember which is which and correctness depends on the circumstance anyway. don’t be too hard on people for messing them up.
part of the problem linguistically is that the boning itself was referred to as ‘stays’, so you get ‘corset stays’ etc etc through the 19thc as well. it’s basically impossible to mark a precise point at which the changeover from the word ‘stays’ to the word ‘corset’ occurred, and that’s because there was no one point - and even when the youth ™ started to adopt ‘corset’, their elders continued calling them ‘stays’.
Tumblr media
Ladies’ Home Journal, August 1893, everyone.
*yes not all corsets were hourglassy in the 19thc, this is a broad generalization

It is finished! The “Lisa Frank” corset (which, no, has nothing to do with the actual Lisa Frank) is done and on its way to Tig Greyves in North Carolina.
I’m really, really proud of how it turned out. The pattern-matching is good, the fabric will wear like iron, and this is the first MayFaire Moon corset to get an actual clothing tag inside! I’m delighted. I hope everyone else is, too!

cevans characters and their fav type of lingerie they like to see you wear for them ✨🎀 which one is your fav style?
Steve Rogers
Tumblr media
He LOVES you in black lingerie. Everyone thinks he’s such a great guy, such a gentleman but between the sheets he’s super freaky and likes for you to be too. He likes a bit of danger, and seeing you in black lace just does it for him. Sometimes he’ll mix it up with different colours (white is his other favourite on you) but usually always with some type of black trim, bow or accent.
Ari Levinson
Tumblr media
Ari is literally a daddy so he loves you in pretty pink baby girly lingerie. His love language is also buying you gifts (lingerie) so every piece is like a bespoke, perfectly crafted piece of art. He loves soft baby pink colours on you, white lace trim, see-through pieces, smooth satin, a lot of intricate lace detailing, stitched in roses, tulle, a touch of an opulent vintage mixed with a cutesy babygirl look too. And he spoils and pampered you soooo much and just ugh let me stop here.
Ransom Drysdale
Tumblr media
You’d think he’d be into opulent purple or something but no… Ransom just wants you to look as downright slutty as possible (in a classy way) so he has a preference to red lingerie. It matches the red Chanel lipstick he bought you. He’s really into corsets, suspenders, garter belts and he also loves for you to pair the red lingerie with traditional pearls.
Lloyd Hansen
Tumblr media
I think Lloyd would be into the super whimsical, intricate, dreamy type of lingerie. Think like For Love and Lemons type vibe. A lot of flowers, hearts and bows in cute pastel colours with a dash of bold mixed in! He especially loves ribbons, he loves tugging on them to bring you closer. He ends up ripping a lot of your lingerie but he thinks there’s something poetic about something so intricately pretty all ripped up. He prefers you naked anyways, although he secretly thinks the lingerie is pretty sweet.
Curtis Everett
Tumblr media
He loves you in white lingerie. Pure, clean, gorgeous satiny white! Maybe because he’s so dirty himself bc he doesn’t bathe jk hehe. But no, he just loves how white lingerie reminds him of purity and innocence. He loves that juxtaposition between you and him — he’s all grimy and sweaty from work and comes home to see you dressed up in the pretty white set he bought you??? Oh he’d be ecstatic!
Andy Barber
Tumblr media
He loves blue lingerie. Idk why. Maybe he really liked Cinderella or something (although Cinderella’s original dress was actually silver/white). Anyways yeah. Also fun fact the middle pic is one of my favourite VS catalog pictures from 2003.
Jake Jensen
Tumblr media
He loves the more modern type of lingerie, it really excited him. Like deep purples, diamanté designs, rhinestones and a touch of glamour. He gets a real kick out of it. Of course, he loves when you dress all sweet and cute too, but this is his secret fantasy hehe.

Tessa Virtue had three wedding dresses. We spoke to the Toronto designer who created them
“Tessa really was swaying away from any details that looked or felt like a skating costume.”
February 2, 2024
Tessa Virtue and Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Morgan Rielly have just revealed they secretly tied the knot, not once, but twice, last summer. First, there was a Toronto wedding at Noce restaurant with just four guests joining them. The couple then jetted to Italy the following day and with 11 family members to celebrate their union with an intimate cocktail party, dinner and dancing.
Virtue and Rielly have always been very private about their relationship, so the fact they kept their ‘I dos’ a secret for almost six months is not a surprise. In an exclusive interview with Hello! Virtue said the decision to publicly unveil their newlywed status was a moment she struggled with. “You know when something is just so meaningful to you that you simultaneously want to just hold on to it and protect it so fiercely, and also shout from the rooftops?”
What was not a surprise about this romantic secret marriage between two Canadian sport icons? The bride’s wedding fashion game. True to form in the age of the wedding wardrobe, where multiple looks are essential, Virtue wore three incredible gowns. Ever the passionate supporter of Canadian fashion, Virtue tapped Toronto-based designer Jaclyn Whyte of Whyte Couture—a label she’s been spotted wearing at glittering events in the city including the CAFA Awards—to design each of her wedding looks.
“It was a surreal experience to work with a legend such as Tessa Virtue as we’ve followed her throughout the years making Canada proud,” says Whyte. “It’s a very personal and intimate process when making a gown, you really get to know each other. Tessa is one of the sweetest, most genuine and thoughtful people I know, and it was wonderful to get to know her and build a lasting friendship during this time we spent together. It was an honour to have made not one but three gowns for her wedding celebrations.”
According to Whyte, all the wedding looks were a true collaborative process between Virtue and herself. She says Virtue was very open to ideas, drawn to classic silhouettes, and simple, luxurious fabrics but wanted to add her own touches to make them a little less traditional. “Tessa really was swaying away from any details that looked or felt like a skating costume,” Whyte says. “Tessa knew what she wanted, we listened carefully and she trusted us. It was a magical meeting of creative minds.”
For the Toronto wedding day, Tessa wore a sleek and chic halter gown with no embellishments—a vision of modern bridal style. “This dress was super comfortable,” Whyte explains. “It was a classic silhouette with no train in soft white.”
For the Italian party, there were two looks beginning with a bespoke tea-length corseted dress, which Virtue wore for the rehearsal dinner. This dress was a particular delight for Whyte to create with the bride because it was detailed with whimsical artwork—an engagement ring, hearts, flowers and a Canadian flag to name a few—and meaningful messages chosen by Virtue like “Ti Amo” and “Marry Me,” which were hand painted on the gown by the designer. “The personalized drawings and notes made this one unique and extra special,” says Whyte.
Virtue’s third wedding dress was a most glorious and dramatic strapless mermaid gown in a beautiful pastel pink. The bodice of the dress featured delicate ruching with a flared skirt and train accessorized with a statement bow on one side of the hemline. As Virtue told Hello!, her pink wedding dress was a gown she found by chance and didn’t know she needed until she tried it on. “I just felt so confident, so fun, so me. Not exactly typical ‘bride,’ which I also loved. It was one of those magical, magical moments.”
Thanks to Virtue’s perfect pink wedding dress moment, the rose-coloured gown is likely to be one of 2024’s biggest wedding fashion musts.

When Miss Bellatrix Bachelor became Lady Bellatrix Goth, no one could have predicted just how good of a match her and Sir Mortimer Goth would be. Perhaps it's their shared oddities, their creative fervor, or simply their childhood friendship... but Willow Creek's lady and baronet are the most devoted the parish has ever seen.

household // 1910s caleb & lilith & lily [DOWNLOAD]
Tumblr media
It's so much fun throwing the Vatores into random historical eras. This is what you'll get if you throw my late Edwardian Zhu-Vatore household into your game! I may have gone a bit overboard.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
↓↓↓ tl;dr household download link & required cc below the cut ↓↓↓
There's absolutely gorgeous Edwardian cc out there, so I collected it for you 💖
The Edwardian era was marked by excess and conspicuous consumption. They liked big hair and big hats, and by the end of the period people had come to agree that the sexiest shape a woman can be is cylindrical.
Caleb, Lily, and Lilith really pull off the look. Neither lady is particularly cylindrical, but they look great in these dresses and absolutely rock the Gibson Girl updo and fancy hats.
I aged Lily down and changed her hair color, removed Lilith's tattoos, and gave Caleb a basic dark form, but no other changes. I tried to make them cousins? But when I loaded the household onto my laptop, they weren't cousins anymore :(
You'll need Vintage Glamour, in addition to Vampires and Werewolves. A few of Caleb's outfits and his hair are from VG and you CANNOT pair side bangs with Edwardian clothing. It's a fashion law.
In order to cut back on the amount of cc, there's less variety of hats, hair, gloves, and shoes than I'd like. I also didn't include jewelry. If people are interested, I can put together a list of supplementary cc that can be swapped in.
Please tag me @dead-lights if you use these for anything! I'd love to see my pixel buddies walking around in other people's saves.
Now buckle up, y'all. This gets long.
download household [SFS]
Extract that into your Tray folder (in the same folder as your Mods folder). You should see the household in CAS when you open your gallery.

If you're trying to replace the default in-game:
move this household into wolfsbane manor with the default vatores, then delete the defaults
use mods/cheats to make the new lily the vatores' cousin (i think mccc and ui cheats can both do it)
move custom lily in with the volkov household - use cheats/mods to copy her default relationships if you'd like - and then delete default lily. you will also need to mod/cheat lily back into the moonwood collective if you want her to keep her position. all three characters still have their occult rank and powers. she does NOT keep her special moonwood mill gossip dialogue - not sure why.
TOU
don't put my stuff behind a paywall
don't claim my stuff as your own
don't violate the TOUs of the cc makers i've included
Please let me know if there are any problems - this is my first time putting up a household and I'm only mostly sure I did it right 😅 I managed to get it to work on my laptop, so there's that.
If you're just here for the download, you're done now! If you're interested in learning more about Edwardian fashion, let me ramble at you for a bit :)
my notes
This isn't the most historically accurate set, but I'm calling it close enough - if you're interested in learning more about the era, Edwardian Promenade is a great place to start.
Edwardians had really weird, complicated rules about hat and glove wearing. For most of these outfits, people would don and remove their hats and gloves based on social context - they shouldn't be wearing gloves when they eat, for example, but should always wear gloves when they're dancing. It's hard to find consistent information about the specific rules, but I've read excerpts from the Edwardian equivalents of Miss Manners and Good Housekeeping and they are fascinating.
I found some great reference images for sportswear from Silhouettes Costumes. Caleb's athletic outfit is based on this contemporary illustration. The unfastened bottom button is a nice detail to have - it was fashionable for men to leave the last button undone, as a nod to King Edward.
The ladies have 3 sleep outfits - the first are nightgowns that they would wear to sleep, the second are corsets, with other undergarments still on underneath, and the third are chemises, which were worn under their corsets - the underest part of the underwear, essentially.
For an in-depth explanation of Edwardian lingerie, check out The Fashion Archaeologist's Blog. For information about Edwardian nighttime hair care, check out Sew Historically.
The girls are wearing lingerie dresses for their hot weather outfits - lacy dresses made with the same materials & techniques as lingerie. These were good casual afternoon dresses, and were sometimes worn without a corset. Learn more about them from The Dreamstress!
