First up, a quick apology for the prompts coming so late! Life had me in a chokehold, but now things can finally get started! As an accomodation for the late updates, the event itself will of course be moved back as well for this year. Mushishiweek 2023 will take place from the 31st of July - 6th of August!

I love this story for so many reasons, but one of them is just… the complexity of the characters. Like Milo, you read his brief description, see a picture, look at the first interactions with him and you think you know who he is. He’s that typical flirty thief. But as the story progresses we get to see so many layers to him. And that is one of the reasons I absolutely LOVE and am so happy I decided on it, the Baron tier shorts on Patreon because like… while I know those MC shorts aren’t like… canon for everyone, I still take what’s in those and read every chapter update with those things in mind. For example, August and September’s shorts for Rowan play so well into what we’re seeing of Milo in the stories and that guilt that he’s dealing with because of Malcolm and I absolutely love these characters. So much.
Also, only slightly related…. It breaks my heart when Milo and Hazel fight. There is so much bubbling up to the surface now and I am so excited to see where it goes.
It is always such a surreal thing to hear that people love this game like they do. It feels like we are all collectively talking about something else. I never in these moments feel like the author. I just get excited along with everyone that they love the characters like I do. LOL!
And yes, the Baron tier on Patreon is kind of designed to go along with the story. It is not official cannon, but it is your personal cannon. I like being able to help add to everyone's personal headcannons and let's face it. The game has a big plot. Sometimes the softer and sweeter moments, or even the angsty ones, don't get time to be explored. It's kind of why I wanted to offer the Baron tier for people. Especially if they have an idea they really want to see played out in the game.
And it should break all our hearts when Milo and Hazel fight. I hate doing that to them because I know where they are both coming from and I think they are both just scared and confused and had a lot of trauma ten years ago that is popping back up when they least expected it.

the book is even getting good reviews, too! it’s exciting!

I’m finally out of the “I will never fix this draft” zone, and into the “hey this could be pretty good” zone! phew. thank goodness.

however, once I know the story is working, editing will be pretty straight-forward.
