Can you buy those bags of frozen veggies (or just chop your own) and store them in the freezer? Leafy stuff like lettuce probably won't freeze well but chopped up veggies should be fine.
You could make a bunch of batches of food and freeze them in cubes or some kind of tray so you can easily cut and thaw portions.
I can't for Ed, most of what he needs is leafy greens. Daily staples for bearded dragons include dandelion greens, turnip greens, collard greens, mustard greens, arugula/rocket, and cactus pads. They get squash (can be acorn, butternut, spaghetti, etc) in addition to that as a daily staple, all other veggies are just occasional extras.
That said, I've frozen greens as part of a varied chop before, with dry ingredients added to help soak up water, for the rats. It does get a bit mushy, but they still loved it. But it wouldn't work for Ed.
Past ratty chop!

Have you heard about how a Japanese aquarium had to switch the fish it feeds the penguins due to inflation? But they don't really like the new fish?
https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/japan-hakone-aquarium-penguins-fish-intl-hnk/index.html
Seems like the staff are doing their best to remedy the situation, but it's got me curious.
Have you run into problems like that before at your place? Animals being picky eaters, or challenges due to rising costs? I hope you don't mind me asking, I just think the "behind the scenes" stuff is always interesting and fun to learn about.
I hope you have a good day! ^_^
Oh my gosh, I have to admit that article made me laugh a little 😂 it sounds like the penguins are indeed just being picky eaters and decided the new fish isn’t fit for their refined palates. Mackerel is a perfectly suitable entrée for a penguin, even if these little food critics don’t agree!
As far as I know, my park has thankfully never had to major diet changes due to financial constraints. However, the vet may sometimes make dietary adjustments for health reasons. For example, if an animal is getting to be a little on the chunky side, a species of fish that is lower in calories may be substituted, or vice versa— animals that are slimming down might receive a higher calorie species.
That said, the individual animals definitely have their “favorite foods,” and may even spit it out if it’s something they don’t like, like finicky toddlers. I find it hilarious that the dolphins also have favorite (and least favorite) foods, despite cetaceans lacking the senses of taste and smell. I guess it’s all in the texture!

Mastering Shrimp Feed Management: Strategies for Success
Feed is a major input cost of 60 to 65% of shrimp production
If it is not managed properly
It directly affects the water quality and Pond's bottom
Water quality is the most important element to achieve a successful crop. The entire culture is dependent on this aspect and to maintain a good water quality
Organic matter releases toxic gases like ammonia and hydrogen sulphide in the pond leading to stress or death of shrimps. Organic waste is in the form of layer on the soil with black colour found in feeding area, corners, trenches and in the centre in ponds. Aerators should be checked for the presence of black layer when it is in wet condition
Excess cost for pond treatment
Following best management practices of pond preparation provides a cleaner environment for shrimp cultivation by adopting scientific methods to reduce the risk of diseases and other outbreaks.
Eventually Survival rate of the Shrimp drops and crop failure
The size of the pellets directly depends on the age and size of the shrimps
If the pellet size is larger, it means there is less surface area for contact.
Automatic Feeder
Smart feeders represented a big breakthrough in the digitalisation efforts of shrimp farmers. Before their introduction, shrimp were manually fed several times per day and distributing feed across large ponds was time-consuming.  Visually monitoring shrimp feeding behaviour was also challenging due to the murky water in the ponds. Digitally connecting automatic feeders with the pond enabled the collection of valuable information on shrimp activity, which could then be transmitted to the feeders.
This new concept also incorporates Skretting’s latest growth models and services through which farm performance can be enhanced.
Benefits
Precision feeding
Farm Management
Technical support
Manual Feeder
A manual feeder for shrimp is a tool or device used by shrimp farmers to distribute feed to the shrimp in ponds or tanks. This feeder is operated manually, meaning that the farmer physically distributes the feed by hand or with the help of simple tools such as scoops or buckets.
Manual feeders are commonly used in small-scale or traditional shrimp farming operations where automated feeding systems may not be practical or affordable. The farmer can control the amount and frequency of feed provided to the shrimp by adjusting their feeding practices with the manual feeder. This method allows for more direct oversight of the feeding process and enables farmers to monitor shrimp behaviour and adjust feeding rates accordingly.

Unlocking Sustainability: The Rise of Upcycled Animal Feed Market
The upcycled animal feed market is poised to revolutionize the way we approach animal nutrition, offering a sustainable solution to the challenges faced by the animal feed industry. With the global sustainable animal feed market projected to reach US$ 58.03 Billion by 2030, this trend is expected to have a significant impact on the industry's growth and development.
Challenges and Opportunities
The upcycled animal feed industry faces several challenges, including the rising cost of animal feed, the absence of regulations and standards associated with feed sustainability, and the scarcity of knowledge related to animal sustainability. However, upcycling food waste to animal feed presents an opportunity to provide a non-competing, locally-based nutritional resource with a low environmental impact. This approach can significantly contribute to achieving food security and sustainability.
Market Growth and Trends
The global sustainable animal feed market is valued at US$ 10.57 Billion in 2021 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 21.2% during the forecast period of 2022-2030. The market is driven by several factors, including the surging demands for animal products, growing animal health consciousness among consumers, changing feed preferences by pet owners, high demand from livestock animal segments, increasing awareness regarding the health benefits of algae-based ingredients in animal feed, adoption of new science and technologies, and growing environmental safety concerns such as the carbon footprint of animal products.
Regional Analysis
Geographically, Europe and Asia Pacific regions are expected to witness significant growth over the forecast period due to the rising awareness among pet owners and livestock owners regarding the health benefits of animal proteins and the growing demand for animal feed. The North America upcycled ingredients market accounts for the largest market share, driven by an increasing demand for organic products and the presence of several key players in the upcycled ingredient market.
Benefits and Future Outlook
Upcycled animal feed offers several benefits, including reduced environmental impact, lower costs, and improved animal health. The industry's focus on fulfilling user demand for security and resilience by increasing new developments in feed additives and supplements in animal nutrition during manufacturing of animal feed is expected to drive growth. The future of animal feed is likely to be shaped by advances in raw materials, potentially changing the overall approach to feed formulation.
Conclusion
The upcycled animal feed market presents a significant opportunity for the animal feed industry to transition towards a more sustainable future. With its potential to reduce environmental impact, lower costs, and improve animal health, this trend is expected to have a lasting impact on the industry's growth and development. As the market continues to evolve, it is essential to address the challenges and opportunities presented by upcycling food waste to animal feed, ensuring a sustainable and resilient future for the industry.
