popular mikage reo is loved amongst students, perhaps even hated. who knows. but there were only two sides, love and hate. all the girls in school wanted mikage reo and all the boys wanted to be like mikage reo. to put simply, he is the dream of everyone.
he gets everything he wants. money, success, fame, women, nagi seishirou. whatever that he desires, he gets.
so what happens when he doesn't get what he wants?
more like, what would happen if a student that wants him, ends up not wanting him anymore…?
reo mikage is oblivious to the times where you tried so hard to talk to him or be in his presence. to even get his attention through a crowd of dedicated fangirls and haterboys is just so hard. so not even one week of attempting to express your feelings, you have completely cut them off like cutting a mere thread.
sometime after you left, reo mikage started to notice you. how ironic is that? the popular mikage reo finally notices you, quite a popular student too. you were popular for your performing arts talent, often seen performing for school events or even outside of school.
the mikage attempted a chase and attract challenge for quite some time. but there was not even once where you would look his way and smile or blush or anything. now he felt like his desires weren't going to be fulfilled. he should've paid you more mind when you used to like him.
“yo mikage! you ever get the news on why l/n doesn't fawn over you like everyone else?”
he does. in fact, he wonders about it all the damn time. it was shocking that there are actually people who don't pay any mind to the mikage.
“they said l/n used to like you but gave up because you're wayyy too popular, man. they don't want you anymore.”
oh. talented y/n used to like reo mikage. that's a little disappointing. maybe a bit more disappointing. okay reo is lying to himself. he is extremely disappointed. he is disappointed at himself for how he never paid you any attention when you used to like him. if only he wasn't so oblivious then only would he make things work.
he could have you all for himself this entire time. he could have told people that talented y/n is all his. he would say “y/n is all mine” proudly.
is there a second chance for him in your heart? he is eager to know. so reo mikage is going to try to get your attention now. will he succeed or not? oh reo mikage prays. if not, he will do even the most ridiculous of stunts to get you to look at him just once. at least once.
truth is, he didn't even have to try. he was always in your heart. you'll only look his way whenever he isn't looking so you'd admire him from afar. how pathetic talented y/n is, to think that you have no chance with ace student reo mikage.
will this complex love story ever be solved?
yeah.
“will you ever look my way, y/n?! i've been trying so hard to talk to you. why won't you notice my feelings for you?!” reo mikage loses his patience and snaps at you.
in class, right where you sat completing your music sheet. and the mikage who snapped all of a sudden in the middle of a free period where the entire class paused at the outburst.
“i like you y/n, please just acknowledge my existence!”
oh dear. someone's angry.
“not like i don't acknowledge your existence. you're very much known to me. but the feelings part is not what i expected,” you said, looking at your music sheet and at reo. “i like you too.”
and that was all it took for two oblivious souls to acknowledge their feelings for each other. it isn't that hard to just... go up and talk. another day, and reo mikage gets to finally call the school's most talented performer “all mine.”

Her first mount, Scratch the Raptor! He's a very goofy little guy and basically more of a dog? He was gifted to her when she first arrived in Elona and saved that village from the forged. He was one of the weaker Raptors, not as fast as the others, but he certainly is a very loving companion to Astrid! Scratch got injured a lot during the course of PoF, he's a VERY brave Raptor that tends to disobey Astrids orders at times. She may think a distance is too far to jump for him, but he'll just go "fuck it" and try anyways. And he does succeed most of the time, though he strains his body a lot.

Frostwing the Griffon! Astrid raised her from the egg. She started out as an Owl Giffron Hatchling Mini that I bought from a heart vendor in Bitterfrost... Frostwing was basically among the eggs that Astrid rescued during LWS3, and as soon as she hatched she'd start following Astrid around! She'd get herself into a few dangerous situations following Astrid into all those fights, even out of Bitterfrost. She even followed her onto the pact airship to Elona, where she'd eventually go missing/run off by herself. Only after The Departing, Frostwing would show up again, a LOT bigger, though still not fully grown. And at the very end of PoF, she had grown enough for Astrid to ride her! Turns out she also kind of consumed plenty of magic on Astrids adventures, which made her bigger and stronger as well!

PETEY! WE ALL KNOW AND LOVE HIM! After Gorrik and Astrid grew him together and he was ready for action, the two actually also decided to tune him a bit more while they were at it. Since both of them are (at that time) holosmiths, theyengineered around a little and found a way to utilize the Holoforge to make that bug even FASTER! Of course this is much more safe than the Holoforge Astrid uses to fight, and there is no need to worry about overheating and damaging himself!

The newest addition to her team! Stardrop the Skyscale was also raised from the egg! She's VERY attached to Astrid. And she's VERY strong. And she VERY much likes to jump at Astrid and push her around. Startdrop is Astrids "main" mount of sorts? Scratch can finally retire now! She also gets along quite well with Frostwing. They might aswell be girlfriends idk.

How to get into an ivy league
Make sure that you have good marks, sure ivy leagues admissions don't only look at your grades but it is still crucial to keep up a high average for these schools to see your discipline
Be sure to take AP and IB classes, these classes tend to be more advanced in terms of academics, ivy leagues want to see you can succeed through a challenge and that your up for one which further demonstrates your discipline and motivation
Have a clear interest; It is very crucial to have a clear interest. What clubs and extracurriculars are you focusing on. You interests must be clear and precise. Remember it is much more important to the work your way up to president in a few clubs by the end of high school then be one of the lower postions of 20.
Have a passion project outside of school; This is something that you bring to the table, that clearly reflects your goals and passions. Some example of a passion project could be starting a non-profit organization to help children get educated as your passionate about humanitarian rights, or you create an app that helps adolesants communicate, this reflects on who you are
What makes you different? You have to remembers that there are thousands and thousands or students applying to ivy leagues every year. What makes the admissions look at your application and think how different you are from the rest of the applications. What makes you special? What picks you out of the crowd? Remember, Ivy leagues want a diverse selection of graduates, now I don't mean race or religion but more so passion or interest
Change the world. Ivy leagues don't want students who are going to get a degree and go work in an office for the rest of their life, they want a student who are world changers, the next Michelle Obama, Steve Jobs, Dr Seuss.
Make sure to have recommendation letters. Admissions want to see how collaborative and easy going you are with other people. Being able to work with other people is such a crucial thing to know. This skill is what is going to get you that acceptance letter. Over the years, impress your employer, your teacher, staff adviser, mentor, colleague, whoever it is show them you can make a change. That recommendation letter could cost your your career. Put in effort into be kind to other and being an easy going overall like person.
Take the necessary's tests-like it or not the SAT, or ACT can truly show admissions the kind of student you are. It is first, more important to have this test taken and also have a good score, so be sure to make this a priority.
Apply early-Ivy leagues want to see your dedication to this school. The early application shows that you want this opportunity and that willing to do anything in your power to get into said school.

If You Could See the Sun by Ann Liang
Why am I reviewing this book?
Thank you to Inkyard Press and Netgalley for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review! This book first caught my eye around a month ago, and the premise really intrigued me. I then saw a post from the author about ARCs now being available, so I tried my hand and was approved!

Alice Sun attends Airington, a prestigious international private school for the ultra-rich, on a scholarship. As talented and academically gifted as she is, it isn't enough, and she finds out she'll soon have to leave Airington. This news coincides with another revelation: Alice can turn invisible. She can't control when and she doesn't know how, but she decides to capitalize on her invisibility by teaming up with her academic rival, Henry Li, to complete tasks from her classmates to raise funds for her tuition. However, as the stakes start to rise, Alice must decide how far she's willing to go for money.
This book takes a tried and true concept and adds something new to it by bringing in a supernatural element. Now, I'll be honest, anything that involves an elite private school I will eat up every time, so I am a little biased. However, I do think this book stands out from the crowd. Alice has very good reasons for not wanting to leave Airington. Leaving would mean going to a regular school in China and having to face the gaokao, a notoriously rigorous and stressful test required for college attendance, or moving back to America, where she would be unlikely to be able to complete her IB curriculum and would face racism on the daily. Combine that with her desperation to make something of herself, especially when constantly compared to children with the world handed to them on a platter, the tension is there. Even if Alice's methods were dubious, I wanted her to succeed in the end.
In my opinion, the story does get a little slow around the middle, but it's necessary for Alice's guilt to slowly build and overtake her. I loved the comparisons between her and Macbeth, especially since English is something she cares about. Seeing Alice's gradual downfall as the stress and her conscience creep up on her really kept me on the edge of my seat; I knew she was going to crack, but when?
The only negative thing I can think of is the ending. I don't know, I was just expecting something more severe. On one hand, I'm happy for Alice since I was genuinely attached to her, but on the other, I wish the story had explored the negative effects of this sort of thing to a greater extent. Also, as would be expected in a private school full of children of the 1%, it is a little unrealistic. From aspiring idols to kidnapping plots to truly insane amounts of money being thrown around, expect some crazy antics from the students.

As someone who constantly regrets missing out on social activities and extracurriculars due to my obsession with academics but without it would never have stood a chance of getting into college, Alice hits a little too close to home. She's clever, talented, and driven, but she lacks the privilege of her peers and as such has developed a huge inferiority complex. Her character development as she takes her ploy for tuition too far is very well done, and her constant worry and stress were palpable. She's a character that's easy to root for, even when we know she's in the wrong.
Alice's dynamic with Henry was also just fun to read about. Academic rivals are my bread and butter, and Alice and Henry were pretty much everything I love about the concept. I will admit, Henry is a bit of a stereotype for the genre. He's the heir to a huge company that seems like everything comes easily to him but actually puts a lot of work in, especially due to pressure from his parents. However, as much as I loved the romantic subplot, to me, this book was wholly about Alice and her struggle for greatness. Still, I can appreciate how Henry is a stellar, supportive love interest.
In terms of side characters, I would like to especially discuss Alice's parents, her aunt, and Mr. Chen, her English teacher. They all share one thing in common—they are authority figures in Alice's life that truly care for her. It was just so touching to read about the ways they supported Alice, and they also brought an interesting aspect to the story. Despite their unconditional support, Alice still feels as though she is always disappointing them and that she owes them for their help. It was an intriguing concept to cover that even though Alice technically had the support she needed, her environment and personality as a result of that kept her from reaching out.

I think the descriptions of Alice's emotional and mental well-being are the stars of the show in this case. Her constant anxiety adds a lot to the story; it made my stakes in the story grow, and it was visceral at times. As someone who is prone to episodes of intense panic, Alice's reactions were both heartwrenching and realistic. This book did a very good job of showing not telling when it came to this.
I will say that the physical descriptions were pretty average. Nothing particularly stood out to me, and I do wish Alice's own appearance had been more detailed. On the other hand, I can perfectly picture Henry due to Alice's constant attention to him (which is pure rivalry and definitely never to be mistaken for attraction). I did like the ending paragraph quite a bit and the way it tied back to both the title and the overarching theme of the book.

Something I really appreciated about this book was how it made it clear that money is undeniably something important. The message isn't that Alice should stop reaching above her station and be content where she is; Alice's financial situation is what got her into the mess in the first place. The message is that Alice (and others like her) deserve better, but while they work towards a better life they shouldn't forget what makes that life worth living in the first place, be it family, friends, or personal passion, all things Alice has lost sight of. In the end, Alice's friends use their privilege to help her, and they are not villainized for having that privilege nor is she villainized for desiring it.
I do wish this book had gone a little deeper on the class divide, especially between Henry and Alice. There's potential for a very big fallout there around Henry not understanding why Alice cares about money so much. I can see why it was maybe excluded or glossed over, but it would have been so interesting to see Henry in particular grapple with Alice's reality.

Like I said before, this book takes a story that's been done many times before and executes it well with extra elements that help it stand out. Alice's invisibility brings depth to both the plot and her character, which is well-developed. Her dynamic with Henry is so much fun, and I was able to genuinely root for her the whole time despite her dubious decisions. While I do wish the story had dug into the class divide a bit more, this was overall a very good book, especially for a debut, that I thoroughly enjoyed!

Equality Of Opportunity And Diversity Of Thought
To say that the last year has been difficult for the whole school community would be an understatement.
It has occasionally been tough and difficult to transition completely to virtual learning and to a long period of forced seclusion.
When the security guy in my building asked us for a spare phone, it gave me a sobering reminder of how difficult things really were. As it turned out, his family only owned one smartphone, so he had to bring it to work. Due to this, his 8-year-old son was unable to participate in the online classes that his school had set up for him.
We are fortunate enough not to face such fundamental barriers to learning within our school community. With online courses, blended learning possibilities, and the enrichment programme, we have given our students the tools they need to succeed. It did, however, make me consider what other inequities and differences in circumstance we routinely overlook.
Different people will respond differently if you ask them how they view diversity. In corporate India, diversity primarily refers to the presence of more women in leadership positions. For a school like ours, it's about providing students from different nations with varying levels of language skill with a worthwhile teaching and learning experience. I mean he *does* tell traveler that he likes intelligent people... And he thinks he does, normally he does, but that kinda goes out the window all of a sudden when it's a darling/crush.
It feels... Threatening... Not that he's actually worried she might be smarter, no it's nothing like that at all, just that she might get cocky and think she's as smart as him. That being said he's a very passive person and hates confrontation, so he's gotta be very passive-aggressive in his attempt to make her feel inferior. And he's good at that, knows how to subtly make her feel dumb. For a scholar darling working with him, this is done with backhanded compliments in particular, using tone of voice. Whenever she does something right, rather than outright approval, he says "well, I guess that will do" or when it's mathematic he'll just say "let me double check just in case" to her, but when someone else hands in similar work he makes sure she's there to witness him take it without question from the other person. Unfortunately, darling continuously is correct and scores well... Poor boy is silently seething
But yes for idol darling he just kinda shakes his head, well, it makes sense. Sure she succeeded, but the pressure must have been too much. She probably was one of those people that succeeded because they put in hours and hours of work because they lacked the natural intelligence that others (like him) have.
Likewise, he's normally a humble person really, doesn't see himself as a "genius", but once he starts feeling threatened-- I mean, annoyed by her delusions of intellect, it's only natural to realize that wow, even incredibly unintelligent people can achieve a lot, perhaps the system has gotten lax on these things. And I've mentioned it before but for girl/idol darling he probably justifies it in his head with thinking she probably got accepted to high ranking programs due to quotas rather than by merit, yeah, that's the only way really.
Even then, it was too much stress for her brain to handle, so it was much easier to just start selling her looks instead.

What are your thoughts on on how Hatice handled Esmanur? Do you think Ibrahim had a right to a relationship with Esmanur given what he had done to Hatice? Do you think there was even a morally correct way to handle the situation? Admittedly until this day I’m not entirely sure how I feel about it. I truly hated Ibrahim for cheating on Hatice and she had every right to feel everything she has felt, and she refused to kill or hurt Esmanur and even allowed Nigar/Ib to see her, but I remember Ibrahim wanting more and it makes me wonder if that was realistic or even possible..
I certainly find Ibrahim's infidelity to be one of his worst actions: I know that despite of Hatice pulling rank on him out of ignorance and not malice, it hurt him a lot to hear what he heard from one of his most loved people and I get why he may feel alienated and want to distance himself from Hatice for a little bit, but he took it way too far at some point, both deluding Nigar and upsetting Hatice in the process. I disliked how he didn't even want to listen to what his wife had to say most of the time and didn't tell her anything at all. It all went way past Hatice pulling rank in that one scene in E29 (in which also Ibrahim didn't answer anything to Hatice's accusations even before she uttered these words - I get that he was simply in shock that she would ever accuse him of infidelity like this, but Ibrahim's silence only made matters worse.) and I'm sorry, but yes, she had the absolute right to feel how she felt and I stand behind her much more than I do Ibrahim in this, even though both motivations are perfectly understandable.
I honestly think Hatice acted in the best way she knew how when it came to Esmanur: in her decision, she regarded both her position as a member of the dynasty and a part of the family and strived to do as little harm as she possibly could. Because according to law, she could've killed all three and Valide Hafsa had the exact same fear and imagined it in her head when she went to SS in E58. Not to mention that SS left the decision to Hatice alone and he said that he wouldn't oppose whatever she decided. She could've freely ended their lives and no one could really judge her for it, but she chose not to. Secretly hiding Esmanur and especially lying to Nigar that her daughter was dead was definetly a shady move, but I guess that she considered that some kind of punishment was in order. The infidelity got to her dynastic pride and dignity in a massive way and that's why she refused to accept the daughter for so long and decided to rather hide her, pretend she didn't exist, yet still have someone care for her far away. Ibrahim also wrote her a letter where he said that he didn't regret anything and that broke Hatice's heart even more and put her in denial in her persistent insistence for him to burn it.
Hatice's arc about forgiving Ibrahim in relation to the Esmanur storyline developed in two levels: first she wanted for them to begin anew by themselves, without anyone else around, then she wanted for them to begin anew with Esmanur, too, hence again, dynastic pride and family values clash once again with each other in Hatice and find their resolve. She let Ibrahim see Esmanur, but it took her a while to do that: because is it easy to accept the daughter of another woman? Not to mention how in some moments Ibrahim seemed to value her more than his kids with Hatice, because he considered her as something out of the dynasty's hand, that could be fully his and that even resembled his own past self to some extent. She was the daughter of Teo, the fisherman in Parga, not of the grand vezier Ibrahim Pasha, the position that puts so many expectations on the person who wields it. That's why he always demanded more and that's also why Hatice showed so much resistence at first: to her, he not only violates the laws of the dynasty, but tarnishes the honor of the family and puts it in such an awkward position. Because Hürrem is right in that Esmanur, the sweet little girl, would be the walking reminder of the infidelity and what Hatice and Ibrahim have gone through, and that's the very thing they want to somehow get over. To Hatice, if the daughter ever comes in her own home, it would make the recovery from the situation much harder. Because she wants to forgive Ibrahim, but to do that, she has to get over some deep seated beliefs of her own.
When some time passed, when both slowly seemed to go back to normal, she was ready to accept her, underlined in her going to see her. Here she fully takes Ibrahim's feelings into account: she realized how much that daughter means to him and since a child is one of the biggest family values, too, to her (as seen in her consistently strong wish to have a child in her desired family throughout S01 and S02, along with her earlier biggest losses being losses of children), she can go as far as accept it in her home, to start over as a new, better, more stable family and have the wishes of both her and Ibrahim be fulfilled accordingly. But the needs of both once again clash and the roles reverse: because now Ibrahim doesn't want to have her in their home, but to have more than that, to go in his own accord in order to still preserve what he values the most about this daughter, along with his fatherly love for her. Hatice and Ibrahim succeed to truly start over only when they find a compromise in the front of Esmanur, as well - for Ibrahim to go see her when he wants (and give her to Matrakcı), but not to have her in Hatice's home and I find that the most moral solution of the issue, when it comes to the time period, his crime and Ibrahim himself.
Still, that's my opinion and I don't think a true moral solution can be offered, again judging by both the infidelity and the time period, which makes the situation even more iffy and complicated. The moral solution I would chose when it comes to Nigar would be for Matrakcı to give her the location of the daughter after Ibrahim's death for her to go there and live with Esmanur in piece. As I mentioned in the ask about Nigar as a whole, I consider this the perfect narrative send-off for her character, as well: a happy ending she absolutely deserves. Her efforts to find and permanetly take her daughter in her arms would finally pay off and she would preserve a memory of what she sees as the best moments of her life. Enough time would have passed for her to have "paid" for her crime, so I think it would be just for her to find happiness eventually.
[Side note: Plot and drama convenience aside, I believe Matrakcı didn't tell Nigar where her daughter is because of deep or maybe already subconscious resentment of Nigar after he divorced her right in their marriage's first night and the whole "horn on his door" situation happening. Yes, he logically has to resent Ibrahim for this, because he caused it in the first place, but I always felt that like Nigar, Matrakcı had such tremendous loyalty for Ibrahim that he idealized him. And even when he called him out on his methods both in the horn situation and the beggining of S03, he eventually let it slide and held no grudge. He refused to talk to Nigar whatsoever after the horn incident and he told her some very harsh words when he was drunk and it's very possible that he didn't let it go completely. They have broken his heart when it came to love (Sadıka) and it's also possible that this may have hardened him or he simply loves Ibrahim that much to blame him for stuff for long or maybe internalized mysoginy? It's solely a theory of mine (and the internalized mysoginy part may be a stretch), but it would make sense.]

I really liked this episode for whatever it was. I think I like the episodes where Shivaay has just... fainted? I couldn't stop laughing that dude nearly had to save himself. I really like the villain and Soumya/Saumya is such a cutie! Also, Annika was full fire mode along with her sidekick. The Meaning of Life & Other Discoveries at 18
Hey, it's been a bit, hasn't it? I've thought about updating sooner, but frankly, my life was turned upside down and I never knew just how to phrase everything that has happened. Not to say that I feel ready now, but I need to tell you guys.
I'm not going to Keele University (school in England) anymore.
It's weird for me to say, part of me feels ashamed. As though it were my fault as if this just proves that I truly am a failure. As if the other shoe has finally dropped. However, in reality, it just wasn't the right choice.
I had a lot of worries from the beginning about that school. It took them a month after my IB results were posted to finally access them and tell me I wasn't accepted into their forensic science program. It broke my heart, to be honest. I had never truly failed at something like that before, never had someone tell me straight out no for something I've worked my butt off and have been praying for. However, they did accept me into their law program, where I would be studying law and criminology. Handy dandy, right? Forensic scientists still need some law background to really succeed, right? However, it was law in a country that I don't live in, and don't know if I want to spend the rest of my life in.
Nevertheless, I accepted and started getting ready for the school year. Emails were being sent almost daily filled with questions, pleas for reconsideration, and the occasional update request. Because, within a month of being accepted, I still had not received an IT account, student email, or any visa information. I hadn't even gotten any responses to my emails asking about them.
Flash to a week before, I had tickets booked, bags packed, bid my farewells to everyone, and was panicking because I still did not have a visa nor an IT account. A week before I left, I finally received the information to apply for a visa, and promptly submitted my application, however, it was Friday, and all centers to get my fingerprints for the visa were closed. This was the last step and the end was in sight, but there was a BRP shaped hole between me and it.
To say I was stressed is an understatement. I spent every night panicked, crying, and trying to convince myself that I did want to study law and that this was the right choice for me. Unfortunately, they also had a horrible call center and they always seemed to be closed (especially with the 7 hr time difference). So, I stayed up late three days before my trip (it was previously the weekend) to contact them.
I was binging Great British Bake Off while waiting for their call centers to open so that I could finally sort out everything. Come 4am, I'm not able to get a hold of anyone since the department I needed didn't appear to have working phones for some reason. My sleep-deprived, anxious self then receives an email that just broke me.
We cannot do anything, you will have to sort it out on your own.
I snapped, I was exhausted and more stressed than I have ever been in my life and I just broke down in my living room at 4 in the morning. My parents came downstairs and helped me calm down and they talked through a solution with me, and at 5am I went to bed, a single thought echoing in my mind.
"I don't want to go"
It's scary. You're expected to figure out your entire life's path at just 18. You get advice from everyone; parents, sisters, teachers, and friends who all think they know best, but in the end, it's on you. And after having your hand held your entire academic career and being told exactly what to do, this is a very daunting task.
Especailly when you feel as though you've chosen wrong. One thought that kept circulating in my head is that this was my first decision in my adult life, and I can't seem to get it right.
Although, despite this decision being yours to make, I do recommend talking things through with someone you value the opinion of. For me, that's my oldest sister. We sat down the next day and she asked me why I wanted to go. When I couldn't answer, she asked me why I would be paying all that money to go somewhere to study something I don't even care for. And then, it all made sense. I wouldn't.
All this fear of making the wrong choice. Of feeling like no matter what I did, I'd be disappointing someone. And in the end, I had to stay true to what I want, why I want to continue learning, and what I want to learn. The next day, I sent out an email to Keele withdrawing my application and started my search for a school that will answer my calls, let me study what I want, and not make me stress beyond belief.
It's tough, I'll admit. Part of me is ashamed to not be in school now and watching all my friends make a new life for themselves in their respective schools. I never imagined this path for me.
But I'm starting to think that's the secret of life. You can't anticipate what's going to happen next. Sure, you can make plans and have a general idea, but it never truly works out that way, does it? I mean, I never imagined my senior year would be taken over by a global pandemic, or that I wouldn't be studying straight out of high school.
Life doesn't go how you expect it to. No one controls it's path, we merely learn to walk it.
This isn't how I expected my life to go, but that doesn't mean it's wrong. It just means I'll have more to tell years from now. And that also doesn't mean my life is immediately better, I'm now back at step 1 of finding a university, but now I have the hindsight to not settle, and to go for what I want, not what I am expected to want. University is a journey, and man, if this is the beginning, I can't even imagine what's about to come. So, for now...

For the first time in a year and a few months, I seem to be slightly manic and unable to sleep... I’ve been emotionally tumultuous for several days with crying spells and random bouts of just pure rage and/or anxiety. I am severely depressed. I’m hoping I am able to sleep tonight cuz I just cannot deal with a whole downward spiral where I end up hospitalized again... I just. I can’t. I feel so stuck. Like I know I need therapy but yet I’m not in the right environment for coming home from therapy because when I come home, lol I’m gonna come home to what I went to therapy FOR in the first place so like this part of me has been putting off real therapy with a certified therapist for literal years cuz I’m like discouraged at the thought of discussing my trauma from childhood only to have to deal with the emotional impact of those discussions when I go home and am face to face with the very parental units that I know caused this trauma and this ptsd... so I told myself I’ll get therapy once I’ve moved out my parents house... but then I find it impossible to succeed financially because I’m SICK lol.... I find it physically, emotionally and mentally impossible to manage working 40+ hours per week for $10-13/hour only to take home less than 1700/month after taxes and to rent a halfway decent one bedroom apartment around my area is like 700-1000 plus utilities, on top of health insurance, on top of car insurance on top of a car payment on top of gasoline on top of cost of food and credit card debt, etc.... like 🤬 . And that’s considered a GOOD wage because it’s not minimum wage but like I still cannot live sustainablely or comfortably on that budget... I’ve tried. I think my issues mentally and emotionally are stunting my ability to sleep, sometimes even bathe, and eat right and the nerve pain, arthritis, and neuropathy and IBS just adds on to the misery since I am forced to work a job on my feet for hours. And I’ve been denied disability 3 times now. I’ve given up. So I’m doomed to just trying to bust my ass and grit my teeth and bear the physical pain which is FINE lol I can do that but the mental and emotional gymnastics going on in my head every day is enough to exhaust alone. I’ve also been considering taking out loans for a degree BUT... I might not be functioning well enough to actually engage in, commit to, and complete the courses so I can’t help but feel extremely anxious about signing a legal obligation to pay for classes that even if I finish will not absolutely garauntee me a stable steady job after... nonetheless I am set on taking medical billing and coding at some point but I can’t help but feel that even if NOTHING was wrong with me mentally or physically, even if I had NEVER been traumatized or won the genetic lottery for mental disorders.... the mere reality that in order to simply EXIST somewhat comfortably for the rest of this life I have to work 8+ hour shifts 5+ days per week for basically the rest of my life just so I can live in a house that belongs to a fucking bank not me lol... and that at any moment any place I work at can follow the “at will employment” stance of being able to fire my ass whenever... so that financial “stability” is always in jeopardy from an unstable, unbridled, unregulated capitalist society in which I’m brainwashed throughout all of childhood is actually a free market where all your dreams and goals are possible as long as you work hard!!! 🙄
TLDR: Am I ill and disfunctional??? Ooooor is the society I’m stuck in ill and disfunctional and just all around ridiculous???? And I’m one of many who are just like surrounded by TRUE insanity in this world while being deemed the “insane” one because I find it hard to navigate an economic landscape that is so perverse in nature that 44% of employed workers only make an average of $18k per year... and people still go to the polls and vote for candidates who WONT CHANGE ANYTHING OR CREATE POLICIES THAT WILL ACTUALLY HARM THE WORKING CLASS...
