From the days the founders of Keposis stood on the islands with no company but themselves and the incubators that hosted them, it became tradition to wish for fortune for their friends in their respective homeworlds. It’s somewhat of a rite of passage to some, a tradition to others. As Said the Whore of Babylon (frequently abbreviated as AStWoB) is an American metalcore band from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 2019 by Rhiannon Wolfe and Jezebel Eiden-Desmond, its current lineup comprises Wolfe, Reed Meadows, Joel Talley, Poetry Dorian, and Corbin Kreery.
Omen Brokebone is one year out of a hellish marriage when she's contacted by Selene Mabins - talent manager for a band called As Said the Whore of Babylon - with an invitation to join their crew as a makeup artist. Working to make a new life and a name for herself, Omen accepts. She doesn't expect to meet Reed Meadows again. And she certainly doesn't expect to fall in love with him and his bandmates.

• Reed Meadows (he/him) •/ The lead guitarist. Has never been in a band before AStWoB but still took to it like a fish to water. A childhood friend of Omen's, though he hasn't spoken to her in 8 years.
• Joel Talley (he/him) •/ The drummer, though he's skilled with guitar, bass, piano, keyboard, and vocals. Also a songwriter and self-taught producer. He is much more humble about his skills than one would assume.
• Poetry Dorian (he/she), or Poe •/ The bassist. Youngest child of a beautiful and famous Italian actress, but much less conventional than his family. Autistic and goth.

• Jessamine Meadows (she/her) •/ Reed's 11-year-old daughter, born when he was just 16. Feisty and a little mean, but adores her father and has easily accepted the rest of the band as her parents.
• Daxton "Dax" Coffin (he/him) •/ Wolfe's 9-year-old son, born when she was 17. Raised by his father. Has not met the band and only sees Wolfe a few times a month.
• Villanelle Dorian (she/her) •/ The 5-year-old daughter of Poe and her ex-wife, Aamirah Akmal Dorian. Currently living in Washington with her mother, but is due to live with Poe soon.
• Jezebel Eiden-Desmond (she/her) •/ Former guitarist for AStWoB (now the vocalist of The Womb That Devours) and best friend of Corbin. Considers the band to be her unbiological family. Randal's soulmate, though she doesn't know that yet.
• Randal Denvers (he/him) •/ Omen's cousin. A mechanic and for-fun bassist. Jezebel's soulmate, though he doesn't know that yet. Belongs to Ceejay.

omg first of all thank you so much 💖
and second, bb&gg are the initials of babylon boy and gossamer girl. a duology i co-write with my partner @teddywriting that is titled home habitat.
if you've scrolled through the tags you've got the general idea of what it's about but here are the basics: it follows our characters theodore "theo" rayes and maría paz "maripaz" vega, who each ran away from home for different reasons. they meet on the street and the plot of book 1 (babylon boy) follows their year of homelessness and how their relationship grows and changes. it is a very "characters over plot" book as the plot is really the emotional journey mari and theo go through, dealing with matters of want and trust and companionship. i'm not saying much about book 2 (gossamer girl), just that it follows the same character > plot structure and deals with matters of family and second opportunities.
throughout babylon boy theo is dealing with a drug addiction he is vehemently denying and maripaz is dealing with problems related to shame. talking about bb&gg is difficult without just explaining the entire character arcs these two go through. they first meet when theo helps maripaz shoplift some food and he steals one of the two necklaces she was wearing, this one with an angel pendant (this is important). upon fatefully meeting again theo returns the necklace to maripaz, having felt guilty for stealing it at all, and they form an alliance to help each other survive. the relationship obviously has a rocky start, not aided by each of them dealing with their own internal problems that they make external through arguments and once even ending in a physical fight.
if categorised in the fell first/fell harder, maripaz would be fell first. problem being her backstory includes her literally having just left a neglectful boyfriend that poisoned her rose-tinted look of romance, though it didn't kill it completely as maripaz is at her core a romantic. so, when she begins to catch feelings for theo she buries them and buries them deep. this would make theo the fell harder half of the equation, as he goes through a mini arc of realising he's demisexual and maripaz has the privilege of being the first person he's ever felt romantic and sexual attraction towards.
the real progression of events is a bit hazy. teddy and i do a lot of bite-sized rps that are very call and response, very "yes, and," so whatever happens is revealed to us as it happens. the book properly is not something we've started yet as we're either too busy (teddy) or burned out (me) for it atm. we've got around... 5... ? moments decided, if you don't count the meeting at the start. one of those being the physical fight i mentioned above. said fight is whom we have to thank for home habitat existing at all, we revisited it and a story with character arcs and a whole sequel sprung out. the other scenes are the church scene, the pool scene, the halo scene, and the ending! (not explaining any of those, sorry). i always have a really hard time trying to talk about mari and theo. they are so much the result of their environment that i feel i need to explain not just them but every other character in this universe so people understand. and then you'll be stuck hearing me talking about every single character because i'm also unwell about all of them.
home habitat is a bit of a change of form for what is "base canon" for mari&theo. mari and theo's twin sister bee are usually best friends, a very "extrovert adopts introvert" situation. tge character alex moore and theo are usually best friends, it is a Thing(tm) that they are best friends, in some aus they even live together. but because of the setting of home habitat, mari and bee have never met and neither have theo and alex. in fact, alex and mari were friends in school in this version. i am a little sad people might never get to see that version of them, as these four as a Group(tm) are very dear and special to me.

I picked the list of my favorite characters according to one simple idea: Everytime they are on screen I rejoice. There are so many more characters I enjoy, but the following are probably my favorite. Yet, it was really hard, so a bit further down below I have to add some "honorable mentions".
Also, I'll spare you the explanations, because then this post would be too lengthy, if I am going to gush about those characters and why I love them. And it is in no ranking order as I would not know how to rank them. I would fail big time at that, because each has a special place in my heart.

So this is it. I think there is a strong parallel in all of these characters. They are not what they appear to be at first. They are complex, they have so much depth which is often overlooked and they are bad-ass in their own way. All of them are idealists and fighters in their sometimes own way. I like that kind of characters, the stories around them and the moral dilemmas they have to face oftentimes.

If you’re a roleplay blog with Star Trek muses, I’m following you for either @sixthweyoun or @adriftxshifter. Possibly both. The former is, of course, Weyoun 6 in an AU where he survived his episode. The latter is my very lost Changeling OC, Zara. Both of them are in dire need of friends. I also run @founderpropaganda and @is-the-vorta-post-cute as less serious ask/gimmick blogs.
If you’re not a roleplay blog, I’m following you for my personal, @roguetelepaths. I have a wide array of fandoms, but right now it’s mostly DS9 and Babylon 5.
If you are specifically an aspec culture blog or a relationship anarchy blog, I’m following you for @selfidentifiednerdyprude (my aspec culture/pride blog) or @trustedcompanionship (my interpersonal theory blog, which focuses a lot on my lived experiences as an aro/ace person in an emotionally and spiritually intimate relationship that is power exchange but is not BDSM.)

11. 𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍: Most stories that I watch/read/enjoy, honestly, function as creative inspiration for me in one way or another. Just the sort of ‘I’d love to make something kinda like that’ drive is a big part of what keeps me going creatively.
12. 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘 𝐁𝐄𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐃 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐔𝐑𝐋: It’s from a Babylon 5 quote. I kinda used the quote as the header on my previous RP blog - it’s from Delenn, when she’s explaining to the Grey Council just what it is that makes her regard humans as so special, but I thought a select portion of it could also describe my muses very well too - and when I moved blogs I continued the emphasis on that quote on my header, muses pages, and promo video... so it just made sense, to me, to draw from it for my url too. The full sentence is “Out of their differences comes symmetry, their unique capacity to fight against impossible odds.”
13. 𝐅𝐔𝐍 𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐓: My interest in making my own animation came, originally, from making gif icons for a Disney-based RP site I was on a while ago. I didn’t have a handy screen-to-gif converter at the time, so making gifs entailed the time-consuming process of skipping through the clip I was using one frame at a time, screencapping each one individually, and pasting them into Photoshop to make the gif. It was a lot of work; but it also gave me a huge appreciation for all the little details and subtleties that went into every motion. It was after about two-and-a-half years of doing that that I kinda thought “I’d like to try that myself...”
That first attempt, heh, almost put me off the process for life! But somehow, despite not being at all satisfied with the end result, I had friends commenting on it to say it looked good, and I kinda... found myself drifting back to trying it again, now and then - and eventually turned out a two-minute-long short that I was very happy with at the time. Eventually, I actually went looking up advice and instruction online; but even still, a lot of what I learned of making animation, I just learned from studying movies and shows in that frame-by-frame way until I felt like I understood what was going on.
