10 years later - basegame savefile
hello everyone,
today i am sharing something a bit different than usual.
my first savefile using only basegame & no cc.
i have been building on this savefile for over 2 years now. sometimes more, sometimes less frequently. so it's kind of a work in progress still because i don't believe i will ever be 100% happy with it. but i decided to share it with you anyways because there is already a lot to discover and play with in here. many families have backstories and relationships to get you started with some interesting gameplay.
as the title predicts, the stories in this savefile are my imagination of what happens in the lifes of our known townies (and a few new ones) after 10 years.
i just realized i could have said 8 years because of how old the sims 4 is by now, but i don't want to go back and change that now.
to make this savefile more fun i decided that everyone can renovate or expand this to their liking and upload their own version as well so we can all get most out of this. if you decide to share your version please use the hashtag #10yearslatersave or tag me so i can check it out.
you can also upload the builds to the gallery if you renovated them. actually do whatever you like with it i just hope you like it and have fun 😊
if you find typos, builds that are not working, relationship settings that i missed or anything like that, please let me know so i can update the savefile in the future.
i also want to update the savefile with more worlds from other packs and maybe take some better preview screenshots for this post some day!
anyways, i am happy that i can finally share this with you and really hope you enjoy playing with it, renovate the builds or whatever you like to do!
to install the savefile you only need to unzip the download file and put the .save file in to your saves folder. if you use windows you can probably find that folder here: \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves
make sure that no other file in your 'saves' folder has the same name so you don't overwrite any of you existing ones.

✨I'm making my own save file!!!✨
I have no clue when it will be done lol but I'm working on it! All of it will be base game only with all new townies that are interconnected with each other and new lots! I'm making sure to add starter and unfurnished homes too! This will be for Willow Creek, Oasis Springs, and Newcrest and once I finish one world I'll release it. Then I'll make a file with all of them once they're all done!

A small update 🐝
A couple basegame lots have been edited; there's a functional (fake) retail and multigenerational "apartment" for the basegame now.
Same setup still applies, pack content is only found in pack worlds and you can safely ignore the missing packs warning when you open the save. The basegame world and all ~200 townies are set up with basegame content only.
New lots are also uploaded to the gallery, if you want to add them to your existing save :)

Sul sul! This is where I will post more details about my 2024 save file! Throughout the year, I plan on completely demolishing every existing lot in the sims 4 game and creating new homes/community lots and sims to fit each world’s style!
All Words Include:
Custom made homes (furnished & unfurnished)
All lots will only include base game + that world’s pack
No CC or default presets
Some homes will come with correlating families that will be posted in conjunction with eachother
As I go through each world, all lots/ families will also be available to individually download from my gallery w/ each world having their own save file once completed and the final version containing all recreated worlds when all are complete!
Looking forward to tackling this feat and sharing my creations! First part of Willow Creek Coming soon✨

My dad changed the ea password AND DIDNT TELL ME
AND HES ALREADY IN BED SO I CANT ASK HIM
YOU DONT EVEN USE IT ANYMORE WHY WOULD YOU CHANGE THE PASSWORD AND NOT TELL ME
Man I wanna play with the new sims pack but I havent used my laptop in like 3 months so my game needs to update and I can't do that without being logged in
This is why I really wish he'd just set up a separate ea account for me when he was buying sims 4 for me back in 2015
He already set up a new email for me cuz he was getting the laptop set up before sending it over to my grammys so she could wrap it to give to me on Christmas
Like he literally couldve just set up a separate origin account then with the email he made for setting up the laptop so I wouldnt have to share an account with him and not have to worry about not being able to access my game because ea doesn't let you share games anymore cuz its all online cuz gaming companies fucking suck

Sims 4 got corrupted and I managed to fix it. Slap a programming degree in my hand boys I'm a genius
#(it took multiple hours and a lot of stress tears)#sims 4#it deleted half my packs and fucked with all my game files like why. why#if anyone is having the same problem after buying for rent#I used jamesturneryt's 'disable packs' tool to load only basegame#and then loaded normally and it fixed everything#so thank you very kindly jamesturner yt formerly known as thesimsupply you saved my life

NOTE: This save file is NOT Basegame Friendly. It uses MANY packs, as I own them all
EDIT 1/28 - forgot to mention, I disabled aging and autonomy while I was working on the file. PLEASE re-enable it if you wish.
I included most of the details in a PDF on the save file, so I dont want to clutter this area too much. I'll touch on the basics:
Holidays: There is a holiday, everyday. Participation not required ofc
Clubs: Over 20 new clubs available! Some are very punny, I made myself laugh. anyway...
𓍢ִ໋🌷͙֒ All CC you need is included, but mods are LINKED instead of added so that you are all able to update them when there's a patch.
**There are over 150 townies in the 'other households' tab. If your game CANNOT handle so many townies, simply delete some of them, preferably the homeless ones so that all your homes aren't empty.**
I think that's all the important stuff....Off to the download!

SAVE FILE - with all packs!
Guys, my baby is born hahaha
that's why I stopped posting. I was setting up this base save file for myself because I have this problem where I'm constantly starting a new save file and it drives me nuts to give townies makeovers all over again.
So I did it and I tried to added some basic lore to the basegame premades and added a few new townies (not much because I hate save files packed with sims I don't know haha)

And for some reason people like my sims, so I decided to share this save file with everyone, only with game content, besides skinblends and blushes on my sims (they are attached too in case you want your sims looking nice, but if you don't, you won't miss much. Your sims won't be bald or naked, don't worry)... the rest of the sims are just game content (I'm using all packs, no restriction).
Another thing I want to add to this is: I changed almost all lots from the earliers packs and also addded a few new ones so the sims have places to go. The builds ARE NOT MINE, I'm incapable to build (Only the Munches and Villareal's homes... that I built and I'm sorry). I placed my favorite builds there. I tried to not download heavier lots so everyone can add this to their game, but be aware that it might now run smoothly for everyone (you can just delete what you don't want :)).
Honestly I didn't went crazy with sims families. I really want everyone to be able to enjoy this save file! I put a few families that are characters in my story (not premades) and created three new families and that's it. Because everytime I tried a new save file and there was a lot of sims and builds I got overwhelmed and never touched the save again (lol). So I really tried to make this good for you guys too!

The Love Letter Save by Prxnce (V.1)
after 8 long months, i can finally share the first version of my save file, a true love letter to my childhood.
V.1 Information!
the goal with version 1 was to complete the 3 basegame worlds first! i touched every town and filled the save with familiar faces from previous sims games. there are very complex family trees. sims have skills, relationships, and careers! i wanted to get one version out before growing together was released. so although not every world is perfect, they are certainly playable.
Roadmap
100% complete: willow creek, oasis springs. newcrest, san myshuno, strangerville, tartosa, moonwood mill (doesn’t mean i wont come back to these towns but im not worried about them after this version)
75% complete: windenburg, brindleton bay, evergreen harbor, henford-on-bagley, mt. komorebi, copperdale
50% complete: del sol valley
needs TLC: magnolia promenade, forgotten hollow, sulani, glimmerbrook, brightchester
*im only human! if a household or lot is missing some love or attention let me know in my asks box! i will also take suggestions for townies or lots for future versions of the save*

how to install?
un-zip the zip file
from there, drag the file into your saves folder
if you already have a save under that slot number just rename it!
why?
if you are a long time sims player, you know the sims 4 lacks a lot of depth and personality. i found myself wanting sims 2 and sims 3 sims in my game often, so i met in the middle and combined the storylines of sims 2-4. in this save it is still an alternate timeline (iykyk) but a timeline that is more similar to the ones from previous games. bella goth is missing! the caliente sisters are still up to no good! and the pleasant family should still seek family counseling. i want to give a special thanks to LifeSimmer, who permitted me to use the Fenderson family in this save. i have been playing the sims since i was 9 years old and now 11 years later that family is just as special to my inner sims child as the goth family.

How to create visual "custom categories" with the new Sims 4 Studio Batch-Edit
As discovered by @vyxated Sims 4 Studio now supports batch-changing the Display Index number which allows you to easily sort your CC (see post here)
Using that, you can create visual "custom categories" for any existing category to sort your CC into smaller groups that share a thematic.

Step 1: Creating folders
First you need to sort your CC into whatever categories you want.
I am sorting my earrings.
( I use Folder Painter to get colored folders)

Step 2 (Optional): Creating dividers
I highly recommend you to make some sort of divider for your categories (basically like my TidyCAS).
For that, in S4Studio start out by cloning any basegame CAS item.
I usually always use the sunscreen facepaint, but it doesn't really matter, you shouldnt use smth with a mesh.
Or you can download this file and place it in Documents\Sims 4 Studio\Mods.
It has no texture, is enabled for a lot of things and disabled for random.
IMPORTANT: For every new divider you want to create, you have to clone the CAS item from S4Studio again. You cannot simply duplicate your divider CC and simply change it.
Save it as the number and name of your category. For me it would start with "00 Studs".
In that file, first import any type of custom thumbnail you want to use to display the category name.
Then, change the category to whatever category you are working on and enable it for all ages, genders, fashion choices & outfit types you want and disable it for random.
Now if you want, import an empty texture to get rid off the sunscreen, but since you won't apply that CC, it won't matter.

Make sure to place the dividers OUTSIDE your sorted folders.

Step 3: Batch processing in S4Studio
Now you want to batch process your folders in S4Studio.
First click on "My CC" and let it load.
Now right click your first folder and select "Batch Edit - Change CAS Display Index"
In the next window, press "Run".
Then, enter whatever number you want to start with.
The smaller the number, the higher up the content is. You can go into negatives and the limit is a veeeeeeeeeery high number.
If you just want to sort some normal CC, I recommend starting with 0 simply.
For the next folder I then always go up by 10, so 0-10-20-30-etc.
Then press "OK".
You will then get a popup with all your changed files (I sorted mine before so it's non lol)
Note: Keep in mind that it does not sort your CC alphabetically.
Apparently it's by last modified date.

If you have done step 2:
Step 4: Sorting your dividers
Lastly you want to make sure that your dividers show up at the beginning of the custom categories.
Open up your divider in S4Studio again if you closed it.
Click on "Warehouse", select the "CAS Part" and on the right in the "Filter" field search for "display".
Under "DisplayIndex" you now want to input a number that's before your category.
My category starts at 0, so I will change it to -1.
If the category starts with 10, I input 9 and so on.
"SecondaryDisplayIndex" is swatch order, so it doesn't matter here.
Then just save it.

UPDATE: Thanks to the information from @l-1-z-a and @profesionalpartyguest, the eyeshadow was created by Xandher and the lipstick either by him or by another person and Maxis left it in game. More information on this here.
Some time ago I found 2 textures in game files while searching for something else. I saved them just in case because I’ve never seen them used in game. And today I decided to turn them into makeup because I still have no idea what they are.
Eyeshadow and lipstick have custom thumbnails and are categorized under basegame makeup (a huge thank you goes to the One and Only @platinumaspiration for teaching me this trick 😘).

Hunter's Glen Modular Arena
This hunter-jumper course was built in collaboration with @pixelpony-ccfinds. They asked me if I was willing to build a course to showcase their new Hunter-over-Fences set, and, as ever, I was delighted to do so.
Hunter's Glen is a 50x40 lot built in Henford-on-Bagley, but it could honestly be placed anywhere as the landscaping is pretty generic. I created two courses in order to properly showcase each jump. Each jump is fully functional, however, due to the layout of each course and spacing of the jumps, it might be tricky to actually use them during actual gameplay; this lot was built with posed screenshots in mind. Ringside, there is a posh little seating area with a fancy rustic bar for spectators to enjoy.
I would like to thank @walnuthillfarm and @equinista for answering my questions regarding hunter-jumper courses and helping me figure out how to lay out each course. Without them, I'm sure I'd still be trying to figure things out.
Modular arena, you say? What's a modular arena?
This is a system I've been using to build most of my arenas lately - I place down a room, adjust it to the size I want my arena to be, delete the ceiling, and replace the walls with fences. Since each course layout is an individual 'room', all I have to do to switch between them is click the room, delete it, and then swap the layout I want into the empty spot. This has allowed me to make multiple configurations of an arena on the same lot, without having to save each lot over and over again.
As such, this download comes with tray files for the lot itself (with Course 1 pre-loaded), Course 1, Course 2, and an empty arena for you to DIY to your heart's content!
This lot is built with items from Basegame, Horse Ranch, and My Wedding Stories and possibly Jungle Adventures?.

A CC-Free Historic Base Game Victorian House

Perhaps not the next download you were all expecting from me, but I updated my game yesterday and didn't have any of the cc I'm using for the save file in, but I still wanted to build... so ta-da! I figured a vanilla, basegame lot might be useful for everyone that's waiting on broken mods and cc or looking to test out the new pack in a vanilla save!
This build was inspired by @simmerrose-ccfinds who left a comment on my save file sneak peak a couple weeks ago asking about how many packs I used. And it got me thinking that most of my builds use all the packs and even a couple of kits. I find cc-free building limiting enough that not using the packs seemed crazy! But there's a bunch of great basegame builds out there and I thought I can do that too. They had mentioned they'd love to have one of those big rambling victorian houses, and I thought, why not do that?

This build is based off a real historic victorian floorplan I found when googling around and has everything your more well-to-do basegame sims might need. There's a parlor, formal dining room, sitting room, two bed chambers, a nursery, a painting studio, and even a bathroom with indoor plumbing! There's also everything the servant's of your more well-to-do sims will need including a spacious kitchen, butler's pantry, pantry, and cramped servant's quarters.
The build is furnished luxuriously and as of now is furnished for a family with at least five children, though feel free to move things around in the nursery. There is a crib for our newest most delightful life stage.
The build is fully playtested, make sure you moveobjects on when you place it. And feel free to do whatever you want with it, this is really meant to be a base for everyone that might have fewer packs, so make it your own! Though I do like to think my furnishing isn't too shabby.
