New pokemon trailer! As the ones that came before it I’m gonna watch it through, then do a rewatch to give commentary.

Well there’s certainly things to look at here

We have three new pokemon, pretty much right off the bat, which we’ll see more of later but can I just say I love the crab

It, looks like we’re getting our three potential storylines to follow? Okay.

So it looks like one path has you fighting a host of rebellious students. No indication of what they’re doing that causing you to do this besides, ya know, trying to be vaguely punk and having a base, but presumably they’ll give us something. Leader is Mela, who if nothing else is a kid who knows her style and works it.

We’re introduced to our first new mon of the trailer alongside the second path- which apparently has us fighting boss pokes in order to gather cooking ingredients from their lairs or something? I wonder if we’ll have a new cooking mechanic to play with alongside this, rather than just doing this for the sake of our culinary classmate

This new mon is Klawf, a new crab for the crab generation. Carcinization is true for pokemon as well. I like it, though of course we’ll have to wait till things are over for me to go grab us info.

And of course the last path is the gym challenge, to the surprise of nobody. But we get a new Chairwoman, Geeta, who certainly is some sort’ve look, and the grass-type leader Brassius, who has a very thorns theme and also carries a fucking whip. Why? Who the fuck knows, but he has a Suduwoodo with a grass tera-type and calls it 'Truleewoodo’ so that’s a thing. Might be some sort’ve artist?

BTW we have a flying move for Quaxly, did we already know it would be having flying moves? I mean Wing Attack makes sense for a duck but still

I don’t know if the scene with Koraidon and Cyclizar means we can have it follow us while we run around but I hope it does because that shit is precious

And our other two new pokemon, who are clearly a set. One does blasters, one does swords, I really don’t have an opinion on them right now though if they turn out to be Bisharp variants I may change my tune for the sake of character stuffs. I don’t think they will though, they’ve told us nothing in the trailer and I am getting potential legendary vibes.

But we’ll see! Because that’s the end of the trailer and that means I can go to the website and check info!

Okay, they give us some sort’ve info on the website! We’ll be going backwards from appearance order.

Starting with Ceruledge, a Fire/Ghost type seemingly exclusive to Violet. Fucker is apparently one of the grudgey ghosts and also happy to fight dirty. It’s signature move, quote, “gathers the lingering regrets of the fallen into Ceruledge’s swords, allowing it to focus that bitterness into a slashing attack“, end quote. Is a physical, Fire-type HP-stealing move.

Then we move on to the Scarlet counterpart- Armarouge, a Fire/Psychic type. It’s wearing someone else’s old armor and believes in fighting fairly no matter how outclassed it is. It’s signature move has no interesting lore, but is apparently very powerful in exchange for dropping the user’s defenses. Seems, very outclassed by the other move.

Overall, still not impressed with these two. They’re not catching me. But, we give them time, maybe they’ll grow on me.

But finally, what we’ve all been waiting for- Klawf! Our lord and savior. A pure Rock-type that’s over 4ft tall, clawsification is ‘the ambush pokemon’. Apparently their rotating eyes leave them no blindspots, and they cling to cliffwalls to drop of their prey from above. They have strong claws that both grow back and are considered a valuable cooking ingredient. Great, love it. Signature ability this time is Anger Shell- when it’s HP drops below half it’s defenses drop but it’s attack stats and speed get a boost. Very cool, turn it into a glass-cannon sweeper. If it gets Belly Drum competitive doubles is doomed.

I am sensing a very strong food theme this region. We have a pork pokemon, an olive oil pokemon, a dough pokemon, a crab pokemon that is explicitly eaten. Very culinary, Paldea.

GEN 8 STARTER EVOLUTION THEORIES

So with the announcement of Pokemon Sword and Shield we’ve gotten our first look at the new starter Pokemon. The Grass chimp Grookey, the Fire rabbit Scorbunny, and the Water lizard Sobble. Besides the usual vehement cries for the Fire starter to NOT be part Fighting again, I’ve seen some wishes and guesses over what their final stages will be. Three of them stand out and make the most sense to me. They are the Sports Theory, the Cryptid Theory, and the RPG Theory.

The Sports Theory states that each starter represents a sport that was popularized in the UK which this new region is based off. This is mostly due to how Scorbunny acts in the trailer and appears to have a sporty attitude.

Grookey represents Cricket and their little wooden stick they have would become a cricket bat. If I were to guess they could probably gain either the Fighting or Rock type from this.

Scorbunny represents Football (or Soccer for us uncultured Americans) due to their apparent love for running and focus on using their feet. While they could stay pure Fire, the focus on speed in football makes me think they’ll gain the Electric type if they go this route.

Finally Sobble represents Water Polo. I can’t seem to find any real reason for this beyond it’s a water sport that was invented in the UK, but it does kind of look like they’re wearing a swimming cap. Not sure what type they’d gain from this.

The Cryptid Theory says that each of the final starters would be based off a cryptid related to the animals they represent. The only reasoning behind this one is the fact that the region is based off the UK which has a lot of fictional creatures associated with it.

Grookey would become a Sasquatch and their wooden stick would become a heavy club. They could probably gain the Ground type or stay pure Grass.

Scorbunny would become a Jackalope, growing a pair of antlers. They could probably stay pure Fire but a Fairy typing could be nice. Or it could grow a pair of wings and become a Skvader and be part Flying. Or get both and be a Wolpertinger with a Dragon type to confuse everyone.

Sobble would become the Loch Ness Monster. A popular cryptid from Scotland, Nessie is known for being elusive which fits in with Sobble’s ability to turn invisible. Ghost or Psychic type seems to be the most likely choices if they go down this route.

The RPG Theory is actually a continuation of a theory from the previous two generations. It states that each starter represents a typical archetype in a fantasy role playing game; a tank, a support, and a DPS (Damage Per Second).

Grookey would be the Support this gen. Delphox and Primarina were the previous supports, being a Wizard and Bard respectively. Meaning the next has to be the Grass starter. Grookey would probably be a Druid with his stick becoming a magical staff. We see that they do cause plants to grow around them in the trailer. They could either be pure Grass or be part Fairy.

Scorbunny would take the role of the DPS. Greninja and Decidueye, a Ninja/Rouge and Ranger, were the previous DPS starters. With Scorbunny’s focus on speed and using its feet, I can see them becoming a Monk with a focus on swift kicks. Unfortunately this means they most likely would gain the Fighting type. But perhaps their kicks could have a paralyzing affect and still gain that Electric type I’m hoping for?

Sobble would become the Tank. Chesnaught and Incineroar, a Paladin/Knight and Barbarian (they fight dirty), were the Tanks previously. The last Tank class is a Warrior/Fighter so Fighting type would be an obvious choice. I think Dragon would also be a good choice for them though.

Now all of these are just speculation so there’s no guarantee they’ll be right. None of them might be right or all of them could. A Cricket playing Druidic Sasquatch would certainly be an interesting Pokemon!

Ghastly, Haunter, Gengar X Fem Reader Pt. 1 Pokehuman x Reader

This is a request by Dat Awesome Person on Quotev. Thank you soo much for the request and I hope I did well with my very first requested story. ^_^

The key fit perfectly in the keyhole that belonged to the plain dark brown wooden door of the average apartment building. "Isn't this amazing, Espeon?" I twirled with excitement inside my newly bought flat. It had been exactly a week since I, (First Name) (Last Name), had been living alone in this very apartment and I still can't get over the fact that it is mine. Espeon mewed shyly before stepping into the flat and closing the door behind her. Espeon has always been a shy and scared pokemon, even as an Evee she was extremely shy. I sighed as I laughed at my scared psychic type; "seriously, Espeon; I just don't get what scares you in this place. It's a normal flat exactly like the we lived in with my parents." I rolled my eyes and decided to go into the kitchen to grab me a snack. Espeon seemed to be on edge the whole time we were in the kitchen. "Will ya chillax, Espeon? You're probably not used to this place yet. You'll love it afterwards, I promise." I rubbed my pokemon's head as i sat down and ate some leftover pizza from last night. My eyebrows scrunched in confusion when I noticed my psychic pokemon staring intently at something behind me. "What is it, Espeon?" I asked as I glanced behind me but found nothing except the usual, sink and the curtains above the sink swaying slightly from the wind. "Is it the dark or the curtains? Please say the dark because being afraid of curtains is just too weird for you." I joked but Espeon seemed too immersed in her own little world. It was obvious that Espeon was frightened, but she seemed too afraid to even run away. I have to admit I was a little worried but brushed it off as one of Espeon's moments; they usually consist of the said psychic type to stare intently at something for a long period of time trying to decipher if she should be afraid or learn to cope with it. She once did it with a new Teddiursa doll that I received as a gift, the next day the stuffed doll just disappeared. I asked Espeon about it but she played dumb with me. I walked out of the kitchen after cleaning up the dishes and sat on the living room couch. I flipped through the channels when a yelp was heard and my pink pokemon ran up to me and hid beside me under the cushions. "What is wrong with you, Espeon?" I asked as I petted the shivering psychic. She mentioned for me to look in the kitchen and I did; as always there was nothing out of place. "Do the curtains frighten you that much? I think you need a nap." I rolled my eyes as I was getting annoyed from her actions. I went back to flipping through the channels when I yawned. "Time for bed, Espeon." I smiled sleepily while turning the television off; Espeon walked to my bedroom to sleep on my bed as usual. I walked towards the bathroom when I heard a thud from my bedroom. It was a very quiet thud but I was certain that I heard it. I paused my actions for a second before I saw Espeon running out of the bedroom and under the couch. I grabbed my baseball bat that i keep as a weapon and slowly walked towards my bedroom. I creaked open the door and turned on the lights to find.......absolutely nothing. "Huh...I guess I imagined it." I brushed the sound off thinking maybe that Espeon knocked something and the sound spooked her. "You do realize that I am supposed to be protected by you, right? You are the pokemon with the psychic powers while I am a powerless human." I told Espeon before I went in the bathroom to get ready for bed. After I was done with the bathroom I saw Espeon pointing at something behind me. I turned around and saw that my toothbrush was on the floor. "Ha ha, very funny, Espeon." I rolled my eyes before picking the toothbrush up and placing it in the cup on the counter. Espeon mewed as her eyes widened at something behind me. I sighed and looked behind me to find my tooth paste on the ground. "Seriously, Espeon; cut it out! I am not in the mood for these jokes." I said in an annoyed tone before I picked up the tooth paste and placed it on the counter with my toothbrush. I sighed and closed the bathroom door before I picked up my pokemon and headed to bed. While I was walking towards my bedroom, I could feel as if someone was pulling my hair. I ignored it, thinking it was Espeon trying to scare me; but the pulling kept on occurring until i sighed and sternly told the pokemon in my arms to stop. Espeon grumpily mewed which signified that it wasn't her. "Right, it's the ghost that lives here in the flat." I joked with a slight hint of anger in my voice. "Good night, Espeon." I said before finally dozing off to the land of dreams. The next few days were...how should I put this...very weird. That's simple enough, I guess. At first I thought my pokemon was going crazy...until I started noticing the strange things she was seeing. My things were being misplaced, things were disappearing from the house, I could feel something poking me from time to time, my friends were always running away out of fear whenever I have them over and when I ask about it they just don't want to speak about it. I thought I was going crazy with Espeon, until I met someone on the streets and she approached me and offered to help. "Good morning, (Y/N)" I smiled at the familiar black haired woman as I ushered her inside my flat. "Good morning, Melissa." I replied nervously. "How long have you been experiencing these weird phenomenons?" Melissa asked while she looked around my flat. "More than a week, give or take." I answered as I picked up Espeon. "Hmmmm; I am sorry, (Y/N); may you stand outside the flat just for a few minutes?" "Oh...o..okay..." I walked out of my flat with Espeon in my arms and closed the door after I was outside. My heartbeat raced when I heard bangs and a couple of muffled voices. "What the..." I was interrupted when Melissa opened the door and told me to come in. I followed her inside and both Espeon and I gasped loudly and the floating purple ectoplasm in my living room. "(Y/N); I'd like you to meet Ghastly. Ghastly here is the reason for all the weird things happening to you and Espeon.He took a liking to you and followed you to your flat and decided to play with you. He says that he enjoys seeing your reactions every time he messes with your stuff or spooks Espeon." Melissa explained. I was speechless; a ghost pokemon made me question my own sanity? A Ghastly made me believe that I was going crazy because he took a liking to me? I was weirded out and freaked out from the whole thing when Melissa spoke.

Hi! I’m going to give you a full team, since I thought of multiple Pokemon pretty quickly!

♡ Minior reminds me of you, symbolically! It has a plain, dark exterior. But its core is bright & colorful! Just be careful to not leave it outside of its pokeball without its shell for too long!

♡ Noibat is a cute purple bat! Its favorite food is fruit & it can emit very strong soundwaves. Its friendly, but somewhat timid.

♡ Wynaut is an odd Pokemon! It has goofy mannerisms.This Pokemon shares the same love for fruit that Noibat has! It has a bright & friendly personality. It never attacks, only counters the attacks of others. This Pokemon would be the baby of the team & will need extra care.

♡ Pumpkaboo is thought to guide spirits of the dead to where they belong at night. It becomes very active around dusk. It has quite a spooky lore, being a huge part of the Pokemon-World Halloween holiday. But its personality is not as scary as old folk tales would have you believe. Besides being a ghost/grass, it can also learn fire-type attacks thanks to the natual flame it burns within its body!

♡ Gothita is a Pokemon that does a lot of observation. It apparently sees something no one else can see. It can become a little obsessed & disconnected from its surroundings in return. But besides this, this Pokemon has a big personality! It can be very charming, but be sure to not spoil Gothita too much, or it will start thinking its the top of the pecking order, and not you! It bonds very intensely with its trainer, nonetheless.

♡ Houndour is another Pokemon with a spooky reputation & appearance. But it’s an extremely loyal & obedient Pokemon. It will help you in anything it can & will prove to be the most level-headed of your team. It’s also quite intelligent!
