"You've always been there," Barty said quietly, but he wanted to express that urgently. "So yeah, it was fate and we shouldn't have met, but we did, and still, you've always been there," he whispered, snuggling closer to his friend. "I knew who you were from my first day at school. I saw you and I saw you in Regulus," Barty said seriously. "You were always there in the castle and I could look past you for a while, but then eventually I couldn't. You were always there," he whispered and was so moved again. It was almost embarrassing. "You were in the wood of the table," Barty whispered, stroking the lines in Sirius' palms. "You were in the fire, where the flame glows red," he added, stretching up a little to kiss Sirius' lips. "You were in the sky, every night," he confessed further, slowly realising how much he had wanted Sirius to see him back then. "You were under my skin when you were laughing and even when you weren't… when you weren't laughing," he whispered, as if he had to tell Sirius all these thoughts before their time together was up. Barty had noticed at school when the Black brothers had come back from their holidays with their lips twisted in pain. "You already showed me everything back then. And even more clearly today, today you're still under my skin," Barty said chokingly, and he already knew that tiredness and fear were responsible for this, but he had to say these things, they burned in his chest and would continue to burn there.

This is a family tree of an au I've had living rent free in head for years.
Basically in the au there's no war, Tom doesn't go mad or kill anyone especially Myrtle, instead he just up and travels after graduation. Abraxas, his ex, ends up marrying some women and some time later Lucius is born. His wife mysteriously disappears when Lucius is 5 years old. *Abraxas killed her when she started becoming cruel to Lucius* Once Lucius goes to hogwarts, in his 6th year, he meets and befriends Severus. He invites Severus to attend the orchestra, during the weekend, and Severus agrees and that's how his fascination with violins begins. He invites Severus to his home during winter break and he introduces him as his new brother to his father, Abraxas quickly becomes attached to the boy.
As the years go by Abraxas learns, from Lucius, about the abuse Severus endures at home by his own father. He also learns that Severus mother had died when he was 5 years old, both Abraxas and Lucius suspect it was by Tobias but Severus neither confirms or denies it. Abraxas tries to adopt Severus but for whatever reason, mainly cause the child system and the ministry suck, he doesn't get custody of him. During Severus's fifth year, he invites Klaus Mulciber, Wes Don Avery, and Evan Rosier over to Malfoy Manor for winter break. Abraxas wounds up getting attached to an emotionally unstable Klaus and decides he's gonna adopt him too.
Once 5th year ends and during the summer Severus arrives home and finds his father dead due to alcohol poisoning. Severus contacts authorities and then Lucius, who tells Abraxas. With Tobias dead, Abraxas is able to adopt Severus, he then works on getting custody of Klaus. He has an easier time getting custody of Klaus becaus Klaus's parents owe the Malfoy's a dept and he's ready to collect. *He didn't know about it until the goblin handling his vault brought it up* He decides to blood adopt both Severus and Klaus before the summer ends, only Severus agrees. It takes until 7th year that Klaus asks Abraxas to blood adopt him during Christmas, it's the first time any of them *except for Lucius* sees Abraxas cry.
Severus's appearance changes drastically, his nose is less crooked more smaller, he practically looks like a doll, his hair has a bit of white strands and people think he's dyed strands of his hair white. *He still has his mother's blood in him* Klaus's appearance doesn't change all that much but his eye color turns lighter and his jawline sharpens. Somehow his hair stays Black. During their 6th year, Barty starts becoming a regular at Malfoy Manor. He spends his time in Lucius's presence due to the fact he's fallen in love with him when he first saw him at the age of 9. Barty hadn't a clue who he was and hoped to see him again and low and behold he's reunited with his true love all because he's somehow befriended Lucius's adopted brother.
Abraxas is protective of his children, especially Severus and Klaus due to their dark past. So he becomes cold towards Barty, Evan, and Wes who all seem to become infatuated with one of his children. Barty Loves Lucius, Evan loves Severus, and Wes loves Klaus. Now Abraxas spends his time testing Barty, Evan, and Wes to see if their good enough for his boys. Each test is passed with flying colors by all three boys, even tho they haven't the slightest clue they're being tested. Tho one christmas Abraxas tries to poison Barty, the reason for it he no longers remembers, and now it's become a tradition. Abraxas stopped one year and Barty got salty about it, this just becomes the new reason Abraxas poisons him because he can't believe his son has fallen for a moron. *Like he could complain*
At the start of Sev's and Klaus's 7th year does Tom come back. Abraxas is still upset him and Tom is doing his best to make up for his mistakes. Now Lucius, Severus, and have become clingy children upon Tom's return. Lucius does what he can to screw Tom over by feeding him lies, Klaus is back to expressing no emotion and glaring at, plus sometimes attacking as well, Tom, and Severus is practically glued to Abraxas side and refuses to let Tom near them at all. Abraxas finds the entire thing hilarious, the only time he intervines his children actions is when they try to kill him cause deep down he still loves Tom. Slowly with the help of Barty, Evan, and Wes *they miss spending time with their boyfriends* does Tom slowly gets on the good gracious and approval of Lucius, Severus, and Klaus.
The endgame is that Tom and Abraxas get back together, Evan gets with Severus after years of pining, Klaus after years of being in denial due to his parents ends up with Wes, once Barty graduates the first thing he does is ask out Lucius. Barty faints with happiness when he says yes. Years go by and they get married and have children. Tom and Abraxas don't have children, they're content with the children they got now. Wes and Klaus also don't have children, due to Klaus once being emotionally unstable he fears he won't love his children right, just like he fears he isn't loving Wes right but it's alright he's been going to therapy since his 6th year in hogwarts, so maybe one day they'll have kids. Severus has also been attending therapy after 5th year during the summer.
Lucius and Barty have one girl named Anastasia Thomas Malfoy, who is sorted in Hufflepuff.
Severus and Evan have 2 girls and 2 boys. They first have a girl named Sevana Mari Prince. A year later they have twin boys Aron Prince & Kalem Abraxas Prince. The unique about them is that they were born with different eye colors, Aron has blue eyes like Evan and Kalem has black eyes like Severus. Two years after the boys are born they have another girl named Eileen Prince. Myrtle is sorted into Ravenclaw, Aron is sorted into gryffindor, Kalem is sorted into slytherin, and Eileen is sorted into hufflepuff.
Also Lucius ends up becoming a politician, Barty is a stay at home husband, Severus becomes a lawyer and of course a potions master *he makes potions in his free time*, Evan becomes an auror, Klaus becomes a bartender and sometimes works as a bouncer, and Wes becomes a healer.

Танцующий лес в Калининграде. Dancing forest in Kaliningrad.

On the Curonian Spit you can see a coniferous forest, the trunks of which wind in bizarre zigzags. This forest is called “dancing” here. It is located on the 37th km of the spit, 4 km north of the village of Rybachy and has a total length of 1.2 km. The dancing forest has always been mysterious. Since its foundation in 1961, many legends have been created about the bizarre attraction. Some believe that the curved trees are the silhouettes of young witches, suddenly frozen for centuries during a magical dance. Another version says that a long time ago, Prince Barty fell in love with the beautiful girl Predinia. He asked her to marry him, but their faith became an obstacle for the lovers. The prince was a pagan, and Predinia was a Christian. Bartius agreed to accept the new faith if the beauty could prove the greatness of her God. The girl began to play the harp. The trees danced, stopping in an instant. They froze in this position for centuries. Years later, curved trees appeared in the clearing.
Scientists are impartial and do not believe in magic, but they are also trying to find an explanation for the mysterious phenomenon. In their opinion, the cause of the curvature could be the mobility of sands, sharp changes in wind directions, temperature changes, or the invasion of wintering shoot moth caterpillars, which damage young shoots of pine trees.

The Simpsons Season 32 Episode 2 Review: I, Carumbus
https://ift.tt/2GEvudU
This The Simpsons review contains spoilers.
The Simpsons Season 32 Episode 2
In order to stay relevant in the present, The Simpsons’ season 32, episode 2, moves back to the past. History has a way of repeating on itself, as does The Simpsons, and “I, Carumbus” is a cautionary tale, twice told, if you watch it again on demand. Just like the often-misinterpreted “Revelations” of The Bible was actually about Emperor Nero, the tale of Obesius and his son Bartigula, is a warning shrouded in the mystery of parable. Just like that guy Jesus used to do before his people started bad-mouthing the Saturnalia. An empire shall fall because of its own greed and ambition, Lisa explains.
It sometimes feels like The Simpsons have lived longer than the Roman Empire, and people are consistently calling for its fall. Even The Simpsons writers mock their longevity, and the god they sacrifice to, Fox Network, which grants them longer life. While Homer doesn’t quite jump the rhinoceros in this episode, many watching on their home Coliseums want to see him throw himself on his knife. That’s probably a little too much effort, so the series lets Michael Palin as the Springfield’s Museum Curator twist the dagger of ambition into the proceedings.
Before the period piece part of the episode begins, Marge wants to know if it would kill Homer to show a little ambition in his life. Normally, Marge is his biggest enabler and while she’s often had reason to push him up innumerable hills, she knows Homer is more apt to fall of the nearest cliff. But as Lady Majora, her Roman era namesake, she gets to be the Machiavellian mama MacBeth in this I, Claudius arc.
It all begins on the farm where Obeseus does the work of several farm animals, plowing fields. His father replaces Obeseus both as an agricultural implement and emotionally when he trades him into slavery for a real ox. The Simpsons spends a little time doing a parody of Spartacus, with Homer plowing the arena with the dead bodies of his gladiator opponents. They go a step further when the daughter of one of the Doctores Retiarii who trains the gladiators, played by Joe Mantegna’s Fat Tony persona, get pregnant by one of the fighters. All the gladiators rise in unison to proclaim “I had Sexicus” in a parody of the famous “I am Spartacus” scene. It is a rousing moment with a double entendre that misses its mark by about a discus throw.
It is telling, funny and completely in character for Obeseus to betray himself by thinking he was betrayed by his friends and Majora. It does seem, for a moment, the other gladiators might be bragging about having a go with the vestal not-so-virgin. By missing the point that his friends were trying to protect him, Homer’s entire persona, everything we know, love and forgive about him, is defined. He doesn’t screw his friends for this reason though. That’s entirely due to the influence of his new freedom to be enslaved by the ambitious daughter of a Roman businessman. It also helps that both Homer and Obesius’ legends are cast in the self-referential tales and prowess of Mr. Plow.
It sounds like a happy ending, but X years and II children later, Obesius finds himself in the whizz biz, fermenting human urine into ammonia. Here we get another history lesson from Springfield Elementary, which oddly enough is even more TMI than what we saw on HBO’s Rome. This is the same occupation which fortified the coffers of a young Marcus Tullius Cicero, who would later find his hands nailed to the Senate doors. We can only hope Obesius washed his as he follows his wife’s bidding to put himself up for a seat on the floor.
Even Senator Horse, a reference to a real-life satirical appointment made by Emperor Caligula, knows there are benches. The buildup and denial follow familiar Simpsons plot movement, and while the jokes land, and the story moves forward, the actual laughs should have come at a faster rate. This is fertile ground for the fast-pace verbal sparring the cast does so well, and it feels like it is thrown away too quickly.

A lot happens in the rising action. Obesius takes credit for his slaves’ innovations. He falls deeper into the Seduction of Mimi morass by stiffing his friends for upward motion. But his ultimate power move is helping the Emperor slip backwards on a knife so his son can rule. This is made more curious by the fact that the father, portrayed by Springfield’s Mayor Quimby, is much much younger than his son, played by Mr. Burns, who may very well have known actual Romans he’s so old. The actual punchline, “Et tu, pee guy?,” is clever but feels a bit stale because it’s such a Simpsons branded moment. The smaller detail of seeing El Bartius graffiti all over the someday-ruins is equally historic a gag, but works better.
It turns out Lady Majora’s big, stabby, go-getter husband is really not that different than his modern American counterpart. He’d much rather do a half-assed job, as is his right as an irate worker and disgruntled husband, than climb a sociopolitical ladder which may not hold his weight. Livia Drusilla, who Marge’s alter ego is based on, was indeed a poisoner, and was declared a god generations before her great, great, grandson Caligula declared himself one in a tyranny which begs contemporary comparison. Bartigula’s reign has the most relevant social commentary. He is a man-boy who rules by tantrum with an agenda forged on personal whim. Obeseus’ ignored warnings are as timely as the latest false news claim.
Those who don’t learn from history are destined to repeat it. Obeseus realizes he failed Rome, was a less than perfect father, was horrible to his friends and gives slave-owners a bad name. His ancient character has the most growth during the episode, but you wonder, how much he retains. When we flash to the present, the argument about attending any kind of corporate seminar is still unresolved, and the only lesson we learn comes from the curator himself. When will humanity ever learn to stop letting stupid people into museums? All historical points are missed, the same patterns are repeated, and The Simpsons have been at this for 32 seasons.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
“Wrapping it up and soon,” sayeth the gods at the end. They are correct in that the world would be better off under the kind of multi-god system the Romans had. So they may also be portending the twilight of The Simpsons. There are always rumors going around declaring each season its last, but this may be a decree from on high. “When in Rome you do like the Romans do,” the closing credits sing. The Roman Empire fell. Obesius probably laughed. “I, Carumbus” is a worthy entry in the archive of historic retellings for The Simpsons. It doesn’t quite hit classic status, though, in spite of any implied Fat Tony intimidation.
It is one of the many episodes which will get funnier on repeated viewings. It won’t produce more laughs, but the references will seem more clever. There is a little too much respect and consideration for history’s follies than the majority of episodes like this. The Simpsons needs to find a new way to be sloppy and peripherally damaging. They need to fray the fabric of society again, like something you’d find in Santa’s Little Helper’s mouth. The soft Christian ribbing is heartening. Subtle subversion is fun, but there seems like there were missed opportunities for blatant evisceration. Homer couldn’t even see the entrails.

Sirius.
That voice.
He would have recognised Barty among thousands. Always. It had been ages since he'd heard him, he couldn't have said exactly for how long. It had been ages since he'd spoken to him. And yet.
That voice could not be ignored.
A voice, that wasn't even a cry, at most it was a whisper. His name, Sirius. In a way that no one had ever called him Sirius. Or at least not for a very, very, very long time. Loving and familiar, all soft, all honest. Full of trust and affection and admiration. Full of love.
Sirius.
A whisper, behind this curtain.
I am here.
It wasn't even a call. Not a plea. Just his name.
Sirius.
All around him, curses, shouting, rage and fighting. And the only people he had left in his life. There was Harry, his Harry, who looked the spitting image of James and Lily. Who was brave and who didn't shy away from confrontation, clever and shrewd. As popular as James and as gentle as Lily. The boy he wanted to see grow up. The boy he wanted to teach everything James and Lily could no longer. He loved the boy, he was the closest he would ever again get to his best friend - and at the same time, every moment with him was painful.
Then there was Dumbledore. Sirius could only see him from a distance, watching him struggle, with that look on his face that Sirius already knew so well. Facing, but cool. Friendly, but at a distance. He had been his teacher for years, then his mentor. Today, he couldn't say what Dumbledore was to him.
And then Remus. Moony.
His Moony.
He loved Remus. He had always been by his side, even now, after the death of their friends, after Azkaban; even now that Sirius barely really existed. He was his friend, his confidant. He loved him. He really did.
But the great love of his life was not Remus.
Sirius.
That was Barty.
Always just Barty.
Even when he wasn't around anymore. Even when they couldn't have each other for decades. Even when everything about it had been wrong. And he also knew he was dead. That it was irrational and stupid. That there was no chance there anymore. Barty was gone and so was Sirius.
And yet he could hear his voice.
Sirius.
A red light. And then there was Bellatrix's curse, hitting him right in the chest. A simple shock spell only. Sirius faltered, staggered. It wasn't a strong curse, his cousin was too wound up to cast accurately anymore. He should have just fallen over, the others would have helped him, he would have been fine in five minutes. Just a simple stupor.
Sirius, I'm here.
His eyes found 'Remus' as he fell. They looked at each other and his friend understood even before Sirius did. If he had to choose between a life in the afterlife with Barty or this, his choice was clear. Despite Harry, despite Remus, despite a life of freedom.
Sirius took a step to the side. And then he let go. Dropped, straight through the curtain, towards the voice.
Towards Barty.

It would always be like this between them, until the end: Barty always saw Sirius because Sirius let him look - but the other way round, Sirius would always miss far too many things, signs, clues, until it was too late.

soft barty crouch jr. headcannons, vol 1
barty got a white male cat for his first school year he doesn't speak a lot; only if he has something really important to say
is constantly cold, like his body doesn't know how to reach 36 degrees
studies a lot, but is also overwhelmingly smart, clever and gifted
tries everything he can to meet the expectations of Barty Crouch Senior but keeps failing
keeps his emotions hidden at all costs, but cries easily
avoids looking in the mirror, because all he can see is the big disappointment
tries to understand his feelings for boys by reading everything he can; works out if there are arithmancy codes for love; never dare to ask for help
is basically a really soft boy with a tender heart, touch and attention starved, very skinny
plays quidditch, but only because he think there is another way to be excellent at something
follows every rule he can
is curious about every rule break, because it really fucks with his head not to follow the rules
has white blond hair almost as if it holds no colour at all; sometimes Bartys feels like he didn’t even deserve a proper haircolour
blushes so fast
as soon as he gets nervous, he starts stuttering and his hands shake so badly
his first kiss is sirius (because we say so!)
his last kiss is also sirius (no dementor-bullshit on soft barty)
unfortunately, he gets sick from eating sweet stuff, so sirius helps him by letting him kiss the taste of sweets from his lips

"You've got a lot to teach your beautiful, clever boyfriend," Barty said with that careless grin on his lips. Sirius blinked, thinking for a moment that maybe Barty was just joking again, but he looked honest and sincere and maybe it was just a totally irrelevant second, a careless sentence, but it felt so big right now - Barty, since they'd been together, had never understood what Sirius saw in him, had never had anyone in his life think of him like that. He'd especially never believed himself that he could be the same, beautiful and smart and sexy and stunning and someone Sirius Black pined for. And now, for the first time, somehow he did see it. Sirius couldn't really say anything in response, he just looked at Barty with wide eyes. "I love doing that," he whispered softly, in awe, and he didn't comment on this discovery because he didn't want to ruin this magical moment. Yet he would have had a thousand words to say about how he saw Barty - but they still had a lot of time together for those.

His fingertips probed a little further, so that he was no longer just gripping the fabric of Barty's gown, but his thin arm as well. He was so thin, far too thin. ‘I'm glad you're with me,’ he said softly.
‘It's good that you're the last person I'll see in my life.’
