Dearest brother,
You must forgive me for such a late response, I have read and treasured your letters, of course, but I have been rather occupied with preparations and I haven't quite had the time to write up a reply. Fear not though, Oliver, for I have fantastic news: Alina and I would soon be joining you all in America! I know you must be quite shocked. Truth be it although it has been great getting to know your not so little family through correspondence, my yearning for home is now overwhelming and I find that I want my darling Alina to get to know the cousins she so often reads about (she swears she and your Willa will be the greatest of friends age notwithstanding). I also can’t deny the fact that I am getting on in years and I want Alina to have a family even when I’m gone. She is quite excited as am I. We will be sailing on the RMS Titanic, I'm quite sure you would have heard of it- it's all over the papers here. They say it's perfectly safe despite it's vastness though that hasn't been enough to calm my nerves. Nevertheless, I'm sure we're in for a smooth journey and us Mosley siblings shall be together once more.
Send Bertie and Nell my wishes,
Lucille

Following on from the simple modesty of the 1300s, female hair in the 1400s became a lot more elaborate thanks to the addition of hair pieces, ribbon and other decorations. Braided styles evolved into very detailed and decorative concoctions. Styles also became more flowy and romantic, often with curls framing the face. CC links under the cut.

Antiquated Brindleton
An 1890s Decades Challenge Save File
This save has been almost a year in the making, but it's finally here! It includes a completely rebuilt Brindleton Bay inspired by historic New England towns and set in the 1890s. This save uses a light amount of historical cc and most of the packs.
Download and details under the cut:
Tumblr media
SAVE DETAILS:
Includes:
Eight new residential lots
Seven new community lots
Six new households
Builds and households are all located in Brindleton Bay. The world is intended to be historically accurate to about 1890, though some liberties for functionality have been taken.
Builds in other worlds have been deleted. The necessary buildings, like dorms, active career lots, and the high school, have all been left in place.
Townies have been evicted, but not deleted, as I prefer EA townies to fully randomized townies.
If you’d like more period appropriate townies to add, the lovely @jewishsimming has some great historical ones to download and @cowplant-snacks has an amazing tutorial on how to manage your townies with MCCC.
REQUIREMENTS: I have all the packs except Batuu and some of the kits. I didn’t limit myself when building. I don’t have everything listed out here, but I will be uploading all the lots and households to my gallery, so if you’d like to know specific pack usage you’ll be able to check there. If you load in and things are replaced or missing and you think it looks obvious feel free to message me, I’m always happy to try to help you find something else that fits! Life with the newborn triplets was intense, but Heather and Jenny worked as a team. Their days were dictated by routines - feeding, burping, and finally sleeping - all designed to keep everyone happy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They named their little trio Quincy, Jasmine and Ginger. And as they grew, their needs became more complex. Gone were the sleepy newborn days and Jenny and Heather found themselves exhausted. They reassured each other that things would get easier in time. When the going was getting tough, they would look down and their amazing little trio and remind themselves of how lucky they were and grounded themselves in the moments of sweetness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jenny was in her element with the babies, but privately, Heather found herself struggling. She had not fully overcome her grief at her mother's death, and being a mother herself she found herself wishing daily that she could pick up the phone and call - to ask for advice, to ask for help, for her Mom to come over and make the baby stop crying and tell her she was doing a good job. But she couldn't allow herself to break down - she had to remain strong for Jenny, they had to remain a team .

I've been quietly doing a Decades Challenge in my spare time for over a year, and I've finally reached the 2010s.
But one of the most prominent characters throughout the (sim) years is Velma Frances "Vee" Robinson, who married my gen. 2 heir in 1934 and just stole the show - from being a wartime housewife to becoming a successful businesswoman, cat sanctuary manager, and an eccentric great-grandma.
She's lived through two world wars and a scandalous divorce, always with a cig in her hand and a cat by her side - and she is still around in 2010, at the ripe age of 97!
I've loved playing with her so far and just wanted to share a few snapshots I've collected over the years.

1890s Lookbook — Evaline Mendoza 📜
Starting off this revival with a lookbook for Evaline! I tried to convey that although Evaline has grown up wealthy, she left all of that behind when she married Walter. When she ran away to elope, she of course took a few of her belongings with her. The jewelry she didn't pawn off would be worn only with her formal attired, and the dress itself is a remnant from her past. The rest of her clothing would be semi-new; dresses that are new to her but not newly made. They're gifts from Walter's family, dresses his mother and sisters would have worn.
Although she doesn't have all of that money anymore, Evaline still likes to dress herself nicely. She keeps her long, black hair up in a bun according to the trends of the time, and the sleeves are still big and the hems long. I think she will be much more hesitant to change with the times once the 1910s come along, as she cherishes the 1890s and all they offer her.
If you'd like to know where any piece of cc came from, send me an ask!

The Baudelaire family returned to Ireland the next day, only this time, they never had to worry about leaving.
Their new home had been abandoned years prior to them purchasing it and had been left vacant for quite some time after the previous family had fled those lands that had once been filled with such rich history. Overtime, the stories had been forgotten, perhaps almost purposely by those that occupied the neighborhood nowadays, existing only as children's fables or as myth.
One thing they did know though was that the land used to be a vegetable farm, quite a successful one too, and Lawrence intended to make it profitable once more. Already, the farm boys were put to work planting rows of cabbage, carrots and most notably, potatoes.
Hours of labor had gone into restoring the house to what it had once been before the family arrived and at last, it was returned to its original state of elegance. The perfectly laid brick was covered by thick ivy, and the grounds were surrounded by beautifully vibrant flowers, lush green plants, and tall, brilliant marble statues.
It all seemed like something out of a storybook rather than real life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The travel horses pushed forward through the gates, and all any of them could do was gawk, unable to believe they were truly going to live here. Even the children, fussy and tired from such long travels, sensed the exhilaration from the adults and had begun to perk up with curiosity.
Ozzy, who rode with Beth in her carriage, stared up at the house in wonder, as though his little mind was trying to comprehend such a big change. "This is our new home, my little dove. We're going to live here now!" Beth whispered to the seemingly awestruck toddler next to her.
"Wooooow!" He exclaimed almost breathlessly, and though it was unclear if he actually understood what it all truly meant, Beth laughed in response, happily agreeing that 'wooow' was right.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Most of their belongings arrived before The Baudelaires, already unpacked and put away thanks to a moving crew hired on by Lawrence. In addition, he had also taken it upon himself to hire various help, like maids, gardeners, cooks, and even a personal chef, and as Lawrence stepped out of the carriage and onto the stone pavement, he could see one of their footmen waiting patiently to greet them at the door.
"Well, hello there, Baudelaires!" He called out from the porch enthusiastically.
Lawrence waved a quick hello before holding out his arms to take Atticus. "That's Mr. O'Bannon. He worked for the family that lived here previously." He explained once Winifred had situated herself.
They joined Beth and Ozzy next, and walked hurriedly up the front steps while Mr. O'Bannon welcomed them home.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Winifred audibly gasped as she entered inside, her eyes growing wide in amazement at everything around her, and once everyone had stepped through the front door, they understood her reaction at once.
After they had filed in one by one, Mr. O'Bannon offered a tour of the house and they happily accepted. He informed them of the origins of their new furniture, boasting about the craftsmanship of the Irish workers and the prestigious color schemes of the wallpapering, most notably, the newly popular Scheels green in the parlor and the dining room.
The new decor was so complimentary of the things they had brought from home, they were almost unrecognizable sitting amongst such fine things, almost as if they were new items themselves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They had only made it through the first two floors before Atticus started falling asleep in his mother's arms, while Ozzy began to grow rather antsy. Winifred excused herself to rock with Atticus for a while and Beth, wanting to avoid a tantrum, decided to take Ozzy outside to get a better look at the water fountain out front. Which left Lawrence to finish off the tour with Mr. O'Bannon.
However, Mr. O'Bannon dismissed himself as well, needing to check how the luncheon was coming along and confirm the table was being set correctly. Lawrence didn't mind all that much, if anything, he was relieved to see how serious his staff seemed to take their jobs.
And so, just like that, everyone was off in different directions, making themselves right at home.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lawrence, who now found himself alone, fancied himself a celebratory smoke out on the balcony. There, he smoked cigarette after cigarette while he watched over the farm hands below, reflecting how just months prior, he would have been down there in the dirt just like them. But, tilling soil and yanking weeds were a thing of the past, and someday soon, nothing but a distant memory.
Now, all there was left to do was assimilate to this new way of life.

Fall - 1303
By the end of the year they had a lot happen. They got a few more animals and John got mauled by a bear while out hunting.
It left him with scars and not being able to help on the farm. So Margaret had to all chores and take care of the twins. Everything went rather well.

The 1400s gave way to the incredibly iconic accessories of the 1500s, namely hoods (both Gabled and French) and ruffs. While the end of the Tudor era saw the popularity of headdresses decline in favour of uncovered hair decorated with jewels, diadems, and feathers, prior to that headdresses were a vital part of court dress. In fact, the style of hood worn was often used as a political statement amongst the nobility. Hats had always been in fashion for men, but the 16th century saw them also become a fashion staple for women. CC links and reference images under the cut.

🏜️ Deadwood Reach: A Wild West Starter 🏜️
Has your sim followed the gold rush out West? Left behind the hustle and bustle of the city for the open air? Decided to try and make it on their own with no one other than their trusty steed? Despite its intimidating name and the Cowplant skulls guarding its entrance, this little starter home has everything a sim needs to build a life.
Designed for a Decades Challenge or historical gameplay, this lot is off the grid and requires a bit of ingenuity (or anachronistic cell phone usage) to meet its simple living requirements. There’s a small area for gardening, cross-stitching, guitar picking, and of course, horse riding. For those who might want a few creature comforts, there’s a well equipped outhouse, two working fireplaces, and even a brand new feather bed.
So brew up your cowboy coffee, sit on a hay bale, and enjoy a fire under the wide open sky.
Lot Size: 20x15 Original Lot: Big Sky Reach Lot Value: 22,829 House Size: 1 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom Lot Traits: Natural Well Lot Challenges: Simple Living, Off-the-Grid CC-free
As usual, it is CC free so that everyone can download it, but please feel free to redecorate it or redesign it, just tag me if you use it so I can see your lovely pixels enjoying it too!
Available to download on my gallery ID: aheathenbuilds or here (SFS, no ads).

The Soddy
A CC Free Prairie Homestead
Lot size: 40x30 Price: §37,341 Lot type: Residential Location: Biscuit's Bastion, Chestnut Ridge
Homesteading and the settlement of the American west has always been a particular interest of mine and recently I've become very interested in sod houses! I toyed with the idea of recreating one in Sims but never had a good world or assets to work with. When I fell into my little building bender a few weeks ago I realized Chestnut Ridge was perfect for it and promptly hyperfixated.
This home is ideal for a couple or small family just trying to make their way in the prairie of Chestnut Ridge. The house can fit up to three sims and a baby or toddler, perhaps a bit snug for our modern standards but perfectly alright for the nineteenth century. Also comes complete with fertile fields, an empty chicken coop, a slightly decrepit horse barn, and a well stocked root cellar.
More info and download under the cut:
This house is heavily inspired by Prairie Homestead in South Dakota. When I started kicking around the idea of this build I started googling for reference photos and discovered this very cool historic site. I tried to match this build to its real life counterpart more than I usually do, as the interior that they have set up for that house was just so fun and unique feeling. The exterior is inspired by it, but sim lot constraints required more creative license. I highly recommend you look at some photos, it really is such an interesting place.
Sod houses, which were constructed by cutting hunks of the top layer of the grasslands (which were held together by the strong roots of the native grasses) were common throughout the latter part of the nineteenth century and began to peter out in the early part of the twentieth century. They weren't the most luxurious accommodations, but did have the virtue of being warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
Unfortunately as the walls were made from the earth, bugs could be an issue and I've given this lot the creepy crawlies bug challenge for ~realism~. It's also off-the-grid, and has a functional root cellar (meaning I put the fridge down there, have fun in thunderstorms).
This lot is fully playtested (might have been the most I've played in a while actually, I wanted to make sure the crib worked). Please please enjoy this build. I know I always say it but this one is actually my favorite, and making this work with the constraints of Sims 4 terrain tools was quite the undertaking and I'm so pleased with it.
If you use it please tag me in any photos, I love seeing what y'all get up to with my builds!!
