I am becoming convinced that able-bodied people do not actually know what experiencing pain is like based on the way they talk about it.

To me, developing chronic pain gave me this moment where I was like, "Oh, this is what being in pain is ACTUALLY like. I am 24, and I have to learn how to be in pain." Sure, I've had twisted ankles, I broke my arm, I've had the flu. Temporary pain hurts and is valid, but you don't learn how to actually be in pain until you are in it all the time. It's a hard lesson to learn.

To those of you feeling like all of your internet friends are screaming at you, you are not alone. It’s a bit of a clusterfuck right now, and the future looks very bleak considering the Supreme Court. It can be very easy to slip into despair. Don’t. While some people are trying to offer help, it can feel like your dashboard/feed/whatever is one huge trauma conga line. And it is. There’s a lot of people who don’t know what to do, so they’re reblogging everything that they feel is helpful all at once, while others are venting very legitimate frustrations and fears. But it can all be so very overwhelming being on the receiving end of it.

So do your best not to get overwhelmed. Step away. Take a break. Skip posts. I’m here to tell you, you can mute or unfollow people. You can set up filters. Do what you need to do in order to preserve your mental health so that you can function for the long haul.

Because it will be a long haul. A lot of posts are going to play up urgency. But take a minute, an hour, even a few days to shore up your mental health shields. You don’t have to do everything now. And it’s important to not get so overwhelmed that you end up doing nothing. Because doing nothing is what got us here.

Remember that some people have different responses to trauma. Some fight, some freeze, and some flee. All are valid and all need to do different things.

There are lots of resources if you are looking to fight... you don’t need a list from me. Your dash/feed is probably full of helpful lists. And there’s always googling if for some miraculous reason it isn’t.

If you are frozen, step away for today. The problem will still exist tomorrow. If you feel stuck tomorrow and don’t know what to do, make a list of 3-10 options suggested by all of the reblogs/retweets/etc. and assign them a number. Then go to Random.org and randomize what ONE thing you will do. If you really hate it, you know that isn’t a viable option for you. Keep doing that until you find ONE thing that you can do.

If you need to flee, flee. Take the time you need to get your bearings. Then, when you feel safer, find ONE thing to do that you feel safe doing.

This is a battle that is going to be won in inches. And I’m going to tell you that if all of your troops are suffering from mental burnout/despair, then the other side will continue to win.

And that’s the last thing we want or need.

So I just got this comment. A couple other people I know got very similar ones.

Now, I say this as someone who absolutely detests the use of AI for creative fields, but leaving comments like this, whether on art or on writing, is a bad idea.

I wrote the fic in question, by the best I can determine, a good six months before the AI program was created or made available to the public. It isn't possible for me to have used the program, even if I were okay with its use.

This screams of someone going on a witch hunt, just scanning fics to try and find those sneaky evil fandom creators and brand them as Bad. And they're getting it blatantly, laughably wrong. They're making people who are against the use of AI look stupid, which isn't helpful.

But maybe this comment was poorly worded. Maybe they'll were trying to say that they found proof that my fic was one the AI learned from and steals from to use when writing for others. Great. Congratulations. You've triggered my anxiety by showing me that something much greater than I had stolen my work and used it to help another profit. Stolen my fan content, which I can't defend against. Not everyone is able or willing to jump into a legal battle against AI companies; I certainly am not.

This is not helpful. This is a good way to to either start making people point fingers and blame the innocent, of making people feel small and helpless. If you want to do something about this extremely big problem, do actual work. Sign petitions. Spread information of how AI use is harmful. Don't start singling out individual people who may or may not be using AI programs to create with, because that's focusing on the wrong thing.

The next person who calls it AI in front of me again is going to be used as a test subject for the Tank’s laser upgrades.”)

Donnie and Mikey team up to stop them because what better way to destroy Artificially Generated garbage than with the Smarts and Crafts duo.

While Donnie sabotages and destroys all the Purple Dragons’ tech, Mikey ties them up and gives them a lecture on art. It lasts for several hours. The Dragons are begging to be turned over to the police before he’s finished.
