Yup. We're doin the ghost pirate thing.
....
Ghost pirate ship powered by alien tech.

Am I leaning too far into the self-indulgent writing? Is it wrong for something that started out as a joke in the text to come full circle only a chapter later? Is it too late for me to be asking this question?

Man one thing that strikes me about writing Ed's backstory is just how easily he falls in love. And not romantic love, not like that, but he falls in all forms of love. He falls in love with people that are kind to him, people that he admires, people that he doesn't mean to love, but does anyway. People who, loving them, will be to his detriment.
Because Ed just likes people and that's what makes him so fascinating. I am seeing this in the show too, even in s2, especially with S2 in a way because it's such a contrast. He is in the middle of a hell, his own and inflicting that hell on his crew, but he also asks if they had cake. He's both caring for them and abusing them (trying, I think, as many have said, to get them to kill him) and, ultimately, he does care for Izzy as well.
Which is not to say that Ed can't be a brutal fuck because he can be but like Pete said: He's not a bloody monster. And he has a tenderness of heart for others, especially others that he's close to.
And I think that's just kind of special.

I really love writing small scenes like this, especially between Ace and Luffy, they feel so insignificant but so satisfying

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.

The best quality a fictional man can have is being deeply, pathetically, wretchedly in love with someone, I think
