PICK-A-CARD: Healing Words For YOU!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I return with more PACs!! This one includes some healing messages and advice. This one speaks inwards, towards your shadow self, or inner child! Whether it's words that may bring you peace, or advice on how to soothe your heart and mind, this is the PAC for you! Choose one or more of these healing stones, and let spirit kiss your boo-boos better! ~~~~~~~~~ Pile 1 (Rose Quartz): Pile 1, you may be mourning the loss of a lover or friends. You may feel like you were not enough for them, or that you have a hard time making new ones. Your self-confidence has taken a blow, but the worst thing you could do is to step back. Manifestation for you is at it's strongest! Don't stop your feelings from letting you go out and have fun. Sometimes, you need to get a little uncomfortable to find something or someone new! Now is the time to put yourself out there, and continue being you. Now is the time to manifest, but you must meet your manifestations in the middle! Sitting around on your booty isn't going to make it happen. Your social life will not just fall into your lap! Take what inspires you, and run with it. believe in yourself. The universe does, and so do I! Manifest. Embrace your energetic side, be the life of the party, and see what happens! Even if 'life of the party' means you dancing with your drink in the corner! Be you, and the right people will gravitate to you like a moth to a flame! 💃 I manifest my life the way I want it to be. Success, abundance and happiness come naturally to me. ~~~~~~~~ Pile 2 (Amethyst): You feel as if something might be wrong, Pile 2. You sense something is off or amiss. You may have been feeling antsy, or anxious for seemingly no reason. You are being called to heed your own inner guidance. Listen to your intuition at this time. Be kind to yourself, nurture your instincts and feelings. Don't call yourself a worrywart. You're not overreacting, and you're not picking up bad signals where you shouldn't be. Listen to your gut, and act on it. If there's nothing physically around you causing these bouts of anxiety and worry, what possibly could be? Reflect using intuition, and if you need to, seek help from a mental health professional. You also may have emotions or feelings that you have been holding in. If you have a person you want to confess feelings to, and if you feel like there might be something mutual between you and this person in your gut, go for it. Don't be afraid! You've been through some rough times, and people may have treated you awfully, even abusively. Listen to your feelings, and nurture them! Honor yourself, Pile 2. You aren't a burden. Your feelings matter. 💗 I am open and aware of messages coming to me, and I trust that they will guide me on my path. ~~~~~~~~ Pile 3 (Moonstone): Pile 3, you are being called to honor your inner child. Honor love, loyalty and all things tender. Open your arms and your heart, it is safe to do so at this time! Even if a situation may typically have you skittish, cautious or even something like being barred by tradition, if you feel the call, let it all go. Gravitate towards what feels right, despite your worries. Use your intuition, of course, and it is more than perfectly okay to be shy, but if your heart truly wants something, seize it! You got this! Embrace every new opportunity with a childlike excitement! You are particularly strong in your intuition. Your connection between you and your inner child may be stronger than most. Now is the time to get together and do things with others. Call a friend you haven't talked to in a while, bake your loved ones some cookies! Embrace nostalgia and sensitivity, even better if it's with someone you love. Hug and nurture your inner child! Don't be afraid to be vulnerable. Laugh, cry, kiss, hug, make love, do what your heart calls for you to do. 🫂 I honor my inner child and feed it all it needs to stay happy, healthy, young and free at heart. ~~~~~~~~ Pile 4 (Topaz):
Pile 4, you are called to work on your shadow self. You feel like you are crumbling over the weight of your worries, your past. Bitterness, resentment, sadness, grudges, everything. You are having trouble going on with life, you feel as if you are not in control, and can't gain control unless you use force, whether that be with words or actions. You feel as though you can't make sense of the chaos, but that may be because you have been holding off on unpacking your past, or your trauma. You are putting it off out of fear, or unpleasant feelings. You know you won't like what you see, but it is necessary to move forwards and heal. Question your belief systems along the way. What's holding you back? What has created your current situation? It is time to be personally accountable for things you may have done to inflict pain upon others during your own moment of pain. You are more in control than you think, and to help you hone that, do shadow work as well as seeking help from a professional. It's time to stop being miserable. You can take those first steps to healing your shadow self. Things will get better, I promise. 🦋 I only hold positive thoughts. My actions are of pure intent. ~~~~~~~~ I hope these messages were helpful for you all! Please stay strong, and know that you are amazing!! -DV 💜💚

Omg??? So I have been terrified to work out because I just know that it's going to fucking hurt so bad because of my chronic pain but because of the pain I don't move around a lot and that makes it worse!!! And I've been on yt shorts and I just came across this guy who's doing like, beginner stuff for working out and when I saw it my ADHD ass was like oh my god that looks like something I'd do anyway when I have an energy burst?? And I tried it because it looked so low maintenance and I was SO SUS like NO WORKOUTS work for me I have always hated it and it hurts so bad and I want to be strong so bad like I was as a kid but I just lost it because of this pain. But this .. looks different like maybe I could do it it looks fun? And not hard? So I tried it and ???? It was fun? It was easy??? And i could ACTUALLY FEEL IT WORKING MY BODY and finally RELIEVING SOME OF THAT SHOULDER/NECK/AND BACK PAIN I CAN NEVER GET RID OF!!! it literally only took like 2/3 minutes because like hell fucking no I'm not going to be working out 10 FUCKING MINUTES no I can barely take my laundry to my bedroom. So I only did a few sets but it was so helpful I was flabbergasted . And I kept looking though his stuff...... Dude these are the easiest workouts I've ever done! I was like so ready to give up on the idea and try something else like yoga but it's like a mix of all of it! And it's SOOOO easy for me especially when I can barely hold my shoulders back on a good day and my posture needs a brace and it RELIEVES SO MUCH TENSION! I was maybe working out for like 15? Minutes? And that's like with lots of break baby I need to sit down for a second watch you do it and become comfortable with it. But still with all that in-between time and actually doing the workouts I was really getting my heart rate up and I could feel my muscles loosening up and I could feel the relief in my shoulders and neck and it was like I had a religious experience. I have never wanted to continue a work out I have never wanted to follow anyone on yt or anything that's doing that but this one is genuinely helping me and I'm ... Actually a little excited to try and do it everyday? To try and help me move around? And relieve so much of the pain I have and can't relieve without my medication right now.. And maybe even lose weight if I'm so brave? Become the strong person I was and have wanted to be? This is kind of super new for me like I'm 25 and I have really thought nothing was gonna get better for this because of my situation and it was just gonna get worse but.. this is so helpful.. I have fallen so far because of my illnesses and I have really not seen much hope for getting onto something that seems attainable and like could actually have a positive impact on my life. Something truly beginner that doesn't make me feel like I can't even do a beginner workout and give up. This is helping me so much and I'm honestly thankful for it. I actually.. think I want to try and do this more?

Since every social media platform seems to be lighting dumpster fires one after another and tumblr may be following suit considering recent issues, I've made a discord server in case tumblr starts to die a little too hard. Idk if anyone will be interested but I liked the idea so I did it. I'm calling it Serene Hollow and the intent is for it to be a safe space/hangout for anyone who wants it. Definitely very queer friendly and I intend to do everything in my power to make that true for all people who struggle with marginalization. If anything can be done to better accommodate people please tell me so I can do it.
I’ve never run a server for anything beyond family and friends so I’m still getting used to this whole thing but I think it will be fun. I've added channels and roles that I would use or that I would expect to be used frequently, but for the most part that's up to you. I have a text channel set up to request additional roles and channels to be added. I’ll add pretty much anything, I just don’t want people making duplicate channels or messing with existing stuff so I’m keeping the permissions to create them off.
I hope this isn’t a dumb idea and that I haven’t majorly fucked anything up. Anyway here’s the link if you’re interested.

Was thinking about @shapeshiftersinc 's binders and wanted to review them on here :D
Im gonna be fully honest because. Why the hell would i lie???
Overview-
They are a great binder company. I fully reccomend buying from them- they have the best chest binders ive been able to find and are extremely inclusive and helpful. If you have the money to get one and are worrying it wont be worth it. Trust me. It is.
Pros-
Extremely comfortable.
I mean it. I have sensory issues- other binders ive had have been way too itchy and uncomfortable for me to wear regularly. Id always have issues with the tags- even after i cut them out, it always bothers me.
Shapeshifters have been WAY better. I dont know if it's the materials, the construction, or what but they are wonderful to wear. Ive had the occasional issue with the tag, but its small and pretty ignorable. Plus, I'm about 90% sure you could ask them to just not add it to avoid it entirely. Ive had no issues with scratchiness. Their mesh is breathable, not itchy, and stretchy :D half the time i can completely forget that im even wearing a binder, which says a LOT.
Fit & Bind-
Shapeshifters. Amazing once again. Theyre custom sized to your measurements, which avoids unnecessary tightness in the ribs, gaping at the top, or inconsistent/nonexistent binding. Im a 38DD-40DDD depending on brand, and literally no other binders have had anywhere near this level of bind. Obviously it doesnt get completely flat- but it gets as close as possible. Id say its about the same prominence as laying on your back with no bra- maybe a bit bigger. That being said, thats a HUGE improvement from every other brand ive tried.
Plus, if you have issues with things digging in anywhere or not fitting how you want, they do free alterations. WHICH IS INSANELY HELPFUL BY THE WAY.
Variety-
They have many different patterns and styles and types of binders. It's a lot of different options- undergarments to normal tops, gothic to pastel to flat colors. If youre somewhere hot they have purely mesh binders for extra ventilation, etc.
Plus, if you want a specific pattern you can custom order your own fabric design! Im doing this for my new one and am very excited. (Its the same pattern i have as my banner :>
Customer Service-
Actually wonderful. Eli has been the one talking with me on both of my binders, so i think theyre the main (English) customer service worker! Theyre wonderful and very helpful- straight to the point, speedy, and patient.
I had no clue I needed to upload my pattern to spoonflower and proof it, and they helped me with that even though I could've just. Read the product description 😭
Lots of love to Eli. Also Im so sorry im stupid???? Youre wonderful.
Ease of use-
Im disabled- big shoulder issues. If i angle it the wrong way it dislocates. Bit uncomfy. That being said, most binders are literally painful for me to put on. Especially to take off. It hurts and is a whole mess. However. Shapeshifter's stretchier fabrics make it easier to take on and off. Putting it on is usually completely fine. Taking it off can be an issue. But its way easier than other brands thankfully.
HOWEVER. shapeshifters offers zippers to be built in. Which seems bad because of uneven pressure, but they have stiff inserts in all zipper binders to evenly distribute the bind. When I ordered my 1st binder, i for some reason got the zipper on the side of my bad shoulder?? I usually only use the zipper to take it off, so its fine, but zipping it on is a nightmare. But thats on me because i ordered it stupidly. That being said, zipping it off is actually amazing. If theres any discomfort from the binder, I can just zip it down for a bit. Or i can fully take it off so much easier. 2nd binder from them, i havent ordered the zipper because its not that difficult for me personally to take it off without, but i would recommend it if you need that extra ease!
Durability-
An old binder had tearing stitching after 2 months of semi-regular wear. Bad. My shapeshifter binder ive been wearing up to 5 days a week for up to 8 hours a day. The only signs of wear it has is some deodorant stains. Need I say more. It also hasnt stretched at all- it has the same bind and comfort and fit as it did the day I got it.
CAN YOU SEE WHY I LOVE THESE.
CONS NOW!!
Time
They do take a while to be made and arrive. Because theyre custom made by a small team, it takes a couple months to get one. I ordered one in July and got it in August, for example. I personally do not care about this one because it is such a high quality binder.
Price
Once again, small team making high quality custom products. It gets pricey. My first one was $116 including shipping, taxes, etc. Its important to note that i got a zipper (+$20) and a lot of customization options not everyone will need or want! Once again, i think its worth it as it will probably last me a WHILE. Also they gotta pay their team fairly. WE LOVE PAYING PEOPLE LIVABLE WAGES!
Overall, I do reccomend. In fact I've gotten a friend to get themselves one aswell lmao
Theyre actually an amazing team and i wish them lots of love, appreciation, and success!! Cant wait to get my new binder >:D

PICK-A-CARD: A Fun New Career or Hobby To Look Into! Your Gifts!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Looking to see what might be a fun hobby for you?? This PAC might help you figure out what to research and dive deep into!!! :D Pick a pile and let's branch out!! ~~~~~~~~ Pile 1 (The Sketches): Pile 1, you have a magic within you that rivals most. I see you being incredible mystics, card readers, witches, what have you! This is the pile where those with incredible intuition have gathered. If you're looking at pick-a-cards regularly, drawn in by them for whatever reason, maybe try learning more about the technical side of them! Pick up a deck, watch some Youtube videos, and unlock your inner potential as a magic practitioner! I can see that this might actually be a huge revelation for you... This may lead to a bigger awakening, beyond just a hobby. More a spiritual awakening. You may find that it helps you in more ways than one, or makes you a happier person. I am getting a HUGE message about divine timing. The only warning I will give you, Pile 1, is that I can see that for some of you, there is a competitive spirit within you. That's great! However, you must keep it healthy. Do not become obsessed with creating the best pick-a-cards, or the best videos, or what have you. In that, you will fail. To think that the best place is at the TOP of the mountain is the way of the fool. It is within the mountain that you will find the riches of the earth!! :D Regardless, I see abundance and divine timing waiting for you in this hobby! You DO possess a special gift inside of you, and it wants to grow. Your intuition and synchronicity is high. You may have strange, almost prophetic-seeming dreams. This is the universe trying to tell you something! Whether you would like to listen further to the call, or ignore it, is entirely up to you. ✨ ~~~~~~~~ Pile 2 (The Blue Guitar):
Pile 2, you are healers by trade. You always know just the right thing to say. There are three specific messages coming through, so take whatever one resonates more for you! For some, I see that a good career for you might be a social counselor. A therapist, a case worker, a couples therapist, something along those lines! For others, I see that doing special events might be fulfilling for you as well! Whether that's event coordinating, planning, or playing at a wedding! It even could be charity work that you do, helping others in their desperate time of need. I can even see a mortician for a select few. No matter what the career or hobby would be, you would suit best in a job that takes the weight off of others' shoulders, that mends the cracks in someone's heart or relationships. You want to help. The two I listed are just that, two of the many, many hobbies and jobs that can help others for the better. I do see the potential to start a lifelong career out of this gift, if you so desire. You are wonderful at healing, and stopping or preventing conflict. You are a very down to earth, yet very curious person. It takes a LOT to upset you, Pile 2. That isn't a gift everyone has! Find a way to use your kindness and desire to help in the way you think best! 💗 ~~~~~~~~ Pile 3 (The Biker): Pile 3, you are my activists. You fight for what is right, whether it be for people, or to become the personal attorneys-at-law for Mother Earth herself! You don't mind the idea of your hobby/career being thankless or dirty, as long as justice is served to the masses. You are sharp-witted and quick with your tongue, you can lay down the hard-hitting facts. This could be journalism or journaling, it could be preservation, archiving, becoming a disability or accident lawyer, a conservationist or arborist. Gardening, a plant enthusiast, geology, archeology, a librarian, your soul is inclined to help preserve, to continue. You are incredibly smart and intelligent, and you tend to like to work either directly in the spotlight, or behind the scenes. You are unafraid of what others may think of what you do, say or think, and that's just how you like it, Pile 3! A strong spirit who just wants what's best. You may be bookish, and love to read. I can absolutely see you making a career out of this, in fact, if you try, you're pretty much destined to succeed, Pile 3! You are armed to the teeth with knowledge. Use it! 💅 ~~~~~~~~ Pile 4 (The Frosting): Pile 4, your hobby/career is certainly more of a behind-the-scenes deal. Something that is taken for granted often, however, you are certainly a carefree spirit! You don't mind, you just flow with the wind. You're a quiet and introverted person for the most part, but you shine bright like a firefly whenever you're around others! You have a cheerful disposition despite your quietness. Yoga is something that is being screamed into my brain!! Whether it's taking up yoga, or being a yoga instructor, it's certainly something that may help you at this time. I have a feeling that times may be rough for you, but you have more tools than you think you do. Meditation, yoga, and other mindfulness exercises are suggested to you! For others, I can also see you having a career in hospitality. Whether it's a maid, janitor, a hotel worker, or even something like a taxi/Uber driver or bus driver, you would fit that sort of work well. Something generally quiet where you can stick to yourself most of the time, with only basic contact with others. You get things done best when you're by yourself, and that's great! You also are suggested to take up a creative hobby as well! You do your best thinking at work, when you can just focus on a mindless task and zone out. Crafting, scrapbooking, or coloring is recommended! :D Keep on keepin' on, Pile 4! 🏃 ~~~~~~~~ I'd love to hear feedback in the comments about what you think about the pile you chose, and if it interests you! I can always do an individual extension for your pile if you order a personal reading from me here! -DV

Diversity: It's About More Than Race and Gender
Patrons received this post 5 days early.
“Your medical record isn’t proof of your condition.”
I’m paraphrasing and summarizing the response I received after four hours of trying to resurrect a dead “Ask Me Anything” on r/IAMA on Reddit. The AMA had gone fantastically, with plenty of engagement from other people with my condition asking questions that the answers might help them make their days (or in one case, the life of their 4-year-old daughter) a little easier. But then, in one fell swoop, a comment appeared from the mods and the post removed. Why?
Because I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, and no proof I could provide (including my official medical records) was sufficient. Just like that, the awareness I had been raising for this condition, the help being offered to the Redditors unsure where to turn for their own EDS, was shut down.
“So what does this have to do with writing?” you may be rightfully asking.
Everything.
Disability Inclusivity & Diversity
There has been a massive push for inclusivity regarding gender, sexuality, and race. These minorities are important, as is intersectionality throughout them. But disabilities make people uncomfortable in a different way, and they don’t often fit into a protagonist power fantasy. When disabilities are included, it’s usually a physical disability such as an amputation (usually lost for the sake of the story or plot). Genetic disabilities, amputations pre-story, or mental health issues are rare occurrences within stories (mental health issues are especially rare in fantasy, where it is often too easy to turn a mental health issue into a fantastically created reason, such as an actual demonic possession instead). PTSD is the exception and is becoming a more commonly discussed mental health issue within fantasy and YA fantasy worlds in particular. But the inclusion of mental health challenges and disabilities such as ADHD, autism, or psychosis, to name a few, are rarely discussed without appearing quirky or being explained away by actual magic (it’s one thing for a society to think that a person is possessed if they’re hearing voices, but it’s not schizophrenic representation if those voices really are demons).
Viewing the world from a different perspective is the very reason that we seek out stories. If you are the member of a marginalized group, you are constantly expected to read characters from a perspective and reality quite different from your own. For me, I know it is amazing to read about honest, raw chronic pain in a book that truly understands what it’s like to manage it daily. To share with others what that experience is like is a lesson in empathy. A lesson that everyone, no matter how empathetic they are, can always use the occasional refresher on. Writing characters with genetic disabilities, pre-story disabling injuries, etc. is an impactful choice. It leads to the next point…
HOW DO I WRITE DISABILITIES RESPECTFULLY?
Give disabled characters agency. Show realistic struggles and give them means to overcome those struggles without being required to wait for an able-bodied or neurotypical person to save them.
Make the story not about their disability. Two excellent examples of physical disability inclusivity done well are Toph from Avatar The Last Airbender, and Hiccup from How To Train Your Dragon. Rin’s addiction and PTSD in The Poppy War is an excellent example of mental health struggles. None of these stories revolve around just solving the disability. The plot moves on and the characters have to move with it in whatever way they can while struggling with those disabilities.
Don’t create a disability and then immediately magically solve it like in Harry Potter with Wormtail’s hand amputation.
Talk to people within the community you’re writing about. Every type of disability has their own subculture that comes from it. There is no harm in respectfully approaching a group (often there are subreddits and facebook support groups you can go to) to ask if anyone is willing to open up about their experience to a writer. You’ll find people willing to do so!
Create multidimensional characters with disabilities. Create villains with disabilities (but don’t make the disability the reason they’re evil, that’s a whole other trope that needs to become less frequent).
My inbox is always available for answering well-intentioned questions about disability. Now go out and write some intersectional and diverse characters!
