“Martha... How do you stop- How do you stop it?” “You don’t.”
Martha from Ravenous (1999) ~ requested by anonymous
#ravenous 1999#REQUESTED OVER A YEAR AGO I SHOULD ADD#i am SO very sorry that this took so long#i wasn't in a ravenous mood when you sent the request and then various Unforeseen Life Circumstances got in my way#and then i procrastinated on getting the blu ray for a bit#but - if it's any consolation - this is a MUCH higher-quality set than you would have gotten if i had made it right away#i'm remaking all my old sets with the blu ray footage - i'm OBSESSED#and it's soooooooooo much easier to work with than the black sa.ils blu rays thank GOODNESS#so lots and lots more goodies to come!#but i wanted to start with this one because i've been meaning to do it for SO long and life just kept getting in the way#i love Martha SO much - i def would have done a set for her eventually request or not#truly i am keeping it together until Cleaves' coat and the purple stole... then i just lose it#like. she loses everyone she loves to imperialist violence and then is forced to leave her home for her own survival#it's so awful#i'm so glad she survives - but it's still absolutely a tragedy (both for her and in general)#kudos to Antonia for insisting on the inclusion of the final shot of her walking out though... it's such a powerful image#in a tragic sense of her being forced off her land with literally only the clothes on her back#and in a hopeful sense that she DOES escape and live on... she isn't devoured by the system#it's just A Lot#i'm have a few more Martha sets planned that i'm really excited about as well!#one of her and Cleaves (in which i will shamelessly reuse a few of these gifs)#and one of... well... You Will See! :))))))))))))))))))))#stay tuned!!

notes: number 1) this can get outdated super easily… number 2) i also dont know how to link content as i dont use tumblr alot but upon request im remaking my twitter thread here number 3) im not putting the races in chronological order as im quite lazy
at the 2019 japanese gp, max and charles hit eachother into turn two.
max after the race on the crash:
“i just dont get it. there was no need to risk so much in turn two. cause at the end of the day, both of us had to pit.”
2019 austrian gp, 3 laps left into the race max overtook charles and won the grandprix.
charles at the postrace pressconference:
“as i said, ive done exactly the same thing from the first and the second lap so i didnt expect any contact on the second lap. as max said, i think he braked a little bit deeper. i dont know if he lost it or not but then there was the contact. i felt like i was quite strong in traction. on the first attempt i managed to have better traction and have my position. on the second one i couldnt do that cause i was off track.”
2019 silverstone gp, the race right after austria. max and charles closely battled for 10 laps straight
charles during the postrace press conference:
“the best move was probably the one on max, on the outside in copse, i think he just passed me and i passed him back around the outside of copse. i think that was definitely was one of the most exciting (moves) of the race… of my race!”
2020 sakhir gp, charles crashed into checo, forcing max to go wide and then also crash
max post race:
“i respect charles alot, hes a great driver but i think today was a bit too much. he asked me “what happened?” and i say “what do you mean “what happened” you crashed into sergio and i have to go around”. i think he will look back at the footage and i hope he will understand that that was maybe a bit too aggressive. which is a shame.”
charles on the beyond the grid podcast 2021, talking about his rivalry with max:
“its the same (their rivalry) at the moment its obviously a little bit deminished because i can not fight against him, unfortunately. but if you look at the fight in silverstone 2019, i think you can understand theres quite a bit of competition and its always been the case. i mean its nice; we have grown up together in karting weve been always fighting eachother and now we find ourselves again in formula 1. so its great and i cant wait to put the team back were it deserves to be and fight against max for the title.”
monaco gp 2021, during Q3 charles crashes which means max cant set a laptime
max postrace interview:
“he just clipped the wall initially and ended up where ive ended up twice [laughs] so its just unfortunate. ofcourse i am disappointed not to have a shot at pole but thats life, you know. sometimes you cant do it. i mean its fine, i dont think his lap should be deleted in the future if they want to make rule changes. i dont that would be fair.”
charles instagram post after the 2021 silverstone gp yes i am counting it too:
Tumblr media
max saying he prefers his rivalry with charles over the one he has with lewis, 2022
max to sky italy:
"i prefer what we have now because, first of all, charles i know very well, hes a nice guy, we are a similar age… on saturday night, we even had a laugh in paul ricard... we are hard competitors on the track and we will always try to beat each other, which i think is very normal, but outside of it you can have a good time as well, and thats what i really enjoy about this year."
max debunking that charles never forgave him for austria 2019 and racing together with him, 2022
max in a video interview:
"i never speak about these things with other drivers, i mean, it happens. ive lost wins as well, and its not the end of the world, you move on. i think charles is one of the most talented drivers in formula 1, and he will win many more races… i would say back in the day it was a little bit more difficult, but also we were very young and growing up and you are fighting for the same goal, right? now that youre in formula 1, i think it is really different. you are representing really big brands. so we get on very well now. we can have a good chat and enjoy our battles, and i think thats very nice. knowing each other for such a long time helps. weve spent so much time together, in a way."
2022 hungarian gp, max told the hungarian press he understands charles his frustration after the 2022 french gp
max to the hungarian press:
“everyone handles that (their disappointment) in a different way. some people need to reflect on it like that. at the time youre still a bit emotional from what just happened and maybe become a bit too emotional, but thats fine, people should be emotional, they should show their emotions."
charles on fighting with italian site corriere della sera, 2022 this is not an official translation sorry but i can link the source
charles:
“i like to deal with max, we have a similar level of aggression. we have fun, with respect. im not saying that last year there was no respect between max and lewis, but it seemed like a different duel than ours. but if we were to get to the end of the championship very close in points, the situation would be much more tense than it is now.”
max, also for corriere della sera in 2022
max:
“i have known charles since we were five years old, we are of the same generation and we grew up challenging ourselves on the track.”
max to viaplay, 2023 after charles crashed during Q3 of the miami gp, meaning he couldnt set a time and had to start from P8 (this is a livetranslation of mine post qualifying, so the quote isnt 100% spot on but you get the gist)
max:
“the red flag was annoying, but it happens on streetcircuits. it just sucks, i will have to cope and move on.”
monaco gp, charles had an interview with canal+ for its 10 year anniversary with formula 1. he got asked to name 10 drivers hes the closest with
charles:
“pierre without a doubt, carlos, lando, george, alex albon, yuki, lewis, max aswell eventhough most people dont think its the case but it is! esteban, and lance.”
this is it for now, i am a bit tired but thank the tumblr lords you can change posts later on so i can update it with ease later on. enjoys besties 🫡

I know literally no one is asking my opinion on this but, Persona 3 is my favorite Persona game and I just feel zero interest in P3 Reload.
It baffles me that anyone would create a remake that isn't a definitive version of the game. There's 3 versions of P3 and they could've merged them all together into a new full price remake with every feature and give no one any reason to ever look back, but this made too much sense. So it's gonna cost like 70 bucks and have less features than Persona 3 on the fucking PSP (or just different features, don't quote me).
A good recent example of how to does this is Metroid Prime Remastered. It takes the original, updates from the Wii Metroid Prime collection, and then just greatly updates the visuals and adds more control options. It's exactly what it needs to be, no more, no less. And there's no longer any reason to play the original because the remake works so well without compromising anything.
And then even if all that didn't bother me it just
Tumblr media
(x)
does not have the original vibe of Persona 3 at all in any images or footage I've seen. It doesn't feel like an actual remake of Persona 3, just Persona 3 with a Persona 5 coat of paint on it.

Alright, my fellow UY folks!! Since the new trailer has dropped, why don't we unpack everything they've shown us so far?
Or more specifically, what all chapters are getting adapted in the third cour (only third since they won't reveal footage for the fourth one till the third is over.)!!
Also, ignore the stupid quality since I took the pictures on my phone..
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First up is the Kurama - Ran - Rei two-parter!! Nice to see Kurama again since I was worried she would be a one time character since she didn't appear in the eye catches. However, I'm pretty sure this is going to be her last appearance since it's her final appearance in the manga (not counting cameos). It's one of the funnier Kurama chapters, so this will be great fun!!
Tumblr media
Next up is the 'Fantasy bubblegum' chapter!! Another one I didn't think which would be adapted since we see Ten order the key item in this chapter in the post credits of the love-love crystal ball episode. Maybe the order was delayed? Or Ten didn't use it till now? Who knows. Anyways, this is a pretty funny chapter and I'm excited to see how it turns out (Also BenOyu yuri, Let's goo!!!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AtaLum fans, Let's rejoice, because it looks like they're adapting "Love knows no barriers" aka the chapter where Lum gets hit with the rice cooker!!! This one is my favorite singular chapter in the series and I absolutely hated the original anime's version of this one so I hope the remake does this one justice!! I'm not sure whether the first one is from this chapter since Ataru's wearing his school uniform instead of his casuals, but maybe it's because of a few changes here and there. DavidPro, you better not disappoint me considering what the original did.
Tumblr media
Looks like we're going to get the chapter which introduces the Ryuunosuke's mom (Masako) saga. I'm not sure whether they'll adapt everything under this saga, but the first one seems to be there. I really like this chapter because we get a wholesome relationship between Ryu and Ataru's mom.
Tumblr media
THE BODYSWAP CHAPTER!!! This one comes a bit earlier from what I remember and not to mention, it's pretty hilarious (literally any chapter where Sakura has to deal with Ataru's BS is an A+ for me) so I'm super excited!!
Tumblr media
ASUKA, MY CHILD!! IT'S HER!! Finally one of my UY Blorbo's gets animated!! And considering the shot of her and Ton- chan, yes guys, they're keeping the incest. I've never understood why there were some who said they wouldn't adapt it but like, it's one of Asuka's main character points and the incest is clearly portrayed as wrong and unacceptable, similar to Ataru's lecherous behavior (They might still tone it down though). Anyways, I'm so excited for Asuka, I can't wait!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally, two very beloved and very important arcs!! First, I can't believe we're getting three AtaLum stories in this cour, I mean we deserve it after being fed with only one last cour. And second, I'm pretty sure both these arcs are going to be at least a whole episode long considering how big these two are. And I have to admit, the door realm looks so pretty.. and I'm so excited for Shingo, Inaba and their arcs, can't January come already???
And that's all for it!! Other than these, there were two to three shots I couldn't exactly place which chapter they belong to, so sorry about that. And I wanted to point out that the animation looks quite fluid in some scenes as well, so it looks like DavidPro is doing great work as expected. Anyways, UY is coming back once again on January 11th and I am so ready!! THE HYPE IS REAL!!!

I never played Karateka in the 80s, but as a big fan of Prince of Persia and Jordan Mechner's journals, I was stoked to hear that an interactive documentary about Jordan's prototypical cinematic platformer was in the works by Digital Eclipse.
Released this week, The Making of Karateka on the surface looks like any other game you buy through Steam ($20, Windows-only), GOG, or whichever favorite store or console you prefer (available also for Xbox, PS4/5, Switch). Once the thing loads though, you really get 3 things: a documentary, the original Karateka, and a new remaster.
The documentary part is an audio-visual slideshow retelling Jordan's development story starting with his teenage years pitching his earlier title Deathbounce to the publishing house Brøderbund. It's an interesting look into the iterative process, seen through correspondence letters, journal entries, and many playable builds at various stages of completion. After we reach the eventual rejection of that title, Jordan comes back with a prototype of a visual-narrative experience unseen on home computers. We get to follow Karateka's full life cycle from pre- to post-production, ending with the conception of its sequel (which eventually turned into Prince of Persia). It's a real treasure trove! Fellow pixel artists will appreciate the many graph-paper sketches and interactive overlays of final game sprites compared to rotoscoped outlines and filmed footage. There are also video segments, from a comprehensive breakdown of the music to interviews with other developers reflecting on the impact Jordan's games had on their careers. You'll even encounter a fan letter signed by the one and only "John Romero, Disciple of the Great Jordan and worshipper of the Magnificent Mechner!" (I kid you not, you can't make this stuff up).
Perhaps just as crucial for an interactive documentary like this, you can launch any of the floppy disks in the emulator, trying out various iterations and ports of Karateka.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The emulation is fantastic and lets you fiddle with display settings (monochrome or color display, scanlines, pixel perfect or zoomed) as well as enhance the frame rate. You can even rewind the many deaths you will face if you've never played the game before (like me). If you spend some more time obsessing over the weird artifacts of the Apple II hi-res graphics, you might even go down the rabbit hole of realizing that on the Apple II you didn't really paint colors as much as you used different monochrome dithering patterns that the graphics display would then turn into 4 different hues. A fascinating learning experience if you include some of your own research online!
youtube
Add to this the Commodore 64 and the Atari 8-bit versions to compare how the graphics got adapted across the earlier ports and you have a nice way to relieve the mid-80s with a bit of help from modern emulation (I did beat the C64 version without rewinding though!). I'd love to see more art from the other remakes, especially the 16-bit Atari ST port, but I understand their decision to omit playable versions of those due to the lower quality on the gameplay side of the translations.
This brings us to the final part of the package, the modern remaster. Unlike the 2012 complete reimagining of the game (with 3D graphics and all), Digital Eclipse approached the remake as the ultimate port of the original to an imaginary system along the lines of a 90s VGA PC.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's well done. Some of the fully-redrawn scenes are a bit overpainted for my taste (I'd prefer a pixel art rendition of the castle than a blurry photographic collage, although there were many games in the 90s that did take this approach), but the in-game graphics are really in style, including the smooth animations that are like one would imagine granted a beefier CPU. It's also a sort of director's cut with previously unseen scenes added, in particular, the battle with the leopard as a clever action-puzzle in the middle. The AI is unfortunately even less challenging than Jordan's implementation. As great as the 6-move fighting system could have been, you yet again resort to simply kicking away opponents as they tirelessly crawl into your range. There isn't even the nuance from the original where you were the one who had to approach some enemies with skilled timing. On the other hand, you now have optional goals and achievements that make the repetitive/easy combat work in your favor (stringing various combos, beating opponents or the level under a time limit …). As the Digital Eclipse president Mike Mika admits at the end of the welcome commentary mode, they didn't manage to achieve their perfect port, but they did come close.
In conclusion, I thoroughly enjoyed playing both the original as well as the remake and while the combat system lacks any sort of depth beneath its stunning animations, Karateka is instead a monumental experience for its presentation. Big characters with personality and realistic motion are displayed through cinematic camera cuts and story vignettes (3 years before Ron Gilbert came up with the word "cutscene"). There are details like animating the unfortunate falling off the cliff at the start of the game, or respectfully bowing to the first guard as they bow in return. Jordan's creative work is precious and worth the attention this release gifts it.
I highly recommend The Making of Karateka to all retro gamers and/or game developers for its immersive documentation which provides an experience that goes beyond the usual video documentaries. It's interactive—just like the subject it's talking about—something I want to see more in the future. And if the $20 by any chance seems high to you, consider that the original retailed at $35 (and that was in 1984 dollars).

FFVII was truly ahead of it's time with it's story and themes - i mean it came out in 1996, it opens with you aiding eco terrorists, one of the big bads is an energy company and the ultimate big bad was more or less driven mad by the horrible things they did to him as well as the planet's original inhabitants.
But also...at one point you basically go on holiday and Barret, a man with a gun for an arm who is the leader of the group of previously mentioned eco terrorists dresses in a sailor suit...
Tumblr media
...and at another point Red XIII, who is some kind of big cat (people keep calling him a dog but he is feline and I will die on this hill) stands on his back legs to disguise himself as a member of the army...
Tumblr media
...and around the same time Cloud, a tortured former soldier with a dark past, rides a dolphin...
Tumblr media
And I'm so happy that this stupid goofy moments have been preserved in the remake.
I've decided to tap out of the rest of the promo for Rebirth because the trailers are becoming too spoilery and Remake's launch trailer literally included footage from the final boss battle of the game so I wouldn't put it past Square Enix to do something like that again. But I am so glad to know this absolute stupidity is awaiting me come February 29th.

i wouldnt actually want it - im so tired of constant reboots and remakes - but the groundhog day musical is making me daydream about a truman show musical. apparently someone did that but i cant find any footage/the review is frustratingly vague, but one thing they did was the musical numbers were apparently non-diegetic which i think is almost a disservice. i think itd be fun if its very clear that its explicit that the songs are being sung in-universe, and this is something truman is used to. except, while everyone in his life is well-practiced or skilled in music, truman is always sort of stumbling behind, either by not having great rhymes or being off-rhythm to indicate his feelings of not quite understanding the world. people LOVE setting him up for solos or duets and hes just not good at it. one thing the review mentioned was christoff feeding song lines to actors during that one scene which i think is a cool choice. as the show progresses truman would probably start singing less and less, but ensemble members from outside the world providing music instead. imagining the boat scene to be largely instrumental with sylvia/other "free truman" members providing some occasional singing. sorry this is insane. also im fantasizing about how theyd stage it now. a lot of bright lights. heavy use of television screens (like in the beginning of groundhog day). truman actually walking off the stage into the audience and out the back door maybe. sorry im supposed to be doing homework.

Hey there, are you new to the Resident Evil fandom and want to know more about this weird blond guy with the sunglasses? Maybe you only play Dead by Daylight and want to know what his deal is without having to comb through a 20+ game series for his appearances? Are you trying to write a fanfic and can't think of anything for him to say, outside of constantly proclaiming his right to godhood?
Then have I got the resources for you!
(don't trust the fan wikis. They do things like claim that a man with one of the most Irish surnames in the world is Italian, just because his parents have some implied organized crime connections)
Ok now that you're in here I will reveal that the real purpose of this post is to spread the good word of original flavor Wesker, who I think is a really interesting villain with more complexity than people might expect. It doesn't look like Capcom is ever going to remake code veronica, which has a significant portion of his story, and there's a ton of his lore locked in a rail shooter most people never played, so I'm here to help fill in some knowledge gaps.
To start off, here is Wesker's Report 1. This is Wesker himself summing up the first 3 games for you, with glorious footage of the original playstation graphics:
youtube
Don't panic it's actually only 22 minutes long, the rest is an untranslated interview with the game directors.
Bam boom, you know what Wesker was doing from 1998 through 2000. Now let's step back in time a little and talk RE 0, the prequel game that explains how the outbreak that started it all happened in the first place. This is the story of Wesker and his buddy Birkin's past mistakes coming back to haunt them with a zombie-leech army (the past mistake in this case is disposing of your mentor's body improperly):
youtube
Stepping even further back in time we have Wesker's Report 2, which talks about his early years at Umbrella. This was only ever released in Japan, but fans have done a translation and gotten it voice-acted. This video has both the report and a compilation of all Wesker's scenarios in Umbrella Chronicles (the rail shooter this-is-the-story-so-far game):
youtube
It's long because it includes the gameplay footage. If you just want to read the report instead, google project umbrella Wesker's Report 2. You can also find UC's cutscenes separately on youtube. Wesker's scenarios are Beginnings, Rebirth, and Dark Legacy. UC condensed a lot of stuff and made some…odd story changes (especially to RE 3. Poor, poor RE 3), but it also added fun new stuff for Wesker to do, like beating up his creepy masochistic ex-boss. Godspeed, Wesker.
Now rumor has it that we are going to get Ada's campaign added to RE 4 remake eventually, but we don't have it yet, so until then here's their interactions from the original (lovingly updated to HD by fans):
youtube
RE 5 was Wesker's last (chronologically) and probably most significant appearance in the series, not to mention the version of him that's been everywhere since, but I'm not actually going to talk about him. To my eyes, RE 5 Wesker is a fun villain in his own right, he just isn't Wesker. He feels like a completely different character to me. If you've watched these videos you might have noticed this already.
RE 5, if you wish to give the writers the benefit of the doubt, is a story of Wesker having a complete mental breakdown after finding out certain retcons truths about his past. He's not usually like that. For one thing, count how many times he mentions being a god in any of this footage. Go on. I'll wait.
Classic flavor Wesker is calm, cold, and calculating. He loves pitting enemies against each other and then running off with the spoils. He does very little grandstanding and he's not all that hammy. He's pragmatic to a fault, and a master at shifting his plans around to work on the fly. He also doesn't give a flying fuck about eugenics, or "saving the world", he's in it for power and money and building better monsters just because he can. There. I said it. I feel better for it.

Visual Effects in Only Friends MV part 2
The second song on the Only Friends OST dropped today; So What? by the amazing Ford Arun. Much like the first MV for Only Friends, this one is also has visual frameworks that made me stop and stare.
youtube
Just like my first post on this subject, where I talked about the late 90s/early 00s aesthetic of the show as well as controlled voyeurism (aka we only see what they want us to see), these themes show up again here, but a little differently. Unlike the Let's Try MV and the BTS vids which use multiple different effects and transitions as well as framing a lot of the scenes to look like (possibly) 90s camcorder footage, So What? has two visual effects (I think technically three, and I'll point out why I say it this way in a minute).
The first one is the camcorder footage effect. Except that it's even different from the Let's Try MV. While the Let's Try MV has the "play" prompt onscreen and time stamps, it now, to me, feels more like CCTV video than camcorder video. The video effect on So What? is definitely camcorder footage because it is time and date stamped.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, the time and date stamp is February 1st, 2020 at 6:06pm for every screen it appears on, which to me cannot be an accurate date/time for any of the scenes. Several of these scenes were from episodes 4, 5, 6, or potentially yet to air. Chuem drops info about Covid in episode one and in February of 2020, we were so early into the pandemic during that time that I'm not sure she would have referred to it so casually, plus with no Covid precautions being taken onscreen it does feel the show is set currently (aka 2023).
Why this date? Why 6:06pm? WHAT IS JOJO TRYING TO SAY HERE? Is this a specific reference to something upcoming on the show? Is this date famous in Thailand for something? Did he just pull a date and time out of a hat?
Onto the second effect: the yellow text on the screen is back! It was heavily used as a visual effect in episode one, and after a discussion with @ignoranaxed I did add it to my Narrative Frameworks post where I'm tracking visual effects on the show. We discussed whether or not this was an homage or reference to SKAM Norway, an extremely popular coming of age teen drama that had an amazingly done queer season (Season three. If nothing else, stop what you're doing and go watch SKAM Norway season three. You can thank me later). The show was so popular it has been remade in Spain, Italy, France, Germany (named Druck), Belgium (named WtFock), the United States and has even been announced as a Korean (BL?) drama for next year.
Tumblr media
Is this an actual homage? I came down on the side of maybe. I can't swear it is, but I can't say it isn't. That yellow text on the screen is iconic due to SKAM Norway, and it is used in every single remake of the show (if Korea doesn't use it, I will cry. Also, if Korea doesn't release/air it in the same way, I will cry). Leaving that aside, the yellow text is in Thai, and as yet, I have no idea what it says because my subs only translated the song lyrics, not the onscreen words. If anyone who knows Thai can help me with this, I would love you forever because there's one other thing that shows up in yellow on the screen, and it's this:
Tumblr media
WHY AN ELLIPSES, JOJO? WHAT DID IT SAY BEFORE THIS? I NEED TO KNOW WHY IT'S TRAILING OFF. IS IT TO BE CONTINUED? THE NOT KNOWING WILL DRIVE ME INSANE.
Onto the third , but maybe not really an effect: Is Ford photoshopped in here?
Tumblr media
I ask this because if he is (and I can't quite tell but I think maybe?) then does that mean this is future footage coming up on the show? Or, like Let's Try MV did with it's extra SandRay footage in the car, was this just shot for the MV? I'm curious to see what people think on this.
Now for the rest of the MV where I just melt down because WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS DRAMA BETWEEN YO AND PLUG, JOJO? YOU CAN'T DO THIS. Also, is this Sand hugging Yo?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can't do this to my girl. This will hurt.
Do we think this is Boston and Nick potentially going ice skating or roller skating? Because if it's roller skating, JOJO I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER.
Tumblr media
In summary, the visual frameworks are back in play once again and what they're choosing to show and how feel important.

The 1963 film is a comedy about the theft of the Pink Panther diamond. It had an animated title sequence by Ken Harris for Friz Freleng. Both were Warner Bros/Looney Tunes animators. The Panther is more catlike here. Again he is a representation of a diamond used in the film's plot, which has a telltale flaw resembling a leaping panther.
Peter Sellers' character of the bumbling detective Inspector Clouseau proved popular, and returned in "A Shot In the Dark" (1964). Alan Arkin played a version of the character in 1968 which was less successful.
The animated Pink Panther character was refined further by Ken Harris and Richard Williams in "Return of the Pink Panther," in 1975, which established this as the title for the film series, and made the Panther "more elegant." Tony White animated the character for "The Pink Panther Strikes Again" (1976), for Richard Williams. Sellers returned again for Revenge of the Pink Panther (1978).
Friz Freleng (with David H. DePatie) did a series of animated shorts with the Pink Panther character in 1964 and 1965, after Warner Bros' animation studio had shut down in 1963. Warners tried to start the studio up again, but Freleng found the Pink Panther series more lucrative. These shorts were co-directed by Hawley Pratt who continued the series for MGM/UA. Other directors took over and the series continued until 1978, theatrically and on television. Inspector Clouseau, and/or variations on him, are also in these cartoons as the "little man" who the Panther torments. There was also The Ant and the Aardvark (1969-1971).
The DePatie-Freleng studio was bought by Marvel comics around 1980. Marvel later produced series like Muppet Babies.
The name was occasionally brought back for TV series "Pink Panther and Sons" (1984-86), "The Pink Panther" (with Matt Frewer voicing the character, 1993-96), and "Pink Panther and Pals" (2010)
After Peter Sellers' death in 1980, there were many unsuccessful attempts to keep the Pink Panther live-action film series going, by Blake Edwards and producers. 1982's Trail of the Pink Panther briefly features a WWII-era Clouseau played by Danny Peacock, and unused footage of Sellers. Curse of the Pink Panther (1983) features Ted Wass. Son of the Pink Panther (1993) featured Roberto Benigni.
In 2006, Steve Martin starred as the bumbling Inspector Clouseau in a remake film of "The Pink Panther," with Kevin Kline and Beyonce Knowles. The film got a sequel in 2009. As is now customary, the films feature the Pink Panther diamond and have an animated title sequence with the animated Pink Panther character.

It worries me a little bit that might not be able to be objective about the Soska Sisters' movies anymore. They've been horror community darlings since 2012's American Mary, and it's been nice to have some goth as fuck women active in horror movie production. But the movies are not that good is sort of the thing.
So, Festival of the Living Dead just dropped from them on Tubi. It's got a banger of an opening, beautiful use of footage from the original Night of the Living Dead to set it up as a kind of alternate world sequel. Conceptually, that's really interesting, but in the execution it's just another middle of the road zombie movie. It's fine, above average with the interesting ideas and sort of angling for diverse protagonists while doing very little with those choices, and splitting the time about fifty-fifty between petty, nagging high-school drama arguments and zombie infection infighting, which everyone in the world has seen elsewhere. It has a couple pretty good bits that I won't spoil but like the vast majority of zombie movies in the last forty odd years or so it doesn't stand apart, and never gets as interesting as the Night of the Living Dead / Return of the Living Dead series.
Which is weird, because much the same as their less-interesting and less-boundary breaking Rabid remake, Festival of the Living Dead's big marketing push is through Romero's Night of the Living Dead. Calling it a spiritual sequel, or following in the foot steps of the original is accurate to what the presumed goal was, but disingenuous in the implications that something about Festival would represent a revolutionary change, maybe even a paradigm shift in the genre. It's difficult to view a movie as boundary breaking when it's core thesis seems to be how unfair it is to be critical of conformity to social norms and being unfairly maligned because of having conventional tastes.
Between the very chaste and heteronormative version of Rabid they created, along with the Hays Code-esque comeuppance of the protagonist in American Mary, it's just difficult to find any substance underneath the fashionable punk rock surface of the Soska sisters' work. I keeping bashing my head against their stuff because I want their work to be as cool as they look, but I'm getting nothing back.
