Medblr, I think we ought to have an antibiotics bracket. Just for fun. Everyone can submit their favorite antibiotic regimens and write propaganda for them (or anti-propaganda for the ones you hate) before we crown the one true antibiotic (regimen). Doesn’t have to be a single medication, it can be a combo. Here’s some of what I’m thinking of including:

I almost lost my mind but I took some time off to build so I didn't!

The pair practice and after a while we get milestone lights!
Lavina: Oh how wonderful! Although she does look glum
Viola is up and crawling but is very pouty about it.
Rahul: Shucks, she probably needs more antibiotics
Lavina: Don’t worry, I’ll grab them for you
Lavina: My goodness what did I nearly trip on
Rahul: It’s a robot vacuum
Cassandra: We can set it to auto clean and it should take care of any dust bunnies
Lavina stomps off to the medicine cabinet grumbling about technology these days. After Viola has her medicine and is fed Cassandra gets her to bed. Both of them need sleep, here’s hoping they can get some.
Cluckton: *crows* hear ye, hear ye! We’ve survived a bad mod storm that involved sims being sick and unable to go to the doctor! Let us all thank the watcher for getting help and giving up on that module without deleting us. We came so close to DOOM!
Mercedes: Is Cluckton still crowing
Savannah: Maybe. He probably just wants to make sure we can hear him all the way over here
Cassandra: Good morning green bean! Isn’t it so much better without those nasty bugs? You look better
Viola: se na ma do (so do you mama)
Cassandra: I just finished pumping so this bottle is nice and fresh for my little guzzler
Viola tucks into the bottle with gusto, promptly finishing it. Cassandra takes her over to the changing table for a fresh nappy when Mercedes comes and sits on the rocking chair.
Mercedes: Morning mama. Did papa tell you they say I’m gifted
Cassandra: he did! But gifted or not you are my daughter and I love you for more than your brain, okay
Mercedes: Okay mama. Can you come to word class with me today? Papa can go with Savannah instead
Cassandra: If you'd like me there I’d love to
Savannah: And a drop here, and a drop there, and-
Rahul: SAVANNAH
Savannah: Huh what?
Rahul: Why did you dump this paint on the floor
Savannah: It wasn’t me!
Rahul: I SAW you Savannah, don’t start lying. No tv for a day and you will clean this up, right now!
Savannah: But… how will I get my fun need up without tv
Rahul: You should have thought of that before you made a mess. Now your mama and I are swapping after school duties and I expect you on your best behaviour for OT
Savannah: *sighs* yes papa
Cassandra streams her guitar practice this morning. Nursing has affected how much time she’s been able to spend increasing her skills and fame. While she strums the yard animals again inspect Viola. Seven in particular finds the infant suspicious. After playing with her rattle Viola sets off crawling around, the feel of grass under her fingers is a lot of fun.
Even though the yard is sheltered, with the rain Cassandra doesn’t like Viola spending too much time outside in case she gets windchill. Back inside it’s time for more standing practice. After a series of tries together Viola gurgles she wants to try by herself so Cassandra steps back and Viola looks up at the couch. She stretches her arms and up she goes! Cassandra is so excited she takes a small video to show Rahul in case Viola doesn’t feel like showing off later.
Lavina: Look at her go! She’s a star
Cassandra: Could you get her down for a nap? I have to go tell Rahul
Lavina: Oh course dear
…
Cassandra: Then she just pulled herself up
Rahul: That’s wonderful
Cassandra: It has got me thinking… she’s growing up…
Rahul: And the nursery will be empty… can’t have that…
Cassandra: shall we go try then?
Rahul: Don’t have to ask me twice
So the two head to their room and spend time… flipping pillows until their daughters are ready for after school activities.
Word class and OT went well, Cassandra does have to rush off to work pretty soon afterwards though. The girls head inside to do their homework while Rahul cooks.
Lavina: What is word class when it’s at home
Mercedes: Stuff. Helping stuff
Lavina: And this is meant to make you better at talking is it? Doesn’t seem to be making much difference so far
Rahul: Mum! Be nice, let's not teach them to be rude
Lavina: I want my granddaughters to succeed, is that rude? Now Savannah, are you sure that’s the right way to hold your pencil?
Savannah: *sighs dramatically*
Rahul: Mum! Don’t fuss. They’ve both done well today
Savannah: If I’ve done well... can I watch TV?
Rahul: No. I said no TV for a day and I meant it
Mercedes: But Savannah did good
Rahul: Yes but she still did bad this morning
Mercedes: She cleaned it
Rahul: After being caught and trying to lie about it
Lavina: And she should consider herself lucky. Any time your papa made a mess it was no TV for a week. He learned not to and so will your sister
Savannah: *fumes in silence*
Rahul: I’m sorry if you are upset Honeybee but your punishment was for earlier. Consequences are tied to our actions. When you’re grown you’ll understand
Mercedes: I thought we were grown
Rahul: Not yet little ladybug. Think of it this way Savannah… If I sheared some wool off Seven and cut her by accident, I could bottle feed her all I like but it wouldn’t change that I cut her. There’s only 12 hours left and you’ll be asleep for most of it
Savannah: Oh... I forgot about sleep
Mercedes: I guess I can’t watch TV either
Lavina: Why not?
Mercedes: Sol.. solid… together. We stick together (solidarity)

Inktober, Tiffany Aching, Barbie, and a General Life Update
The Plan: Read the Tiffany Aching books during the summer, re-make her, and use her as the main character for my next Inktober.
The Reality: while I was finishing Cupid Cafe my landlord decided to sell the apartment I've been renting for over a decade. It was an extremely shitty one (no heating, broken air-conditioning units, dark, moldy, etc), but it was dirty cheap, and the best I could afford.
It was sold in mid-June, and the new owner (surprising no one) wanted to raise the rent. I don't know how the rental market is wherever you live, but here (in Athens, Greece) it's a right nightmare (Airbnb has a lot to answer for...). I couldn't find anything in the same price bracket that wasn't basically a tiny basement-turned-into-a-studio. I was panicking. Heavily.
In the end a (really good) friend came to my rescue. She convinced her mom (who had moved to her vacation home during the pandemic) to rent me the city apartment she was rarely using anymore. With the same money I was paying for the previous one. A fucking life saver let me tell you.
It's a much bigger, and generally much nicer, one than the previous shithole I was living in. I finally have enough space for an actual studio. It's also in a much nicer neighbourhood. One I normally would not be able to afford. Lots of green spaces, and very pet friendly (I don't have a pet at the moment, but I'm greatly enjoying meeting all the happy puppers on their walks, whenever I'm out and about).
I moved in in mid-July. I'm still working on it, as I've been going through a lot of the things I had in storage, deciding what to keep, donate, or throw away, and that takes time. The studio is still a mess, but here is a sneak peek of my current working space (the walls were supposed to be lilac, but I'm not complaining - Peppa-the-pig pink it is):
Anyway, back to Inktober. As you can imagine I had hardly the time to read anything during the summer, so the Tiffany Aching idea will have to wait. I also felt extremely uninspired by this year's Inktober prompts. I dug around a bit and found a prompt list I actually like. It's the Mystical Witchtober one, hosted by agingerly aianaiya isabee Madie Meri Marigona Suli Aria and Talita on Instagram. Here's the prompt list (by isabee):
As I was going through the things I've had in storage I found some of my childhood Barbie magazines and sticker albums. So I'm thinking of riding the nostalgia wave, and turning my Witchtober into a slightly Barbie-esque, and a bit late 1980's/early 1990's themed, witch-vampire romance.
I will be working on it at a rather leisurely pace, since I'm still busy working on my new space, and also recovering from a recurring freak throat infection I've had since mid-August (was it strep? was it mono? Who knows? Not my doctors). I've been through two rounds of antibiotics and I'm still not completely well, so please be patient with me.
I think that's all for now. Stick around for a very soft and pink Witchtober. And worry not, I have a lot of Wyrd Sisters things planned once this one is over.

Oh yeah, I've also somehow managed in the middle of all the chaos to acquire a new boyfriend. Which hasn't happened in a while. So that's nice.

I made last year's Wyrd Sisters Abroad Inktober into a zine for the Comicdom Con in May. In true ADHD fashion it was written at five a.m. the morning it had to be at the printer's, after the third all nighter in a row. So typos were inevitable. But the fact that this was the only typo that made it through to the printed version, had me giggling uncontrollably once I discovered it (a couple of months later, it took me a while). Enjoy:

Two weeks down…..
We are two weeks into the new year and it hasn’t been an auspicious start. I have spent most of it sick with pneumonia and although the antibiotics are finished I’m still hacking up a lung. I have gotten back to taking my vitamins and I did see my trainer for the first time on Wednesday. Almost 4 weeks of surfing the bed and couch has not been kind ti my muscles and joints.
You women out there in my age bracket will understand when I say hair grows where it shouldn’t. It’s even worse if you’ve suffered from PCOS. I’ve been lax about said hair removal but decided I needed to be better. Warning! When you remove hair in the face it makes the wrinkle allot more prominent! That good skin care intention is definitely now a requirement 😂.
I purchase some dietary greens that you see all over the internet. I struggle with IBS as well as major inflammation and am at high risk for cancer due to my history. The greens help with inflammation, have tumour reducing properties as well as pre and probiotics and allot of other healthy benefits. I have a very sensitive sense of taste and they although they are manageable they are definitely earthier than I would like. I Ended up eating a mint aero bar to get rid of the taste. I’m thinking it defeats the purpose of the healthy greens 🤷🏼♀️😂. I’ll have to figure something out to dilute the taste.
I’m hoping to get back to the gym in February but we will see how that goes.

inkfish beak healthcare
the beak of an inkfish is one of the only hard parts of their bodies, made of a strong chitin thats soft at the base and becomes more dense at the tip. the rest is all muscle and cartilage, save for the organs. most inkfish have strong jawlines that outline a powerful mandible made to crush hard shells and exoskeletons.
inkfish get only one beak throughout their entire lives, so it's important to take care of it, even if it grows continually. beaks come in a variety if shapes and sizes depending on species and individual. corrective surgery is only for malformed beaks that cause pain or repeated infection.
in the place of a tongue is their radula, a spiked appendage with the same purpose as molar teeth: grinding food. the radula grinds food against the roof of the beak by flexing and contorting.
this will leave some debris caught between the spikes. the most common instrument for beak care at home is something similar to a waterpik for flushing leftover food bits from between the crevices. another tool for cleaning ones radula is a rubber-bristled brush which is easier to use on the go.
the beak is cleaned with a soft bristle brush so the gums are not irritated. a minty paste is often used for the smell. pretty similar to humans, all things considered, but more careful attention is payed to the gums and radula.
due to their robust immune systems, inkfish rarely have dental issues. their lack of teeth means there's very little risk of cavities, and they often keep special whetstones to sharpen their beaks if they get dull or overgrown. neglecting this aspect of care can lead the beak to grow out of control and impact the inner mouth, increasing the likelihood of infection and permanent deformation of the beak.
professionals aren't normally sought for this, but if someone has a disability or disease effecting the toughness of their beak then more careful attention needs to be paid to prevent splintering, cracking, chipping, or warping.
inkfish beaks are extremely tough, and as such are hard to break. it's not impossible, though. inkfish are active and competitive creatures. inksports are much more dangerous than the average inkfish would have you believe, but that said, a broken beak is a rare occurrence even in the most extreme brackets.
accidents happen, especially during extreme sports. the most common form of beak injury is being fractured from a heavy impact. if not treated, fractures can become infected depending on where and how deep it is. treatment is simple. since the beak will continue to grow out from the gums, non severe cases are treated with gentle antibiotic paste and a soft diet until the fracture has grown out completely.
there are enough instances of beaks being chipped or even completely broken for it to be a common fear among inkfish, but these cases are usually people playing stupid games to win stupid prizes.

I got bit by a brown recluse spider and am going to be taking a 10 day course of antibiotics to treat it which is going to wreak havoc on my tummy. God gives his hardest battles to his silliest soldiers I guess.

hi guys!! it’s been a while, sorry 😅
i’m finally finishing out my antibiotics so i’ll be getting back on the saddle again soon, and i’m hoping the first polls will be posted by ~8 PM EDT tomorrow! obviously no promises, but i’ll try my best.

After a while Cassandra wakes and hugs Mercedes for good measure before heading for the shower.

Viola babbles but still no words yet. She stays in the back carrier while Rahul sorts out his own breakfast and washes up.

After her nap Cassandra is feeling brighter so decides to try and finish her latest piano song. After a while Rahul brings Viola in. Apparently the poor love has an ear infection. He’s given her the antibiotics but there’s not much else to do but wait. Cassandra tries to distract her with singing and playing and Viola manages to push herself up on all fours now and then.
After having a… moment when she arrived home, Mercedes goes with Rahul to the psychologist. Savannah meanwhile settles down to do her homework by the pile of presents that came in the mail. Rahul and Mercedes get home with the news that Mercedes is a gifted student. This will come with benefits and consequences. While Henford public school may be able to cater to her, there is the possibility of sending her somewhere more academic focused if that’s what she wants.
Savannah: Does this mean you’ll be the smartest kid in class
Mercedes: I don’t know, my words are still trippy (tricky)
Savannah: Not everything needs words though. Hey if you can understand math give me some help okay
Mercedes: I still have to be learned (taught) things first. But they said I might be able to get into a flash school
Savannah: Wait… then we’d be apart!
Mercedes: I didn’t say I would

breakdown: what could fit better for this solid, determined mech than the apple tooth? while originally fairly common and found on old apple trees in orchards, the felling of so many of these orchards has made it increasingly rare, even becoming a part of the red list of endangered fungal species in some countries. its simplistic shape, formed of thousands of what appear to be fungal stalactites crowded together, nonetheless is incredibly breathtaking once given a second glance.

I'm gonna write something i just thought about, it's something thats currently happening close to me and i wanna write about it with Andrew.
I'm first gonna start with an introduction from real life:
my aunt recently found the most sweetest and adorable kitten on the street, badly hurt. She's a absolute fighter and managed to survive after my aunt took her in (and went to the vet with her)
Now im gonna start the story (im putting notes from real life between brackets)
Andrew is walking outside, just for the sake of walking and smoking in the cold. (my aunt was walking her dog but yeah i cant imagine Andrew having a dog so even if this is based on a real life event im gonna cut the dog out of it)
He cupped his hands around his cigeratte and occasionally took a drag and blowing the smoke into the cold air.
Until he noticed something in the corner of his eye.
At first he shrugged it off as a bag of some sort but it moved.
He walked closer to is and noticed 'the bag' was moving and he realised it wasn't a bag at all.
He crouched down and leaned forward to see a grey kitten, her ears and nose darkish grey/brownish.
Andrew looked around before reaching out towards her. She was shaking from the cold and she let him pick her up.
Andrew noticed her back legs were hurt and as he zipped open his jacket he pulled her to his chest.
"You're okay now." he whispered as he wrapped her in his coat. He made his way home quickly to get his car and drove to the vet.
The Veterinarian took care of the kitten and told Andrew if he had been even an hour later, she would have died and Andrew couldn't help but feel a stab of pain from that
What exactly had happened to this sweet little kitten. Had she wondered of on her own? Or was she abandoned?
How did she get those paw injuries? Was it a dog attack? A car? Scooter? Bicycle?
He didn't know and it wasn't like the cat could tell him.
Oddly though Andrew felt a connection with the kitten, maybe because she went through a lot of trouble while dhe was so young. (in my head i actually call the cat Andrew, just because she went through so much at such a young age, and the colour of her fur, though my aunt gave her another name)
For the night the Veterinarian took her home but they promised to keep Andrew updated.
A few days later the cat was at his apartment. Neil had obviously heard about the cat. It was the first thing Andrew had told him when he got home that day.
But now the cat was at their home and Neil was sold. She was so sweet and laid on his lap purring. Her legs were wrapped in a thick layer of orange and yellow bandage
Andrew had told him, he didn't want to keep her but he felt responsible for her as he had found her and wanted to take care of her till she was better.
Neil knew better. He knew that look in Andrew's eyes. The look he had when he looked at something that was for him to protect. Andrew gave Neil that look more than once and Neil knew this cat would stay even if Andrew hadn't figured that out yet.
Andrew loyally gave her her antibiotics and took her to the vet. Sometimes Nicky went with him sometimes Neil
Nicky called the cat Snow for the first few days he saw her, as Andrew hadn't named it yet but Andrew soon decided to name her King (my aunt called the cat Mouse but King fit better in this story for obvious reasons)
King was very sweet and loved the attention she was getting from all the Foxes, who obviously heard about the cat from a very eager and excited Nicky
Andrew offered to give the cat to Nicky after she healed but after a week Andrew finally realised he couldn't give her away.
He told Neil first, "I don't want to give this cat away, she's my responsibility it doesn't feel right to give her away."
It was obvious how Neil reacted, he agreed to it. But he couldn't not agree. This cat and Andrew were perfect for each other.
King was totally at peace with Andrew and Andrew, though he wouldn't admit it, loved the cat with his entire heart.
He was so gentle with her and when he thought no one was looking there was a small soft smile on his face.
She was slowly getting better but King still has a long way to go.
But Andrew knew he would be by her side all the way, and in his heart he promised nothing bad will ever happen to his King anymore. He would protect her with all he had.
And he knew all the Foxes (including Wymack) had promised to keep her safe too
