The Fauna of Strelles
Not at all an exhaustive list but I've created some creatures that are woven through the world and could use some explanations. Will update as I add creatures - half the creatures that I add to strelles are because I think they're interesting but also to boost the available herbs and treatment that creatures can use given how many things us humans eat that either have no effect on cats and dogs or are flat out poisonous. This is especially important given how many illnesses for our pets are solved with a round of antibiotics; something my creatures can't get their paws on.
---
Nadders | Small spiny backed lizards that are mildly venomous. Nadder venom - especially the marsh nadder - is a common deterrant painted onto the tools and materials that predators may raid.
Variants: Marsh, Brackenwood
Harvest: Spines, tails
Edible: Yes - when spines are removed
Blackwhip | An all black venomous snake known for hunting in densely wooded undergrowth. The largest blackwhips are known to lay their eggs around forest ThunderClan's snakerocks. The most important thing about them is that their shed skins can be used in a variety of nutrient boosters to keep sick cats in a healthy state.
Variants: N/a
Harvest: Shed Skin
Edible: Yes but blackwhips taste repulsive and the risk of being bitten is usually not worth it
Sablewing | A long-tailed glossy-black bird known for its territorial behavior and non-migrating habits. While a popular food source in the barren winters of the forest, most creatures brave the swooping and screeching seeking their beautiful feathers. This is especially true for WindClan who trade them to the Dawn Crows for various cratfs and creations.
Variants: Crested, Striped
Harvest: Feathers, Meat
Edible: Yes
