sometimes when i say i “ship” something i mean im invested in these characters relationship and how their personalities will compliment/clash to make each other better/worse and im obsessed with the way their storylines intertwine with each other. and other times when i say i “ship” something i mean i find the idea of these characters dating hilarious and i dont care about their dynamic beyond a few memes. like an actual ship vs a crackship.

but sometimes i see a ship and think “oh thats funny” but then i find out people actually ship it and have written 80k words of meta on why the ship is Good, Actually. but when i read it i am overwhelmed by the They Would Not Fucking Say That-ness of it all. and in recognizing how They Would Not Fucking Say That i am forced to think about the ship and its dynamic in detail to decide what They Would Fucking Say. and by the end i can’t even crackship it anymore. because once you think about it too hard the ship stops being funny it just starts being bad

• Alastor is cannomically aroace. and incase someone doesn't know what that means it means he doesn't as in does not have any kind of physical nor romantic attraction to anyone. [edited this bc someome corrected my definition]

• people shipping him platonically is fantastic! but romantic is just not going to happen.

"Oh but people ship non-cannon ships all the time!" "oh but you ship huskerdust. what if that never happens???" well first of all angel and husk are not canonically aroace. angel is cannonically queer and husk is pan. Alastor however is cannonically aroace. its not that its not going to happen in the show its the fact that aroace people hardly ever get representation in media and the hazbin fandom has been taking the respresentation Al brings away by saying and/or drawing alastor×lucifer (or alastor×vox) fanart ESPESCIALLY NSFW stuff.

Not to mention aroace people get the MOST hate even from other LGBTQIA+ people. people genuinely dont understand how someone could just not have romantic and sexual interest in anyone so people just thing "oh they want to be different." It's just gross to see the fandom taking about a character that is very open about not being sexual so heavily sexualized by a fandom that is supposed to be inclusive. that should count for alastor being aroace.

edit: to be clear im not generalizing. im speaking specifically about al. in the show he is very clearly not interested in anyone romanticall or sexually. im not speaking about aroace people as a whole. ik its a spectrum. im saying specifically alastor is not romantically attracted not sexually attracted to anyone. im saying that its wrong to take away that kind of representation from the people who do feel the same as alastor.

also the only reason i feel like this is an issue is because by sexualizing alastor specifically you are erasing his sexuality (or lack there of) its not that "oh but if Viv says hes aroace he is and we cant change that" its the fact that canon and fanon are different, however fannon can blur the line of what canon and not for newer fans of the show. thats how fandoms work. like people in creepy pasta are always like "omg ticci toby <3 waffles and hes so silly and hot ^_^" but hes actually a traumatized emo kid who brutally offed his dad then lit his neighborhood on fire. or like sally face fans white washing travis. hes native but still a lot of fanart has him pastey asf.

why is there so much ship content between sato kido and kano?? are they not adoptive siblings?? theres even some in semi canon (i think) contents like in anthologies too,, i mean not surprised it exists since weird people are in every fandom but its talked so casually here

with momo and hibiya too actually! because of the huge age gap you would think it wouldn't be such a casual ship but it somehow is?? as far as i seen anyways

oh man lollll nah i dont mind. fair question and it's much better to have an answer to this

im putting it under the cut bc it turned out kinda long and into a rant, and also to warn i mention the themes suggested in the ask (incest, age gaps)

basically it's no secret that in japanese media, incest and age gaps are widely normalized even today so just imagine in 2013 when kagepro was at its peak.

back then, kido and kano specifically were a WIDELY popular ship. here's the thing with the weird kano and kido (and seto too but mainly kano and kido) shipping, aside from what i said abt normalized incest and shit. kano and kido (and seto) being siblings is actually... sort of a spoiler? it's not revealed early on.

kano and kido are presented as 2 kids the same age living together and having different names. and they purposefully stop acting like siblings. SO it doesnt register until you get into their backstories. they're both adopted into the same family when theyre like... 7 or 8, and were friends before becoming siblings so people were able to use this excuse: "OHHH THEYRE MORE CHILDHOOD FRIENDS"

but like..... they live together as siblings for YEARS and to be honest im sure 99% of people watch the song mvs FIRST which u can binge in 1 afternoon and if ur watching with any sort of actual interest and attention, you WILL see kano and kido as part of the tateyama family in ayano's theory of happiness. not to mention the anime came out in 2014 which im also sure 99% of kagepro fans have seen. so to me that was always an excuse if it came from a very dedicated fan though i do understand it if it's from a casual enjoyer, like they truly didn't catch that they're siblings

when i joined the fandom i was 13, didnt know eng or japanese, and thought mekatrio childhood friends made total sense for some good 6 months into the fandom until I realised properly. a few months ago, i discovered a very close friend of mine had a kagepro phase in 2014 or something and told me he really shipped kano and kido and when i told him they're siblings he was like WHAT!!!!!!!

and another thing abt kano and kido. they're indubitably the queerest characters. THEY LOOK THE FUCKING GAYEST. there is Something abt pushing the gay characters together?? kido is constantly mistaked for a guy. kano the poor thing had ANOTHER popular ship going for him with ayano because people decided he is that way to shintaro because he actually had a crush on ayano. yeah. this was the fucking consensus with kano, shintaro and ayano. like i mentioned i DONT KNOW japanese and only ever read the translations of the novels and i also dont Know what jin was thinking when writing kano and shintaro. But. dear lord it reads fucking homosexual my dude. jin does this by accident a lot though. look at kido and momo. momo calling kido beautiful 1000 times but she's like Well as a woman i am jealous i wish i was that pretty. bruuuh ok anyways moving on Ill GET to jin again in a second.

like you said, semi official stuff like the anthologies are very heavy on this ship and also.... sorry, the manga which is an official media. is Heavily into this ship. for jin's stance on it, i am not sure. i do think he laughs it off but he NEVER intended to write them that way. in the seventh novel theres a whole bit where kido's telling kano you shouldve never hidden this from me im your sister we are family. even shintaro who is the pov ur reading from is like wow what a nice brother and sister AND THATS THE SECOND TO LAST NOVEL WHICH BY THEN THE SHIP WAS SUPER POPULAR SO TO ME THAT WAS JIN'S WAY OF REMINDING EVERYONE THEYRE SIBLINGS. personally i think jin truthfully intended to write kano and kido as siblings but doesnt care people ship them otherwise he wouldnt have had the manga written by someone who shipped them

so basically what happened. kagepro was confusing and people sometimes missed they are siblings. in japanese media its super normalized. it is 2013 so here it is also normalized in fandom spaces. fanart ensues, even official or semi official content teases it, and yeah. boom its popular

another big part of it was, EVERYONE GETS A PARTNER!!!! kagepro content has A LOT of Shipping Pieces if that makes sense. idk what to call it but like god, pixiv entries with 1 shinaya, 1 harutaka, 1 setomary.... and 1 hibiya and momo and 1 kano and kido. god awful. if any golden year kagepro fans follow me they will KNOW what im talking about.

now that i mentioned it. hibiya and momo. ough. idk man. people were properly weird with this one. because with kano and kido they at least made up a damn excuse. with hibiya and momo there was nothing. but the thing is, jin is entirely to blame here. absolutely fucking disgusting bro. unlike with kano and kido, with hibiya and momo he actively wrote it. in the third novel their chapters together or any of hibiya's chapters are actual fucking torture to read. i wont go into details if u havent read it but like there are Reasons i never recommend kagepro to people.

its good to give jin proper respect he IS the creator of my favorite characters ever in the whole wide world and the writer of the story that makes me the happiest ever in the history of life. but. that doesn't mean i dont hold him accountable for being weird as hell in his writing because he absolutely is

back in the early days of this blog i had my very own Gets Send Deaths Threats arc by some people who shipped these guys or people who were mad i criticized jin (i always suspected it was like. the same 1 or 2 people. with a lot of time in their hands) soooo honestly answering this activated my fight of flight a little bit but tbh i havent seen Any content here on tumblr (i do have everything blacklisted to hell and back) or gotten ANY rude messages here in years, so i think we're good👍

I JUST. to preface this i KNOW that amanda canonically refers to john as her father, but that ddef doesnt make the relationship any better fdgkfng butOKAY OKAY. HEAR ME OUT

it pisses me OFF how (outside of that dumbass batch of ppl that ship them ...) fans REALLY tried to make travis out to be some sort of uncle figure for laura and thats just ..... not how things work? kdfgnf no matter HOW you spin it, their relationship will NEVER be healthy, unless you wanna have something so DEVOID of canon, which is just annoying. like. at that point just make up your own characters DSFKGNFDGK LIKE. travis and laura will not and can NEVER have a relationship where things arent icky or bad. and if you say otherwise youre just too indulged in fanon and i recommend playinmg the fucking game again

but the same goes for amanda and john yk... it jjust. their relationship is MEANT ot be one of toxicity and whatnot. its not MEANT to be healthy. but (and i see this a LOT) ppl love to paint a picture that shows them in this normal and loving relationship and to me its jsut ???? dont get me wrong i ENJOY seeing these characters in happy and normal contexts, but sometimes its just.. it becomes so far from canon that it becomes almost .... ignorant? like youre purposely avoiding the canon material and making things that only YOU wanna see? if that makes sense? which, once again, there is no problem with. i of course indulge in stuff like this from time to time as well but its just .... this is fucking saw we're talking abt. its not meant to be happy or w/e

the only reason WHY this relationship exists is bc of the saw world and the in world contexts. outside of it (if everyone and everything were cookie cutter and happy and not Bad) there wouldnt be a need for john to have amanda and for amanda to have john. bc in a "happy" case, john woudlnt have lost his child. and amanda woudlnt have a shitty relationship w/ her father. the NEED for them both wouldnt exist if everythign were ideal

ok back to travis and laura . like. first things first travis being a cop and locking her and max up for 2 months already deters them from having a good and meaningful and normal relationship lmao . but at the end of chapter 9? he manipulates himself and his situation to get laura to help him in his family bullshit. aka . killing a person she knows absolutely nothing about. shes not a shitty person, so of COURSE shes goingn to say "sure" to the person tthats practically begging for her help. and in this line of events, she can even be killed! like! and travis should fucking know this! hes willing to use this girl hes traumatized for his own gain! to solve HIS problems! its fucked up

and do i even need to say how john used a girl hes traumatized for his own gain? its written all over the movies brother. and in canon, he DOES end up killing her! he leads her to her demise! yes i kn ow hoffman's note is essentially what lead amanda to her demise but. john is the one who put this all in motion and who wanted to test her again despite beating her test in the original movie. and for making it through the bullshit of saw ii

but yeah. long story short. ppl making it seem like that these 2 duos have good familial relationships is so just errrghhhh . in laura and travis' case, this is NOT the answer to being a normal person and not shipping them. they shouldnt have a relationship at all realistically lmao. and the same goes for john and amanda, even if amanda canonically relies on and sees john as a ffather figure. if it werent for their pasts, they wouldnt need each other

basically what im saying is that. travis and john traumatize these girls then eventually uses them to further their own agendas, which get them (or can get them) killed. and yet fandom LOOOVES to see them as this normal healthy familial dynamic and it pisses me off and and and

What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? i love a happy ending!! my series Odysseus in White Silk is probably the happiest ending, and in such an undeserved way hahaha it's so very AU because i was sad after s1 of the show and just wanted them all (and armandaniel) to live happily ever after

8. Do you get hate on fics? i dont think i ever have, but i tend to read comments in good faith too, so maybe someone out there is annoyed that i interpreted their vague dislike comment as a genuine comment or something, idk. in general though, i'll say no

If so, what kind? yes but i dont post that often, idk if there's a particular kind, but generally it tends to be a little rougher than is probably appropriate without discussion in real-life situations, but also very...idk my friend described it as very tender, like theyre very clearly in love. which is so funny considering that that kind of tenderness irl gives me fucking hives lmfao

What’s the craziest one you’ve written? oh wow, not in a long time. i do have a wip sitting around rn that's a crossover between london spy and cloud atlas, which is really crazy until you remember that ben whishaw is in both london spy and the cloud atlas movie lol. and cloud atlas is already about weird reincarnations and parallel worlds and stuff, so it isnt too out-there.

What are your writing strengths? ooh, i'm not really sure! i get a lot of comments mentioning characters' voices and/or personalities, so i would say maybe that!!! i also feel that i'm fairly good at mimicking an author's writing style when i want to (notably, i do not mimic anne rice when writing vc fic, lol)

What are your writing weaknesses? editing for sure. i have at least a hundred fics sitting on my hard drive fully or almost-fully written that i just need to edit. but i would simply rather die than do all of that. it's also why my whole merlin fic got put on pause while i went down the vc rabbithole, because i just can't bring myself to go edit the next chapters lol

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? hmm, i think it's usually unnecessary and comes off as a bit silly. that said, i did do it once (maybe excessively) in Daniel Molloy, Time Bandit (1984 daniel ends up in 1794 theatre des vampires, it's more of a character study than a time travel fic) BUT, let me defend myself -- i did it because daniel doesnt understand french, it's his pov, and he's incredibly confused and distraught for most of the fic. i felt like the dialogue being in french conveyed this sort of "daniel does not belong in this time/place" vibes. but, also, my french is...a little rough. so i'm sure it's an annoying fic for french readers lmao

Favourite fic you’ve written? ok, i have three different answers for this. the fic i think is the best, objectively, in terms of writing and content: The Story of Dani [...] (r63 devil's minion from armand's pov, starting with lestat's house). the fic i am the proudest of, mostly because it was my first "big" fic (it's funny now, bc it's only 41k) and i feel like i grew a lot as a writer while working on it, and i'm still happy with it: The Face of God (les mis pov javert, character study from childhood). the fic i have the most fun with and think about almost 24/7: Arthur Pendragon, Long May She Reign (r63 merthur, canon divergence, this is like a 4-part series that's currently over 300k lmao)

Your post abt how male victim sa is treated as a joke in media really resonates w/ me. like i dont watch drama tv shows, i watch like sitcom/comedy stuff and so its extra apparent to me in a way?

Because while in a drama tv show you can have both male and female sa victims, sitcoms will rarely if ever try to make jokes about female sa (or at least now anyway, i dont watch older sitcoms) they absolutely do make male sa jokes.

For example, in Parks and Rec theres this episode where April and Andy make a lot of doctors appointments in one day and in one part Andy is listing out all the doctors they've seen and Andy says like "One guy looked at my weiner, touched it, that was weird" and April says "And that guy wasn't even a doctor" and Andy says "...What" with an uncomfortable look on his face and then it just moves on.

And its supposed to be a funny haha moment but everytime I see that clip I get really uncomfortable bc like its never clarified if she was kidding or not but also why would you joke abt your husband being sa'd???

And thats just one example, theres plenty of others. (The whole thing with Barney and Rhonda French in HIMYM makes me super uncomfortable even tho its played as consensual, it gives me bad vibes)

But it feels like no one ever really cares to talk abt it, so it was nice to see someone bring it up. Sorry for the long ask 😅

The comedy I watch is normally yes about equal to Parks and Rec or Brooklyn 99 and yes, there's a lot of jokes that fly under the radar because they victimize one group or another that isn't seen as "in danger". The amount of prison rape and prostate exam (hinthint wink wink not performed by a doctor though teehee) jokes really stand out the more you pay attention to it. And maybe it IS time to pay attention to it, because clearly this is a symptom of a bigger issue, one that endangers everyone.

Going back to stuff I watch more of because I haven't seen more than a clip or two of HIMYM, but I remember when I was watching Buffy with my ex [then boyfriend] and he pointed out that Xander had a really good reason not to like Faith and it's because Faith rapes him (forced to penetrate) and how Xander really... never seemed to forgive her for it and always seemed uncomfortable around her after. And while I was not part of the fandom during the show's heyday, being that I am a relatively recent watcher only maybe about 6 or 7 years ago, he told me it was very frustrating to him that the fandom seemed to focus more on the wrongdoing of Spike's *attempt* to rape Buffy, than the *actual rape* Faith did to Xander.

Even with my Witcher example, I'm seeing people shipping Yennefer and Jaskier because they had a moderately improved friendship in season two, while not at ALL touching on the fact that Jaskier's first memory of her is a blatant sexual assault and maybe that's why he's increasingly aggressive to her every time they see each other for the remainder of season one and when seeing her again in season two. It's more than "he's somewhat jealous of her closeness with Geralt" when I know for a fact she pinned and grabbed him by the penis and I wouldn't fault anyone for not liking someone who grabbed their genitals without consent. I'm not yucking anyone's yum but it's really frustrating to me to see people skate right by that.

Charlie reigned supreme- like really and truly so many blogs and so, so much content was Charlie Charlie Charlie, everyday, all the time and I mean he still is insanely popular but definitely back in the day Charlie in the show and of the cast was easily the most popular, like it felt like 7/10 posts were about him. Glenn was next in line but I do distinctly remember Kaitlin and Rob didn't have as much content about them, at a certain point I kinda was the Kaitlin Olson tag, that's not me being up myself I just used to be in her tag constantly and it'd be a lot of posts in a row of just me- the girls of the series def didnt always get the love they should and I'm not really sure that's changed much ☠ But yeah this was also around the time that everyone was also going gaga about Pacific Rim so that def made Charlie even more popular too.

Macdennis has always, always been a popular pairing but their popularity 100% has skyrocketed the past few years, and I mean SKYROCKETED. Like they're on par with some wildly popular mlm ships nowadays and it's lowkey so funny to see em in the ring with like. destiel 😂 now when I go in the tag it seems half the posts feature mac and dennis, which is notable to me bc Mac especially was kinda... Unloved is not the right way to phrase it bc fans have always loved him but Rob/Mac def didn't get /as/ much love back in the day. Like people often spoke of him as the weakest character but after season 13 I think he's gained more appreciation.

Fans have def gotten much bigger on theories and stuff these days, I'm sure they had em back then too but it wasn't as prevalent and none particularly stand out, it was usually just the "X characters are secretly sleeping together" type beat. I also remember a popular theory that everyone was going to die in the inevitable series finale but then the show never got cancelled and I dont know what that was about?

Reddit has always been messy and there def was a pretty big us vs them type vibe between sunny fans back then- though it was less reddit vs tumblr and more "straight dude bros" vs everyone else like I remember so many posts being like "Ugh straight dude bros don't get the show" I probably made some of those posts 😂 Lots of "Mac isn't actually gay" too which is very, very funny in hindsight- No one ever thought they'd canonize his sexuality.

Ummm... Probably the most notable thing to me tho is seeing how popular the cast has become, like 8 years ago Danny was the only "Big name" Like the media absolutely spoke of the show as these no name people and Danny Devito. I mean that was not totally the case for Charlie, he was becoming more and more popular and gaining traction in the mainstream with pacific rim and the likes but with Glenn, Kaitlin and Rob they were definitely not super well known outside Big always sunny fans so seeing them go from that to Rob being besties with Ryan Reynolds and stuff has honestly been super interesting and funny. Like I remember posting rob and kaitlins wedding pictures and getting so many people going WAIT THEYRE MARRIED?? it was hilarious to see the transition.

Yeah those are probably the biggest changes I can think of- it's gotten more popular which explains most of it, shipping has def become a much bigger thing as well, ships were pretty chill back then, there wasn't too much fic or art so thats different now :)

As game Lambert #1 fan 5ever the Nerflix Lambert sucks but not bcs of what people think? (I didnt read book of elves I love and respect myself sometimes )

As in game Lambert is kinda fun in that he got actually defined compared to Novels and Hexer where he did not exist ad character proper. He is deeply mean and sarcasric person, being willing to chew out his closest friends and enemies alike. He isnt as morally concerned abt stuff as geralt and when someone asks him to kill a monster he'd do it. Fuck he'd even go as far as use Axii to make two bandits die in horrific way. This is after all his lot in his shitty miserable life. He hates witchery and witchers and the very concept of this much suffering ("But you kept the table" he says furious to Vesemir as they stand above screaming Uma). His attitude is just such a complete 360° from Geralt' silent acceptance of what was done to them. It truly becomes the only voice of like hey fuck what happened to us, fuck it all to hell. Hes an utter fucking dickhead and hell provoke people for no reason (talkinf abt geralt and triss in front of phillipa for no reason) (i deadass dont think he would fuck up yens stuff on purpose tho #;#&#&)

His main core personal element is revenge. In his short appearence in w1 he proclaims desire to slaughter salamandra for killing Leo. In W3 he goes on massive revenge rampage spanning CONTINENTS for a guy we dont know (and thats pretty cool to me, implying he has adventures outside geralt, both him and eskel). He says his first action after he left Kaer Morhen was to find and kill his dad ( and him being sad he couldnt save his mother his life is all just empty revenges that will never fill the holes of people hell miss).

But also main Core element of Lambert is also love as cheesy as it sounds. He cared deeply for Leo and Aiden and even his own mom. After Triss. Got conked out by a mage guy in witcher 1 he cared for her and watched over her (they were hardcore inplying shipping which is funnt but whatever). He literally puts his life on line dor Ciri and Geralt. The thing is he is dickhead but he will do Everythinf for those few peoples he has left in his life.

The Point is games being games and larger allowed Lambert to have depth and nuance. He is imo one of the most interesting and coolest game characters. Netflix Lambert however did not have the time for variety of reasons to get that.

One is Lambert is very minor person in books. Second is that the show didnt...realy care abt witchers past vesemir maybe. So he wasnt a focus. In the end what we get is disappoitninf character not helped by the fact most witchers in netflix are cannon fodders for baba yaga.

ONE issue that I have is people saying Lambert was a dick to Ciri and thats OOC. While I cant speak from the POV of books (altho my friend who did read them say he is sexist), from POV of game thats untrue. In fact I believe game Lambert would VERY much be a fucking dick to Ciri fron a start. It doesnt even need to have sexist colouring to it. This dude HATES witchering. He hates the mutagenesis and the pain of it all, the destiny in it. I firmly believe he wouldnt be OK with a bew trainee and guess what? While he didnt live through instructors not giving fucks abt new witchers because like 1/20 live to become witchers he LIVED through it. On his skin. I firmly believe Lambert being DICKHEAD to ciri at first is nit only a whiff of the complex game!Lambert but a decent start of its own standalone character.

In witcher 1 also wheb tou tell him Leo died he laments he "was not ready". Leo. Just like ciri never got his mutagens (take this with grain of salt because leos whole character is weird tm). So him being an miserable instructor who will push you until you cry is in character ingame. This guys has ten layers of issue.

What Netflix misses is the fact we dont SEE lambert getting to his relationship Ciri where we see rhem albeit briefly in game (willing to fight to death for her). We just have this awkward jump from utter hostility to them beinf kinda pals after baba yaga fight. In the end netflix lambert is just. Boring.

The one space I put a * on is one I didn't feel like I could fulllyyy mark because it's a tricky subject. Because tbh i have not really seen many serious character studies for hikakao. most people who write for hikakao do it for yaoiz or for a dramatic (usually unrequited) love story, WHICH IS FINE BTW, I love twincest yaoi as much as the next guy and im also a sucker for angst, but the fact is I've not come into very many cases where people try to dissect their relationship and so it's hard for me to concretely say "Hey, I don't really agree how they're portrayed in the fan base"

That being said, there areee hikakao tropes I'm not a fan of & don't agree with, such as Kaoru hating haruhi out of jealousy (not saying he would be incapable of being jealous, just that i don't think he'd ever hate haruhi, he likes her a lot guys), Kaoru being very emo depressed (yes he is depressed/anxious and tbh I think the main issue here is less people write him with depression but more that people who write it tend to write it in a very uh. .. wattpad style if you know what i mean. which again is fine, fanfic is an outlet, but i just dont agree at all with that portrayal), hikaru being generally ooc (iykyk) and prob some other stuff i failed to mention. however a lot of this seems to be more of an old school ff.net issue, as i see it less and less on ao3, which is nice, but still.

It doesn't really help that I have a very specific outlook on their relationship that doesn't neatly fall into society's per-defined labels for a "romantic relationship" or "platonic friendship" or even what it means to be siblings. And a lot of that - how i view their relationship - is shaped by the way they themselves grew up. they have a very complicated history and even in their present, it is showing an era in their adolescence that includes a lot of change both to their lives and their outlook on it. such things will lead to an equally complicated relationship that can't really be described simply as "they are in love <3" like yes i think they are soulmates. no i dont think they are romantically involved. yes i think they fuck. no i dont think they consider themselves in a relationship or even "friends with benefits" (ironic considering i marked that spot but i did it out of simplicity bc that's how it comes off a lot of the time ...) liiike they are each other's most important person in the world. they love each other so much. but idk if they're in love y'know. of course, i love reading and even writing stories where there ARE romantic feelings involved, because different interpretations and AUs are fun, but speaking from a strictly canon pov, i think whatever they feel for each other can't really be described as romantic or platonic or familial, it's just love, plain and simple.

new-ish to the blog (been here about a month....,,) and i wanted to finally get this off my chest bc it was killing me. i'm queer as hell now but BACK THEN when i was 11-13 i was a cis boy who just liked reading comics and doing a jump everyday in hopes of becoming the tallest jumper in the world. and at the time i found out about happy tree friends and got into it very fast, both bc the gore and extremity was edgy and cool to me and because i genuinely liked the characters. i developed a crush on flippy, because, who didnt, and finding out a LOT of htf fans felt the same made me happy at first. but it became really clear nearly all the people who crushed and fangirled over him were girls irl and i felt like a weirdo about it because i was a BOY and i had a crush on flippy who was ALSO a boy. BUT seeing those same people ship flippy with other boy-characters in the show gave me massive mixed messages, because everyone seemed to love it when it was in-show only and i hadnt EVER met another boy online who had a crush on flippy so i wondered if it just wasnt allowed when it was outside of that, even though i wanted to express it with everyone else so bad. i couldnt go to my irl friends bc none of them were into htf and i was worried theyd think i was weird anyway. so my solution to keep crushing on flippy while still being normal to everyone else was making a htf oc that was quite literally a self-insert of myself, all the way down to the comics i liked irl, and shipped him with flippy. but i never told anyone it was my self-insert and just said it was an oc very unrelated to me and i wanted to keep it that way. i made horrible art of us and wrote equally horrible fanfic of this "oc" and flippy, bc i thought it was a genius solution to expressing my adoration for flippy whilst keeping the handful of followers and online friends i had satisfied bc it was boy x boy stuff. i never wrote/drew raunchy stuff about them bc as far as i can remember it was just shit like going on a date with flippy at the library or having picnics with him etc etc. but once i shared a recent fic with one of my online friends about them and at some point they went "you wrote it like an x reader so i thought it was self insert lol" and i was genuinely in shambles. i thought they were accusing me of having a crush on flippy myself and they were about to expose me or something (they didnt even know i was a boy irl so i dont know??) so i defensively told them it wasnt a self insert and i wasnt attracted to flippy in the slightest. but i was really rude about it and they replied saying they never said that, they never accused me of having a crush on flippy or anything like that and it was just a mistake. i dont remember the entirety of our messages but i remember getting so butthurt and angry i kept telling them to fuck off and that it wasnt a mistake on their end and they HAD to be accusing me of actually liking flippy. i blocked them and i cried so hard into my pillow i could barely breathe and i considered running away from home that day bc i was convinced that person was gonna tell everyone i liked flippy even though i was a boy and somehow get to my irl friends and family and i would be considered a freak for it forever. i stopped posting my art and fics of that "oc" and flippy after that and i didnt know how to delete my account at the time (it was on deviantart) so i just logged out and never touched it again. ive been thinking about it recently now as an adult and i forgot the password to that account so everything is still up and there hasnt been a new comment since 7 years ago but it keeps me up at night thinking about the person i cussed out and all the published stuff

RIN I LOVE YOU SO I WILL DO MY BEST TO ANSWER ALL OF THEM

OK IM WRITING THIS AS IM POSTING TO SAY THAT I DID ANSWER ALL OF THEM AND IT'S. well it's a lot 😅 and since i care about my followers' dashes i'm putting it all below the cut.

Bendy is a ship that I’ve mentioned before that I’m fairly neutral on, mostly because I’ve got a number of ships for Bebe and Wendy I much prefer for both of them… pretty much all of them being het ships actually? I hardcore headcanon both of them as being bi but having a preference for guys. I think if they were to get together, it’d be something neither of them expect, but it’d just sort of… happens. Like they’re talking to one another about dating or something and they both come to the realization that what they want out of a relationship is what they already have with each other. I think sort of because of that they’d never officially get married? That, or they’d do a courthouse marriage. No big fancy ceremony. They’re very loving and supportive of each other and are almost always on the same page. The strike me as the type to actually be more of a career power couple than adopt, but if they did they’d be the best moms.

K2 is one of those ships that I’ve mostly shipped because others shipped them so, I’ll be honest, I haven’t bounced them around my brain that much! I do see them as the type who always have each other’s back which I think is a very good foundation for a relationship. I love Stan, but I don’t think he quite understands like Kyle and Kenny can and always are trying to do for others. I think they’d get into fights a lot initially, but eventually they realize that they want the same thing but they just have different approaches. After that, they rarely fight except for the occasional Big Fight mostly about expectations they have for one another. They’re both very confident in themselves and their actions though, so they wouldn’t bend much for the other and ultimately they both really respect that about one another.

It’s honestly hard to say more about Creek, because what can I say that countless other fans (and perhaps even the show itself) haven’t said better? I suppose what I can say is that my favorite flavor of Creek is Impastor (mostly bc of my love of religious imagery in stuff). I just love the idea of both of them defying everything everyone else expects of them for each other. I suppose they already sort of did that in real life, but it’s just fun to put it into a grander, cosmic scale for me. I do ultimately see them as being extremely domestic though, whether regular or Impastor. I feel like they’ve got dads of a daughter sort of energy? Of course they are the ultimate guinea pig dads but I think they’d also make good real human child dads as well! Tweek is absolutely the fun dad in their duo.

Tolkyde!! I always saw it called Tyde back in the day… but anyway, I always felt very “meh” on this ship for the longest time until I read a very good fic exploring the two of them (if it wasn’t untitled i’d plug it). Anyway, I think especially once Craig and Tweek start dating, Clyde struggles not having someone he can always rely on. Not that Craig wouldn’t be there for him, but I think Craig would emotionally struggle handling both Tweek and Clyde sometimes and he may unintentionally prioritize Tweek. This would lead Clyde to start looking for someone else when he gets upset and Tolkien is always down to help out. Clyde would probably struggle with really opening up, worrying that Tolkien will find him too much like Craig did, but Tolkien is much more emotionally available and that would help Clyde a lot. I think Tolkien also really needs to chill out and relax with someone who is more normal (aka not South Park levels of crazy) and Clyde is kind of average as they come, in a good refreshing kind of way. They aren’t endgame, but I think they both look back on their time together fondly.

Ok now on to characters!!

Oh Kyle… such a little guy and yet so constantly clamored over by fans from all corners of the fandom. For starters, I guess I should say that I think he’s 100% gay. Maybe tries dating girls in middle school, but it doesn’t work out. The other thing I feel the most confident saying about him is that he’s a family man. That’s been proven time and time again, but I feel it always bears repeating. He cares very deeply about his relationship with his parents and brother, and once he’s a dad, I imagine a lot of his personality does revolve around the fact that he is a dad. I don’t want to say that he’s on constantly, because that makes it sound like his familial love is a chore or fake and I don’t think it is, but I do think he puts a lot of focus on it. I do think that, because of that, him doing something with helping families in the future makes a lot of sense. Whether it’s a guidance counselor like in Post Covid or a marriage counselor, I think he’d be compelled to help others understand the value of family and togetherness like he values them.

Stan is your classic kind-hearted quarterback, the kind of guy who goes to the big game afterparty but will leave early if the person who he came with isn’t having a good time, even though he is. Perhaps controversial, but I like a bit of alcoholism mixed in with my jock Stan. I don’t love seeing him hopeless, I want him to have a happy ending, but I think Stan is someone who is often his own worst enemy. I think he gets too in his own head and he’d probably find something kind of freeing about having his thoughts a little muddled. This would freak Kyle out which would definitely make Stan turn himself around because, whether he and Kyle are dating or not, I think Stan always puts a lot of value on Kyle’s opinion of him. I can sort of imagine a life for Kyle without Stan there, but I can’t really imagine a life for Stan without Kyle there.

I love regular Wendy but honestly I sometimes I love genderfluid Wendyl more. Perhaps it’s because she’s a girl written by men who grew up in the 70s and 80s, but so many of Wendy’s internal struggles are tied to her being A Girl and needing to act the part. Whether that’s worrying about her image and photoshop or relationship woes based in her expectations for herself that she must “fix” someone, Wendy seems very upset with the idea of how she should be. I understand that women can continue to be women while also bucking gender roles, but from a self projection standpoint I like the idea of Wendyl coming to the realization that the reason (s)he disliked all the complicated rules is because (s)he just disliked gender generally, for themself at least. If she were to continue being a cis woman, then she absolutely would be the type to wear it on her sleeve. Absolutely not in a TERFy way, but in the sense that she’d be very vocal and proud about being an accomplished woman (and she would be accomplished, no doubt there).

One of my favorite headcanons I have about Nichole is that she’d be a career podcaster. She’d probably start out as an actual play podcaster with all the girls from the TTRPG club but I think she’d move on from there to have a comedy/commentary podcast and then just keep making more short podcast series about cool stuff. From there she’d probably transition into voiceover work and then writing for shows, or maybe she’d become a host personality for TV. I just think there’s something about her energy that would have people wanting to listen to her no matter what she ends up doing. There’s also just something about Nichole that makes me feel like she’d fit really well in the entertainment world. But no matter what she does, she does continue podcasting, especially to keep in touch with old friends from South Park.

I think Tolkien would be the most likely to break free from South Park, in the sense that he’d be able to get rid of that “weird small town” vibe that all of them definitely have. Like, he could go to college and be a normal guy who just occasionally pulls these wild stories out of nowhere and everyone stares at him incredulously. He’d still hang out with everyone when he’s back home, but somehow he’s managed to be both South Park normal and Normal normal. Tolkien has East Coaster energy anyway, maybe New England or New York, so if anyone is actually permanently moving out of the town, it’s him.

I know many people love the idea of Craig going to work at NASA in the future, but I really love filmographer Craig a lot! I think he’d only ever produce very underground indie stuff, but I think it’d be super helpful for him to remove himself from a situation and study his feelings for it through a camera. Obviously he’s working on his emotions via Tweek, but even still I think he’d like the initial sense of detachment he can give himself. In addition to that, I think he’d be very into media analysis. He’d be that guy who makes hours long video analysis essays about media that no one cares about except for him. It’s a good balance between creativity and logic that I think Craig can really appreciate.
