Heartsong Creations

Julia – Julia is a design practice founded in late 2008 by Valerio Di Lucente (Italy), Erwan Lhuissier (France) and Hugo Timm (Brazil). Since May 2018 the studio is run by Valerio Di Lucente and Erwan Lhuissier in between London, Paris and Rome. Bringing together graphic and spatial design, the studio collaborates with clients from the cultural and commercial sector on a broad range of projects, including typefaces, books, magazines, exhibitions, posters, websites and identities. The studio favours a close collaboration with commissioners, taking part in processes at an early stage before any design is involved.In 2016 Julia was the recipient of the British Council’s Lina Bo Bardi Fellowship, its research focusing on Bo Bardi’s editorial work and culminating in Habitats, published by Humboldt Books in 2018. Currently the studio acts as art directors of Publics, a curatorial agency in Helsinki, and has recently completed the signage for Videogames as well as the catalogue for The Future Starts Here, two exhibitions at the V&A in London. Other key projects include the art direction of the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London (2012–2017), the art direction and design of Elephant magazine (2011-2014), books for publishers such as Sternberg Press and MIT Press, typefaces for Wallpaper magazine, and exhibitions for the Cratfs Council and Somerset House.Parallel to this, the studio has taught in universities in the UK and abroad, including the Royal College of Art and IUAV in Venice. Its work has been featured in international publications and exhibitions.
