Insight
A/N: Part 4 of the baby daddy chronicles. An insight into Attuma and Okoye's toxic ass relationship.
Other Baby Daddy Chronicles
Couple's therapy. Okoye's mother had suggested it first after walking in on one of their explosive arguments one day.
"If you're keeping that man around, you gotta learn how to stop being so petty with him." She had said, pinching her child's arm with a scowl. "I will take the children, and you two will go like adults and air your grievances."
That's how they ended up there. Okoye slouching into the couch deep on one end while Attuma got quite comfortable on the other end, every pillow possible wedged between them.
"So, What is the goal here?" The therapist, Namor, watched the couple take turns rolling their eyes and scoffing before Attuma took liberty to answer.
"I'm doing this for my kids." He sat up a little straighter at the thought of his girls while Okoye scoffed at his bullshit.
"We're doing this cause we're toxic."
Namor, pleasantly surprised by the maturity, smiled just a bit before jotting down some notes.
"Alright. Tell me how you met. Okoye?"
She could remember it like it happened just yesterday. There was a trail she used to walk almost everyday after work. She'd take 30 minutes to decompress before she went home with all the pent up tension.
Attuma had taken to the same routine and had gotten sick of not knowing a thing about the beautiful stranger that walked the trail. One day, they just ended up talking and walking together, staying at the park for almost an hour more than they intended.
Okoye caught her smile before it got too wide as she told the wholesome story. She spared quick glances at Attuma fidgeting with his fingers as he remembered the first thing she did when he approached was punch him in mouth before exclaiming her apologies.
"When we first started it was just sex. Once I got pregnant, then he decided he wanted to date me." Okoye held a certain scorn in her voice as she remembered the tears that burnt her eyes when she realized that she was carrying his children.
"That's not true. I always wanted to be with you. You just wouldn't stop running."
"I don't run, Attuma. That shit was all you!" Subconsciously, her voice began to raise as they continued to contradict eachother.
"I asked you out plenty! You were just too scared to say yes for once!"
"Please! I was just a body to you!" Okoye sucked her teeth, waving his claims off.
"What the hell are you talking about?!" Attuma, now turned towards her began to yell to the point that Namor was afraid he might get a noise complaint about the two.
Okoye of course wouldn't let him slide. "Who the fuck are you yelling at?!"
"You! Cause you don't fucking listen!" He turned to Namor who had turned to jotting down various notes as he listened to the petty spout. "Do you see what I deal with?"
"Uh uh don't go to him for help now!" A pillow got tossed away as Okoye sprung from her seat to across over to Attuma's side of the couch. "So you got feelings for those other bitches you fucking all the time too?!"
"Here we go."
"Nah since you had feelings for me right? You fall in love with every hoe you stick your dick in?!" She continued to invade his space, kicking at his leg lightly until she got a reaction out of him.
Attuma rolled his eyes as he leaned forward to shout in her face.
"How many times I gotta tell you?! Huh? I ain't fucking nobody else!"
"Liar!" Another pillow thrown towards him now. "Fuck you!" Okoye pushed at his shoulder until he rose from his seat and caught her wrists.
"Like you so innocent..Who was that I caught all laid up on you when I went to pick the kids up last week huh?! I'll fuck up whoever you got around my kids! I don't give a shit!"
"That shit is childish! You're childish Attuma!" Okoye tried failed to break from his grip as she continued to yell profanities into his face. "Get the fuck off of me! Grimy ass hands prolly touched every bitch in town!"
She twisted and turned until she got a hand free, only to reel it back and send him a searing slap to his cheek in her rage.
The room enveloped in silence as Namor sat, too used to situations like this to really react. Okoye, feeling a ping of guilt as Attuma's cheek turned a dark shade of red due to the impact but also much to prideful and stubborn to apologize.
Attuma, face burning from the slap, only shook his head as he watched the pity tears fall from her eyes.
"Tell the girls I'll be around to get them on Saturday." He muttered, grabbing his jacket and leaving the room, making sure to slam the door on his way out.
It only took a beat of silence before Okoye slunk back down on the couch, her tears running down her face as she realized what she had done.
"I didn't mean to hit him!" She cried. "I-I just got so pissed! I couldn't think!"
Namor supplied her a box of tissues. "Well...at least now I have some idea of what I'm working with."

Drawn to you fic part 2
Tumblr media
On a03 I will be filling in the gaps and everything but I did want to write this part out and Attuma's behavior right after he escalates with W'Kabi. Drawn to you Fic that this will be tied to in the next chapter. https://archiveofourown.org/works/45881512
"You killed him." Okoye whispered.
"He fell over." Attuma's hoarse voice echoed around them near the staircase.
"Attuma-"
"No, you saw it. He fell over and lost his grip on the railing and I couldn't save him."
Okoye went quiet, her gaze glued to the spot where W'Kabi once stood. That sickening thud will forever be seared into her mind. She didn't notice that Attuma was still talking to her until she felt a hand touch her cheek and then her chin. The faint scent of blood on Attuma's hands mixed in with Attuma's cologne. His hands were bruised and bloodied. With a gentle touch, he directed her face to look at him," Okoye? In yakunaj, hey. Look at me."
This time she did look at him, with a pitiful look even as tears began to form in her eyes. Regret only formed in Attuma's heart due to seeing Okoye like this, he would rather for this to happen if she wasn't here. But he would spend his time making sure she was well afterward.
"Go and get your things, pack all that you would like to take with you," Attuma said so quietly, pulling her up to her feet. Attuma watched her take slow steps, disappearing down the corridor to the bedroom she once shared with her former spouse. W'Kabi noticed Attuma looking at Okoye too long earlier today, so he immediately asked what he was staring at. Attuma bluntly admitted it was Okoye who looked beautiful in her red dress. It took everything in Attuma to not admit, he was visualizing taking that dress off her. And how he knew that she did not have panties on at this moment just for him.
Okoye wanted to intervene in the conversation, insisting that Attuma meant nothing about it. But Attuma chuckled when W'Kabi began to slowly close the distance between them.  His temper didn't flare until W'Kabi told him, Okoye would never be interested in someone like him. Emphasizing that she was HIS wife, though he knew she had to be seeing someone else."I wouldn't blame your wife if she was fucking another. She could walk right in front of you with her ass out and you wouldn't even notice. Do not act surprised that she has to get that attention elsewhere. " The moment those words left Attuma W'Kabi struck Attuma in his jaw hard. A brawl broke out right in front of Okoye, which trailed from the office out into the corridor near the stairs. Each time Okoye tried breaking them up by getting their attention or trying to pull Attuma off W'Kabi, she was knocked back in response. Both men traded vicious blows, that feral grin forming on his lips all the more W'Kabi hit him back.
"I should have never let you in my home!" W'Kabi yelled at Attuma, trying to knock him off his feet. But Attuma was bigger than W'Kabi and stronger, Attuma kept pushing him closer to the railing.
Attuma rammed W'Kabi's back into the wood railing, it groaned against the sudden weight of the two. W'Kabi toppled over with one more shove, though tried desperately to either grab onto Attuma or the railing. That grin was the last thing W'Kabi saw. Not his wife's face but Attuma's.Attuma glanced at his hands and made his way downstairs, reaching into his coat pocket while double-locking the door. He wiped his hands, in an attempt to get some of the blood off. He tilted his head at W'Kabi's lifeless body, the pained shocked expression seemed to be the final look on his face.
He kneeled carefully by him, eyeing the pool of blood around his head before settling on his face. Sighing some reaching to shut W'Kabi's bloodshot eyes closed, "Even now you continue to be an inconvenience."
His months of visiting the couple, well mostly Okoye, had allowed him to come familiar with the luxurious home. Grabbing bundles of blankets from a spare room on the first floor, Attuma spread the few blankets fully over the body only to cover him. There were options here, he could bury W'Kabi or he would drop him in the sea as well. Perhaps with weights, or by just chumming up the water and giving a gift to the animals he adored the most. Sharks. A boat was going to be needed, and the process of doing this when not in the presence of Okoye.
Attuma got to his feet going back up the stairs to look for Okoye, passing the empty dark rooms until finally, he came close to the grand bedroom. A suitcase lay open on the bed, partially filled with clothes and shoes. The sound of water running could be heard from the bathroom, Attuma stepped into the bedroom. Short silk lingerie dresses of various colors were scattered on the bed, Attuma eyed them all but brushed his dried blood fingers on the dark blue one. Everything came out a cost except this was a cost that Attuma believed he could easily pay. Okoye was worth it something W'Kabi took for granted. Attuma turned on his heel to go to the washroom, nudging the door open. Okoye's heels and black dress were in a pile, while she was in the shower. The bathroom was spacious, built with a spa-like bathtub built for two, and a glass walk-in shower that was with shower. Attuma still saw her, her silhouette even among the fogged-up glass. Disrobing himself, Attuma placed his own clothing into a pile and opened the glass door to join her.
The sudden gush of cold air made her gasp and move away from the door, Okoye's eyes were red from crying. Closing the door behind him when he stepped in, Attuma ran his hand underneath the hot streaming showerhead while freely eyeing Okoye. He didn't understand it fully, she mourning someone she despised openly with him. Perhaps it was the familiarity, that will be forever lost with her dead husband. "You will not waste any more tears on him, I will not let you." he whispered
Attuma moved to her, pulling her wet frame close to him. Kissing her brow, smoothing out the worry lines that dared to show. Trailing kisses all over her face and neck, his bruised hands running down her frame and grabbing her buttocks lightly. Holding on to her lightly, he eased her back until she was pressed against the marble shower walls.
"No more will be the days, you will go to bed unloved and longing for someone to look at you will such desire," Attuma whispered to her, pressing his temple to hers only to capture her lips afterward.
The groan that came from her merely encouraged him. Lifting her up, Okoye wrapped her legs around him to hold on. Attuma shielding her from the spray of the water, she buried her face into his shoulder when she felt his tip rub against her entrance. That unforgiving sting of being stretched out when his length began to enter, her legs squeezed him lightly in response.  Attuma set that unforgiving pace, wanting to feel Okoye cling to him with that familiar burning on his back from her scratches. He will rid Okoye of that mournful look, memories of W'Kabi's body with each touch, and declaration of love for her.
"You take me so well, In yakunaj. You were made for me as I was made for you" Attuma groaned. Okoye held onto him tightly, begging him not to stop. Even as her legs began to shake from the overwhelming pleasure, Attuma kept his rough pace abusing that pleasured spot within her over and over.
"Come for me, my sweet. No more, do you have to keep your voice down with me."
The wet kisses that Attuma placed on Okoye's neck, to be denied so long to not be able to mark her as his. He couldn't help himself when he bit her in the heat of the moment. Okoye cried out climaxing hard against him."Fuck, Okoye," he muttered his thrusts only slowing just a moment. Her warm walls practically tried to milk him in the process, but still, he rolled his hips once more into her signaling to her he wasn't done just yet.
"Attuma, I can't," she whined softly. Attuma brushed his lips over the fresh bitemark, on which Okoye shivered.
"Yes, you can. I know you can," he whispered back starting up a slow pace.
Okoye's cries echoed in the bathroom and the bedroom. W'Kabi's lifeless body still remained on the ground floor, covered by the blankets that Attuma threw on him as if he was nothing.

My brain is running with Kermit flail in 17 different directions and so list
FIC: finished
Kay Nicté: Nashuri AU, no powers, porn with plot & feels & family dynamics; Shuri doesn't want to go to a resort on spring break; she has way too much critical, life-or-death work to do in the lab. Ch'ah Toh doesn't want to go back home to his cousin's resort on spring break; he has way too much respect for his culture to sell it out to tourists. One mezcal tasting flight later, they can't seem to keep their hands off each other. Or any of their other body parts either.
<5000 words
The Pearl That I Carry in My Heart: Nashuri, Attoye, big damn post-canon fic, world building. The Elder's brows furrowed. "Am I understanding you correctly, Princess? That your suggestion for strengthening our alliance is arranged marriages between our available tribal leaders and theirs?"
Shuri smiled, a forced twisted thing. "Not quite, Elder. My suggestion for strengthening this alliance is an arranged marriage between K’uk’ulkan and me."
>100,000 words
FIC: in progress
Beautifully Created: Attoye, canon divergence AU, kidfic, world building, what do you call it when you start with smut and end with smut but the whole wide middle is angst and politics? Wakanda already knew about Talokan when Namor made his ultimatum thanks to information from Okoye. Attuma would like to know how she got that information and why the queen & princess seem to hate his guts when he's never met them before. 50% finished --read on ao3--
Kiss Me by the Fence Rails: Nashuri, AU modern day. Shuri is a brilliant engineer who just Does Not Get dating. She wants to get better at it and at sex in order to finally shoot her shot with her high school crush. She asks Namor, an equally brilliant architect, to help her out with all of that. He's her brother's business partner so he won't try anything shady, he's dated lots, and deep inside under that cranky exterior he's a good guy. Simple and easy, right? <5% finished --read on ao3--
FIC: planned (in no particular order)
When It Rains, Leave Me Alone: Attoye, companion piece to The Pearl, angst with eventual HEA but first make them hurt: Okoye, daughter of the Border, former general of the Dora Milaje, Midnight Angel, Head of Security of the Kingdom of Wakanda. She has reached the highest heights as well as the lowest lows possible in her career. W'Kabi, who she had once thought of as the other half of her heart, has chosen exile over their marriage and admission of treason. Her undeniable attraction to General Attuma could add further fractures in the already tenuous Talokan-Wakanda summit. All the while, she also needs to protect Wakanda's people, especially Princess Shuri, who seems to be determined to break her own heart.
Transcendence to Endure: Nashuri, prequel within a sequel to The Pearl, mildly angsty babyfic for all, history of Talokan world building, TW: pregnancy/delivery trauma. Péepen Xail Almehen of Xel-há and Yzniquanto of the Iréchikwa Tzintzuntzani navigate a world slowly burning from the invasion of the Conquistadores. Shuri kaRamonda, Black Panther of Wakanda, and Ch'ah Toh Almehen, K'uk'ulkan of Talokan, navigate eleven years of marriage.
Wholly, Thoroughly, Completely, Drowning: Nashuri, Attoye, AU Canon divergence. Talokan & Wakanda have always known about each other. When T'Challa got sick, Shuri asks for Namor's help. In return, he wants her to stay in Talokan for a year and help undo the damage he perceives T'Challa made when he opened up Wakanda.
Para Siempre: Attoye, AU modern day, no powers. Megapop star, Okoye, is burnt out from back to back to back touring plus a very public divorce from hip-hop star, W'Kabi. One of her longtime security personnel, Attuma, suggests decompressing at his family's little hotel-resort in the Yucatan during the off-season. Please stop, I don't have time for all this help
Untitled Bridgerton-style Black Panther AU: Attoye, Nashuri, AU no-colonisation alternate history, alternate powers. In an alternate history 1800-ish, Princess Shuri of Wakanda, of the Transafrican Alliance travels to Talokan of the League of the Mayapan in order to cement their alliance against the European powers encroaching on both their lands. For protection, she and some of her entourage disguise themselves as shipmates and servants while General Okoye and some of the kingsguards dress as tribal leaders. K'uk'ulkan, halach uinik of Talokan and de facto leader of the League, asks his highest ranking nobles to look for possible spouses among the visiting Wakandans to tie their kingdoms by blood as well as treaty. Lord Attuma, nacom and favoured cousin of the K'uk'ulkan, agrees to court Princess Shuri. But the woman he escorts off the pier is not the princess. And the real princess has her own agenda on this diplomatic visit that promises to wreck all the Feathered Serpent's plans.
Untitled Single Dad Namor + Dr Shuri: based on a fanart by @milkfromcats, Nashuri, AU X-Men style mutants, TW: refugee experience. Namor has lost almost everything in Mutant Purges and the trek to get safely to Wakanda. The most important thing in his life now is taking care of his sisters' children, Namora and Attuma. But he has no idea what to do with kids, nevermind traumatised orphans. Shuri is a brilliant doctor and privileged to have the funds to volunteer her time with the influx of newcomers to Wakanda. Every one of them is wonderful but she has a soft spot for Attuma and Namora, who often visit with lopsided braids and sugar-stained tops, tugging their exhausted father along. His love for them tempers the tragedy etched in his face and she can't stop wanting to ease his exhaustion.

ao3 link
summary: "loving you had been my greatest mistake, but it's a mistake i'd make a million times."
pairing: okoye x attuma
warnings: angst if you squint, not quite smut but sexual content
a/n: i remixed some of the sirens' abilities bc i don't know if what i wrote is accurate to any kind of lore, but it works for this story so hopefully it isn't too far off.
a/n 2: once again, my keep reading option does not work, so i apologize for how lengthy this post is.

Attuma woke up at an ungodly hour, head full of swirling thoughts. He couldn't grasp why everything was moving so fast, what could have driven a weak surface dweller to even think of going against the alliance. He was no fan of the surface world, but he knew that the Wakandans were smart enough to not attack them. Both sides knew it was not a war that Wakanda could win.
He stood and began pacing, attempting to put pieces of a jumbled puzzle together. The pieces, however, weren't clicking. No matter how many times he played it over in his mind, the why did not make sense. He was even having trouble with the how. Talokan was packed full of trained fighters, it was practically a requirement. From the time they could walk, they were learning to defend themselves and their nation. He could think back to his days as a young trainee, just a child being taught to throw his first punch. He and Namora had spent most of their childhood sparring with each other and trying to prove who would dominate the next generation of Talokanil warriors. He remembered the two of them always throwing fits if they lost to the other, claiming that they'd been cheated of a win. Young Namora claiming that Attuma's siren song was unnaturally powerful and Young Attuma that Namora kept giving him visions that distracted him.
And just like that, the pieces connected. It made sense, how a Talokanil could fall so easily. Namora's involvement was the only way that it would make sense. He wasted no time finding her, blood boiling as he made his way to Namora's quarters. He'd shocked her by throwing the door open as he entered, making her whip around and throw a spear in his direction at the possibility of an attacker in her home. He caught it quickly before throwing it down, the tip jamming into the ground.
"Who did you give the vision to?" he questioned accusingly, voice raised to a level that was rare for his relatively calm demeanor. "You made the Wakandan kill him!"
Namora's brow raised and she cocked her head to the side, looking at him without portraying any notion that she knew what he was talking about.
"What do you speak of, Attuma?" she sighed, turning back to her mirror to finish the braid she'd been working on before he'd stormed into her home.
"Do not insult my intelligence, Namora! Which Wakandan was it?"
She shook her head, finishing the braid's end and turning back to him when she was satisfied with how it looked.
"I would never dare to do such a thing," she played, eyes rolling at his confidence.
"Do you not understand the graveness of the situation you have created?" he questioned, only praying that he can get through to her and save both nations the unavoidable casualties that will come with another war. "You must fix this or the alliance will fail. People will die, our people!"
Namora shook her head, inhaling deeply. She figured there was no longer a point in trying to hide her doings from Attuma. He knew her too well for that. Maybe she'd even be able to convince him that she'd done the right thing, that K'uk'ulkan and the alliance were going to drive Talokan into the ground.
"This alliance was a mistake from the very beginning," she began. "It was bound to fall apart, and all I have done is give Talokan the opportunity to come out on top."
She turned back to him and turned her head to the side, eyeing him intensely. Namora was smart enough to know what is curiosity was about. Not too long ago, Attuma would not have hesitated to follow her lead had she done something like this. Hell, he would probably be the one leading. This change of heart obviously came from his allowing Okoye to get inside of his head, to change his priorities.
"You need to get your head on straight, Attuma," Namora told him. "She is not as devoted to you as you are to her. She will kill you if she must. Will you be able to kill your precious warrior when the time comes?"
She was well aware that Attuma loved hard and that if he was as in deep with Okoye as Namora figured he was, there was no way that he would be the one to drive a blade into her back if the opportunity arose. His silence spoke for him and he stood defensively in front of her before taking a few steps toward her. Before he could threaten her, she was shaking her head at him.
"She has made you weak, Attuma, but it is an easy fix."
"Namora, if you so much as-"
She laughed at him before sighing, bringing a hand up to condescendingly pat his shoulder.
"Your warrior will be safe. For now," she told him. "When she is to die, it will be honorably. She has earned a warrior's death, and I will happily to provide it to her. It will be nothing personal. It will be for the good of Talokan."
For a moment, he contemplated explaining it all to K'uk'ulkan, wondered if he would be able to convince him now that his heart had already been turned in the direction of war. He inhaled, knowing that the chances were slim with Namora already in K'uk'ulkan's ear. He knew the only way to bring an end to the madness, but that way was currently giving him the silent treatment. He was determined to fix it, though. Attuma decided that he would have to make his way to Wakanda, deal with the stares he'd get from her Border Tribe as he made his way to her home.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Okoye had woken up earlier normal and could hardly think straight from sleep deprivation. The entirety of her night had either been spent missing Attuma or fearing her future in Wakanda if she sided with Shuri. The journaling was of no use because whenever she tried to open up the vault of her worries, she couldn't stop thinking about if she was any better than W'Kabi if she decided to follow through with Shuri's plan. He'd betrayed the throne and she was very close to doing the same, so what was separating them? The good of Wakanda? That was W'Kabi's same argument. Okoye was so used to knowing what to do, strategizing and finding a way around potential problems, but this felt impossible.
Okoye let the water fall over her body, head submerged completely as the water streamed from the shower. Her mind never gave her a break from memories of her failings constantly flashing through her head.
"Isidenge," she muttered. Idiot.
She ran her hands over her face, wiping away the water as she mentally berated her past self as she replayed asking Queen Mother to let Shuri tag along. She should have known Shuri wasn't ready, should've anticipated that Talokan was as strong as Namor had threatened in the beginning. She should've done a lot of things different.
A tear ran down Okoye's cheek and she wiped it immediately before turning the shower off, beginning to feel lightheaded from the steam. She stepped out of the shower carefully, wrapping herself in her towel and cracking the bathroom door open to let out some of the steam in the room. She turned the cold water on and began splashing it in in her face to try and cool down momentarily.
As she reached for a paper towel to dry her soaked face, she heard a familiar rapping coming from her back door. She was alert immediately. There was a part inside of her that knew very well that he would never bring her any more harm than he'd done before their involvement with each other began, but she couldn't help the small twinge of doubt that struck her whenever she thought of trusting him now.
Okoye inhaled deeply, making her way to the door and looking out to be greeted by him holding up the same goat that had been stalking him only days before. Her brows furrowed as she realized she was unable to see M20 anywhere in sight. He'd been stationed right outside of her home and now he'd suddenly disappeared. As if on queue, she heard the great beast growl for Attuma's attention before coming into view in the small viewing hole.
"You get no more fruit! You have eaten all that I had for you!" Attuma voiced, turning to the animal, not letting his guard down after denying such a dangerous thing food.
M20 growled again, and although Okoye knew that he wouldn't attack Attuma because of his familiarity with the man, she opened the door to save Attuma the fear. His head snapped when he heard the door creak. She pulled her towel tighter around her under his gaze.
"Release my goat," she commanded, ignoring the way his eyes were dragging down her barely covered body. Attuma obliged by gently placing it on the ground behind him and watching as it ran free. "Why are you here, and what have you done to take down M20's guard?"
"We need to speak and I did a small amount of research. The beast does not eat meat," he answered confidently, proud to show off his newfound knowledge to Okoye. "May I come in?"
She shook her head in disbelief at him and began to close the door in his face, which was Attuma's final straw. He didn't have it in him anymore to go another moment with her holding any kind of disdain for him. The larger man blocked the door with his hand and kept it open, keeping his face within view in the crack of the door.
"Attuma-"
"Let me speak. Please."
Okoye took in his pleading eyes. She could tell that he was trying. That explaining would mean a lot to him. The woman inhaled deeply in preparation for whatever it was he had to say to her.
"Well go on," she instructed impatiently, trying to avoid his gaze as he stared at her with those dark eyes that had a tendency to make her heart melt.
"Namora has...a gift. She has been using it to her advantage since we were small. This mess, it was of her doing. She caused the murder."
Okoye's eyes narrowed at him, but she released the door and stepped aside to allow him in and give him the opportunity to speak. He'd intrigued her now.
"It was not a murder," she corrected, backing further away from the door as he entered her home.
"I was unaware that it had happened. I never misled you," he told her, his eyes letting her see his sincerity. They always held the truth. "It was not until I came to K'uk'ulkan that I knew of any tensions. I have recently confronted Namora, and I am sure that she is behind it."
She could believe it. Although, her belief would be solely based off of what Attuma had told her of Namora, how she never wished for the alliance, how she'd do anything to keep Talokan safe. Okoye respected that, respected her dedication to her country, but she was sure she didn't have it in her to spark an entire war for Wakanda. It was extreme, but it wasn't hard to believe that Namora could go to that extreme and even exceed it.
"You went along with Namor's plan to kill our brother after you knew. You helped spill Wakandan blood, my blood without any explanation," she pointed out, trying to find more reasons to keep him at a distance.
"He is my king. I must obey the throne the same as you," he responded, taking a step closer to her and refusing to let her distance him any more than she already had.
She wanted to leave, wanted to escape, but that wasn't an option for her. How could she when Shuri was about to make a decision that could truly mean the end of Wakanda? This, she decided, would be her chance to redeem herself. To who, she wasn't sure, but she needed to figure out another plan. A plan that wouldn't provoke Namor any further and push their nations past the breaking point.
She wondered if Attuma ever thought about straying away, how much sacrifice would be too much for him? What would be the straw to break the great Attuma's back?
Okoye turned from him and walked into her living room, hearing his heavy footsteps ringing behind her.
"It never ends does it? There is always something to deal with," she sighed, taking a seat on her couch.
Attuma sat beside her quietly. She was right. The life they'd chosen didn't provide breaks. Something was always happening even if they weren't major somethings. But in that moment, he knew that if anyone deserved even a second of peace, it was her. He wasn't sure she'd had a break in her entire career with the way that she pushed herself in every aspect of life.
"What if we simply forget for a moment?" he questioned, hands coming to her shoulders.
Okoye sighed at his touch, not realizing just how much she'd missed it until it was there again.
"We do not get to forget. All we get to do is handle things," she responded.
"Then we will handle it together," he suggested softly. "By each other's side. We will handle it."
She turned to look at him with a raised brow, finding it difficult to believe that he could ever step outside of his duty just to try and figure out the mess that their countries had found themselves in.
"Oh, will we?" she questioned, earning a nod in response, his gentle touch making its way from her shoulders down to her arms.
"We will. We will handle it and the rest of the world together."
She looked in his eyes once more and found nothing but his honesty, and Bast, she hated him for it. She hated him for being so honest and for caring so much and for making everything okay even though it was as far from okay as possible. She turned away from his gaze, closing her eyes and laughed lightly in disbelief. For all of that "hatred", it paled in comparison to the way she "hated" him for being her weakness.
"Exactly how will we do that?" she asked him softly. "How will we handle this situation between our nations? More people are going to die."
"We can figure that part out later," he told her. "For now, we take a moment to forget."
Okoye heard the click of his mask and saw his large hand resting it on her coffee table out of the corner of her eye before he craned his head down to press a feathery kiss to her shoulder, causing her to huff in amusement.
"Attuma, we have been through this before. I will not break, you do not have to handle me as if I am made of glass," she insisted, a small smile forming.
"You can be delicate, Okoye. Your guard does not have to be up all of the time," he told her, voice lowering as he spoke to her. "You are allowed softness."
"Softness is a luxury that I cannot afford," she told him, earning a disapproving grunt.
"You can afford it. You just refuse to invest in it."
Her eyes rolled. He had so much wisdom about him and she could hardly stand it. Another thing she "hated" him for. The two of them let silence fall over them for a few moments before he spoke again.
"I could not spend another moment with you unable to look at me, Okoye," he told her solemnly. "I need you to understand that I..."
He trailed off, but Okoye nodded. She didn't need him to finish to know what he was going to say. They'd spoken it a thousand times without having to say anything at all. Okoye nodded at his silent declaration and allowed herself to sink into his touch, letting the silence wash over them once more as he peppered kisses along her shoulder blade.
"I am sorry about Aneka. She is very protective of those she is close to," Okoye finally spoke, getting a short laugh out of him.
Attuma pulled her closer to him, chin resting on her shoulder as he recalled Aneka's earlier threat. He figured he'd forgive her given that she didn't know the entirety of the situation, didn't know that he was willing to put his life on the line for her friend.
"I understand," he told her. "You are worth protecting."
Okoye's heart fluttered at that and she slowly turned her face to his, pressing her forehead to his.
"As are you," she replied quietly, lips ghosting over his before he finally connected them, taking her in like it had been years since their last encounter with each other.
Okoye decided to take the moment to forget, to have a break. She would figure it all out in the morning. How she could keep Shuri from making the most detrimental mistake of her life and how to keep Thandiwe alive would be business for later. For now, she decided it was okay that he drew a laugh from her when he picked her up, knowing she liked to walk on her own. The sound of it rang like music as he pressed kisses to her neck and made way to her bedroom. It almost felt unnatural to rip herself from her duties for a small moment of joy but she allowed it, allowed him to take her mind off of everything because he was the only one that seemed to be able to pull her away from all the things she felt so permanently attached to.
The spent the rest of their evening together tangled in each other, the sound of her soft gasps and his low grunts filling the room as they indulged in their moment of forgetting the rest of the world.
When she pulled his face down to hers for a kiss, he let her take him in for a moment, not sure that anybody else in the world other than her really mattered anymore. Attuma broke the kiss, saw her eyes flutter shut as he pushed against a sensitive spot inside of her. His hand came to her cheek gently and turned her head before her leaned down to press soft kisses along the side of her face and temple. Slowly, he dragged his lips over to her ear, whispering in Mayan as his hips snapped into her.
Okoye tightened her grip on his shoulders, clinging to him for dear life as he continued to chant quietly in her ear. She was still learning, but she knew enough to piece together what he was repeating like a prayer as he buried himself inside of her.
My love. My heart. My life. My warrior.

My Attoye’s Kids Headcanons!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
💗 They have two twins (16 a boy and girl) three triplet daughters (10) and one last son (4) 🧞
• Names:
‘Rhino and the Eel’ Twins: Tadeas and Xyanza (16)
Piranha Triplets: Yolotli, Kuhle, and Nobomi (10)
Youngest son: N’kani (2)
• info:
The triplets and Xyanza can all breathe water and air. Xyanza also has siren song.
Tadeas can not. His bones are dense and his blood can withstand deep water pressures but he cannot breathe water. So when he visits Talokan he has to only wear a mask. Tadeas wants to be just like his Father and trained hard to be able to hold his breathe for a long time and swim like his sisters but he still is jealous.
His sister has always been very sweet but a great protector of her brother and often of others. She hates bullies and does not like it when people are harmed or picked on without reason. The twins used to be attached at the hip until they started training.
Tadeas showed no mercy and Xyanza was disgusted by his indifference to innocent lives. Now they fight often (verbally and physically).
Their oldest son had the same kinda relationship with rhinos as his dad does with sharks. He loved the rhinos since he was very small.
He’s very large like his father and has long dread locs and wears rhino horns and armor like his fathers, he uses an axe that’s wider and flatter than his fathers battle axe.
But when he’s really young he witnesses a bunch of poachers kill one of his favorite rhinos. He tells his dad. And Attuma absolutely slaughters them for trespassing and just bc
and since then Tadeas kinda has always had a distaste of people from colonizing countries. In his mind, they are good for nothing but stealing and murdering. He has no empathy for most colonizers or even just surface countries at all.
He has no problem killing many even if they’re innocent but his twin sister who is a training Dora/midnight angel always stops him. She’s the voice of reason.
His sister is a tall muscular but pretty lean woman who is more of stealth person rather than a mercenary like her brother. They call her the eel bc on her missions she is able to slip on and out of licked down high security easily. She doesn’t like to kill but she’s very quick and her blade is untraceable so if she must take a life, it won’t be torturous even if they’re a monster. She’s the little assassin.
Xyanza was trained to be a part of her mother’s Army, but she decided instead, she wants to be a war dog like Nakia. She hasn’t told her mother though. She’s a bit rebellious bc she doesn’t really listen, where as her twin brother absolutely worships the ground their parents walk on with some exceptions .
She and Nashuri’s daughters are a war dog team but keep it secret from their parents.
Then there are the three triplet 9 year olds, Yolotli, Kuhle, and Nobomi. the village calls them ‘the pirahnas’. they all have sharp teeth and speak very little, people don’t usually listen to them so they keep their opinions to themselves, but they be plotting
though they are sweet young girls,, they’re just… feral. They like going on hunts with their brother and they’re just ‘cute little piranhas’. If a diver looking for vibranium is seen by them, they will try their best to tear the diver apart.
The youngest son is just a baby and doesn’t have any nicknames or anything but does have the cutest little baby hands and is very chubby.
Okoye is still a war general, but strays away from the battle field these days. She could still kick ass but she chooses to step back from the physical field unless absolutely necessary.
Attuma is still a general as well but he has continued to serve under Namor and chooses not to retire. not much WAR going on lately though so he is a very present and loving father. Okoye’s more of the busy one, though she tries her very best to be active and it works for everyone.
• Scenario:
I’m imagining maybe while Xyanza and (Nashuris daughter) were trying to free some Prisoners of war from a British battle ship on the Indian Ocean, she gets found and cornered but her brother is there to not only save her, but bust her. Saying he’s going to tell their parents what she’s been doing. He’s a snitch fr but he has her back.
She tells him how they can’t just let this ship leave and he says it wasn’t for no reason - he found some vibranium that had obviously been smuggled from Wakandan borders. They had figured out the export was being sold by black market traders disguised as tourists. So Tadeas says he’ll help them take the ship down and then take all the credit when they’re back home 🙄🤣. Nashuris daughter is like fine idc
Then he is stabbed through the shoulder with a vibranium whale gun by a surviving ship captain, they’re both captured and Xyanza is knocked out.
They wake up to find themselves in a vibranium cell on another ship heading to an undisclosed location to be tested on. They’re all trapped there as their weapons have been confiscated.
Then they hear a bunch of screams, gunshots and commotion and who bursts into the door.
Shuri. The Queen of Wakanda. The Black Panther.
Her mask falls and she is relieved to see all the kids but also furious that they not only left but engaged without authority.
They can only imagine what their other parents are feeling.
So the parents are all there, Namor is getting rid of crew members who turn out to be American Marines and Other Goverment Allies. Shuri is hacking into the system and releasing the kids. Okoye is observing the ship and interrogating the captain. Attuma is in a rage he is absolutely wrecking the ship, it’s sinking.
The kids are soon faced with their parents, being scolded mainly by Okoye and Namor, Shuri is jumping in sometimes but Attuma is deathly silent.
Nashuri! Kid and Tadeas are facing most blame. They will all be punished however.
“Baba! Please I was trying to help Talokan and Wakanda. You must believe me!” Tadeas pleaded.
Attuma stepped forward and looked down at his son, who he left in charge of all of the kids.
“I have given you far too much responsibility. This has proven to me you are not ready to handle that.”
Attuma takes his sons axe, which he gave to him on his 11th birthday. And His son is devasted, shocked into silence.
All the children are ordered to return to Wakanda and told they are forbidden to leave until further notice. They’ve all been benched from their training and anything except school.
Nashuri kid is taken from public schooling and absolutely grounded.

A New Addition (ATTOYE One-Shot)
ATTOYE Week Day 5: Angst/Drama - @attoye-week
Summary: Okoye has news, and she can't decide if it's good or bad.
AO3 Link
Shit.
She couldn’t think of anything else. She was stooped over her toilet for the fifth time this week. Even when she ate nothing, her stomach clawed its way through her throat. Her core flexed in that telltale sound. The papaya she had for a “light” breakfast spilled out of her. Her eyes stinged. With tears of pain, and of regret. The fruit was perfectly ripped. It was ridiculously delicious going down, but coming back up, it burned like a motherfucker.
She had faced sprained shoulders and broken bones, but morning sickness was another beast. And Attuma could not know about any of this. Not while he was away from home. This mission was huge for the Wakanda-Talokan alliance: a unit of elite warriors from both nations goes to an undisclosed location to destroy some data on vibranium locators. That was the minimum information that her husband of two years was allowed to give her.
And usually that would be enough. She would watch him pack up. She would clean his rebreathers one more time while he dressed. She would hold him tight as she planted small pecks onto his smiling lips. She wouldn’t even tell him to be safe. She would tell him to hurry up. To hurry back to her. He was more than capable, she knew that. He was phenomenal. His fighting prowess was godly. He was a hero to his people, to her. And now, he was off, proving himself to be an ally to her country. She never worried about him.
Yet, she longed for his cool hand on her back. Comforting her with his hearty laugh and his legs encasing hers. She knew that he’d sit on the floor with her. She knew that he wouldn’t stop smiling when he looked at her. His cheeks touching his eyes as he would beam over her. His wife. Carrying their child.
Another wave of nausea crashed over her. Her husband - the father of her unborn child - was somewhere she didn’t know, somewhere she couldn’t reach, somewhere she couldn’t help. He was cocky. She knew his showboating before she even knew his name. It was one of the many things she grew to love. Like the look of confusion and admiration when she landed him flat on his ass. But this mission was high alert. This mission was different from training or game night.
This mission had her husband not coming home
