Spell Inventing

He invented a spell that makes you able to toss fireballs that will burst over the intended target like a molotov cocktail. 'Molotno Ignat' is the incantation, and you're supposed to twirl your wand until a fireball forms, before you toss it using your wand. It'll burst over the intended target.

His mother didn't have the money for him to take the classes. He prefers flying anyways, and Ethan will usually offer to side-along apparate with him.

Ivan Dreyfus

Professor Dreyfuß, who taught Ancient Runes and Alchemy in hogwarts, was the person that accompanied Sean, Liam and Odhran and their parents to diagon alley. Because of his missing father Sean latched onto Professor Dreyfuß as a father figure. They would often meet in Professor Dreyfuß' office and just talk, especially in his 6th and 7th year under the guise of Alchemy.

Minerva McGonagall

Sean had huge respect for his head of house and considers her, like his mother, as a woman more than worthy of all respect. He'll even call her Ma'am instead of Professor sometimes.

Later he even admitted that he's extremely thankfull for the fact that Professsor McGonagall didn't give up on him, as his only wish in life was to work for the IRA.

Seranius Kelman Uffer

DADA teacher in his fifth year was one that really knew what he was doing and managed to make the subject engaging and entertaining, he was strict but fair. Sean learned the most about the subject under him and Uffer overall reminded him of his local priest.

Sean would start out the lesson by putting his robe onto his history book to use as a pillow. He's interested in reading up on magical history events during his off time but he gave up in the subject.

Horace Slughorn

Sean hates Slughorn with a passion and Slughorn trying to 'get him for his collection' didn't help his case. He still likes potions and is rather good at the subject, he just can't stand Slughorns overall personality.

Thurman Starling

It’s not really personal, Sean just doesn't know why they even have to take Astronomy in the first place.

Mother: Maureen Backley (née Accling)

- Born April 11th 1934

- Maureen is a muggle who owns a convenience store in Londonderry and who worked with the IRA from the 60s to at least the mid 70s

- She met Sean's father in 1950 and they got married in 1953, merely two months before she got pregnant the first time.

- Her husbands death in 1966 hit her and the family rather hard and she relied on their local church and community quite heavily to guide her through those trying times. But it also caused her to be extremely close to her boys.

- Her youngest son Henry being killed on ‘Bloody Sunday’ 1972 marked the beginning of her turning her back on the IRA.

- 1974 Andrew walked out on his mother and brother as he refused to turn his back on the IRA.

- Born August 27th 1931

- He met Maureen in 1950 and they got married in 1953, mere weeks before Maureen got pregnant with their first child.

- He was killed in 1966 by members of the UVF, while he was out running an errand with sean.

- Andrew is three years older than Sean and shows no magical abilities, like his mother

- Born December 23rd 1954

- Comes wholely after his father

- It was his idea to go to the protest on 30th January 1972, though he fully puts the blame of Henry's death on the british soldiers

- Andrew walked out on his family in 1974 as he could feel them turning their backs on the IRA.

- He married sometime between 1974 and 1980, a woman who's family was involved with the Ulster Liberation Army.

- He asked Sean for help with an IRA attack in 1980, which caused Sean's death in march of 1981. Andrew said that Sean 'died for the cause' and his mother never spoke to him again.

Brother: Henry Backley

- Henry is five years younger than Sean and showed some magical abilities. Sean was sure Henry would get a letter to hogwarts too.

- Born August 14th 1962

- Henry was a really kind and hardworking kid. He was always excited to help his mom around the shop.

- He ideolized his brothers and always wanted to be with them, he listened to their various storys with avid interest.

- He was really excited when he was allowed to come with Maureen and Sean to Platform 9 3/4 and really wanted to go to hogwarts too.

- He was sadly killed on ‘Bloody Sunday’ 1972 at the age of ten.

Bonny Lennox (they went out a few times between 71 and 72. Sean stopped accepting her offers and didn’t show any interest, romantic or otherwise, for her after bloody sunday. Bonny didn’t stop pursuing him until 73)

Appart from Bonny he also dated a few girls in his year and beyond, but never longer than three weeks, including: Tillie Pertinger, Jenny Butler and Cary Dendron.

Aaron Molloy (A lot of kissing and groping during Sean’s gay panic 72 to 74)

Ethan Larken (They basically were always meant to be but took some time to get there. Sean knew for sure in 74 that he only wanted Ethan. They did the leg work to get together during 74 and 75, but took until almost 76 to get together. Sean never came out as gay, and they never made anything official but they were in a relationship 1975-1981, moved in together in 77.)

Best Friends: The Derry Gang, consisting of: Ethan Larken, Liam Bachram, Odhran Miller, Shain Aberdeen, Thomas Holton and Ryan Doxey.

Ethan Larken, Aaron Molloy and Edith Towel are so close to them however that they could be considered members of their gang too. Ben Redgate was also on the quidditch team and even though they were two years appart in age Sean considered him a rather close freind.

6. What’s your lucky number? Don’t have a lucky number but I like 3 (dates back to when I first read The Black Stallion when I was a kid and Alec and Black had the number 3 during their first race XD).

8. Where are you from? France, from where France fists Belgium XD (yep that’s a saying here).

10. What shoe size are you? Fucking way too small for my liking, it’s hell to find shoes my style... (37 or 6.5).

12. What was your last dream about? Something super weird (I always have super fucking weird dreams) but I don’t really remember this one. I don’t keep a log on dreams, seems too much work because it always swings between super weird and nightmares so not like it matters much...

16. Favorite movie? The Fifth Element, it’s not a great movie but it’s like a Madeleine de Proust and takes me back to simpler times. Also fucking funny, sci-fi and awesome music, what’s not to like?

28. What type of music do you like? Ooh tricky question, I have rather eclectic tastes in music. Ranges from ancient music and baroque (I love harpsichord, learned to play the piano when I was younger) to post-hardcore / “hard” music and pretty much everything in between. Discovered lately I don’t mind some bluegrass even. What I don’t like would be a way shorter list... XD I’m less a type of music kind of person and more a how that music makes me feel person, regardless of the type of music and the person/band. That said, I abhor bal musette and mostly of what we call ‘nouvelle chanson française’... In general, I like it dark and tortured.

30. How many pillows do you sleep with? 2 and a small one.

32. How big is your house? Tis an appartment and with the new job last year I was able to afford more than just a rabbit hutch! (65m2 yus!).

34. Have you ever fired a gun? Only airsoft and paintball guns, was fun.

36. Favorite clean word? Lately I’ve been saying ‘grave’ a lot, I manage to annoy even myself when I do...

38. What’s the longest you’ve ever gone without sleep? I think it was 3 days or perhaps 4 and not even due to insomnia.

As an introvert I spend much of my time on the sidelines of social interactions so I watch and analyze people a lot but I’ve been wrong a couple of times (especially if it’s a pretty girl -_-) and that fucking sucked each time...

44. Do you have a strong accent? In French? Nope, I made sure to erase it because I’m a snob like that. In English? Obviously I have a French one (been told it’s cute... -_-).

46. What is your personality type? INTJ, introvert all the way (is that what it’s referring to?) Because if not, I’ve been told by a psychologist I saw as part of something for my job who said I should get diagnosed for ADHD and autism, so...

48. Can you curl your tongue? Yep. Can make a tube with it, can also turn it over but only from one direction.

50. Left or right handed? Right but training the left to not be useless since childhood (you need to have a good feeling of both your hands if you want to be a good horseback rider).

54. Are you a clean or messy person? Both. A clean mess XD Seriously, there are still some boxes I haven’t unpacked from moving in last year... My desk at work is a fucking clutter because I manage like 15 projects at the same time and sometimes the files all end up there... But I always end up fed up of the mess and clean everything like a tornado. Especially when I decide I have enough, I can’t do anything else until I cleaned everything.

56. Most used word? Fuck or ‘putain’ and it’s variation ‘putain de merde fait chier’ in French.

58. Do you have much of an ego? I do, it’s big and sometimes misplaced. I try to not let it get in the way though.

70. Have you ever been scuba diving? I’m a scuba diver (have my first degree, can dive down to 20m). I fucking love it but life happened and I haven’t been able to keep it up :(

72. Are you scared of the dark? No, I kinda like it. Although I don’t need the room to be pitch black to sleep.

74. Are you ticklish? Yeah and since I don’t always control my strength, it can lead to some kind of injuries to the tickler...

76. Have you ever been in a position of authority? I guess? I taught at the engineering school in geology during my PhD, does that count?

78. Have you ever done drugs? Only weed a couple times. I try to stay clear from anything remotely addictive because I have an obsessive personality.

84. What color is your hair? Very light brown, bordering on blond (I’ve been told I’m blond and it gets even lighter in the sun...).

88. What do your parents do? Teachers both. My mother’s a History and Geography teacher which means a childhood spent visiting historical sites during any vacation.

90. What makes you angry? Stupidity, incompetence, injustice to name a few. Currently my neighbors letting the front door bang at any hour when there’s a note asking not to (my bedroom’s right next to that fucking front door)...

92. Have you already thought of baby names, and if so what are they? Nope nope but I thought about names for my future horse(s) XD

94. What are you strengths? Loyal to a fault, up front, smart, persevering. I’m fucking funny too.

96. How did you get your name? My father always wanted to name his daughter that way. I always thought it doesn’t suit me though.

Some thoughts on the VALKYRIE story

- Having more Mercy is always good. n.n

- Mercy in Egypt? Pharmercy is calling. Plus, I love Ancient Egypt. My head is filled now with images of Mercy in Ancient Egyptian garmment (with and without Pharah).

- On that note, its a shame Pharah never got even mentioned. I cannot imagine that in two years, the two haven’t met. And that’s a scene I really, REALLY wanted to see. Luckily, I am working on a fanfiction about just that. Now, with this story, I have more and better information to work with.

- More background info on Mercy’s past. Always awesome.

- Some very interesting information on how the Valkyrie suit actually works.

- The interaction between Ana, 76 and Mercy is somehow cute.

- Seeing Mercy in action on the battlefield, saving people, is really, really cool.

- So, Torbjörn actually took part in crafting the Valkyrie suit? Should have figured.

- I really don’t get it why she sees her Mercy persona so differently from her Angela Ziegler persona. Both do the same thing, after all. Rescue and heal people. It shouldn’t matter that as Mercy, she’s on the battlefield and as Angela Ziegler, she’s more like a regular doctor. Damn, she even calls Mahmoud out when he calls her Mercy. Bad. Very bad.

There is a major point I’d like to adress. Something I noticed already previous to this new short story. A part of Mercy’s character I don’t really like how it’s written. So, she’s against violence. Can totally agree on that. However, I don’t think getting too pacifistic is a good idea either. It’s okay to never be the agressor, but I think it’s totally legit to defend oneself and know how to do so. The Omnics attacked, the humans defended themselves.

So, the part I have such a huge problem with is how Angela seems to blame Overwatch for too many things, like the damage of all the fighting. Sure, the organisation wasn’t perfect by any means; nothing is where humans are involved. But blaming things like Egypt’s current, not so rosy situation on Overwatch is wrong, too. Unfortunately a bad move by the storywriters. I mean, why is she not convinced Overwatch should get reassembled? There’s trouble all over the world, and nobody seems to be able and/or willing to do anything about it, not even security corporations like Helix (perhaps exactly BECAUSE they’re corporations?). Sometimes, the only language an enemy understands is unfortunately violence. It’s then that heroes who can fight the just fight are needed. Violence is never the answer, but sometimes, neither is pacifism.

Frankly: Angela should be blaming those launching all the attacks for the damage caused and lives lost. Not Overwatch. At least not were it’s not due (as I said, Overwatch isn’t by any means perfect). After all, in German (I’m Swiss by the way, blonde, just like our good doctor here), there’s a saying: «Wo gehobelt wird, fallen Späne». Meaning «Where wood is chopped, splinters must fall», if that is the proper corresponding saying in English. Not everything can go smoothly, one can’t do things right for everyone at the same time. Some toes will always get trampled on. It’s sad that Jack is right when he stated that collateral damage is an unavoidable part of war. That’s especially true with the advanced technology of the Overwatch universe and organisations like Talon, with people like Reaper, Widowmaker, Doomfist, Roadhog and Junkrat running around. And she claims that Overwatch is responsible for Egypt’s problem. Well, why? Explain, Mercy! Or rather, Michael Chu. Because I highly doubt that Jack had gone and ordered his subordinates to actively cause trouble there.

And Angela should be more than willing to join the new Overwatch, because just like herself, the others, Winston, Lena, Mei, Reinhardt, Brigitte, and whoever else, are sincerely trying to protect people and make the world a better place. If such people band together under one banner, in this case Overwatch’s, then that’s absolutely great. They would have so much possibilities had they the same financial and otherwise backing of the old Overwatch. Because the old Overwatch, and Mercy seems to forget this, didn’t only fight battles. They tried to make the world a better place by other means as well. She claims that the problems and the organisation falling appart was everyone’s fault. Well, how exactly does she mean that? I cannot imagine, like, Winston doing anything that would harm Overwatch.

If the writers had given Angela her own idea of how to make the world a better place, it would be a different matter, too. Unfortunately, as she is written right now, she does have no idea of how to face the problems around the world with something else but fighting. It makes it appear as if she rather nobody do anything. And if nobody even tries, it’s then that evil wins.

In my head, she’ll never have this huge flaw, which, let’s face it, gives her an almost childish, very naive air. To me, she’s mature enough to get over this overly extreme pacifism and a little wrong view of things. And that’s how I’ll always write her in my fanfiction. Fight me.

On 11:10, around 9 hours ago, while I was over at my parents appartment, we’ve received a call from the hospital telling us that my grandfather has died. On my birthday (no shit). At the age of 76.

I am just glad that I got my chance to say goodbye. And after almost 6 weeks at the ICU in a hospital that’s 130km away from here.... well.... What can I say.... I don’t know. I think he wanted to live, but after all that time....The end might have come as a release. Idk. I just hope he found peace.

The fact that I actually got the nerve to draw shit like this is weird af. I know. And I am very sad regardless. But also relieved in some way. If you would’ve seen him when I visited him at the ICU last time, you’d understand why.

Basic floor plan for my house hotel in Fallout 76 so I can build it in Fallout 4 because I hate Fallout 76.

Like. I’m level 47. When the fuck did I get to level 47. That shouldn’t be possible. Especially because most of the things I was killing were level 3 because they couldn’t be assed to do put even make enemies scale to your level until very recently.

I should not be level 47. But I am. And that means that if I want armour for my level, I either have to kill shit, or make it. But to make level 40 armour requires ballistic fiber, which I don’t have, so I’d have to explore and kill stuff to find it.

But my knife is broken. So I fix it. But it breaks often, so I want to make extras to keep with me so that I’m not defenceless when it breaks, because I don’t use guns, and the bows in this game are absolute shit.

But to make level 40 combat knives, I need screws, which I don’t have. So I’d have to go explore and kill stuff to find some, because no one is selling them.

So I need to explore and kill stuff, without apropriately leveled armour or weapons, with no way of getting them except exploring and killing stuff.

It’s like they just don’t want people to play.

Anyways.

This house is three storeys tall, including the ground floor. The 2nd floor includes a four square balcony over what would be my Ally’s appartment IF THEY WEREN’T OBNOXIOUS AND USESLESS, with a picnic table, grill, and ice cooler.

The roof holds a fusion generator, shielded be four walls and a roof to protect from stupid fucking Scorched who like to shoot at my house.

single and double rooms are placed throughout the second and third floors for guests to stay in, and the first floor is my appartment and crafting sections. Shops are on the 2nd floor, as well as a dining area.

The whole morning the stormclouds had already lay lurking over the sky like a swarm of locusts, ready to attack at the next second.

Mar had watched the approaching storm leery during the hours she had spend taveling on the path, still, when the stormclouds were suddenly ripped appart by thunder and with that freed the way for cascades of rain, Mar was suprised. Suddenly a wall of rain crushed down over her, drenched her to the very bone.

The Halforc had seen and had faced storms before- of course she had!-, but this storm was stronger than anything that had caught her on the open path before. Just moment before Mar had seen the path before her feet clearly, now it was wrapped in the heavy layer of unlucid greyness that was the rain. If she could not feel the Drafthorse Kevin and the Burro Come-Here pulling at their reins which Mar was holding in one hand, there would have been no proof of the animals behind her for their sounds were swallowed by the howling of the storm like by an eager mouth and ther forms were wrapped behind a wet, grey veil. And it was cold. So, very, very cold. For seconds Mar still tried to move forward, despite the storm shouting around her, beside the coldness freezing her limbs numb, beside the wall of rain. But the rain hammered down at her like hundreds of icecold needles, the patter swallowed even the sound of her own breathing and the Halforc suddenly had visions of her walking down cliffs without even noticing it before she fell and her bones shattered on he ground. So the young woman did the only thing right: She turned around.

Maybe a hundred steps before she had passed a tree with a canopy of leafs like a roof, thicker and much wider than the humble treecrowns around it. A tree that had thrown a shadow like a giant on the path. The Halforc was not a fool neither was she world-weary, so when Mar turned around to return there, she counted her steps like a child playing treasure hunting.

1..2...3.. 20...21...23...24..

50...51..51...59...60.. Mar was not even able to hear the squishing sounds when her boots sank into the path that had turned into a cunning swamp in the matter of seconds. 76..78...79...80...81...82... 93...94..95..96..97...98..99...

After hundred steps Mar had lost the feeling in her limbs, the fist that held her mounts reins was just a heavy iceclot hanging from her arm. Her ears were filled with nothing but the angry howling of the storm, screaming in her ears like a banshee. And the tree was not there. She was lost, blind from the heavy curtain of rain, deaf from the wild howling of the storm, numb from the like icecold needles stitching down at her rain. She was lost.
