There’s a wonderful moment, and no one might notice, but when Jim, as Michael, lashes out at Michael Benjamin as Bernard and sends him to the kitchen, and Michael Benjamin walks by Andrew Rannells and you see Andrew look up at him and they have this little gentle touch, just a passing moment of tenderness. It’s beautiful.

Behind the Scenes - The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End (Part 21)
Excerpts from The Writer’s Tale - The Final Chapter
From Russell T Davies to Benjamin Cook, Tuesday 11 March 2008
I’ve just seen the Dalek Crucible rushes. Davros’ torso!! That shot is marvellous, and alarming. Oh, you can see panic in the air, the way there are so many single takes. But it’s fantastic. There’s Sarah Jane, and Rose, and Jackie, and two Doctors watching Catherine Tate save the universe!  I think those drugs went deeper into my head than I ever realized [ RTD had Chicken Pox while writing these episodes ].  The best bits are the explosions, when all the women scream like girls - and Jack too, probably!  (Hey, was everyone getting on, or was there companion rivalry?)
I’m excited by Davros. Very excited. A much cleverer mind than the Master, I think. While I wrote the Master as a genius in Series Three, he’s fatally flawed by his jealousy/hatred/love of the Doctor; that’s what allows the Doctor to defeat him, in the end, because it’s so personal. Much less of that with Davros. In their big confrontation Davros’ key tactic is to stop the Doctor from speaking. Because that’s how the Doctor works. He talks himself out of things.  All that wit and banter and intelligence. Deprive him of that, and the stakes get higher.
From Benjamin Cook to Russell T Davies, Tuesday 11 March 2008
>>was everyone getting on, or was there companion rivalry?<< They were getting on better than I’d have ever thought possible

The Bob's Burgers Movie
Tumblr media
Movies watched in 2024
The Bob's Burgers Movie (2022, USA)
Directors: Loren Bouchard & Bernard Derriman
Writers: Loren Bouchard & Nora Smith
Mini-review:
I've been a casual watcher of Bob's Burgers for a while now, and I felt like it was finally time to see the movie. The show's stories have always been pretty low-key and low-stakes, so I was curious to find out how they would translate that into a feature length film. And they actually pulled it off! Sure, this time the plot has a bigger scope, but it still feels plausible within the show's universe. And most importantly, the movie keeps all the humor and heart that makes the show so lovable and compelling. I must admit it was a bit weird to see these characters and settings with big-budget animation and film-style cinematography, but once you get used to that, it feels as warm and genuine as ever. To sum up, if you have ever enjoyed this show (even as a casual watcher like me), then you can't miss out on the movie version.

Disney Remake Fancasting Part 1
We all agree that Disney live-action remakes are cheap and unnecessary cashgrabs. However, it is still fun to imagine who would play these characters when their movies are readapted. I tried to think of several movies that Disney has not yet remade and think up suitable casts for them. Here are a few of my ideas.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tika Sumpter as Tiana
It's only a matter of time before this beloved princess film gets remade, so might as well get an oustanding actress to play the iconic princess Tiana. Tika Sumpter is an underrated onscreen actress, however she has shown on multiple occasions that she is capable of portraying warm-hearted, head-strong, and ambitious characters. She also looks like a real-life Disney Princess to boot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Noah Schnapp as Arthur Pendragon
A Sword in the Stone remake is already on Disney's radar, and their more than likely to cast an already well-renound teen actor to portray young King Arthur. Although Noah Schnapp often gets overshined by his Stranger Things co-stars, his performance as Will Byers is nothing to scoff at. Of course, he may have to practice an English accent for the role.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
H. Jon Benjamin as Bernard
Assuming Disney would use CGI mice for a hypothetical remake, I believe Jon Benjamin's voice would be a more than suitable successor for Bob Newhart's performance. Benjamin possesses a similar deadpan, yet warm toned voice that made Newhart's role as Bernard so charming. Plus, hearing Benjamin's voice come out of an adorable cartoon mouse would be very amusing to say the least.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Colin O'Donoghue as Robin Hood
Whether Disney decides to go the traditional route with a human cast, or give it the Lion King remake treatment, we can all agree there are very specific factors when it comes to casting Robin Hood. He must be cunning, he must be charming, he must be just a little devious, and above all else he must be hot. Colin O'Donoghue fits all those criteria. Whether he'd be acting on screen or voicing a CGI fox, O'Donoghue would slay in this role.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
David Tennant as Prince John
David Tennant is a very versatile actor, capable of playing both heroes and villains spectacularly. Prince John is a villain that can be both humorous and intimidating at times. David Tennant has shown time and again that he's able to shift between laughable and terrifying with ease, which would make him a great fit for the pathetic Phony King of England.

Chambre d’ Echo no. 9, 2017
Chambre d’ Echo, 2012-17. Acrylic, polyester canvas, steel, wood, cardboard, cotton thread, plexiglass, screw clamps and glass beads
Only one element of the work moves: a cylinder made of piano string rotates around its axis. A phrase by René Char, “ONLY THE EYES ARE STILL ABLE TO UTTER A CRY“ written during the resistance following the dramatic murder of poet Roger Bernard before his eyes. The words cut from mirror are repeated in infinite reflections, is the key to the work. The visual echo of the phrase produces the paradox that the cry is a visual effect. (extract from the Chambre d’écho catalogue, Château de Sucy, 2019 – Bernard Moninot)

The Bob's Burgers Movie

The Bob's Burgers Movie    [trailer]
The Belchers try to save the restaurant from closing as a sinkhole forms in front of it, while the kids try to solve a mystery that could save their family's restaurant.
I've never seen an episode of the series. But I feel to be familiar with its characters by seeing countless gif posts here on tumblr over the years. While it's unlikely I will ever find the time to watch a whole season, I used this opportunity to finally meet the Belchers.
Turns out they really are a very lovable family. And so is this movie with its low-key animation and story that perfectly fits the limited ambition of the film.
Naturally, I loved all funny store names.
Even though the lyrics are amusing, and they didn't really bother me, I could've done without the musical numbers.
