For the meme: 5, 17, 21, 40 and 50 for Mumbleshipping?
Yeeeeeeeeeee thank you so much for asking about my boys!
5. What personality trait do they love the most about each other?
Oh, this is a fun one!
Seto loves how sweet and forgiving Ryou is. It makes no sense for him to be this kind or want to see the good in others, especially after everything he's been through, but he does, and Seto marvels at it a little.
Seto loves Duke's fearlessness. He's intimidated by nobody and nothing, ashamed of almost nothing, and he likes how spunky that makes him. Kaiba is pretty intimidating himself, and he kinda likes that one of his boyfriends is completely immune to it. It makes things very entertaining.
Ryou loves and admires Seto's unstoppable, unyielding willpower. This man is relentless, and Ryou can't relate to that, and he's kind of enchanted by it.
Ryou loves Duke's playfulness and positivity. He's not exactly optimistic, but he's a generally positive person, and it's a huge ray of sunshine in Ryou's life. Ryou is a cat just basking in Duke's presence.
Duke loves Ryou's vivid imagination. Sometimes it runs wild, and his eyes sparkle whenever he's deep into his story/character/scenario, and Duke thinks it's precious.
Duke loves Seto's genius brain and his technical prowess, and especially loves watching him do his inventing thing. The tinkering, the tools, Duke relates to it with his own tinkering.
Generally speaking, Duke loves to watch his boys when they're in the zone.
17. What do they have in common?
They all have a game obsession, and it's a different game for all of them. They all have abusive complicated relationships with their fathers. They all have missing mother figures. They all need to let go of their past so that they can truly move forward in a healthy way towards happiness. They all have a deep passionate side, even if it's not usually the forefront of their personalities.
21. Are they interested in having children? Why or why not?
I think Kaiba has a very complicated relationship with children/the idea of children, but he could be talked into it. There's fear of the repeating abuse cycles (and the past, generally), fear of failure, fear of loss. It's Seto's idea to adopt though, once they've all agreed to having kids, and Ryou agrees immediately. Duke is a bit more attached to the idea of "that's a little piece of me" or "that's a little piece of my beloved" running around; he wants that blood tie to his kid in some form; it's just a subconscious thing for him. He gets talked into adoption though.
40. Who tries to distract the other when they’re trying to do something else?
Duke is guilty of doing this on purpose more than anyone else. He can be needy for attention sometimes, that's just how it goes. Ryou is more likely to be distracting by accident, either just from being in the room and making it impossible for Seto to focus on work because he's just too cute bending over the shelves looking for new books, or Duke's finding it impossible to look at anything but Ryou when he's supposed to be paying attention to making dinner.
50. Who would protect who in a dangerous situation?
Kaiba's fear of loss (and inability to process it) makes him the most overprotective man in the universe. When his family is threatened, he pulls everyone into his mansion and shuts down the property with more security than Nanba Prison. He will not let anyone hurt the ones he loves. He was distracted in the past which led to Mokuba coming to harm a few times, and he's learned from his mistakes. This also means he's a little... controlling. In a dangerous situation though, he's the number one protector.
Duke is also pretty protective in his own right. We've seen him come to his friends' defense before (Serenity, Mai, Rebecca, Tristan), if anybody's in trouble he jumps right in. He's physically protective of Ryou, ofc, but he's also protective of Kaiba and Kaiba's reputation, so that manifests in a way that Ryou and Kaiba don't usually get to see. If anybody's hanging around The Black Clown and starts shit-talking Kaiba, Duke steps out from behind the counter or from his office to have words with them.
Which isn't to say that Ryou wouldn't protect them if he was given the chance, but he's very rarely in the position to do so. But Ryou is probably the most protective of Mokuba. (All the boys are protective of Mokuba, though.)

all hate to tiktok for taking 'having a space to more openly and actively talk about different cultures' to mean 'cultures are NOT to be shared and we must be vigilantly defensive of our cultures for fear of appropriation, a word that can be applied to any multicultural interaction'. like of course cultural appropriation is a very real problem but ive seen with the access to global multicultural conversation that tiktok provides it's made people TERRIFIED to even interact with cultures other than their own for fear of 'doing it wrong'. like at some point you have to acknowledge that in the real world of the great outdoors, the majority of people are eager to SHARE their cultures. yes there are ignorant questions and biases but also... how do you think those things get unlearnt? i dont understand how deciding that multiculturalism is an elephant in the room instead of a normal thing that should just be talked about and lived with is supposed to benefit anyone? and kids on tiktok are CONVINCED that it's a time bomb of a conversation to have and therefore must be avoided at all costs but like. people generally LOVE their home and their culture and are PROUD of it and want to share it. how have we made it so that showing genuine interest and a desire to understand something so integral to a person's identity is now feared and borderline demonised?
#thinking about this a lot lately. thinking about how fun it was comparing cultural differences in america#thinking of how when i was homesick one thing i found a great comfort in was talking about my home#and how it differed and i really loved and appreciated it when people would ask me about england#in a way that they genuinely just wanted to learn about it and not to take the piss#thinking about how the kitchen at work has chefs from all over europe. we have an irish chef and a spanish chef and an italian chef#and one of the kps is from eastern europe (i havent actually been able to find out where yet) etc and the way they banter with each other#like usually chefs are Problematic bc their humour is VERY abrasive and usually offensive#but this is one instance where it's actually to their benefit bc they're so unafraid to ADDRESS THE FACT THEY HAVE DIFFERENT CULTURES#i feel like the tiktok gen are so petrified of even acknowledging other cultures let alone discussing them#that it's actually sending the conversation backwards. like how does hoarding your culture and pretending it's not there benefit anyone#LET ALONE YOU AND THE CULTURE IN QUESTION. idk it just baffles me a bit that something that started as people on tiktok#genuinely spreading information and talking about the BAD side of this where people DO culturally appropriate or invade spaces that arent#theirs has now become 'for fear of speaking bad about it we will not speak about it at all'. and they'll crucify you if you do. like what#even at uni my best mate is indian and she's too scared to join the sikh society on her own so i regularly go to the events with her#and im typically one of the handful (or the only) white non-sikh there and i get SO welcomed each time#like there's such a genuine excitement to share the culture with someone who is effectively a blank slate#and like yeah ill ask 'dumb' questions or i'll have different experiences (tried a samosa for the first time at one of these events#and the moment that info got out i had like five STRANGERS trying to give me different samosas to try and it was genuinely such#a laugh bc yes they were TEASING me bc 'how have you never had one' but they were also really eager to share MORE as a result)#ugh idk what im saying. i just think it's a shame to watch this happen in real time on the internet#when if people would just go outside and actually TALK to people from other cultures they'd realise 9 times out of 10 the interactions#are actually really really nice for BOTH parties. and actually refusing to talk about this stuff is long-term pretty fucking detrimental#and it also goes the other way!!! like imagine if i - citizen of colonisation motherland herself - didn't interact with other cultures#and didnt ask questions or hear their opinions on whatever shared history we have from THEIR POINT OF VIEW#imagine the kind of shit id be internalising bc i only hung out with other white british people. it wouldnt matter if i was doing it#to be woke or 'respect their culture'. it would still be fucking ignorant. like half my interactions with other cultures#see me as the butt of the joke bc of this like aforementioned irish chef at work VOCALLY slates the english all the time#but it's done in an environment where we're FRIENDS and it's poking fun at each other while still addressing a very serious history. like??#idk if any of this is worded in a way that makes sense but yeah. i have thoughts#cant believe i got inspired to make an actually serious post bc of the CHEFS AT WORK. embarrassing. no one let them see this

K but imagine Criston holding a burnt, broken Aegon and being in such a state of panic that he drops all formalities.
No "Your Grace" here, just his boy. Just Aegon.
Anon, you and I have very similar thoughts about this!
In my head it goes a little something like this:
So, it’s near the end of the battle, the dragons and their riders and flying over head as soldiers try to avoid being hit by flames from above.
Criston’s scrambling to figure out some way out of this that doesn’t end up with a huge loss of numbers, and then he hears it. A loud crash as something hits the ground, branches splitting underneath the force of the impact and a crater is made at the site of where the objects violently landed.
All Criston can think about now is seeing what just happened, so he runs as fast he can in the heavy Kingsguard armor until he sees it. He sees Maelys and Rhaenys are dead.
Criston then hears the cries of an injured Sunfyre as Aemond climbs down from atop of Vhagar. They both look over and see a body, Aegon’s body, badly burnt. They rush over to his side as they fear the worst.
“Aegon.” Criston says, trying to get the young man to do or say anything.
But he doesn’t, and Criston and Aemond share sad glances. Aemond starts to tear up as Criston just looks down in shame, it’s not his fault but it still feels that way.
And then, Aegon’s chest rises just a little, as he takes small yet pained breaths. The other two look at each other again, scared but hopeful.
The episode ends with a closeup on Aegon’s face as he breaths again.

The live action Scooby-Doo movies?
I did not see this ask until RIGHT now (first time on desktop since crab day, second time since Nov 5 2020 [which was DOUBLY experience since I got my phone taken the same day]) so I'm going to assume this ask got eaten on mobile because tumblr, HOWEVER you poked a bear with this ask anon (as I'm sure you knew when asking) SO without further ado: my Scooby Doo live action opinions
So when you say 'live action Scooby-Doo movies' I'm assuming you're talking about the James Gunn films, starting with Scooby-Doo (2002) followed by Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, just due to like, generally popularity and also the fact that I have actually seen those films. However shoot another ask if you wanted me to include Curse of the Lake Monster in this (because I will if anyone cares and turn this into a live-action scooby dissertation, i'd just need to like. watch the movie first) But anyways where I'm going with this is that this post is about the Gunn movies aka the ones with SMG, Freddie Prinze Jr., Linda Cardellini, and ofc our #1 man, Matthew Lilliard.
Okay so my take on these movies is... complicated. I wouldn't say it's as complicated as my feelings towards SDMI, because I watched the live actions way less as a kid and generally care less about them, but still no matter how much shit I throw at these two movies there are parts that I generally like (even love) that stops me from totally condemning them wholesale. Like the fact that these movies are FUNNY! There's so many moments from this duology that are just beyond iconic "like, that's one of my favorite names!" the whole thing with Scooby in the dress at the airport, ET. CETERA (like I can go on!)
The Gunn movies are genuinely SO fun and I can 100% see and understand how they've stood so well in the public view as a representation of Scooby. HOWEVER, this is where you start to see my problems with them. For the general American, (because that is the audience I'm familiar with) ESPECIALLY millennials and younger, who happen to make up the majority of both people on this site AND people I talk about Scooby with in real life, these movies, and the elements they introduced as "quintessential scooby tropes" are the base of their understanding of the Scooby franchise, along with likely some miscellaneous WAY episodes and maybe SDMI.
Which is where I get pissed off. In the pushing of the narrative of "breaking away" from the Scooby norm, Gunn basically invents (aka totally makes up) an idea of what classic era Scooby was like, cementing an idea of classic Scooby into the public mind that is totally disingenuous and just straight up false. For example, in attempting to portray Daphne as having taken strides to be seen more seriously in solving mysteries and defending herself, it pushes the narrative that in the classic era she WASN'T taken seriously, and only existed as a damsel-in-distress prop of a character, which is just not true??? Like yes, Daphne is clumsy, that's a part of her character, and her friends (because, fun fact, the gang ARE friends) joke about it sometimes because that's what friends DO. Framing that in some kind of sexist "that's all she does" lens is just total bull, especially as gang members fall into secret passageways/get lost etc. in WAY ALL THE DAMN TIME because that's how the plot functions! Like are we calling Velma ditzy for losing her glasses every other episode? Of course not, and Fred falls into passageways all the time, not to MENTION Shaggy and Scooby and all they get up to. Also one last thing on the topic of Daphne, like this idea of her mystery solving skills not being respected by the gang is just so supremely bullshit it amazes me sometimes, especially when she was the LEADER (or leader adjacent) through pretty much all of her appearances in the 1980s [Not that James Gunn could look at '80s era Scooby without spitting on it, but I digress]
AND THIS IS JUST DAPHNE! Like the perceptions pushed towards Fred (and Velma, but mostly Fred) through these movies are just as bad! Like okay, with Fred---In these movies Fred is just an asshole. I hate Gunn Movies!Fred. I mean yeah he can be funny but it's almost always so mean! Almost nothing makes me madder than a mean Fred by the way. If he's putting other gang members down (even halfway, like with his whole "dorky chicks like you turn me on too" line, which... ew) then to me something has gone very, very, VERY, wrong in your basic understanding of Frederick Herman Jones as a character. Like he's the cheerleader! He puts himself in between his friends and danger! He loves nets, and traps, and Elvis impressions, and wrestling, and the trapeze, and cars, and most of all he LOVES sharing the things he loves with his friends! (Sometimes to a bit of an extreme. No one wants to hear about your net facts, Fred) And the live action movies just don't understand that at all. And I know there's maybe something to say I suppose in that some of those aspects of his characterization hadn't been "established yet" by the time "Scooby-Doo" came out in 2002. But it's there if you look. For Fred Jones, being the leader means being the caretaker, (he's the Mom friend what can I say) and any version where he's cruel and arrogant and just DOESN'T CARE about his friends in the way he's shown to in the Gunn movies is just so far from Fred to me it's not even funny. And what makes it even worse for me is that this (or at least something similar) is the idea of Fred that has really spread to the popular culture. Just the "leader", the jock that makes the rules, the one that [insert X adaptation here] finally gave a personality and made interesting (something that has been said more times than I can count for pretty much every gang member, save Shaggy and Scooby).
And I haven't even touched on Velma, and how they gave her a bit of a early 2000s smart superiority girl complex against Daphne, plus the whole makeover thing and etc. etc. The Gunn Movies are pretty much what would happen if you took someone who hadn't seen Scooby since they were 7 years old (and honestly had a pretty negative outlook against it then) and tried to "fix" it, only his memory was so bad he just made up problems (and threw in a good helping of early 2000s style sexism with it) convincing pretty much the entirety of the popular culture that said problems exist and that Gunn was absolutely brilliant for fixing them (and then bringing up said "problems" whenever anyone wants to talk about Scooby) and this entire rant has been without even fucking MENTIONING what is probably the reason you, anonymous tumblr user sent this ask in the first place, to I, Swishy "Scrappy Doo Redemption Arc" Broke-on-books (dot tumblr dot com), which is his HIGHLY SUCESSFUL and utterly sadistic character assassination of my number one man, Scrappy Doo.
And I am going to try my damnedest here not to get totally into my highly passionate opinions over what James Gunn did to Scrappy in the first of his Scooby movies and how thoroughly it has pissed me the fuck off because I have been writing this post for over an hour now and if we start to really get into my feelings on this topic it will certainly be a couple of hours more but like. That Fucking Bitch. I give James Gunn personally a solid eighty-five percent of the blame for making my life as a Scrappy Doo fan UTTERLY unbearable with this stupid fucking movie alone, and just his Scrappy crimes would honestly be enough for me to say that I hate this movie, not even considering the numerous Scooby crimes I've been talking about here for the past million paragraphs, but the part about this movie that makes me the MOST mad the most pissed off is that it's actually a good fucking movie. James Gunn wrote two hilarious and entertaining movies that have become beloved in the popular culture for their successes in that arena, while at the same time pissing all over the core themes and messages of the franchise of which it was based, that of friendship.
TLDR; The Live Action Scooby Doo movies (written by James Gunn) are highly entertaining and fun pieces of media to watch, and are widely loved by the general public and looked at with fondness and nostalgia because of that. However, as a hardcore Scooby Doo fan (writing that phrase sounds so ridiculous but oh well) the existence of these movies and their impact on the popular culture can be extremely frustrating (despite any personal nostalgia said fan may have) due to their spreading of a misinformed picture of what "typical Scooby Doo" looks like. This picture is especially frustrating due to the fabrication or exaggeration of problems present in classic Scooby (such as sexism in regards to the girls), as well as giving more ammunition to other problems in Scooby fandom (such as oversexualization, and sexualization in general, which no one wants to see in regards to their children's cartoons, like HONESTLY.) Discussions of sexism and sexualization in Scooby (both of which ARE present and are issues, although not at their worst in WAY) can often lead to an overlooking of the issues that are very present and clear in WAY and have continued since then with far too little resistance (I'm 100% talking about the racism here) HOWEVER that topic deserves at least a dozen posts of its own that I am no way informed or qualified enough to even begin to think about writing. The Gunn Movies are frustrating to many longtime Scooby fans because of these reasons, but for me, and fellow Scrappy Doo fans there is also the added aspect of the demonization of Scrappy Doo in the live action movies and the affects that has had on the popular culture as well, making it uniquely inhospitable to like or enjoy the character of Scrappy. End post.
#that last sentence is such a weird tone jump btw but its because the topic flowed one way and i had to jump it back to a summary to actually#finish this monster of a post#SO anon i hope you're happy with this and this makes my opinion make some more sense. and you or anyone else is more than welcome to ask me#questions about anything i said here or my opinion on any and everything scooby related (and not) so if theres a specific aspect of this yo#would like expanded on i can definitely 100% do that for you or anyone who cares#also there are many complexities towards my feelings on these movies that i didnt get to hit on despite the monstrous size of this rant (il#check word count later but im not gonna fuck with it now because im terrified of deleting this post by accident) one of which is my lasting#fondness towards all of the actors in this movie. YES including freddie prinze jr. i may have major issues with his fred but hes also playe#characters i really really like. for example hes the va in this tv show i LOVE and havent watched in like 10 months despite the fact im on#the last season because freddie's character dies in like 7 episodes and i am NOT AT ALL emotionally prepared for that on any level because#that is my fictional father goddamnit!!!!!#also every buffy the vampire slayer gifset that crosses my dash gets me closer and closer to watching it because oh my god daphne!!!!! that#sarah michelle gellar thats daphne oh my god!!!! also i went and saw guardians of the galaxy 3 with my friend (despite not having seen a#marvel movie in 2+ years AND holding a grudge over james gunn's scooby doo crimes)[the things you do for {platonic} love amirite?]#and the title sequence SAID linda cardellini was in it and i got SO excited i was looking everywhere for her it was like wheres waldo in th#discount movie theatre FOR REAL and i just could NOT for the life of me find her (turns out she was VAing the ferret) so in a way linda mad#me cry with that role. whatever. istg i get so off topic i forget what i was even talking about but ANYWAYS <<<1 of my fave english words b#dubs (my favorite spanish word is el amanacer btw. it means sunrise. also burbujas because its bubbles and saying it sounds like bubbles#popping) BUT. AS I WAS SAYING. SEND ME ASKS IF YOU WANT SCOOBY DOO OPINIONS. DEAR GOD I GET SCATTERBRAINED SOMETIMES.#scooby doo#answered#anonymous#blah

I want to throw out a question to people because I can't really wrap my head around it. Why is it that people who are ostensibly leftists and kink positive turn around and shun certain artistic expressions of kink? I understand that if you think kink is gross you also wouldn't like kink art but every day I see more and more kink positive who call out some "gross art" and I have to wonder why that is. (I should also specify that i am talking about non-mainstream art, i understand why there might be aspects to critique there)

🖊 Dorito?
‘Enigmas of Paldea, File #11 Iron Hunter: An AI Went Rogue?!
This peculiar creature's name comes from an invention in the enigmatic Violet Book.
Theorised to be the result of a research project attempting to revive the extinct Hisuian Decidueye, using what information remained of it, and Alolan Decidueye as a base. However, something went horribly wrong, and it began attacking everything in sight.
In addition to its heartless nature, the cannons on its wings and its powerful legs make it a dangerous foe. Eyewitnesses report that it will not give up on its prey until it has succeeded in eliminating them.’
Dorito is the specific Iron Hunter referenced in this Violet book entry! Its original purpose was to observe and preserve Pokémon habitats, but due to an error in its coding, it sees all living beings as a threat to be dealt with.
However, upon arriving in the present, Dorito sustained major damage, both internal and external, meaning it is far less of a threat now! (Maybe even, the internal damage will fix some of its buggy systems, causing it to be less hostile… only time will tell!)

i'm gonna rapidfire drop some basic wolf + werewolf headcanons
in my lore, wolf did create werewolves. i know this doesn't fit with a loooot of werewolf media lore, but my lore also accounts for that lol 😂
the first werewolves he made were humans who were a; his friends and b; wanted it. but the first first werewolf he made was himself. he tested the spell on himself before he even dared casting it on others. he lived with his pack in ancient greece. he made a protected space for them all
wolf's wolf form is very large. he is the BIG bad wolf for a reason. he's like at least double the size of a normal werewolf wolf form.
his werewolves originally could change their shape from human to wolf with ease. painless and quickly. like magic. like how his shape changes. this however started to change eventually (after wolf was seriously injured) and the change eventually become slow and painful. more like the curse that modern wolves know
wolf changes from human to wolf with magic HOWEVER if he's magically drained then if he wants to change into a wolf he goes through a slow and painful change
they had very long life spans, if they died from old age at all. much like the change, this started to reduce until it reached the more normal life span that werewolves have currently
wolf has a soft spot for werewolves for obvious reasons. a werewolf would have an easier job of getting through his wolves than anyone else. that doesn't mean it's EASY. just easier than a non-woof.
wolfs brother, kosmos, invented the first order of (werewolf) hunters because he was pissed off at wolf. this in turn, made wolf pissed off at him.

HI HI OKAY. OKAY PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THIS IS NOT IRONED OUT AT ALL.
BUT.
king ren arc. scar is one of ren’s knights. impulse is resisting with the soup group. grian is…. attempting not to resist. mumbo is… well, mumbo is Somewhere on the server. maybe he’s staying out of it but eventually gets dragged in by one side.
now imagine the betrayal of seeing your boyfriend (are they even together yet? who knows!) teaming with the king. the same king that everyone basically thinks is Bad.
imagine the pain that’d cause.
it’s just impulse and grian, and maybe a mumbo who pops his head in from time to time. maybe mumbo is trying to stay neutral (unlike grian who’s Failing) but still wants to be around his partners.
and uhhhhh sculk infected grian gets to be a play in this because I’ve been Wanting to do smth with that real bad. maybe our bird boy bites off a Bit more than he can chew. and with all of the fighting, no one notices before it’s too late…..
also because I Can’t do king ren without his ever faithful right hand…. Martyn gets there somehow. I don’t know for sure how yet

Post the current first sentence(s) of your wips!
tagged by the loveliest @7msc (tq) and yeah my list of wips is long. i have way too many open google docs so strap in
1. my number one priority wip: carlando dirty dancing au
(btw this is the only wip on this list that WILL 100% be published. im currently writing it and having the most fun time of my life)
Through the window of the back seat, Lando watched the blur of crowded beaches pass by. The heat was so suffocating that he wondered whether it’d be better to put the roof up on their convertible and crank up the AC, but his parents would only do so if Oliver asked, and his older brother next to him looked much too happy in his Ray Bans for that.
2. carlando religion fic (which is me putting very catholic carlos through very gay experiences)
When Carlos was little, his legs still prone to stumbling and his hands not big enough to catch him, he fell into a thick, bushy plant that littered the garden section of his family’s farm. Luckily, his mother had been watching him and was able to carefully lift him back onto his feet, even as tears stained Carlos’ cheeks. He immediately wrapped his arms around her and, in turn, felt her own hands cradle the back of his head.
3. would you look at that, since im the most basic person ever, ANOTHER carlando fic (this time centered around madrid culture basically and life in madrid esp as a uni student)
His grandfather’s hands were steady on the knife as it cut through the manchego cheese. Each time he sliced a new triangle of cheese he placed it on the white, ceramic plate beside him, arranging the pieces in a circular manner, so that they formed a perfectly layered circle. In the background was his grandmother, stirring a pot of her homemade estofado on the stove fire, her apron tied on her back in a loose bow. Beside her, above the sink, was his mother, straining a can of olives while she chatted to his grandmother about distant relatives he didn’t think he’d ever met.
4. my lestappen wip with top charles and bottom max <3 (very dear to me, which i started writing thanks to @yunoflove)
The night before the Monaco Grand Prix, Max found himself in a club bathroom wiping someone else’s vomit off his shirt.
It was all his fault, really. Usually, he had a routine, a night-before-a-Grand-Prix routine that hadn’t changed since it’d been established when he was eighteen. It consisted of sim work, a wank, and sleep. Simple enough, and usually easy to follow, but recently Max had started entering what he’d decided to call… uncharted territory.
And that’s it! Only number one will ever see the light of day but anyways!! there’s an insight to what goes on in my brain i suppose. i won’t tag anyone, you’re all more than welcome to do this if you have any wips!!!!

was on a bit of a bender, sent a bonkers ask to a another poor blog and forgot about it, but now I think about it, it mightn’t have been as bunk as I thought? I think it went like this
“The clowns are playing their part to perfection” -> thinking about clowns with set parts/roles, Pierrot’s sad relationship/love triangle with Columbine and Harlequin -> pierrot’s character over time has had a lot of range (mostly a sad underdog jokester) -> a 20th century/modernist interpretation of Pierrot as part of ts elliot’s inspiration for the Lovesong of J Alfred Prufrock -> (loki reading other Elliot texts) -> “prufrock” poem pretty lokius-flavoured ? -> is mobius or loki in the sad pierrot role ? Maybe both? Sad little clowns, playing their parts to a fault :(
ok looking back at it again it is a bit of a mess, yet I yeet it unto you
Anon if this is you on a bit of a lark I can't even begin to imagine your full power, lol! What an fascinating take that tbh I wish I had even an ounce of the literary awareness necessary to process as thoroughly as deserved but will happily give it a go anyway 😅
I've always found that "clowns are playing their part to perfection" line of Loki's especially striking because while I'm sure it was meant to imply a dismissal of the situation and nonchalance over loss of control, there's no reason it would have the intended impact when nothing about the TVA had come across as less than hypercompetent?? From B-15's seamless takedown of Loki in the first place to the efficient process of variants, swift guilty ruling as his lack of access to magic is scoffed at, and Mobius having the upper hand as a Loki expert there's not really anything for that line to do except hang there as much higher symbolism so I think you're right to look at it in perspective to both Loki and Mobius considering how much they ended up mirroring each other right down to the temporarily (forever an optimist 😂) tragic romance of their ending.
On that note it's very interesting there are such clear comparisons between Loki and Pierrot since as you mentioned Pierrot's known for being an underdog and prankster to hide his unhappiness, flawed and in search of love, not to mention having a near "obsession" with Columbine only to often end up pining for his best and only friend the Moon 👀
While I'm biased and usually think of everything in terms of Mobius so I see both Pierrot (with his sense of endearing, eternally youthful energy) and Harlequin in him, in this case it makes sense to look at him in terms of Harlequin and how he's usually in high spirits, uses his clever nature to solve and escape problems easily, and unlike those around him doesn't hold onto grudges against those who have wronged him. There's also his TVA service that later turns into full devotion to Loki similar to how Harlequin is later considered a witty, faithful valet (""Why aren't the two of you in cahoots with him and his butler?") and it's notable how Loki is described by Mobius as a man of action when in pantomime Pierrot eventually takes on many of the characteristics of Harlequin, ending up representing the symbol of the artist just like Loki created a new story in the end.
Apologies that Prufrock I'm not quite as familiar with outside of a general awareness, but if I remember correctly it ultimately conveys an isolation or distance from the world after being too afraid to confront the surface level emptiness of life?? Which if so talk about Lokius being doomed to the narrative after failing to escape their past circumstances and getting (temporarily!!) confined in the very places they feared 😬

Broooo I love DadMight so much! I was introduced to bnha fanfic with DadZawa content and I slurped it up! I never knew I needed a familial platonic relationship until I found that kind of content. Then came the DadMight and oh boi no other Dads-for-Izuku fics is the same. It hits different because it's closest to canon for me! I was quite upset to find so many All Might bashing fics like he's such a precious golden retriever why would anyone hate him :((
My question is: what is your opinion on All Might bashing?
PS. I love the content u write. I don't comment often because I'm shy and bad with words but u bet I kudos everything I've read so far ♡ Thank u for being u!!!
So much of your ask rings true for me, too, Anon! Familial platonic relationships were something I didn't really feel like I saw until this fandom and I'm so glad I'm here for it.
As for your question about All Might Bashing, I've got a short answer and a longer answer for you.
The short answer is, my thoughts are the same as they are for anything I don't like in fandom: live and let live. Not all spaces of fandom are for me, and my corner of fandom is not for everyone.
My longer answer is geared a little more towards bashing in general since I find it interesting that most character bashing I see shares the same traits, but some of it is focused on All Might.
People seem to bash All Might for a couple of reasons IMO:
They want to make Dadzawa or some other relationship with Izuku stronger in their fics. This is where I've seen the most All Might bashing, and it's by far the most interesting one to me (not because I like it, of course). It's interesting to me because I think a lot of the writers who do this do so because, consciously or subconsciously, they recognize that Dadmight is too canonically strong to simply ignore in a Dadzawa fic. In other words, every time I have happened upon an All Might Bashing fic by accident, it's as if the writer needed to get him out of the way to make Dadzawa for Izuku happen. So to me, this kind of bashing is a testament to All Might and Izuku's canon bond more than anything else.
The rooftop scene and All Might's struggles as a teacher bothers them. This one is interesting to me, too, because it occurs to me now that the three main non-villain characters I see bashed from BNHA - All Might, Bakugou, and Aizawa - are all largely bashed for their first portrayals in canon. This suggests that much of what people might dislike about any one of these characters could be due to some struggle on Horikoshi's part to introduce characters as someone likable or at least changeable, or to at least find his footing in the beginning of the manga. There's an argument to be made then, I suppose, for anyone who doesn't like any one of these three characters to consider their characters not from their first appearance but perhaps from at least their 5th or 6th.
This one I'm the least certain of, but it's possible that All Might reminds bashers of someone they don't like IRL. This hypothesis comes from my own understanding of why I don't like certain characters in media and conceding that I don't like some characters because they remind me of real people I struggle with. My other thought for it is that a lot of hate All Might gets is about his teaching, and it does seem like a lot of people who bash the teachers in particular are younger members of fandom, which suggests some sort of projecting. I think this one is the hardest to verify, though, because I think most bashers wouldn't be doing this consciously and instead would point back to reasons stated in my second point.
ADDITION: I was just reminded that some people believe All Might gets bashed a lot because he's not conventionally attractive. This one probably falls into my third point pretty well, but I think it deserves its own point because I think it also pairs with why some characters seem more popular in any fandom. It's not great, but conventionally attractive characters tend to have more fans, and it seems the corollary can be true, too.
So I guess my general feeling on All Might Bashing in particular beyond "live and let live" is that I understand it to a point where, even though I disagree with it, I'm not going to argue with a basher. That's both because I'm unlikely to change their mind and because I'm generally not in fandom to participate in debates.
Thank you so much for your ask and for your kind words! It means a lot to me that you reached out as I know it's not always easy to comment or send an ask. If you have any of your own thoughts you'd like to share about this, I'd love to hear them!

The Ivory Isle Pt.2
This post is about the different species that live in the Isle! I mentioned briefly in the last post about how some creatures have more magic than others, and I wanted to expand more on that. All beings do have some level of magic in them, but it's higher in others. This is why using magic comes naturally to some, but humans need more training and focus. It might also explain why humans fear them so much.
Speaking of the species, this is my crappy attempt to segway into talking about all of them. Here we go!
You'll notice I'll classify some as "humanoid" and that just means that they can learn human language and often are more hybrid-like species.
Humans- Low magic ratio, and they fear those with higher magic percentages. They can use magic, but it takes much more time to learn.
Harpies- You know harpies from Greek mythology? That's not this. They share a name and wings, that's it. Harpies have a higher magic ratio, but are essentially humans with bird wings and tails. You can also get harpies of any bird type, and while they are human sized, a hummingbird harpy is going to be much smaller than an ostrich harpy. Humanoid, and can disguise as humans with only slight difficulty,
Centaurs- Just a centaur. Also have a higher magic ratio than humans. They too have a few differences from "real-world" centaurs. Really just that instead of being limited to types of horses, it's horses and horse-adjacents! Humanoid, but disguising as a human is a nearly impossible feat.
Satyrs- Not just two-legged centaurs. They are their own species, but the rule about variety applies to them as well. Humanoid, and can disguise as human with ease.
Merpeople- Honestly just what it sounds like. Merpeople also have varieties of really any sea creature. Humanoid, and disguising as a human is not gonna happen?
Dragons- Dragons! Think of a dragon... and that's it! Not humanoid.
I might add to this later, but for now that's it! Stay tuned for more about the world in my head.
Part one (the basics)
Part three (the Carrows + the Guild)
Part four (characters)
