“I’ll run home and get your extra pair for you, and have Jacob grab the kids. Can I trust you to stay here and not blindly injure yourself again?” She teased. When you nodded, she gave you another kiss and left to get your things. The peaceful silence didn’t last long, after a few minutes your door was open again and your students, as well as Jacob, came running in. “Here they are! Sorry we’re a bit late, I had to get Melissa’s kids too.” He said, skipping up to your desk. “Thank you, I owe ya one,” you said to him.
“I think you owe Melissa one. You’re lucky she’s so kind and attentive to you. I’ve only known her for a few years but I've never seen her so happy with someone before,” Jacob said honestly. His words sank in, he knew. As if he could read your mind, he started talking again. “I won’t say anything, but I doubt it’ll be a secret for long. Schemmenti is only this soft for you,” With that Jacob left, leaving you with pink cheeks at the realization of just how sweet and caring Melissa was with you. Every time you entered the room, her tough exterior melted away, and only for you.
You settled your students back into their seats, having them come meet you at your desk if they needed anything. Before long, your door was open again, and there she was. Melissa waved to your students as she was greeted with tiny “Hello Ms. Schemmenti!’s”
Coming to you, she set your extra pair of glasses down in front of you and leaned against the edge of your desk. “Here honey, is your head feeling better?” She asked. Although you couldn’t see, you knew her face was full of concern. “Yeah, a lot better.” You put your glasses back on and let your vision adjust for a moment. “Thank you, Mel. How is it already almost March omfg.
Anyways Happy Valentine's Day month!!! This year, I was swamped with work, so I didn't get a chance to make Valentine's Day art. I did make a Valentine's piece last year though.
BUT we did have beloved @magunalafay make these Valentine's Day cards this year for the community!!! <3 If you missed it, well Happy Valentine's Day!!!!!

This month was pretty busy for me, but I'm super happy with the progress made this month ^^ I feel like I've started the year off in a pretty good groove after it being all over the place for a hot second, yay!!!
This past month, Etza and Druk's routes. With the revamped demo finishing its revisions, it left a lot more time for me to focus writing on full route development.
If you missed the announcement, I FINISHED Etza's first draft!!! YAAAYYY!!!! FINALLY!!!!!!
That means 4/6 routes are finished in terms of the base writing, which is so exciting to MEEEEE. I've always seen Etza's draft as The Milestone because with their route finished, it would mean the four Central routes are done writing. And to me, while there's a good chuck of writing left, we are nearing the end of it.
There's only two routes left and that means it's about ~100k words which is CRAZY compared to when I had ~300k to write (:cries:). Even if that sounds like a lot, once I start chipping away at those routes, that 100k goes into the "double digits" aka 90k...80k... etc. and that makes me want to pee my pants
We also finished editing Druk's route, yay!!! So we reached a lot of milestones this month ^^
We are nearing the end of the Vui background commissions. It's very bittersweet; I'm so used to mentioning him in my devlogs now </3 There's only like 3(?) more BGs left for him to make, and then all of the BGs for the game will be finished. Very Wild! I think Alaris will have 25ish BGs, and they are all Stunning.
It's been a while since I showed you all a BG, so I'll give you all a preview of one I just got in!

I personally have been doing a lot of sprite work this month to finish the final art assets for the demo. I added some expressions to Druk and Aisa that I'd been procrastinating (I don't even know why I was procrastinating them). And I finally finished Mom and Kimura's updated sprites! Patreon already saw them, but I'll show the new versions here too ^^

Aside from sprite work, much of my "art" time has been on finishing up/putting together the last of the screens for the GUI. Specifically, I got THIS BABY up and running. She is my crowning glory.

Oh my god.... You all have NO IDEA how much of a pain this was to code. There is a transparency gradient going on in the left and right B&W previews (courtesy of community programming angel feniks/shawna).
And then the effort to have the Titles and Descriptions of the Previewed Date change tilted me on Multiple Occasions. But we finally got it to work thanks to bestie @siyo-koy pointing out I just coded one stupid "if" statement wrong LJAFSLIEFJIEJ. But the effort was WORTH IT because I'm so proud of her!!! I hope you all like it too as a way to relive Free Time Dates. I had a lot of fun with the Titles and descriptions.
I also put together the Stats and Affection Screens
Preview of Personality Stats & Affection Screens
So I coded both of them a bit differently from each other. The Personality Screen shows you a breakdown of your traits so far. Think of it like a pie graph! So in the preview picture, your choices indicate you are 33% Brave, 16% Charismatic, etc. I felt like this was a more natural way to portray personality rather than how many bravery points you've collected so far!
And then for Affection, it works in a more traditional way, where it counts it based on how many you've gotten out of the total amount you can get. This way, as the story progresses, how close you are to the person reflects how much your relationship as developed!
I've also added little descriptions underneath each that change depending on the percentage. So for example, if you have gotten 82% of the affection points for Kuna'a, the description of your relationship might change as well hehe
Other than that, I've mainly focused on getting the demo together. We released the beta demo earlier this month (? LOL). And the feedback has been so kind!!
A lot of this month was spent polishing so that the demo can be ready for early access and eventually public release. I updated sprites, made sure music crossfades with each other so that transitions between soundtracks feel smoother, I added/polished all of the screens I needed to (e.g., Memory Room, Full Credits, Cleaning Music Room, Adding Stats Screens), and I FINALLY as of yesterday added the Voiced Lines!!
One thing I added in the Extended Demo that I'm really happy with is the use of Extended Pronouns (courtesy of Angel Feniks). Below is a preview of how it works now!

Basically, you can choose multiple pronouns for yourself, including custom pronouns (e.g., xe/xem, fae/faer, etc.). On top of that, you can choose how often you'd like the pronouns to alternate (e.g., every line versus every scene) and what kind of terms you'd like to be used for you (e.g., neutral vs. masculine vs. feminine)!
Overall, the demo is getting closer and closer to release!!! Early Access will hopefully be ready by the end of this week or next, so if you all would like access to it, please feel free to subscribe to my Patreon for this upcoming month! Available to Wyvern tier ($5) and up.

rad yearbook pt2.... dateables and luke ver (raph, mephi and thirteen might be ooc.. but theres not enough content of them so i shall shove some down your throats /lovingly) also sorry for the dia favoritism he's my baby mwah
simeon, luke, raphael, solomon, and thirteen under the cut <3
i can see diavolo kind of disliking picture day, in a way. he has to shove away sunshiny, golden retriever ‘dia’ and become calm, collected, firm ‘lord diavolo, prince of the devildom’. he hates it :(( he’s constantly uptight and he can’t seem to relax. he probably isn’t smiling in his photo although he should be.. because he’s gotta keep his noble attitude and such. i feel like he has a whole spread dedicated to him in the yearbook. all those candid shots of him hosting balls (hehe) and at student council meetings (mephi had the time of his LIFE sitting in on that meeting. he was constantly snickering and taking photos at random times to catch people off guard. lucifer was pissed but couldn’t do anything bc he was “on official newspaper club business” in reality he just needed references for princess dia and prince lucifer stickers) dia will laugh heartily when he sees the look of displeasure on your face when you see his picture. he thinks its funny that you think his face looks so stiff and weird. no one’s ever said that to him before. he’ll fucking BEAM at you if you say he looks so much cuter when he smiles and that you would rather have a happy smiling prince than a dull one. ur so cute he loves you sm.
barbatos probably spends more time worrying about diavolo than himself. he’s got to press dia’s uniform, shine his shoes, help him shave, pluck his eyebrows, literally full spa treatment. barb still looks clean crisp and professional in his photo though. idk i don’t feel like there’s much to say about him and the yearbook. it’s just another day of the week for him. he probably does quality control on the yearbooks before they come out?? idk how to explain this but i feel like he’s the most reliable person to do it, lucifer is too busy, and the other brothers would seize the chance to do something malicious or just not care enough to be thorough about it. he supervises and reads the little blurbs in the yearbook and makes sure mephistopheles hasn’t done anything. is wearing his gloves in every picture. if you ask him why he’ll probably just say that it’s become a habit at this point (his butlerness is bleeding into his soul). if you say you like his hands gloveless he’ll chuckle and offer a sly “is that so...” while making a mental note of it in his head.
mephistopheles and the yearbook... where to start... ive talked about him so much already i think we all know that that yearbook season is a field day for this man. he cooks up sinister mischievous plots all year in preparation.. i swear he has a notebook where he writes new ideas he comes up with to sabotage prank the yearbook and all the students!!! now, listen idk much ab this man, but from the bare minimum ive seen, i think he holds a slight grudge against lucifer.. (ex-friend of dia?? LMAO LUCIFER TOOK HIS SPOT..) anyways i think mephi is a spiteful bitch and that's why he does all of his shit to ruin lucifers rep??? IDK IVE LITERALLY JUST WATCHED HIS INTRO VID BUT IT MAKES SENSE RIGHT? anyways he always kind of resents the yearbook a lil bit bc if that maybe.. he def interviews you for the yearbook and asks u a ton of personal questions ab the brothers and dia hoping to get dirt on everyone, but ur answers are so cute and genuine and it shows that u care a lot ab all of them he just finds himself thinking ur rlly pretty and he wants u to talk about him like that he was supposed to hate u what the hell happened anyways u have a cute little interview in the yearbook now he couldnt bring himself to ruin it (HAHAHAHS WHAT A SIMP)
simeon finds the yearbook extremely interesting. he doesn't care so much about his own picture, but he LOVES looking at everyone else's. it gives him good ideas for new characters!! u and him would literally sit and make up dramatic backstories and personalities for different demons based on their pics HAHS itd turn into a whole storyline and simeon is literally making mental notes. in his yearbook photo, he just has his usual serene smile. he doesn't do anything special, although i think luke would wanna help him comb his hair or fix his slutty outfit :} (ok but fr why are the demons so covered up and raph and sim are literally walking around in exposing outfits like hello raph has his tits all the way out and asmo has a scarf, jacket AND a shirt underneath???) i feel like simeon would also send a picture of his yearbook pic to micheal and tell him about the whole process idk i feel it in my bones. if you tell him about yearbook signing he will ask everyone for their notes and signatures to commemorate his time in the devildom (he'll read your little note over and over when ur away... he cant help it ur so cute and he misses u sm)
i think luke is really nervous about the yearbook but the moment u ask him about it he's like "im not nervous quit treating me like a child!! >:((" simeon silently nods in your direction to confirm that yes luke is very nervous. he just wants to make a good impression!! its his first yearbook, he's gotta let everyone know that he's a capable, mature angel, worthy of micheal's praise! (he just wants micheal to be proud of him shh dont tell him i said that). when hes getting ready to have his picture taken, he takes extra care to fix his jaunty little hat, smooth his coat, brush his hair, etc. i think he tries to do a serious smile but he just comes out looking so cute that when u see his pic u unconsciously let out an 'awwww' and he pouts and tells u he is NOT cute and he is NOT a chihuahua that joke is DEAD. *pointedly glares at mammon* anyways his yearbook pic is really cute just dont tell him that hehe u and simeon can gush ab it later
raphael doesn't give two shits ab the yearbook i think. and he absolutely doesn't understand when u ask if theyre actually letting him wear his outfit hes just like "....yes? why would they not?" and still doesnt understand when you tell him that its kinda inappropriate but u still think its rlly hot. well. u can't see all of his abs in the pic but u can see most of em so ur sufficiently fed. solomon is kinda excited!! i think its one of the human things he's never really gotten to do so he's kinda pumped ab it :)) i think he just has a cute little smile on his face the whole day this is a new experience for him <33 he asks u all about yearbooks and picture day in preparation. he feels more connected to his humanity!!! i think after meeting u he just kinda realized that he missed being an average human, so he's been romanticizing every second of ur time together AWWWW altho sometimes hes a little mf shit >:[ will request to meet up w u in the human world to go through ur old yearbooks togther!! he thinks little u is so cute!! Getting the Bant Back Together: Alara Contest Winners

Congratulations to @bread-into-toast, @izzet-always-r-versus-u, and @spooky-bard for winning this week's contest!
@bread-into-toast — Bant Paragon
Bant and Enlist are a match made in heaven, or wherever the angels of Bant live. The name is perfectly reasonable, not too much, perfectly descriptive enough, and surprising that it hasn't been used already. Triple enlist is absolutely a wakening slap, I'll say that much. What I love about this card is that you can enlist the butts off your creatures if you want to smack someone, but a single multicolored creature can get the job done. This is a uniquely decisive design that offers so much more than it seems at first glance. You'll have to invest a little in white, but perhaps the environment is more of a flavorful allowance than a precise measure of everyone-gets-mana-fixing.
Curiosity does drive me here, as does a little bit of nostalgia. Alara certainly had its pips, and it had some weird pips at that. Committing to double colors felt like a bit of a risky miracle. You absolutely could—triple pips if you so chose! But for a three-color environment? Risky, risky, risky. Double here ain't so bad, but you're still encouraged to branch out. So hybrid maybe? Who knows! Or the power here is simply asking for enlistment, white with a splash, a centering. The notion of this knight finding their allies while retaining their central strength is still powerful in its own emotional right, with the single attacker calling back to exalted naturally as well. Thoroughly enjoyable and thoughtful choices were made here. Love this card as a limited tempo beater and a potential mono-white/hybrid aggro constructed card.
@izzet-always-r-versus-u — Tidehollow Salvage
I mean, hell, c'mon, it's pretty wonderful. I'll talk about the mechanics afterwards, but the flavor? I'll admit: I don't like the Phyrexians invading all the worlds at once. I didn't like the MOM story as much as I could've, I was a huge fan of the ONE world but not as much the invasion aspect, and having my poor baby plane of Alara infected with these guys wasn't my idea of a good time. Here, you've infused that nostalgic factor with a post-conflict eeriness and a grotesque emotional reality on top of a neat draw spell. Yeah, the perfection of Esper is steeped in inequality! Tezzeret was sympathetic for a while! He got really messed up! Etherium is scarce! It still kind of sucks underground here! I didn't know a lot about the Alara storyline when I started playing, but the feeling for the shards was always there. Bant's casts felt uncomfortable for their societal enforcement, but Esper's commodity-based world was uncomfortable in a different, desperate way. Man. This is cool.
Plus, putting the surveil on a separate paragraph? You gotta love it. I know it's a small detail, and it's just a design necessity, but it's the attention to that detail that I love about this card. I can imagine it as part of a cycle of alternate spells, like with a red creature that forces discard on ETB if black was spent to cast it, or a blue return spell that exiles something instead if white was spent to cast it, etc. We got possible multicolor but good draws otherwise, we have the cost of metal-scrapping, and... I mean, what else is there to say? This card's chops speak for themselves.
When I talk in my contests about elegant common design, this is exactly what I'm looking for. As a player, big splashy complex cards will slot in my decks. As a designer and storyteller, tightness is key.
@spooky-bard — Sigiled Construction
See what I mean? I'm only mildly irked that this doesn't have a quote from, like, a Vedalken designer who's learning how to venerate the designs of the angels, or a Bant paladin who for the first time is accepting the use of etherium as a means of fabricated glory. I can imagine both of those scenarios, but argh! At least this card's a pain in the ass. ... Hold on, I'm sounding more negative than I intend. What I mean is that someone's going to get three of these in their sealed pool, play UWX, slam a Thopter, and every turn thereafter is going to have a massive exalted attacker clock. Is it too powerful? Depends on the environment. Is it really cool from a lot of perspectives? Yes, absolutely, and I wanna talk about it.
In short, this card is one of THOSE commons—you know, first-pickable-over-rares sometimes kind of commons—and the chances of it doing nothing if something bigger comes along is also totally there. And that's okay! It's not oppressive, it's not unbalanced, it's not literally better than the mythics that would be appearing in this set. Just a plain old good card. And I do like the implication of how these shards would be coming together. I like how all three winning cards this week highlighted different possible aspects of Alaran unification. The first was a knight finding their way through a harrowing world, the second an emphasis on the underlying Alaran conflict, and this one is the coming-together of two strengths in a positive light. Whatever's happening here, I can still feel the wonder even while I'm whining for flavor text. Dangit, I can only whine so far... Heh. I'd love to play and see this card played.

ok here are more pregnant cas thoughts. alternate s12. established destiel. mary is back but it's my own kinder and weirder representation of her. they're working a witchy case where cas's vessel is made unusable for a while. he gets a new vessel (ruby 2.0 style - ethically sourced). destiel pregnancy scare: cas wakes up one morning and can tell he's pregnant bc angel knowledge idfk. he starts running around the bunker looking for the abortifacient herbs bitches used in ancient times bc that's what he knows. everyone's like "hey um. what are you doing r u ok??" he's like "NOOOOO DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW POWERFUL A NEPHIL WOULD BE WE ALREADY HAVE TOO MUCH TO WORRY ABOUT!!" he has a big freak out too abt missing his old vessel and other complicated gender angel feelings. mary is bewildered but comforting. #womensupportingwomen. sam is SO out of his depth. dean is helpful but equally freaked out for normal pregnancy scare reasons. the herbs don't work bc he's a big strong angel. dean and cas journey to the nearest planned parenthood. unsure of whether or not it will work bc he's a big strong angel. they're in the waiting room talking abt what will happen if it doesn't work and it's majorly scary but they're also both kind of like...😍😍🤰👼👪. they finally get in and the medical assistant is having the routine convo with them abt the abortion and how emotional it can be and if they really want to do it. near the end of the convo the med ass. is like ok so what are you thinking do you want to get this show on the road and cas is like. actually. i. i think. i think i want this. dean is like. 😐😑😏🙂😀 really? and they're like whoa dude we're having a baby. that's crazy.
fast forward to the birth. they know some psychic witchy midwives (old friends of bobby's 🤷♀️😎) so they have a kind of normal birth plan!! classic media childbirth representation in that it is CRAZY and happens at the WORST POSSIBLE TIME and they have a horrible time getting to the birth center etc etc. but then they're there and it's fine and they made it and it's cool yay!!! but wait!! castiel is a big strong angel! with contractions and such cas experiences incredible pain like every other birthing individual and so he like. starts a hurricane and blows out the southwest power pool. but then boom. baby. baby baby baby!!!! it's a girl bc i want there to be more women in spn lmao.

🖊 - so funny story, but the man that hinata and oda were sent to zero on behalf of her great grandpops s*aburo..... was actually the man who ordained their wedding sansknksd. SO he was a priest right and one popular with the corpos that were employed by 'saka in NC. well, he started speaking ill of the company and selling company intel to their rivals when the employees would go to confession. so like..... he had to go u know? blah blah talk ill of the corp u get zeroed etc etc. they devised a genius plan to have him marry them, when she says "you may kiss the bride" they do of course buuuuut they also zero him in the process while he's distracted.. and they did just that! and it worked! hinata and oda yank out their mantis blades and the deed was done <3. every great wedding ends in someone getting flatlined right?
🖊 - so this second one will sort of be what i think in theory how she’ll be in phantom liberty? so if this is a post game thingy hideo (her charge and her and odas adopted son bc SOMEONE has to and it sure ain’t his brother yori sjzjhzhx) will be ceo as his brother is to step down and is put on house arrest in a time out bc of the coup ksjzjxhxh. if vika ends up having to take on ‘saka again it may mean that the besties turn into adversaries which would BREAK my heart but also be absolutely EHEM *nova* if the white widow and worlds coolest cyberninja faced off u know? ORR if it’s like during the main story i mean the besties in a spy thriller would so be siiiick u know? oda supporting the wife from the tower in the plaza like “thats my wife” ❣️😌 etc etc!
🖊 - YAY MARI U SAINT U I ADORE U SM I’ve been wanting to scream about her for literal years slzkxjxj she’s been around for a WHILE living in the head along with vika rent free with luxury room service <3 she was like a blob of like ✨vibes✨ like with the red aesthetic and the red hair for YEARS until i found the perfect fc and name? a little lore into her design color and symbolism is a HUUGE part of her character development and design? the way as growing up she wore a lot of neutrals and it was deliberate as she wished to be as out of sight as possible? then it was as if a switch flipped following a near depth experience in a deep dive into what was the pre data crash net. red is passionate it’s power it’s so much more and all what she wished to be. she became the red queen and faked her charismatic nature until she forgot where the old nadya ended and the red queen began. for the version of her she conveyed to the world and her true nature became one and the same. <3 lilith killed eve the day she became the red queen.
🖊 - OO okay this’ll be the fun one.. for this one we will be discussing! nadyas………. “lovers.” shes got three in her character arc that hold the most meaning to her both good and bad. those would be: y*orinobu (HUUGE) johnny (VERY) and r*ache (VERY and also painful!). if i for sure need to do a deep lore dive essay into the meaning of people in her life especially these three. but in essential the tropes to best depict them are for sure “mutual obsession inevitable downfall” for yori and nadya. “right person wrong time and rivals to lovers” for her and johnny. and! pain pain and suffering “tragic doomed lovers” for nadya and rachie <3
