I keep seeing posts that remind me people primarily read fic on laptop which I find ridiculously hard to do most of the time so although this has probably been done before...
(please reblog if you feel like it, I'm curious and have a very small amount of followers 😅😅)

i do wish people would move beyond talking about the historical significance of kirk/spock and actually engage with how beautiful of a story theirs is and why those two specifically sparked a movement to see same-sex characters portrayed beyond camaraderie.

So with AO3 recommending locking your fics to help prevent scraping for AI use, I know a few people (myself included) who have locked down their fics. But it’s made me curious how many people are locking so…
Also reblog this and tell me in the tags why you do or don’t plan to lock your works.
For those of you that want to lock your works but don’t want to do each fic individually, here is a tutorial for how to lock all your fics at once.

Calling all fanfic writers cause i am very curious about what y'all do!! I normally reread my fics all the time but I know a lot of other don't so please reblog this so many other writers see this!! and it doesn't just have to be for fics if you've written something that wasn't fanfic related!!

I'm curious about something. For all you AO3 fic readers out there:
I'd also be really interested to know why you prefer it that way!! I'm a ride-or-die Entire Work reader because I like to use the scroll bar as a progress bar plus I know the entire fic is loaded from the get go. However, my impression seems to be that most people use Chapter-by-Chapter.
If you didn't know you could change it, the setting is located here:

Hey I have a real, genuine, sincere question, for real, and am not memeing!
I used to check the tags on AO3 bookmarks of my crap every so often because I assumed that, like Tumblr tags, they're left under the assumption the OP will read them & the person leaving the tags wants the tags to be read even if there's no way for OP to reply directly.
But then I saw a post saying something to the effect of 'Never EVER Read Your AO3 Bookmark Tags! They are private notes made by the bookmarker, and may include complaints that you don't have enough werewolves.' (Or maybe it was too many werewolves? but no one should be complaining about too many werewolves)
So I stopped reading bookmark tags! Never looked at 'em since. But then today I saw a post about some kind of plugin that makes the tags easier for the author to read. Obviously, made and shared under the assumption that authors want to read those tags!
Therefore, here's the question.
edit: "I did not know people had such strong feelings about this subject" - the last words of a tumblr user

An AO3 poll has single handedly mobilized the x-files fandom to become active again out of sheer spite and I’m living for it
