Officially Translated Rhodes Island's Records of Originium: Rhine Lab: (Offical Website)

A canon manhua centered around the circumstances that lead to Silence falling out with Saria and joining Rhodes Island with Ifrit, as well as Ifrit's attempt to save a dying infected stowaway on the landship. Essential reading for understanding the Rhine Lab storyline and characters - read it right after Mansfield! One of the characters, Darya, is mentioned in both Ifrit's module and briefly in Lone Trail.

Rhodes Island's Records of Originium: Blacksteel: (Official Source)

A short story focusing on the lives of the Blacksteel operators aboard the landship. While it often gets overshadowed by the Rhine Lab manga which is bigger in scope, this is a great read especially if you're interested in Franka or Liskarm.

Rhodes Kitchen -TIDBITS-: (Official Source)

An anthology story related to the cuisine that's important to a variety of operators. While it might seem unassuming, the art is gorgeous and it's really well-written. I particularly recommend the Goldenglow (Chapter 4) and Rosa (Chapter 5) chapters.

As the title says, a series of non-canon anthology stories regarding the cast of Rhodes' Island! Note that the link provided only has complete translations up to Volume 4 (and Vol. 4 is missing Ch. 7), and most of the chapters avaliable after that point were MTL'd, so I can't vouch for their accuracy. Also published as part of the Terra Historicus website and not yet officially translated, focuses on the adventures of Angelina travelling across Terra as a Messenger! Recent chapters relate to the upcoming Sami event & IS4, as well as the upcoming So Long, Adele.

If you don’t know, Classic Who (1963-89) had many serials in each episode, with a few episodes per serial. For example, the first episode and first serial, “An Unearthly Child” had four parts (I have linked the first part on dailymotion in the classic who post). After the show was cancelled, there was a movie (1996), and then in 2003 there was an animated series (Scream of the Shalka), which was supposed to be the ‘new Doctor Who’, but then the live action reboot was announced and continued from 2005 until the present.

This made the Shalka series second-level canon (only kind of ‘true’ within the universe of Doctor Who. The fandom considers it an alternate universe basically). There are also many spin-off series, some of which I will link here, as well as official comics, novelisations, books, games, and the increasingly popular audio series with Big Finish (also linked here).

Okay so, you are right, Alejandro, Ghost, and Alex are linecooks. Koenig used to be as well, but O'Conor has opened a restaurant right across the street, so now he's a linecook there. There's essentially three workplaces right now:

Shadow Supply Company Unquatrun Restaurant Kortac Pub

I'll go through each company and list employees

Shadow Supply Company:

Graves obviously is owner. He supplies to both Unquatrun because his husband in Alejandro's nephew and Lucas will tear him a new one if he doesn't, and Kortac Pub.

Velikan and Arthur both drive the supply trucks. Arthur to Unquatrun and Velikan to Kortac Pub. Arthur lets Merlin ride in the truck and the linecooks adore that dog, it's the best part of their week at this rate.

Oz and Mila work in... um... illegal supplies, but they also do quality testing and generally just bug both restaurants when they have nothing to do, which is most of the time.

I would put Velikan and Arthur both younger than expected at 20, Oz and Mila are both 26. Graves is 28, Lucas is 22.

Unquatrun Restaurant:

Alejandro, Alex, and Ghost are back to being the only linecooks. They're all 25. Alejandro and Ghost are actually only a month apart with Alejandro being a month older. Alex is two days older than Ghost, yes they jokingly call him the baby. I'm also introducing Reyes, who is a linecook, and he's also 25, but still older than Ghost, as he's a January baby

Rudy, Gaz, and Farah are full servers and are the main servers, though Laswell occasionally helps out when it's really busy. Rudy and Farah are full time, with full pay as well as tips, and Gaz is full time but relies mostly on tips as he doesn't really need the income and he'd rather that go back into the restaurant, so he takes the minimum they have to pay him. Farah and Rudy are both 24, but Gaz is 23. (I fucked up on the profiles and I'm changing some stuff)

Originally, Valeria and Horangi were bartenders, but both have quit and went to Kortac Pub. However! I have introduced Chuy, who is now a bartender, and he's 24. In fact, he and Rodolfo are almost twins by being one day apart. Laswell also helps out the bar when it gets busy and Rodolfo bartends on bar nights, and after they close the dining room and switch to bar seating only.

Soap and Roach are both hosts, full time. Soap has trouble reading the menus, and the POS is in a dyslexic friendly font. Roach is selectively mute because of autism, so it's just better for them to be hosts. Soap will bartend but only if ABSOLUTELY necessary, because reading tickets is a bitch for him. That receipt font is horrible, by the way, 0/10. Anyway, Soap is 24, and Roach is 22.

Price and Laswell co-own the restaurant and they've basically split duties between them, with Laswell running the entire front and Price handling the back. At first, they thought this might change as Laswell would have more duties, but the linecooks, especially with Reyes added, are a massive handful so... no, it didn't change. Both are 38.

Kortac Pub:

They're a bit smaller of a restaurant since they're a pub, I don't have emotional attachment to many of the Kortac members, but Roze and Koenig are both linecooks. They work semi well together. Roze is 26, Koenig is 25.

Horangi and Valeria still bartend, but Horangi will also be a server if necessary, since they only have Calisto and Stiletto as servers at the moment. Valeria isn't nice enough to the customers to be a server. Horangi is 25, Valeria is 24.

There is no official Host right now, but Nikto and Mace are both bouncers but only on the weekend.

The best way I can describe how I apply persistence (as of now) is actually pretty simple and fun, so I appreciate sharing it with anyone who needs it.

Basically, no matter what you tell me, I flip it in my head to align with what I once desired. When LOA blogs told me before to flip my thoughts, I always though it was a chore; looking at it now –

If I were living this dream life of mine, these are scenarios I'd be thinking anyways. It's a full time thing, like hello? What part of "this is your new reality" do you not understand??? Why would you not think like this as much as possible??

Seriously, if you're living this amazing, beautiful life with your df, db, sp, etc. etc. etc. You'd be thinking like this, might as well get used to it right? This is what I percieve as not waiting for your manifestations.

Don't get it? I was like that too. Let me break it down.

1. You get a heads up from inner you, hey I got this, maybe by this date, perhaps through this way. (desire.)

2. You either say, hell yeah give that to me, or no way that's not happening (intention.)

3. It's yours now! You have a proverbial candy in your pocket and inner you says, "show me the candy I gave you" you're not going to do 700K methods, or affirm 25/8. You're going to dwell on the feeling that yeah, you have that candy and you're going to show it to inner you. How? Like so:

— You're going to celebrate and remind yourself whenever the thought comes up through the day. I do this with an mark on my hand and affirmations.

— You're going to flip your thoughts and activities you do into thoughts that align with what you once-desired, and if the sky was green in the 3D, you tell your inner self, yeah the sky was definitely blue.

— You're going to sometimes think about timing and circumstances etc. If you're still taking baby steps into persisting, but then you're going to think about the hundreds of people getting what they want with 0 reason to lie (no pay, not much clout beyond what some anonymous people online say about you etc.) And you're going to feel so fucking powerful because they're all just background characters in your world – naturally you can do the same and better/quicker, you don't have to wait. (living in the end & persistence.)

Of course, this doesn't mean you should be doing this 25/8 and feeling like shit when you don't do it. Only do it when you hear something you don't like or when you think of what you once desired. Otherwise, head empty, no thoughts. You are void. Here are some ways I've persisted like this.

1. Mom's complaining about work? Nope, she's whining about some deal cut in her multi-billion dollar corporation that honestly won't even affect her it's truly ridiculous and I feel a slight bit of pity for her crabby secretary.

2. Reading hypergamy posts talking about their lives and dates? No, that's my life as I recall it clearly in my mind right now, my boyfriend took me out for Sunday brunch with a lovely view of the harbor and the evening brunch. We spent so long chasing down my runaway sunhat on the beach afterwards and I'm happy I wore flats.

3. You're not talking to me about how you plan to shift realities; you're telling me about a day in your life since we woke up in our ideal realities at the same time and you're so appreciative of being one of the few blessed people to hear of and apply loa to your life.

4. I'm not trying to crunch a budget with my roommate, my boyfriend served me breakfast in bed because he had to go in for a meeting today l: under the condition that I work out the kinks of his marketing strategy with one his business partners. It's just a list of things but so boring.

Persisting can be simple and very, very fun.

Hi Jerrod! I'm a college student taking a music appreciation class, and I have to use the musician I talked about on Day 1 for a project, and that so happened to be you, haha. Is there anyone who has inspired you musically for some of your horror work like Kiss Me/Kill me (which happens to be the song I chose cause honestly? A bop). Thank you so much in advance!

Hmm. Honestly, in cases like that one, I don't really have any conscious inspirations aside from the obvious song itself (as I've mentioned in the past, Kiss Me was mainly inspired by hearing the song on the radio and really listening to the lyrics for the first time and thinking "woah what if she keeps asking to be kissed next to increasingly-creepy things" lol). Started with the lyrics, then once I got the vocals back from Juliëtte I just started with "basic cover of the original song, then just see where I can take it".

The previous work "The Boys are Back (to kill you)" was a much more subdued 'remix', in that many elements were a 1:1 recreation (the backing guitar and bass are remade but mostly adhere to the original) or direct sample (that lead guitar riff) that I built up on in a more subtle way - different drums, lil blips and bloops here and there, but more of a cover than a remix in vibes. Kiss Me starts in a similar way, there's some added synths but it's mostly a close following of the original track with minor embellishments. But as part of the bait-and-switch (in that the listener was intended to assume it's the same situation as the previous one, both in terms of the remix style and the vocals being a sentence-mix), the plan was to just keep winging it in a new direction and see what happens.

Like most of my stuff, the rest kinda formed in this real hazy-to-remember bout of extreme productivity and luck. It's kinda like one of those cartoon fights where you just see a dustcloud and the occasional fist - like I'll zone out (or I guess in) into this very intensely-focused session for hours, and emerge having made a ton of progress thinking "I honestly don't remember how I got here". Sadly can't do it on command (hence my usual low output), but in this case I left everything so last-minute that the stress of the Halloween deadline was really propelling me forward, haha.

Come to think of it, is any of this useful at all? Was the project specifically just about inspirations? If so, kinda sucks that I guess I just went "huh, not really", sorry about that. Obvs not trying to claim my work is immaculate and wholly original and incomparable or whatever (it sure ain't), just that any inspirations for this one were more just my own ingrained inspirations and less conscious ones that I could pinpoint and list, yknow?

A lot of people think Boys are Back was inspired by Neil Cicierega. Which I totally get (on multiple levels, both the sentence-mixed mashup PLUS the "creepy old 90's-style computer UI" stuff are SO his bag), but tbh his work wasn't a direct inspiration in this case, it was mostly another accident. Maybe kind of a "man invents Frankenstein 200 years after Mary Shelley" vibe for sure. Though funnily enough it does take a lil conscious inspiration from one of Neil's works in a less-expected way, in that a distant memory of his track "Super Hey Ya" popped into mind while I was partway through the remix and inspired the lil bouncy chip-arps you hear from 0:50 onward. SHY came to mind on account of being what I guess I'd call an "additive remix", in which he took the whole song and put his own additions on top of it, which was only partially the case for TBaB but it was a bit of a similar process (I specifically remember thinking like "ok so I've got this pretty direct cover of the backing track, I don't want to go full capital-R Remix here but let's add some lil embellishments... oh hey, remember Super Hey Ya?").

Weretoons

I couldn't help but think of this concept after seeing this post. *Check out @horologiiiumart to see their Pizza Tower AU* Cartoons! We know them from age to style, whether it be classics or modern day. The most unique of them being particular movies like Who Framed Rodger Rabbit, Space Jam and Looney Tunes Back In Action.

What makes these quite special, especially the forner, are the interactions between our world with the cartoon side. Toons live on completely different rules unlike normal people. Any natural laws of the world being replaced with their cartoon version.

Jumping ridiculous heights outta sheer fright, bodies mold and stretch when interacting with certain things or storing objects much stronger than the average pocket easily. It is an easy thing for a toon to understand and do. But what if there's an exception to this rule.

Weretoons are a very unique entity amongst were-beings. A non-toon being who becomes a fully functional Toon under various conditions. The basic being a full or crescent moon on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights. (Days where new episodes for cartoons usually air on said night or incoming morning.)

*Caution must be heeded around Weretoons during the Blood Moon! Their antics have a high probability of not only becoming malicious but can potentially maim normal people! Lunar Eclipses will increase their aggression too.

Solar Eclipses and Blue Moons are the only safest shift alternatives for normal folk. Although it is best to keep an eye on inexperienced Weretoons with the latter. Blue Moons can cause uncontrollable sadness or unhealthy actions related to it.*

Transformations can also be triggered by excessive laughter, vengeful rage, or exposure to certain quantity of ink. Essentially the building blocks for cartoons in simpler terms. (Their purpose, the rules and creation of the popular Rubberhose.)

There is no clue if they occur naturally but these can be created through artificial means. Like any epidemic, it involved a Patient 0 and enough people to get infected for it to be impossible to eradicate. A Weretoon can spread their influence through biting, organ/blood transfusion, or their descendants.

*The percentage of those who become Weretoons through heritage start at 80% before dwindling down to the average 20% further down the bloodline.*

Weretoons don't always share the same species between non-toon and toon forms. A large chunk of individuals gain unrelated features or can become a completely different species upon a shift. EX: One human can become a Cartoon Dragon while another turns into a cartoon version of themselves.

In toon form, the Weretoon doesn't follow all natural laws. A good chunk are instead replaced with the Cartoon Laws of Physics. These new rules mainly focus on motion, objects, matter and gravity. Non-toons can be subjected to them by a Toon in the right moment.

Weretoons are born with a unique type called Tropes. These often determine their abilities and what kind of cartoon shenanigans they can do. Here's a simple list involving the more known ones. Link to a character archetypes for those who want to delve further.

Strongman- A trope that embodies incredible physical prowess such as strength or speed unmatched by many.

Eldritch Horror- A trope which manifests in transformations which range from varying degrees of body horror for intimidation and frights.

Jester- A trope that focuses on crafting mischief onto others on usually dangerous or potentially lethal levels.

Chaos Agent- A trope which embodies sheer mayhem with no care for the immense destruction wrought and anything caught up in the antics. *Most dangerous*

Loser- A trope that manifests as various degrees of misfortune or lackluster skill which can affect more than just the possessor.

Mad Scientist- A trope where anything can be made possible through science but will go wrong at some point and be possibly inhumane.

Magician- A trope which can turn the simplest sleight of hand into actual magic as long as the trick isn't fully interrupted.

Defense against Weretoons often varies upon the respective form. They can be killed like any non-toon equivalent if unable to or haven't shifted. It is highly important to not cause an blood drawing injury when a Weretoon is in mid-shift.

This often leads to a creation of a Clone. Clones are Toons born from this process and can create Weretoons just like their predecessors. The only differences between them being their tropes, appearance but also nature. Most clones tend to be very off-point or malformed versions of their Weretoon creators.

Their intelligence and copied memories usually varies between how close they are in resemblance to the original. All Clones are very clingy which often leads to stalking until taught not to. They tend to be very hostile with those deemed a threat to their Weretoon or said creator if mistreated enough.

It is near impossible to kill/injure a Clone and Weretoon in toon form except for one thing: The Dip. A lethal concoction of turpentine, acetone and benzene that became a real threat upon the popular staple status attained by Who Framed Rodger Rabbit. Weretoons can get hurt by it even if they aren't in toon form. Ink is the only thing that can treat Dip injuries. A fully submerged Weretoon will be severely burned in non-toon form and death can follow if they shift before removing the solution.

The Dip is a popular tool almost a particular group of people known as Cartoon Hunters. A common fear amongst Weretoons and Clones since these individuals will go to any length to kill a confirmed person. Most Cartoon Hunters won't let any moral boundaries like innocence or victims get in their way. Only the death of the Weretoons matter to them.

Dangers such as these led to most living in hiding or secret communities. Weretoons can be considered tall tales and crazy stories due to how elusive their nature has become. That doesn't mean there isn't a chance someone in your neighborhood can be one.

SAGAU Mechanics Headcannons

I figured I’d put together a little list as to how I think that certain mechanics in the game function according to an in-game perspective.

Wishing:

Wishes appear as shooting stars. They are bright enough to be seen during the day.

Every character’s constellations are visible in the night sky.

When a character is ‘pulled’ they are able to hear your voice much more clearly, and most feel a sort of tugging sensation in their chest when they are first pulled. It doesn’t hurt, but a few of them were a bit startled.

When you pull a character for the first time their constellation appears on the back of their hand. Each additional time you pull them, another one of the stars on the mark becomes filled in. The mark only appears in battle.

Characters that you’ve gotten many constellations for take a lot of pride in the fact that most/all of their ‘stars’ are filled. (Your first c6 will forever be ecstatic they were the first to have all their ‘stars’)

Banners:

During a character’s banner their constellation is brighter than other: this applies to both the event 5* and the rate boosted 4*s.

The Traveler’s constellation changes colors based on which element they are aligned with at the time.

Amber, Keaya, and Lisa’s constellation’s are a bit fainter than other characters. This is because they are only available on the standard banner.

50-50’s:

When a 5* is pulled, the shooting star is gold.

Wishes on event banners are brighter than wishes on the standard banner.

The event gold stars will always be aimed at the event 5* character assuming it’s an event banner. In the standard banner, it is aimed randomly.

Though the event stars will be aimed towards the event 5*, they CAN be intercepted and deflected, whether intentionally or not.

If the event star has been knocked far enough off it’s original course, it will head in the direction of the nearest standard banner 5*.

If the event star makes contact with a 5* character who does not have their banner available, it will reverse its course and try again.

If a standard banner star makes contact with a standard 5* it lights up one of the stars in their constellation.

If a standard banner star makes contact with the ground, it will turn into a weapon associated with the region it landed in.

If a star is touched by a character who is already max constellation, it dissolves into stardust and disappears.

Food:

Having a character eat is basically just an energy boost. It makes them feel full despite not really having eaten anything. Otherwise Xiao would be complaining about you making him eat mortal food like the almond tofu addict he is

This is actually the only way Qiqi can taste things, so feed her well okay?

Falling In Battle:

They don’t die if their HP reaches 0. It’s more like they just lose consciousness.

‘Reviving’ a character causes them to wake up and feel energized again.

Co-Op:

The experience of co-op for them is sort of like a dream, where they’re aware that this is very much not normal, but it also has a feeling of surrealness to it.

Interactions between them and the other player’s vessels are completely forgotten.

Fast-Forwarding:

Using this feature basically just leaves everyone feeling slightly disoriented and jetlagged. Try not to overuse it or you may notice some “lag” from your characters (they need rest too you know)

Being Added/Removed From Party:

When added to the party they just get teleported to wherever your current location is. They do usually have a few moments to prepare themselves, so you never end up outright seeing them in the middle of their routines.

When removed from the party, they are teleported back to their original position.

The whole appearing and disappearing thing caused a huge commotion for a while, but now most of Teyvat has just kinda accepted that Vision Holders occasionally just disappear for a bit. It’s considered normal now. Mostly.

Artifacts:

Some of the characters decide to actually carry the artifacts you give them on their person, but you aren’t able to see them on the character’s model.

Others have the artifacts lending them power, but don’t physically carry them around.

Bugs:

They cause like 90% of the bugs you see. Usually it’s not on purpose, but they can be a little petty and may make a few things glitch out if they feel they aren’t getting enough attention.

Crashing:

Crashing is a result of them trying to directly interact with you. Whether it’s them trying to speak with you via the chat function, or them trying to verbally speak to you, if you crashed; just know someone was getting a bit impatient and decided they didn’t want to wait anymore.

Other:

Albedo has managed to hijack your camera. Yeah sorry about that, but uh. Congratulations? Honestly, he just got lucky, but if anyone asks he’ll pretend he knew exactly what he was doing the entire time.

They are able to get glimpses of your surroundings occasionally using your camera.

There is without question a small group who are diligently working on discovering a way to contact you.

The vessels can be petty with each other, though they do not actively start conflicts with each other out of respect for you. Otherwise Diluc and Childe would be at each other’s throats instantly

The archons get lowkey jealous if you spend more of your time in one region than their own, but none of them are going to outwardly admit that.

Stiles Stilinksi age regression headcannons

go easy on me this is my first HC post 😅

ᴀɢᴇ ʀᴀɴɢᴇ

Stiles mainly regresses around the ages of 0-2 so his regression is geared towards the baby side. A lot of it consists of speech-loss, whines and hums, pointing for what he wants, using basic ASL, clumsy-ness, naps, and lots of cuddling. 

ᴡʜᴏ ᴋɴᴏᴡꜱ?

Stiles is very secretive about his regression, at first the only person that knew about it was his dad Noah, but that was only because of how persistent the man was on finding out what exactly his son was guarding so closely. Then there’s Derek, who eventually becomes one of his primary caregivers. Derek seemed to take the “news” of his regression the hardest, not because he couldn’t accept it but because he had some serious cleaning up to do with his act (Slamming Stiles’ head onto the steering wheel of his jeep for shenanigans, tossing him around, being at the butt end of so many of Derek’s award winning death-glares, he had a lot of making up to do). Of course, where there’s Derek there’s Peter. He looves to tease about his regression at every given chance but is a very protective caregiver when need be. Then there’s Scott who’s always known even before he couldn’t place his best friend’s odd behavior with the term “age regression". He may be the worst babysitter ever for always giving in to ice-cream for breakfast… and lunch… and dinner, but he really means well! Lydia! Stiles was mortified when Lydia found out and avoided her at all costs but eventually got cornered and lectured on “why on Earth would he hide something like this from her when she’s fully capable of taking on whatever role he needed?!”. The rest of the pack learns about Stiles’ regression but initially its Noah, Derek, Peter, Scott, and Lydia.

ᴡʜʏ ʜᴇ ᴅᴏᴇꜱ ɪᴛ

He mainly regresses due to trauma and a not-so-happy childhood. Although, he also uses it to cope with acute anxiety disorders and autism (yup he’s also got autism to me which I can make a separate post about and go much more in depth). Getting possessed by a thousands year old demon sure is a catalyst for wanting to throw on one of his dad’s old t-shirts, making a nest of blankets/toys and curling up on the couch while watching an old comfort cartoon. 

ᴡʜᴀᴛ ɢᴇᴀʀ ʜᴇ ʜᴀꜱ

Baby pacifiers - He has one adult pacifier but the guy adores the tiny baby ones

Onesies - Not a huge fan of how constricting they can be so he only has two or three 

Fuzzy socks - Ohmygod his sock drawer is overflowing with an array of the softest and fuzziest socks he can find at the nearest Target

Stuffed animals - Need I say more? He’s got a couple jellycats (a wolf and a horse), two build a bears he frankenstein-ed and stitched together named Puppy-Bear (can you tell what animals they we’re respectively?), a Pound Puppy, a huge elephant named Jattestor from Ikea, Clarice (a six legged lamb by HoneyLambs seriously check them out they make the coolest stuffed animals), a plethora of Eeyores and a plethora of Furskin’s Bears as well as other customized stuffed animals (no I totally didn’t make this list off of my own stuffed animals, ur lucky I didn’t write them all down)

Pjs - Seriously I think he has a pajama-hoarding problem because at this point he collects any remotely cute and sensory friendly pajama set he lays eyes on

Bottle - his literal favorite piece of regression gear. Nothing fancy, just a small clear blue baby bottle he bought at the clearance section of whatever grocery store he was at

Miscellaneous- building blocks, counter bears, calico critters, jumbo crayons (cus the regular ones are just too small for his taste!), coloring books, stickers (So. Many. Stickers.), night lights, baby utensils, rattles and teethers, pacifier case, and a basket-full of stim toys

Let's do some Letters headcanons! I haven't done one for Letters Roach and it gives me an opportunity to explain some things for the story!

Warnings: Stalker type behavior from Makarov, nsfw implied, slight non-con mentioned

Trans! Roach in the letters universe, which you guys probably knew, but he didn't come out until he was about sixteen

He is currently in his early-mid twenties in the fic and has been transitioning since he came out

Only person who knew he was trans earlier than sixteen was Eddie

Eddie is still a doctor in this AU and provided Roach with fantasy hormone blockers until he was ready to come out

So Roach essentially never hit a female puberty which has worked out for him because he doesn't have to bind his chest or anything

He was raised with a females education because he didn't come out until later

When he did come out, there was discussion of sending him through the classes for male aristocrats, but he would have been learning with small children, so they decided to just teach him the basics

For this reason Roach has no idea how to really fight (outside of a few things that we'll get to later), no idea how to hunt, and is a little less educated on things like war tactics, math, and history (he's learning though!)

Roach earned Makarov's affection when they were very young, which is part of why he doesn't remember it

Makarov was about eight while Roach was about five

Essentially Makarov was being a pouty bratty young prince

Little Roach got tired of it and came over to smack him with a book and tell him to shut the fuck up with his tantrum because he was trying to make flower crowns

Roach got in trouble for it, but Makarov was already smitten and it did not help that Roach later apologized to him with one of the flower crowns he made

Makarovs obsession was mostly innocent until he hit puberty then he started getting full on creepy and weird which is most of what Roach remembers

Roach and Jackson became bffs in this AU when they were kids. They were around the same age and their families estates are right next to each other, so it just made sense

Jonathan and Eddie fully believed that Roach and Jackson were sneaking around together when they were teens

Technically they weren't wrong, its just that rather than having sex, Roach and Jackson were going into town together and sneaking back to the estates with stray cats (the estates still have a cat problem because of them)

Makarov fucking despises Jackson, but he can't say or do shit because Jackson's family are the Kingdom's record keepers/treasurers

A list of creepy things that Makarov has done to Roach in this AU:

Stolen some of his clothes

Cut a piece of his hair to keep

"Accidentally" spilled wine, water, and mead on him several times

Had specific outfits made and sent to him (and since he's the prince, guess what Roach was wearing to any functions??)

Had copies of any portraits made of Roach made for himself (as well as hired some artists to draw Roach for him secretly)

Bought literally the exact same fragrances that Roach uses just so he can spray them in his room (and be creepy)

Followed him around secretly and made visits to Roach's families estate to sneak into his room

Literally tried to start rumors about the two of them to try and force them to be married

Straight up felt him up several times during big events where he could get away with it during like dancing and what not

There's other stuff but thats just some of the stuff off of the top of my head shdhdhdjjd

Roach is known for his penmanship in his kingdom! Its a highly valued skill in the kingdom and he's penned out letters for the royals before (including Makarov)

So when Soap is like 👁👄👁 with how fancy Roach's letters are, he was not exaggerating, like Roach is very very skilled

Soap is only Roach's third kiss in his life, not necessarily because there haven't been people interested, but rather that Roach hasn't been interested (take your guesses on who the other two kisses were lol)

Because Makarov is so solely interested and focused on Roach, Roach tends to get a lot of flak from other noble families

They want their own daughters/sons to marry the prince, so its very frustrating to them that Makarov has shown no interest in even trying with anyone other than Roach

It doesn't help that everyone can see how uninterested Roach is in the attention. They consider that to be a huge disrespect

So Roach has very few friends/support among the nobility, something that his mother has tried to fix but has often just resulted in Roach sitting in a room being made fun of all day

One last one: Roach is very much deeply attracted to the idea that Soap is a warrior king and has seen so much battle and all that, but he absolutely will not admit it

That shit is staying in his fantasies until after he is married thank you very much

uh. chaos ??? I feel like this is so project-dependent lol but in all cases it's basically a matter of "get what's in ur head down on paper as fast as possible before you lose focus and it vanishes into Oblivion"

in practice, that tends to mean I have A Single Source of Truth document on my laptop where I compile all the writing I wind up doing on my phone or notebooks (or sketchbooks) roughly in story order. There's no outline or storyboarding or whatever lol And for things that I need to research/develop outside of the actual prose, I either leave comments in the doc with links or have a spreadsheet with organized tabs called '[Story Title] Bible'. Most of what is known about any given story is ultimately just in my head which is a very dangerous place to be.

📑 How many drafts do you write on average?

average story gets 5 revisions factoid actually just statistical error. average story gets 0 revisions. tcp georg, which is 18 years old and has had at least 10 drafts, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

ahem. for fic, usually, the only draft is the draft you see posted. some stories, like whipstitch or sequence the bones, get actual systematic editing but it still doesn't usually manifest as full drafts. for original fic, it's....complicated lmao in part because most of them are old enough they've been marinating for years but have never had a complete draft. tcp, as the above meme indicates, has had so many versions that I stopped referring to them as drafts and started referring to them as drafts of a specific version (i.e., currently, I'm working on draft 2 of version...9 or 10. i am not actually sure.)

Saw the post about "other sites" and I'm feeling ~salty~, so lemme give some context for where the bar is with pet sites to y'all. Maybe you've seen ads, maybe you tried playing it and quit because the tutorial is its own circle of hell, maybe you're a blessed person who has never heard of it: Sylestia. It's run by one (1) man. He codes the entire site, has exactly 0 help - by choice. People have literally offered to help him with coding stuff *for free* and he refuses to let anyone touch his precious code.  His ex girlfriend (yes you read that right) is supposedly the other admin - she barely ever shows up, posts games/events that are full of errors, once vanished in the middle of running a game, and has personally insulted players before because they dared offer feedback on one of her ugly ass designs. There is exactly one artist for avatar items and one for pets - one other artist is listed in the credits but it's unclear what regular work, if any, they do for the site. Over 200 different avatar items are released per year, and new pet traits debut anywhere between 4-8 times per year, AND the site is in the (glacially slow) process of redoing all the art for various species. The site is at least 98% RNG by volume - including items you pay premium currency for. Retired items? RNG only. Getting pets? RNG. Getting items period? RNG. And the RNG is also awful - people are constantly having to literally beg for rates to be adjusted.  Plenty of features for events are also just. straight up gambling - you can pay solid chunks of premium currency and walk away with items that are literally worth nothing. You think DV is grindy? Sylestia not only practically requires you to spend a full workday glued to it - including events that basically require you to literally not sleep for several days - the site owner is actively making new content to further encourage ridiculous amounts of grinding. Why? Because he's worried that older players will be bored without new content - so instead of fixing any of the old content on the site, or the site itself which is a mess, he makes new content that ALSO doesn't work.  As of December, the site will be in its ELEVENTH YEAR IN BETA. So when I say "not fixing old content", I'm not talking like, a couple glitches or iffy art. I'm talking *half the site is completely incompatible with the other half*.  And all of that my friends, is still somehow not the source of my salt.  Someone pointed out to the site owner that one of his avatar items was, perhaps, a bit racist. It was (I should say is, it's still on the site :) ) a stereotypical native american dress, CLEARLY based off of the stupid Pocahontas movie, titled "Pow Wow Costume". It was released with a Pilgrim costume in the site's early years. Pretty not great, yeah? Multiple people complained, provided him sources explaining why "Maybe don't keep this on here, maybe this isn't great".  He, is white. He responded by saying he a) would not remove it, b) did not think it was offensive, c) what about the Christmas items or St. Patrick's day items the site has aren't those the same, and d) he actually visited a reservation once so he knows it's OK to have those items, and e) native players should actually be HAPPY to have those items because it was to iNcLuDE tHeM.  I am not joking.  The site has 0 acknowledgement of pride month, not a banner, not an announcement, no items, no anything - it DOES however have an entire festival for the American Fourth of July holiday. The owner claims he doesn't like to have political things on his site, make of that what you will.  The owner also issued a mass ban on a bunch of people because they said some rude shit (about the racist items, the rng, his refusal to get coding help, general issues taking feedback, etc.) in a private, off-site discord server. How did he know what they said? Why, he asked some players in the server to *spy on the others for him*.   He edited time stamps out and published a bunch of the screenshots from this private server, out of context and who knows if they were edited, and threw a public tantrum about how the players were harassing him and secretly planning to destroy the site… by bitching in a private discord.  So yeah. Not excusing Anji's behavior, but happy to show y'all exactly how much worse it could be LMAO. 

The Blue Castle, chapter 9

Love the foreshadowing here: a little retrospective opens the chapter, letting us know that Valancy's conduct at the dinner party is going to be "outrageous"--at least by Stirling standards.

Which is perfectly calibrated by a montage of the innocuous actions Valancy does leading up to said party--morally-neutral assertions of Valancy's own agency which no one but the micromanaging, narcissistic Stirlings could ever object to. Moving her bed! Not wearing a particular brooch! Going by her full name (given to her by these people, even) instead of a nickname!

This list of Valancy's rebellions is my favorite bit so far, and one of the most enjoyable paragraphs in the book, in my opinion.

I'm not entirely sure how to score it when a Stirling berates Valancy but she doesn't care and/or scores a hit in return. In spirit, I think it should could, but in effect, if it's no longer making Valancy miserable, should it be ranked alongside things that have hurt her?

Erring on the side of counting it, so Cousin Stickles gets -1 for "rebuking" Valancy for reading, but a rare +1 for not revealing the banister episode (even if her motivation is not for Valancy's sake).

And -2 for Mrs. Stirling with the argument about church, and the "resorted to tears" language suggesting intentional manipulation.

Really angry again, learning that even this shabby-genteel household can contrive to afford a birthday dinner for Cousin Stickles and an anniversary dinner for Mrs. Stirling, but (as shown in the text) does absolutely nothing for Valancy's birthday, not even a kind word from her mother. I can sort of see where the Aunt & Uncle Wellington engagement might be the complicating factor (we can't alienate them! we're already seeing the whole family that day, so there's no need for a separate event for Valancy! and it's cheaper! she doesn't have any friends anyway!). It also struck me that Amelia Wansburra and Frederick Stirling were probably only married for a couple of years. We don't know how long elapsed between their marriage and Valancy's birth, but judging from his brother Wellington getting engaged 30 years ago and having a daughter who's 28, I suspect that Valancy showed up no more than a year or two after her parents married. The other solid dating evidence we have is Herbert and Alberta having married 25 years before (I assume one of them is a sibling to Frederick, since they are part of the Stirling family and get Aunt/Uncle titles from Valancy--using "Cousin Georgiana" and "Cousin [Christine] Stickles indicates that aunt/uncle aren't uniformly used for members of the older generation, which I take to mean all of the "Aunts" and "Uncles" are Valancy's parents' siblings/-in-law.)

Aunt Isabel gets -1 for the "Valancy doesn't look in colors" dictum [wtf?], though I suspect that Mrs. Stirling and probably Cousin Stickles had a lot to do with enforcing this on Valancy's wardrobe. The remark about 'tacitly dropping the color white' suggests this started many, many years ago, when Valancy was still a child or at most a very young teen.

Roaring Abel makes an appearance! I like how's basically shown as the anti-Stirling, though I don't care for Valancy asserting that he doesn't have an imagination. Maybe he is a very concrete person, but does she really know him well enough to make that judgement?

“Back to Work”

Lesson I learned today was clear. There are two extremely important things when it comes to closing deals (aka sex and or money), and those two things are as follows: privacy and urgency.

I’ve been making money lately, but I could be making real money provided I’m crazy enough to put this plan into action. The plan is simple, but it requires a specifically structured day, including writing, recording, and roleplaying, in addition to the actual time I spend in the field.

This means I’ll probably lose a few nights sleep until I have everything setup, but ideally I’ll be making more money than I’ve ever made afterwards and, more importantly; I’ll be able to afford to work less, and adopt a schedule that allows me to finish school or take care of errands. Basically, the issue is I’ve been a little too nice lately, and doing work for free that I clearly can and should be charging for.

The Scope of Work

Recently I created this lovely document which outlines the full scope of work I intend to engage in. There are a few things not listed on here, since I’ve learned it’s never a good idea to announce projects that aren’t close to being completed.

Still, I'd like to start building the habit of posting sample documents and actually filling out worksheets in my office so documents like these really help me visualize some of the more complex aspects of what I do.

The Biggest Change

The most important thing about this document is that it highlights the four key activities of my business in one place. Honestly, I'm really bad at consulting, and I sometimes forget what I'm supposed to be doing (all the time, if I'm being honest).

For example, let's take tonight. It started with a compliment for my attire, and I was introduced to two new suspects and two previous suspects. This makes a total of five meaningful interactions (for a $15 entry fee), but because my emotions were so haywire, I ended up spending three times that amount, and I went 0/5 on actual meaningful interactions.

Of course, this also negates all the other potential interactions I could have had, since I most certainly talked to more than five people, but I really couldn't get out of my feelings; it's an actual shame.

What I could have done different

In an effort to reflect, grow, and become a bit better at what I do I'd like to reflect on what I could have done different, and what I'd like to do in the event that I'm in a similar situation in the future.

Create the Event on an established Meetup Group

Create an Informative AND Eye-Catching Flyer for the Event

Post the Event on Eventbrite in addition to Meetup, Engage with people on both apps

Personally Call/Text to Invite or Confirm as many people as I possibly can

Coordinate with a photographer/videographer beforehand

Prepare a Private Room or Afterparty

Remember that I'm here to get suspects and content (it’s better to get paid than laid)

Practice the scripts beforehand

In addition to all those things, I should not let the event I'm attending distract me from other events going on and, more importantly, the suspects, prospects, and clients I have that pay attention to such events. Square dancing was cool and all but the Lakers played the Warriors tonight AND there was a UFC card so there were a lot of opportunities to engage in conversation.

Closing Thoughts

Tomorrow I have what feels like one million emails to write (it's probably only 10 or so) a letter that has to be handwritten, and a letter that has to have an artwork on the back. While I'm doing that, I should also find the letters I wrote for the two suspects who are likely to attend the cocktail party I have coming up, in addition to booking both the cocktail party, karaoke night, and whatever other events on to my schedule.

After writing it all down, it feels like I have an insane amount of work to do tomorrow , today actually, so I should feel really accomplished once I'm done. Hopefully that makes up for the way I felt today.
