A Night of Fake Smiles and Hidden Lies: Chapter 9
Astarion and Tav finally get to their first dance. While Tav feels a little like she's going into battle, the vampire can't stop throwing her for a loop - quite literally.

Author's Note: Oh, it really has been long since I updated this, huh? Don't worry I haven't abandoned this story, but I'm still finding a way to balance the excessive urge to write with everything else - and barely sleeping anymore doesn't seem to be the answer, sadly. Anyways, enjoy this part!

With his signature smirk on his lips and his chin lifted up high, the pale elf, whose skin almost looked pearly in the bright and silver moonlight, grabbed your hand firmly while one of his eyebrows twitched in anticipation. He quickly lifted your hand to his lips and pressed a kiss to it.
“Let’s not waste more time then, my sweet”, Astarion practically purred. Then he swiftly joined his fingers with yours and spun you around under his arm before pulling you to his chest again. You giggled and grinned at your loved one: “I love it when you’re being cheesy.”
“I am being perfectly serious! And now, giddyup!”, the vampire responded and swung your arm by your held hands to push you to get going. You just playfully bumped into the vampire and let yourself be led towards the ballroom again.
Passing by the unstopping stream of servants you made your way back through the few rooms on the bottom floor. When you could already see the ballroom getting into view through the suite of rooms and their widely flung open doors, you heard a voice rising above all other noises at the party. Surely it must have been amplified by some magic then.
“…am eternally grateful for the warm and generous welcome, all you wonderful and lovely Baldurians have presented me with in your beautiful city, that – if I dare say so – has so much wonderful potential!” You could hear the crowd erupting into loud applause and even whoops of cheering – alcohol had very obviously been flowing generously, even in the more civilised parts of the event and loosened up even the stiffest of collars. While the host was speaking the orchestra played softly in the background.
But this then must be the elusive host, addressing all his guests. You looked at Astarion as you dragged on his hand to hurry him up – you were actually very curious to see this mysterious man. At least maybe a little closer than when he had made a short appearance at the top of the gallery.
But Astarion had actually even stopped walking. With furrowed brows he was staring intently at the ground. His lips were slightly parted as he obviously tried to desperately concentrate – or remember something? Absent-mindedly he almost let go of your hand.
“Astarion?”, you asked carefully and felt suddenly worried about the sudden change in his mood. The vampire was usually quite whimsical but something in the way his eyes stared at the ground flicking around while a thousand leagues away made you worried.
Meanwhile, the host continued with his appreciative speech, so very obviously sweet-talking his audience to get into their good graces: “Having meticulously prepared this very evening for months,” (you snorted, as if he personally had moved but a finger) “I am so incredibly happy to have you all here for this grand night and my humble entrance” (you snorted again, now almost ripping Astarion out of his stupor with your attitude) “into the society of Baldur’s Gate!” More cheers and whoops from the audience.
You softly squeezed Astarion’s hand. The vampire’s eyes flicked to yours, almost coming back to you. He closed his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath and shook his head softly.
The speech yet wasn’t over: “And now, because I don’t want to keep you too awfully long from your indulgences” – a sultry laughter that was immediately taken up by the enchanted crowd while you could nearly feel yourself having to gag – “how about we get to a big dance, so everybody really gets their blood pumping?”
The crowd erupted, cheered and clapped. You almost felt like you were in your favourite tavern again. For that moment, when the bard of the evening tuned in for the crowd’s favourite song. Definitely not like you were at a high society event right this moment. You heard that the orchestra was beginning to prepare for the announced dance. You heard another voice shortly carry over the rumbling and loud chatter that had broken out about everyone finding their desired dance partner and getting ready to show off. A clear female voice that you realised belonged to the elven singer you had seen before in front of the other musicians declared that the next dance would be a waltz.
You threw Astarion another glance, he seemed to have gotten out of his little fluke.
“Are you alright, my love?”, you asked him silently.
He shook his head once more. “Yes, my sweet, it’s nothing, just a random intrusive thought flashing through my mind.”
You blinked.
“Well, as long as the intrusive thought wasn’t ‘let’s murder everyone at this godsdamned party’ and you intended to act upon it… we’re good?”
Astarion slowly lowered his head as he stared at you.
“My love, for how long have we been together now for you to know me better? I’m not a Bhaalspawn, darling, merely a victim to my own carnal lusts and my desires for you, little siren”, he replied sassily. One of his eyebrows lifted up and he smirked lewdly at you.
But you really had gotten to know him very well and saw the telltale hints that he wasn’t entirely genuine. His old defence mechanism of deflecting something with a sultry comment was something he’d very easily transformed into harmless everyday banter (because he loved to fluster you at every given opportunity). But combined with how stiff his upper lip seemed and how the wrinkle between his eyebrows hadn’t fully flattened again you knew that there was something he wasn’t letting you in on.
But unfortunately, you also knew, that it was an absolutely helpless endeavour to push him about such a topic. Especially since you still were very much in public and Astarion hated nothing more than airing out his dirty laundry to other people – unless maybe it was literal dirty laundry (and maybe lingerie at that). But you made a mental note to come back to it later and try to talk it through with him if he was willing to open up.
For the moment you just gave a defeated sigh at his languid comment and eyebrow wiggle.
Then Astarion obviously remembered what his actual intention had been, and he grabbed your hand again and softly dragged you forward to get to the ballroom again. “Now”, he said teasingly while rushing around people swiftly, “are you finally going to dance with me or not, love?”
“Well, since the perfect opportunity just presented itself, why don’t we actually give it a go instead of just talking about it?”, you replied just as teasingly. You knew that you opened up a challenge to him with your words, but you felt excitement rise up in you already.
Dancing at a ball? In a beautiful dress? With your version of a fairytale prince?
The vision made you kind of want to gag a little because it was so against anything you had been your whole life and stood for. But then again deep down you felt giddy happiness about maybe just experiencing this for once in your life. Just one night of kitsch and cheesiness and a fairytale ending?
Although looking at the way Astarion kept eyeing you, sensing your energy, you were sure the night wouldn’t end with something parents would tell their children at bedtime.
You passed by the buffet, then the pyramid of crystal glasses again, before you were nearly at the ballroom again. Couples were already positioning to start dancing while the dancefloor had spontaneously been expanded to almost envelop the whole room. Leaving almost no bystanders for the coming dance.
In passing you grabbed another glass of champagne from a silver tray and downed it in one go: as much as you were excited, you also could feel yourself getting nervous. The thought of dancing with so many other people being able to watch suddenly making you a little anxious.
Astarion just looked at you with round red eyes in surprise but a soft smile played around his lips as you were already getting rid off the empty glass again.
“I keep being surprised by your drinking habits, love, but then I remember what kind of establishments you used to frequent before we knew each other”, the vampire said while scrunching up his nose a little in disgust at you for having drunk that expensive champagne like a cheap shot.
You shook yourself a little when you felt the fizzy alcohol run down your throat and then deliciously warm you from the inside out. Both of you kept walking towards the dancefloor that was still filling up with more eager couples.
“I keep being surprised by how much of a pretentious prick you are sometimes, darling, and then I remember you used to be one of them”, you countered and waved around to signify you meant all the nobles around.
“Ouch”, the pale elf replied but he did actually grin at your quick and witty comeback. The way he could bicker with you being one of his favourite things about you.
While you approached the other couples you moved your head around as if trying to crack your neck and rolled your shoulders a little. You almost felt like…
“You are not going into battle, love”, Astarion remarked dryly watching your shenanigans.
You stared at him with a bit of a grimace: “With that many people around we might as well be. Also…” – you sighed – “I know you taught me, and you did a wonderful job, but… At home no one was around to judge me, really”, you confessed while you stopped at the very edge of what was seemingly deemed the space for dancing.
“What about the night at the tavern, hm?”
“Do you have an idea how drunk I was?”, you asked him in return. Astarion just scoffed.
“Also, there was magic at play!”, you desperately tried to justify yourself.
Astarion cocked his head at you: “Is my love for you not magical enough for you to forget all your worries and fears, darling?”
You crossed your arms over your chest and stared at him unblinkingly – not responding to that nonsense in any kind of way. You turned your gaze towards where the orchestra were readying themselves to play for what was probably the big moment of the evening.
“My sweet, are you seriously telling me that you were – as you have pointed out yourself, just about a few minutes ago, not afraid to take on a literal god but you are afraid to dance around some coiffed poodles and drunken imbeciles now?” Astarion’s voice rose up at least on octave as he talked himself into a fit.
Now you felt called out by him and you didn’t like it. You nervously looked over to him again, but the vampire’s face was scrunched up in a grimace looking at you. His brows were furrowed and the wrinkle between them was very steep indeed. Barely the only thing missing was for him to put his hands on his hips and stomp his foot.
Your mouth pressed into a line as you stared back at him – you felt more nervousness as you noticed everyone getting into position.
“Can we just go and get started please?”, you pleaded with Astarion.
But your vampire kept staring you down. His expression changed slowly, and you could almost see the cunning plan form behind his eyes. His gaze became sultry as yours became alarmed.
“Astarion, whatever you are thinking: NO!”
A grin split the vampire’s face: “Oh what, my love? All I’m going to say is when I am done dancing with you every single person in this room will either want to be you or be with you.” His eyebrow twitched and he licked over his bared teeth while he took a step towards you. His gaze was almost predatory. And the intensity on his wickedly beautiful face in that moment almost took your breath away.
“Ready to take on all that competition then, Astarion?”, you answered weakly in an attempt to get back at him for baffling you. He just knowingly lowered his gaze at you – because he knew. There was no competition as long as he was around.
The conductor of the orchestra very fittingly chose this moment to tap his baton against his music stand. Then he lifted his arms and the room’s anticipation rose to a max. Breaths were held, chins lifted up, feet silently shuffled around.
“Let’s just go, please”, you scream-whispered at Astarion as the room had mostly become silent for a second in heated aspiration. You turned away from him and wanted to finally enter the dancefloor while the music started to rise up. Couples started to slowly turn – some immediately and horrendously arhythmic. Maybe you really didn’t need to worry that much.
You only got about one step in, when you felt a firm grip on your wrist.
“Ah ah ah, we don’t rush, my heart!”, Astarion scolded you and dragged you back as you were seriously getting annoyed at him. “I don’t remember formally inviting you to dance with me.”
“Do you need a three-day notice or what?”, you snapped at him and actually did stomp your foot. But the vampire was not to be ruffled as he made you turn to him again at the edge of the dancefloor.
He smirked at you: “Come on, play along, indulge me. Once in a lifetime opportunity.”
You tapped your foot but the vampire’s gaze and grin didn’t falter. You sighed in desperation and motioned him to go on.
The swelling music was filling the whole room, sending goosebumps all over your skin now. You noticed that it was considerably louder now than it had been when you had arrived. Your brimming anxiety and anticipation probably were amplified by it.
You stared at your partner who in a very theatrical manner now put his heels together, incredibly elegantly bowed and dramatically reached out his hand to you.
“My beautiful darling, Tav, would you be ever so gracious as to honour my humble self with your hand, if only for this dance? And let me twirl you around as if you were the princess that I’ve been wooing for months with my eloquent love letters and could only hope to admire from a distance so far?”, he asked and put on his poshest of accents. He almost sounded as if he was reciting poetry although you heard the humours hints in his voice.
Gods, and for as much as you hated all of this and for as much as it wasn’t who you were: you couldn’t help but giggle giddily in this moment – as your admirer had just propositioned to you, how thrilling!
He had gotten to you, you were now fully ready to play along – if only for shits and giggles.
“Oh my love, Astarion, I would love nothing more but to be spun around in your arms and then afterwards keep dreaming about it forevermore”, you replied and put your hand in his in an overly exaggerated motion.
You desperately had to bite your cheek to not start laughing. Astarion shortly moved your offered hand to his lips to press a kiss to them. You could see that he too was barely containing laughter with the terrible histrionics you’d both put on. The way he bit his lip showing off one of his pronounced canines for a moment.
But then he finally rose up from his elegant bow and swiftly spun you under his arm once before he finally led you upon the dancefloor. He lifted your hand up high in his and confidently walked through all the other couples that seemingly were intimidated by your mere presence alone. No one dared to cross your path as Astarion walked you straight to the middle of the dancefloor.
You saw that quite a lot of pairs of eyes were watching you. Probably from the scene you had caused earlier or because you were fashionably late to the waltz. You tried not to think about it.
Once in the dead centre of the dancefloor, Astarion swung you around to face him, grabbed your other hand to lift it up while the other wandered to the small of your back. You planted your other hand softly on his shoulder just as he had taught you.
“Time for another lesson, love”, Astarion said as his ruby eyes twinkled mischievously at you – one of his white curls had fallen playfully onto his forehead too. You raised your eyebrows at him. “Once you start, never stop dancing!”
And then he finally started dancing with you. He effortlessly led you around the dancefloor at breakneck speed. Your skirt was flying around you as you turned and turned.
You were entirely sure that you were looking at your vampire like a deer being snuck upon in the woods. Your heart was racing as you felt both incredibly excited and very nervous still – the rush of the sheer speed you were waltzing around the room with amplifying both.
Astarion’s eyes were solely on you as he held you close and without showing an ounce of effort elegantly made you sweep across the dancefloor. The many lights sparkled in them, making them look like rubies. You could’ve gotten lost in them.
But keeping up with Astarion, even though he was masterfully leading you in this waltz and his arm was firmly holding you, was still taking a lot of your attention. The two of you had practiced quite a lot. And you had learnt the steps and routines quite quickly, but you had been anxious about making a fool out of yourself.
“You’re thinking too much, my heart”, you heard Astarion say softly – despite the loud orchestral music that only seemed to keep swelling. You blinked at him and almost stumbled right then and there because he had taken you off guard.
You didn’t even dare to reply because you were now awfully aware of your feet and about everything that could go wrong. You gulped and felt how your arms got shaky – even the glass of champagne you had right before this couldn’t help you anymore with this. Anxiously your gaze dropped downward to check if your feet where still correctly doing what they were supposed to.
“Ah ah ah”, the vampire scolded you and with a swift movement he lifted his hand from where it had been on your back to raise up your chin again. “What did I tell you, my sweet, chin up, you’re the second most beautiful person in this room.”
Somehow his teasing brought back some of your cool. “How many times do you want to switch up that compliment, dear?”, you spat back and felt the sudden urge to step on his foot again – why was he always so irritating?
Astarion’s face split into an enormous grin as he kept turning with you in his arms. “As much as needed”, he replied, and you saw how one of his eyebrows twitched. “You look so beautiful when you’re annoyed with me, love.”
Oh, the audacity! Trust Astarion to turn a romantic moment into a godsdamned punchline. You stared him down angrily – meanwhile forgetting to struggle with the dancing.
Astarion’s grin kept growing, now even revealing his fangs. He knew exactly what he had done. And you had to be honest with yourself: you were grateful for it. As always, he had figured out just the right buttons to push.
“I hate you”, you simply threw to him, too stubborn to acknowledge how he had gotten you to loosen up. But a smirk was growing on your face now.
For that remark Astarion quickly moved to make you spin under his arm again. You squealed a little, surprised by the sudden twirl you were forced to take. Then you were right back, pressed firmly against the vampire’s chest. He looked at you with mock disappointment, slightly shaking his head and clicking his tongue. All of course while the dance was still going.
“We don’t lie, my heart”, Astarion said with both eyebrows drawn up and cocking his head a little, his tone teasingly condescending.
“Maybe if you were being nice.”
“Am I not being nice right now? Am I not the perfect paradigm of a courteous, gallant gentleman right this very moment, my darling?”, the vampire drawled sarcastically.
“Paradigm of being full of it, is what you are”, you offered him in return.
And he threw you for another unplanned and uncalled for spin under his arm.
“STOP IT”, you whisper-screamed at your vampire and struggled to not fall while also conveying your anger at him. Astarion just laughed at you. But he quickly went back to just genuinely smiling at you, admiration clear in his eyes.
“Just close your eyes, my heart, enjoy the moment – just let me lead you, you know the steps, love”, he said gingerly after a little while without a note of mocking in it now. You stared at him for a moment longer, asking yourself if he might be meaning to make you fall – but then you followed his suggestion. You trusted him after all – fully.
You only felt unsteady for a short moment. The vampire’s arm around you was holding you securely as you tried to concentrate fully on the sensations surrounding you.
The first thing was probably the music – the way it was filling the room completely and went through your body. You felt how the skirt around you kept flying and how the dancing and the speed of your turns and other couples passing by made for small of gusts of wind.
Your feet now effortlessly found their footing and as you kept swirling around, you felt how the anxiety slowly disappeared. Astarion’s body was so close to yours – reminding you that you had a steady anchor with you, always. You focused on how his hand felt on the small of your back, his other in yours. How the fabric of his fine doublet felt pleasantly under your fingertips.
And joy crept into your heart as you enjoyed being turned around seemingly endlessly in your lover’s arms. Your head fell back, and you felt a smile creep onto your lips. The joy you felt manifesting as some kind of untameable force as you kept feeling the rush of moving at impossible speed. The alcohol you’ve had. The things you’ve experienced. The man holding you.
Just you being here with your soulmate, enjoying this moment.
You opened your eyes then, focusing on nothing really, just letting everything rush by in a blur of colours while you kept focusing on how it felt to be swirled around in Astarion’s arms. Lights flashed by, music was thrumming through your entire body. You were desperately aware of how close you were to the person you loved the most in this world. And you also heard your vampire softly chuckling at you finally just letting loose in the joy of the moment.
It didn’t get any better than this.

I'm sobbing and so does Chopin
I understand that Miku is the most famous Vocaloid among all of them (probably the icon) but mAN- I don't know how should I feel when a song that was made for Classicaloid gets to be called as the Vocaloid song from GOTG3, I mean it's technically is a Vocaloid song since it features vocal synthesizer voices but damn, only 0.01% knew it originates from an anime 😭 I can't really argue with that.

IDK WHETHER I SHOULD BE HAPPY THAT KOINU NO CARNIVAL IS GETTING ATTENTION - I am happy that Ehamic's music is getting more popular and more people know about the music (like oh my god finally some recognition), but also a part of me feels frustrated that it will be remembered as the "Vocaloid song from GOTG3", again. I kind of have mixed feelings for it.
Not to mention that it's not just Miku singing in that song, there are 50 Vocaloids included - I can't believe someone dissected the voices and recognizes them!

Anyways, if you like a slice of life anime of the historical composers that can transform into magical boys/girls (such as Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Lizst, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, Badarzewska, etc) + classical music remixes I suggest you to watch Classicaloid 😳 That "slice of life" can be very random and chaotic, but it explains their character along the series. It'll make you "what the fuck is going on" too. They have from comedic, serious, fun to sad moments.

It has 2 seasons, 25 episodes each! 50 episodes in total. Each composers are able to wield their powers called Musik and they have unique abilities!

Laia: Um. I was just gonna say it's really graceful and elegant, but Wikipedia says: "'Le cygne' illustrates the fleeting nature of beauty with its interpretation of the legend of the 'swan song'". So, uh. Guess it fits!!
Millie: Mischief and chaos. Clownery. Buffoonery.
Vlad: The kind of piece you'd find in one of those "pov: you're waltzing with your soulmate when you realize they came back wrong" playlists, probably
Leo: Yeah, it's soft. Yeah, it's complex. Yeah, it makes you wanna cry. Yeah, it's beloved. Leo Nolan!!
Sandra: ...Listen, it's what Sandra deserves! To rule a beautiful land of sweets, and to end the night with her beloved, dancing to one of the most beautiful musical pieces ever made. She is a magical sweetheart. She deserves the world and the Tchaikovsky masterpiece!!

Hasan: I think this one has strong moments, and then there's a bit of a lull, you know? Anyway, I like to think that represents those years he was dead dead
Mehmed: It just sounds like someone who has secret nefarious plans. And, I'm not gonna lie, this one kind of reminds me of The Imperial March, and that guy was good by the end too, so, it fits! Plus, it being a waltz mirrors Vlad's piece 😉

Books I Read In September
45. The Oleander Sword, by Tasha Suri

Pre-ordered this, and I’m entirely happy with what I got. I mean it’s got intrigue and angst and the literal and metaphorical selling of souls and lesbians and eldritch horrors and war crimes, what’s not to love?
But really, I’m pretty sure I already made the joke, but SFF lesbians and weird power dynamics around fealty and martyrdom sure are a pair, huh? (Or maybe that’s just a random bit of selection bias in the books I read/see talked about, but eh. I should catch up on Montress.)
Anyway, Malini is a joy to read, and the Yaksha are absolutely gorgeous and come across as rather believably alien, though I really do wish they weren’t quite so straightforwardly malevolent, and the temple/palace intrigues with whatever the asshole emperor’s name was and his priests was great. Can’t wait for book 3.
46. None the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir

My other pre-ordered book of the year. And look, I am largely outsourcing my opinions on this book to the ongoing 24/7 symposium digging into every bit of symbolism and possible reference in these things going on here in the tag. But, like, book good. 
Also Pal and Cam, my beloveds. And Nona is adorable. 
I need to go scream in the wilderness a bit again.
47. The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid

This month’s attempt to acquire some Culture, via what was apparently the most influential book of 2007 (literally recommended to me because a coworker’s book club is doing it). 
But no, this was good! Very much of it’s time, though less in a ‘dated in a bad way’ way, and more in a ‘future generations of college students will get assigned this and told to write an essay about the cultural fallout of the War On Terror.’ 
It really, really committed to the whole ‘life story told in a conversation over dinner’ framing device, to a degree that books basically never do - the prose of the whole thing still felt conversational and like it could actually be said by one person to another. The constant asides to the cuisine being served and the order of the courses and everything did eventually start to grate, though. 
The big central twist is, well, barely a twist - except that the title gives you a very definite idea of where the protagonist’s arc is going to end up that you bring with you into the book. Still, really well done.
I’m surprised you don’t see the janissarya analogy made more often in modern polemic. Shoe doesn’t exactly fit, but close enough that you’d think it’d get some use.
48. Exit Strategy by Martha Wells

I really do adore Murderbot stories. They’re just perfectly sized for a lazy afternoon or two of reading, they’ve got the plot structure of a tightly edited 40-minute tv episode, and they’re just great fun comfort reads. Perfect book pringles. (Also Murderbot is one of the greatest protagonists of all time).
This one in particular would have honestly worked pretty well as a finale to the series? Or, since it clearly isn’t, I guess ‘works as a season finale’ is the better way to put it? It resolves the central underlying plot thread that’s been running through the books so far quite nicely, anyway. 
I totally admit that aside from Murderbot only, like, four characters have made a sufficient impression that I can reliably identify them by just their names, though. 
49. Elder Race by Adrian Tchaikovsky

Hey, I finally finished the last Hugo nominee! Now to start feeling properly guilty about failing to answer that ask about my ranking/opinions from a month ago. 
But no, this was good. The only Tchaikovsky I’d read before was Children of Time/Ruin, so this was definitely a change of pace (obvious similarities in setting aside). The whole central conceit of ‘fantasy setting is actually the result of an apocalypse destroying a technologically advanced civilization and the descendents of the survivors viewing the remnants as magical relics and sorcery’ is so thoroughly cliche I think people just stopped writing it for a couple decades, but the execution is really well done. 
Nyr and Lynette are both fun POVs, anyway, and I absolutely adore anything that has multiple POVs seeing/taking part in the same events and interpreting them wildly differently. The one chapter that had two columns with Nyr providing exposition on one side and what Lynette&co actually understood him as saying on the other was great. 
Tchaikovsky also did a really excellent job of capturing the whole horror and grief and ennui of being the Last Of Your Kind better than I usually see, and also saying Fuck the Prime Directive, which is always appreciated. 
Also incredibly endearing that Nyr’s whole transhuman civilization gave themselves giant badass horns and then collectively decided to pretend it was for pragmatic utilitarian reasons. 
50. Fugitive Telemetry by Martha Wells

Because it’s 2 murder 2 bot month, I guess (but no all my holds on these really did just come in at once).
So apparently this was actually written after the novel, which I only found out after finishing it, but chronologically it seems to have taken place before? Which conveniently means I didn’t accidentally ruin any big twists for myself.  
Anyway, this was a fun detective story sort of thing. Murderbot being continuously annoyed at how much harder the lack of a dystopian panopticon made their job was a great running gag.
51. The Thousand Eyes by A. K. Larkwood

Because it’s magical lesbians month, I guess. 
But no, this was a fun read. The whole setting and tone were very, hmm, D&D? Like a real mixture of super fantastical elements and generic fantasy things given different names (there are elves, and orcs, and for some reason specifically yuan-ti) and then the vision of society and the economics and the mindset and vocabulary of everyone who hasn’t been asleep in a ditch for ten thousand years is just incredibly modern. Not a complaint, it’s just very much a thing. 
My actual complaint is that this was like four different discrete stories stacked on top of each other and put into a compactor until they all fit in one book. There were a lot of times where I was kind of left feeling that Larkwood was relying on me knowing how a given story/character arc goes so she could just skip through the high points and then resolve it without necessarily building it up beforehand. 
(I also have a perpetual dislike for the plot beat of ‘oh no, the abusive cult who raised you was just doing their religion wrong. We’ve got a direct line to your/their god and he’s actually a great guy!’)
Interesting how minor a character Csorwe is in this one compared to Unspoken Name, really, but Shuthmili and Tal are both incredibly fun POVs so can’t say I really mind. Tsundere dragon goddess of betrayal and destruction was also a great time.

For children of the '80s and '90s, the Cannon Movie Tales are cult classics much like Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre. Filmed in Israel, released direct-to-VHS, and shown frequently on the Disney Channel too, these nine fairy tale movie musicals are a memorable blend of '80s camp and sincere, innocent charm, performed by casts filled with celebrities. Sleeping Beauty, the second film in the series, is no exception. It stars Tahnee Welch (daughter of Raquel Welch) as Princess Rosebud, Morgan Fairchild as the Queen, musical theatre actor David Holliday as the King, Oscar-nominee Sylvia Miles as the villainous Fairy of Red, rock singer Jane Wiedlin as the kindly Fairy of White, Nicholas Clay as the Prince, and dwarf actor Kenny Baker, best known as R2D2 in Star Wars, as a friendly Elf.
This Sleeping Beauty blends details from both Perrault and the Grimms' versions of the tale, while adding creative touches too. The Elf – a character inspired by a briefly-mentioned dwarf in Perrault's version – serves as the chief viewpoint character. At the beginning, he makes so much mischief that the old Master Elf threatens to banish him unless he uses his magic for good instead. He soon sees a chance for a good deed when he finds the Queen yearning for a child; he brews her a potion, resulting in the birth of Princess Rosebud. Eight good fairies are invited to the celebration of her birth, each with a different signature color for her hair, wings, and dress, and who give Rosebud their magical gifts in a dance set to the Garland Waltz from Tchaikovsky's ballet. But the Fairy of Red goes uninvited, because as in the Grimms' version of the tale, there aren't enough golden plates. Of course, the fiery, flamboyant fairy comes anyway, and the Fairy of White has to soften her curse from death to sleep.
Sixteen years later, Rosebud has grown to be an inquisitive maiden, fascinated by the stories her nurse tells her of far-off lands with charming princes... and where strange contraptions called spinning wheels are used to make cloth. In a unique, comic portrayal of the repercussions of the King's ban on spinning, the entire kingdom, including the royal family, is forced to wear old, tattered rags, because no new fabric can be made. When the castle servants finally complain and threaten to quit, the King and Queen set out on a tour of other countries to buy cloth. Unfortunately, the day before they come home, Rosebud is exploring the castle grounds when she finds a mysterious tower, and glimpses an old woman with a spinning wheel inside. That night, when everyone else is asleep (including the Elf, who had promised the Queen he would guard her) Rosebud sneaks back to the tower to meet the old spinner... who of course is the Fairy of Red in disguise.
The next day, the King and Queen come home and are distraught to find their daughter in her enchanted sleep. But the Elf travels with seven-league boots to bring the Fairy of White back to the castle. With almost funny nonchalance, the good Fairy puts every mortal in the kingdom to sleep, then enshrouds the castle with vines to ensnare any would-be intruders – as a hundred years later, several skeletons reveal. When the Prince comes along, traveling in search of a cure for his loneliness and longing, he learns the tale of Rosebud from the now-elderly Elf, but his companions convince him that it must be a trap. Yet just as they ride away, the castle magically appears on their map where it hadn't been before. The Prince gallops back to battle the vines, enter the dark castle, and wake Rosebud with his kiss, restoring life and joy to the kingdom.
In terms of artistry, this Sleeping Beauty is a mixed bag. The budget is fairly low, although the sets and the medieval/Renaissance-era costumes are handsome, and the special effects are decent, but far from sophisticated. The whole production has an air of campy theatricality much like Faerie Tale Theatre, but without the same self-aware humor. Yet flawed though it may be, this is a charming Sleeping Beauty all the same. The starry cast does a fine job with their roles, particularly Kenny Baker's likable Elf and Sylvia Miles's shamelessly hammy evil fairy. Tahnee Welch is a bit stiff and stone-faced as Princess Rosebud, but she compensates with the striking beauty she inherited from her famous mother. And apart from a few corny lyrics, the songs by screenwriter Michael Berz and Max Robert – "Spin, Spin, Spin," "Queen's Lament," "Life Looks Rosier Today," "Rip," "Dare Me," "All to Sleep," "Slumber," and the joyful main theme, "How Good It Is" – are tuneful and endearing.
A perfect film this isn't, but its campy charm, and its nostalgic appeal for those of us who grew up with it, can't be denied.

Book Review (7/3/23)
The King Must Fall by Adrian Collins (4/5)
A wonderful collection of dark and bloody stories. What You Wish For by Devin Madson (4.5/5) Maybe it’s the fact this is the first story in the anthology or maybe it’s that fairytale-like ending but I loved this story apart from one or two of the character names. The Dark Son by Luke Scull (4/5) Apart from the jungle setting the story wasn’t too original but it did benefit from having one of the rare endings to come with a positive message. Glory to the King! by Anna Smith Spark (3/5) While the idea of imposter syndrome in an undefeated ruler was interesting to read and the writing generally solid, said ruler’s profanity-laced narration struck me as more juvenile than moving personally speaking. The Book Burner’s Fall by Anthony Ryan (3.5/5) While well-written, particularly in its opening sections, I was left somewhat dissatisfied by the climax. Mother Death by Michael R. Fletcher (5/5) The Ice Age-inspired setting, the unique magic system, and the compelling first-person narration made this one an instant favorite of mine. The Black Horse by Jeremy Szal (4/5) The bloodiest of the bunch, this story really reminded me of TLOU from the dynamic between the two main characters to the moral dilemma presented at the climax. Thrall by Lee Murray (4/5) The story didn’t do anything unexpected apart from making the selkies New Zealander but it was well-told. King for a Day by Daniel Polansky (4/5) The Mesoamerican-inspired setting was interesting but what really grabbed my attention was just how many times the MacGuffin changed hands, not to mention the fact each murderous, would-be ruler having a different reason for wanting power. Looking back now, it kind of reads like someone adding the One Ring or the Green Pearl to The Emperor’s New Groove, which…obviously isn’t very funny. The King-Killing Queen by Shawn Speakman (5/5) Really wish I could have backed the expanded edition on Kickstarter. Anyway, what I liked most about this particular story was the blending of an Arthurian-based mythos with a GRRM-like sensibility regarding the human condition. The Face of the King by Adrian Tchaikovsky (5/5) This story was by far the most experimental, which immediately earns it some brownie points. The fact Tchaikovsky actually managed to pull off the present tense, second-person narration and stick the landing with one of the most memorable endings in the whole book, on the other hand, elevates it to the top of the pile. Hand of the Artist by Trudi Canavan (5/5) This was another first-person story I really enjoyed. The protagonist was very relatable and it was nice to see a king be brought down through the healing power of art for a change. The Conspiracy Against the Twenty-Third Canton by Alex Marshall (4.5/5) A non-European setting combined with two likable female protagonists and a few good twists made this a pleasure to listen to though there were some instances of modern language I didn’t particularly enjoy. Also, cannibalism. The Blade Queen and the Stoneheart by Anna Stephens (3/5) Apart from the titular Blade Queen none of the characters were that interesting and again the amount of profanity was a turn-off. That said, the ending did leave a striking image in my mind and the homage to Eowyn from LOTR a nice touch as well. The Day the Gods Went Silent by Justin T. Call (3/5) Well-written but overstuffed with world-building. A Piece of Movable Type by Peter Orullian (2.5/5) Apart from the ending the story wasn’t so much bad as it was dull and underwhelming. Definitely the weakest of the bunch in my opinion. The Wizard in the Tower by Kameron Hurley (5/5) I wasn’t expecting something romantic but I’m also not going to complain when it’s this good. The Varcolac by Matthew Ward (4.5/5) The relatively straightforward plot was elevated by cool characters, excellent prose, and a stellar ending that left me torn. On Wings of Song by Deborah A. Wolf (5/5) A fairytale-like story of sirens and female friendship that was heartwarming, if appropriately bloody by the end. The Last Days of Old Sharakhi by Bradley P. Beaulieu (4.5/5) Definitely a high note to end the anthology on. As an Arab, I adored the Middle Eastern setting but just as much I enjoyed the themes of change, legacy, and mortality. Special shoutout to audiobook narrator, Greg Patmore, who did an excellent job narrating each story.

May i introduce you to my newest erasermic au
Basically it's set in a sort of magic-but it's not used or related to the plot/used by characters setting, think of a got kind of thing/Royal guard au
with
1) yamada as new commander/great general of the royal army. Now, his family is half-outsider like he's half from the country we're speaking of and half from another country (insert maybe half elf? Not sure on that.). Anyways, despite the prejudice he faces because of his half-n-half-ness he rises through the army power ranks (he doesn't know it yet but it's exactly because he's lived part of his life outside the kingdom, the reason while he's rising this fast. Think about something on the line of "nobles not wanting someone aware of the army's corruptness at the power" ,and yamada being the perfect puppet ), especially because the latest commander/great general left the spot and seemingly disappeared.

2) Aizawa is the old great general. Used to be a "commands are commands. Do not ask. King's word is rule." Kind of guy, before finding out the corruption of the army's lines aka soldiers being bribed, orders from the government being shit like torturing peasants who did actually nothing wrong and shit like that. Now he lives as one of the peasants he despised, in a random hut offering his rusty sword to help villagers, with his knowledge and strenght to save what's left of one of the frontieer's little towns. What made him change his mind? A guy whom he happened to meet during his army years, named Shirakumo Oboro. Insert little love story with Aizawa and Oboro where Oboro dies because of a bunch of corrupt soldiers who happened to stroll in the village, killing people, destroying stuff just for fun, when Aizawa wasn't watching. Now, Aizawa blames himself for not doing anything about it, so he starts tending to what Oboro left behind, (fields, his cats, the town) and, after a while of trying to "fix" the army, failing miserably, he is secretly kicked from the spot to help full time the peasants.

Also for those of you who know european history (not US mfs, lord I've known 5 bitches from USA and none of those knew shit about history )': ) you can think of general anger with the people in a pre-french Revolution kind of way? Like the whole Versailles shit but the nobles actually pay the royal guard to be bitches towards the people.
BUT COMING BACK TO THE ERASERMIC SHIT
These 2 end up meeting because of the incoming war and the town being a strategic point. Aizawa wants the Army gone from the town, and yamada keeps insisting to stay. It's kind of an enemies to lovers from now on.
Now, Yamada knows very few about the unfair treatment of the poor in this country, for he has lived a very sheltered life+partially in another nation, so getting to see the treatment of these poor people first hand makes him understand more and more Aizawa's point of view.
Still, Aizawa is still very against Yamada and hates him, (until he doesn't).
Shota doesn't realize how much he misses Yamada only until when the blond leaves the town alone, after Shota snaps at him. Months pass and Shota hears nothing again from him, and lets his feelings grow, until one day he wakes up with Yamada bloody and beaten up found near the village.

 chapter 1: Hearts Of Swan

ATO I – Pas De Deux 
Jamie Fraser could not say he was a fan of Classical Ballet. In fact, he was unable to understand even the smallest thing about it or the intricate and elegant movements of the dancers. But he was a fan of classical music since he was a child in Lallybroch, running away from his sister’s shoes and listening Ellen Fraser, his mother, playing the piano with undrilled passion and full heart. It was the sweetest parts of his childhood, seeing his mon safe and healthy before the gloomy claws of cancer came and took her away, far from him and his two brothers. Then, of course after that, the music stopped. Ellen was the shape of music, melody and happiness, the heart of the house, without her there was no reason to keep playing and living their best life. Until his middle sister kick their ass out of self-pity. 
“Mama would be ashamed of us.” – Jenny said in her firm voice but betrayed by her shaking hands. “We have to keep walking. Head up and keep walking. That’s what she always said. Head up and keep walking, William and Jamie.” – So did they. 
Head up and keep walking, he made up his way on the med-school. He built a solid career as a Trauma Surgeon, after came back from the army, and a home in Edinburgh. William was an administrator,  married and almost a father and Jenny was an architect, with three little children and married with Ian, a good man, friend and lawyer. 
He, working as a doctor in full time, didn’t spend time looking for real bonds or marriages like his brothers did. As a man not adept to the casual sex, he only had short relationships in almost ten years. Leogharie, who scared the hell out of him at the end – she was a stalker and very jealous, toxic, if he could say – and Genebra, a doctor too, but immature and selfish.
None of them was the one that his mother always talked about, so he got over easily. But, anyway, he was not looking for it —the one—,  like his brothers did, because Jamie really knew it would be difficult find one love like his parents had and after all he went through, difficult was not so attractive anymore. 
So, now, he was on a theatre alone after he refused the company of a girl that Angus and Rupert, two orthopedists, invited for him, watching the First Act of Swans Lakes. 
Jamie, of course, knew that the libretto is based on a story by the German author, Johann Karl August Musäus, The Stolen Veil, that tells about Odette, a beautiful girl, that was cursed to spend her entire day as a swan, returning to the shape of a woman only at night. The curse  said that the spell can only be broken if one who has never loved before swears to love Odette forever. So, one day, at night, Prince Siegfried was hunting at a lakeside when he found her and fell in love.
But nothing would be so easily, even in the fairytales... On the other side from story, there was Von Rothbarth, an evil sorcerer, that disguised his daughter, Odile, to look exactly like Odette and deceive the Prince. 
He watched the acts without really paying attention, just absorbing the Tchaikovsky’s melodies played by the intrumentalists when the act changed again and a new character entered in scene.
She was... Breathtaking. And he was speechless. 
All dressed in black, stormy eyes and graceful intricate movements, she was the shape of hurricane and captvated Jamie completly... it was as if he was watching a whirlwind though the windows of his house, anxiously waiting for the moment when he would be dragged by her overpowering wind. 
But in the meantime, he watched she dances...
Her movements were passionate and full of emotion... it was like seeing fairys dancing, slow and softly as the melody went down a few tones and  chaotic as the melody rose. She never stopped, she never hesitated. She kept going and going, in ups and downs: passionate and enchanting. 
He felt her angry, her love, her ambition every time she stretched her body, raised her thin but strong arms above her head or just around her; every time she raised her long legs on a elaborate movement and every time she changed her facial expression. 
She was brilliant and ethereal, like something between the orphic and the magical. 
She stole the scene, and being mushy, he could say that she stole a part of his heart too, (without any protest). 
The Black Swan… She had already overwhelmed him. 
ATO II — Dance Of Swans 
Even when he left the stage, he kept in a chaotic silence inside himself. He tried, but he could not recognize the feelings he felt when he saw her leaving. He supposed to be watching the new act that was happening, but his mind was a mess.  
Jamie was not a man who believed in love at first sight. He was a romantic, but not so daring. However, it was  ironic that nothing could explain exactly what he felt  beyond the words “love at first sight.” 
He never had a experience like that in his life. 
Jamie sighed, feeling the need of took a deep breath far from the audience, where her energy still hovered in the atmosphere. He left his place, calmly, and walked through the halls of the theater when he heard some loud voices.
Approaching himself from where he heard the noise, he could not help but heard the conversation of some dancers. 
“I think she will not come back to the stage.” — then, the fiery hair woman sigh. — “She wants to be strong and she will not say that she’s tired, but if she keep dancing today, her feet...” — another sigh and a man near the woman took a deep breath too. 
“Do you think it’s broken or just...?” — he asks. 
“Not broken, yet.” — he heard the woman emphasizes the ‘yet’. — “But will be if she not leave someone take a look at it.” 
“She still has two acts, what we gonna do without the ‘Black Swan’?” — Jamie’s heart sank. She was hurt and he could not just be here, listening to this and not trying help.
Using his 20 seconds of courage, he left the shadows and scared the both dancers, who looked at him with doubt eyes. 
“Good-night, I-’’ — he cursed himself, what the hell was happening with him today? — “I could nae help, but I heard ye two sayin’ that someone is hurt. I’m a doctor. There is somethin’ I can help?” — he finished his introduction. The woman and the man took a moment to staring at him, looked over if he is confident, what apparently they decided he was. 
“We don't have time... He will fit.” — the man said to his company. — “Our friend hurt her feet. It looks like it will swell...” — Jamie nodded,  already in his doctor-mood while the dancers and him were walking through the hall to the backstage. 
Jamie was the last to enter the room and when he saw her, the unknown  feelings dragged him again. 
She was just sitting in a chair clenching her feet, but he felt like she was tap-dancing on his heart. 
“Claire, we found a doctor and he will look at your feet, so maybe you can come back and keep performing.” — the woman said. Then, Claire raised her face and looked at him. 
Her stormy eyes (between blue and green as an ocean) met his eyes (just grains of sand) and Jamie prayed to the heaven. 
Oh, Lord, if Ye are puttin' this rare woman in front of me... I hope she can be mine. 
He approached of her and kneeled by her side without his eyes leaves hers. 
“You do not need to do it, Sir.” — her english accent appeared and again, she choked his words. Furthermore, he already knew that the way she drawled the words, her hoarse and  melodic voice would chase him in his dreams. 
“Och, dinna fash, Sassenach.” — he tryed to wink, and saw her help a laugh. He helped frowned his head, confused. He already did something wrong? — “It’s a pleasure to help. ‘Dancers are the athletes of God’.” 
“Uuh, Einsten...” — She recognises and so frowned her forehead. — “Had I thought Sassenach was an insult?” 
Jamie wanted kill himself. Please, 5 minutes in her presence and he already had embarrassed himself.
“Och, lass, I dinna want tae insult you. It's just meaning ye are an English.” 
She giggles. 
“Yeah, somethings you can not change.” — he smiled and so, with a look, asked for her permission to touch her right feet. She smiled and with a Herculeos Effort, he helped himself to look at her with heart-stupid-eyes and  started to squeezing it. 
Realizing that the two dancers had left the room, Jamie felt the sweat run down his forehead and his hands freeze. Oh, please. Give me a chance, Lord. 
He started his analyse of her feet, and Claire started analyzing him. His eyes his jaw, his hands squeezing calmly her bones. He was a beautiful man, probably at the 28 age, married and with one or two beautiful redhead child. 
“My friends said you are a doctor.” — she starts a talk. Jamie nods. 
“Aye, I’m a Trauma Surgeon.” — she sigh. 
“Wow. This is amazing. They don't know, but I'm a doctor too, a neurosurgeon ...  if you can call ‘I have med-school certificate’ like that...”
Jamie stops for a moment and looks ate her. Amazed. Dragged by her, again. Claire keeps winning it. 
“Now, I have tae say ‘WOW’, Sassenach.” — he jokes and she smiles. 
“None questions about how fool I’m for spend my time dancing when I have a doctor certificate in my safe box?” — she mocks herself. 
“What ye feel when ye dance?” — he asks, instead. And she did not need time to think about it. 
“I’m feel free.”  — she says. 
“So, there is my answer.” — he wink again and she smile, pure and enchanted.
She, despite the fact that he was a stranger, feel safe to share her stuffs with him. By the way, they probably will not meet again. 
“I was tired. Tired to be a surgeon. I always loved to do my work,. it was what I always wanted to be. A doctor. A neurosurgeon. When I was in an O.R, I felt like I was on top of the the world. I felt I could do anything. But... with the love comes the responsabilities and the pressure, the oppression... I almost got depressed. So I stoped and came back to dance.” — she smiles. — “And I do not tell it to anyone, because... probably, I don't like the questions that came after.” — she slipped out with a sigh, at the the end. — “Do you can understand?” 
He had stoped his analyses to listen to her, squeezing her hand in his, trying to comfort Claire a little bit. And a bubble seemed to catch they two, leaving they stuck in their own atmosphere. 
“Aye, I get it. I was in the army.” — he tells. — “And when I came back, I thought I could not scrub in an O.R again. I loved surgery, bein’ a doctor, but it was like I was not in love anymore. I think it happens because we feel as a fraud. We supposed tae be healers, and we believe we are at the first moment, but then, we can not save all lives. Deaths are many than lifes saved and it destroys ye.” 
Claire squeezed his hands, smiling at him. “Yes, it is exactly it. That’s why I left my job and started in a Ballet Company, travelling around the world with them.” 
Jamie smiles. And, without realises, wrap his her hair around one of his ffingers stroking the black crows's curls.   
“Ye are a wee brave thing, aren’t you?”  — he asks, rhetorically, and the atmosphere changes completely. The friendly air turned out in a heated bubble. Just popped when Claire took her eyes off of him. Suddenly, very conscious that she did not even know his name yet. 
He seemed steady as he kept talking. 
“Well, Tchaikovisky did the same, ye ken. It’s incredible, aye, after all “a man who does not feed his dreams, grows old soon.” – he quotes Skakespeare, while kept analyzing her ballerina foot, squeezing in all the right places and, inevitably, pulling little noises from Claire, now. Jamie heard and almost interrupted his work, but with a Herculeous Effort, he kept doing his analysis. 
“Oh, a trauma surgeon and a Skakespeare reader... You really are a MacDreamy.” — she drawled her words exactly as he found the hurt bone, letting a really loud noise came out of her mouth. 
He tried, really really tried, but he could not help the feelings grownt in his veins, driving him near to edge of madness. It’s not right, in many ways. He could not rocognize himself, jamie thinks, but he never felt like that way before. He never felt this “longing alive”, this fever that he feels when he touches her. It makes him wants to build bridges between his aorta and core, just to see her spend dancing with her soft ballet shoes. 
He took a deep breath, mentally. And play on doctor-mood again. 
“It's not broken as ye ken, but my advice is keep it quiet for a moment, letting it rest.” — she nodded. 
“But I have to go back to the stage soon...” 
“Look, Claire,” — her name slipped out of his mouth, subtlety in his hoarse voice and accent, as if he had did it many time before. 
He chokes her words, now. His voice saying her name was like a melodic song. Or a whisper in a silence night. 
“I ken ye have to do it, but I bet for The Cross Of My Lord Jesus Christ, that this foot is hurtin’ as hell. So, ye can stay here. Resting. Or tryin’ go back and have me in that stage huntin’ ye and catchin' ye.” — he said, firmly but still softly. — Ye does not seem so heavy...” — she stared at him, hiding her surprise. 
“Och, ye..” — she imitates, badly but reallly funny tentative, mooching. — “... will catch me?” — he nod, with a guttural noise from his throat and a wild look. She knew he was playing a character in that little scene she was building but she could not help the healed wave increasing in her core. “I would like to see you try it.” — she smiles, malicious, leaning foward in the chair to be closer to him. 
“Och, Sassenach, dae not test me...” — he leans his head to her while she decided to touch his face, stroking his facial redhair.
“Why not?” — she asks, closer to his face. Her nose touching his. Her eyes just few cents to his. 
“Ye ken what people say... play with fire and ye will get burned.” — he squeezed their noses a little bit until she leaned back, running, just to come closer again, back to the same position, giggling. 
“‘One fire burns out another’s burning.’”— she smiles, sassy, as he dragged his nose across her face. — “And I never give a damn for other’s people opinion.”  
“Good tae hear that.” — he says, looking at her in the eyes. So close that he could feel her breathing against his own mouth. He approached his lips of hers and she leaned back again. 
“Cheeky.” — he winks. 
She smiled and, holding his face between her two hands, looking at him in his blue eyes with undrilled  burning fire in her pupil. 
“I don’t even know your name, MacDreamy.” — he laughed. 
“Och, lass...” — he does a little reverence, still on his knees. — “James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser, at your service, ma’am.” — she nodded. 
“Claire Elizabeth Beauchamp.” — she introduces herself, properly now. 
“Fits well, mo chride... Claire Elizabeth.” — he touchs his lips in his chin. — “Now, ye will have me?”  — he whispers in Claire's lips. 
“Yeah, I will have you.” 
And then, without any word, they shocked their lips. 
And the world tumbled down. 
The overpowering wind he was waiting to dragged him at his windows finally came and was overwhelming. 
Her lips is his, her hands in his face...  but could be in his shoulders, arms,  chest or neck... he could not say rightly because she was in everywhere. He felt her in all the places of his body, like she had absorbed him, entirely, just to burn Jamie with her fiery waves.  
He was tightening up her neck to bring her closer to him, as if it was possible... and her hair... it already was a completely mess. But they kept kissing. Claire’s lips were meant to be his. And Jamie’s tongue was created to fit inside her mouth. They were puzzles, made for each other. 
They kissed like there was no tomorrow, because maybe, really would not have it. But they took their moment and took advantage of their time together. Kissing and kissing until the air is needed.
At the end, it was a kiss of swans. Elegant, but ardent. And the premise of an unknown “forever”.  
“Wow.” — she said, first. Her forehead in his, both nears to edge of the unexplored passion. 
“Yes, wow.” — he can say, between his hard breaths. 
“Just-” — she strokes his face. “Wow.” — Claire says again.  
“Shaoil ​​mi gum biodh mo chridhe a ’spreadhadh, mo nighean dhonn.”
She lay her head on his shoulders for a moment. 
“What did you say?” 
“I just though my heart was going to burst.” — he explains.  She giggles, stroking her nose against his chin and cheek. 
“Don’t you want to escape?” — she whispers in his ears. 
“And the ballet...?”  — he asks, dizzy. 
“My doctor said to rest my foot very well... and I have a surrogate.” — he laughed. 
“Now, I’m yeur doctor?” — Jamie provokes. 
“Yeaahh.” — she drawled it. — “And I’m going put this foot on the floor now...” — she provokes, her voice going down a few tones. — “And I will start running away from here. Will you join me or-“ — she bites his ear lobe. — “-will you stay here, all alone in this sad room?” 
He roared, softly. 
“You are such a vixen.” 
She gets up from the chair and starts to run to the exit door. 
“Come find me.” 
God knows he would go.

wesper fanfic!
Author’s note: I have read so many fanfics in which Wylan feels different from Jesper’s world and lifestyle, somehow out of place and he’s sad about it, but since I always want to see things from other perspectives I want to write something in which Jesper is the one feeling “wrong” for the way Wylan lives his life. I really hope you’ll like this!
The stage lights shone on the beautiful flautist’s red hair, enlightening his silver flute and isolating him in the only spot of warm light in the entire theatre: the music he played was so full of harmony and peace, it was as if Wylan existed in a parallel world made of his own music and emotions.
The public was lucky enough to be allowed to observe that world from the outside, taking part in it through the celestial notes that Wylan played in the most natural way, almost as if they were an extension of his soul.
Jesper was in a private place, hidden from the rest of the people but from where he could have the best view of his boyfriend: he often mocked him about his “graceful serenades”, but whenever he played on stage he couldn’t help but admire the unique talent the merchling had and fall in love with that music not so many months ago he didn’t even care about.
Jesper smiled. In any other occasion he would have called himself an idiot for that, but now he really couldn’t do anything else but keep that peaceful expression on his face, his chin resting on his hand as he stared at Wylan on stage, his gaze filled with love and admiration.
The magic lasted forever, but it was also so brief: before anyone wanted him to, Wylan played the last notes and he finally smiled, looking at the point where he knew Jesper was and bowing to the whole public who was applauding and cheering him hard. 
Every time the redhead had a concert, the night was so difficult to end: he exited the theatre and almost everyone was waiting him there to see and talk to him. Wylan was so grateful for that, but at the same time he always met Jesper’s eyes among all people and some parts of him wanted nothing but run to him and hug him. However, he was a polite musician and he always stopped to talk with his public.
Jesper looked at Wylan’s blue, shiny eyes with pride: he was so happy everytime after a concert and the sharpshooter would have paid a million kruge to see that expression on him every second of his life. 
“Hey there, boy!” Jesper turned his head to his left and saw a middle aged couple “You are the flautist’s boyfriend, am I right?” asked the man.
“Yes, yes I am” he answered smiling “Did you enjoy the concert? I don’t know much about this world, but I really think he’s the best out there” 
The woman nodded “His music sounds so graceful! I bet he’d play some parts of Tchaikovski’s pieces like no one ever has”
“You’re right, my dear! And what about the concerts by Mozart? He would enchant the public! What do you think, boy?”
“Jesper, you can call me Jesper” said the Zemeni, then smiled, a little embarassed “I... actually, as I said before I really don’t know much about this musical world, but... well, I think Wylan would be amazing in any occasion...?”
Jesper couldn’t quite decipher the gaze the couple exchanged: they looked... disappointed in his answer, but what could he do about it? He had just been honest. Luckily, Wylan finally came and he didn’t have to think about it anymore. 
“Jes!” Wylan called with a huge smile on his lips, throwing his arms around his waist. The sharpshooter released a breath and hugged him back “You were a Saint up there” he said. 
The redhead hugged him harder, but then he felt a hand tap his shoulder and he turned his head, meeting the old man’s gaze. He smiled politely “Good evening, sir!”
The couple started talking with Wylan about the same topic they tried to discuss with Jesper, but this time they found someone who understood everything they said and the chat became more and more interesting to Wylan, more and more uncomfortable to Jesper.
He was there, trying to follow the conversation, but he got lost among weird composer’s names and numbers of concerts and operas. He could see how Wylan was loving all of that and how he was feeling comfortable, and suddenly he felt wrong. 
Music was one of Wylan’s greatest passions and what did he know about it? Bach and Mozart were names he had only heard, “Cage” was a place to be imprisoned in, “Chopin” was a funny word similar to what you did when you went to the mall. He knew absolutely nothing about it. He knew nothing about one of the most important things to his boyfriend. 
After minutes which felt like eras for Jesper, Wylan took leave of the couple and grabbed Jesper’s hand, smiling as usual “Shall we go home?”
Jesper tried to smile back, but he couldn’t. He just nodded and started walking. Their way back home was not long, but it passed in silence, Wylan thinking about the night and Jesper about how everything about himself felt wrong. Sometimes Wylan looked over the sharpshooter: he was silent and that was something to worry about, but he had no idea about what was going on in his head and he said nothing until they arrived home.
Without a word, Jesper placed a kiss on Wylan’s head and immediately reached for their bedroom, throwing himself on the bed and staring at the ceiling, his head almost in pain for his thoughts. 
About fifteen minutes later, the merchling entered the room with a smoking cup in his hand, reached the bed and sit next to Jesper’s body, looking at him. He knew he was sad or worried about something: those were the only - rare - occasions in which the Zemeni didn’t speak, even though Wylan was sure his head was screaming. Anyways, he knew in those occasions Jesper loved to dissolve his thoughts in a cup of hot cocoa, so that was exactly what he had prepared for him as soon as they got home. 
“Hey there” he said softly, placing a hand on Jesper’s shoulder “Take this”
The sharpshooter gave him a weak smile and took the cup in his hand: he sit against the wall in order to be able to drink it better. Still, he didn’t say a word.
“What’s wrong?” Wylan asked, now a little worried. Usually after the first sip of cocoa the sharpshooter started talking, but now he was silent and the redhead was silently panicking. Had he done something wrong? It wouldn’t be the first time, after all he was not perfect, in fact he was the exact opposite of perfection.
“Ioneserveu”
Wylan didn’t understand what Jesper said as he murmured with such low voice, his eyes fixed on the cocoa. 
“What? What is it?” 
The sharpshooter released a long breath and he finally looked up at his boyfriend: meeting his beautiful blue eyes made him feel even worse.
“I don’t deserve you” he said with a painful smile. 
Wylan felt a shot straight to his heart: the gray eyes that were looking at him were a storm, they were troubled, they were honest. 
“What the fuck are you saying, Jesper?” 
“There, I got you saying the f-word” 
“Stop joking. What does I don’t deserve you mean?”
“It’s a very simple Kerch sentence. I don’t feel like I’m enough for you and I don’t think I actually am”
Wylan took Jesper’s hand in his and talked with broken voice “But why? We’ve been together for almost a year now, Jes. Where is this coming from?”
Jesper huffed, he was not comfortable with that talk. He wanted to tell Wylan how he was feeling, but he wasn’t good at dealing with emotions; moreover, what if his boyfriend hadn’t noticed his differences yet? What if he was the one to point them out to him and ruin their relationship forever?
“I feel like I’m wasting your time here. These months were amazing for me, but for you? Tonight I saw how your eyes shine when you talk about music and all those composers, and I see that same joy when you explain to me your impossible equations or the way you build bombs, and I smile and I nod because I know how much that stuff means to you, but I don’t understand anything and- how long can this last? How long before you get tired of-” 
Jesper suddenly stopped: he couldn’t finish the sentence. If he said that last word out loud, the whole feeling would become real and he really didn’t want to burst into tears in front of Wylan. 
...me? How long before you get tired of me?
The sharpshooter found himself in a whole new situation: in seventeen years of life he never once thought anybody could get tired of him, he did his best to be as energetic as possible and people loved being around him. But Wylan was no ordinary boy: he was so special and he didn’t deserve someone as ordinary as Jesper felt. 
He stared at his merchling, looking for an answer he wasn’t sure he wanted to hear: but Wylan was smiling softly at him, not a sign of concern on his pale face. He got nearer to the sharpshooter and he kissed him, slowly dragging his body down with his. They were now laying next to each other, Wylan had for the first time ever Jesper’s head resting on his chest - it was always the opposite as their heights were clearly different. 
After kissing Jesper on his head, Wylan spoke in a whisper “Are you happy with me, Jes?” 
The sharpshooter was enjoing being cuddled by his boyfriend, he had calmed down a little, but he still felt like he didn’t deserve all those attentions.
“Yes Wy, I am happy. I am so happy. And because of that I’m afraid I’ll screw everything up”
“You want to know why I fell in love with you in the first place?” 
Jesper grinned “Not if then you’re going to dump me because I’ve ruined everything”
Wylan gently slapped him on the neck “I would never want to be without you, you idiot” 
“Fine then” Jesper allowed, his heart beating faster for what his boyfriend just said.
Before talking, Wylan started caressing Jesper’s dark hair “I have built bombs and explosives in my life, Jesper. And I know a lot of things about chemistry. When I met you, I felt like everything I knew about explosions was nothing compared to you. You are a living bomb, and I’m saying it with a positive meaning: you are like a constant explosion of energy, you don’t just burst once, you keep on doing it and that is the exact energy I didn’t know I needed in my life. You have no scientific explanation and I love it”
Jesper breathed heavily and Wylan thought the was holding back tears: he took his chin in his hand and he lifted his head, looking into his eyes just to find out they were actually wet. The redhead smiled at him.
“I don’t care if you don’t know things about music or maths or anything else, one boring nerd is enough in a coulple, don’t you think?” 
Jesper laughed “You’re my favourite nerd, you know”
“I should hope so! Anyways, I asked you whether you’re happy with me and there’s a reason for that: when we got togther, I had the same worries about myself. You were a charming, extroverted thief and I didn’t feel like I could fit in your world. But then one day you hugged me and I thought I feel like I fit in these arms. I understood I was happy with you, and to me that was enough. If you’re happy with me as well, then we don’t have to worry about anything else”
“Saints, you really are a poet, Van Sunshine” said Jesper with a grin, but before Wylan could reply he reached for his lips and he kissed him for long, silently thanking him for everything he said, for everything he gave him not just in that moment, but every day since they met. 
Maybe their worlds were different, but while kissing and hugging and looking for more, Wylan and Jesper couldn’t help but notice how perfect they were for each other: their lips matched, their hands coincided perfectly, their bodies completed each other. 
They were happy together and they loved each other. 
And yes, that was far more than enough.

get in we’re pondering / extrapolating some pt lore (there’s a tl;dr paragraph at the very end ;w;)
often musing about the overarching Theme/s in the series where there's like, these axes of, hope vs despair, self sacrifice (often to protect others) vs being protected by others (often to prevent self sacrifice), and i was thinking about how those protective self sacrifices (which often generally contain some aspect of hope And despair, the former in that someone is taking an action in the hopes of protecting someone, the latter in that they don't have any hope of any less (potentially) self destructive course to pursue to achieve that, or else they'd be doing that instead) do succeed at least in part. we don't really know what's going on with tutu in the story besides disappearing / turning into a point of light, but she exists outside of the story too and manifests in ways clearly associated with hope, & i think we can infer that her appearance/disappearance in the story did have this effect for mytho in giving him hope b/c like, how can it be a coincidence that the heart shard of Hope happens to be the one used to let someone become tutu, or that mytho was able to feel hope prior to technically have the capacity for it when thinking about her and then recognize as much in retrospect. and mytho himself sacrifices his own heart to protect everyone from the raven, rue sacrificing herself saves mytho from the raven in turn, and what i'm getting around to is that i was thinking about how sacrifices are never in vain, except for the knight's, but then i was like, well hey, what if because the rules of this story do seem to Always Reward tragic self sacrifices (surely at least in part to Incentivize it from the characters, b/c the sacrifices made wholly out of despair are apparently just people losing their hearts to the raven, f, and characters making sacrifices in the hopes of protecting someone have to actually have that hope at all), maybe the knight's death wasn't really Useless
and maybe it's relevant that the knight presumably wasn't intending to die right then, there's no implication that like, he was pushing the prince out of the way taking a bullet for him, just that the knight meant to attack the raven but didn't even manage to do that and got killed instead. but i think we can suppose that the knight was just always willing to die for the prince and there's this degree of inherent sacrifice in that already, as well as in being so devoted to the prince and protecting him, which the knight must've done plenty of even if, in the moment he was killed, there was no direct achievement in protecting mytho / siegfried / the prince. and i doubt that the way the prince felt about it was actually like "oh my god, useless" rather than that the knight did die For Him, even if mytho wasn't in immediate mortal danger that could've only been thwarted by the knight's death, and even if the knight presumably didn't Know he would die and actually choose that, because of accepting it as his only option to protect mytho. and it's evident throughout the series that characters being Real allows them to act in ways drosselmeyer doesn't predict or hasn't directed them to act or doesn't even necessarily know about, thinking of details like, mytho knowing his name is siegfried doesn't seem to come from any Text of drosselmeyer's in the story, or else people would know the prince has a name besides "the prince," and who knows, maybe drosselmeyer's unwritten hcs are part of the reality of his stories lol, but that's a fun mystery element, and beyond that these characters were all people with full lives and interiority that were not / could not have been written in full detail in the story's text and almost certainly weren't / couldn't have been Thought Out in full by drosselmeyer like that.
and i'm just thinking about how the knight is the only prominent character who outright dies in the unfinished story, aside from various, presumably not individually described/named people in the kingdom being killed by the raven, and possible details not mentioned in the series, like idk, whether or not mytho's parent/s died at some point in the course of the story. tutu's disappearance is too ambiguously magical to really call it a death, although it's a Tragic Fate intended to write her out of the story, and there's no indication of kraehe / the concept of The Raven's Daughter existing in the story, since in the first season kraehe is really fully standing in for the raven as the main villain / antagonist, with the raven not being shown or mentioned by her until the second season, and fakir just directly referring to kraehe as a crow or raven during that first season, and what with the idea in the second season that rue was just some random person the raven stole and presumably made up the concept of there being a [the raven's daughter] role. 
(even though when kraehe appears in season one it's clearly a swan lake / odile thing, and i guess you could conceivably wonder like "hey, is she the daughter of some rothbart equivalent here. like the story raven as the primary antagonist"....that's all Meta beyond the series's metatextual layers and, since idk, characters know of these other classic ballets, i guess it's possible swan lake as a ballet exists too. nobody's mentioning anything though lol. now i'm like.....okay so another tchaikovsky composed ballet was relevant / known in the sleeping beauty episode, where electricity was also a thing people were aware existed, if rare, not sure when this series was set but late 19th century seems plausible enough and swan lake wasn't immediately popular so maybe it exists but is too niche lore for these characters to be familiar with it lmao.....but then i'm like wait hang on. what if it must be after 1892 because the dance of the sugarplum fairy playing when ahiru walks in on mytho practicing seems to be diagetic. and then i'm like, nijinksy was only born in 1890, and didn't perform afternoon of a faun until 1912, and that seems just a little late, although at the same time everyone's existing in a fairy tale town and it could feasibly be any point in time outside of that. this tangent is going on way too long and my Real Conclusion of course is that we're not really meant to match up any timeline with the In Real Life timelines of when ballets premiered and became popular / established as Classics)
back to the point: out of the four main roles, tutu magically and mysteriously disappeared but didn't outright die the way that the human knight was definitely killed, and the duck who is given her powers / role is apparently truly just some random duck who happened to care for mytho (thinking about his apparent affinity for birds and theirs for him), kraehe was probably not a part of the story at all as the daughter of the raven and rue is apparently just some random baby who was kidnapped, mytho didn't die because he's the same self he was from the story, uninterrupted, and the knight did die, and fakir is just some kid but is also apparently identified as the reincarnation of that knight. and, whether or not that's just some coincidence or meant to be true, it's true for all intents and purposes since fakir found mytho and chose to devote himself to protecting him and is aware of / thinks of himself as the knight, and if the raven and drosselmeyer could've picked some random babies and ducks to have roles in the story, it shouldn't actually be a detriment to fakir if he's actually also just some guy who chose to be the knight rather than also actually already that knight reincarnated. the roles of both tutu and lohengrin are supposed to be intrinsically limited by their same roles as written in the story, where clearly drosselmeyer, wanting conflict and drama and peak effective tragedy, and kraehe / the raven as antagonists to these two, expect and want tutu to willingly vanish again and the knight to wield his sword and, at some point here, die. which, in season one, it seems likely enough that although fakir wasn't exactly instantly torn apart by the raven attack that Got him, he would've died if not for edel's intervention altering the story. anyway, assuming the roles comes from Choosing it / being willing to accept it and having some sort of magical artifact access out here, ahiru having a heart shard, rue having...raven blood and the fact that there's also the like, actual ravens out there who are Also magic b/c they're doing evil stuff, and turning into cursed pointe shoes and attacking canaries so the prince might jump out a window to save one, and fakir having magic swords. as well as, you know, the prince, the most magic artifact of all, truly
i'm kind of losing the point there lmfao just getting into details in a tangent. what i was trying to point out is that yeah, the knight's the only one of the four main roles who was clearly, officially, violently killed in the story. and then i was thinking about how, as far as i can think, it kind of comes totally out of nowhere in season two that like, oh hey, also fakir is a descendent of drosselmeyer's and i guess has that same magic writing ability. not that i think these season two framework shifts like That, or like kraehe being the daughter of the raven instead of just directly standing in for the raven as a concept and character, or like "oh right and also i'd poisoned mytho back in the season one finale" weren't possibly in mind the whole time, Or that if they weren't that's a problem, Or that either way, they needed to be foreshadowed / set up Textually in season one or anything, since you do need to change things up for there to Be a season two that doesn't have to retread the conflicts in the same way, and that's what these shifts allow for. it's still just that the effect is like, oh damn, fakir isn't just The Knight from the story reincarnated, he ALSO happens to have drosselmeyer's magic powers b/c they're related??? wow what a coincidence, that's so lucky for him in affording him Magic Powers that don't come from the story b/c if he wields the power of being the knight he Has to inevitably die, and while the power to write reality is clearly dangerous and Could kill him (or others), there's at least a chance, whereas it seems like otherwise, if you're accessing the powers that come with having a role from the story, you either have to accept the same fate as in the story, someone with the power of those who guide the story, e.g. edel, must externally alter its course, or you have to give up the role and its powers, like ahiru ultimately did by giving up the final piece of mytho's heart, and fakir did by no longer trying to be the knight and instead protecting everyone by figuring out how to wield his power to Write.
so then basically my thought was, hey, maybe it's Not *just* a coincidence that fakir's Also drosselmeyer's descendent. in the same way that it's not Just a coincidence that the original tutu, having made this sacrifice in the story, is somehow, in part or in whole, attached to the prince's feeling of hope, and able to manifest even once that piece of the prince's heart has been returned and ahiru no longer "officially" has access to tutu's role and power (whether that power is gone b/c her powers were all about returning the prince's heart shards or because the powers she had were the prince's, because of having a piece of his heart). there's already these parallels between the roles of this tragic princess and the knight, both fated to disappear and die, respectively, and the story rewards these noble sacrifices even as it demands them b/c the author loves tragedy, b/c drosselmeyer's also trying to work within some conventions here to have a cohesive story and to allow enough hope in the story to motivate the characters and give everything enough stakes to really be effectively tragic (although he was also apparently writing characters who'd appear and then forever disappear on the same page, so. all to a degree lol). and yet the story and the people in it can also operate outside of drosselmeyer's Intent and Control and even knowledge of what all is a factor in everything going on, because that's part of his power, the stories and their characters become people who are real in the same way that people not from the story are real, and there's elements of who they were and are and can be that drosselmeyer didn't write. rue wasn't meant to sacrifice herself, edel / uzura wasn't meant to help the characters avoid tragedy, ahiru was meant to be powerless as a duck (and a regular girl), fakir was meant to be powerless or die, tbh mytho was probably meant to prevail in the end but also maybe drosselmeyer wouldn't've minded if the raven won And Also definitely wouldn't've minded if mytho going "well fuck this, i'll take out my heart again, regain it, kill you that time, then also kill myself" had been seen through which would've been decidedly ultimately tragic even if the prince also "won," and/or if the prince just kept getting stuck in these stalemates and having to shatter & regain his heart in an eternal loop (thinking of how mytho sure managed to like, phase Inside the raven magically via giant swan made of light (see: my theory that although that's very [tutu] visuals, tutu is also kinda Hope Embodied in this series, and we don't quite know whether original tutu's magic powers were different from the prince's magic abilities, or how, and i like to believe that mytho Can also manifest as a giant swan made of light) which was apparently only an option after he not only regained the capacity to feel hope but kinda had an actual feeling of hope kickstarted by ahiru, who's been and continues tapping into tutu's power as being so associated with / tied to Hope as a concept in general, so he presumably couldn't've done that move otherwise).
SO we're really meandering around here, by which i mean that i am, but so it goes. my point is!!! with All That in mind, and again reiterating how i opened that last paragraph before getting a little off track as always, i was thinking that it might not be Just A Coincidence that fakir is both the reincarnation of the knight / takes on the role of the knight, AND has drosselmeyer's magic writing powers in this completely separate matter of genealogy. (also, i'm sorry, but total tangent again: i'm not 100% on the timeline of things, but i'm like, okay, the raven comes into the real world, and the prince follows it, and then we know that this real world town had like, these killer raven attacks that could disappear an infant or kill a kid's parents. and i think we can suppose that rue and fakir happen to be pretty much the same age, and rue was kidnapped as a baby, so the raven was definitely around then, and fakir's parents were killed when he was like, a young kid but definitely not a baby or even a toddler, and rue was also running around and able to dance and only knew herself as kraehe until meeting mytho and wanting to give herself another name as just a human. so like....i'm bad at estimating ages but like, what, they're at least 5 when they meet mytho? maybe more like 6 or 7. the point is, so there were raven attacks for actual Years before the prince shattered his heart? and maybe mytho was fighting the raven in that perpetual stalemate for all those years, but probably he would've aged those several years if he existed outside the story's [Paused In Time] situation but still had his heart, since it's presumably his having Lost his heart that means he has no pulse and doesn't age and, you know, has lost his memories and emotions. and if we say it was like, at least 4 years or something, and mytho's like, ambiguously sort of Older Teen, say 16 or 17, idk (he's a baby still ;m; but also a fairytale prince, so) and you supposed he aged while out of the story And that he was out of the story and fighting the raven those several years before giving up his heart, that'd mean that when the book left off, he was locked in this deadly battle for the kingdom with the main villain as like, circa 11 years old or what have you. not outside the realm of fiction or fairytales, but still....but more so than that, idk, you'd think if there was this magic storybook prince around fighting the raven/s for years, full hearted and thus with his memories / sense of self intact, people would've been as aware of his presence as that of these killer ravens, and like, actually know who he is, as siegfried, and prior to there being this guy, mytho, who only fakir and co. and rue, out of anyone else in town, realize is actually this prince from a story that exists as a storybook in their world. which, i Guess it's possible that mytho was around outside the story for years before shattering his heart to seal the raven away, but also, seems like maybe instead it was years before he followed the raven out of the story and then once he did he pretty much immediately sacrificed his heart? not that the All Realities Narrator mentions a gap between the raven escaping the story and the prince chasing after it, but a) they also didn't specifically say that this didn't happen and b) maybe it was just some like, issue of jumping between dimensions basically, i.e. from the perspective of mytho in the story he did follow the raven out immediately, only to find that from the perspective of this other world, the raven had been an issue for years and c) maybe this difference in time was so that mytho would be dropped into more of an equivalent situation as he was in back in the story, where the raven had Also already been a problem for years in that story's universe, before the point where drosselmeyer has died and the story is left off unfinished. so here's mytho now entering this other reality, where even though he himself has just shown up after having battling the raven for years In Story (and then in stasis because the story was not able to progress in its own world), and is having to choose to protect these people who have not Just been introduced to the raven's attacks, but have been dealing with it for years as something that can and has killed people, just as was the case with the townspeople back in the world of the story.)
okay i apologize to the readers and to myself, no more tangents: what if!!!! it's not a fortunate coincidence that fakir has access to the powers of the separate roles of "the knight from the story" and "drosselmeyer's descendent in this world"!!!! What If!!!!!!!!! the knight's death, rather than being truly "useless," actually still counted as a sacrifice made in the hope of protecting others, and was thusly rewarded with some form of success, as other such sacrifices are rewarded both in the story of prinz und rabe, but also in the overall story of this series, aka princess tutu, although clearly in the end the Happy Ending comes from not only these sacrifices but the characters all protecting each other so that these ultimate self sacrifices don't need to be made (thinking of how often characters talk about wanting to protect each other, fakir being motivated to try Writing again after realizing all these other characters are doing their best to protect him, mytho saying he won't Give Up Again to ahiru (also tutu....just standing here staring at the wall like blair witch style that he never seems to have known that the duck was not only the version of tutu he'd been encountering but also ahiru who he was like "hey bestie :)" to in ep 14 before getting ko'd and never knowingly talking to her again haha scream that's just. that's fine!!! anyway rue could tell him but then again like, a little late. UNLESS they can just come back and visit?? i have some sense that there might have once been plans to make a season three for the series if possible way back in the day, yknow, when said series was being released, but i only "remember" this from Maybe someone's post from that 15th anniversary event and maybe, jonathan frakes voice, it never happened) referring to his intent to sacrifice his heart again as being that "giving up"......THE POINT BEING. maybe the knight's death was a sacrifice, and according the role that such sacrifices have, that sacrifice had some positive, helpful, protecting effect, and in this case, it was that the knight's reincarnation had these Other powers as well beyond the knight's role in the story, so that this knight could do more but protect mytho some but ultimately die in the effort with that death Supposedly being for nothing, aka the fact that fakir is related to drosselmeyer is thanks to lohengrin sacrificing himself to protect mytho, even if the circumstances of his death did not appear to, and were not intended by drosselmeyer to, have any direct benefit for anyone. did the knight somehow have conscious influence over his own reincarnation, or was it more like, these superhuman forces Rewarding the sacrifice / affording the knight this new chance at fate? could be either i guess!! (and was fakir born when the raven entered that world, or prior? he was as old as he was when he met mytho, had mytho Just shown up or did he really arrive just after the raven and had been fighting all the time and it's just that, for whatever reason, nobody else knew he was there? or they did, but once the raven was sealed away, maybe other people Forgot what had happened prior too, re: the prince and the Monster Raven anyways? since while people had known about the like, regular bird form ravens who killed people, nobody mentioned the big german abstract expressionism sky blocking raven who ate hearts.....and not like there wasn't people dying back in the story despite the prince's efforts (though that was related as well to like, people Definitely knowing the prince existed, and Despairing b/c he was so epic, actually) i don't know, it could be Either Way, i'm just wondering like, was fakir born prior to a character from The Story entering that world, or after? i feel like Maybe some timeline details might've been mentioned re: when the ravens showed up, but i don't remember. although i guess it's not impossible re: this theory that he was born beforehand but is still definitely the knight, and as i type this, i remember the whole "he's always had the birthmarks that identified him as the reincarnation of the knight" element, so it's Already True that whenever he was born, that was the case, aaand also i'm remembering that lohengrin died before where the story left off, and in that story's universe, idk, maybe years passed....and i Just was talking about how maybe the timelines / passage of time are not parallel and Aligned 1:1 between worlds here, so. point is! however it shakes out, lohengrin died for all intents and purposes Before fakir was born, who Is the knight whether or not he's really lohengrin's reincarnation, which he Could be, because lohengrin Was a human who Did die. so!!!!! (it's 6am....i've been writing this for hours lol. i prommy my thoughts would've been a Little more in order otherwise. possibly)
TL;DR: what if, rather than the knight's death being "useless" and his failing to protect the prince through being killed, it still counted as a sacrifice to protect mytho, and when you consider how this Theme of sacrifice is handled throughout the series, it would be in line with everything else if this sacrifice was rewarded even if the text of prinz und rabe / drosselmeyer did not consider this / recognize this to be a "successful" act of self sacrifice to protect the prince, and that reward was the knight's reincarnation Also being a descendent of drosselmeyer with a power that would allow him to protect people without being held to the knight's fate of being killed, rather than it being a complete unrelated coincidence that fakir is the knight And a person who just so happens to have the ability to write reality, thanks to being in the same family as drosselmeyer. what if lohengrin's sacrifice let him escape his own fate down the line and this time "successfully" protect the prince without having to die before the story finishes! it wouldn't change anything in the story as we know it and i think it'd be Thematically Resonant.

fantasia (noun):  a work (such as a poem, play, or work of music) in which the author or composer’s fancy roves unrestricted
Cas is having one of those days. 
He sleeps in more than usual, and getting up, he tells Dean, is heavy. After barely touching his breakfast, he retires to the Deancave, on the couch that they recently dragged in, and burrows himself under a mountain of blankets, turning on some procedural crime drama on low volume. 
Dean knows that the transition to being human hasn’t been easy, and that it’s not unusual for Cas to sink into depression. Dean’s no stranger to that, although it’s only recently that he’s started talking about. 
It’s his day to get groceries, so he left Cas with a gentle kiss to the forehead, and now Dean is standing in front of the check-out with a cart full of all the stuff it takes to feed four adults and one nephilim. He spies a salted caramel dark chocolate bar and slides it in with the rest of the food at the last minute. Cas might like it--he’s a little particular about his sweets, but if they’ve got a little bite, like dark chocolate, he usually enjoys them. 
When Dean returns to the bunker and traipses down to the Deancave after stowing the rest of the groceries, he finds that Cas hasn’t moved on the couch, but what’s on the television is different. 
Orchestral music swells from the television’s speakers, and colorful illustrations work their way across the screen, yellow and red squiggles chasing each other as the music swells. Then, the animation changes to a series of rolling pink and purple mountains against a blue sky. Dean walks around the couch and deposits himself next to Cas as orange, futuristic buildings replace the hills against the sky. Cas moves over an incremental amount to allow Dean to lie down, and Dean holds up the chocolate bar between them. 
“Got this for you,” he says. 
“Thank you.” Cas’s voice sounds thick from disuse. Dean sets about to unwrapping the chocolate as the music on the television fades out, only to be replaced by a man’s voice. 
“You know, it’s funny how wrong an artist can be about their own work,” the man starts, and then he goes on to talk about Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite. The music fades back in, and Dean vaguely recognizes it this time. 
“He’s right,” Cas says. 
“About...?” Dean raises an eyebrow, breaks off a piece of chocolate and hands it to Cas, who slowly accepts it. 
“Artists being wrong.” Cas takes a bite, smiles a little bit. “This is quite good. I was...created to be a host of Heaven, a soldier, a rule-follower.”
“But you’re not,” Dean says in a slightly teasing tone before taking a bite of the chocolate himself. The music from whatever is playing swells. Cas is right--this is good. 
“Because I was made broken.” Cas sighs. “You heard Chuck--I have a crack in my chassis. I never listen to orders. He was wrong about me.”
“Nah.” Dean finds Cas’s hand that isn’t occupied with chocolate and takes it in his own. “That crack was a good thing. Didn’t he also say that this was the only universe where you were like that? You saved the day.”
“I tried,” Cas says. His eyes focus on the television screen. “I like this.” “What is it, anyways?” Dean rolls over so he’s not facing Cas anymore, instead tucked up against him like they’re spooning. The screen has dancing mushrooms on it.
“Disney’s Fantasia. Animated classical music. It seemed nice.” Cas pauses. “It’s very soothing.”
“That’s good.”
They watch all of Fantasia together--the dancing mushrooms fade away, and then there's Mickey Mouse with a magical broom flooding a sorcerer’s workshop, and centaurs, and pegasi, and more colors and music. Cas skips lunch but does eat dinner, and he lets Dean prod him into the shower. 
As they drift off to sleep at the end of the day, Cas soft and pliable, tucked against him, Dean knows that he will gladly spend the rest of his life telling Cas that they are all broken in some way--but that they’re also all better for it.

It used to be my room, 100%, wouldn’t work anywhere else but that was when studying meant learning by heart, so now that I have some actual research and stuff to do and I apparently can’t get ANYTHING done when at home I’d say the 2nd floor of the INHA library... it feels so special and secret and magical !
leather: favorite book(s)? what makes them special?
Favorite and very special books are the Pierre Bottero serie “Ellana”, they left such an impression on the child I was haha, I cherish their story, their universe, their characters...!
canvas: is there any work of art that resonates with you? why?
I hate u :’)
It’s hard to chose but honestly Chardin’s paintings get me everytime. I knoooow they have “nothing special” at first sight but they’ve always made me feel something I cannot describe with words... It’s like it’s not those big paintings with epic actions and History that make you go “waow impressive” but it’s taking you by its sense of truth, idk the atmosphere, the games of textures and colors... It’s so real and surreal at the same time... Like ordinary life, but with a veil of... I don’t know nostalgia I think ? Like a memory in a way. A very small detail you would pass by without noticing but once it became a memory, or once a memory is attached to it, you notice it, and it has this special kind of glow to your eyes... Anyway Chardin was the best to turn everyday life into a work of art and that is truly inspiring and special and ahhh i love it. It’s probably why I also love Manet so much, but I’m particularly fond of his less known paintings, his still lifes, just look at the pictures below it makes me feel very emotional (yes it’s just a lemon im aware of that)

1. Name four fictional characters that showcase your personality the best, with explanations if you want: 
Kat Stratford (10 Things I Hate About You), Jonah Simms (Superstore), Belle (Beauty and The Beast) and Chandler Bing (Friends). I just think I relate to them because I don’t follow banal social norms, I’m a little nerd, I love to read, I want to know the world and leave my mark on it and I’m also a very sarcastic person... I don’t know if that’s a good explanation, but this is it lol.
2. Favourite musical/play? 
I would love to see The Nutcracker one day, whether as a theater or ballet production. I’m completely fascinated by its aesthetic and it is also my favorite piece of Tchaikovsky’s work.
3. What is the best compliment you’ve ever received?
Anything that is about my creativity, intellect or the type of friend I am. I think the best compliments are about what you have to offer for people around you and the world.
4. Embarrassing story or fact about yourself that makes you laugh now?
Gosh, I can’t remember any right now. It’s been a while since I’ve embarrassed myself. 🙈
5. Favourite Disney or Pixar Movie?
I can’t just say one, so here comes a list in no specific order: Brother Bear, Aladdin, Beauty and The Beast, The Lion King, Mulan, Coco, The Fox and The Hound, Finding Nemo, Lilo & Stitch, Tangled, Frozen, Monsters Inc., The Good Dinosaur, Zootopia, A Bug’s Life, Ratatouille and The Tinker Bell movies. I feel like Inside Out would easily get into my list since everybody speaks so high of it, but I still have to watch this one 🙈  
6. Favourite flower or plant?
Dandelion and wisteria.
7. What’s your favourite holiday? 
Christmas! I just feel like is such a warm and magical time of the year and I’m obsessed with Christmas lights and decoration.
8. Name three things that made you laugh or smile this week:
My niece, friends and dogs.
9. What song would you play to introduce yourself to someone?
I don’t know. I think something that can describe me is that moment Belle sings about wanting more than a provincial wife at the beginning of Beauty and The Beast. I believe we have that hunger to go to different places, meet different people and new experiences.
10. Name something that truly makes you feel peaceful even at your most stressed moments.
Music and writing.
11. What do you, did you, or would you study in college?
I was studying Journalism, but I changed to Psychology.
12. This is kind of a weird one, but which outfit of yours makes you feel most like yourself?
When it comes to clothes I have a pretty eclectic style, but the two outfits I love the most are a white dress I have that has an elastic top and with a braid and subtle medieval influences. The other is over-knee-length navy blue dress, with small and sparkling rhombus on it that just makes it look like a starred sky. I’m obsessed with medieval trends, the night sky and lights and I know it’s ridiculous they sort of magical to me and I feel special when I wear them.
13. What is a quote you live by:
“Stand up for what you believe in, even if it means standing alone.”
14. Name the funniest playlist name you have.
None? I guess I’m not that funny lol.
15. Make a reference to an inside joke you have with someone you love with zero context.
Frog.
16. What is a message you would give your younger self if given the chance?
Probably to put myself first and get out of my shell a little bit more.
17. Who is your favourite family member? 
My niece.
18. What’s a secret dream of yours?
I don’t like sharing secrets, soon there will be other posts on my first page and people won’t see it anyway... I want to be a singer.
19. Aesthetic:
I added pictures because I’m not very good with descriptions, but I love outdoor spaces, I love European, Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern landscapes, ancient sites, houses with old architecture, light colors and flowers in the decoration. Or stoned, medieval architecture and colorful Gothic decoration. I love the Rayonnant style. I love mythological creatures and I’m mostly obsessed with fairies, gnomes and elves. I love stained glasses, colors, Christmas and its decoration, flowers, fireflies, night skies and fairy lights. I also love the buzz of large cities. It might be silly, but they all just feel enchanting to me.

The Swan Princess Live-Action Remake Edit Master Post
This is just all of the edits I did of my fan-cast as the characters in the potential live-action remake of The Swan Princess. I LOVE the idea of this being made into a live-action movie, especially if they are willing to makes changes and add some elements from the original ballet (Like Odile and some of Tchaikovsky’s music). But I am also skeptical about it because the animated film is a movie that means A LOT to me. But here’s hoping that it can capture the charm of the original movie and the two hand-drawn animated sequels. Anyway, here are my edits.
