"the way they killed medusa was stupid" "using the hat to kill medusa was dumb" that's because this show isn't written for action and blood and gore its written for STORYTELLERS ofc the "fight with medusa" wasn't epic and bloody that would defeat the whole point INSTEAD it was symbolic and set up narrative arcs. it was annabeth passing on the invisibility her mother cursed her with to a woman who was cursed never to be seen. it was paralleling the original perseus myth where he uses the helm of darkness alongside his shield and shoes from athena and hermes. it was setting up the conflict between percy and annabeth about giving up the hat and making annabeth suffer an emotional loss to go on with the quest versus imposing the consequences of medusa's story and tragedy on the gods themselves.

imagine watching a scene where annabeth increasingly gets defensive and 12-year-old lashing out with "but my mother is always just" "that isn't how the story goes" and "you're a LIAR" imagine watching the air go out of the room as "i'm a survivor" "i was you" "i would have been content to worship her for a lifetime... in silence" medusa breaks her calm demeanor at having her story erased once more imagine watching annabeth appear out of nowhere and make medusa disappear with the powers that athena granted her so that a son of poseidon can murder her and your main thought being "awwwww but i wanted it to be more epicccccc i wanted blood and gore and decapitationnnnnn" imagine missing the whole point of the entire percy jackson series that bad

I LOVE the Medusa sympathy rewrite and it still making sense. Percy choosing to trust Medusa because his mom told him her story and he always trusts his mom. (Also idk about you Medusa’s monologue about Athena was very fruity to me). And all the character development was so amazing

I don’t know if I’m overthinking this but I feel like Percy has explained so much more myths than Annabeth even though she’s been at camp since she was seven and he joined last week like he should not know that much at that point in time

No he has! Apparently in the show his mom told him stories but it really takes away from Annabeth's moments. Like he is supposed to know the myths but it's Annabeth who gets into the nitty gritty details. He recognizes names and background (and that's mostly from his Latin class and Annabeth's own lessons for him).

It's really annoying for him to be teaching Annabeth when she absolutely should know the myths way better than him.

This is a continuation of the domestic husband Shang Tsung idea I sent a while back but like: Domestic timeline!Shang finding out about the horrors and behavior his Mk1 timeline version did and how he was the one that fucked uo and turned his wife into the Medusa he sees. He is rightfully pissed off because a) he left the life of an mad sourcerer behind ages ago, b) He would never do that his wife and the mother of his children no matter if she ignored his advances or not. He promises to help Liu Kang out as long as they help find his wife. When he finds Mk1Shang Tsung and Quan Chi he beats their asses again not long after his version of Medusa!Reader did.

And to add on to what your ask. Consider Domestic Timeline Medusa!Reader is gone when her hubby and Lord Lui Kang arrive in New!Era Shang Tsung’s island to find her gone. Not too long ago, she took a boat to sail off after defeating them both. Where? They have no idea, really. Already stressed out from the New!Era version of his wife trying to kill him, everyone treating him like an enemy, and wondering where in the 10 Hells his wife is, I'd say Hubby Shang Tsung is rightfully ready to throw hands with his other self.

I'd imagine their interrogation to be something like:

Domestic Timeline!Shang: Where is my wife?!

*Proceeds to punch the ever-loving daylights out of his new era self*

Later

Lui Kang: Alright, Shang Tsung, we need to calmly question your other self-

*Not hearing a word, Hubby Shang Tsung grabs his other self by the collar to punch him in between each word.*
